Hi everyone, well I never got back to do that post till now!
Kas, I am sorry to hear about your Grandma, I hope it hasn't been to stressful for you having to deal with all of the arrangements while your mum is away.
Steph - poor Cailan about the teething! It can be such a horrible time for some of them can't it! Campbell showed teething signs from 4 months, but didn't actually cut a tooth until 8 months, then they came with a vengeance! Cooper hasn't shown any signs of teething yet though. I am not looking forward to it though!
Cooper has been bottle feed from about 10 weeks after having a shocker of a time with BF (My kids scream for 30 mins when I am trying to get them to BF. If you saw the size of my BBS you would scream if you saw them coming at you as well!lol) He had his weigh a couple of weeks ago and was 7.2Kgs.
He is 5 months in a couple of days, but I am trying to hang on until 6 months to start him on solids (well at least another couple of weeks)
I am one that has been very fussy with prams and it has taken me 4 prams to get to the right one for me! I started off with an emmaljunga, which I loved but found really hard on my back in relation to steering it, then I sold that and went to a Valco runabout, I then added a toddler seat to that for when Cooper was born, but found that I wanted Cooper to face me when he was really little and I wanted an adjustable handle, so then I bought a Valco Rebel, which I liked, but was a lot heavier, bulkier and then when Campbell was in the toddler seat, it became quite unstable, so then I bought a bargain off ebay - A Bertini Bidwell with a toddler seat, and it was in immaculate condition! I got it for $250 !!!!
And I love it! I will finally stick with this one, even through the next baby. So after 2 years of searching, a bertini bidwell it is!
Emz - I have used a prima pappa with both Campbell and now Cooper. I really like it cause they are comfy for the bubbas and have a 5 point safety harness, they lay back so they can be in them from a few weeks old (with an older sibling, this is a blessing when I am cooking tea etc)
I am so excited girls - I have now got my avatar, and I can catergorically say I WISH I was that hot in real life!
We are moving back to our house in Caulfield East towards the end of October! Yippee the thumbs down though is that our tennants have trashed it, so we are giving them notice and moving back. (We have been housesitting for my parents for 2 years, it was meant to be 5 ) but we really want to go home !
This means I will be closer when I start doing my birth attendant course, and of course closer to all of the big maternity hospitals and BC!
-
Bessi, zeke's crawl sounds soooo funny! Do you have the video on the computer???
Abby is a fatty too. Tho she is in 0 bonds suits, but yeah as you said they are smaller than other clothes. Shes in 00 for everythig else!
The wooden chair we were looking at was only $160 or something similar, so it might be worth a trip to bendigo, thats if you dont live too far away!
Oh, Tim is home so im going... ill finish later! hehehe
-
Relle - that's amazing that you're moving back to Caulfield East. I had Zeke at Monash Birth Centre (Clayton) and loved everything about it. Will you be working there when you do your birth attendent course? By the way what does that involve - I've never heard of it? Do you have to be a midwife or nurse or is it more of a support role for the parents? Sounds fantastic.
-
Bessi - It is amazing, I am sooooooo excited we will be back there in about 75 days!!:)
The course I am looking at doing is the Rhea Dempsey run course that Kelly Zantey did for her qualification as a Birth Attendant. You are there to support the parents from go to wo of their labour including pre natal visits and post natal visits. I can't wait to start the course, but it doesn't start till March :(
I will definately work at Monash Birthing Centre, I will work wherever women want to birth! I have to find 2 - 3 women next year who are happy to have me at their birth ( at no charge of course) in order to pass my course! and then after 9 months I will be a fully fledged Birth Attendant/Doula! I had both of my babies at Cabrini and I loved it there as well!
I will hopefully be able to work at Cabrini, masada, jessie mac, waverley private, monash, royal womens, st vinnies, freemasons etc and any other hospitals within an hour or so from Caulfield.
