We are going to the ILs place for the weekend. Leaving in the morning, coming back Monday. I wanna go tonight. Wonder if I can con him into it...I wanna go to the bub & see everyone & they only really go on Fridays.
Hmmm.....Maybe there's something on tomorrow for the long weekend. Might ring MIL & see.
Nup. I'll try & get over there tonight. That way Anth can help his dad put the decking on the front verandah. I won't be telling him that though! He won't wanna go if he thinks he's gotta work!!
I was so pleased. I bought a dress in a size that I have not been able to wear since before I got married (will not say what size that is though).
Jazz is getting really good with her balance. She wont sit by herself though and will hold my hands even though I'm not holding her. I tried only having one hand for her to hold and that was fine but then she kept grabbing my hand with both her hands coz she doesn't trust herself yet. Also, I tried to get her to crawl to me. She was trying really hard but just turned around on the spot instead of going forwards or backwards.
We got her these play cups with edges that are perfect for teething babies to chew on. She has worked out how to hold them properly and chew on the edge, then she will take it away from her mouth, turn the cup upside down to look at it, then turn it back the right way around and return the edge to her mouth. She's also worked out which end of the bottle is for her mouth and if we don't put it up to her mouth quick enough, she snatches it out our hands and shoves it in her mouth but she wont hold it the whole time. When she's had enough she'll play with it and pretend she's going to put it in her mouth.
She's poking her tongue out heaps more now. When I came home from work Matt had her sitting in her walker (which she doesn't use as a walker coz she's too small, but loves sitting in it and playing). As soon as I walked in the door and said hello, she turned, looked at me, stuck her tongue out and then laughed. That seems to be her new greeting coz she does that in the mornings too when I go into her room to get her up. Very cheeky!
How hot was it yesterday????????? And of course i had a full on day. Had a riding lesson at 5.30 and it was so sticky still.
Hope you have fun Skye.....
Enjoy Tassie Prama, where abouts are you going?
It's very quiet at my place it's just me and Summy. She is harassing me atm and it trying to turn the computer off hehe she has found the button and tries to press it. She is loving crawling on the grass she picks up the leaves and crunches them.
Better go she has found the dog and cat bowls again.
Well I've gone back to bed - not feeling well (again!) Doesn't help that I was up to Jazz last night seeing as it was the weekend. Jazz is taking a nap. This morning Matt brought her into our room while I was having a sleep in and she was having a great time flicking her legs and making the bed bounce.
I am sooooo tired
I have been getting up at 2.30am overnight so that i can express and have enough milk for the course that i am doing in under 2 weeks, I am stressed that i will not have enough by then as MJ is also waking up (its like she knows im stealing her milk and wants a feed)
For the past week i have been up for at lease 2 straight hours over night and it is starting to take a toll, i am weepy and irritable and not happy
To make matters worse DH is really busy again and the nextweek weeks will be pulling 12-18hr days plus working saturdays so i cant really ask for help - he is being very understanding thou
Danni - dont worry that Jazz is not yet sitting up, she has been busy doing other things like cutting teeth... i reckon that babies do things differently and most concentrate on one thing, get on top of it then move to the next iykwim
Prama - Steve will probably know of this place as he lived there, but there is a seafood resturant that tourists dont really know about in Hobart called Kellys - it is a converted house and OH MY F**KING GOD has the most amazing seafood i have EVER tasted... i rememeber that you love seafood, so maybe you could go ther one night (they had high chairs there when we went several years ago- so you can take Lakshman too )
Skye - i am soooo happy for you, things seem to be a bit more positive for you now, the move will be fantastic.
Trina - Enjoy the quiet, As soon as the girls are back it will be a whirlwind again!!! Not so hot here, but i think that we are in for a long hot summer by the Spring that we are having (the dryest september EVER here, the water restrictions will NEVER be lifted and poor MJ will never know what its like to play under a sprinkler )
hehe, summy so cute turning off the pc.. she;s so clever!
steve's going to be in hobart cbd.. from the 12th till 21st. i dunno if lakshman and i want to be there so long, we wont have a car and it will be boring in the apt during the day as steve will be working long hours. you can just walk around so much. not sure abt public transport and pram and all when i dont know the city. i was initially thinking of being there till sat the 18th but might come back earlier..
lakshman and i going to malaysia again on the 22nd, not that we have a lot of money, it will be from my tax return, and it's diwali (hindu xmas) on the 27th and i havent been back in 4 years. this is the only time i'll have a chance since im on mat leave. and we got a really good deal for both of us, about 2/3 of the normal fare.
sj - expressing is exhausting, i found it tiring, but i could only get out so little so didnt do much once he needed more. how long is your course. glad you're going on that.. is that a nursing course or are you doing something different?
poopy's not sitting but starting to really get on all fours and rock himself. often he rocks and rocks and builds up so much momentum, he suddenly propells himself forwards and lands face down! but doesnt faze him one bit..
i guess some bubs sit first and then crawl, poopy's crawling first then im sure he will be sitting up soon.
oh, i looked up Kelley's the food looks so yummy. pity none of you girls live in Hobart, could have had a catch up...
i better go..
im feeling heaps better w the A/D. i have so much more energy, and am heaps happier.
