Hi everyone. I don't have time for personals (but have read what everyone's up to). Just wanted to wish Ash all the best. I hope the medication gives you some relief very soon so you're not feeling so lost. Like Tan said, we're all here for you so please please please vent as much as you need to.
Oh thank you for the support girls, I really need and apprciate it. I start my meds tomorrow morning, and am very apprehensive. I feel like such a failure, but I read the info on the Beyond Blue website (best info if you know someone or thing you may have PND) and issues with breastfeeding is a BIG one in regards to devloping it, so I think this was a hige contributing factor,
Tan-I really appreciated the supportive words. I just hope I do't have to vent too much and bring everyone down. Wow maybe I'll try Blake without a nappy and see how he goes, he doesnt really like having no nappy on but it might be good for him! I'm just hoping Blakey gets better, I'm the less important person here, I hate seeing him in pain :(
Tara-It is so much better to not be alone - I thought I'd be the only one in the group to develop the condition. My GP thinks I developed it when I was preggers too, due to beng in hopsital, and in hindsight I totally agree. I am on Lovan, similar to Zoloft as far as I've read, have you heard of it? I hope everything is going well, and wow Leo is such a long, big boy, that just means he is healthy!!! Blake is also tongue tied, but not to the extremity Leo is. The doc who is doinghis circumcision next week also does tongue tie surgery so I'll ask him about that, Have you considered getting Lero circumcised or is it not for you??
Danni-Thank you sweetie, I know I've always got you, and I hope you know the same thing applies for you!
Kelly-Great news about the LC, I hope it all works out for you! I wish Blake would take a dummy, he just hates it :(
Kristen-I definitely think I have the support I need here on BB. You're all so wonderful and I'd be completely lost wihtout you!!!
Sarah-The other guy is an idiot - glad you got his plaster on though, heres hoping to it straightening out quickly!!
Sez-Thanks so much hun. I hope we can form a nice relationship over in Premmies :D!! I know what you mean about needing sleep, I should be leeping right now!!
Lulu-hugs...I really appreciate it
Hi Everyone, this has taken me two days to get this post together (lucky I use word to put it together first so I don’t loose it)
Well thankyou everyone for the b’day wishes. Isn’t it funny how Rae and I were born the same day and are now sharing a May mummies thread with our beautiful little girls. Actually I have to say that we lost touch for a couple of years but our pregnancies have brought us back together and I have to say that it was a shame that we did loose contact especially when there are so many similarities between us (such as we both married men named Paul and both got married only a few weeks apart)
My back is on the mend too – thank goodness as I really felt quite hopeless not being able to run around after Isobella. It was so painful. Isobella had been asleep and thought I would do a quick tidy up of the house and decided to do a quick sweep. Half way through sweeping my back was a little sore so I thought I would sit down for a minute and when I did I started to get pains down my leg then Isobella started being real restless so I thought I would put her next to me on the lounge and have a nap myself until she was due for her next feed. Well when we woke up I went to sit up to feed her but realised I couldn’t get up I was stuck! So I fed her lying down and then tried to get up again and sharp pains shot up my back and down my legs. There was no way I was getting up on my own and the phone was too far to reach to call someone. So I had to wait till Paul got home lucky I wasn’t in pain lying on my side. When he got home I told him I was stuck; so he came over a gave me a hand up and as he did I screamed in pain. He went white from my screaming and crying. Also because I had been there so long I was busting to go to the toilet and had to crawl from the lounge room to the toilet while he called my mum to come and look after me as he had to go to work the next day and couldn’t take the day off. I am so grateful that my mum came to help because I couldn’t straighten up at all. I was feeding Izzy bent over and couldn’t even burp her! I am still sore now but atleast I can stand up and carry my daughter around the house.
Not going to be able to do many personals as there was so much for me to catch up on but some one was talking about expressing and having difficulties getting the milk to flow. I have found that if I use a hot face washer and put it around the boob for a minute or two I am able to express better and I even seem to be able to get a bit more than if I didn’t - HTH
Also Lulu I am using the same bottles as you but she doesn’t seem to like them very much so I am going to have a look at getting something different to try. As I went to the Pink concert on Thursday (my first time away from my princess) it was my birthday pressie from DH and she wouldn’t feed without crying and getting very upset (won’t be leaving her again until she feeds from a bottle without any worries but it had been a short notice thing so I didn’t have much time to get her used to the bottle)
T4AA how fantastic was the Pink concert!! I had general admission tickets and I was right up the front only metres away from her. She is a fantastic entertainer and fit too! I couldn’t believe some of the stunts she did. When she swung over the crowd I was almost able to touch her.
