Babies Born May 16th-31st 2008 #5

Hello ladies,

Lol@Love-my-kids. If I were you I would have probably punched her in the face ;). It seems like she cannot control her 3 year old. Or just can't be bothered. Your best option at the moment is to ignore her, she is family after all. By the way, I was kidding about punching a In-Law in the face :lol:, although it would does sound tempting.

Exam over! 2 weeks to relax with my beautiful, sweet daughter. And another full semester ahead, the last! :dance: I can't wait. DD's top tooth (one of them) is visible and the other is should be there very soon, its coming out. No crawling. Still does the 'once in a blue moon' roll. She doesn't enjoy tummy time much, only in the mornings. She loves sitting. She does everything in a sitting position. She does get into a crawling position, what looks like mini-push-ups, cute.

DD sleeping is wonderful. She sleeps throughout the night from 7:30pm or 8pm til 6:30am. I am blessed. She makes some noises during the night but doesn't want to be feed. I allowed her to stay up a little late tonight because of the heat. She couldn't sleep and I didn't want to force her. She eats her food. I am so proud. She has dinner with us. But I don't give her fruits if it hasn't been pureed. I do give her apples (sliced) to hold and bite on whenever she pleases. I can't give her fruits because she chokes and ends up vomitting. I haven't made an appointment for the 8 month meeting yet. But I will sometime this week, definitely not tomorrow, the weather is expected to be 39 degrees.

My throat is hurting. Whenever I take DD to childcare she comes back home with a runny nose, blocked nose, etc. By Sunday night she is back. By Wednesday, sick again! She has attended childcare for 10-12 days. But she will be home with me until I go back to uni. This will be the first semester I attended classes since giving birth to her. I am so looking forward to reading. I went to the library today and borrowed two books by Audrey Howard, my favourite author. Anyways, I don't know what else to write besides from the tragic about the bushfires. It is sad how someone or some people have lit these fires.

well since i have been doign bottle to sleep jayda isnt so scared of the cot lol. i really dont want to get her into the habbit of having the bottle into the cot but it is soooooooooooo much easier. i am tryin to get her to take a dummy but she hates them.

i am so sick of this heat. been about 38 here this last week. this morning it is already 28 but the humidity is soooooooooooooo bad i am sweating my bum off.

i got ablsolutly smashed at aquarobics last night it was good but. i really wanna loose atleast 20kgs b4 i get preg again.

Morning ladies.

Where do i start. Things here are not going Soo good but compared to others i shouldnt complain. DD and i are both sick. a cold by the looks of it. sore throat, runny nose dry cough, its aweful. The fever just wont ease up i'm hot and cold and i feel sorry for DD as she is going through the same. I couldnt find her formula anywhere so had to buy a different HA formula. NAN.... **** 7 scoops of powder to 210 mls of water.... compared to her KARICARE 4 scoops. There scooper is so tiny. I was thinking of changing as her poops have been not right. Thery seem to be a bit hard and black almost (sorry TMI) . sometimes if they arer soft they are still this dark black almost colour... i dont think thats right even with solids. Her 2nd bottle of NAN and she had dioreah (spl) then 3rd bottle she threw up a bit and this morning's poop is a very light green colour. never before have i seen a poo this colour. I'm just not sure what to do. i can only find 2 brands who make a HA formula and if one makes her poop black and one makes her have dioreah what do i do. :dunno: I'll speak with the GP today and see what he thinks.

Girl- YAY you must feel so relieved to have 1 exam over with.... Glad the sleeping is going well. Also the joys of childcare.... DS is still the same he gets sick almost weekly.... he goes 1 day (friday) and by sunday he's either throwing up, dioreah (spl) fevers, colds rashes, u name it he's got it from preschool.... its inevitable when kids are all together playing. slobbering on toys, wiping there noses with their hands etc all the fun things kids do.

LMK- omming from a mum who's son runs amok dispite my efforts to control him i empathise with both sides... My DS got lost at the shops 6 times last week. he hides in clothes racks or just runs out to the front of the store and plays on the bloody toys/ride things. He has never punched anyone YET except me oh and yes DD. (he put on 2 stubby holders and pretended they were bozing gloves and punched her in the face... not nice) I think best to ignore her comments. Me i would be very appologetic, its so embarrasing having an out of control child and somthing i wouldnt want to wish on anyone. Its hard work and very full on but to me it sounds like your SIL just has 'perfect child syndrome'. (Her child can never be in the wrong. ) if DS is nasty or cheeky to people i tell him to appologise, sometimes he refuses which makes me more cranky. i always appologise for him (i know he needs to learn to say it himself). I hope cody is ok, its also hard to explain to him why his cousin didnt get into trouble too.... HUGS

Sass- WOW at already planing next bubs.... i would love to be doing the same but DP isnt ready.... think he's going through a late 20's crisis or something... hehe.... he just brought a boat and wants to get out on thw water... Think he's trying to relive his YOUTH.... hehe.... Its good your feeling so much better now.

NaNa- Sorry to hear Aadi is biting... Ouchy..... sounds like your having a rough time... WOW at Aadi knowing what the potty is for.... i find if i use cloth DD is quick to tell me she needs a change. Were having similar day sleep issues... we used to have 2 sleeps 1 at about 9 ish and awake in an hour then another at 12ish til about 2-3. lately it has been 1 sleep at about 11.30-12 but only til about 1-2 and she's tired and cranky by 4 and wanting to be in bed i stretch her out til about 5.30-6 but she ssleeps for an hour and wakes up and expects to play til 9-10pm if not later.

