Thanks Kim - that's one of Em's first smiles that I managed to catch on camera!! Add me in on the in law book as well - though I'm at the other end of the spectrum! DP's parents have never even met me... don't want to either.

Shazz ~ Glad to hear you got some time to yourself. It must have been nice even though it was probably just as nice to get back to him!!! I'm sure you will be fine taking the other kids to the movies - you will probably be too busy to miss him too much. What are you going to see?

Well I had another busy day again. Got and up and got ready - did some washing and cleaning and then visited my sister and her little man. He's just over 2 weeks and boy did he make Em look big and tubby hehe!! We got some cute photo's of them together. which was great. Then I came home and did some cooking and then went to a Jewellery Journey party at a friends where I bought a nice watch and necklace even though I didn't need it...

Just off to catch up with some posts. I have a bust start to the week tomorrow so I have to get some sleep to be prepared for that!

ETA - I missed your post Mummy! Everyone including my own family says that Em looks like DP!!! I think he's got my eyes at least LOL! There are a few pics of us together on my website if you want to have a squiz to get an idea. I think you are going to have to encourage me with my scrapbooking. I just haven't found the time yet. There's always washing and cleaning and visiting and feeding!! The little guy just always wants to feed and he takes so long - about 45 mins or longer to have 120 mls!!! Early nights... I feel good when I have them too but I don't get them very often!!!

Lea – I would be proud of organising my cupboards too! That’s quite a feat. And glad to see Em is still sleeping well. I agree –it’s not the waking up part that sucks but the not going back to sleep straight away part that’s the hard bit. Glad you enjoyed the meet up too – I checked out the QLD forum a while ago and it was pretty quiet. It’s a shame really – would love to catch up with some people in person. How’s your sister going with her little one? Does she still live with your parents?

Shazz – Wow, I’m glad you had some time to yourself on Saturday. It feels so weird when you leave them for the first time, doesn’t it? That’s so nice that you’re going to be able to take your other kids to the movies on their own too. I think when Tom has some time off from next week (a whole month!) I might take Charlie out, just the two of us, and do something special too. Yay for Ryan having a good sleep too – that’s awesome! Hope it lasts. By the way, how are you feeling at the moment?

Mummy – early nights? What are those? I can’t help myself either – I know I should go to bed earlier but I love the time to myself when the kids are asleep and I’m not needed by anyone. Good on you for getting some scrapbooking done.

Hello to everyone else too. Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Well, we went on the much anticipated “First Family Outing” yesterday to Tom’s gig at Montville. It went pretty well – as well as could be expected. Unfortunately the gig ran late (the organisers fault) and Charlie got really overtired because he missed his afternoon sleep. If it had all run on time he would have slept in the car at his usual time and it would have been fine, but as it turned out we didn’t get to leave for home until after 5. He did fall asleep but by the time we got home it was almost his bed time for the night. He woke up so cranky and upset and screamed for an hour, wouldn’t have his dinner and was inconsolable – he made himself sick he was so tired. Poor little thing. I felt like such a bad mum! Toby was fine though, which was lucky – if both of them had been like that I would have probably cracked it! Tom chucked a sickie today because I was so emotionally drained from yesterday that I didn’t think I’d be able to do it on my own today. I’m sure I’ll feel better tomorrow though, so don’t worry. Managed to get out for my first proper walk today too – no rain to jinx me! It felt so good – I’m glad I’m back on top of that again.

Anyway, must go and continue washing. Does it ever end? I reckon I’ll lose the baby weight easily just from the sheer amount of washing I have to do – I think 15 minutes of washing equates to about 1 ½ points on the WW program (does it Kim?)! Hope you’re all having a lovely Monday.

Vic- lately Bella has been really bad, getting into my lap while I'm feeding Patrick, but usually she is really good.
Lea- DH's parents have met me but have basically disowned him, he hasn't spoken to them in three weeks!

I am ****ed off with DH atm! His idea of helping me with Patrick and Bella is laying on the bed saying Bella come over here! I've asked him to take Pat, but he argues that he is busy!ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Guys does anyone have a cure for babies that don't want to be put down after 7pm for a nap? Gosh I am at my wits end. I have tried everything and I am keeping her up more in the day but still, when it comes to that time she just does not want a nap and cries!! HELPPP

Angelique I am having the same problem but it is 7am not pm. Cooper has been awake since 7:30 and eventually fell asleep at midday in the pram in the supermarket. This has been going on for a week now and I have tried everything, he just fights sleeping. The rest of the day/night he settles right away...not sure what to try next. The pram and car settles him, but its too damn cold and crazy to be walking at that time of day, especially in Melbourne.