I was actually a Private and Business Banker prior to having my kids, so this is a big change of profession! I am actually planning to study midwifery as well, but that is alot more involved and will take a lot longer to do especially with little kids, so the Birth Attendant gets me into the industry and getting some experience!

Ems ~ The i-teeth are the incisors which are the pointy ones, some people call them vampire teeth. By swollen I mean that they are bulging out of the front of the gum, making the gum swollen and sore. I have heard from a few health workers that the incisors are the most painful to come through. They usually don't come through to around the 1 year old mark but you can never really tell, some babies are born with teeth and others get them very early, my neice for example, got her first tooth at 11 weeks old! But then on the other end of the scale my girlfriends little boy didn't get his foirst tooth until he was 15 months old. You never can predict when they will come or which will come first. Archer had all his one year old teeth and his i-teeth by the age of 11 months and never had any problems, no nappy rash or crying. Braxton has had a terrible time with his teeth and has only just finished cutting his i-teeth. You never know, Abby might be really good with her teeth and they might just appear. Is she showing a lot signs of teething?
Relle ~ It is amazing how different they can be isn't it? I really didn't know what to expect when Archer was teething and then when Braxton turned out to be a painful teether it was a bit of a shock since Archer teethed with no hassles. One thing I did learn from Braxton was that cooled chamomile tea worked so well to help calm him, my friend who is a naturopath actually told me about it, I checked with the paedietrician (SP? no brain tonight!) before I used it and he said it was fine. It helped him relax and sleep, particularly at night when he was awake with the pain and screaming the place down.
Hope everyone is well and happy.

Hey everyone :) Wow at all the big teething babies! LOL. I can't tell if Tallon is teething or not, I have a feeling something's moving around in there, but I don't think they're ready to surface yet. We've had monstrous nappies, and dribbling and chewing on everything, but it comes and goes.
I'm not sure how much he weighs now, but he's been in 0 wondersuits for a little while now, and 00's for everything else. Admittedly his cloth nappies put him up a size for pants. But he seems to need the bigger size for arm & leg length anyway.
I want to go shopping for a highchair soon too. We won't start solids until 6 months or more, depending on how he's going with sitting up etc. I can't remember where I read it, somewhere on BB I think, that babies should have good neck control (which he has) but also be able to sit unassisted before starting solids. So Tallon's not ready yet. He's still going well just on boobyjuice anyway :) And I love how portable that makes him LOL.
As for prams - we have the Valco Runabout Tri-mode. We love it. But I think we will invest in a cheap stroller at some stage for quick trips to the shops and for travelling.. and for when I'm pg with #2! There's no way I'll be able to get the Valco out the car with a belly! hehe. But the Valco is great to drive, we're really happy with it (and Tallon sleeps so well in it too!)
OK.. must go to bed.
Night! :asleep:
-
Morning everyone!
Just a quick question to go along with my earlier posts, What is everyones babies doing regarding daysleeps?
Cooper can still really only last for 1 and a half maybe 2 at a stretch before he is really grizzly and needing bed. He is not yet 5 months though, a little younger than most of your bubbas I think!
But I was just wondering. I know Campbell went to 2 daysleeps at 6 months (Cause I was very regimented and made him adjust to my routine) but Cooper has to go with the flow a bit more cause we are often out and about!
-
Relle - sounds great. I know what you mean about studying being so much harder (and slower!) with kids. I'm trying to finish off my dissertation for my Masters and my goodness it is hard. There is never enough time and certainly not in big enough blocks to get the brain in gear and make progress on the studying front!!! The birth attendent angle sounds like a great way of getting into the field while the kids are still little. I hope it all works out for you.
Emz - I am useless with technology but I'll try and get my husband to teach me how to get the video footage onto the computer and then I'll see if I can figure out how to show you the funny video of the Zeke caterpillar crawl! No guarantees though I'm not crash hot on that front!
