awww sarah: smoking bothers me too. Luckily dale quit while i was pregannt.
tara: hope its not as serious as before
we are off to get professional photos done of the 3 of us today! i pray there are some nice ones. i am really self conscious since not being pregannt anymore. for those 9 months i always felt beautiful and unfortnately I cannot say the same anymore...even though I am thinner than before :(
-
Awww Danni, of course you are beautiful, don't be silly. The pictures will turn out great! Remember that there is nothing sexier in the world than being a mother.
-
Apologies for the mammoth post.............
Danni - girl you are gorgeous and your family shots are going to be sooo special and beautiful with your two boys!! Good luck hun! By the way you are a life saver - Isabelle LOVES her floor gym!!! Forgot all about it!!!
Sarah - glad Juz gave you a break for a bit - poor Noah with his plaster -does it bother him?? And I hear you on the smoking too hun - Al gave up the day before she was born and he has had one cigar and one cigarette since, when he and the boys went out the other week to "wet the babies head " We dont co-sleep though so I would definately be more upset if we did.
I love Halls Gap we stayed at the eco hostel there a few years ago and did heaps of walks - it was great - not sure if Id be up to hiking with Izzy though!! Although Al could back pack her i guess!!!
Tara - big hugs babe - hope the mastitis clears up quickly for you:hug: Hope you are feeling better today!
Alex - yay for Toby! What a champ!! Feels great hey!!
Mel - 4 hours - thats great - its so good when you get some rest and actually feel human with these little monkeys isnt it!!!How did the 21st go??? Hope it wasnt too cold for you all..
Kristen - glad your MCHN app went well- its such a relief to find out these babies are actually getting enough milk and growing!! I think with the mothers group- they are at the centre for a few weeks and then its up to the mums to organise it at each others houses etc?? Does that make sense? Mine havent started either and they havent told me when they will- need to find out this week because Im really keen to get out and have some adult interaction during the week!
Huge :hello: to all the othe mums and bubs - hope you are all keeping well and bubs are being angels!!!
Well we had a HUGE day yesterday - at the Queen Vic market = and then dropped dad off a soccer - went shopping and were out form 930-4 basically!! She was sooo good - either in her carrier or pram and just fed watched or slept! A bit grizzly when we got home though- am using the Brauer colic relief to see if it helps her wind that I find impossible to get up with burping etc...
??So a question for you all......for the last 3 nights she has gone down at between 6-7 and slept for - wait for it .....anywhere from 6-8 HOURS - OMG... I woke up at 3am the other night (morning)and realised she was still asleep and my boobs were KILLING me - I had to get up and express and while i was she finally woke up after 8 hours for a feed...after that she goes back for another 4 hours.
So question - should I be setting an alarm to express during this time so that Im not going longer than 4-5 hours between a feed or expressing - I have lots of milk right now but am scared that these big gaps (providing they keep up) will affect my milk supply???? Really not sure as have read that you shouldnt go longer than 3-4 hours?
At home we still have the same dilemma of not sleeping for more than 45mins -1 hour - but its so much easier to deal with when i get such a great rest at night.
Anyway like I said before - Danni reminded me that I have a floor activity mat:cryinglaugh: forgot all about it - and she is LOVING it! She doesnt seem to like her bouncer much, only for short periods but she has been happily gurgling and kicking away on the play mat the whole time ive been typing......wouldnt you know it - shes grizzling now so better go!
Have a great Sunday ladies and bubs!!
-
yay tanya!! you sound so much happier than last week :D
I am so glad she was an angel when you went out. It makes it so much easier!
And I am so glad she loves her play gym! whoo hooooo :confetti:
Re: the expressing. I would express during the night atleast once just in case. You dont want to decrease or lose your supply. And that is AWESOME she is sleeping like that already. well done to izzy :D
p.s the photographer just called and cancelled due to gastro :( although we could reschedule to next sunday. Mason will be HUGE by then
-
Tan - I would set the alarm if you are concerned but maybe call the aba and ask them for certain. I can't be bothered to get up to express myself though. My sleep is way too precious. Noah's plaster did bother him the same day. He was sleeping then waking up crying every hour all night and had a 2 hour wakeful period that night where he was hard to keep calm. He seems to have adjusted now though. I have pics on my page under Noah - Week 5 before plaster and after plaster.
Danni - That is rotten that the photographer got gastro. Mason will still be adorable next week and for the rest of his life, just a little bigger ;)
Well I set up the new pages for my webpage, I just need to organize the pictures and add a heap more. Is everyone else as snap happy as me? I take 10 of the same picture either so I am certain it has turned out or because he has made an ever so slight movement. At least Juz is certain the money on the camera was not wasted...

Hello!!!
