Babies Born May 16th - 31st 2008 #2

hey everyone,
i thought i would pop in quickly while i have some quiet time. 2 of my kids r away today so i only have 2 and jayda so it is a very quiet day.
jayda had her 6 week check up and needles last friday it didnt even bother her she cried for like a min when they put it in her legs then stopped.
someone mentioned about dtd. i stopped bleeding about 4 weeks after and we dtd then. then i started bleeding a week later then it stopped again yesterday and we dtd last night.
i have been back on the pill from a week after jayda was born because i am not breastfeeding and i wasnt taking any chances lol
the doc is sending me for an ultraound on fri cause i have had one period since being on the pill but i have started bleeding again when i am not ment to and my tummy is very tender.

does anyone know much about the implanon contraceptive. i wanted to get it but i read that u can get lots of spotting with it. thats one thing i dont want.
jayda is just into her 000 stuff this week.

Sassy good to hear from you, sorry to hear about your bleeding problems i am having problems too but my tummy is not tender. sorry i don't know much about the implanon.

Jess i put abbie in the sling when she is grumpy and i need to do something and all she does is go to sleep. She obviously just wants to be close or held. Oh well she is my last baby i don't mind spoiling her a little.

Lachlan has been so trying lately, i think that he needs a bit more attention but i feel like i give him the majority of my attention. Is anyone else having this problem?

LMK I hear you on the other kids being TRYING... Jordan can be at times when I guess I havent spent much time with him. Its hard to spread the love and I imagine harder with 3 of them. I am sure you are doing a wonderful job though

Sassy I am not sure about the implanon contraception however when I was talking to doc at 6 week check up about birth control she said she removes more of them than she puts in..... I didnt like the sound of that. I would ask your doc more about it before doing it.

Jess your nght sounds like mine. I fed Liam at 9. we were up at 1.40 and then again at 5.00. He then got up at 7.30 however I didnt feed him till 8, he was content to just watch tele with Jordan. I hope you get some rest in today if you are tired.

Well today I met my GF at the local play centre with her 2 kids. Jordan had a blast playing with them both and Liam was a dream. He slept and then was content to sit and watch everything going on around him. He even went 1 hr over his feed time ( 5 hrs ) as I needed to get milk from the shops so did that on the way home. He is such a good boy. I now have 2 sleeping babies so I am pleased.

Well we have had a bad few days.:( I ended up taking Hamish to the doctor this afternoon and he has a throat infection:(. I knew his crying was not normal and not the 'arsenic' hour as such, his cry is so different to normal and he has his arsenic hour and it is nothing like the last few days. The poor thing it is so heart breaking to see him in pain. Atleast now we know what is wrong and can work at getting him well, i think the not knowing is the worst. Hopefully it will just be a few days and he will be better. I hope everyone else is well. Will be back for personals tomorrow.
I best be off as dd is holding him for me and i am heading for a shower.

Well tonight I solved the arsenic hour prob I put Liam to sleep in the rocker and he has been asleep for 2.5 hrs YEAH think I will do this each night after 5pm as he seems to have settled really well. He is in his room but not in cradle. Whatever works I say......

deancey - we did the same for lily tonight as she hadnt slept much all day, she loves her rocker .... had about 2 hrs there then another feed and she finally went down in her cot. she had 3 hours there then another feed and she slept for 4.5 hours..... yay! but now (as you may see by the time 4am!) she is quite restless. typing one hand with her in the other is fun!!!! LOL

sassy i think thr spotting is similar to the one i am going to use (put inside uterus) in that spotting can occur during first 3 months then all should be ok
i am having a meet up today with some bb members from newcastle... cant wait to meet some other mums :) then lily is having her shots.... hope she goes well

Hi sass- great to hear from you. I've heard the same as Deancey- alot get taken back out again. i am starting the mini next week, was suppose to have started already but with the antibiotics for the mastitis i kept forgetting to take it... (not used to taking pills daily...) I too have had the weird bleeding issues, i stopped at 4 weeks few days later after DTD it started again then stopped then we dtd again and bext day i was again, now at 6 weeks its still coming and going... havent DTD this week so i'm waiting to see if it is mabe what is causing it. Not sure???