LOL Angelique, mine won't sleep during the day until about 4 and then not much after 3am. I let her sleep whenshe finally decides to and if all else fails get into bed with her. I have been at Tresillian and all, but now I'm used to her, I let her make the rules. A Baby Bjorn has helped us immensley, and if she sleeps in that I don't care, it means she doesn't cry so much from overtiredness.

Neverplan - I put her to sleep at 7pm and she only sleeps for an hour then it is a nightmare trying to get her to wait for her 10pm feed.

Delta - at least he is like that in the morning, beats being bad at night when you are totally exhausted and cant hold the little one anymore. This is the problem I am having.

Scrappy - I have gotten into bed with her once but she keeps making noises and that stops us from sleeping. I hope it eventually get's better for you. I am keeping the faith that eventually mine will get the idea.

Lachie is like Cooper Alison. He is an alarm clock for 6 or 7am even if his last feed was 5am. Even tried putting big thick doonas over the window to disguise it as night still, but it just don't work, and then he still wants to be awake until lunch or mid afternoon. There was only once that I got him back to sleep when he woke at 7am when this just so happened to be the 3 hours that I stretch him out for a feed and he had a really really bad night (and when I say bad I will explain - 2 nights ago he was awake from 11pm to 3:30pm and I hadn't been asleep at all yet!), anyways got him back to sleep at 8am in bed with me until 9:30am which made me feel a little more sane! I was a walking mess and felt like I couldn't cope, gosh sleep is soooo important!

I guess I don't cope with the 7am wake ups (and especially seeing as he wants to be awake and play and mummy just doesn't find that amusing LOL) seeing as you have broken sleep during the night, just wish he would sleep till 8am at least!

Jess – Ggrr at DH. That’s ok, once you’re all healed you’ll have something to hold over him… nudge nudge wink wink LOL and then he might help you more! Sorry to hear that Bella isn’t taking the new situation too well. Charlie was good to start with too, but lately he’s been screaming every time Toby does, and he’s even waking up at night when Toby cries now, which he didn’t do for the first two weeks. Apparently this phase is short lived, so I’ve heard, so hopefully we don’t have to go through it for too long!

Angelique – I’m so sorry, but I don’t have any solutions for you. Have you asked a MCHN? Sometimes they’re very good at offering advice for that kind of thing. Maybe post a thread in the General Babies and Toddlers Discussion Forum – I’m sure someone there will have had experience with it. I hope you find a solution soon – let us know if you do. They do sort out a more ‘normal’ routine eventually, but I know that knowing that doesn’t really help you right at the moment. Big hugs to you.

Sounds like we have some sleeping demons to sort out in here at the moment. Maybe it’s an age things too – I know that at certain periods (like 6 weeks old, I’m told) they can go crazy for a few days while they’re going through a growth spurt. I hope that’s all it is for you guys!

I think it’s time for me to bite the bullet and find a mothers’ group. At the ‘outing’ on Sunday I had a few issues – one of the girls in the band has always been a fairly blunt person, but she was downright rude that day. There was me with my two kids and another lady with a 7 week old and this girl thought that it was an appropriate time to talk about how she didn’t really like babies. No tact at all. And I felt like she totally ignored me the entire time (we were all having lunch together) which was a shame because we usually get on really well. The way she behaved and some of the things she said made me feel like I wasn’t important now that I’m a SAHM. I think that what we are all doing is one of the most important and wonderful things that a human being can do. I suppose that I just need to start surrounding myself with people who feel the same way. It was such a bugger because I was really looking forward to having a social outing with these people and I just came away feeling frustrated.

Anyway, sorry for my little rant! I figured that you guys, of all people, would understand how I feel! I hope that you all get a bit more sleep tonight. Big hugs to you.

