Darcy was a cow and wouldn't do what they wanted cos they laid her on her back and she thinks that means she has to go to sleep....so she cried - then they wanted her to smile....oh well. Katy was great though.
Again Leanne I'm so so proud of you. Congratulations!
Nup no sleep awake again for three hours overnight.....I'm not stressed, i'm just over it.
Can't wait to hear about your uni results Nat, and Congratulations Karen on getting your course Karen if you read this....

CONGRATULATIONS LEANNE!!!
Hi Everyone......I really miss being able to get on all the time I have missed so much!!! I am home for lunch ATM and Jayden is at SIL#3's so its a nice quiet lunch today. I have spent most of my lunch break reading through all the posts I have missed but I can't keep up with it all hahaha
I have a rotten cold ATM Jayden has it too but not as bad thank god!!! I think I am on the mend though. Jayden has taken a few crawling steps but is more interested in walking. He grabs my hands pulls himself up and starts putting one foot in front of the other!!! I keep telling him he has to crawl first haha.
We are heading off to Melb in a couple of weeks for a friends wedding, Jayden and I will be there for 2.5weeks and chris will be there just for the wedding. I am buying Jayden a little suit next week....I can't wait it is so so cute!!!
Jayden's last weigh in was 8.98kg but they didn't measure his length though. Sheree and Lachie are doing well, he is eating much better than he was....still could be better but Sheree is gratefull for what he is eating now. They are in the process of moving now so I don't think she will be on for quite a while.
Ooops gotta be back at work in 8mins

HI tania good to hear from you say hi to sheree for me and wish them well for the move
i'll bbl for more of a catch up
-
Not getting my new car :frown:
-
Why Kim, what happened???
-
Do we know if Sheree got her ring???
-
No we don't, wonder if she did.
-
Ah cos DH's dreams are too big and he has no dealing with our money and so has no clue.....
I hope she got her ring, but I'm sure Tanya would have remembered to tell us something that exciting.
:happyforyou: I didn't have to get up to Darcy until 4.30 this morning! I know she won't do it for weeks again, but never mind. Of course though I'm an insomniac and couldn't sleep well anyway....Shazz I have sorted out how I feel about Tresillian and I have decided I'm not going. I saw it more as a social services visit and I have that under control now. So thanks. You really helped.
-
Poor Kim, I know that feeling, we are forever juggling money and robbing Peter to pay Paul but DH has everyting he's ever wanted for his motorcycle!
Riley had another cr@p nights sleep, waking every 2 hours. I am fed up with life this week.
-
Wtg to go Darcy hopefully she has decided to be nice in the sleeping department for a while you need to get some sleep some how Kim i suffer from insomnia as well and it sucks i spent hours up last night just listening to Ryan sighing over the monitor ( some days i think these monitors should be banned for sanity sake )
-
I've been very good and weaned myself when I'm upstairs, but we can't hear her downstairs so I have no choice....I do totally agree though.
Christine poor love....if you ever need anything, I'm pretty sure I live close to you - send me an email eh?
-
Thanks Kim, I think I live a fair way away though, we met friends in Windsor cause its half way for both lots of people. Are you out near Penrith somewhere?
Isn't it hot today? Went to visit my brother, sil and niece this morning, got to cuddle the baby for ages- she is 3 wks today! Can't believe how tiny she looks compared to Riley!
-
Yep that's right.
Three weeksalready! Yesisn't hot? We've gotboth our ac on and doesn'tfeel likethey're doing much...
My space bar isn'tworking today...can you tell? LOL
-
Righto, who can remember the rest of the words to "Miss Polly had a dolly"?
I can only remember up to "The doctor came with his bag and his hat and he knocked on the door with a ratatattat". It's driving me crazy!!!!
-
Miss polly had a dolly who was sick sick sick so she called for the doctor to come quick quick quick, the doctor came with his bag and his hat and he knocked on the door with a rat atat tat. he looked at the dolly and he shook his head, he said miss polly put her straight to bed, he wrote on a paper for a pill pill pill, I'll be back in the morning with a bill bill bill.
Sorry about bad punctuation!!!

Hey Girls.
I didn’t get into Midwifery which is sad but alright LOL. Whats more annoying is that my other preferences were stuffed up – my own fault though!! So I got into Bachelor of Education but I’m waiting to see if I get offered Nursing in the second round offers in February. So now more waiting, waiting, waiting!!! Onlyjust over 2 weeks though which isn’t bad!
Kim YAY for having a good nights sleep through! Buggar for not getting your new car! I’m glad that Shazz was around to talk to you that day hun. I hope you’re feeling better. Haha at your space bar not working!!
Christine I hope Riley starts sleeping better for you.
