Babies Born May 1st ~ 15th 2009

Teagz - hehe ur welcome to pop in whenever u like! There is so much to learn, this is my 3rd and I'm still learning. Thats why a group like this is so great, the various range of experience combined with various lifestyles and different baby personalities means we all have stuff to share and learn from eachother. ;)

BK - hope last night with ur brother went ok.

Candice - I'm in ur world. Took hours to settle Ethan for sleep last night. Finally got him down at 11.30 and he woke up at 3 then again at 5 and didn't settle again till 8 thismorning! Poor bub has really bad wind. He's real unsettled today too. Wont even let me put him in the swing for longer than 10 mins. He wont go down for a nap so I cant catch up on sleep I missed last night and my sister is coming over soon. :doh: oh well I guess my sister wont care if I look like a hobo today.lol

We got some parcels from my mil and sil yesterday. So many cute things! :D so I made a card and put Ethan's hand print with blue waterbased paint inside and wrote thank you for my gifts nanna, lots of love from Ethan. She'll love it! :heartbeat: it was so tricky doing the hand print he kept clenching his little fist, and I had to wipe it off as soon as I'd stamped his hand so paint didn't go everywhere. Lol hence why I did it while he was sleeping. ;)

Tatt, it's so great your first birth experience was a good one!
I woudn't feel to bummed about the morphine for the dislocated coxic bone. If someone went in with a dislocated shoulder they would give them morphine as well

tatt - u did so well. Shame about the coxic u poor thing. Must have been a hell of a push! Lol take the pain killers, get as much rest as u can. I'll post ur pics tonight. Ur baby Jade is absolutly adorable! I'm so happy for u!

I'm wishing everyone came to visit me in hospital instead of at home. I really cant be bothered getting dressed and doing make-up some days and the way Ethan has been the past few days and nights I haven't had much sleep and no time to do anything. I was going well yesterday morning, got heaps done during his nap but that was his last big sleep, he's been restless eversince and I'm wishing I'd used that time to sleep myself. :doh:

Xanthe just went to sleep after 5.5 hours awake! Wow mummy is tired. Breastfeeding was tough for a few days there, left nipple is red raw and damaged but I think we made progress today. Feeding from the right is like a dream, and if we can get the left as good as the right, I think I could bf until she goes to college :lol:.

Dee I hear ya on wishing people visited at hospital instead of at home, now I am pressured to have a clean house, get out of my pyjamas and have a shower, ugh! Hope you catch up on your sleep soon.

Nat - don't be in a big hurry to update the list, I think we are all tired and preoccupied looking after our newborns!

NellNell - how is your little boy? He was born small :). Hope he is feeding and sleeping well for you.

Teagz - please keep stalking, it gives me a licence to stalk you when your second one arrives. I've been thinking of you lately :hug: I hope that the little miracle inside you is keeping you strong. Are you going to find out if Jayvan is going to have a little brother or sister?

Yeah we'll find out what we're having. DF wants to know and he's horrible at keeping surprises. So even if I didn't want to know, I'd end up knowing anyway! :doh:

I'm sooo annoyed! My sister kept texting me saying be there in hour, be there in half hour then a text saying can I come tomorrow? Urgh i already told her we had no sleep last night and Ethan has been unsettled all day. Made me get out of my pjs, put on makeup, tidy house for nothing! I could have been napping all day! I hate it when ppl dont think!
I also have a friend who wants to visit after work tomorrow, i understand she works during the day, but we have to time our dinner around Ethans feeds and sleeps. I'm a bit over it! :(

Candice - hope ur nipple recovers fast. I found these nipple pads by rite aid. They're gel and stick to ur nipple u can keep them in the fridge. I used them for the first few days and they were great! My nipples are fine now!

I'm still here - just getting used to my new life as mummy. So far it's been good with the exception of the nights! Last night Mitchell was awake from 1am to 6am. DH and I took turns but we were both knackered by morning.
He is currently being settled by DH and if he sleeps then so will I.

Dee - how annoying about your sister! Very frustrating. Can you say to her that YOU are availably ONLY between such and such hours? Some people just don't get it do they?

Stil in hossy but coxic is much better I will be going hm this arvo with scripts for voltaren and tramel (sp?) for the pain. My bbs must be getting milk they are rock hard and killing me ! And pretty grazed but she attaches well so just getting used to BF I spose...
Jade was pretty unsettled yesterday think cause day 1 she got the morphine from me and now its worn off...she fed every 3 or so hrs but refused to settle in crib so slept on me all day, then last nite she fed at midnight, 2am and 5am and slept in between each...I've never been so gratful for 5 hrs sleep!

She is just so beautiful and DP is being great, I can tell he's stressed without me around!! He said the house is chaos but he will vac before I get hm!!

Hope everyone is going well im gonna try get 1 more hrs slep before she wakes!

