Hi
Soul- I am glad to hear everything is well with you and your family and it is fantastic you want to have another baby, you are much braver than me.Six is my limit, which is good as we can't have any more anyway.Phoenix is gorgeous.I wondered how you were so I was happy to see you were bacK.
Cass- Erin is doing really well, she is a big girl, not quite the petite thing I thought she would be...lol. She has been on solids since she was 4.5months and absolutely loves her food, she sleeps all night and has for ages, she is sitting up but still needs something to support her as she tends to go sideways after a little while. She is rolling all over the place and moves around in circles, backwards and pushes herself forwards. She looks so cute when she is trying to move, she is very strong. She is what we call the Dream Baby, after 5 horrors we finally got it right...lol.
I hope Oscar is feeling better,it is horrible when they are not well, the best thing you can do is to try and keep his nose clear of mucous and for him to bring it all up.
Jo- I bet Nic looked very cute trying to get the balls and moving around in circles. There is always something new that they do and it is so enjoyable to watch them everyday.
Hi to everyone else and their beautiful babies
Take care
Michelle

Soul, thank you so much, you are such a beautiful person :) My poor little possum doesn't know what is happening and he actually looks a little frightened sometimes when he breathes back in and it starts a coughing fit (lucky it's only a few times this has happened) and then he struggles to calm himself so he can stop coughing. Oh I have the most gorgeous pic of Joshua and Oskar... Joshua was being totally natural cos he didn't know I was about to take a piccie and he was smiling at Oskar and Oskar has this look on his face as if he's going... omg wow...lol. Oooh it's actually on the website.. just checked... pic 16 in the 12 wks to 4 months... ahhh I love that one and the one of them laying together on the floor. Joshua really adores him it's so lovely. I think Andy wants to get another tatt acutally. I just hope he doesn't want to squeeze my hand like I did to him when I had my second done. It hurt on some areas so I was squeezing his hand to take my mind off it...hahaha it hurt him apparently, oops! Isn't it amazing how in such a short amount of time they can speak, crawl, etc ... it's just simply amazing and so beautiful to watch this transformation. I just absolutely LOVE watching Oskar discover new things and the total look of amazement on his face as he watches his hand and how it moves ... I love it... ahhhhh the simple things.
Michelle, must be cos girls are better huh...pmsl. Boys have germs..ahaha. Sounds like she's doing great!! Oskar can't be bothered with rolling... he twists himself around instead..lol. How do I bring all the mucous up for him?? Any suggestions would be fab! I was thinking of maybe even getting a vapouriser??
-
Well my loittle princess is sleeping for the first time in I don't know how long so I thought I would get on here and do a proper post. Wow at all the new ladies, it's so great to see more march mums. Ari has been such a little trooper I am so proud of her and touch wood seems to be on the road to recovery now. She was actually starting to get herself onto her knees before getting sick so I think she will be even more mobile soon.
Cass - Hope oskar is feeling better soon, ari says to say she knows just how he feels. I have run out of sheets after all the gross snot spews we have had in the past few days. I might try the vicks tonight if she is phelmy again.
Soul - I have a non-sleeper too, great to see some more wakeful babies around!
Jo - sounds like Nic is doing fab. Ari had carpet burn on her forehead for a few days before she worked out how to comando crawl.
Caro - I thought the fruit thing was more because if you give them whole uncooked fruit they can choke on it as they can bite small pieces off.
an anyone give me info on when we start wheat and custards and things like that. I was surprised to see wheat rusks and also farex custard that advises you make it up with full cream milk (not boiled) from 6 mths - have the rules changed again?
Shell - great to hear from you again, it is so hard to keep up with all the chatter sometimes isn't it.
Cass_blob - glad to hear your having a good get a way, hope the custody things settles down soon.
OK so now Karina and Rachel are MIA. I think we are getting to the time when people were going back to work aren't we. I know I've been thinking about it more and more. Really should do something about daycare but I've been avaoiding it.
