    Hi gals,

Its ususlly a lot quieter in here on weekends its been like that since the belly buddies started. I think alot of us spend time with our DP/H's.. My DP is working this weekend hence the posts... Also yesterday was like summer here and it was a gorgeous day and today its raining.

After now 3 days on the brauers colic relief and stomach calm DD is so much better. i honestly cant believe the change... i was a bit sceptical at 1st (thinking that the Dr knew best) i have both DD and DS on the cold and cough stuff and there much better in that department also. Me on the other hand is still loaded up with a cold.

Bec- i do want more kids but so not right now... my baby girl is such a joy at the moment and its a struggle getting used to 2 and i couldnt imagine having to do it while pregnant. my DS was 3 yrs and 6 1/2 months old when DD was born. I dont want that much gap but would be nice to have 12 months gap (before falling pregnant). Also the unsettled periods i was also wondering about... maybe its the damn weather. cant make its mind up here. yesterday DD was in a summer dress and today back to pants long shirt and jumper.

M_T- sorry to hear about DS's hips... must be worse not knowing whats next. Also with Ex P. i would wsit till the specialist appoint and when u mention it i'd say heres the number gicv him a call and find out the info from him urself...

hope everyone else is well best be off, its tummy time for dd and the only way she'll do it for more then 5 sec is if i'm down there too... She can push up on her hands a bit now and her head is so high up... she's also moving back a bit she goes forwards but its not like rocking back and forwards just yet more like a lunge back or front.

well we gave Liam lots of nappy free time today as he got real red and sore in his folds over the last day or so. He loved it and was kicking all over the place and moving all over the activity mat. He can roll onto his side but doesnt go any further. I dont think it will be too long though. He has been a bit chucky this morning, bringing up bits of milk here and there.
I am so tired today, just had a quick cat nap which was good. I have worked 5 days this week and am really feeling it. I am looking forward to my 2 days off wed and thursday. I was offered overtime again but think I will give it a miss this week.

Jess its nice that you play with Tiahna so she enjoys her tummy time I think half the problem with it sometimes is the loneliness of being on the floor alone. I think its a good idea to have atleast 12 months before getting preg again so you can enjoy Tiahna and 18 or so months is a good age gap.

Mis_tree I am not sure what you mean by the percentages with Seths hip but I do hope that they improve for you both. The harness has got to be annoying for you both.

Bec7 sorry I missed your bday but glad you had a nice day.

Girl22 I think Liam is teething but it can be a SLOW process. The dribbling lasted foever with my 1st son Jordan. He was always dribbling and it took forever for the teeth to come thru so you may be starting teething process but might not see any results for a while yet.

Sarah and LMK Hope you and the family are doing well.

might try shut my eyes again before Liam wakes for his next feed.

mistree: sorry to hear about your son. do the braces annoy him or isnt he aware of them yet?

i was told that it is more normal for bubbas to roll from belly to back first not back to belly. jayda is driving me crazy goes from back to belly like every min but cant get back and sooks.
wat ways r everyone elses bubs moving.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO VOICE MY ANGER ABOUT HOW MUCH I HATE CLEANING BOTTLES lol

oh it is so funny jayda has started licking anything she can now. she rolls over on her mat and licks it. anytime anyone holds her she will work her way to their arm and have a good like lol. anytime we try to kiss her on the check she turns quickly and licks us then does the biggest laugh it is so cute.

I only have 3 more christmas presents to get and i am done yay.

i better go DH tried to put jayda to bed early just so he coudl play his guitar, but she has other ideas lol

    MORNING

Sass - hamish doesnt roll yet, he moves himself around on the floor by kicking his legs and using the floor with his feet to lift his bottom from the floor and moves up and down its quite amusing to watch. He also licks anything but would prefer something in his mouth at all times.

Deancey - you must be exhausted it is hard working so much with bubs. I am thinking of doing more work but i dont want to put hamish in day care so i will wait a little bit longer i think, atm working 2 to 3 nights is good as Dp is home to look after him and when i do the odd day i have asked family but wouldnt like to leave him all week. I hope you got some more rest.

Jess - glad to hear tiahna is better now, i hope you feel better soon too, it seems when we get sick it takes us longer to budge. It seems there are more people sick this year than normal, i know at my dd school there has been alot of kids and teachers away sick and all for a variety of illness's. I think we need more sunshine to get away all the germs maybe.

Mis_tree- thats no good with ds hips, does this mean he has to have brace back on again?