Tania Great to hear from you! Lucky you having lunch at home as well! Enjoy Melbourne – sounds as though you’re gonna have a great time. Take photos so we can have a squizz of Jayden in his little suit! Say hi to Sheree for me!!
Shazz I never use my monitor anymore. Em is the loudest sleeper and I could never sleep with it on! That was the main reason he went into his nursery so quick as well. He kept me up all night in my room LOL.
I could only remember half of the song lol and while I was trying to remember the rest Christine popped in. Then it just occurred to me that I should have googled it!!!
Have I mentioned that I’m going away this weekend? I can’t remember if I have. It s a Mums weekend away minus the kids and there are 16 of us!! Its gonna be so much fun - I can’t wait. So tomorrow I’m doing my shopping and then shopping for the weekend. And Friday will be packing and then we leave!!! Hmmm Em has gone quiet – that is never good.
Will BBL.
-
bugger Nat about no getting midwifery can you possibly apply for that again ? i don't really know how it all works just yet i'm going to look into going to UNI next year i have to get my healthh in check before i can do to much
-
Well hopefully I will get into Nursing and I can either do a 3 year nursing degree and then a year post graduate for midwifery. Or hopefully I'll be able to one year nursing and then 3 years midwifery. Either way it'll be a double degree. I just would prefer to major in midwifery. I just have to wait and see I guess!!
-
fingers crossed for you Nat how did you go with your Stat 's you prolly posted about it but i can't remember
-
STAT results are confusing - overall I got a score of 165 and I was in the top 11%. I've been told that's really good. But I honestly have NFI LOL!
I scored high enough to get into a course with a higher TER then nursing so hopefully I get offered it in the second round.
I'm still kicking myself for stuffing up my preferences and making this process so much more stressful!

solids
hello everyone,
My son Billy turned 8 months on Jan 9... I was wandering if anyone could recommend a good book or website for solids...I started Billy on solids at 6 months and he has liked most of it, I bought a mumi and bubi kit and have been using this to make up and freeeze his food...at the moment I'm a bit confused as to how lumpy his food should be and I guess i'm just getting a bit confused in general about what I should be offering him and how often..I have read of parents giving their child cheese and others vegemite on bread at 8 months...If anyone has any info I would greatly appreciate it..
Angela:confused:
-
Hi Angela, I got some brouchures from the clinic about solids and also the nurse who does baby weighing etc up at Soul PattinsonHornsby on a Wednesday. I make Riley's very smooth still but then again he has no teeth! I have given him bread/ toast but he mostly just plays with it.
-
Hi Ang welcome!
Another May 9 baby? That makes 5!
If you look in the cooking/recipe forums on this site they have a baby food suggestion thread. I tried them and Darcy eats like a trooper now. I give her toast with nothing on it (hey she doesn't know it's missing something ), cooked apple, banana whole (on the kitchen floor - gives me an expcuse to have to wash it), cheese. Stuff I know she can mange. Darcy's stuff is rarely smooth, I gave her tinned spagetti mashed with a fork the other day. She's very good and chews quite well despite no teeth. She has risotto not even mashed. Maybe i'm a bit slack, but I wouldn't do it if she couldn't deal with it....she can chew paper....gross really.oops better get ready for swimming....
-
How amazing we have 5 babies born on the same day! Kim I might try Riley on some less pureed stuff, after all he eats paper too!(and some grass the other day I realised when I changed his nappy!!)
Lea- great results, I hope you get in on the 2nd round offers although as a teacher I have to say teaching is pretty good too lol.
-
morning all
welome angela
i have had NO sleep at all
ryan was up all night throwing up violently poor little bugger there is a stomach bug going around which obvisously some one decided to pass pn to us so yay bloody yay off the doc this afternoon
-
Far out Shazz. Poor Ryan
Nat I meant to type to you this morning too...I'm glad you got a good score, and really hope you get what you want in the second round.
Christine isn't it amazing what comes out....you can still read some of it
-
Welcome Ang...
I've tried to make Shauns food a bit lumpier... For his sweet stuff I just mash a banana into it.
For savoury meals I had some tiny pasta from a deli - it's REALLY tiny (smaller than rice). That mixes in with his meals well. I also bought some rissolli (?) pasta at the supermarket which was the tiniest pasta they had on the shelf.
I give him toast in fingers with crusts cut off. My hubby hand fed him his roast meal last week... lamb, chicken, peas, carrot, potato. He probably wouldn't eat that if it wasn't hand fed to him though ;)
A great site which shows pictures of the quantity and consistancy of food is ... can't give a link... so go to google and type Children's hospital at Westmead. Then hit the Parents tab at the top... then the fact sheets on the left. At the bottom of that fact sheet is FOOD... This information was given to me by the sleep school as I was confused about what to feed Shaun.