Bec- the heat was aweful but now its been raining and its cold.... i think thats why everyone is getting or is sick. DD has started saying UP now also.... we went from few words to nothing for ages and now lots of works and sounds again.... I wish DD would blow her nose... she sees me with a tissue and covers her face and smears it everywhere... she hates having her nose wiped. poor thing.

Well best be off, time to pump some music and clean up (dance round too to warm me up) Take care everyone....

My brain is a little muffled...so won't do personals as I can't remember a thing I just read, except that a couple of you's are getting sick. Hope you feel better soon. Cameron has learnt to share himself....both DH and I have caught his cold. I must teach him that he does not need to share EVERYTHING :rolleyes:.

At least we got some reasonably good sleeps last few nights though. The night before Cameron only woke at 1then 2 - ended up giving him some panadol and a feed. He had some good sleeps yesterday, which I caught with sleep then too. He was so good, never grumbled at all and seemed to look at me in a way like he understood that I was sick like him too. Then last night I put Cameron down at 7.30pm, though it took til 8 for him to go to sleep. I got to bed at 8.30, but was achy and stuffed up. Eventually started to doze off and Cam started to cry, but self settled. But now I was wide awake. 1hr later he woke again (I think it was about 10), this time needed some cuddles. But that was the last I heard from him, we both slept til 7am...woohoo! I feel alot better today, still all stuffy though and now the coughing has begun though. Any ideas what I could take to help the coughing. Alot of the cough medicines aren't recommended while BF.

I've just remembered something I'd been meaning to ask...Has everyone's bubs eyes changed colour? If so what colour did they go? Cam's are still blue. It is unlikely Cam's will stay blue, as DH and I both have hazel and most of my family are the same or brown (DH is fostered, so not sure of his family, except for a brother he meet, but he too had dark eyes). Though he would look nice with the dark hair and blue eyes, but I have a feeling they will be like DH's - more of a green hazel.

Well, since I'm feeling a little better in the body (not the head though)...I had better go do some house work.

Goodness I feel awful. Yasmeenia and I just came back from our local GP. I was prescribed with nothing. I haven't been since for a whole year and now look! Also, it is the first time for poor DD to be sick. You are right, Jess, she is always has a runny nose after taking her to childcare. I guess you know all about that because of your son. Your little one sounds really bad. Hope she gets well along with the other bubs. I don't know how I am going to prepare dinner while sick.

bec: jaydas eyes r a kinda dark blue/grey clour now. they were bight blue at the start.

girl: i weigh 90kg now. my bmi is nearly 32 :redface:

Sass- dont be embarrassed i'm heavier then you.... :redface: :hide: everytime i start doing something about my weight i get sick or something happens and throws everything out of wack. just kepping the thought in my head as a regular reminder. like Do i need this chocolate etc.... I need to get back to walking though... easier said then done...

Tiahna has had brown eyes from day 1 and they have satyed that way. Bec- They could stay blue... DS has blue eyes and i have brown and DP's are hazely green. When DS is sick or the wether is bad his are greeny hazel but on clear days and when he's healthy they are blue as..... My MIL has blue eyes as does my sister (mum and dads are brown: :dunno: ) .

Girl- only 1 good thing comes from bubs being sick as it builds their immune system. (wish DS's construction team would pull their fingers out and get on with it... hehe... )

Coughing while BF... Hmmmmm... i could use my ventolin puffer. but if its what i have dry cough... not sure. maybe a hot cuppa with some lemon or honey??? cant be of much help sorry.... i'm not BF anymore which is the only 1 good thing about being sick i can take most things now... hope you find something... I know how your feeling... Its aweful. i feel like i have been hit with a bat. my ears keep popping and when i blow my nose i get dizzy and have to sit before i pass out... weird... (doesnt halp that i havent eaten much

hey, I'm back! Couldn't get online every time I tried for the last two days now. So frustrating.
I saw the footage on the news of Kinglake this morning, and my aunty's house is gone. Well, she's my step-mum's sister, so sort of my aunty. However I haven't spoken to my step-mum since DS was 3 days old (she went nuts and screamed at me. WTF?). Anyway, I don't know for sure but I guess my aunty and her husband are ok.
We had a better night last night and daytime naps today have been great. Every day is so different though. DS has pooped on the potty three times today, so I'm happy I don't have to wash those dirty nappies! I just have to get him to wait when he's finished so I can lift him off, rather than throwing himself forwards and nearly tipping the whole mess on the floor! Baby bulldozer...

Gosh, everyone's getting sick. That's dreadful. Summer colds are awful. And yeah, childcare centres and play centres are great places to pick up a bug... and public pools. One of the reasons I'm staying away from the water! (And I only swim to frighten people!) I always get an ear infection or the flu if I go swimming, and after last weekend, there were thousands of people at our local YMCA... eww I hate to think what's in the water! I hope you're all feeling better soon, and your DH/DPs are being good and taking care of you!