Bec - Happy belated birthday, good to hear you had a good day. Hamish also sometimes cries for know reason, not sure what it is either, i think he has very sore gums at the moment so that may be it. My mchn said he is getting 4 teeth at once, his bottom right one had cut through yesterday.

Girl 22 - teething is very possible at this time, although sometimes it takes months for a tooth to come down but they can have symptoms for a long time prior etc dribbling, red cheeks, temp, lumpy gums, nappy rash, they can also come up and down. Every child is different, with my dd i didnt even know she was teething, they would just appear with no trouble.

Hamish is still sleeping and feeding fantastic, i am waiting for something to upset it, for 2 weeks he has been great. I am really enjoying him at the moment, and probably spoiling him rotten but i dont care. We had a great weekend, spent Saturday at my sisters they have a dairy farm just out of town, he loved it out there. Im sure whe he is a bit older he will enjoy it more with my four nephews they spoil him. Saturday night i had a couple of glasses of wine, i had previously avoided alcohol but with it being warm i thought why not, does anyone else have a social drink when feeding? I have read a little bit about it and understand if only have one or two it shouldnt affect my milk, but i thought 2 was enough. We are having a night out in a few weeks and my mum is looking after ds so i will need to try express a few bottles for then.I thought if i fed him at 5 then he has ebm before bed, 1 in the morning and one lunch time, i would be able to feed him his 2pm feed? Does anyone know how long alcohol stays in your system, im not sure how many bottles i will need.
    .
Hi to everyone else i have missed.
Na Na - look forward to your long post this week, hope the moving went well

i am thinking of starting jayda on solids slowly from 5 months.
she just seems alot hungry latly and very interested in our food when we r eating. also i read once they start licking everything and making chewing movements as u r eating then they r starting to get ready.

OMG i am so sick of bleeding. i spot all month then get my period. poor dp hasnt got for so long lol.

abb: with the alcohol i know there r then little strip things u can test ur milk with. i dont knwo if u can get them fromt he chemist but i know u can get them online. i cant remember at they r called ill try googling them for u. i guess doing it that way u would be sure that it is safe the bf again.
    they r called milkscreen tests

    Hi,

Just a quick note as I can here Cameron starting to stir. I've been having a social drink most days from a week after I had Cameron. I usually wait til I've got at least an 1 1/2 to 2 hours til next feed. My mum's paediatrician told her to have a drink in the arvo when hubby gets home, helps relax the mummy and also you the spend time with your partner (but this was 28 years ago). I only have a max of 2 drinks (usually only cask wine or west coast coolers - so they're not that strong anyway). I don't think they've ever effected Cameron.

Better go, Cam is awake now. Will try to get back later.

    Bye for now

WOW arent we all talkative today... HAHA

Deancey- hope u get some rest in... must be tough working 5 days... sdont know how u do it. I also think 18 months is a good gap. just have to encourage DP i think he's expecting another 3 + year gap... LOl

Sass- DD rolled from back to belly 1st and the other day she went from belly to back (hasnt done it since.) She's now going up on to her knees on her tummy and kinda pushes her face along the ground (cant yet get up on her hands... it looks hilarious) DD has been licking things for wweeks now, loves my shoulder or just licks my nipple instead of suck... (thats kinds weird) My Pead said i could start small amounts of solids (and that was at 3 months) i did with DS cos of the reflux at 3 months and gave DD a spoon of some farex with EBM yesterday. She had no issues with swolling it actually she quiite enjoyed it. Its not to say that its for everyone, i'm just doing it as the pead thinks it may help with the acid burn. i wont be doing it daily just every now and then. i'm not big on introducing solids early but i have been told to from a pead and GP. i'm not using the tin stuff yet and its only a very liquid mix of farex and in total it was a teaspoon that i gave her. i think you should speak to a GP or pead about whats right for your bubs. They changed the recommendations to 6 months so there would have to be good reason for the change.