Ange ~ I hope you find something that works for you soon. Re settling etc. I just put Emerson down when he’s asleep or tired and he generally doesn’t fight it unless he’s too awake or hungry. If he’s too awake I just sit with him until he’s tired. I’m lucky I guess. But we don’t have set feed times or nap times or anything. During the day he’s in his rocker or on his playmate and he’ll doze on and off as he pleases. And at night we seem to be getting a good period of sleep. I just go with what he wants… I’m just lucky that so far he seems to want to sleep for an extended period of time at night LOL. If he is wanting playtime @ night I tend to put him on the other side of the bed (ah the joys of living by yourself!!) and leave the lamp on. He seems quite content to look around while I doze next to him & he eventually falls asleep! But that prob doesn’t help you all..

Well we had a pretty slack day. In saying that by the time we got up and got ready, then saw DP and another friend the day was over!! I’ve got so much to do… and I’m not getting anywhere lol. Feeling slightly panicked because I’m not organized – any one else get this?

Does any one elses bubbas tend to graze on their food? Starting giving Em a bottle about an hour ½ ago and he’s had 100mls in that time. I’ve burped him several times, changed him and tried to keep him awake and he still keeps dozing off and then will wake up after a bit wanting the bottle back. His last bottle was at about 7ish and he had 150mls then (I think). It doesn’t bother me too much as I sit on the computer and feed him and then he goes to sleep for pretty much the whole night so I don’t complain. Just wondering that’s all.

Well that’s it for me tonight – will chat tomorrow!!

Lea - wow, I don't know how you manage to do such a long post when you're feeding Em - I am no good at one handed typing. Re: the grazing thing - Toby sometimes has times where he has lots of little feeds in half an hour or so, although I think he gets what he needs in the first hit - it's just me wanting him to have more for the rest of it! I'm sure he's ok... babies are just like 'real' people IYKWIM - sometimes they're more hungry than other times. Sounds like you're doing the right things anyway.

Toby is doing well. He's a little less settled through the day today - not sure why, but he's still settling well at night. Although he had a pretty unsettled period between about 9 and 11 last night. Hope that it doesn't last! He only woke twice after that though and went straight back to sleep so I can't complain. I'm more worried about Charlie atm - he's got a fever and just when I think it's gone away it comes back. Hope he feels better soon.

Anyway, I think I hear Toby stirring so I'd better go. I'm having ANOTHER washing afternoon so I think I'll leave the 'puter on - might BBL.

My computer is left on all the time Kell LOL! I think I started that post before I started feeding so some of it was two hands but I do alot of one handed typing LMAO. I get hand cramps LOL but i'm getting quite fast! I thought it was fine/normal with Em but everyone harps on about how slow he feeds so I just thought I'd check. Other times he can finish a bottle in 15 mins flat LOL. Last night he finally went down at 12.30 and didn't wake until 8.40 so I was rapt!!!

Well I'm trying to actually get things done today and I'm doing pretty well so far. Just about to head to the shops and do a few things before coming home and tackling something on my 'To Do' list!!

I wanted to ask the 2nd and third time mums how long it takes for babies to start sleeping through the night and not needing that dreaded 3am feed anymore!! Please give me hope!!

Lea - wow, that's incredible sleeping on Em's part! I have heard that ff babies can sleep 'better' than bf babies... that's certainly a positive aspect of ff! Hope you get that to do list down to a normal size today - I wanted to get more done too but Charlie has woken up so I can't go downstairs and do any washing. What a shame! I'll regret in a day or two when we've got nothing clean to wear though...

Angelique - I wish I could wave a magic wand for you and say that bubs could sleep through from NOW! Unfortunately they're not that kind to us. I think every bub is different. The only info I can give is based on my own experience with Charlie - he was a really unsettled sleeper for ages. When he hit about 6 months I was at the end of my rope (the only way he would go to sleep at this stage was by being fed to sleep, which was really draining on me - before this he used to respond well to rocking/patting but even that started not to work). We got in a MCHN who taught us to respond to his cries, and really listen to figure out what they meant. He started sleeping much much better once we learned to read his cues, but he didn't start sleeping through the entire night until he started on solids, as he still needed a quick feed sometime early in the morning to get him through. As I said, all babies are different, and my experience has been different to the experiences of mums who ff - one bub I know of who was ff started sleeping from around 9 pm to 5 am at 6 weeks. I know it really sucks right now. No one can prepare you for sleep deprivation - did you know they use it as a form of torture in some countries? LOL All I can tell you is that it DOES GET BETTER - it can only get better, not worse, from here on in. Did you get any ideas from the other forum about bubs not settling after 7 pm? I hope you're ok - I know it's really hard. Just take one day at a time - one day this phase will seem like it happened to someone else. You can do it!

