Bec i havent given Hamish cows milk yet but mum made him custard the other day and then rang me to say she had put cows milk in it but he only had a few teaspoons. I use formula for hamish's cereal in the mornings as i am having trouble expressing atm. I gave my dd cows milk in food at around 10 months i think. Ikwym about them learning things so fast, they are growing so quickly it almost makes me want a newborn again.
Girl i hope you can get yasmeena's sleep issues sorted for you soon, it must be very exhausting and frustrating for you. I now know why they use sleep deprivation as a term of torture in some country's as that is certainly what it is torture.
Jess i hope you are feeling a bit better now and had no wake ups from Tiahna last night.
Nothing new to report here really, Hamish seems to have his sleep back to normal now but his top teeth are still bothering him, they seem to be taking forever. Hamish is talking so well its amazing, he watches my mouth all the time and then tries to mimic what i say it is very cute. He is still not crawling properly cant seem to get arms and legs in co-ordination yet, he gets around everywhere fine but i wouldnt actually call it crawling.

girl" i am in the same boat as u at the mo. i have tried the controlled crying but she just screams forever and pulls the air wrap off the cot and plays with it while she is screaming. it takes about 2 hrs to get her to sleep and i have to wait until sh eis dead asleep b4 i can put her int he the cot. her day sleeps r liek this too. she was a great sleeper she still sleeps through but it is just getting her to sleep that is the prob.
i was thinkin of changing her bottles and soilds around abit so she has a bottle b4 bed. at the mo her last bottle is at 7 and we rnt gettin her to bed till 930 to 10

Hi all... I felt so bad for Girl and yasmeenia that i didnt feel like i should post about myself... But since all of you wonderful ladies asked...
Still sick... my throat is still sore and my muscles are acheing again... Not sure if its from being sick or from the excercise i have been doing... i did 2 40 min Wii sessions yesterday and have been walking so not sure if its my body satying "arrggghhh whats going on" hehe... So unfit... I have a long way to go so its just training myself to get back into things again... Just sitting down for lunch ( i know its early but i have been up since 5am.) have washed and hung out 2 loads of washing... about to do hang out 2 more and i have vaccummed the carpet, swept and mopped the tiles havent stopped... Been dancing round trying to shake the aches and pains and trying not to sit round and feel sorry for myself...
Yesterday i have a whinging baby and a disobiedient 4 yr old and strained my voice so could hardly speak until the late arvo and then again this morning it happened again...
4 pm DD was so tired i fed her solid bathed her and gave her a bottle and she was asleep by 5pm... she woke up at about 11.30 ( i was still awake, DP isnt home and i have trouble going to an empty bed) i had no milk from the 38+ degree day we had and i had to give her a bottle but she didnt wake or even stir til 5.30 which was ok cos i was up with my acheing throat.. :wall:
Today she has been ok she's been asleep for bout 1/2 hour... i think she has really been mising the floor time... I just havent had the energy to chase her round the house so i have kinda restricted her to the highchair or JJ.. So she had a goot wander round before she showed her tired signs... Cried for bout 5 mons but is sound asleep... hoping for at least another hour... I want this house imacculate by the end of the week for DP... Which means i'm chucking the ***** out while he isnt here... HEHE...
Bec- Thanks heaps... its quite difficult to express feelings through typing.. i mean i say it in my head as i type but when i read it back later it sound like i have no emotion or feeling... I really get a connection to you all when i read your posts... i think cos i'm so worried about how i sound that i read all of your posts how i would say them... And you all have kind words... I have never been offended or taken back by anything on here... Its such a lovely thread we have here... The noise DD makes is aweful i feel your pain... DS says that DD is trying to poop when she makes the noise so there is another discription for the noise... WOW at Cam trying to stand... DD is obcessed with jumping ATM... The JJ has made her legs stringer but now she you stand her up and bends her knees to try and bounce... As for the cows milk i think in small quantaties it sould be fine i have used it to make custard for her and she was fine... its only a small amount... The GP told me if i had supply issues that i could give her2 parts cows milk 1 part water?? (not sure if he was 100% sure on that) she was fine on the small amounts no reaction
Abb- I was looking through some pics and OMG how small were they... its amazing at how fast they have grown... my little baby is nowalmost a toddler... few more months and we'll all be having 1st birthdays... (with DD there will be a few of us on here celebrating on the same day... 29th May... ) R hamishes top teeth cut????