So glad you are feeling better prama.... I have been to kelleys very nice.
I feel like i have been going on about Summer crawling and sitting etc i don't mean to make you all feel bad all my other girls took longer than usual to reach milestones Tahnie didn't crawl until she was 11 months then walked not long after so don't feel like there is something wrong Summy must have a rocket up her butt or something.... She is pulling herself up onto anything she can get her hands on like the couch and walks along and was today trying to climb ONTO the couch.... Whatever you do DON'T wish for them to crawl just yet because it is hard hard work you can't leave them for a second like you can now, i found Summy in the bathroom trying to climb the toilet i only left her for 15 seconds and she gets around like a rocket... i have to set up walls for her everywhere.
Anyway i am feeling very bored and lonely how pathetic!!!!!
All good here, but DJ has been poo'ing 2-3 times a day and gets really constipated which is unusual for him and now he has gone off his solids, just closes his mouth shut and also won't take a full bottle, I am lucky if he will drink 100-120ml of his milk.... He still has plenty of wet nappies, but someone said it could be teething, but he has been teething on and off for 3.5 months.....argh who knows.....
SJ - sounds like you are super stressed, make sure you take some time out for yourself. What about your mum or Nina? Are they close by? Don't put so much pressure on yourself as well, especially when you are expressing. I remember when I was breastfeeding and needed a certain amount for a night out or something I wouldn't get much because I was stressing about having enough for the outing. I used to use the Bach remedy for stress - homeopathic stuff.
Prama - that is so great you and Lakshman can go with Steve to Hobart, it will be a nice getaway for the 3 of u
Danni - how is Jazz feeling?
Skye - I bet you can't wait for the big move, not long now woohoooo
Trina - sounds like you and Summer are having a great time together.
Well girls, I am off to watch some tv and relax while DJ is asleep.
trina - hey, not at all...
all the babies seem to be sitting first and then crawling, poopy's doing the opposite. LOL. i'm sure he will sit up in due time. he tries to sit up when he's on his back, on the pram etc that's about it..
sorry you're feeling lonely have the girls got in touch w you?
Just to clarify Prama, MJ is not getting herself into a sit by herself, she is sitting unsupported if i put her into a sit...
Think i am going to go to bed. So tired still, had a BBQ, DH was great he did most of the stuff and Nina and her DP were over so they played with MJ while i did stuff.
Summer has 3 big sisters that she wants to play with, MJ does heaps more when DSS is over as she wants to be around him, i think having siblings makes such a difference
thanks sj - i was thinking everyone's bubs were sitting up by themselves!
yeah, lakshman sits up if i sit him up, not pulling himself up. he can manage for a bit on his own if i slowly move away, then if he waves his arms or kicks his legs, he topples over. he sits longer on his own each time..
yeah, babies with older siblings do things quicker, it's do with a survival instinct...
how are feeling sj - hope you had some rest
poopy woke up at 2.30 again this morning and didnt settle till 4.30, which is the usual unsettled time even before daylight savings..
stupid AF arrived on thurs nite.. what a pain. i forgot how inconvenient it is, but it's here for a reason.. at least i can monitor my cycle again
Last edited by prama; October 5th, 2008 at 12:09 PM.
I got AF today too but I'm on implanon so I have no regularity with it. It could come and last 2 weeks then go away then I could have spotting for one day then nothing at all for 2 months. I've realised that I have to be prepared 24/7 just in case!
I went shopping today for more baby food for Jazz. Seeing as she will be 7 months on Tuesday I got heaps of the 7-9 month foods. Tomorrow she will be trying Tuna for the first time. I hope she goes well with that. I hope to give it to her early in the day so I can monitor her throughout the day for any reactions. Also got her some cheesy pasta bolognaise. Today she had some fruit gels and I also bought some baby fruit juice (ready to drink stuff). She started sucking on the bottle all excited but then pulled a funny face when she realised that it's not milk. Then she tried again a few times and had the same reaction each time. She hasn't finished the 100ml I offered, in fact, she's only had about 3 sips of it.
I also got a teething dummy and am keeping that on her dummy chain with a normal dummy as well so she can pick and choose. She wasn't sure what to do with the teething one coz she couldn't suck it. I put a bit of teething gel on it and she chompped on it for a short time.
Sorry for the long post. I have friends about to arrive and I had heaps I wanted to write before they get here. In fact I think they just pulled up now.