LMK- i have a carrier but its hard to put Tiah down once asleep have to undo so many clips, does your sling kill your back??? Tiahna gets into moods where she only wants to be held- i dont mind usually but i'm starting to fall behind in the house work. I find the only way i can clean up is to carry her around, by the time i tidy the house do dishes and hang washing out my back starts to ache but when i vacuum it makes her go to sleep. So hoping the sling helps me put her down once asleep
LMK & Deancey- Its hard with another child and nikki you have 3 OMG... jordan has been distroying his room (too cold for outside play...very windy) i've been trying to get Tiahna used to her room but she only last 15-20 mins asleep in there so usually to let her get some decent sleep i just have her in the loungeroom she seems to like the noises. i know jordan just making up for the lack of attention i'm giving him but i am trying to do things with him even when i have Tiahna... when i feed we read books together, sing songs- so i utilise the sit down time with both of them. I'm sure that both of you are doing your best as i am trying too... its hard to adjust (for them too)
And deancey YAY on solving the arsenic hour with Liam... Tiahna was good last night and we seemed to skip our arsenic hour, she slept through it... fed at 4.30 then 7.30 and she slept through till 10 thought we'd have issues but nope went straight back to sleep.... phew... then woke up at 2.30am then 7.30 so were getting so good sleeps in at night now...

Oh my goodness Juliette keeps changing her night routines on me!!! For a few nights she was up three times, no big deal & I was getting used to it. Last night she went to bed at 8pm & I tried to dreamfeed her at 10.45pm when I went to bed (I had been waiting for her to wake) and she wouldnt have a bar of it. I expected her to be up three times again..... Nup, I had to wake her at 3am with the sorest porn star boobs you can imagine!! They were HUGE & so sore after 7 hours. Then she slept again until 7am, fed & is still asleep now. I just can't pick it! I'm starting to think I need to go to bed earlier if she's not going to take the 10pm feed anymore though.

Hope you got a decent amount of sleep once Lily went to bed Al :hug:

Yay for surviving arsenic hour in tact Deancey!! Sounds like the rocker might be the go for Liam. Juliette is getting far to curious about her surroundings to stay in the rocker anymore, she has to be in her darkened room otherwise she doesn't sleep well with all the stuff going on round her. I discovered our arsenic hour cure though - I put he in the high chair, leaning back, and she watches me cook dinner!

Poor Hamish, Abb :hug: I hpe his throat is getting better. Poor bubba, it's not nice being sick when you're big & it's so much worse when you can't tell someone whats wrong.

LMK, Zander is being very trying at the moment. I've found that he must have some sort of entertainment throughout the day for us to survive! So we've been doing lots of things - walks to the shop for no reason, just a walk & he gets a treat if stays close to me, we planted strawberries yesterday, went bowling, gymnastics class, visits with his friends.... It's tiring for me, but he just needs to have some structured thing to do for an amount of time in the day or he gets really naughty.

Just wondered, are you guys giving bubs much nappy free time? I think Juliette would really like it, but it's just so cold here at the moment that I've only done it really once other than when she's had her baths.


Sorry Jess, was typing whilst you posted. Sorry to hear about the annoying bleeding, hopefully it will settle down soon. Yay for no arsenic hour as well :)

Sarah- Never thought of using the high chair just yet but i may give it a go... I think Tiahna gets sick of laying down all the time in the rocker or bassinette... Also i have been giving Tiahna some nappy free time usually when the house is warm with the heat on... she absolutly loves it... her face lights up... she kicks her legs about makes noises... i only let her have free time for 5-10 mins as her legs do get a bit cold. she also loves the bath also... hates getting out though...
Question... Do you all bath bubs daily??? I have been told that babies dont need to be bathed everyday just need a top and tail??? Would love to hear what you are all doing???

ROFL... i hear you the 2 nights when Tiahna slept from 12-6.30am killed my boobs but the 3rd night when she slept from 10.30-6.30 was horrible... i felt like they could just burst. i also need to learn to sleep when she does but i hate falling asleep then she wakes up an hour after... makes me feel more tired. hope things work out for you.

IKWYM about going to sleep then bub waking up an hour later, makes me more tired too. Juliette hates getting out of the bath as well so for the moment she's bathed only really once a week. If she has a monster spew or poo she gets done the as well, but pretty much just weekly for the moment. I figure it's very cold for her, it's winter so she's not getting sweaty & she's not crawling & getting dirty yet so it's all good.