Once again, I'm struggling to keep up!! We had a very busy day yesterday - I went for my first little outing without Luke!! It was a friends birthday lunch and Ryann had an exam, so I had to go alone. It was all just too hard to try and take Luke with us, as I'm still having trouble driving after the c/section, so there's no chance I'd be able to get the big pram in and out of the car!! So, I took him to Mums and then headed out for a couple of hours. It was so great to catch up with everyone and feel slightly human again!! BUT I missed my little boy like crazy! He was sooo good for Nana and Grandad though!!
Anyway, have just caught up on everything but I'm not going to do many personals, sorry guys, it's just so hard and Luke is due to wake up any minute - we've been out and about today, Ryann left his car out last night as he had a few drinks after his exam, so we've just been out to pick it up and dropped in at the supermarket on the way home!!
Tara - I'm so sorry to hear you're not well, mastitis is the worst, not to mention having to go for a D&C. I really hope it doesn't come to that for you this time. Please take care and try and get lots of people over to help you out so you can rest!! Big hugs to you!
Tan - Let me know what you end up doing in regards to expressing. I'm the same, I've got a huge milk supply and as much as I can't wait for Luke to string a good 6-8 hours of sleep together, I'm sooo worried about my boobs and how they'll cope. Sometimes they feel like they're about to explode and I'm so scared of the mastitis coming back.
Sarah - I'm photo crazy too - we've got hundreds of photos of Luke already (literally hundreds)!!! I updated my website the other day too!!
Danni - What a bugger that the photographer cancelled on you! I hope it all goes well next weekend for you!
Mel - How did the 21st go??
Well, as for me, the feeding is going pretty well for once. I've been expressing from the problem right boob and feeding Luke the bottle every second feed. Luckily I have enough milk to just feed from the left boob, then the next feed is the bottle (ebm from the right boob), so hopefully I'm not messing with my supply too much. I've noticed the right boob doesn't have anywhere near as much milk as the left now though!! I'm so scared about feeding from the right again, although the nipple is looking so much better, most of the cuts have healed and the mastitis is completely gone!! I'm just so scared of it hurting again and the cuts coming back. I might try a feed from it tonight and see how it goes. Expressing is getting rather annoying. I'm also getting really bad 'let down' pains in my boobs all the time, and of course with that they leak!! It's sooo uncomfortable and annoying. I'm praying its all going to settle down soon??? I expected feeding to be difficult but this has been way beyond anything I imagined. I don't know how I'll get through!
Anyway, Luke is still eating and sleeping really well. We're getting about 3-4 hours between feeds and at night he settles really well. During the day though, he desperately wants to be awake and ends up getting overtired. We try so hard to put him down but there's too much to look at and take in, he just won't have a bar of it. He's still good though, after a bit of a scream, he'll fall straight to sleep, it's hilarious. Screaming one second, sound asleep the next!!
Must go - I hope everyone is well.
Kelly xxx
-
Kelly, the pics of Luke are great, I love the one of him in the sink. I have the same ducky thermometer as well. :) Good luck with feeding from the other boob. I hope it goes well. And yes let-down sucks!!
-
Kelly - I agree with Sarah - all the photos are gorgeous but that sink shot is soooo cute!!! Im still not sure what to do about expressing - am going to call my MCHN and the ABA tomorrow to get some advice.
I agree with breastfeeding too - I have 6 friends who are pregnant - 3 who are really close and Im pumping them with sooo much bf info - i want them to be prepared for whats ahead even though everyone is different. I think they are pretty aware having seen what Ive gone through and the fact that Im not one of these lucky mums who raves about how great breastfeeding is...I think its great for Izzy and I love that she is growing so well and i love the convenience...but the physical and mental aspect can be so awful - not sure how we have stuck it out to be honest.
Sorry babbling on....Izzy is on her play mat again - content for now, Al has been helping friends renovate their new house, she is due in 3 weeks and the house as of today hasnt even got carpet, a kitchen and had big holes in the floor - OMG - hopefully she wont go early..
Anyway this grizzle bum is at it again - better go.
Talk soon ladies...
-
Hi everyone. We've had a big day out today for DH's birthday so I'm really whacked. I've been reading what everyone's up to but will catch up as best I can.
Tara - so sorry to hear you've got mastitis and are down in the dumps. It must be so much harder with your other kiddies. I hope the ab's help give you some relief very soon so you can start feeling on top of things again.
Tan - I have the same "problem" with my Izzy - she feeds about 6-7pm and then not again for at least 6 hours. I wake up drenched with milk. I haven't been expressing - to be honest I'd rather get the sleep while its going because I'm not sure how long this blissful sleep pattern of hers will keep up. I haven't had any issues with my milk supply suffering - I can express anywhere from 60mls to up to 140 mls after I've fed her throughout the day. The only down side is that my boobs hurt like hell until she's had a feed!