Also how many of your bubs have all 4 front teeth... DD has had all 4 cut and showing for few weeks now and people keep saying how thats early??? :dunno:
Sass- maybe change the routine with Jayda... quiet time at night is good for relaxing and settling down before bed... bath, massage, milk snuggle and a quietly read book... thats what we do here... Then i tell everyone "Tiahna is going to bed now she would like a kiss good night... DP and DS both come over and give her last cuddle and kiss and then once there finnished i say good night kiss her and thats the last thing i say when i walk to her room i look everywhere else but her put the dummy in while i have her in my arms and lay her down put the music on and out... i stick to the same thing EVERY night... It took A LONG TIME to get to this point thou... it takes persistance and reptition... .... (and now your all rolling your eyes thinking ... Pfffttt shethinks she's a know it all... i dont its just advice i got and it is working)

jess: hope ya feeling better soon. i am tryinto get on the fit alot more did 10mint his morning hahahaha.
dont worry i dont think u think u know everything hahaha did that make sense.
i am open to any suggestions.
how r everyones sleeps going a thte mo? jayda seems to have a sleep around 10 (if i can get her to) and i went to put her back down again b4 but i think it might be too early maybe again about 2pm?
she usually has bottles at 7 11 3 7 but has been wanting the mornign one earlier. do u think i should try to stock her up on a bit of water at solids at 7pm and then give her a bottle at 830?
i know all this is prob my fault we have absolutly no routine of a night for bath tea sleep or anythign so i think we need to start that lol i was tryin to do early baths b4 DH gets home be i think i might do a b4 bed one. its so hard Dh doesnt get home till 7pm and he wants to play with jayda but he stirs her so much. i dont wanna tell him not to play with her.
-
Sass- My DP does the same stirs up the kids before bed... I guess its hard if he's getting home at that time... Maybe try to make her bed time a little later but then still he'd work her up... I hate telling DP not to work her up... but its hard... our "routine" (not really set in stone) but most days we have wake up 5-7am... milk solid 1 hour later, usually at 9.30-10 she is having a nap say 40 mins then again at 1.30-3pm she'll go down for another usually a bigger sleep say 1 1/2 - 3 hours
Today however its SOOOO hot she woke up at 5.30 had boob, refused solid but wanted to feed herself so i gave her dried fruit and a carrot stick and some cuccumber slices to chew on... then she wanted more milk so i feed her again she had a long play on the floor and was back asleep at 11.15am and to my shock horror she is still sleeping like a baby... its fantastic... i've done so much today... feeling great even though deep down i'm in pain... HAHA
Sass- maybe DP can havea quiet snuggle with her maybe make his time with her special by reading a book orfeeding herher bottle... this way its bonding time and not too much excitement... ???

Hi All,
Sassy - Our routine is pretty much
6.30 wake, play
7.00 milk, little play (usually in his playstation thing, while I eat breakie)
7.30 food, little play in high chair
8-8.30ish bed
10-11ish wake, play
11.30 milk, little play til milk settles (Cam's still a little bit chucky, but not as bad as it once was)
12.30 food, play in high chair (I usually try to eat lunch here)
1.00 play on floor or lately been going for a swim
1.45-2ish milk
2-2.30 bed
4.30 wake, play
5.30 food, play in high chair (usually prepare dinner here, depending on what's on the menu...sometimes if i'm really organised I'll make it while he sleeps in the arvo)
6.00 bath
6.30 milk (as I'm still bf, this one has always been an expressed bottle), little play
7-7.30 bed
Play time can be anything from with toys on the floor, peek-a-boo, singing, reading, even playing with the spoon after his food, or give him a rusk or lately starting on finger foods. I also give him some water in a sippy cup, which keeps him amused for a while (not sure he drinks that much, but I'm sure he's getting some...he'll work it out).
IKWYM about DH wanting to play with Jayda when he gets home. My DH is the same with Cam, most days he gets home about 6-7pm (varies depending on traffic as he drives trucks and the depot is along Brisbane river). Is it possible you could delay bath so that DH baths/showers with her or dries her. Does he give her the last bottle? I've also put the routine up on the fridge so he can understand my day a little more - which seems to have made a difference.