Kristen do you use a pump or do you hand express. If you are using a pump try to maybe hand express a little first then use the pump it might help the let down of the milk.
Tan Yay on being able to drive! I keep forgetting about you guys that had the c/s and not driving I think I would have gone crazy if I hadn’t been able to drive.
Ash sorry to hear about the PND and we are all hear when you need us.
Tara I had Isobella measured today and her 6 week stats are 5590g an 59cm long with a HC of 37.9cm
Also Isobella has her days and nights mixed up so finding it a little hard ATM. Am trying to keep her awake through the day but nothing seems to be working she is still awake now better go
Good morning ladies,
This post is going to have to be quick because we are still having internet issues and it drops out all the bloody time so I'll try to answer the questions that you have all been asking and do personals at the same time. It's driving me crazy and we can't get our broadband connected for another 2 weeks or so. GGRRRRR!!!!!!!!
Olivia is growing really well. She was weighed yesterday and is now weighing 4395gms, 54cm and HC is 38cm. Our breast feeding is going really well but we just can't do it without a shield but i don't care. It works with the shield so that is all that matters. Leo is a big boy a 59cm but as long as he's growing it doesn't matter. Apparantely Olivia has a big head.
We are also having a lot of sleeping issues here as well. Seems that all our bubbies are working against us. If we hold Olivia and let her fall asleep in our arms and then put her in her bassinette she sleeps for a few hours until her next feed but trying to get her to settle herself in her bassinette is just not working. The MCHN gave us a lot of awesome advice yesterday and we tried it last night and the little turd wouldn't settle and we gave up after 1hr 45mins and picked her up and of course she was asleep in Dave's arms within 5mins and then slept until her next feed. We are going to work really hard on this over the weekend and if we can't get it sorted out we are going the parent and baby unit for their help next week.
The MCHN said to put her in her bassinnette when she is awake so she knows where she is. When are putting her to sleep in our arms and then putting her to bed when she stirs a little bit she is startled and scared because she doesn't know where she is or how she got there. Makes sense, I guess. We are just going to have to perserve and be strong. I'm just not. I hate my little girl being upset but this is one thing that she has to learn.
She also told me that I was having her up for too long. Olivia was up for about 2 - 2 1/2 hours from the start of a feed to being settled again so she was just exhausted. At her age she shouldn't be up for more than 1 - 1 1/2 hours at a time.
Ashlee it is fantastic that you were strong enough to get some help. Here's hoping that you and Blake both get better soon and your AD's help you.
To the mummies having trouble with expressing I too never got much out. On a really good express I got 90mls from both breast in total but I agree that our breasts are very sneaky and have heaps more milk than they let on. Plus don't forget that our babies suck is so much more effecient than expressing so they can get much more than we can expressing. Hoping that all nipples clear up and b/f issues are working themselves out. Plus, every feed they get is a bonus and if they need to have formula then they need to. I have a tin in our pantry for just in case situations.
Danni & Tan (and anyone else whose interested) - remember I mentioned in our belly buddies thread that I was coming to Melbourne in July. I will be there from 9th - 13th of July and was wondering if we could catch up??
Well I had better go and do some housework unfortunately but I'm more likely going to lay down on the couch with our puppies and give them some much needed attention. Tomorrow Dave is going to look after Olivia for a few hours so I can go shopping and have a bath. I adore my angel and husband more than life but I need a few hours by myself just like Dave needs daddy daughter time.
I promise that I am reading everyone posts and I'm thinking about you all but having trouble posting with this internet. I'm here though cause I couldn't be without belly belly. I love this place:D
Catch up soon lovely ladies,
Luv Dan & Olivia.
Ohhh I promise I will get to personals
Dan I think I might be in Melb on the Thurs of that week but not sure yet. I have to ask the specialist the plastering schedual. If I am down it would be cool to meet up.
Juz's mum is here, I might get a shower now!!!