We're having freezer meals tonight. I just can't be bothered cooking. The plan is to put the kids to bed (if Toby will agree to it! LOL) and snuggle on the couch and watch House with DH. Only two more sleeps until his last day at work for a whole month! Hooray! Anyway hope you're all having a rad day.

Oh Ang, I wish those feeds away as well, but thrn I feel bad cos I know she will grow fast enough as it is. But, how slack am I? some nights when she wakes up and I'm too cold/sleepy, I pick her up and snuggle her under the doona and she goes back to sleep for an hour or so. Mean mummy!

Right now we're fighting again. She doesn't want to sleep and I want her to. This morning she did have a couple of hours in the baby bjorn, which is more than she usually has in the day time.....guess I'll be up tonight...

DH and I had a huge row today....about my nagging and his laziness. I have been starting to resent the fact that he has no clue how to interract/look after Darcy and won't listen to my suggestions and so still has no clue and then gets cranky when shecries too loud. He doesn't hear her at night and I have to get up any ways, but then gets upset when I am irritated that he's falling asleep on the lounge after work. he's also irked by the fact that I don't get anything done (Darcy's very clingy during the day) so the house looks like a bomb hit it - but are his arms broken? Apparently they are and his eyes can't see to cleam up the mess he creates, and he can only hope dinner is ready.....grrrr sorry about the rant, just a bit p'ed off. Wasn't aware my DH was such a chauvanist, cos I wouldn't know what it's like to work......

Thanks for your advice. I hope that my little one will start sleeping through at 3 months as well!! I am praying as she is formula fed and seems to be getting more hungry now that she is nearing 2 months. I know what you mean about sleep deprivation being a form of torture. It is a form of torture for me as I cant cope with less than 5 hours a night. I start to get really nutty. That is when mum comes in!!! Mine gets up at 2:30-3/3:30am for a feed then wakes at 6-7am for a feed and that has been happening for quite a while. Feeding her more milk at 10pm does not seem to help her go through more as her colic plays up at that time of the night so she jumps from the pain in her tummy all the time throughout her night sleep.

I sure hope it gets better because I am cracking under the sleep deprivation and you are right, no one no matter how hard they try can prepare you for the lack of sleep you experience day in day out.

No help about settling at 7pm from anyone. Will try and do the best I can at that time anyway. Wish me luck!!

You are not a mean mummy. I know exactly what you mean. I have katerina in another room and I am contemplating putting a single bed in there so I dont have to keep getting up 50 times. She seems to like being on her own anyway and i think it is a good habit. She is outgrowing her basinett fast. LEts wish those feeds away together!!

My husband is the same. He complains about the lack of thought gone into dinner and the state of the house all the time. HE thinks I am relaxing at home when in fact I am exhausted, sleep deprived and running around trying to make dinner, as well as trying to settle the little one hundreds of times during her sleeps. It is just not getting easier. I told my husband this will be our first and last child as he has grown to show no interest whatsoever in growing her up. It is left to myself and my mother. My mum always said that all men are the same and only 1% will get up and help. My husband seems to like watching TV more after work than putting his daughter to sleep. Lazy, lazy lazy. We have not been getting along well since we had the little one!!

Ang, sorry to hear about you and DH, but at least I'm not alone.

Well I've won this afternoon's battle (for half an hour at least). I too am having freezer dinner Kel and even if she wakes, tonight I'm going to finish my homemade vege soup - while it's hot. Even got a fresh roll to go with it. The day must be some sort of success???....
ETA- I'm pretty sure she's just in there nattering to herself, oh well there's always later.

Ang, I'm hoping Darcy likes being in her own room too. Her's is upstairs and ours is downstairs

Wow has it been busy in here today....so many posts to read.

I can't believe it Phoebe has slept through the past 2 nights. 11pm to 8am and 10.30pm until 6am. She is awake more and more during the day now, but I don't mind that as long as we all get a good nights sleep...it definately makes a difference.

Angelique - I have a fantastic book which has been my bible for both of my children...it's called Settling Your Baby, a survival guide for parents Birth to 12 Months. It is available at most hospitals and through Child and Youth Health. It has great tips on settling techniques, establishing Feed-Play-Sleep patterns (daytime) for BF and FF babies, night time wakers, ideas for coping with evening colic...etc. It really is a great little book, that has been a life saver for me. Glad that you have support from your mum. The saying is definately true, men are from mars and women are from venus....they will never fully understand.