-
Relle - on the day sleeps Zeke is probably not the best reference point as he's not crash hot on day sleeps! He sleeps so much at night he doesn't seem too keen to have long blocks in the day. He does still have at least one sleep per 4hr block in the day. Sadly he has never managed longer than 1/2 hr sleep per session though so I only have tiny blocks of time to cross things off my list during the day! If we're in the car or the pram though he'll sleep longer because of the rocking motion I guess.
So I think on average I'd say Zekie still has 3 sleeps per day each for 20-30 mins. He is in bed from about 6:30pm - 8:30am though so I can't complain,(he wakes up at about 6:30am has a nappy change and a feed and then comes back to bed with us for a few hours!) I absolutely love my sleep so for me being able to stay in bed till just before 9am is worth it!!! Now I need to learn to go to bed earlier and I might actually get a beautiful long stretch of sleep (my husband and I are both night owls and never go to bed before midnight... silly I know but it's such a habit for us both)
-
Hi girls
Wow, you've all been chatting away!
Relle - Lucy has two short day naps in the morning (max 40 mins each) and then one long nap in the afternoon, anything from 2-3 hrs. This is usually only when we're at home though. If we're out and about she tends to have shorter naps more frequently in the afternoon, rather than the long one (I guess she doesn't want to miss anything!). She then has one more nap before it's daddy play time, bath time, last feed and bed (about 7:30 - 8 pm). She sleeps through until anytime after 4 am for a feed, then back down until a much more civilised 7 am for another feed and the day begins!
Your birth attendant course sounds really interesting. I'm doing my Masters atm, but I've taken this year off to look after Lucy. I'll be back into it in January and then I only have a couple of subjects left. I can only imagine what a challenge it would be to study with two little ones! I'm thankful that I'll be all done by the end of next year, maybe earlier and I don't think I'll do any more after that. After doing half a bachelors in Economics, a bachelors in English and my Masters (in public policy, but it's not as boring as it sounds, really!) as well I think that's enough study for me!
Bessi - Zeke's caterpillar crawl sounds priceless! Yesterday we were at a friends place and I put Lucy on her tummy for a while and she moved herself half way across the play gym. So finally the leg movements seem to be getting her somewhere. She is starting to enjoy the angle from her tummy and stays there for ages if she's got something interesting to look at. Up to half an hour at most. Her sitting is getting much better, although she's still a bit wobbly. I totally empathise with the studying difficulties, although sometimes I wonder if it's a question of lack of motivation as well as too much else to do!
Oh, and since you asked, Lucy is breast fed and was a great feeder from the start so I don't take any credit for it going well! I am planning on bf her until she self-weans, as I won't be having another baby for some years. I'm guessing until about 2 years of age if she wants to? I'm also not planning on introducing solids until she is showing a real interest in food (other than just being interested 'cause it's something I'm doing) or I get any other signs that it's the right time. I find it all very confusing!
Steph - great tip on the cooled chamomile tea. I used to drink it before bed when I was pg and I think it really kept Lucy calm during the evening 'cause I didn't get any kicking then. Might have even contributed to her going down so easily at night after she was born too, since she was in a rhythm!
Em - good luck with the high chair shopping. We have to go and buy Lucy a cot in the next couple of weeks. The Boori cradle she's in is quite big but I'm concerned that since she can reach both sides at the same time she might get an arm stuck. Plus, she won't be far off being mobile and I don't want to find out too late that she could get herself out accidentally! We're going to get the Boori Matilda cradle (matches her other furniture - toy box, chest and bookcase - we already bought). Anyone else got one of their cots, and what do you think of it? I quite like the fact it converts to a toddler bed, so I'm planning on leaving her in it until school age (big girl gets a big bed then!).
Well, that's about it for us. I've spent the morning also looking after my gf's 3 mth old and I'm very thankful I don't have twins!! Two babies is a lot of work. And of course the dogs managed to get out to chase a cat mid-morning. Poor old DP had to rush home from work (thank goodness his office is only around the corner) and retrieve them. They'd bailed the cat up under someone's car and were completely ignoring my calls. DP gets to spend tomorrow morning fixing the fence now, lucky him.