Jess - take care of yourself! Go eat something. Please! I know everything tastes like bleuh when you're sick, but you need your strength. The formula stuff sounds really confusing and stressful to me... I hope you figure out something (I'm no help!) coz green poo is yuk. Mind you, it happens from time to time with teething and if bubs is sick. Also, the sugars in the milk can cause that with BM, so maybe it's a similar thing?? I dunno. Have you asked a MCHN? Or someone who knows about the different formulas?

Bec - you can take Duratuss (sp?) for a dry cough. All pharmacies have an online database that says which medications are suitable for lactating mothers. Just ask. I took the duratuss last year when DS and I were sick, but it didn't help much. However I was REALLY sick and couldn't shake the cough for a couple of weeks, and I waited and waited before taking anything pharmaceutical.
DS's eyes are still in between dark blue and brown. It's quite unusual, they're neither one colour or the other, but not hazel either. I have dark blue eyes, DP has brown, and apparently brown eyes are dominant genetically. Or so I was told. I think DS's eyes will go brown eventually though, but if Cam's eyes are still blue there may be a chance they'll stay blue. Friends of mine, twins, had green eyes till they were 10, then they suddenly went brown, and their hair went from blonde to dark brown too, and has stayed that way.

Sass - good luck with reaching your goal weight, and TTC #2! That's some motivation! And I hope that you can feel better without needing to stay on the meds, just by cutting back on the workload. It's great that Jayda loves the water. How's the teething thing going for you guys at the moment? Any teeth yet? I have some here you can have... lol
I also hope you can get Jayda to sleep without needing to give her the bottle in bed. I know I fight the "feed-to-sleep" thing all the time and it's so easy to give in to it, but it's not good. Another reason why now DP puts kidlet to bed at night. He dont got boobies!

Girl - I hope you went well with your exams! What a relief it must be now that that's all over for a while. Great that you can spend your time with DD now. Unfortunately, illness is something that you have to expect with childcare and so many kids dribbling and snotting everywhere! I hope it helps build DDs immune system a bit though, and she enjoys the time with the other kids.

LMK - gee, what a pain with SIL's kid. I hope it doesn't escalate. Kids do stupid things (grown-ups too!) but there's a deeper parenting issue there that needs to be addressed. Hope you can sort it out peaceably and Cody's ok.

Mis_tree - Hope you're going ok at home with your little shadow! You started being a SAHM at the full-on super-mobile stage, so I reckon it will seem pretty hard! I'm so exhausted these days, and I used to work like a maniac 15 hours a day in a commercial kitchen without a problem. Now I dont know what's wrong with me...

Abb - Are you freezing now?? I am. What the heck is up with Victoria's weather? hmmm... Aadi is also getting hungrier every day now, it seems. We're giving him 3 meals a day, and he's started yelling for more all the time. I have a hard time keeping up with him! That's on top of 4 or more milk feeds. He loves my cooking, apparently, so that's nice, but if I don't have something prepared and ready to go, an avocado is a good option. He'll eat half an avo without a problem. If only they weren't getting so expensive now!

I saw a woman at Flinders Street station the other day full-on screeching and swearing at her little boy and going right off, and the kid hadn't even done anything that drastic to warrant such abuse (and it was - she was smacking him and pushing him around). He had run away from her a few metres in excitement because the train was leaving, and it is a very busy, crowded place. But it was so obvious that she was at the end of her tether and was out of control herself. She had no support (her DP was off buying cigarettes!) and she just didn't know how to cope so she flipped out in the worst possible place. I was embarassed for her, and saddened too. I just hate to think what kind of home life that little boy must have, and it just reminds me not to judge other parents because we all have our battles, some harder than others. And some people just have no clue about parenting, or how to ask for or look for support or advice. I never want to get to that point!
Anyway, that was completely off topic, but it took me all day to get thru this with interruptions and naps and walks and housework, and what would this thread be without an essay from me every now and then? :rofl:

Last night I took 4 Panadol's, 2 this morning. I am feeling so good. I am thinking about studying part-time this year, which means graduation will take place in November. But I want to complete it in July but too much stress lately. :doh: I seriously do not what I am going to do. I want to take DD swimming but have to wait until she gets better. She thoroughly enjoys bathtime, trying to drink the water, Lol.

It's news to me. I didn't know DD would be sick everytime she came from Childcare. The exam did go well, I desperately want to know my results so. Hey, maybe the lady at Flinder Street Station had a tough day and took it out on the little one. How embarrasing though. She should have composed herself. By the way, I have family in Melbourne (Mother, siblings, aunt and uncles, cousins, grandparents, and friends). So I can't wait to take DD there mid-year to meet everyone. I went to primary school, high school and started my university degree there. It's a wonderful place compared to WA however DH likes it here better. I am comtemplating moving back despite DH wishes.

That is it - I have decided. I have been thinking all day. I have decided to complete my final semester within a one year period. I have taken my daughter to childcare for 8 days (I counted) because I took a summer school subject. I will not attend classes but take my units externally. 3 units this semester and 2 next semester. I do not want someone else looking after my child. I do not want her coming home sick. I do not want her there for long hours without seeing her mother or father. She will be at home with me at all times. Now, I can sleep. My decision is final. I feel good about my decision because I am putting my baby girl first.

Good for you, Girl! It's really important that you have this special time with your DD.
I think the mum at the train station had had a number of very hard days, by the looks of things. I hate to see someone come to that point and vent all their frustrations on their kids. It's not their fault they're inquisitive and excitable. That's good qualities to have in a child, but some people dont know how to see that, or manage it.
You must miss Melbourne! I didn't grow up here, but came down from Qld on my own and finished year 12 here. I've been all over the place and back and forth lots of times now, but I always end up back in Melbourne. I love it here.