Never - hope the kids decided to co-operate and went to bed. LOL @ the things they will do not to have to go to sleep. mmmm that sounds like a typical evening here.

Just back from a 2 week stint at my parents place in Twba. Great to have some help during the day with DD whilst I bother with DS.
Glad to hear all are well and am jealous of Lea that Em is sleeping through! My DD slept through from about now and began sleeping 13 hours a night at about 8 weeks. This little boy is somewhat different so far.

Here is my very belated effort in stats - good idea Vic.

Shannon 30, DH 33 (married 2003) Emma 16 months, Matty 6 weeks
2. how did you come up with bubs name
Best man at our wedding died last year and named Matthew after him.
3. do you have family close by
My folks live 2 hours away, sister 1and a half hours and inlaws a good 20 hours away.
4. how many kids do you plan to have
I wanted a big family - DH was happy to oblige until Poor Matty was born. Definately harder with 2 kids and dont know how anyone copes with more. I miss my sleep and have only managed to get the kids to sleep at the same time 4 times so far. Matty isnt sleeping overly well and am getting up to him about 3 times during the night and the feeds are taking about 2 hours by the time I get him off to sleep. Grrr
5. are you BF or FF
BF. Will BF for as long as I can this time. Weaned DD at 6 months to fall PG. I know it sounds selfish, but if I am not going to be allowed to have any more babies then I want to make the most of this maternal feeling.
6. do you use cloth or disposable nappies
Disposable hands down. I take my hat off to anyone who has the time for cloth
7. Occupation
Stay at home mum. I was a personal trainer in my prev life and had an Electronics trade before that. I am not interested in going back to either of these occupations at all.

DD starts swimming lessons on Sat and hope she enjoys the water as much as she did in summer. Thought I should keep the water famil up so she doesnt regress next summer.

I have noticed a few of you have had your little boys circumcised. We toyed with the idea and are still on the fence about it. We understand the medical reasons for and against but were there any personal reasons that swayed you towards it - or for that matter for those who arent getting it done - against it?

For all those who are struggling with difficult partners - Men are all the same. I agree with Vic though, give them the kids for a few hours - not just one or two as well as a list of jobs to do (make it achievable as they are men) and leave him with it. Make sure that Bubby has just woken from a big sleep first to make it really worth while. I remember I did a patchwork workshop when DD was 4 weeks old and she slept for 5 hours for my DH!!! I was so annoyed cause he thought it was really easy to look after kids. His mind has since changed and now appreciates the effort required to look after them. Still needs a bit of a reminder every now and then though - but I too get on my high horse at times expecting him to drop everthing when I want him to (a habit I really need to loose).

Any way, I dont want to go overboard with my first post back - you guys will expect it every time. My little man has finally fallen asleep across my lap and I am off to bed as it is 330 and I need sleep!

re the circumcision debate, how do you go about finding a doctor that will do it for you? The hospital where Cooper was born are against it, so it wasn't discussed. I have no idea where to begin, but Tony and I agree and would like to have Cooper done.

Hi Alison, even though the hospital is against it, they could still tell you who could do it for you. Failing that, ask your local GP, he should be able to point you in the right direction.

Re the circ debate (yes I have a girl but used to work in theatre at the kids Hospital and have done hundreds). I agree with Vic on getting it done early. No matter what it is still painful so it's best done whilst they can't remember.

Well as soon as I finished typing last night, guess who woke up. I went in and here she is totally unwrapped with all blankets kicked off! Guess those wraps are too small for security - will use a cot sheet from now on I think. She still has that dreadful newborn Morrow reflex with her arms and keeps waking herself up if not wrapped. For those of you with kids, whendid you stop wrapping them??

While I'm on the questions,, I have a few more...
When are my periods supposed to come back?
Do your nipples ever lose the awful sensitivity?
Darcy is only feeding for about five minutes each boob now. She seems to drain it OK, but that is a huge change from the hour she used to feed. Do you think she's getting enough?

Nat is Em putting on weight? Did you get him weighed?

Darcy has been with DH this moring for the first time while I went to the Docs. It doesn't count though cos he took her to see his parents and so he won't know what it's like to look after her. Was not happy leaving her though, specially as he was taking her there. I left him some things to do while I went out, but he said "How am I going to do that and look after her?" WELL DUUHH!! So of course I've done them while he's away.