Tatt Mama - Amelia was exactly the same. She would only sleep against my chest... specificly with her head against my heart... hence why I got the Mommy Bear this time! (the one with the womb sounds)
Philly loves his, although the last two nights he seems to wake up at 4am with a windy lower tummy and the only thing to settle him os to sleep in the big bed right next to me.... DH is not impressed. I told him to suck eggs this morning tho. Pip is my last little baby and I wanna enjoy as many cuddles with him as I can. If he doesn't like it, he can bunk on the spare bed :nahnah:
And you're so right about sleep. These last two nights Pip slept in 3 hour blocks... bliss!!!

Dee - I hear you! I have to keep my place spotless all the time since all the Aunties didn't visit me in the hospital. I saw most of them at a wedding last Sunday and they said they wanted to visit one day this week. So I don't even have a day let alone a time frame! They all got to see him, but I think they want to come round for a cuddle and to drop of gifts, which is sweet, but I would rather not having to mop every morning!
Also I stole your card idea! Its great!!! I'm making them this morning before Phillips bath. I'm gonna to make a spare lot for his baby album too :D

Oscar - Ouchity ouch - you poor girl. Have you tried using a nipple shield? I had to use them with Mia and they worked a treat. You can get them from the chemist or even Target have the Medela ones.
In the mean time I hope it heals fast for you :heartbeat:

Oh to all the ladies - Can you please all write how much your babies weighed in pounds and ounces at the end of your posts and then I can change the baby list to lbs rather then grams. I realised yesterday that the converter I was using wasn't correctly converting the ounces... it was doing 7.5 pounds rather then 7 lbs 5 ounces (if you know what I mean) so that's why some of the weights are incorrect. I'll sould have it sorted out asap - cheers.

Just a quick post from me today, I have come done with a cold so that plus lack of sleep isn't great. Jack has still been a good baby, he gets unsettled at night, normally starts about 8pm and he won't settle til midnight but thats OK he is getting there.

TMTM, I wish someone would teach Jack to stop pooing at night, he still poos like a trooper.

hi all am home today! we ended up with another emergency cs but was still an awesome birth. details later typing with one hand and feeding Sophia - who is divinely gorgeous! boobs good, wound good, Jake is loving being a big brother!

Congrats Emma on Jade's arrival and a great labour!

Nat: Jade Freya Arbon born 1.12am mon 18th may, weighing 3.6kg or 7pd 15 oz (big girl!!)

Poor bubba has a spotty rash on her chest, looks like pimples and is spreading so paed is gonna go check her, but lots of wet nappies so even though her attachment is bad she must be getting something!

Nat - Mitchell was 9 pounds 14 ounces or 4455g. I am also co-sleeping. Didn't think I would but it started at the hossy and hasn't stopped. Luckily though DH kind of enjoys it too. He worried at first but he is relaxed about it now. Mitchell will go to his cot in the day - but refuses it at night - hopefully this will change :crossfingers:

TM - hope Jades rash improves - I'm sure it will turn out to be nothing

AFM - we got a rocker / virating chair yesterday. THANK GOD!!! I've just has two hours of screaming in my ear with nothing wrong! Fed, clean etc - def over tired but wouldn't settle. However DH has got him to sleep in his chair just now! So he is next to me and I am typing with two hands for the first time in two weeks - but I am in the dark! Was going to write more but he's waking!!! *&^^% That was only a 45 mins sleep!!!

:hug: I feel your pain. Xanthe has only had one sleep of more than an hour since midnight. She has slept a few times for 30-45 minutes, but that is it. :wall:

Roses - Yeah last night I kept him in the cot.... but I did take extra long feeding him and snuggleing him in the lounge room :heartbeat:

I have resorted to giving him a bottle of Bellamys formula at his 9pm feed since I seem to be completely out of milk by that time. I have been taking Fenegreek, but still I'm exhausted by then and just have nothing left :(
I'm seeing the Drs today about taking Motilium again to increase supple, but to be really honest, that night time bottle means he sleeps from 9pm til 1 am and then I have tonnes of milk for a big feed, then he sleeps til about 4:40am.... its awesome!

Anyway he's just woken up so I had better run - xox

I tried to post several times yesteday but the world was against me.

Just a quick one frm me...

Ethan has been getting really bad wind so I got him some Brauer Colic Relief, since that is the only one that can be given to a baby under 4 wks I could find and it worked wonders. Within half hour he was farting like a fat man on beans... lol
But still last night he was waking every hour - hour and a half... I'm exhausted!! Poor DH is getting a cold, has no sleep and in his first week of his new job.
I ended bringing Ethan to bed with me the other night, DH was so paranoid something would happen to him so we bought a co-sleeper bed to put between us. It's fantastic! it has a little night light and anti roll pillows and a barrier around it. We figured we can put it in his cot when he goes to his own room too so it was worth the $50.
He only seems to sleep well either on me or in his swing during the day tho, so I set aside a good 3-4 hrs a day to cuddle him to stop him gettin over tired and restless from his 15 min naps...

Sorry for no persies, seriously sleep deprived! Hope everyone is doing well :D

urgghh am reacquainting myself with serious sleep deprivation - but sounds like most are in same book lol. Darren has just taken Jake and Sophia for a walk so I am going to have a half hour kip. Wish he didn't have to go back to work!