Alrighty better go, hope even one is doing well and having a good night.
-
Sarah - I cracked up about Ari getting a carpet burn on her forehead (poor baby!!), I think Nic is going to get one too! H ereally pushes his head down onthe the floor!
Cass - that's really gorgeous with Joshua and Oskar. What a beautiful memory to have captured. I have a great photo of the girls "interviewing" Nicholas after he rolled over for the first time. They didn't know I had the camera either.
Hi Michelle! you need to change your name to Mum 5 Boys and 1 girl now! The pics of Erin are just beautiful. I am so glad to hear that she is thriving with all those boys around her. Just imagine how hard it is going to be for her to have a boyfriend with so many "protectors" around!
We bought a video camera the other day so have been getting heaps of footage of Nicholas as he is trying to move along. Also lots of good (and incriminating) stuff of the girls! They have been "waltzing" around the lounge room tonight, it was hillarious! Jas was in their school talent quest today - she sang "Stupid Cupid" with a group of girls in her class, it was very cute as they had made up their own dance moves as well. I swear Nicholas said Dad Dad or Dadda today. DH thought so too, he was babbling away heaps this afternoon and when DH was dressing him for bed, he came running into the bathroom to tell me he had said Dadda! My little man, all grown up!
-
Cass- When Erin had bronchialitis we went and bought a vaporiser and we used that before she went into hospital and then after.I think that it helped her to breathe a little easier at night and sleep more comfortably.
We also squirted saline drops up her nostrils to clear out all the gunk, she hated it but it helped her and we elevated her mattress.
Hope this helps.
No, girls aren't better its just finally our turn after the other 5 to have a good one...lol.
Saram- Sorry to hear your little one wasn't well and I am very happy to hear she is doing better now.
It is very scary when they end up in hospital especially since they are so little, it just breaks your heart seeing them like that doesn't it.
Take care
Michelle
-
Hi Jo, I might have to do that. Erin won't be dating for at least 30 years with 5 big brothers to scare off the boys not to mention the over protective mother, poor baby hasn't got a chance...lol.
Nic is very clever talking already, Erin babbles lots but she hasn't actually spoken a word yet.
Take Care

Hey there ladies.
I am back. I have been reading but just not posting.
Sarah, thnkyou so much for the nappies. They are fantastic and fit on Claires bum very nicely. How is Ari going? Hope she is much better now. When I asked the ECN last week, I was told not to give full cream milk until 12 months. She said if I want to put milk with anything for Claire, just to use breast milk or formula.. so as far s i know, the guidelines havent been changed.
Cass, is Oskar feeling better now? I've been meaning to get the Pixiphotos done. How did yours turn out? Aww how gorgeous is the picture of Oskar and Joshua!
Jo, woohhoo about Nics longer sleeps! We are still on 45 minutes sleeps during the day! That sounds cute , how he was going around in circles.
hello to everyone else!!! hello and welcome Soul!
Claire has been a bit sick this week, with coughing lots, big snot blobs, vomiting and not taking breast. She hasnt been sleeping well either and was up until 3 am today. Right now she is with DH and he is making faces and noises and she is laughing lots, so i think she is feeling much better. I did take her to see the GP and he checked a few things and decided she was ok but told me to bring her back on friday if she had not shown any improvement. Luckily she was a lot better on friday so I didnt go back. Sharing is caring and DH likes to live up to that, so when he gets sick, he shares it with us.
How is everyone going with Solids? We are trying but I dont think we are doing very well. She vomits every time! We've done farex on its own, farex mixed with fruits or veggie, fruit on its own (apple and pear), pumpkin, sweet potato on its own.. She just VOMITS and then screams at me! Is that normal or am I doing it wrong?