Baby's got crazy arms! For the last week or so Aadi has been swinging punches and waving his hands in the air like he just don't care... LOL! He must be exhausted, he's so active. I wouldn't worry so much, but he's smacked himself in the face a few times so hard he cries, and he's getting scratches everywhere. It looks a bit scary.
Have had a bit of a difficult time at around 5.30 am for the last three mornings, with Aadi feeding at 4-4.30, resettling no worries, then waking an hour later grunting and kicking like he's constipated. I've tried rubbing his tummy and different holds, but nothing seems to relieve it. I'm not sure a bath is a good idea at that time... Then after an hour or so, he does such an explosive poo (OMG! what a mess!) the nappy would never contain it! I wonder if this is a milk protein intolerance thing, coz I've started eating cheese again (I dont usually eat dairy). I'll try and eliminate it for a few weeks and see how we go. I know it took me years to be able to tolerate dairy products when I was a kid, so maybe it's going to be the same for Aadi.

Sassy - good luck with the ultrasound. Hope there's nothing wrong. Personally, I don't like the sound of the implant, though I only know of one lady who's had one, and she hated it. More to the point, her family hated it. It turned her into a cranky, cranky mess! But whatever works for you!
Abb - poor Hamish! Hope he's feeling better real soon.
Deancey - congratulations! so good to find something that works for you. I hope it becomes a regular thing for you.
Alicia - meet-up sounds like a great idea. Good luck with Lily's shots. Let us know how it goes, and if she has any reaction to them (hope not!).
Jess - the ring slings are fantastic! It shouldn't hurt your back, though. Even though Aadi and I had a big sleep-in this morning, I need to get things done so I've put him in it and he's gone straight back to sleep. It's often the only way I can get him to sleep during the day, and I can take the whole thing off and put him down without waking him if I need to. But I usually put a heat-pack in his bed before I put him down, as he wakes up suddenly when he's away from the familiar warmth. He's purring like a kitten now, and I'm typing with 2 hands! I wouldn't use it for more than a few hours at a time, though, as I reckon it could be a bit of a strain. I get so many comments from people when I'm out with Aadi in the sling, when people actually realise I'm carrying a baby and not just a bag! Most handbags dont purr...

I dont bath Aadi daily, as there's no need, and there just doesn't seem to be the time! I do give him some nappy-free time as often as possible, usually when I give him a massage, but it is SO cold I can't do it for long. Maybe should get some Babylegs? just coz they're so cute...

Sarah - ROFL @ porn star boobs! oh, but it hurts, doesn't it?? and I get like that after 4 hours - oye! Dont know what I'd do if Aadi actually slept longer than that.

Alicia how did lily go with her needles abbie is getting hers tomorrow. i am scared poor thing.

deancy abbie sometime actually nearly all the time sleeps in her rocker she loves it and i don't think that she likes laying flat and its more snuggly. But as soon as school goes back( as i have been busy with lots of kids) i am going to get rid of the bassinette all together and start putting her in her cot during the day so that she gets used to it and this way she is not unsetted at night only during the day. Then once she is used to i wil put her in her cot at night time too.

Sarah idon't bath abbie every day either. Its too cold here and like you said they don't get dirty. She would love some nappy free time as she likes being naked my its far too cold she will have to wait till it warms up.

Jess yeah my sling does hurt my back after a while. I don't have to do it very often as i try and do everything while she is asleep its only if i have been slack and spent her sleep time on BB that i have to do it in the afternoon.

My boys are not too bad i think that they are getting bored at home and i need to venture out a bit more. Today i went to my girlfriends house for a play date and the boys were great!!! And since we have been home lachlan especially has been so good. Its only one day but i think that if i try and get out of the house more often then their behaviour might improve.

Abbie has to be the best baby, i dont' want ot jinx myself or anything but she is now sleeping through the night nearly every night. She will go to sleep about 9pm and sleep till 4am. Since she is a great sleeper she will probably be a horrible teether or toddler or something. lol...

So glad im not the only one not bathing daily... I bath Tiahna if she's been heaps spewy or try to every 3-4 days or so... just because she's had the bad rash all over her face.

I usually give tiahna nappy free time when the heat is on only cos she enjoy it so much...

NaNa- yeah tiahna has crazy arms aswell also a crazy head... her head is so strong and she always turns it from one side to the other looking around. Also looking forward to getting my sling... cant wait... glad to hear from someone who has one...

i went out looking for a dishwasher today.. Tiahna was GREAT jordan on the other hand not so good... i guess he just doesnt like shopping...