Abb- I watched a study on drinking while BF and new studies showed it wasnt good for babies i also read this on the ABA website
Studies have shown that within thirty minutes of its ingestion, the equivalent of one standard drink changes the smell of breastmilk and has a mildly sedative effect on the baby. Excessive amounts may lead to drowsiness, deep sleep and weakness. A drowsy baby may not suck well which may lead to a reduction in supply. One recent report suggests a 23% reduction (156 ml to 120 ml) in breastmilk production following ingestion of beer (Hale 1998). The altered smell of the milk may account for any fussiness. Any drug that causes drowsiness in the infant may be implicated in SIDS.
. I have always chosen not to drink while BF but i think its like alot of parenting issues its a personal choice. i drink coffe every now and then and caffine can have affects on bubs also. it also said
It is then wise to minimise alcohol exposure to the breastfeeding infant, especially in the first three months. Some recommendations for limiting alcohol exposure include choosing low alcohol drinks, eating before and while drinking, avoiding breastfeeding for two to three hours after drinking
mis_tree-hope the plaster worked out well, also sorry to hear seth has been grumpy. i havent even thought about christmas shopping yet... i know i should get a start especially when DS's b'day is in November

Hope everyone else is ok, Sarah hope juliette is going well, havent seen u in here 4 a while

Sass - thanks i googled the milkscreen tests. Cant get them around here but can order them online.

Jess - i only had 2 drinks, i fed ds at 6 then he had ebm for last feed, so i didnt feed him again until 7am. I had 2 drinks after dinners so it would have been atleast 10 hours before i fed him. I know lots of people that have a glass with dinner every evening whilst feeding but i wouldnt have more than 2. But i am planning on having a few more when we have our night out in October but i will make sure i get the milkscreen tests before then.

Abb- hope i didnt upset you... (or anyone else who choose to drink while bfing) Sorry everyone... I'm just one of those people who freak out a bit when it comes to that stuff. I know people who ssmoke, drink alcohol and large quantaties or coffee while BF... There bubs are fine but its just a choice i made not too... It was only recently that i started having the odd glass of coke or a coffee... the whole pregnancy aswell i avoided these things also...

I guess its like a lot of things there are so many "do's and dont's" my DD is fussy enough so when i read
The altered smell of the milk may account for any fussiness.
i kinda thought well steer clear... HAHAHA dont want to add any extra fussiness.

I hate the way things come accross on BB... makes things sound like your attacking people... Sorry again...

DD had an ok night still waking for 1 feed but i'm kool with that we had a great run and maybe 1 day she may drop the night feed again... I was on the BF support thread and was asking bout number of feeds. apparently bubs 0-6 months normal amount of feeds are 11... Yup 11 feeds in 24 hours... so DD 9-11 is quite normal... made me feel so much better at least i can relax about her not getting enough per feed.

Hope everyone else had a good night... Its so damn windy here its blowing a gale... no chance of hanging the washing out today...

[QUOTE=Je$$_84;1425953]Abb- hope i didnt upset you... (or anyone else who choose to drink while bfing) Sorry everyone...
Jess you didnt upset me, i also chose not too drink and i have just started drinking coffee ( 1 a day) again, it was just a one off thing really but i am going to have a night out soon thats why i asked about it as i want to make sure my milk will still be ok next day.

Gee 11 feeds seems alot, we are doing 6 atm, i was concerned that was not enough but my mchn said he is putting on weight and sleeping fine so it is ok, if he was hungry he would let me know.
Hamish was very unsettled yesterday, he hardly slept all day and was very whingey, at his mouth all the time. He woke at 5 for a feed and has just woken up now. Didnt have a very good night sleep, Dp is getting sick and had the tremmers (fever) bad last night, i went in the spare room to sleep round 1am. It would be just our luck we would all get sick when we are going away for four days on friday. Ds has his needles next week, not looking forward to them again, this time dp will come.

    Hi All,

Geez, it probably sounds like I'm a bit of an alcoholic now, but I'm not (I promise). Guess I've been lucky that Cameron's has slept through from about week 9 and my drink is usually after my last feed for the night, and don't feed again for usually 10hrs after (only occassional times where it has been 2 hrs after). But then I never drink coffee (had my first coffee on Saturday, which will probably be my last whilst bfing), as it usually makes me jiggitery (even after 1).

Jess - no offence taken, i know everyone has there own personal views on things. Wow 11 feeds over 24hrs is an average. Are you pretty much feeding every 1-2 hrs in the day? Does DD always go on like she is starving or is it more a comfort thing? As you know I don't enjoy the bfeeding too much, so I would probably go crazy if I had to do that.

Abb - Hope DH feels better soon. Isn't it always the way - that you get sick before you go on holidays. Cameron will also get needles again in the next week - I to will get DH to come, I got very teary at the last needle - so I will need DH to comfort Cameron while I wipe my eyes.