Lea... good luck with 2nd chance offers.
Shazz... I hope Ryan improves. It's horrible when our little babies are sick...
-
Hey Jodie, did you have any power probs this week?
-
Shazz Poor little Ryan. I hope he's feeling better soon!!!
Welcome Ange!!! I cheat with consistencies and I will buy the store bought stuff to test Em on. And then if he copes well I will make my own to that consistency IYKWIM. Em has risotto, spaghetti etc - just mushed. I also offer him finger foods - he has vegimite on toast (cut into fingers), watermelon, cucumber sticks, pieces of roast meat - that's all I can remember right now. He doesn't have teeth yet so he doesn't eat the finger foods as much as suck and spit them out LOL.
Jodie Great advice re solids. I'm going to look for that pasta now!
Kim LOL @ Darcy chewing paper. Em's favourite thing is tissues - yeww!! Have fun at swimming!
Christine I would be happy to be a teacher hence the reason I applied. But I would prefer to be a midwife despite the shift work hehe!! So I'm just leaving it in the hands of fate. What is meant to be will be!
Thanks for all the well wishes girls!! Just thought I'd pop in before I rush off for the day. Lots of shopping to be done and cleaning! I have 6 loads of washing  . We were so worried it was going to be a stinker for our weekend away... instead rain has been forecast!! And I was going to work on my tan LOL!! I'm just in the middle of making my shopping list so I suppose I better get back to it.
BFN!!
-
No problems with our power.... although I know some friends & family who lost theirs. It would be a real pain to have no power for hours on end... especially in the heat we've been having... makes for a romantic evening though.... candles, bath.... MMmmm... maybe I should go an pull out one of our fuses ;)
-
Yay!!! I just phoned Target. They have a baby special on - and they have a hands free safety gate that is normally $89.99.. and it's been marked down to $53.99. There was no rainchecks... so I phoned the store first and they have one which they will put aside for me. But the bonus is that I've got one of those $10 off if you spend $50 at Target - so extra bonus!! - I will get the gate for $43.99 !!!! That will be more than 50% off. I'm so happy about that.
We have a safety gate up... but it's on a weird angle which really annoys my hubby.
And I'm intrigued to find out how you can have a 'hands free' safety gate... will be handy! Actually... I'm just thinking... I've got two $10 vouchers... maybe I will get my mum to go and buy another gate...
-
That is a great way to look at it Jodie!!! I bet the people without power wouldn't be thinking that way though!! And that is a fantastic bargain!!! I have some of those Target vouchers but I haven't had anything to use them on yet!!
I'd be so bored without power!! Though it would give me a chance to catch up on some reading!!
-
Good news Jodie....maybe I'll go and redeem my thingy and get the baby bag so I can get one.....
Don't you hate it when you're cutting out a pattern, and you're a bit generous - and you end up short of material??!?!?! have to go to spotlight now....
-
Arghh Kim how frustrating.
Em is asleep and I feel like a nap with him... I'm so so tired!!
Pity I have to put away the shopping hey?
-
Yes very and they had run out of the colour I needed, so we'll just have to have a bit of hodgepodge - lucky it's only a shopping trolley cover.....
I gave Darcy tinned veges today for the first time. I wanted to see how she'd go with them now she eats a bit more - how bad do they smell??? Gross. Only using them for emergencies I think.
Uh oh, Darcy's started cruising - walking around the furniture.
-
Are you making a shopping trolley cover?? That is so cool!! I want to get one of them. I think they're about $30 to buy?
I'm not a huge fan of the tinned stuff. I do buy some of the jarred food like Beef & Plum, Butter Chicken and stuff like that - they taste alright and I use them when I go out. It saves having to keep my home made stuff cool.
Em has this talking teddy and he loves it. He lays there and just cuddles it and kisses it. Its so cute. I wish I could take a video of it for you all to see.
Its so bloody hot and humid here. I decided that I don't like humid LOL. I swear that's why I've got a headache!!!
-
I've only seen them for about $60 Nat, that's why I'm making one....the germophobe in me can't cope much longer without one. Spotlight have some material for $1/metre, so it works out about $6 all up, but I'll make mine before I offer to make you one - just incase it turns out crappy.
That's why I wanted to try her on it. When I did initially she hated it, but we're going to Tassie in March and I figure I can't take my own.
I ask lots of dumb questions - so here's another.
Went to Target today cos of the sale, but can't figure out what size winter stuff to buy. She's only about 7.6kg and has been for ages. 0 are up to 10kg and about 78cm and 1 to 12kg and 84cm. She's currently a 0 length wise but is still only tiny....I have no idea.
-
oh forgot to say happy eight month Emmerson and happy 9th month Ryan ( :( his not a baby anymore )