DD and I went out today. I didn't want to stay home. We went shopping, had lunch and came home. She is still breastfeeding her. I realised how much she enjoys it. During her time at daycare, she refused the bottle at all times or only had no more than 40mls. My goal was to breastfeed her til 6 months. But it continued and I was happy too. I am going to continue BF for the remaining of the year. Our trip to Rottnest Island seems to be cancelled. My one year anniversary is on the 22nd. I am a little mad at DH at the moment, so I am not interested in going anywhere with him until our little issue is resolved. I feel like escaping to Melbourne for a month, but can't otherwise DH might get the wrong idea. So I am staying put for now.

Wow, you came to Melbourne by yourself at the age of 17/18? You are a wonderwoman in my eyes. I am 22 turning 23 this year and I can't stand being alone. My DH always tells me to 'Grow up' when I complain about being alone. He says 'You are not alone, you have a baby', I guess he doesn't understand that I have never stayed alone in a house for more than 3 - 4 hours and that I came from a big family. It must be a feared I developed once I got married.

Girl- Good for you. The getting sick part is a HUGE downer for me also about child care. which is why i wasnt ready to go back to work at 6 months. I just couldnt imagine my baby getting sick.

Well things are driving me nuts. DD is climbing up on everything and walking round furniture. She is so quick now and i feel like i'm constantly moving her away, taking things off her. She is getting into absolutly everything. its so full on. Still having formula issues, MCHN only does thursdays so will go to the GP tomoz. I cant let her keep having dioreah. and no way i'm going back to black hardish ones. it makes me upset that i let us down with the BF... it breaks my heart to see her with an upset tummy and bowel issues. I think that Bananna effects her ezcema also. after she had some i noticed it flared up and that was the only thing i could hink of that she had eaten different.

jess: is there a reason u have her on the HA formula. is it the ezma (sp)
jayda is on the NAN HA and she is fine with it, she was about like u discribed when she was first on it. maybe u sound try a soy or goats milk formula.

Sass- Is jayda on the stage 2 or just on number 1 still??

after 3 days of bad dioreah i just cant do it to her anymore. I had no car today and it was raining but tried her on some lactose free UHT milk i had here ( i watered it down a bit and voila no dioreah last nappy but a regular looking baby poo... my CHN only does thursdays so off to the GP or even the chemist for recommendations. i just dont know what to do. they say she isnt lactose intolerent cos the last few have made her constipated. Grrr... I'm so mad at myself for not do ing more to keep at the BF... I feel like i have let her down.

We have 2 bruises, a bump and a split tounge this evening. DD is a dare devil. She has no fear. She has been trying so hard to walk round furniture and even tries to take off (hence the bumps and bruises) i just dont know what to do. i'm worried she will seriously hurt herself. And OMG she has been eating so much. Begging for solid feeds. She's wanting to feed herself so i need to look for some recipies of things she can feed herself. anyideas?? like finger food stuff or bite sized pieces.

Jess - just get a tarp and put it down. It's going to get really messy from here on in!! Or tie the kids to the clothesline and hose 'em off! No, I'm kidding... here is the BB baby food recipes link, there's some good stuff there that might help. Mashed potato cakes (with fish, chicken and/or vegies) might be worth a try. I picked up a recipe book from the op-shop this afternoon, I'll have a browse and get back to you!
So sorry to hear about the dramas with the formula. That's awful. I would ring the MCHN hotline, expecially if Tiahna's got diarrhea. Dont want the poor darling to get dehydrated or sick. There has to be someone who can help you out (coz I can't. :( ) Soy or goats milk might be an option if she's not able to digest the dairy proteins and that's the cause of the runs... :shrug: Don't beat yourself up about not BF any more. You did everything you could.
IKWYM about no fear. DS is the same now, and is constantly climbing up onto things and then screaming when he falls down and smacks his head on the floor or whatever. He's decided now it's hilarious to roll from lying to sitting to lying down again, and he does it over and over again, and laughs and claps every time he sits up. He's nuts! Oh well, at least it keeps him amused for a minute or two. And also climbing up and standing, starting to try cruising on the furniture, but he's sooo wobbly!
Aadi is sick at the moment... all that talk of bubs getting colds, and now he's the snot-monster from Hell! It's gross, and he's so snuffly and grumpy cause he can't breathe properly. He's waking himself up choking every few hours and crying so much. It's awful, and it's not like we were getting any sleep beforehand, so we're all exhausted now. But he's got so much energy during the day it's ridiculous. I don't understand how he does it. Bouncing, kicking and biting, rolling and climbing all over the place. He was gobbling up loads of food until today, but he's just not in the mood to eat anything now except breakfast.