-
Karina - is claire gagging before she vomits Ari gags if the food isn't completely smooth - ie not out of a can hehe It appears my pureeing is not as good as golden cirlces either that or she doesn't like my cooking already. If it's not the gagging and she is vomitting more than when she was on just milk I would stop for a few weeks and try again later and ask your ECHN her little tummy may just prefer mummy's milk a bit longer. MY ds didn't have solids until 9mths - 1 yr and we went straight to finger foods. Ari is not into feeding much at the moment either, very hard to get her on the breast long enough to get a let down but she will drink when she is hungry. We have backed off solids a little while she is sick as she isn't that hungry anyway and I think booby milk is better for them when they are sick anyway.
Caro - it will be sad to see you go, is there any reason that you want to share? I think you hve my email but if not try bsxamcdonald@gmail.com, I would love to keep in touch.
Jo - WTg on the talking, that is sooooo cute. I can't believe how quick these babies are growing up :-( . I swear Ari's first word will be XANDER as thats all she ever hears (pmsl) She does mimick the word 'hello' when someone says it to her but it's more teletuby ehh ohhh.
Michelle - yes it was not fun seeing Ari in hossy but luckily after an x ray and observation we could go home. i don't know how I would have coped if they needed to be more invasive. I feel so much for people with really sick babies, I just don't know how they do it.
Well Ari is back to her old sefl although still snotty and gross. She ate all her vegies today and in typical Ari fashion stayed awake the whole time we were at DS fete as there were new people to goo and gaa at whol all thought she was gorgeous. The funniest thing was she discovered her feet (and fat knees - so funny to see her grab those chuncky knees) the other day and toay I had those rattle socks on and they were driving her bonkers as she was trying to put the rattles in her mouth but couldn't get them off her feet. Oh cracked me up
-
Hi everyone :hello:, sorry I haven't been posting, I have been reading though and trying to keep up with everything but with all this chatter that is rather difficult!
Caro, hadn't heard that about the fruit but going by the second quote that you wrote, sounds like it is just to soften the fruit to make it easier to puree. banana, avacado and papaya are very soft and squishy anyway so that's why you wouldn't have to cook them first. My MCHN said that apart from strawberries (in the fruit and vege department), everything else can be introduced slowly now. We have given grace peaches, pears and apples all uncooked and she has been fine. We just put the apple in one of those net things that you can buy and she munches on it, no choking hazard. Why have you decided to leave BB if you don't mind me asking.
Sarah, I am glad to hear that Ari seems to be on the improve. Poor little munchkin, you have both had such a tough run, I hope things continue to get better for you. Thanks for thinking of me! Not back at work until the end of January although I do worry about money a fair bit and wonder whether i should go back sooner but really don't want to so that i can guarantee christmas off as we are going to adelaide for this christmas which would be hard to do if i was working! No, I don't think the rules have changed. I did read somewhere that mixing things with a little bit of cow's milk isn't a problem but I don't really see the need for it. My understanding for no cow's milk is because it doens''t have the appropriate nutrients required for under 12 months so they don't want people to give this as their milk drinks instead of BM/formula - i don't believe (although I may be wrong) there is any other reason. My MCHN said once they are establised on two food types such as veges and fruit then you can start introducing other things. eggs are a big no no until later so has to be egg free custard (you can buy egg free custard in the tins, but they also sell custard in the tins for the 6 month age group that contains egg...go figure. having said that they also sell fruit of the forest gel for the 6 month age group which contains strawberries..another big no no!!). don't know about the wheat but from what i gathered come 8 months we can start intoducing slowly pretty much most things (except honey and strawberries etc). apparently by 12 months they should be able to eat everything we eat.
Cass, so sorry to hear that Oskar is feeling under the weather. Hope he is on the improve soon and returns to his happy bubbly self.
Jo, yay on the longer day sleeps. fingers crossed they continue for you.
Shell, great to hear from you. Glad everything is going well with little emily. What a clever girl sitting on her own.
Cass, you must be getting excited about your 21st. Hope you get that marriage proposal you are after. Glad Izzy is doing so well.