Kelly - glad to hear you're managing feeding a bit better. I wouldn't worry about your supply being uneven though - I've been really blessed with not having had a single feeding problem and yet I have heaps more milk in my left than my right breast. Nice to get out on your own for a little while isn't it - I did that yesterday for a gf's birthday and it was lovely to be just me again, instead of with Izzy, but I missed her so much and was very glad to get home to her.
Danni - I hope you get your photos done next Sunday - and I'm sure Mason will still be small and cute by then!!
Sarah - yay for the Mother's group surprise. How was it? I hope you gave Juz the rounds of the kitchen when he came home - naughty boy. At least he did the right thing and took Noah this morning so you could relax and get some more sleep.
Ash - how are you going?? I hope things are looking a little brighter for you.
I've had a good few days with Isabelle. She has been feeding, sleeping and settling really well and her colic and reflux really seem to have settled down a bit (hope I don't jinx myself here!), so life seems a bit easier all of a sudden. Hopefully it will continue cos I seem to be sooooo tired all of a sudden.
I'm off to my OB on Tuesday for my 6 week post check up (actually 7 weeks). Really weird but I think I'm actually ovulating!!! After so long checking CM etc I'm an expert now and I swear I am. Really really really hope I'm not because we're going to let nature take its course conceiving No. 2 but a few months off at least would be nice before being pregnant again. Just as well I haven't got the all clear year for BD from my OB - although poor hubby is missing out on his birthday bonk :p
-
Lulu, I did give the poor boy a little bit of a cold shoulder when he got home, he really didn't understand why until I explained to him that he told me one thing and did another and I was waiting up for him when I could have slept (even though I couldn't sleep ;) ) The mothers group thing was great, only 2 other mothers showed but it was good anyway. Fantastic news about Isabelle being so good for you. Wow on ovulating already too! I will be doing the same thing in regards to birth control although I guess I need to be a little more careful about conceiving so soon because of the c/s...
We just had a 5 hour stretch of sleep!!!!! But now it looks like he wants to stay up :( I might try to lay on the sofa with Noah on my chest. Fingers crossed I can get a few more hours. A question for you all... How do you get blood out of clothing? My dog went into heat and there is blood all over my new sheets, the poor girl, as soon as I noticed she got banished to the cold outdoors. I made her a little nappy the last time but I think she has out grown it already.
-
Sarah, Big Yay for Noah on his 5 hour stretch of sleep!! What a champ!!:clap:
Toby went 12-7am between feeds last night, I woke up in shock!!
And my dog was on heat recently and she too got blood all over the sheets.. I think I just sprayed what I could see with pre-wash stain remover and I also used Napisan in the wash too... And someone correct me if i'm wrong, but I think cold water is good for blood stains??
I have that joy to look forward to again soon Sarah, as we want to breed with Lara, our french bulldog when she is next on heat... Cause everyone wants a puppy off her!! I can't wait...
Danni, hope the photographer is ok this weekend and u guys get some lovely photo's.. And I think you will look just beautiful in them babe.. Don't worry, even though u are not preg, you are now a beautiful glowing mummy!!!
Tara, hope you are feeling better and the mastitis has gone... It's so awful isn't it, especially when you have other kids to worry about... Big hugs luv...xoxoxoxo
Ash, how u and Blake going?? Hope u 2 are both alot better too..xoxoxoxoxo
Lulu, so glad that Izzy's colic and reflux seems to be settling down and you've had a great couple of days..And sounds like you'll have to give your hubby and IOU on the b'day bonk!!!hehehe My DH says I owe him a whole week of BDing!!! Not likely atm!!
Tan, so glad Izzy enjoys her playmat.. Toby likes his too..I just have to watch that Jack doesn't try to play too and squash him!!
Well better go and get some brekky before Toby wakes up.. After his feed at 7, he fell asleep again, so I'd better take advantage now, cause he's prob gonna be awake most of the day now!!LOL..
-
Another question - this is horrible but I dread being at home with Izzy all day at the moment coz I just know she wont sleep - whereas if we are out she is fine... As I said to DH this morning I cant spend my life at the shopping centre(mmm although it would be nice!) so is it reasonable to expect her to be up for 1.5 hours from the start of a feed and then to put her down??? I think Ive been keeping her up too long, and she gets really unsettled - not sure....
-
Tan - I always try and keep Mia up for 1.5 hours from waking until I put her down. She gets so sleepy though so we don't usually manage it, but at this age, it's plenty. I really wouldn't go more than 2 hours, and if you can manage 2, try and do it before they night sleep where you want them to sleep longer. It's helping with Mia's sleeping enormously (but this is all in the SOS book anyway, so I'm sure you've heard it all already!!)
Sarah - glad to hear you enjoyed mothers group, though shame only 2 people showed. How many were supposed to turn up? What did you do?
Alex - 12 -7am?? Lucky thing!! Let's hope he continues with it - go Toby!