Girl - I would have done anything to belong to a real "family" as a kid, but it wasn't going to happen. Therefore I was kind of forced into being independant from a young age, and now prefer it that way. Happy in my own company. Left home at 15. But now that I have a baby, and I NEED that family support and don't have it. A baby isn't really company (despite what your DH might say). You're even more alone and isolated with a baby if you dont have family or friends with you. In other words, come back to Melbourne, and we can hang out! :lol:

Lol. Maybe in the future. I can't make plans at the moment while still studying. Although I would love to work in Melbourne. I love Melbourne dearly. Everything about Melbourne makes me feel comfortable. I doubt I would feel lonely if I was home alone with DD in Melbourne. But here, I have some sort of fear. Calling the husband and telling him to come a little early, etc. He doesn't seem to understand that a baby isn't company! :rolleyes: DD still has a runny nose. :doh: I can't believe it. Normally she recovers within 3 days. She is still sick since coming back from daycare on Monday. :wall: I hope Aadi gets well soon.

Hi Everyone
Had a very busy week and am now happy it is all over and now hopefully get back to normal for a bit. My sister and i organised a suprise 60th for my dad (saturday night) it has taken us about a month or so but the night came around and he had the best time,my mum did aswell, although she doesnt like party's much she enjoyed catching up with everyone, it was there 40th wedding anniversary today so we had a get together today also. I am exhausted but it was totally worth it to see how happy he was. I had my best friend come and sit at our place with the kids whilst the party was on, and she made a comment about how boring Hamish is as he went to bed at 7.45pm and straight sleep, so she didnt get much time to play with him.lol Next time she would like to spend sometime with him during the day. I also walked a couple of hours on the weekend for relay for life, so it has been a very full on weekend for us.

Jess - Yes Laura text me about half an hour after she had Bella i couldn't believe it but so happy for her, i haven't had a chance to get to hospital so i will leave it a couple of weeks before i visit now i think.

Girl - I agree with NaNa having a baby is not like having the stimulation of other adults etc, i also come from a big family and like people around me, i am lucky to have my mum living around the corner so i visit nearly everyday, sometimes i just walk around there to have a 10 min chat.

NaNa - I hope Aadi is feeling better soon, Hamish is just getting over the snotty nose thing, i dont think he had a cold as such, it seems he gets cold like symptoms everytime he cuts a tooth, he has 4 teeth now and two more nearly cut threw.

Not sure who mentioned it but Hamish is also bumping his head and chin, mouth, etc as he has no fear also, he lets go now when standing, it is very scary as he is so game and looks so tiny, Maddi was walking at 9 months but she was alot bigger and stronger than Hamish, he looks so tiny. He is very cheeky now, learning something new all the time. I stopped feeding him yesterday and he is now fully bottle fed. He was only feeding off me in the morning for last week as refused breast during the day and only would take bottle. Yesterday he was fussing and getting upset so i decided maybe it is a sign, and i think i might be right. I should be pleased i got this far i suppose.

Hi to everyone else i have missed, just realised the time and i really need to get to bed, be back tomorrow..

NaNa- Mess doesnt bother me. i give DD alot of finger food mainly veges and fruit. i was using the highchair but it ends up everywhere. so now i just put down a towel and sit her on it. I saw these plastic drop sheets at coles for under the high chair which i'm thinking might be the go from her on in. lay it down and wipe it off when dirty. Have a toddler recipie book but the foods are more for older toddlers. I tried to phone the local Child and family health services (never been before i usually see the MCHN at the chemist. The MCHN is only there on thursdays. I spoke with the chemist and they werent much help. They said the same thing as the GP that she woulndt have a lactose intolerance cos other formula made her constipated. They say trial and error. how many tins will i buy and go to waste. Its weird there is a breastfeeding hotline but no hotline for formula feeding. except the individual brand hotlines which dont give any advice. :dunno: have no idea what to do.
DD is very wabbly also but its just not stopping her. i worry that she will hurt her back but no sooner i put her down on her bottom she is back up again. Hope Aadi gets better. I'm still dealing with snooty kids. the worst part is the lack of sleep and the overtired kids. Also know how you and Girl feel about the lack of family and friends support. I dont see my family anymore (you all know long story) But from goining from a large close knit family to just DP's small distant family its very lonesome. i try making friends but not so easy.

Abb- glad to hear things went well on the weekend. WOW at the 40 th wedding anniversary... thats amazing. I thought laura would have sent you a text but thought i'd menion it JIC.
DS was walking at 10 months but was alot stronger then DD is . I really dont want her to be walking yet. i'm not ready. Hugs on the no more BF. Yoiu have done so well to get this far. I wish DD had the choice to stop or keep going. But cant go back now.

Jess, I bought a plastic tablecloth for $1.50 and taped it to the floor (and up the walls!) under DS's high chair. I pull it off and hose it down on the clothesline! He wont sit still anywhere else, and even in the chair he waves his arms around and bashes on the tray, and I have to hold his hands down with one arm and shovel food in his mouth with the other! He simply cannot be still, even when he's asleep. Ooooh, and dontcha just love the snot trails!?! Combined with the drool from teething and not being able to swallow properly, we're back to bibs full time for the moment. Yuk.
I'm so sorry things aren't working out with the formula and nobody seems to be able to help. Have you posted here on BB? I know there's a section somewhere on formula feeding... It sounds a bit like maybe there's a problem with digesting the milk proteins, not the lactose (it's a different thing). Do you recall any problems for her when you were BF and you had dairy products? I don't know, maybe I'm clutching at straws here. It must be an expensive venture when so much is going to waste if she can't tolerate it. Are you able to get your hands on some sample packs of a soy or goats milk formula?