Abb - Glad Hamish is sleeping better again. Hope those teeth hurry up. We don't seem to be having top teeth issues...yet..but I'm sure it's not far away.
Jess - I don't think its that early they have there 4 teeth. My cousin's son had 4 at 4months, and 8 by 8months. Another girl at mothers group daugther has all her 1st lot of teeth by 6months. I don't know that many bubs, but going by that it seems quite normal. Yeah, it's amazing how much you can get done when you put your mind to it...and bubs remains asleep. Had that day yesterday...but today I'm letting us down, feeling rather tired (still having trouble sleeping :wall:)
Well, this is one of those organised days....dinner is cooking. Doing a lamb casserole, which is probably really stupid as it is sooo hot here today. But as I am cooking a lamb hot pot for Cameron and had extra lamb, thought i may as well cook it up for us too. Think Cam's dinner is ready...better go mush.
Bye for now
-
well yesterday i changed her bottles slightly instead of her last bottle at 7pm i gave her a half bottle at 6 then gave ehr some finger food while we were eating then bath at 730, massage, sleeping bag on then bottle at 8 and she went to sleep while having bottle and stayed alseep didnt even wake when i put her int he cot. hopefully t his wasnt just a fluke.
i was reading this thing yesterday saying that from 7 to 9 motnhs they shoudl be on 3 bottles a day does this seem like too little?
-
Sass- Fingers crossed its a new start for you... I think 3 sound to little but hey everybaby is different...
Bit of a downer today... we've been having BF issues... with this 38-40 degree heat my supply had dissapeared... I'm drinking 3-4 litres of water a day and peeing like crazy but its not having any effect on supply... i think the no night feeding is resulting in no production.... yesterday i put her on and she had few sucks and was pulling teh nipple in her mouth ets... i tried to squeeze some out but nothing... i tried for bout 40 mins (20 mins each side) in the end she got so cranky i ended up feeling pretty miserable so i gave her a bottle... She downed 100 mls in like 2 sec so i made anothe 100 mls and she drank all but about 10 mls... poor little bubs is so hungry cos she obviously isnt getting much if not any... i tried for every feed after that and same thing.. this morning, after all the water i had yesterday and a few times i got up to use the pump as extra stimulation (with no results) she had a bit but after 2 mins same thing so i switched sides she fed for few minuted then same thing trying to squeeze my boob and pulling the nipple with her mouth and after 3 bites i gave in to a bottle... My boobs just arent filling up at all... its sad to say but i think BF is almost over... so a very sad day... Not sure if the excercising and diet have made it happen quicker theni expected (which is why i put it off so long i t happened with my DS)
But on a better note... DD slept from 9.30 -6 this morning... YAY.... also went for a good walk this morning with the kids still sick but not feeling sorry for myself...
Bec- your routine sounds great... wish we had a regular routine... would make things easier...
well best be off the house wont clean itself...
-
We had the night from hell last night, poor hamish it was just so out of character for him i think i am still in shock. I gave him his bottle at 7.30 as usual then he had a little play and was in bed around 8.15 then woke at 9pm screaming and didnt stop until 3 am.
He was sneezing alot yesterday but i thought it was just the change in weather etc as i get hayfever and thats what happens to me, but i think it might be start of a cold. He just wouldnt settle for me and Dp tried a few times but still no sleep, i got him to sleep in pram about 1am but he only stayed asleep around 15mins so i resorted to taking him for a drive in the car at 3am he was asleep before we reached the end of the street. Arrived home and he stayed asleep while i put him to bed but then woke again at 5.15 then i settled him with a bit of a feed but he didnt have alot because he could not breathe properly and was getting distressed. He then slept until 8 and Dp gave him formula as he wouldnt drink from me. I think it maybe his top teeth but not sure if he is getting sick, never have i heard him cry in so much pain, even with nurofen, panadol and sm33 he had no relief. I am just hoping he can sleep alot during today to get some rest and hopefully shake whatever is wrong. Dp has taken the morning off work to help and i tried to have a sleep but as usual i cant seem to sleep during the day.
Sass - glad jayda slept well for you, fongers crossed the new routine works for you. I think maybe 3 bottles is not enough either, hamish has 4 feeds atm.
Jess - i know how you feel with supply issues, i am thinking my feeding days are over, hamish would much prefer a bottle now and i think it is because i simply have no supply left, i am happy i have got this far though as i only fed dd for 6 weeks so it is a vast improvement.