Lulu - so glad to hear the colic and reflux has settled, that's great news. Good luck with your checkup as well!
Kelly - yay on the feeding routine, sounds like you're going really well. Keep up with the expressing and hopefully it will help in keeping your supply up in your right BB. Glad to hear everything is healing really well too.
Danni - bummer about the photographer. Hopefully the Sunday appointment will stick and we can get a glimpse of some more photies of Mason!
Tara - You poor thing chicky - sounds like you're absolutely in the wars right now. I hope everything turns out ok, but how unlucky for you to have to go through this every time :(
Things are going well here - we've been on a semi-roll for the last few days and Mia has been sleeping ok. A bit grizzly here and there, and won't settle but on the whole I think she's slowly starting to get the hang of it. I still get really teary and easily impatient which is my own issue I have to deal with, but she's doing well I think.
Mia's also got this horrible hormone/milk rash at the moment which she's had for the past couple of weeks now which doesn't seem to be going away. Just when I think it is, it flares up in a new area again - always on her face/neck but never below there. Anyone else have this?
-
tan: remmeber i told you the same thing? Mason REFUSES to sleep at home, so yes I go out every single day. Even if I just go and sit in the shopping centre and read a magazine or something.Atleast it gives me 30 mins of silence :)
alex: yay for the sleeping! hows jack doing? I miss you guys!
Last night Mason fed at 8pm, and went to bed at 9pm. He woke at 4:30am!! that is 8.5 hours i couldnt believe it! Then he fed and went straight back to sleep, and woke at 10am for his feed. I overslept and feel crap, but what a champ
hopefully everyones bubs start sleeping like this very soon.
-
Yay Mason what a champ!!!! Danni Im worried about the days im not out - I really cant go out every day and she just wants to sleep on me all day...mmm i might call the LC and sleep expert i have a contact for... trouble is i dont want to do controlled crying or a strict routine but i know she does need a routine of sorts... maybe i need to stop reading so much and just make it up!!!
-
I agree. Every baby is different and everyone "mothers" in a different way and that is perfectly ok. you cant do everything from a book.
Someone gave me the BEST advice. "Do what works". Whatever that may be. As long as you are happy, then so is she.
If you arent busy, let her sleep on you. And keep trying every now and then to put her down. If not, spend the day snuggling. She will grow up before you know it and you will miss those free unbribed cuddles ;)
-
You girls are all so good at keeping up! I have one good day, and then it all turns to custard again LOL! We're going really well here, though I'm having the same problem, with Nicky not wanting to sleep during the day. Unless he's on me of course! I now put him in the Baby Bjorn if he won't go in his bed, otherwise I don't get anything done! I'm not really complaining though, he's been better at night. Last night was amazing, he went almost 7 hours between feeds, sleeping from 12.30 to 5.30 WOOHOO! Thank goodness, because I was starting to get really exhausted. He just screams in the evenings, poor Daddy thinks that's just the way he is all the time because that's all he sees!
Tan, Nicholas is great when we go out too.........it only happens a couple of times a week here of course:rolleyes:. I'm just making it up now, and it's working......this week LOL! I'm sure it will all change again tomorrow. I would talk to the ABA or your LC about expressing, I'm not sure what you should do. I woke up with rock hard boobs this morning, but I'd rather that than getting up to express! I don't think it's going to happen much for us yet, so I'm not too worried. I agree with Danni, if you can, just sit and cuddle! She will get big so fast, and won't want to do that anymore. I spend soooo much time sitting on the couch with Nicky!
Kelly, isn't it strange how it's so nice to have a couple of hours off, but you miss them soooo much! I can't be away from Nicholas without thinking about him almost constantly. Glad you had a nice time out and about. How did you go with driving? It must be strange after so long. I think it'll be weird for me, it will have been 3 or 4 months.
Danni, hope you're waking up and starting to feel better! Bummer about the photographer, but I'm looking forward to seeing your lovely photos when you get them! WTG on the feeding too, you've come such a long way :) Hey, what happened to your av? I love the new one too.
Kristen, we haven't had any rashes here, is there anything you can use on it? I put BM on everything LOL, it always works! on getting teary, some days I know the feeling. It's so hard when you're sleep deprived.
Alex, yay for the big sleep! Hope you managed to get in your brekky! I've taken to getting it all out ready at night so it's quick and easy in the morning. Especially if I've only got one hand! What sort of dog have you got?
Sarah, another one with sleep, isn't it great! Must have been a good night for it :) Is it very cold at your place?
Bugger, I've got visitors! Hopefully the little man will let me get back on later!
Love Sez xoxo
-
Danni, We miss you 2 luv!!! Jack is going great guns and saying alot more words everyday now.. He is such a character:p And he is also becoming more interested in Toby too, which is great. YAY on Mason's huge sleep!! Now he just has to sleep during the day at home hey!!