Must do some work now...
-
Oh, I forgot to say - I weighed Lucy yesterday (5 months old) and she's 5.8 kgs, so I know she's not going to be a chubby baby at all! Especially now she's so active, she must burn off anything she eats. But she is in 00s as well, although some have arms and legs that are a bit long. Her body is quite long and the 000s are way too short.
-
Jen, I have the matilda chest and the paddington cot, or is it the other way round? anyway, this cot converts into a couch and a double bed, tho i have no idea how and dont think ill be taking advantage of that anyway... I think its absolutley fantastic. Their stuff is just beautiful and great quality.
Ive got to feed Abbykins, so ill be back with more later :)

Well everyone has certainly come out of the woodwork haven't they?????
Liam's update:
Highchair - we are using the same one we had for Bradley. It has a 5 point harness and it can be adjusted to three different height levels which is good depending on where i an sitting when feeding him. The only prob is because of his size we put him in it the other day and he kinda got lost. We had to put a towek under him to lift him up and a pillow behind him cause the harness is at it's tightest and i reckon i could fit another one of him in there. So as of yesterday i have put a peg on the stras to hold them tight.
Pram - Once again the same on we had for Brad. The good thing was that it had a twelve month warranty and some of the material had started to rub under the seat part where it sat in the car as i didn't hace the from bar on the pram, so it got replaced whenn Brad was about 10 months old so it is vertually brand new again. I have left the bar on the fromt this time so we don't have the same problem.
Food - Liam is now b/f x 4 at around 8am, 12pm then a serving of solids (usually pumkin and farex cereal or apple and ceral) about the size of a golf ball between 3 and 4pm and more bb milk again at 6pm and 10pm. Hopefully now he is eating he will bulk up a bit. He has also just started to gnaw on a rusk or biscuit mid morning....very messy but he loves it. Consequently my washing has increased since the solids but at leat now he is getting to wear more of his clothes!
Sleeping - After his last feed he will go staright to sleep and stay asleep till his morning feed. From there it is kind of a mixed bag depending on what we are doing. As i usually head out to do stuff after dropping brad at pre school he may sleep in the car or pram for varying lengths of time. After his solids in the afternoon he will sleep solidly (most of the time) until his 6pm feed, so about 2-3 hours. He will have another hour or so's sleep between the last two feeds and then call it a night. I should take advantage and go staright to bed after i put down but like Bessie DH and i are very much night owls too, so it is usually between 11 and 12 before i hit the sack. Thank got big bro has finished i was addicted to up late, but at least the majority of that i was still feeding liam more frequently.
Teething - alot of sucking and chewing on stuff but no discomfort. Liam loves chewing on rusks even if i am constantly picking it up for him and putting it back in his hand. He sometimes gets rosey little checks but Brad did the same from about 6 months and he didn't have teeth till after he was 1.
A big Woo Hoo for us that i posted ....we are finally in council for our house plans...it has only taken three months!
Gotta go Brad has just dropped a yoghurt all over the floor:eek:
Edited to say.......wow there were alot of spelling mistakes...too many to fix, Sorry

Hi everyone, I hope you're all well and your bubbas too.
Kas, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother  .
Imran is rolling around like a little fat log these days and even managed to almost commando crawl a few days ago so I think he'll be an early crawler/walker like Yasin was.
Highchair - I haven't even thought about a highchair yet. I started Yasin eating solids on my lap and I'll probably do the same with Imran. I want a new highchair because Yasin's needs to have the whole tray removed for cleaning and its a pita so I want one where the tray lifts out of the tray IYKWIM.
Feeding - Imran is still on breastmilk and I don't plan on any solids until at least 6 months. I'm in no rush to deal with solids poo LOL.