Karina, sorry to hear Claire is not well this week either. Hope she keeps improving and you get your happy little girl back. With the solids are they really pureed or a bit chunky? Babies have a very strong gag reflex which is intentional so that they don't choke but can make it difficult for them to negotiate food that is thicker than milk initially. If it is a bit chunkier may I suggest you puree it to smooth and thin it out with BM, formula or cooled boiled water and see how that goes. Try one food at a time...i know grace gagged on the taste of banana!!! Good luck with it all, i'm sure you're not doing anything wrong, some children just take longer to get used to it than others.
As for us we are doing fabulous. We had been having some issues with Grace waking for an extra 2 feeds overnight since 4 months old but recently I have realised that they were more comfort feeds than hunger feeds (she would spit the milk all over me!). I was told by the MCHN to get tough with her which we did and it has worked (touch wood). She has slept through for almost a week now, not jumping for joy yet but I am feeling much happier and not as tired! Solids are going really well, she loves her veges - we have given her sweet potato, potato, carrot and broccolli. She is getting better with fruit - absolutely loves peaches. We've started to chunk it up a bit now too. She rolls everywhere and gets into everything! She can sit on her own for short periods now (there are recent photo's on the website). She's very vocal. Makes me laugh with her vocalisations and funny faces. It's hard to believe that they are 6 months now!
I'm sorry if i've missed anyone and everything (i'm sure I have but I can't remember everything!). Take care and speak to you all soon.
-
Haha, didn't see your post Sarah, you snuck it in while i was busy typing. glad to hear Ari is better today. Grace likes to eat her feet too...hope they give that up once they are walking!
-
Michelle, thanks for the tips. I have done the saline drops and yup he hates them! He was really out of sorts this evening and even screamed in the car late this afternoon. I think it's a mixture right now of the awful cough, he was tired (hadn't slept much at all today) and I think he may be teething as well. Poor little possum. He even cried in the bath which he usually loves. I gave him some panadol, rubbed some bonjela on his gums, gave him boob and he napped on me..lol.. for about 15 mins.. then woke up all smiles and cracking up laughing. He's sleeping now, so I hope he has a better sleep, he was rather unsettled last night.
Sarah, give big huggles to Ari from Oskar. I will tell him what Ari said in the morning (cos I'm willing him to sleep all night..lol). I am so glad to hear that Ari is feeling better. PMSL @ snotty sheets. It's soooooo disgusting isn't it! I have sooooo many snotty cloth nappies from grabbing whatever is nearest (usually a nappy) to wipe his coughs etc. Although, it could be worse so I'm grateful it isn't.
Jo and Karina, thanks, I love the pic.
Jo, I can't believe how clever your little man is! They are so precious aren't they. I love all the laughs I get from him and how he makes me crack up. How cute Jas would've been. It's funny how some of them just love to act etc and some are really quiet/shy about that...hehe.
Karina, I get the pics in 2 weeks. I think they'll be good though cos he was smiling and putting on the charm as he does with the ladies...pmsl. I was going to suggest as well that maybe Claire isn't quite ready for the solids?? Maybe give her a break and try in a week. I did that with Oskar... just tried every now and then. This week is the first time he's had them for a few nights in a row. Didn't do it tonight though, he was just way to upset and unsettled. BTW, great to see you again :)
Rachel, great to see you too!! Sounds like Grace is doing great! I have one of those net things too... he had banana in it this morning and it was all squishy and he was rubbing it everywhere...lol. He doesn't like mashed banana, but likes it as is... sucks on mine but I worry a big chunk will break off so I put it in the net thing today and that worked until it was really mushy..lol.. yuck to clean after though. OMG she's getting more and more beautiful. Ahhh how they grow, I was looking at her just born pics. I love going back and just reliving those first moments with my little man, it's such a beatiful, precious memory and I will cherish it forever.