And I so agree with you babe, Do what works!!! every baby is so different and just go with the flow.. I did that with Jack and this time I'm even more relaxed and enjoying it more cause I know what I'm doing and not stressing over little things ..ANd Nick is such a great Dad and a huge help for me too..
Sez, sounds like Nicky is sleeping well too... That's great.. Yay, I've had brekky and lunch today cause Toby has been sleeping and playing all morn and Jack has been running around chasing Lara all morn too.. Oh and she is a French Bulldog...
Well Jack is calling out "Mumma", so I'd better go.. I think he is ready for a nap..
BBL ladies..

Tan - I gave in and tried controlled crying/comforting despite not wanting to with a bubby this young. I never let her scream alone, and only let her cry "calmly" for 5 minutes at the absolute most before going in and comforting her. Izzy refused to sleep at all during the day unless she was on me and it was just getting too much. Now she goes down in the morning usually without a sound, afternoons are still a bit of a struggle, and night feeds she wakes, feeds and goes straight back down. She is usually only up for 40 minutes to an hour - 1.5 hours is just too long for her and she gets overtired and then impossible to settle. Not really in a routine (she does what she wants, when she wants!!) but I am guaranteed to get a 4.5 to 5 hour sleep out of her in the morning which is brilliant.
Kristen - Isabelle has a horrible rash too, which is over her face, neck and sometimes on her head. We also have lots of midgie things that get through the flyscreens so sometimes she gets bites on her face too - the poor little thing is a mess some days! My community nurse said basically they don't cause her any grief, so just leave them be. I do find if she gets herself worked up and hot they really come out.
Danni and Sez - yay on your boys having such great sleeps. It makes all the difference to how you feel doesn't it. Fingers crossed they all continue sleeping well.
Sarah - definitely hit your sheets with the Napisan and like Alex said, use cold water. Poor little doggy being outside - so hard though cos the last thing you need is her bleeding everyone.
Stupid question time - how do I get a picture in my signature??
-
It is fantastic to hear about our babies starting to sleep better and giving their mummies nice blocks of sleep. Olivia is feeding every four hours and she isn't up for over 1 1/2 hours at a time so I'm getting sleep. Our settling is touch and miss still at the moment. But I completely agree with Danni "Do what works". It's the only way that I have survived.
Sorry for the extremely quick post but I have to jump in shower before Olivia wakes up. Fingers crossed she'll go back down this afternoon and I'll be able to get back on and do personals.
Can't wait to catch up properly.
Luv dan.
-
 Dan, I just had my shower too! Juz comes home for lunch and Noah was mostly asleep so I ran for my life. I didn't even get a shower yesterday.
Lulu, I will do, I just have to wait until tomorrow now because we ran out of Napisan yesterday hehe Always the way. You have to get a ticker from the site that does it. Click on my ticker and it will take you to the site and it saves your ticker so that you can change the picture without having to create a new one all the time.
Sez, it is freezing here, we are getting minus temps at night and I have added a second blanket to our bed although I can only have it on my lower half because of Noah in bed with us. Good idea on the carrier, I ordered a sling off of ebay but I need to exchange it for a larger size.
Danni, yay on Mason sleeping last night. Have you tried carrying him in a sling for daytime sleeps? Not ideal I know but at least you might be able to get a few things done?
Kristen, it was an informal mothers group because the real one doesnt start until mid July and I guess it was last minute for some. I didn't even know it was happening.. I love the video of Mia, it is so cute especially when she sneezes.
Tan, I don't know what to suggest, I am terrible at paying attention to Noah and sleep. I guess he doesn't really have a problem so that is why I don't notice. But I agree with the rest, do whatever works. If Noah isn't ready for a sleep and I want a nap I just lay him on my chest and he will fall asleep after a few minutes
Alex, thanks for the tip, I just hope she only just went into heat and not ages ago so that the stains are fresh. It is hard to notice marks on our floor because it is very 70's here. I don't want to spay Cherry Pie because I don't want her to get chubby and who knows if I want another puppy in the near future  Maybe I will get a puppy off of you!
Caro, I am aware of the co sleeping guidelines which is why I made Justin have a shower when he got home and Noah only sleeps on my side of the bed so there is no risk of him being rolled on if Juz has been drinking. There never has been and never will be smoking inside my house and that went for when I smoked as well. There is nothing worse than the smell of cigarette smoke in hair and clothes. Thank you for your concern though :D
I am going to go down to that shops now... There is a nasty rain cloud looming and it is bitterly cold out there. How much do I need to rug Noah up? I do the body suit then outfit and then the Snug as a Bug, I also have a thing that covers up the baby area of the pram which I assume keeps things warm in there so will what he is wearing be enough? Another question, Noah is becoming x-rated with his booby feeding, he is snacking today but for the last few days he has been spending more time mouthing and licking at my nipples than drinking, is this what they do when they are trying to increase production? I certainly hope not because I have an oversupply as it is but maybe not enough for him...