Abb - wow, you have been busy! congratulations to your parents on being married for 40 years! That's amazing.
You'd never even know Aadi was sick except for the snot and coughing! He's even more boistrous and energetic than usual and it's driving me mental. I'm soo tired and look like crap. I'm hoping I don't get sick too because I'm already suffering hayfever from all the smoke in the air here. Puffy eyes and sneezing... bleuh. There's only so much shopping online I can do to make myself feel better ;)

Just got back from getting miss Juliette weighed, can't beieve our babies are 9 months old!! Anyway, she is now 10.7kg and 71.5cm long. AMAZING!! Zander is 15.8kg so only 5kg difference in three years LOL!

I amazed by all these babies trying to walk, how cool is that?! Zander was doing the same thing at this age, but not miss J. At the moment she is commando crawling & that's about it, she has pulled herself up on the lounge twice so far though. I think she's still quite a few months off walking but I'm cool with that. I just wish she'd start crawling properly cos the front of her clothes are soooo dirty all the time from the commando crawling!

By this stage he had eight teeth (he had eight by eight months) and miss Juliette has a grand total of ZERO!! Gummy little thing that she is, but she still manages finger foods really well.

How is everyone going with food too? Juliette loves her food, but still gags with anything mushy. Poor baby can't deal with yoghurt, cereal, custard or anything like that. She is however eating family meals which is just awesome. Last night she had devilled sausages with pasta & the night before was spaghetti bolognaise. I'm just finding it hard to give her good variety for breakfast & lunch when she won't eat anything mushy. Sandwiches & toast are pretty boring all the time and fruit isn't fantastic at the moment.....

jess: i knoew wats its like having to try dif formulas and yes it does get expensive. r u on the step 2 or 1 still? i read that someone was using NAN HA 1 and bub was fine but as soon as they went to 2 they were doing really yuck poo's and they were told it was fine to stay on step 1 u dont have to go to 2.

nana: the table cloth sounds like a good idea alot cheaper too. i seen the things jess was talkin about in coles and they r like $20 for 1.

Jess - i use a shower curtain, i did the same with Dd, just easy to wipe and hose down when need be. I have Hamish on Heinz Nurture, i have a friend that works in the chemist and she told me its the same formula as SMA and i cant remember the name of the other one. He has had no troubles with it at all. Not sure what you should do but i would maybe ring mchn maybe.

Sarah - yay on the Juliette's weight etc, they have all grown so fast. Hamish has 4 teeth and two more just about cut threw.

NaNa- i have has hayfever really badly lately too, didnt think of it being fromthe smoke. My eyes are driving me crazy, i suppose now i am not feeding i can get some tablets.

NaNa- BF she was fine with and no change with dairy i had to cut out dairy for few weeks when i was BF when we were checking for reflux. I contacted the CH Services up the road but they said se the MCHN on thursday at the chemist... :wall: Its a complete waste of money buying tins that go to waste. i just threw a whole tin of formula out (heinz one i had here that i used 2 bottles and she couldnt keep them in) Its just frustrating. Good idea bout the table cloth also. cheaper then the thing i saw. Also were back to full time bibs. sick and teething sicks. so much flids around everywhere... Blerk.... DD hates me wiping her nose too and it ends up smeared everywhere. So yuk...

Sarah- YAY you made it in... Woo go Juliette. She's such a cutie. WOW at only 5 kgs difference. Zander must be little tho... or Jordan is big. jordan is 4 and 22 kgs 113 cm tall ... lol. With the teeth, DD had 4 fully (2 top 2 bottom) and the next 1 each side up the top have cut through but havent come down all the way just yet. Food, Dd goes off it when she is sick but other wise she's loving everything. Pureed, chunky, solid she'll eat almost everything and knos how to use her teeth to bite food now.

Sass- There was only #2 at the shop and so i brought #2. i was thinking bout trying #1 but didnt want the same result IUKWIM.

Abb- My friend uses SMA- Its made by s26 and is almost the same but its thicker (hence the "fuller feed" slogan) I heard good things bout heinz but when i gave it to DD she couldnt keep it in, she threw the WHOLE bottle back up within 5 mons of finishing it. i thought ok maybe its from changing tried again and same thing so i stopped using it.

sarah: great to hear from u on here. dont worry about the teeth jayda has non either. i have been thinkin there r some coming for liek the last 2 months.
jayda is loving her food. she loves yogurt and custard and has veggies i make. ummm still kinda mushy but getting lumpier as we go lol. she used to gag at lumps

Juliette had butter chicken last night & loooved it :D She's so adventurous with food so I'm loving it! Not much else has happened since yesterday, but are you all impressed I'm here two days in a row?!

well i have a video to post on FB but it wont work. Little miss is now using her lion walker to get around. she holds it and walks round on her knees. she's crawling normally almost all the time now and OMG cannot sit down. I posted pics on FB of her after she had climbed up the frame for the JJ. Cheecky girl.

I got in touch with the CHN and she helped out a little. She thinks i should go back to the last HA and try and combat the constipation with more fruits and veges and trying to get her to have more water. So we'll see how we go. She told me to offer more food then i have been cos little miss is still having 6 milks bottles at least.

Well best be off DP is on night shift so i wanna get the kids to bed early so i can clean up while i'm awake.

Sarah - Welcome back to this thread. Glad to here Juliette is doing well and seems be growing well. Yay on her being so adventerous with food - makes it alot easier when you can just give them what we're eating hey. I haven't made up any foods specifically for Cam for many weeks (though I must admit I have used some of my premaid foods a couple of times and a few tins on lazy weekend nights), but otherwise trying to just give what we eat.