MisTree - how did the plaster cast of DS's feet go. Something I've been meaning to do, will try to arrange in the next few weeks. Think I'll take him somewhere to do it, as I also want hands too, and I know that will be a big challange. What did your Dr have to say about his hips? How's the farex going? Was he ok later that day (few people I know had some chucking in the arvo after trying the farex - as it being something new in the tummy - the were alright after a few days on it though)

Sassy - Cameron also watches intently as we eat. I can just see his mind learning. Occassionally I've put the spoon (with nothing on it) to his mouth, and he seems to do the right mouth movement for it. Think I will try solids in the next few weeks (which would also be about 5 months).

Think Cameron almost said his first word the other day, well we think it was an attempt - we were eating, and Cameron was sitting there watching and talking and all of a sudden it sounded almost like he said 'Cameron', DH and I looked at each and asked each other if it sounded like Cameron. Of course it was very muffled and probably nowhere near his first word, but it was funny - he seemed so proud of himself after he had said it too, giving a big giggle straight after. It would stop all arguments if his first word was not Mum or Dad wouldn't it. He does seem to know his name though. Quite often we will call his name and he'll turn to it and look you straight in the eyes, yet if we say other names he doesn't.

Well, better go do a little bit more housework before Cameron wakes.

    Bye for now

Yeah i thought 11 feeds was alot... She usually feeds at 7, 9, 11, 2, 4, 6, 7.30-8.30 and 1-2 feeds at night (usually 1 at 3-4am but occasionally 1 at 2 then 4) So its usually about 8-9 feeds. Her worst is every 2 hours from 6.30am with no more then 10-15 min naps with the 2 feeds at night.

DD is only having 1 side per feed, she pulls off a few times and i offer it a few more times then thats it... She's burping well now with the beauers and i know if i push her for more she ends up spewing it all back up... It doesnt bother me all the feeds just somedays its like come on give me a break... i'm enjoying our bonding while feeding so i just keep focusing on bonding and making it our special time together.

Abb- it sucks when everyone gets sick...
Hamish was very unsettled yesterday, he hardly slept all day and was very whingey, at his mouth all the time.
have u tried the brauers teething relief??? Hope everyone gets better before you go away... jealous... we wont be taking a holiday for quite sometime...

Bec-yeah i thought 11 was way too much but barb told me it was norm... I'm glad its only 10 (other post should have said 9-10) on her bad days... Since we started the brauers she's been great both yesterday and today she has slept for 3 hours during the day... so 2 days now we've had a 4am wake up then 7am, 9, 11, 2.30 (she's stiring now) yesterday arvo was 4.30 6.30 7.30 then 8.30 she has 3 feeds close together as its most distracting time of night and i seem to have low supply at night... but she sleeps from last feed till 4 so maybe just stocking up. i thought yesterday was a bluff when i posted about all the feeds as it had been like like that for last few weeks... I'm hoping now things have settled but everytime i say that we end up back to 9-10 feeds...

Well best be off little miss is up... at least i've had a chance to clean up today... i really hope we can keep the 3 hour sleep (i'd be happy with 2 even)

    Hope everyone else is well

    Hey everyone!
I'm back... it seems like FOREVER! Finally got internet happening, but it's going to take me ages to go back and read all the posts I've missed. We're getting settled in the house slowly, mainly because we're all sick. Aadi came down with a cold on top of all the teething stuff. I got the cold too. It's awful, coughing so much I feel like I've got broken ribs. Now DP has it, and my mum came down with it too, but not until after she got back home to Qld. Thankfully she was ok while she was here, or we'd still be living in the old place!
I'll be back later to catch up, but in the meantime, hope everyone's doing ok. I'm off to the movies!! It's going to be interesting - anyone been to one of the Babes In Arms sessions before?
The 7-chapter post will be along shortly!

Oh we missed you NaNa i will await your 7 chapter post. lol. Glad the move went well. I have been meaning to go to one of the movie sessions with bub but havent yet, let me know how you went.
I hope you are all feeling better soon, the cold is everywhere, Dp has it atm but i have kept hamish away from him and i am sleeping in spare room as last thing i want is a cold. Im sure we will probably still catch it but hopefully not this weekend, i am so looking forward to a few days away.
I dont really have alot to say this morning, just the normal night here nothing unusual. Sun is shining here today so will be off for a walk this morning, need to try shed a few kilos before summer.

11 feeds is heaps jess. jayda has no where near that many she has hers at 3am 8am 11am 2pm 5pm 8pm. thats only 6 feeds. my midwife at baby clinic said it was enough as long as she is still puttin on weight and wetting her nappies. it still doesnt look enough to me but. she has atleast 125mls each time but most of the time it is a fight to get that in and sometimes she will have her whole 150ml bottle.