Bec - our routine is similiar to yours but if we are out and about it is often out of whack, but usually with the exception of last night things work well.
-
Oh Abbie that sounds aweful... Hope you and hamish can get some rest in... Poor little guy... Poor you and DP aswell... Hopefuly he's not getting sick and its just teething
Also i'm happy i got to 6 months let alone 7... I just LOVE it so much and the bonding, closeness and well the fact that it has to be me feeding her... I makes you feel good knowing you are making your baby grow...
-
Hi ladies
Abb sorry to hear about hamish's bad night last night :-( Hopefully he sleeps well today to make up for last night. Poor little man. Abbie still only has two teeth and it does not even look like anymore are coming.
Jess i am glad that tiahna is sleeping well for you it must make it a bit easier cause you are sick. And on the BF you have done such a great job to get this far along, well done and don't be to dissapointed you have done so well. Hope you feel better soon! on the teeth thing my boys had more then four at this age, to me abbie is slow cause she only has two!! They are all different and its better to get them over and done with i think:D
Sassy it does sound to little amount of bottles, but like others have said every baby is different, abbie has between 4 to 6 bottles a day just depending. I just take it as it cmes cause she is not going to drink it if she des not want it. ALthough she does have the habit of only drinking half which is frustrating.
Bec no i have not given abbie cows milk yet, but saying that she does sit in her high chair at dinner time and i will give her some of my mashed potato which has cows milk in it but she does not have alot.
Oh my goodness there are soooo many posts here to catch up on! Sorry if i have missed anyone i will try and get back daily so that i don't have as much to catch up on:doh:
Take care
Nikki

Thanks Jess and Nikki he has been asleep now for 3 hours and still sound asleep, poor bubba must be exhausted. I hope he wakes my happy little man and not the grumpy screaming boy i had last night..
-
yeah i think 3 is too little as well but it is a min amount. i was just looking for things of when to cut them down. like when they r 1yo they usually r on cows milk or just starting and from wat i have read and people i know they only have like one in mornign and one at night kinda thing. so i am thinkin that u wouldnt cut out 2 to 3 bottles srtaight away i thought u would slowly cut one out every few months?
so at the mo jayda is having 4 bottles once water and formula r in it makes up to 240mls and she usually always leaves 60mls so she is having 180 x4.
Does any of this make sense. i have asked int eh solids/bf/formula section but the answers were do watu think. i know every baby is dif but i would like a rough idea.
last time i went to baby clinic our normal guy was on hols and this lady there told me to have jayda down to 3 bottles by 8 months 2 by 10 months and 1 by 1year but this really didnt sound right ot me.
-
Sass i looked it up for you and they say
3-4 bottles (200ml water + formula) some formula is different amount i suppose a day for 6 - 8 months then
2-3 bottles (200ml water + formula)8-10 months and then
1-2 bottles (200ml water + formula) for 10-12months.
In me saying earlier 3 bottles doesnt sound enough Hamish has had only 3 bottles today 200ml + formula he drank every last drop. This is his first day on just formula and he slept for 3 1/2 half hours this morning so only had a bottle when he woke and one about 2pm and then one 7.30pm.
Yes i have put him on bottle i am a little sad about it but i have to be proud of getting this far as i never imagines i would be able to achieve 3 months let alone 7.
Hamish has been sound asleep since 8pm now so i am hoping he will be in for the night, i think i will try head to bed shortly myself as with only 3 hours last night i am exhausted.
-
Abb- dont be sad... i was feeling down all day today and as a result have kinds blown my healthy eating plan (although did get the excercise part right) wtching MY booby monster devour bottle today really upset me... No fussing about taking them anymore... i should be happy cos it was a challange but i just felt like i let the team down... But she too had been sleeping better so i know she's getting what she needs finally... you should be proud... as am i but it is hard to get around it... Mum guilt is bad...
The way i see it is bubs lets you know what they want... the studies show now that the toddler milk is better for babies now then cows milk so i dont see the need to CUT milk down if bubs doesnt want too... all babies do things when they are ready.... JMO...
DD certainly lets me know when she wants solids now... she starts to say YUM MUM MMMMUM kinda and she smaks her lips together and gets a bit angry if you dont get it for her or at least mention it...