Sarah- we dont bath Hamish daily either, usually every 3rd or 4th day it is way to cold here to do it more often.
sassy - i have had the implanon and believe me it isnt worth it, i lasted about 10 weeks, i was bleeding the hole time and was very moody. I have heard the merina has more success.
lmk - hamish is the same he hates laying flat, i have his bassinet elevated but he enjoys the rocker best of all. I had tried him in the cot and he wouldn't settle but he isnt well so will try again when he is well.
Jess - glad to hear tiahna has settled down and you are getting some sleep.
deancey - it seems everyone's bub is over the arsenic hour, i hope it lasts for you and you get some well earned rest.

We had a not so good night last night, hamish didnt settle until 1.30am then woke at 3, 5,7,8.30, so i had not alot of sleep but i figure if he wants a feed i will feed him as he obviously needs it after a few days of trying to force it into him with no success. So i guess he is on the mend fingers crossed. Havent had to give him panadolat all today he seemed to be ok without it. He has fed and slept as normal but i am prepared for another sleepless night. He hasn't poo'd for a few days which is not like him, he normally goes 2 or 3 times a day, i can imagine what it will be like when he finally goes. It doesnt seem to be bothering him although his farts are leathal lately. lol
Best be off to try and get some sleep, dp has just given him his bottle so i should already be in dream land. Hope everyone gets a good sleep.

well I had a stuff up yesterday.... I thought it was clinic day so Lily could get her shots. We took panadol 1/2hour before, but when we got there, the clinic was in a different location and I was already too tired to go over to the other one..... so no shots, we will have them next wednesday!
We did have a meet up and it was great to meet another mum in my area. we both hope to make it a regular thing now.
well Lily had a really good sleep last night from 8pm to 1am.... unfortunately for me, I didn't sleep for much of that. And after that she was up every 3 hours exactly, which meant that I was only getting an hour and a half or two hours sleep :( Oh well.... I planned to go back to bed this morning while DH took care of Lily who didn't seem to want to go back to sleep (again!) but then he was called into work.... so I am now trying to rock her back to sleep so I can get some more too
Hope everyone else had an ok night.... on bathing, Lily has a bath every second day... she loves the bath and we try to do it during the day when the sun is coming through the window so when she gets out she can dry in the sun and get some nappy free time :)
Lily also has crazy arms when she is up... all over the place and it is unbelievable how strong she is now getting. She holds her head up for a little while and then trys to head butt!! Its so funny.. she got DH a good one the other day :) The other day in the bath she got a hold of my sleeve and wouldn't let go, I got quite wet !!!

Well today we had our 6 week check up. Tiahna has grown so much... She is now 56 cm long head 37.8 weight now 4.6kg Last check up she was 53long, 35hc and 4.2kg so a great growth and weight gain. and huge from her birth 3.25kg, hc33 and height 51.5

My GP's away for a few weeks so needles arent for another 3 weeks. scared already...

Had an ok day= (although the cold morning getting her to the GP was a nightmare) Tiahna has slept well, sounds like most of our bubs really like their rockers, i decided to put her in the rocker to sleep and then into the cot so she gets used to the sound and surroundings of her room, the first time she woke up in 15 mins but has now been sleeping in their for 2 hours... hoping that within the next few weeks she'll feel comfortable in their and wont need the rocker anymore... its quite cold (during the night) and noisy in her room (we live on a busy street and our rooms are in front) the sun come in during the day so it warms up nicely but soon cools down as soon as the sun goes.

She's becoming quite smart at working out when i'm not around her and she opens her eye to check... lol DP isnt comfortable being left alone with her- he's not good with this stage... loves the stage when they start playing more... i think he feels like he cant do anything to help them... it drives me insane especially when he doesnt even want to try... any tips on getting him to do more with her... she relys on me too much and wont settle with anyone else becasue she's always with me... i cant even take a shower alone... he come in with her crying and says she wont stop and i need to get out- "She must be hungry" its insane that he cant watch her for more then 5 mins...

Hi just a quick one abbie had her needles today. Poor little thing she screamed but was ok as soon as i picked her up. she now weighs 5.1 kg which is great. She has been really grumpy today and not very well at all. :( And i stopped bleeding 3 days ago so the doc said i should be right now, i tld him that if i start bleeding again i will be back. and he just laughed. I felt like saying i am not joking!

Well I got some awesome sleep last night. I fed Liam at 6.30 and went to bed at 9.30. He didnt wake till 12.30 and then 4.30. Jordan slept in till 8am and Liam woke at 8.30. I couldnt have asked for a better night sleep
Today I am off to see Mamma Mia the movie with a girlfriend I need some time out from the house/kids etc.

LMK Abbie sounds as though she is doing really well and glad to see the needles didnt phase her too much
