A quick one here,
Sarah - glad you are ok and hope the appointment goes well today too.
Kelly - you poor thing, :hug:you are doing an amazing job babe, and are way stronger than you think. I completely understand why you feel like you do - and as someone else said (sorry not sure who) Luke will continue to grow and thrive even on formula...there are way worse things that can happen. We put so much pressure on ourselves and wonder what people think - BF is such a huge issue for new mums but if you feel that you will cope much better and Luke will too make sure you do what you think is right. If you decide not to - can you just express from that side occasionally until it clears up-?? Sorry not sure what the go is there.. but am thinking of you and hope it all gets better for you soon.
Sez - hope mothers group was fun and thanks for reminding I need to call and find out when mine starts!!
Tara - Yay for the rocking chair - sounds divine! I definately think the catch phrase in here right now is "whatever works"!!!
Danni - Christmas - OMG - I cant think past the weekend!! It just hit me that its the end of June nearly - that freaked me out! December seems a long way away..Have toys r us got a sale on????
So after another great night- slept from 6-1230, then up at 6 and 930 - whoo hoo we've had one 1 hour sleep and another 45 sleep= both times about 10 minutes after she woke up she did the biggest poo so wonder if thats whats waking her so soon. Now we are in the bouncer with the hiccups!
Talk later anyway ladies - have a great day, by the way have to say I reeeeealllly hate winter In Melbourne - defnately going to try and time No#2 (a looooong way off!!!) to be due when the weather is nicer so we can get out more and stay sane - really want to go for a walk but this wind and cold is ridiculous..:cryinglaugh:
-
OMG - have been settling her since 4.. dummy in asleep for 2 mins then crying again........my mum casts spells i swear...and here she goes again...
-
ok im one handed now too. i prefer to do the xmas shopping now so i dont hAve to worry bout it later. toyrs r us had a massive sale and i got the BEST bargains :D
mason slept in the HAB the whole time while i pushed a hugely overfull trolley. this sling is just amazing i swear.
tara: it comes withh a dvd to show you how to put it on. it is soooooooooo easy once youve done it a few times.

Thank you all so much for the support & encouragement. I'm feeling much better today and have now decided to change our feeding routine to see if that helps clear up the mastitis once and for all. I was feeding on just one side each feed because I had such a large milk supply, but I'm now trying to feed off both sides each feed and we'll see what happens. I'm a bit worried I won't be emptying the boobs fully but have expressed a bit after some of the feeds and all is going well so far. My bbs feel sooo much more comfortable too as they're not getting as full. I'm praying this works and we can get through it all.
Luke was great last night. He fed at 6pm, then went down at about 7.30pm and slept till 11pm. Fed again at 11pm, got to bed at midnight and he didn't wake until 4am. Then to my surprise, he went down again and didn't wake until 8am!!! What a champion. I hope it stays that way. He hasn't slept much since but hay, as long as he sleeps at night!!!
I'm at Mums for the night as Ryann is out at a work conference, so it will be interesting to see if Luke sleeps well in a new environment. I hope he does but if not, at least Mum is here to help!!
Better go but thanks again!
Kelly xxxx

OMG Tara - I forgot to say I can't believe you went through this 8 times - what a legend, I don't think I could handle that!!!
Take care!
-
Hey girlies,
Sorry I haven't been round much...just been super tired and super busy. I'm starting to get the hang of this whole business, but sometimes I feel like I'm not even "here" sorta thing, I dunno if that makes sense or not...
Blake's sleep patterns are usually like this at night: 7pm start feed, goes down at 8pm, wakes up around 1.30/2am for a feed, back to sleep at 2/2.30, then again at 5am, and sometimes goes back down after after this feed (usually if he's on my chest or next to me all snuggled up hehe I don't mind having one section of co-sleeping). So, he is getting much better! I think he is definitely on the mend, but will give him his antibiotics till the bottle is finished to protect him from anymore nasties. He is having his vaccinations on Saturday, I think this is going to throw a spanner in the works!
I'm going to try and keep up as best I can, thanks for all the concerns and encouragement, I know the AD's will kick in eventually and hopefully save me from this deep, dark place.
Love you all to bits, Ash xoxo
-
oh ash, good luck with the vaccinations. I thought it was awful and refuse to take him again. Hope Blake is fine
Someone asked if I go out every day? Yes I do! I have to otherwise Mason will not settle and wont let me put him down
-
Hi all!!!
I am so sorry I havent been around, the last few weeks have just been so crazy!! And not the easiest!!!
I will catch up, I promise!!! But for the moment, I have a question for you all!!!
Jade has been really good with her bottles and drinking them all like a good girl!! We started to get her up to 200ml a feed!! But the last 2 days she has droped down to 140ml... I just CANT get her to drink anymore!!!! Does anyone know if this is normale?! I mean, she is happy enough after she is finished, she will still go 4-5 hours between feeds so its not like she is still fussing cause she is hungry!!!
I do things to break it up a bit as well, like half way through we will stop and Ill burp her, talk to her for a bit, change her nappy then try give her the rest. But she just doesnt finish them off anymore :(
Ill ask my dr next week about it when I take her for her needles...... but thought untill then you girls might be able to ease my mind a bit!!
Hugs to all!!
Sorry about the selfish post... Im just lost....
-
Danni-I'm not going in with him when he gets his shots, Scott can hold him while I wait outside far far away so I can't hear the poor little fella! I wish I could go out everyday, Blake is such an angel when we're in public!