Is my ticker on crack or is it just me, I thought it was Friday meaning that Noah would be 1 month 4 days not 1 month 1 day...
Dan - would LOVE to catch up, Danni is coming to visit me in the next hour or so will try to sort something out. Kristen, Sez, Tara?? are in melbourne too and might be intersted?? Anyone else??
On the up for 1-1/2 hours..... Izzy has been up sooo much longer than that..maybe shes then overtired when i try to put her down..glad you could get some advice too - heres to hoping it works - mmm i jsut spent 15 minutes pacing with Izzy to get her to sleep - great habit i will have to break at some stage although my theme and philosophy at this stage is whatever works = espeically if it means your sanity!
Mel - glad your back is a bit better - must have been just awful you poor thing. Good luck to with the day night thing...so many adjustments hey!
Ash - vent away! thats what we are here for but i do hope your ad's work and you are feeling lots soon andhope Blake is too... glad you got on the beyond blue site too...the more resources you turn to the better and more supported you will feel (i hope)
Lulu-good to hear from you hope you are going well too!
Sarah - so glad you were able to get confirmation from the specialist - its awful when you get conflicting advice...hope the plaster isnt too uncomfortable for Noah. Big :hugs: to you both..hope you get some rest too hun. I wonder if youcan make it to Melbourne when Dan is here in July - maybe time a specialist appointment for that day!!??
Kelly - Good luck getting the attachment worked out - Im about to call the maternal helath centre and make an appointment to see an LC - although my right isnt as bad as it was its still really sore and Im sick of putting up with it , plus i want to get some sleeping advice too. Yay on the driving - i was a bit nervous yesterday, but like i said i called the insurance and they said its fine as long as i wasnt advised not to. Im more worried about other d**heads than me crashing becasue I was driving like a granny!
Anyway have fun getting out and about babe!
Kristen - the video and pics of Mia are GORGEOUS!! She is so you too!! Her eyes are the same! FUnny, Izzy has my mouth and chin - a combo of mine and Als nose and Als eyes! Al is half japanese so Im so curious to see if that will come out as she gets older!!
All other gorgeous mums and bubs - Huge hellos and hugs!!
Anyway ladies - we went to my mums for dinner last night - I fed Isabelle at about 730 and she fell asleep and we came home and she slept til 230!!! OMG my boobs were killing me and sorry to the girls having trouble expressing but she only feeds on one side so had to express to get relief and got 80mls in 5 minutes from one side...crazy. Have frozen it and am going to stockpile for a night out with the girls soon. She also got up at 730, slept for an hour and i fed her again and shes now fighting sleep AGAIN...Its really getting beyond me how to get her to sleep during the day... shes showing all signs of being exhausted from being awake since 930 but just wont sleep...
Well have a great day ladies -will talk soon Im sure.
xox
Sarah - wasnt he born on the 13th - so he would be one month and 2 days????!!!!
Sarah it would be awesome if you were in Melb too. We'll def have to work something out. It is awesome news that you and Juz were able to get Noah's foot sorted out. Must be such a relief.
Dan, I'd love to meet up with you and everyone in Melbourne.. Just expect me to be the late one cause I've got Jack as well!!!;)
I'll BBL girls cause both my little men are asleep and I am in so need for a shower and to wash my hair!!:p
Alex - yay -the more the merrier I say!!!
There are pics on my site of Mason and Izzy today - such a cute couple!!!
Talk soon ladies!
Dan, Tan, Sarah, Alex - YES!! It would be great to have a huge meet up!! And anyone else in Melbourne who wants to join us - hmmm, by the time next month rocks around hopefully I would have got my ar*e into gear and be organised enough for something like that!!
Ash - best of luck with starting the meds hon. Here's hoping you'll be feeling 100% better before you know it!
Mel - you poor thing!! I hope your back is feeling heaps better but how scary for you! I do use a hand pump (Avent) but really don't get a lot out with hand expressing. That said, I think the motilium is starting to kick in as I've noticed my milk increasing when I express now (yay!) but I will give that a go too!