Pram - We have a valco something or other with a toddler seat - its not as stable as I'd like but at least its not gigantic like some of the prams for 2.
Teeth - there's lots of dribble but no teeth. I never knew Yasin was getting them until they popped up. I'm not the world's most observant mum LOL.
Sleep - hhmmmm like I said I'm not very observant but usually Imran is up for about 2 hours before he crashes out again. I've got his hammock downstairs at the moment for day sleeps and we co-sleep at night so we don't have many sleep dramas. I feel very blessed because I usually get enough sleep although I have 2 bubbas under 2. I remember some times when Yasin wouldn't sleep and it was awful.
We changed Imran to a forward facing car seat this-morning. I was a bit worried about him not being old enough but he was getting so grumpy in the capsule - since he's still too young for object permanance as far as he was concerned he was alone in the car so he would get bored and lonely very quickly. After we put him in the new seat he seemed much happier. Yasin wasn't too impressed because he's been moved up into a maxirider and he tends to resist change but he got over it fairly quickly.

Hello all Im really pleased to have found this forum as Its so great to have other ladies with bubs the same age having the similar experiences!
Lil Liv is in the 00s now soon to be 0s she is just soooo long now!
Has 4 teeth which have broken thru the gums! the fangs and the ones behind! but she has been a dream. Most ppl are in disbelief about the teething thing as she started approx 3 and a half mths, even a doctor!! Until he shone his lil torch in Livs mouth and ta da there they were!:p
She is thankfully a very patient bright and friendly baby (before I had her I had never ever changed a nappy in my life!!!) and has been content from day one allowing us to sleep all night, I swear she is spoiling me as the next will prob be a real challenge!
Anyway I hope to catch u all when ur online!
Byes from us:hugs:
-
Hi everyone,
Welcome to Tam and your little bub! I cant believe she has 4 teeth! How amazing!!
Well, I just wanted to let you all know how stupid i am!!
We went to a family party last night, on DF's side. All packed up and ready to go, but Abbykins was in bed sleeping. It was only going to be a 30 min drive, so i made two bottles up thinking she would go back to sleep in the car. Anyway, MIL was ment to come here at 6, so we got bub up and dressed ready to go... but MIL didnt show for a while and Abby got hungry so i gave her one of the bottles id made up. All well and good and off we go. There we are having a great time, everyone saying what great parents we are and how wonderful abby is.... 9pm comes round and she starts doing her "feed me" grunt... i grab her bottle and hand it to DF, thats when i realise that its got a stopper on it and no teat!!! I was thinking id use the one teat but ofcourse she had that before we left, so i didnt have a friggin teat and she started screaming!!
We did a frantic run down the street to see if the supermarket was open, but it cosed at 9 and no place in town had any teats or crappy bottles! The joys of living in a country town. We got back there, and Abby was happy having a cuddle with her nan and i said i was sorry and we had to go. Then DF's Aunty went to see her neighbour who had a bub to see if we could borrow one (which i felt really bad about, and just wanted to go home) she came back with a big box of everything and we boiled a teat up and all was well. I just kept saying sorry to poor little Abby, she has such a silly mum. Everyone else thought it was no big deal but i was crushed by the whole thing. How could i be so silly!!!!
anyway..... that was my saturday night.
Hope all the bubs and mums are doing well!
-
Hi all
Just a quick one as Lucy is helping me type and seems to prefer using different keys to the ones I want to use!
Had a rotten weekend as I've gotten another bout of mastitis, same bb, right one. This time I have a very painful lump, obviously a blocked duct. Still hasn't cleared but it seems to be easing. Luckily I had some antibiotics on hand this time after my last bout 'cause I don't think I'd have been able to get down to the drs yesterday morning the state I was in. Just awful and I'm seriously hoping this is the last time it happens.
Welcome to Tam & Olivia (great middle name by the way! Same as Lucy's too!). Look forward to getting to know you better. OMG at her teeth!