Oh yeah and I updated the webpage with more photos yesterday!
-
Danni - WOWIE on the sleeps! Go Mason!!
Tan - I'm sure you'll work someting out between the two of you. You're learning about sleep just as much as she is - if it helps to put the books away and run with it, then do it. You need to do what's best for you :)
Sez - great news on his sleeping! Yay! I don't think there is anything you can put on it, some babies just get the rashes I think. Might just have to wait it out!
Alex - how cute that Jack is taking an interest in Toby! Won't be long before they'll be out playing with each other and you'll wonder where all the time went!!
Lulu - oh I'm glad Mia's not the only one with the rash! Yeah, I figured I would just leave it as I really don't think there's anything you can do. Poor thing just looks so uncomfortable though... but maybe that's just my perception!
Dan - we're completely the same. Mia's sleeping is also hit and miss in terms of her self-settling. Sometimes she will go down and sleep for 1.5-2hrs no probs, other times she will cry for a few mins and then doze off, other times she cat naps and then wake herself up after 40-50mins and cries... seems to be no pattern yet we're always doing the same thing with her! Will keep persisiting I suppose!
Sarah - I hear you on the showers! After waking, changing nappy, dressing, feeding, playing sleeping it's not long before the cycle starts over again and you lose track of time!!! I live in my trackies all day every day!!
How many people are expressing as well as feeding? Are people storing their EBM if they are? I've just started putting my EBM in milk storage bags and freezing them so we can use it if we go out, or if I'm not around etc - but is anyone doing it differently?
-
A quick one here again too - mum is here again too - I got Izzy to sleep for a bit in her bouncer in the lounge room - maybe she like sthe noise?
Not sure who had a rash - Izzy had one all over her chest, up her neck and on her scalp (not her face for some reason) and it looked awful... I was told it was just from heat, change of temp and environment and it went in a day or two. I was told not to use any soap during bathing (even J&J stuff) and I put moisturiser on her which seemed to help.
Im only expressing at night if Im in agony because she has slept for 6-8 hours!! Im freezing in bottles at the moment but am going to invest in some bags soon.
Sarah - what sling did you get?? I got a Chickadee on ebay - medium and she hates it!!! Not sure if Im using it right though...
Thanks all for your support - I think the theme of whatever works will have to do for now - including a dummy and letting her cry a bit...
Talk soon!
-
Kristen, I am expressing still, but I can't get much, just enough for his top ups really. I'm hoping we can ditch those soon so I can stockpile some EBM in the freezer and return the hired pump.
-
Tara sorry to hear about the mastitis; I really hope for your sake that it all clears up soon and that the AB’s work so that you don’t need the D&C. Make sure you get as much rest as you can ((big hugs))
Sarah I don’t think that you are being irrational about Juz smoking and then sharing the bed with Noah. Paul is still smoking and I hate him coming near Isobella straight after he has had one and it is part of the reason that I try not to bring Isobella into our bed when he is there.
Oh and I didn’t realise it would be such a big cast on Noah’s foot. How are you bathing him now??
Whoo Hooo Tan that is a fantastic sleep Izzy is getting but as you said because she has a big sleep you get a good sleep and it makes it so much easier with her not sleeping as long through the day. Also I would be getting up to express if my Izzy was sleeping that long. She occasionally does a 6hr sleep but she usually drains both bbs when she has slept that long (usually she only will drink from one bb at a time). I have also been putting Isobella one the play mat through the day and she has just started working out that she can reach the little toys dangling over her – it is so funny watching her try to grab them.
Danni what a shame about the photographer!!
Kelly did you end up trying to feed from the right bb yet? If so how did it go? And don’t worry Isobella usually only feeds from one bb and I also have leaking issues!! BTW love the new shots of Luke
Lulu glad to hear that Isabelle’s colic has settled
Kristen Isobella has got the same hormonal rash too and it seems to be doing the same as Mia’s but my doctor told me it will disappear soon. If it isn’t gone in the next two weeks I will see about getting something to put on it.
I have some EBM frozen from the other night that I went out to the Pink concert so I haven’t frozen any since but am occasionally expressing enough for half a feed to get Isobella used to feeding from a bottle- she still doesn’t like it though :(
A Question has anyone heard from Lee (dolphin)? I was just thinking last night that we haven’t heard from her for a while.
Well the 21st was alright it was raining and miserable but not as cold as I thought it would be - but I hate the cold so I was very well rugged up, so was Isobella. It was this all in one out fit that had a hood with ears on it and I put it over the top of her clothes so she became very cuddly!. You should have seen her - I forgot to take a photo but I might put the outfit back on her and do a mock shot just to show you. Though I was quite disappointed by the guest they just sat around drinking and talking – what happened to all the dancing and loud drunken behaviour??? I have seen bingo more lively!! Isobella was quite unsettled too she didn’t want to go to sleep and she hadn’t slept much that day either so she was quite grumpy by the end of it.