Dan - some of the best tips I have are from 'Save our Sleep'. Tizzy too recommends two main things - putting the baby down when it's awake, and always putting the baby down where you want it to wake up (ie same principle, so that when it wakes up it doesn't freak out not knowing where it is). Mia has improved 300% in the last week I think - and she's settling (sometimes still crying) within an average of 10-15 minutes and then sleeping usually for a good 1.5-3 hours depending on the time of day/night. And she also gets a good stretch between 10:30-3:30am using that book as a guide as well. I think you're definitely on the right track!!! Her measurements are also really similar to Mia's as well!!
Tan - how exciting! How was the mini-meet? Thanks for the kind words - I think she's cute, but every mother is biased!! hahaaa I know in a few months I will look back at that video and think "What on earth did I record that for?! She's not doing anything!" but the noises she makes are SO CUTE!! It's funny because I think she looks HEAPS like David, but definitely has my nose! I think it depends on the day!
And CUTE photos from today!! hehe I love the side by side shots!
As for our update - we had our MCHN appointment today and I'm feeling SO much better about our feeding. She's definitely put on enough weight and as I knew already, has grown heaps so that is a massive relief. It just seems that for whatever reason, but boobs just don't seem to respond as well to expressing but the MCHN said that she's definitely getting enough milk to put on weight.
So - stats as of today (4w + 3d) are:
4380g weight (average of 260g per week since last fortnight)
55cm length
37cm head circumference
So now feeling heaps better about it all!! Have my first mothers group thing next Wednesday too - has anyone else started theirs yet? What are they like? Mine goes for 6 weeks and then I'm not sure what happens. Do they start up again later or is that it?
hey guys, how cute are mason and izzy together! :D
Yes im definitely up for a big meet up that week with you Dan. Lets book it around sarahs appointment as I think that will be easier for everyone.
Gotta go and wake up my baby or else he will miss his feed and wake up early in the morning and i need a sleep in
good night everyone xx
I will find out the plastering schedule on Thursday when we go in next week, I hope we are in Melb for that week.
Tan, I guess I was the one on crack, I was thinking 4 weeks + 4 days = 1 month 4 days. I am such a dill. I pity this poor child of mine because he has an air head for a mum
Big hugs to Ashlee, you are doing fantastically and we are all here for each other, vent to us whenever you need to!
Will try to get to personals over the weekend, it has been a pretty full on week and I am trying to catch up on sleep wherever I can as my priority. Have a great weekend!!
haha sarah you crack me up! I forgot to mention than Tan is gunna work out a weekend that we can come to horsham. How much fun :D
Kelly glad to hear that you have sorted out the issues with feeding. How is it all going? I wish Isobella would take a dummy too sometimes because sometimes she just wants the bb in her mouth to settle and I don’t really want to keep doing this.
Sarah I am so glad that you got to see the specialist and that you are on the way to fixing Noah’s foot.
Tan & Danni how cute do Mason and Izzy look together!!
:
hahaaa I know in a few months I will look back at that video and think "What on earth did I record that for?!
 LOL Kristen you might think that but at this age anything that they do (besides cry) is cute – we can’t help ourselves going all goo goo gaa gaa over them. And we need to record as much of them at this age as possible cause they just grow up too quick!!
Well we had a good day yesterday Isobella was feeding every 4hours (ususally it is every hour and a half) and then last night she was fighting to go to sleep at 8 so I lay down next to her on the lounge (cause I was tired too) and we both fell asleep until 11:30 I changed her bum and ended up transferring her into bed with me and she woke every two hours for a feed and back to sleep again (and I hardly had to wake up either) so we are both nice and refreshed today. I am hoping that she has a longer spread between feeds again today :crossfingers:
Tonight we have my brother’s girlfriends 21st and it is outside and it is so miserable here today and very windy too so I don’t think we will be out long. :(
Well my little princess is sleeping ATM so I should take advantage and try to get some cleaning done.
AWWWWW Mason and Izzy just look soooooooooo cute guys!!! Future couple???hehehehe
Well Toby had a great sleep last night..He fed at 7.30pm/ 1.30am/ 6am...then 9am!! I couldn't believe it!! What a good boy!! And went straight back to sleep to.. I feel great!!hehehe
Ash, hope u are feeling better babe and so is Blakey.. We are always thinking of you luv...Big super hugs...
Sarah, so glad that Noah is getting his foot looked after, and hope you catch up on some well needed sleep luv..
Everyone else a big:hello: and I will chat to you all later cause Toby is stirring and I still need to get dressed!!!
BBL...