The other day I bought Oskar a bottle... just so he can start to get used to having some water soon and I had those non drip sippy cups but man they're way too hard to get the water out of! Anyway, he spent the past two days just chewing on the teat and CRYING if I took it off him..lol. I even tried some EBM (cos I have a blocked duct AGAIN!!) but he wouldn't take that this morning. This arvo I expressed again to try to shift this blockage and thought I'd try the bottle again... well once I turned him in a bit more towards me and leant the bottle against me he worked it out... was sooo cute, not so cute when the EBM ran out though... woah nelly don't do that again...lol. So, tomorrow I'll try a bit of water in it for him. Very proud of my little man... he's never had a bottle before but he got it eventually ;) Well, he's still asleep and I'm pretty tired as we've had a few unsettled nights in a row so gonna go to bed myself I think. He's on our bed, so I think I'll leave him there and just curl up next to him.
-
Hi Cass, thanks. I know what you mean. i love looking back at those photo's too - i could sit there all day just looking at photo's of her! good luck with the bottle and water thing. it took grace a short while to get used to water but now she takes it eagerly - she's had the occasional bottle from birth though. Good luck. I should go to bed too, i get sucked into this thing too much! lol!
-
Hi,
Sara - Glad to see Ari is better, how was the fete? Im sure Emilys first word will be "Renae" (her big sisters name - same - thats all she hears!)
Jo - How cute on Nicolas saying his first word! Emily blabbles heaps but no words yet - although if shes like her sis once she stars she'll never stop!
Caro - I'll be sorry to see you go :(,
Karina - As someone else posted - mabey Claire isnt ready for solids? Or just doesnt like the food!!
Ozziehoffy - I know what you mean about those sippy cups! Em just bites dont on the mouth piece but wont suck the water through.
Rachel - How cute on the rolling and getting into everything, just wait until she's crawling!!
Mum5boys - Your poor little girl with all the brothers! (but good for you!) I have 2 older brothers and that was a nightmare for me. Dumb question i know but im really intrested in what type of car ppl drive when they have more than three kids?
And hello to everyone else - i have to be quick otherwise i get logged out and the post wont go through.:)
-
Re the solids, yep, only been doing one food at a time. She spews any solid foods! It doesnt matter what it is.. it still gets spewed. I havent tried avo yet though. I might give that a go. If she doesnt like it, then I can eat it!
Sarah, no she doesnt really gag before spewing. She'll just be sitting there and all of a sudden she spews! Its very wierd, but , good suggestion, I will try to make her food a bit more smooth/runny. I've been doing what the silly ECHN said to do - she tells us "dont puree it, just mush it with a fork". I still puree it though as I cant get it nice and smooth enough just by fork mashing it. I dont know about the ECHN.. she doesnt have children so some of the advice she gives is a bit strange sometimes.. YAY that Ari is much better!! Oooh how cute that she has found her feet. Claire loves to suck on her toes at the moment. Its very funny to watch. We have those rattle socks too. Claire just takes them off as soon as I put them on her though.
Cass, I bet he'll hve the ladies chasing after him when he is older, hey! Claires a real booby girl and loves her booby.
Shell, yeah maybe she isnt ready for solids. I'll go to the ECHN this week and ask for help!
Ohh someone has one of those food mesh net thingos.. maybe I could get one and try that and she could chomp on something, just to get used to the taste? She chomps on anything she can pick up now. What sort of stuff do you put in it?? It is just things that are a bit hard like raw apple or is it mushy stuff?
ohhhhhhhh she is awake! gotta go
-
Wow, 2 days in a row, I'm doing well. I am shopping for nappy stuff so get to browse bellybelly while things are loading. Karina - what on earth were you doing posting at 2am! OMG I thought I was bad going to bed late.
We spent the arvo at the beach today, it was such a beautiful day. Ari was not impressed by the salt water/sand. She loved it while dry but when the waves were lapping at her she chucked a wobbly and blooming Strand, no sowers/changerooms nearby so I tried to wash her off ina drinking fountain which is very hard to do with a wiggly babe and those silly taps that don't stay on unless your holding them. A lovely lady came and held the tap while I tried to wash my screaming wiggly baby in the drinking fountain - must have been quite a sight. I'm sure people thought she'd been stung by a stinger. I have the most gorgy photos of her in the water (before the screaming and eating sand hehe) wil post them in this new fangled photo thing I've seen in the top corner soon.