Hi Dach and Kas. Dach - Lucy can wriggle herself forward a fair way when she's on her belly, is that a commando crawl? She loves watching the dogs in that position so she tends to get a fair bit of tummy time.
Must go, hope everyone is doing well.
-
Hi Em, we must have been posting at the same time. Forgetting a teat isn't that big a deal, considering the rush you must have been in to leave! I'm sure Abby has already forgotten!! LOL
-
Has anyone got the post-natal hair loss thingy going on? I washed my hair this morning and I couldn't believe how much came out. I know that its just the hair that didn't fall out while I was pregnant coming out and I'm not going bald but its still freaky (and reminds me I need a haircut).
Also is anyone starting to get annoying comments/hints about starting solids? My little rolly polly monkey is doing just fine without them and I wish people would keep thier big stupid noses out of my business
-
Hi Chlo - yep, my hair loss seems to have picked up too. But I think you don't lose much while you're pg so there's that much more when you're not, IYKWIM. Haven't had any comments yet about starting Lucy on solids, but they're sure to start coming soon, since she'll be six mths in a few weeks and I'm not planning on introducing anything for a bit yet. In our allergy-ridden family I think I'm best off holding off for as long as I can. Plus, since she only looks so little I don't think most people realise she's 5 mths already. Maybe that's part of your problem with Imran, people assuming he's older?
-
The hair thing- OMG!! For me its really quite bad just normally, but then no loss in pregnancy, but now.... its just horrible. I cant even wear my hair down. Its just all over the place.... the floors are covered in my hair and i have to clean it up constantly. I know its a normal thing to happen, but its that bad that im going to talk to my GP about it this week when i go in... my hair line is receding!! Im a freak!!
As for solids. My mum is on my back about it 24/7. Shes had a couple of trys but im not starting till after i talk to her pead when we go in on Thursday to check out her little heart. Ill go with what he suggests. Im just sick of ppl telling me to feed or or not to feed her, I feel that she is ready and im sick of making little top up bottles, but i want to be able to say "well her dr said to do this, so this is what we are doing" IYKWIM
Well, we didnt end up getting a high chair on the weekend. We were too busy with family stuff and the band stuff to even get near the shops! But I did go shopping with my sis on friday for her baby (little boy due in 5 weeks). I ended up spending just over $300 on Abbykins, most of it on things for her room. It now looks soooo sweet and beautiful. She deserves it! Shes just such a wonderful little thing.... sighhhh hehehe
-
Um.. haven't noticed any unusual hairloss. Just normal here. Always lose hair first comb after washing.
Starting solids.. yup.. my mum is constantly implying that I'm torturing my son making him watch us eat, but not giving him anything. I think he will be ready by 6 months tho, coz he really does watch longingly. I don't really want to start earlier than that.
Jen - good idea waiting as long as possible for solids if you have allergies in the family.
Emz - don't stress about forgetting the teat. We went out yesterday.. without the pram or the nappy bag! (thanks to DH.. duh). Luckily Tallon didn't fill his nappy with one of his regular explosions! LOL. And he didn't chuck either, so we were lucky.
Well, we went and looked at a friends place yesterday to rent.. she's moving out at the end of September, and we went to see if we wanted it. We LOVE it. 4 bedroom, with loads of living space downstairs (we won't have the furniture to fill it! LOL). There's a perfect rumpus room we can setup with a toybox and everything else for Tallon. It's so exciting. Now we just have to hope we can jump in there when she gives notice before the agency advertises it! Very stressful waiting I can tell you.. coz we want it so bad! hehe.
Welcome to Tam & Olivia too! Wow at the teeth! Still waiting for any -real- signs here.
Well, must go.. it's getting increasingly more difficult to post with this little man on my lap! LOL. I gave him the labeller to play with so he has his own keyboard to punch instead of mine! hehehe. Now it's all slobbered over
-
LOL at the slobbered on labeller Ivana. Had a good giggle at that one! Good luck with the house. I would love to have more space, but it's got to wait for now...