I think once they start to want more solid food that there milk want and need will drop... its been hot here again but DD wont drink water... (think she's used to booby milk in that respect) so today she had kinda booby feed on wake up, 100 ml bottle then about 70 mls after that (so total of 170 mls) then 150 mils at about 11- slept for 2 hours played for an hour had solid played 1/2 hour and the another 150 mls at about 2.45 and asleep by 3 then woke up at 4.30 played then 5.20 solid little play then bath then play another bottle 160 mls then she wanted booby- she was very persistant at grabbbing and pulling down my top gave me a hicky on my boob tryiong to find the nipple...lol.. she fed (not sure how much she got but was on for bout 5 mins then bed... So i'm up all alone and am bored so i'm off to clean something else... just did the bathroom might clean out the linnen cupboard... nite ladies
-
yeah i am only worried cause she doesnt drink much water. she wants way more solids lately.
still no teeth.
jess: how long is ur hubby away for at a time?
abb: that is the info i seen.

Hi All,
Abb - How's Hamish today/last night? I hope is feeling better. Cameron was like that the other month when he got sick...he seemed to sneeze alot the day before, then during the night he woke up screaming and you could hear he had a sore throat. Poor little bubba's...it's very upsetting when they are sick and there is not much you can do for them.
Nikki - Yeah, we are all a bunch of chatter boxes in here . I realised the only way to keep on top of it all was to 'try' to log on daily. Cameron's still only got the 2 teeth, but I'm thinking the next 1 is on its way. Not sure where though, but he is gnawing big time on the left side of his gums and the rosy cheeks have returned.
Sassy - It doesn't seem enough as 3 milks at this stage to me. Especially if she's not drinking all the bottle each time. I think my friend did the 4 til about 9 months, even though her chn kept telling her to cut it down from about 7months. And at 12months I would've thought they would have 2 milks a day (morning and arvo/night)...especially as DH and I love our milk, I think Cam would probably end up being the same. How's that new routine going, was it a fluke or did it work again last night.
Jess - Our routine did take a few days to make it work and adjust. It does make life alot easier, I can plan when to do house work and get on here!!! And instead of feeling disappointed your bfeeding days are almost over, maybe look at it as 'wow' I can't believe I made it this far. One of my new years resolutions is to be a glass half full person (not that i wasn't before, but I know I could do better). Good on you for doing housework when your bored...I probably should have done more housework myself instead of being on here
Was just wondering how MisTree's doing... Are any of you's till in contact with MisTree - how's her little Stanky?
Well not much happening here. Mum's holiday away is over, so we are back to our regular Wednesday Nana Day. She was so amazed of how much Cameron has grown and learnt. We pretty much stayed at home, as this way she got lots of cuddles. In the arvo we went for a big walk (our area is very, very hilly). I got my local streets all mixed up, so we went a little further then expected, but felt better for it (my body disagreed though little achy this morning). Will try to do is again this arvo (if it stops raining...just finished pouring here a moment ago).
I gave Cameron some cow's milk in his cereal this morning. So far so good. All going well I would like to introduce some grated cheese in his vegies in the next few days. As I think I'd like to start giving him some of our leftovers, as he's pretty much had most of what we eat now.
Well that's all from me for now. Cam's almost due to wake.
Bye for now,
-
Jess its hard not be upset but yes i am proud and Hamish had a breatfeed this morning he woke up but i have just given him a bottle now as he refused breast and just screamed so i made a bottle and he drank the lot 200ml.
Sass i go to mchn next week so i will ask but i think i would just go with your gut, Hamish drinks alot of water, probably around 50ml after each solid feed, have you tried giving it to jayda in a sippy cup?
Bec hamish slept well last night woke at 7 this morning, i put a tri pillow in his cot to elevate him, i know its probably not ideal for safety reasons etc but he seemed to be able to breath easier and i slept in his room so i was able to check a few times during noght anyway. I used cows milk also in Hamish' cereal this morning and in his custard yesterday. I am going to try cheese next week, he seems to get a bit chucky with yoghurt so i have stopped giving it to him.
I have been in contact a bit with Mis tree on facebook but not for a week or so, stak had a reaction to egg they think, someone gave him a spoon of pavlova on christmas day and he ended up in hospital but he is ok now.
I best go do some housework while hamish is sleeping, i have work tonight and am not organised at all.