Rachel - woohoo so good to hear from you! Hey don't ever feel you can't post because you don't have time for personals, you know we only want to hear about your beautiful girl Grace :-) I have gotten very attached to our little belly buddies/babies group so it's not allowed to fall apart :-) Sounds like Grace and Ari would get along famously they could both roll around looking for mischief :-) I am going to have to get more exciting with Ari's food. You've inspired me.
Cass - hope your blocked duct clears up soon, have you worked out whats causing it? I know I had 1 bra that used to cause them each time I wore it. We are searching for a sippy cup that ari will like but so far it either flows too fast or not fast enough, might try a bottle and see how we go?
Shell- gosh your sig is beautiful! Emily is just gorgeous. I think Ari is going to be a talker too, I think I may need to invest in a soundproof room with both of them going non-stop.
Karina - hope you find a solution that suits soon, I hate vomit - ugh. We have a mesh and so far have put in banana which is really messy some pear and some apple and cubes of ice but Ari isn't big on holding things herself so it doesn't work all that well for us.
OK going to try and have a shower and get to bed before little missy wakes up. Anyone elses bubs still sleep school drop outs? Ari still wakes at around 11pm-midnight then at 5am, 7am. Not to mention all the niggly wake ups between 7pm and 10pm but they are getting better. She olny has a feed at 11, the rest of the time it's just resettling (oh anyone else find bub keeps waking up as they are trying to get up on hands and knees in their sleep? - I think I remember something like this with DS when he was a bit older, but I can't remember exctly?????)
-
Sarah, lol, Claire doesnt sleep all the way through the night so I'm up at all hours! She sleeps on her tummy now and tries to put her bum up in the air, its very cute. She is waking around 11pm, 1am, 3m and 6am, so thats when I'm awake! But sometimes i just get hungry in the middle of the night and I have to get up and eat. Oooh i'm planning on taking Claire to the beach! She loves her baths but not sure if she'll like the beach. I think we are going to go with our mothers group soon.
We went to the Baby and Kids market today. It was only up the road from home so thought I;d check it out with my mum and sister. Mum went crazy and bought a portable cot, stroller, a pile of little toys books and rattles for like 50c each, those fisher price block things, a rocking horse type thing and a castle type thing which i think the fisher price blocks go with. She spent $100 so we got some great bargains as something very similar to the portable cot we got ws advertised in a Big W book recently for bout $160. My sister wanted me to get another car seat so we could put it in mums car for when she babysits, but I am not so sure how I feel bout a second hand seat from someone I dont know as I have no way of knowing what its been through. My sister doesnt understand though because 'so and so used the same seat for all three of her kids over 7 year period".... yah, bub she bought it brand new. The seats there could have been damaged for all I know and theres not really any way I can really test the integrity of them. We do have a second hand seat but we got it from friends we know well and can trust. Maybe I am just over paranoid!
-
Ok, so ive worked out that if im on most days (bad weather keeps us indoors) i can keep up with everyone's posts and not get too overloaded!
Sara - Thanks fo the coment on my sig! How cute Ari would have been wiggling around in the water fountian! Reminds me of Em - chucking the wobbly!! i get this from her when she thinks shes been the pram too long! Cant wait to see your photos!
Karina - Good luck with Claire and the solids. I know what you mean about the car seat thing, im funny with anything i dont know where its been, as you said, you dont know whats happened it it.
I brought a umbrella for Em's 3 wheeler pram yesterday - its the main thing i hate about it, if im walking at the sun i cant get it out of her face (hence the purchase of the umbrella) But the umbre3lla hooks onto the side of the pram which was good - mind you the bloody thing cost $30 - for a small umbrella!!
Any one else got one of these prams - what do you do??
must go - Emilys on my knee trying to touch the keyboard!

Time for a new thread everyone