Jess - Sorry your having trouble with formula's...hope you can find one that suits soon...only a few more months until you can hopefully give normal milk (as long as you can find what the problem is of course). Also IKWYM about the snot trails and bubbles...thankfully our colds are pretty much gone now.

Abb - Yes you should be proud you made it this far with the BF...good on you. Wow it did sound like you had a busy weekend. And isn't it always the way that bubs behave perfectly going to bed on time when you've got a friend/family member who has come to visit....you kinda need to let them know in advance so they can get some cuddles in hey.

Sassy - Glad to hear Jayda's enjoying her food...especially yoghurts and custards...I've occassionally lost track of time during the day and find these perfect to give for Cam's lunch with a couple of pieces of fruit.

NaNa - Wow that post the other day was a good one...I'd actually gotten on to do a post, but by the time I read it I ran out of time :rofl:...now look what's happened, pretty much everyones posted since and I find it so hard to keep up. Sorry to here Aadi's gotten sick now too...most of the babies from my mothers group and even other friends bubs have gotten sick too - must be all the changes in the weather again. Sounds like you have a cheeky little boy...with the rolling and falling and laughing and all.

Girl - Good on you for extending your studies so you can spend time with your little girl. That's why I've decided to only go back to work part time though we probably can't really afford it - I just don't want to miss out on seeing Cameron grow up...afterall (for me anyway) this is one reason we decided to have children.

Not much new here...only me pulling my hair out....DH's job is in trouble. Due to the financial problems the world is having as he drives trucks and delivers containers...well the orders have slowed down big time that they are having an extended break. We don't know when there will be more work coming so DH is having to look for a new job. ARGH!!! DH was a little complacent about it all though, so I had to remind him a couple of times that I'm not getting money anymore. He wanted to do a career change, which will probably include doing year 10 maths again, but we just can't afford it at the moment while we are bringing $0 money a week :rolleyes: Think he's got the message now and hopefully will find a new job soon.

Anyhoo, Cam's just woken...I'll try to pop back later.

bec: sorry to hear about DH's job. i think my DH is pretty lucky his wont be effected. mine is a bit up and down at the mo too i dont have as many kids caus ei had some go to skool this yr and no new ones have come in to take the place. it is a bit of a shock when ur used to getting a certain amount of money then it goes down to less the half.

Jess: hope the old formula works out for ya. maybe get some prune juice read for her too. 6 bottle wow that seems liek heaps to me but jayda has alway shad less the "normal" she is at 3 but is slowly starting to drop her morning one she doesnt seem too interested in it.

jayda has been a poo sleeping latly. she is not wanting basically any sleep during the day but by like 6 she is so tired. i was putting her to bed at 7 but she wakes up so many times so 1 night this week i kept her up to 8 (which has been her normal bed time) and she slept through. i had a meeting last ngiht and DH didnt wanna deal with ehr and keep her up till 8 so he put her to bed early. she slept till i got home at 10 then woke up on and off all night.
so my question is do u think i could tape her to her bed and make her sleep during the day lol just kidding but i wish i could lol.

awwww my little bubba boodles is 9months today.

we had a shocking night last night. she was at mums yesterday and had about 10mins sleep all day so yeah i paid for it last night.
mum keeps telling me i need to take her to a sleep school. she has about 2 half hr sleeps during the day but no one knows how to get her to sleep but me. well they dont persist thats the only prob. if she doesnt go to sleep in 5 to 10 min they give up.

i have my half yearly safety check today so i am not looking forward to that. i have full on kids and i can hardly keep my eyes open but ill have to put on the happy face while the office lady is here.

Its been quiet in here.

Dont have alot to mention today, Hamish now has 5 teeth and one i can just see the white coming through so i hope that is it for awhile, although i should not complain he has not altered his sleep patterns atm. He is going down at around 7.30pm and sleeps until 7am. He then has a bottle and play, breakfast around 8 then back to bed for 1 to 1 1/2 hours then play and lunch around 12 back to bed around 1 fo 2 to 2 1/2 hours. It is working really well atm, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Jess - 6 bottles seems alot, hamish has 3 x 200ml but he would drink ateast 2 x sippy cups of water, its funny he loves water. At the beginning i warmed ot a little but now he has it cold, will even drink out of water bottle if i forget his sippy cup when out.

Bec - not good on the job for your dh, is there any other job prospectd for him? It seems to be happening everywhere atm, in my old job they have almost halved the office with staff retrenchments since i left, its so sad. Dp's company have already had one downsizing this year and 3 people in his department lost there jobs but hopefully that will be it for awhile. I hope your Dh will be ok or finds a job soon.

Sass - i hope jayda starts sleeping better for you soon and you dont need to tape her to bed..lol Hoefully it is just a stage, ds was a pain for awhile there, i even resorted to putting a cd payer in his room and he would fall asleep listening to music.

How quiet has it been... Well in here. I cracked 1500 posts few days ago helping out few people. Some special person decided i was worthy of a RAK. I noticed that NaNa, and Tracy both got one also. Abb did you upgrade??

I feel so special that some kind person has been so generous.