DJ has gone off his solids - won't touch it, just closes up his mouth and we almost have to force it in...... He also has been doing alot of runny poo's - almost diarrohea like four times a day (unusual for him) and vomiting small amounts after a milk feed....... He was really unsettled all morning as well, so just don't know if it is related to this teething. Still seems pretty happy though, smiling and laughing so he musn't be that sick..... Anyone else gone through something similar?
re: sitting - DJ is fully sitting unsupported now, but not crawling. i love that he can sit by himself, just put all of his toys around him. He even sits up in the bath now just make sure we support him.
SJ - how are you feeling?
Prama - re: AF i thought I would be able to monitor mine but my cycle isn't regular anymore. The first 2 were on time each month but the following month (last month was one week late) so I have no idea when I will get mine, I am basically due. Very frustrating.... Maybe this morning was just an unsettled time for all babies, DJ was the same.....
Danni - what is a teething dummy, never heard of it?
Better go get organised, we are hoping to go to Octoberfest festival at Fairfield later today.
A teething dummy has a flat U shaped "teat" and is designed to be chewed on rather than sucked. You can give it plain or with a thin coating of teething gel on it. Jazz isn't quite used to it but is getting the idea that it's for chewing on (then again, at the moment, everything is for chewing on as far as she's concerned. Including my cheek yesterday which she bit!)
Jazz has this toy lion which she loves and takes to bed. She loves playing with his face and pretending to kiss it. I think she loves it so much for 2 reasons: he rattles and he has a big face and she loves faces at the moment. I think it's become her fave toy followed by a hefalump.
Got home a few hours ago.................minus the girls................so quiet.
5 weeks & counting til we move!!
Just so you all know, Jesse sits unsupported, but I still have a pillow behind him JIC he gets side tracked. He is getting himself down to his belly from sitting now, but I have to sit him up.
He's just started belly flopping! He gets up on his hands & knees, or hands & feet & dives forward onto his belly!! Its cute & funny.
I'm with Trina - the longer they don't crawl & climb the better. Brianna sat at 4 months & started crawling at 6.5 months. She had her first black eye with in a week trying to climb onto the coffee table.
Within days she had another bruise down her cheek from the coffee table. 7 months & she could get onto our lounge. I've found the early crawlers are the dare devils. Jaz crawled at 8 months & was really cautious. Bri had a new bruise every week! She was 4 months when she first started to try & pull herself up. She got hold of MILs inside clothes rack/clothes horse thing & had her chest & arms off the ground trying to get up.
It was scary & she hurt herself alot.
I've been giving Jesse avocado & tuna mixed together just in handfuls on his walker tray lately. He loves it - so do I. Its good on bread!!
Sorry, not really personals. I've got so much to catch up on after a few days away.
I'll be back later.
shell - sounds like teething symptoms doesnt it.. poor dj.. i hope he eats some more
skye - hehe are you enjoying the peace and quiet..
eeek - poopy started crawling at about 6.5mths, commando..
i havent been getting him to practise sitting, stupid me..
but i have the last few days and he's doing great. he sits well but still topples over after a while, but i guess he gets bored. he's all right when he topples jsut moves his body to roll or crawl.
poopy and i might not be going to hobart, we had a look and for some reason there's no vacancy in self serviced apartments. if steve has to get a hotel, then it's too hard, cooking for poopy and all.
oh, well.. we'll see how we go..
Well I shouldn't have thought we were going to breeze through teething. Jazz is becoming really difficult when her mouth hurts. I have to give her neurofen and then a bottle, then teething gel, then panadol, then more teething gel, putting dermese on her neck from the rash she's developed from dribble, lots of cuddles and then maybe, just maybe after all that and up to 30mins of screeming she might go to sleep!
Also, she's taken to sucking and biting my shoulders/neck (thankfully no hickies). She's also started playing rough which is fun...to a point! But she is starting to be a bit more gentle when pulling my hair which she is facinated by.
Morning...
I am so tired, i dont think that i have been this bad since MJ was first born
She is waking so much over night, im pretty sure that she is in pain.
I go in and pick her up (she doesnt settle with shusshing or patting) and she falls to sleep immediatly, i cant put her down unless i do it really slowly (that hurst my back from being bent over) or i have the bed warmed with a heat pack. She doesnt want or need a feed, just cuddles.
I really dont want to be using panadol every night as there have been studies that link frquent use of panadol to asthma and ezcema, but last night gave her some.
The bongela isnt really helping.
last night she went down at 9pm, was awake at midnight, 1am (then i gave her panadol) but had i not, she would have been awake at 2am, 4am and then at 8am as this is what she has been doing for the last 2 weeks.
Interestingly it has coincided with her 6th immunisations.... the day after, this all started
She is fine during the day. Before bed i massage her gums. I wont use a teething dummy as she does not use dummies at all.
What else can i try?
Oh and had a bad time with DSS mum again, so really crappy at the mo
Sorry for lack of personals, will try and get back later