YAY NaNa- glad things went well with the move... bugger bout being sick... it sucks...I'm still loaded up with the cold but DD and DS are almost over it thanks to Brauers... We'll be awaiting that 7 chapter post... i'm sure you wont leave anything out...

Sass- Bottle feeding is diff to breastfeeding i have been told... i think bottle fed bubs do drink less frequently but the milk consistency is different.

Well yesterday arvo went like i planned with the feeds except DD was up at 1 and again at 3 and then awake for the morning at 5... found out it was cos she needed a poop... i thought if i gave her a bit of farex at dinner time with us that she's sleep better but it made her need to poop during the night (but she goes 7-10 days sometimes without a poop...) she's been good today. had 2 20 min naps so i think we'll just stick to these smaller naps until i can get the big 1 in earlier... i'd like her big sleep at about 10am and awake no later then 2pm that was she'll have a small nap in the late arvo and still be tired for bed time. i have to start making her self settle again since she's been sick she's been falling aleep again on the booby.

well best be off, need to do some more house work before i wake her up soon.

    Hi All,

NaNa - Welcome back. Sorry to hear you's are all sick - it's bad enough moving, but to be sick at the same time would make it a bit of a nightmare I'd imagine. How did the movies go? It's something I've been wanting to do, was there many crying babies? My mum usually comes to visit on Wednesday's, so might try it on 1 of those days with her.

Abb - how you feeling? have you kept those germs away. A bit of sunshine with your walk will probably help fight any that are trying to get you. Hope you have a nice weekend away.

MisTree - how's the dr's go? Hope you got the answers you wanted. And did you manage to capture your ds's feet moulds?

Sassy - I think as long as bubs are puttting on weight and are happy then they would be getting enough milk. How much is a baby that age meant to be drinking anyway?

Jess - wow, 7-10 days without a poop, that seems a long time, especially with all those feeds she has. Have you mentioned it to your clinic nurse? Our nurse had told us it was normal to go 2-3 days without poop -that was at the beginning, not sure what it should be now, as Cameron goes daily. Was that the first time you'd tried farex? I'm looking forward to giving Cameron farex and solids, will try it in a few weeks, when closer to 5 months I think, but might buy some next shopping day, just in case I get the urge to try it. I have been advised though its usually best to try it in the morning, therefore if they get an upset tummy (as apparently alot tend to do), then you've got the day to try settle it.

Cameron is booked in for his 1st swimming lesson on Saturday. Looking forward to it, as he loves the bath. I have been pouring water down his face in the bath to get him used to it (as apparently they do that at the lessons), and now he smiles and giggles when I do it. So hopefully he will enjoy it, as there will be a fair bit of swimming in summer for him, as we have our own pool. Need to go shopping later to get him a little swimming outfit.

My DH bought him a jolly jumper the other day. I was a little hesitant to put him in one, as I had heard they are not good for there feet and spine. But he loves it, and we've only been putting him in it for a maximum of 20-30mins per day (that being about 10 mins in the morning, then about 15mins when DH gets home). We sit there playing and talking to him, while he tries to bounce and spin around. He looks so grown up in it.

Well, better go do a little house work before he wakes.

    Bye for now

I'm quite surprises Nana hasnt been back on with her 7 chapter post... HAHAHA
Hope the unpacking is going well....

Bec- i have been told that its perfectly normal as she'not constipated... Its still quite runny and PLENTY of wet nappies so all's good i have been told same from the CHN, Pead and my GP. Its not every time some times she can go 2-3 days but she has been know not to poop in 7-10 days... has been like this even from the begining. I started the farex at night cos i though it'd fill her up. last night was better only 1 wake up so i dont think its the farex... I mix it with EBM so it is just a bit thicker and she LOVES it... Swollows well no problems... My GP said thats how to tell if there ready if they can swollow properly from the spoon. she smacks her lips and opens her mouth now when the spoon is comming for her mouth... i only give her2 teaspoons which is like 5-6 spoons for her. She's really enjoying it and the reflux is much better. i wont up it to 2 feeds any time soon and its not an every night thing just when i see her really watching us at dinner.

Yay on the swimming lessons... (i'm to fat for that yet) Also was looking at the jumpers and walkers as DD is sick of laying down and i need to find other things for her to do... I've used the highchair and rocker to death so she's wanting something more. only thing is we have heaps of carpet so not sire if she can move round on it. I have seen rocker/walkers they convert so might get either ine like that or the JJ. will wait and see.

Well best be off, DS is bored and wants me to play... My car is back at the yard getting warranty work done so no shopping today.