I have been working on Isobella's routine too the last couple of days and she seems to be settling a bit better into a routine; actually I think it was Dan who said that they shouldn't be staying awake more that 2hrs so I have tried settling her by the two hour mark and if she wakes while she is sleeping and it hasn't been very long I have been settling her back to sleep instead of keeping her awake. So far I have been getting about 3-4hours in between feeds instead of 1-1.5hours but I still am having troubles getting her to sleep at night - she wants me to sleep next to/cuddle her through the nights but is happy to sleep on her own through the day. Any suggestions??
Well better go and do someting about dinner.
Chat later

Mel - Isn't it horrible when you smell the smoke on the clothes and they are holding the baby? I have told Juz he has to wash his hands and brush his teeth, shower, change clothes in order to let Noah go near him. I grew up in a smoky home but when I was put into foster care in a smoke free home I quickly realized the difference. I still ended up being a smoker anyway... I didn't think Noah's plaster would be so thick but I knew it went up his entire leg, not sure why though when the problem is the foot. Maybe I will ask on Thursday. No suggestions here on the night sleeping, maybe a ticking clock? I gave up trying to get Noah to sleep on his own and it was better for me to go the co sleeping option and I am too scared to try to get him on his own again.
Tan - I got the nurture sling off ebay but it was too small so I am exchanging it for a medium. I am not quite sure how the baby is supposed to go in, I am assuming on their side?
Kristen, it is the most unfair cycle isn't it? I would love to express as well as feeding but I have a greedy guts here and I can hardly get any milk out after he is done and I don't want to express between feeds because he eats so frequently that I want to make sure there is enough for him. I managed to get 25mls out of both last night and I need 500mls by Thursday. If I do manage to get some frozen I have 7 bottles I can freeze them in so I might use 6 and then use the 7th to measure amounts into bags.
My little man sure loves getting up between 4-5 in the mornings. Problem is he stays up for a couple of hours, it is now 6:20am and he is just closing his eyes. I don't stimulate him, I just lay him down and ignore him keeping it dark but he still stays awake. Do they just grow out of this or is it stuck like this? Oh well, I better get back to bed and see if I can get another couple of hours. I have been up every 2 tonight..

Hi all
Will be back later for personals but just wanted to pop in and say we're doing ok (getting there at least).

NEWS FLASH!!
I was having the worst day/night yesterday with Mia and was ready to get in my car and drive away!! It was DH's first night back at work (he works night shift) so I was home alone from 5pm.
Mia woke up at 1:30pm and didn't go back to sleep until 8:30pm....!!!!!!!!! She was MENTAL - just screaming and screaming in her cot, then she FINALLY decided to settle on my chest at 830 - got her to sleep until 1045 and then fed her, put her to bed at 1130 (crying again, but fell asleep within 10 mins) and then... GET THIS.... didn't get me up until 620!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALmost 7 hours!!
She stirred a bit throughout the night and grizzled, but didn't actually cry to be woken up until then!!!! I'm sure it's a fluke because she was just so exhausted from yesterday but I swear at 8pm last night, I was in tears to DH on the phone telling him she wouldn't stop crying and I didn't know what to do etc and then she slept so long my BBs were KILLLLLING!! hahaaaaa Nice of her to do so though - don't think I would have been sane today otherwise but feeling SO refreshed!! I hope she does it again tonight!!
-
Yay for Mia!!! Just when you dont know what else to do they seem to sense it and co-operate!!! Fingers crossed she does it for you again and again Kristen!
Yay for Ash!! Glad to hear it too hun.!
Ill be back later too.... we are fighting sleep again.... up since 645 and wont sleep unless we are cutting laps around the house and I bet she will be hungry soon again..grrr:doh:
-
kristen: what a cheeky little monkey there! she must have been exhausted. Good on you for feelin so good :)
We are still expressing as often as I can to avoid my supply dwindling off every few days! (i hate it!) I have a fridge and freezer full of milk. In bottles in the fridge and in milk bags in the freezer.
Mason has 2 bottles of EBM every day. The evening and the middle of the night feeds so DH can give them to him.
Sarah: the milk bags have measurements on them so you know how much is in there :)
mason still did his 7 hour sleep last ngiht! im loving that he is a good boy at night. if ONLY he would sleep at all during the day grrrr.