-
Ivana- good luck with the house! Hope you get it.
Im just about sick of our house that we are renting. I think we are going to start looking into building seriously this week. We are in a 3 bedroom place and there is just no room for anything, we have bubbys room, our room and then the office. All our music gear (2 amps, 5 guitars) is in the lounge! We just need more space.. oh a dishwasher! hehehe
Anyway, apparently its nap time! Thats what im being told... im getting the put me to bed grunts! hehe
-
Welcome Tam, wow @ the teeth. Liv sounds just like my neice, her first tooth broke through at 11 weeks then they just kept coming. She is 7 months old now and has 8 teeth. Look forward to hearing more from you soon.
I hope all mums and bubs are happy and healthy.
-
ummm its almost 4pm and my baby is still sleeping!!! shes only had one bottle at 10ish. Poor little thing. We were at mums last night till about 11:30 and she couldnt get to sleep and was cranky and overtired. Shes usualy in bed by 9-10 but she didnt get to lay down till about 12:30ish by the time we got home.
I would have usualy put her down in mums bed, but they went and got a cat so i could only put her in her porta cotty, which she dosent really like.... I might go snuggle up next to her and she if she will wake up with a few kisses and a bit of a chat...
-
Just popping in to say a big welcome to Tam and Olivia and i will post properly tomorrow.
-
Oh man.. I just realised I haven't taken Tallon for his 4mth needles! woops! shoulda signed up for the reminder thingy.
-
Ivana- im the same. Abby had a cold when they were due so i didnt bother taking her then, she was already out of sorts!!
We are taking her on friday. She was pretty good after the 8 week ones. She was a tiny bit unsettled but nobody else could even notice it as shes such a good baby anyway- so when i think shes unsettled people just do get what im talking about. Anyway, we will then have the weekend together to deal with any fall out!!
-
Dach - I have noticed a bit of hair loss but nothing major. i have noticed that it seems to be growing faster though!!!
Jen - i hope the mastitis is clearing up for you. I have noticed my bb's have been itchy at the nipple and when i looked it like a dermititis dryness. I have had psoriosis on my arms and legs before so i am just hoping it doesn't get like that:pray: .
Ivana - fingers crossed you get to move into the house your friends are leaving. It sounds like it would be great.
Emz - After reading your post about Abby's bottles the other night i kinda did something similar today. I fed Liam at 8.30am and again at whilst i was out at 12.30pm by the time we got home at 2pm he was cranky so i put him bed. He slept through till about 5pm when i gave him the solids he usually has before his long afternoon nap. I was then working out what time i would feed him before i went to bed and about an hour later realised he had missed a feed:eek: for some reason the fact that Liam had been crying and unsettled and my bb's were so full still didn't register that he was well and truly ready for some milka! Sometimes i think alot can be said for routine....and when a mother runs on auto pilot sometimes it doesn't help when the routine is changed:doh: .
In regards to solids......do what you think is right. Don't let people tell you when you should start. As much as they are trying to "help" only you/DH and your baby will know when the time is right. I was all keen for waiting till 6 months (just gave me somthing else to organise each day) but Liam was not putting on weight and did not seem content so we started at 5.5 months. I must say i felt more confident when the CFHC nurse agreed with me. Each babe is different and will be ready in their own time. I now remember why i was enjoying only b/f.....the poo's stink and i am washing so much more now cause he likes to chew on the bibs while he is eating:eek: ...messy little man!
Now that Liam is eating solids i am starting to wonder where the last 6 months have gone. My baby is growing up so fast and it only feels like last week that he was born.
Take care

oh my goodness! What an old man! LOL. Isn't the time flying tho :( Not our little babies anymore. They're little people! hehe.
I'll be taking Tallon for his needles tomorrow. Thought I'd better get it out the way before the meetup on Tuesday, incase he gets out of sorts for a couple of days.