This whole post natal eclampsia has turned into a saga. I have finished my tablets, but now each time I want to fall pregnant I have to have a battery of testds and monitoring. I have to have a whole heap of tests when Darcy is 6months old too. Man, the next one better be an angel in the sleep department.....I must deserve at least that....LOL

We are going away for the weekend to Griffith (6 hours away), so may be away a couple a days. Have a great weekend everyone.

Vic yes I am pretty sure that was his name Dr Russell. We couldn't find the place as it is not labelled on the front of the clinic "Circumcision Australia", only his name. It is such a shame it is such a sensitive topic, each to their own I say!

And yes for those who are asking re: circumcision, they couldn't stress enough to me how vital it was to get them done early and that when I took him was the optimal time. They say once a baby starts to get puppy fat it hurts more. Lachie wasn't too disturbed by it at all, just gave him a feed afterwards and he was fine, such a brave little boy.

Oh Vic seeing as you are the expert on this, well kinda, can you help me. I couldn't take Lachie back for his 2 week check up with them, as we live 4 hours away, but they told us that tomorrow we have to pull back the skin from the shaft???? I am so clueless with boys, can you explain in detail how I am to do this and what skin they are talking about, I think I know but I need a little reassurance. Oh and also, it all appears to have healed up nicely, but the shaft (head) is really purple, is this normal???

I use J&J products on Cooper, fortunately he has no reactions to it, I hear lots of babies do though. The lavendar one smells sooo nice. I would be happy to post money to you to cover the costs so you are not out of pocket.

Kim – I don’t think it’s mean at all to sneak Darcy into your bed and make her go back to sleep! She wouldn’t sleep if she didn’t want to, would she? They never bloody do! And it’s so nice to snuggle. Sorry DH is being a bit of a pain too. Hope you guys sort things out soon. Funny that he complains that she cries too loud and then doesn’t hear her at night… Ok, answers to your questions… we had to wean Charlie off wrapping from about 5 months. We stopped wrapping one arm, then both arms, then only wrapped his legs loosely – eventually we got him out of it. Periods can come back anytime – depends on the person. What is post-natal eclampsia? I haven’t heard of that. I hope you’re ok! I had the same problem with the J and J stuff – smells so nice but no one except Tom can use it, and boys don’t usually like that kind of stuff. I’m sure someone will be happy to take it off your hands. Have a great time away too.

Ange – sorry to hear things are tough for you at the moment. It does all get a bit overwhelming at times. Just try to grab some sleep when you can and remember it won’t last forever. If DH thinks you’re being ‘lazy’ through the day, I suggest leaving Katerina alone with him all day on the weekend sometime – I promise he’ll never question what you do through the day again!

Vic – I’m glad you’re Mrs Advice Lady too – then I don’t feel so bad! I know it must be frustrating, but Mel sounds very funny throwing things out of the cot. Bet it’s not funny to be there though! Hope you found a new computer – it’s so annoying when they don’t work.

Karen – Yay for Phoebe! Wow, I really hope that this sleeping trend continues. That book sounds really good too – might have to get it myself.

Shan – welcome back! Glad to hear that things are going well. Hope DD enjoys the swimming lessons – I really need to start taking Charlie. Will go once I get my pre-pg body back. I had just got to a stage where I felt ready to buy size 10 togs and then I got pg with Toby, so I haven’t been swimming for soooo long! Re: circumcision – we haven’t got our boys done because it doesn’t seem necessary to us. DH hasn’t been done – I suppose it’s whatever you’re used to, isn’t it? I know some people say it’s unhygienic to not have them done, but I think as long as you teach them how to wash properly it doesn’t matter. I think it’s a personal choice though, so get all the info and talk about it with DH to make up your own mind. Don’t let anyone bully you either way – it’s your decision. I suppose it’s partly a generational thing too – most boys of our generation were done but these days it seems that it’s not mandatory – anything goes.

Hello to all the lovely ladies who haven't written in today too... hope you're all enjoying your bubbas.

Not much to report. Had a lovely sleep with Toby this afternoon – bugger I don’t get to do it more often. I feel like I don’t get much time to spend doing anything nice with either of the kids at the moment but when DH starts holidays on Friday I will endeavour to have more one on one time with them. And with DH too – I feel like I haven’t been able to have a proper conversation with him for weeks! Ah, it’s all fun, isn’t it? Went for a big walk and took Charlie to the park today – it felt really good to get out of the house. It’s good to feel good again – I feel less tired and more energetic than I did when I was pg! Weird, hey?