I have my third week of mothers group today and he always sleeps there. they think he is an angel
ashlee: pop in soon! xxx
tan: yes izzy may very well love the noise. Mason sleeps best if a radio or tv is on too.
alex: great to hear Jack is speaking more. Cant wait to chat to him soon hehe
sez: hopefully you dont need to top up for much longer
ETA: my av was blonde cos thats what I was when Mason was born but now I am back to brunette! hehe
-
Ooooooh its Izzys 1 month birthday today!! cant believe it....back soon too hard typing left handed while feeding!!!!!!
-
Morning all,
Sez, I hope you can get some milk stockpiled in the freezer soon!!
Hey Mel & Sarah, I totally undestand about the smoking thing. I hate smoking too and luckily Nick or I don't, but I can definatley smell it on my SIL when they come over. How good will it be after July 1st when everywhere will be smoke free!!!! And all the smokers will have to go outside in the cold!!
Mel, that outfit sounds just divine!! I bet she looked sooooo cute!! Toby has the same one with the hood with the ears on it.. I'll be putting him in it this Sat cause we have a 21st to go to as well!!But it SIL's so it's at Nick's parents house, so we'll prob stay inside all night anyway.. Well I will cause it is fancy dress as someone from Hollywood/movies and I'm going as Lara Croft and I'm gonna be cold!!hehehe And Jack is going as a mini Rambo, how cute!! Don't worry there will be heaps of photo's cause Nick just bought a new $1500 camera!!
And on the night sleeping, maybe put a piece of your clothing or something that smells like you in near her to comfort her and so she can still know you are kinda there IYKWIM?? And maybe a ticking clock like Sarah said, I have one in both my boys rooms. I think it is like your heartbeat or something?? HTH ..
Sarah, I hope you can get some milk frozen.. Sounds like he is a guts though!!! Toby was quite awake too these last 2 nights after his 12-1am feed, he even smiled at the ceiling fan!! I do the same as you and just wrap him and put him down and after a bit he nods off..Luckily its only about 10-15 mins though!!
Kristen, I live in my trackies too!! And believe me there are some days where Nick gets home(like yest!) and I'm still in my pjs!! With 2 feeding, changing, getting to sleep, cleaning up messes and sometimes feeding myself, the day just goes!!
Tan, Toby loves his dummy..And if they like it then let them have it I think.. Jack still has one to go to bed with, and it was a great help as a baby too, cause both my boys are very sucky and it helped alot..
Anyway, I'd better go cause Toby is in my arms and needs his smelly bum changed!! He was a good boy again last night and went from 7.30pm/1.30am/6am/9am..

Ash, sorry I was posting as you did.. So glad to hear you and Blake are doing ok...We are all here for you luv..xoxoxo:hug::hug:
Ok bbl..
-
I had great intentions of posting personals this morning, but I've only just finished brekky and I'm still in my pjs! He's in the carrier now, asleep, he just would not settle before. Normally I'd be okay with that, but I need to have a shower and be ready to go to the MCHN at about 2.00pm. Showering takes at least half and hour with this bloody foot, and I know that he's going to want to feed twice before we go, so there goes my two and a half hours! Man, I love my life as a mum, but who would have thought that it could take so long to get out of the house LOL!
-
haha sez, i need to be ready in 45 mins and mason has decided to go to sleep!
so the bag is packed, and i am ready....but he needs to wake, feed, change and get dressed!
-
Hey everyone! Blake is having a nap, and has been down for half and hour, THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR ME SO I'M A BIT EXCITED lol I have uploaded new pics to his site, in my sig :D
-
Ashlee the link isn't working for me :(
I forgot to answer someones question before re: Noah's bath, I have to top and tail him now although on Thurs I have to soak off his plaster in the tub so I may bathe him then, poor boy loves his baths :(
-
Sorry bout that, I forgot I changed the name to the link, will just go get the new link now and change my sig :)
ETA: Done, should work now :):)
-
Aww he looks so cute!!! I love his hair!
-
Sarah - thanks!! Now got a picture of my little princess in my signature thanks to you!
Ash - glad to hear you're getting a nap out of Blake. Hope you're feeling better and taking the chance to rest yourself.
Danni and Sez - I hate that - you're ready to go out and the little buggers choose that time to actually sleep! I had to wake Izzy this morning so I could get to the OB on time, and then she ended up all grumbly.
Kristen - yay for such a huge sleep for Mia, although a pity she had to be such a naughty girl for her mummy to get there. Let's hope you have a more pleasant evening tonight, but just as long a sleep from your little princess.
Alex - I hope you're going to take pictures of your miniature Rambo - that sounds really cute.
Had my check up this morning with the OB and all's fine - he told me I've done so well I should be not wasting any time for my second child!! Hmmm. Think we'll see about that! A second baby seems a looooooong way off when you're dead tired, up in the freezing cold night feeding at 4am. Izzy is finally down sleeping so I'm off to bed now - sooooo tired. Someone should develop a pill that gives you 8 hours of sleep in tablet form - they'd make kazillions I reckon.