Will catch up tomorrow hopefully. Gotta go put the boy to bed. Cya!

Hi girls
Wow - I can't believe Liam is six months old already!!! It seems like we were all pg just last week! Congrats, Kas, on his half-birthday! Does that mean it'll only seem like the same amount of time until they're one? OMG!
Ivana - I would forget too except I book in for the next round of needles when we have one lot done, if that makes any sense. That way it's in my diary (and I just have to remember to look at that!). Hope he goes okay today. I'm giving Lucy Panadol beforehand again next time, last time I didn't and she was inconsolable in the afternoon. Ooops.
Kas - ewww, I am not looking forward to solids poos. I am waiting until 6 mths at least. Even though Lucy is only really light (5.75 kgs at GPs on Wed, only 150 gm gain in a month), she isn't waking up during the night and is happy, alert and active, so I'm guessing she's just burning it all off. She is getting longer (61 cms), just not fatter! My GP says we'll weigh her again in a couple of weeks when she goes in for her needles and make a call after that. But if she's a happy bub and sleeping well she said I didn't need to worry.
Em - hope Abby goes okay with her needles today too. Poor little bubs, all getting jabbed!
Well, I'm feeling a lot better, thanks in part to the 11 hours between feeds overnight!! She didn't wake up until 6:15 am this morning for a feed. She stirred at 2:50 am, too early for a normal feed, so I gave her her dummy, expecting her to wake an hour later to be fed, but no! It's only the third time she's gone all the way so I'm not getting my hopes up.
Lucy is moving along quite well when I put her down for tummy time. The legs are wriggling from the knees like she's trying to get the crawling thing happening. She can sit for a good five seconds on the floor without wobbling now. Her biggest obstacle is that she reaches out for toys and tips herself over. She's also now rolling over as soon as she's had enough of tummy time or 'resting' her head until she hears something interesting (she could roll pretty early, but she hasn't done it often).
I'm excited about meeting you and Tallon next week, Ivana! He looks like such a cutie!!
I think we're going to buy Lucy's cot on the weekend, I'm worried she's getting too mobile for the cradle. Very exciting!! Should have happened last weekend, but I would have had to get out of bed for that.
Hope everyone else has a good weekend and bubs are all okay after needles!

Hello everyone - where are you all?? I know some of you have been lurking around other threads!!
Well, since no one else is around I guess I'll just post about us...
I'm much better now, think the antibiotics and the hot and cold packs before and after feeds have completely cleared the mastitis. I'm thinking positively, that's the last time I'll have it!
Lucy has cut back on her naps now and the long naps of previous weeks for 2 hrs or so are out of the window. She's now down for about 3-4 naps a day of 40 mins each. BUT on the good side, she's extended her night sleep for an extra hour and I'm not waking up before 5 am now!! In fact, on the weekend, she woke up 5:30 am and then I took her into bed with us and we all slept in until after 8 am!
Poor old DP spent all of yesterday rebuilding the back fence and is so sore today he can hardly move. But there's no way now our dogs can get over or under it! It's almost 6 ft high and is dug into the ground, so any amount of tunnelling should be halted. Of course, now they'll probably target the side fence, but fingers crossed it doesn't happen for at least a few months! Give DP a chance to recover and forget what a hassle this one was.
We went cot shopping, but I'm trying to get a better price on it today. Anyone know what the issue is with switching her from cradle to cot if she isn't too big for the cradle? It's mobility right? She can't pull herself up yet, but is rolling heaps more. In fact, tummy time is very difficult now, 'cause she just keeps rolling over. And she's wriggling around so much on her back I think it'll be somersaults everywhere very soon. Now when I put her down somewhere and turn away, she's manoeuvered herself off the mat or is facing the opposite direction. I'm going to have to start baby-proofing...
Must go, work to do. Hope everyone else is good!