Anyway, almost time for LOST and snuggling on the couch with DH. Have a lovely Friday, everyone.

just checking in i haven't had a chance to read any posts today but i had to share
Ryan the little darling went 8 hours ( yes you read it right ) * 8 * 8 * 8 * hours between feeds last night i bathed him at 5 pm he had a play then a feed then more playing he fell alseep at 8 pm so i put him to bed thinking he'd wake up at around 10 pm but he went through till 3.20 am feed for 15minutes and straight back to sleep and woke again at 6.30 am feed for 20 mins and straight back to sleep till 8.30 am i must say i was more brain dead today then any other day heheyhe i over slept ..... we will see what tonight brings wish me luck catch up with you all tomorrow

Hi Girls....another busy one in here today.

Kellee - yes Phoebe's sleeping trend is continuing...Yay!!! Hope you get to do a few more family things once DH is on holidays. It's nice just to have another pair of hands on deck during the day isn't it.

Shazz - Woooooow!!! Yay for Ryan, that's great. It makes things so much easier when things just fall into place. Hope it continues for you.

Scrappy - My periods returned with my son at 3mths and have yet to with my daughter...and they can stay away as long as they like. I HATE them. As for the nipple sensitivity, I can't say that I have experienced that, but I hope that disappears for you soon. It sounds like it is uncomfortable for you. My daughter use to take 1hr to feed and now she feeds alot quicker. Darcy probably is still getting enough, I agree with NEVER, she has probably perfected the art of feeding. I was a little concerned too, but Phoebe's weight gain is great so I don't worry anymore. As for the wrapping, I wrapped my son successfully for 9mths, I know it's hard to believe. He settled so well when I did it. By the time he was a few months old he could get his arms out, while he was asleep. I used the technique to help settle him, but once asleep if he unwrapped himself it didn't bother him. I am still wrapping my daughter and she loves it. I find it works really well. I use muzlin (I think that is how you spell it) wraps. They don't make babies too hot, basically for the purpose of wrapping and then using another blanket on top, unless it is summer.

Nat - where are you...perhaps I have missed your post. How did you go with the 6 week check-up. Hope it went well.

oops, I nearly forgot. Went and had my ultrasound earlier in the week. They wanted to do an internal ultrasound, but I refused. After having a C-Section I haven't regained my dignity yet and I have had enough of being poked and prodded. So they just did an external ultrasound. Went to the doctors the next day for the results and everything is fine, nothing to worry about. So I worried for nothing!!!

he did it again i got over 8 hours sleep last night but man am i sore this morning my poor Boobies are so full hope he gets hungry soon tonight i am going to do the same and see if this routine is routine that is going to fit with us and man am i going to stick to it ..

Shazz – GO RYAN! YAY! That’s awesome. What a legend. I really hope he does the same from now on! Wow, your poor bb’s! Mine would be like rockmelons after not feeding for 8 hours! I wouldn’t mind it though if it meant I was getting 8 hours sleep! Please tell us your secret! Was wondering where you’d gotten to – how are you?

Mummy – glad to see that Phoebe is still being a good little sleeper. And it’s great news that everything is fine with you. Phew! You don’t need health problems of your own when you’re looking after bubs.

Hi to everyone else to. Lea, where are you?! I get worried if you don’t post for a while, seeing as how you’re our most frequent poster.

Went for another walk and took Charlie to the park again today. Toby was able to be stretched out for a 3 hourly feed, which was good. I’m trying really hard to stretch him out – he goes between 2 ½ and 3 hours at night but sometimes only goes 2 hours through the day. I know he’s only 3 weeks old, but less than 2 hourly for me is not so good. I think it’s affecting my supply a bit, so hopefully this will make a difference. I suggested to DH that we go to his parents’ house after work today. I have an ulterior motive – if we go at this time of the day we don’t have to go for so long! If we were to go for lunch or something we’d be expected to stay all afternoon. Can’t handle too much of ILs at the moment, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing heaps of the while DH has time off. Hooray. Anyway, better go and get ready – I bet someone will wake up just as I’m about to do my hair or something! Hope you all have a lovely weekend. Will probably check again tomorrow.