Still having formula issues. GRRR... but we'll get there. DD doesnt like water- never has. wont drink it hot warm or cold. I thought 6 milks was a bit too much but i dont want to cut her down if she isnt getting any other fluids (water) I'm thinking its cos she has been (she is a bit) sick. plus the dioreah (spl) is probably making her a bit dehydrated hence the extra thirst. :dunno:

Off today to see the CHN finally. Had a wonderful lady at the chemist help and gave some great advice. gave me some samples to try before i buy yet another tin and it gets wasted.

Abb- We have same amount of teeth also. Still waiting for #6 to move down more. and i'm hope we get a break also. going through a tonne of bibs and clothes with the dribble.

my check went well so i am happy all that is over for another 6 months. did a little bit of a lie and i think she knew i was lying. one of the questions was r there any health issues. i havnt told them about the depression meds cause i am fit to work and i dont wan tthem to think i am not. she looked at me funny when i said no said r u sure no stress or anything....... should i of said something?

well i am gonna try to get jayda back into a routine over the weekend and i am gonna be strong and say no when people expect me to put jaydas sleep off because they want us to do soemthign for them right htere and then. i mena goign to see someone or doign somethign on their comp can wait or if not then we will come fix the comp and they can have jayda the ngiht and see if it is worth waiting a extra 20min next time lol.

Jess: the only thing that i was told about the formula is that it can take 2 weeks for a new formula to settle down if u swap. i know it is hard to stick through the poo issue if it is hard or runny but it can be worse to keep changing.

abb: wow yr routine sounds great wanna swap for even one day lol. latly mine has been. sleep at 8pm wake at random all ngiht for 10 to 15 mins each time about 10 times a night. wake anytime between 4 and 630am breaky at 7am bottle and try to sleep again at 930 (no sleep) morign tea lunch blah blah bottle and ment to be sleep at 2 (sometimes get 30mins at this sleep)

ahhhhhhh it is so damn muggy. i am sweating my bum off, well there is enough there to sweat off some maybe it is a good thing.

i just rang and booked in with a hypnotherapist for the weight loos see how that goes. i really wanted to get in soon but i coudlnt get in until 6th march which isnt too far away.

so glad it is thursday i am so sick of the kids and the heat. i gave them water to play in to kool htem down and now they have decided they will play in the dirt patch so u guessed it water plus red dirt equals :doh:

Sass - so far so good with routine, although somedays dont go smoothly, but when we are home thats usually the way it goes. I think its a personal choice to tell them about your depression, if it affects your job and they way you work then maybe you should have but certainly up to you. I have a friend who did the hypnotherapy for smoking and it work, would love to know if it works for weight as i would try anything atm.

oh, I'm still around. Not really lurking, just reading and never getting a moment to post because this boy of mine is a serious handful. No, two hands full! Sick and snotty, frustrated because he can't breathe properly, can't sleep for more than 20 minutes without waking up sliming everything and coughing. It's horrible. And he's just into everything!

Sassy - that conversation is hilarious!! Love it! Can't wait to hear some of the gems our kidlets will come out with real soon... I wouldn't have bothered mentioning the anti-depressant meds, unless they're affecting you. Really, half the population is on some sort of mood-altering medication (and the other half probably should be!) so don't stress it. So long as you're functioning and working effectively, is there a problem? Jayda's "schedule" sounds like ours at the moment too. It sucks. Admittedly, Aadi is having longer naps than Jayda, but he fights it so much. He's such a monster when he's tired though!

Abb - Our visitors move out this weekend! I am so relieved. They've been ok, but I'm tired of trying to be polite and not the narky, snappy biatch that I really feel like because I'm so tired all the time and they're always in the bathroom or kitchen when I need it. I got a phone call this morning from another feral friend of my mum's who's looking for somewhere to rent in Melbs too, and I just broke out in a cold sweat and nearly panicked! That's bad... but if you need somewhere to stay when you come for the meet-up in June, you're welcome!! We might still be here.

I never thought Aadi would get the hang of it, or ever drink out of a bottle or cup, but he's managing a bit now with the Pigeon mag-mag cup and a Tommy Tippee narrow-neck bottle with handles. Took forever it seems!

Sorry have been super busy lately, i have just become a tupperware demonstrator so been trying to get things done fr that.

Abbie has got two more teeth now so now she has two up and top and two down the bottom. She has been a really great teether not too grumpy which is good. Other then that not alot has been happening here.

Sass- I've given most formulas a good go usually a week but some, the ones that made her throw up i gave 2-3 times and no change so i stopped them. Were now on Karicare gold after trialing her on the sample sachets and so far no vomiting and no dioreah just hoping we can tick the no constipation box also. Been trying desperatley to give her water in between and plenty of fruit and veges so we'll see i guess. Love the convo. I picked DS up from preschool and i couldnt find him. He was under the desk where this little girl was sitting. He came out and i asked what he was doing and he said i'm rubbing sarah's feet. i said why and he says" you told daddy if he loved you he's rub your feet".... Awwweee... If only DP had of listen and i'd actually gotten a foot massage.

Abb- Its ok i dont expect you to tell... I think i know who gave me mine. I think its great that its annonomus (even thou i'd LOVE to personally thank my giver) I think its more for the other people who didnt get a RAK. Well DD is up on everything. yesterday she was up standing against the lounge when she tried to reach out to me walking past and just fell cos her feet and legs are still a bit unsteady.