Ange-Don't worry sweetie, Blake takes random amounts too. Sometimes he'll take 100mL and fall asleep, sometimes he'll take over 200mL of AR formula and still be fussing about for more. As long as she's gaining weight, don't pay much attention to the amounts written on the can. 200mL per feed seems pretty huge for such a lil girl anyway, did yout GP tell you to give her that much? 140mL seems like a pretty decent amount per feed to me, if only Blake would take that amount instead of sometimes 220mL lol he takes forever!
-
ange: 140ml is plenty for her. Mason has only ever had as much as 190ml ONCE and he is 2 weeks older. So dont stress.
Good idea ash! hope it goes well.
-
I will attempt to catch up on personals but I don't know how long Noah is going to stay settled for, he stayed settled for my shower at least.. PHEW!!
Ange, like the other girls have said, don't worry about the Mls on the bottle, as long as she is gaining weight and seems happy to eat what she is eating it should not matter at all. There will be days when she wants to eat less like there are days she wants to eat more.
Ah ha the fussing starts already, that wasn't even 5 minutes. One handed typing for me
Ash, what you are saying makes perfect sense, I often feel like I am elsewhere and the body is on auto pilot. Don't worry about cleaning your house either, let your hubby do that for now and only do bits and bobs if you are up to it. We can't be expected to be super mums and housewives as much as we try. It will just make us suffer in the long run.
Kelly, I hope Luke was a good boy for you while you were at your mothers. Tara's tops are exactly what the LC talked about at the breastfeeding class and I hope they work for you. It is hard not to be discouraged when you are in pain but you are doing spledidly!
Danni, Yay on the bargains, you are super organized! I will have to check out the pics of Mason in his HAB later but that is great that he loves it!
Tan, that is great that Izzy is sleeping well for you, lets hope she keeps it up for you..If you hate winter in Melb then you will hate winter in Horsham  Tomorrow night is expected to be -1or2 Brrrr!!!
Tara, Hugs for when your IL's are there, it isn't easy when you have a hard time getting along with them. I didn't have a very good relationship with my ex husbands mother and it really put a strain on everything. Great that you got a rocking chair! It sounds divine! I will update on Noahs foot at the end, it is exciting news!!
Lis, sorry to hear Elena was not the best for you the other night. If the co sleeping works then stick with it if it doesn't bother you to do so. I gave up trying to settle Noah on his own and will try again when he is 3 months, it isn't worth me losing extra sleep over.
Sez, how was mothers group!! It is so great to get out and meet other mothers and be able to talk about everything you are going trough and being able to see the babies as well. When i visited Danni a few weeks back it was the first time I had been close to another baby in a very long time and it was great to say 'Oh Noah does that too!!' Now at mother group it gets to happen every week.
Well that is as far back as I can go for the moment, I know I missed a few people and I will try to review and catch up later when Noah is asleep, if he will sleep.
The appt went very well. The specialist saw Noah's foot and said that this would be his last cast before the tenotomy because his foot already looks so good after the one plaster! After the tenotomy (cutting the achillies) he will wear a plaster for 2 weeks and then I think he is fitted with a bar and boots but I don't know how long that is for as of yet. I am worried though because the girl who refered me to Dr Patel asked if i was told to fast Noah and I said no, she said I will get it in a letter more than likely. OMG I have to fast a baby for a local anistetic (sp) and be in the same car as him for 4 hours? I don't see how that is going to happen and it was my understanding that breastmilk digests in 1 1/2 hours so I might see what I can do to get around it :wall:
Well I think Noah wants to be entertained so I might indulge him, I will try to get on later!!
-
Sarah-If only DH would realise that! It makes it difficult because our house is up for sale so we have to have it looking spotless pretty much 24/7 because people come to inspect the property :( Ah well, that's life, no one said it was going to be easy! I'm happy cos now it's the weekend, Scott does the overnight feeds WHOO HOO I get to sorta sleep through. That is such wonderful news about Noah's foot...the tenotomy sounds painful, poor bubba, I'm sure they'll dose him up on painkillers though. FASTING A BABY? WTF?!?! Isn't that about the cruelest thing you can do? Definitely see if you can find a way around that, imagine how upset the poor tacker would be.
Ok guys Blake is being such a good boy! I put him in his cot today, chucked on his fisher Price Aquarium, and he put himself to sleep within 10 minutes. Whe I left the room, he was just looking around smiling, I went back in after 10 minutes and he was fast asleep lol what a little champ!
-
Hi girls!
Sarah - I agree with Ash- fasting??!!! and thats great news on the plaster too -what a little champ! Could you feed him halfway if they want him to fast for 2 hours or something?? Hope your entertaining went well!! -1??Thats snow weather!!
Ash- just make sure you do the bear mininum= you know, chuck stuff in cupboards that people dont open, sweep under rugs, make coffee to make the house smell homely etc!!!
Ange - I dont have any idea regarding bottle measurements as I have no idea how much milk she is getting out of my bbs but the advice the other girls have given you sounds great! If she is content, putting on weight, and weeing lots she will be fine! Hope it all helps hun!
Kelly - Hope Luke slept well for you at your mums place. I read your post in the bf thread too - you really have had such a rough time and I have to say you are soo strong perservering like you have. Heres hoping all the tips and hints and abs help and it all clears up for you.:crossfingers: Have you been able to get out and about at all to take your mind off things? I agree too - if they sleep at night thats great - although now we are getting days sort of sorted Isabelle woke for an extra feed last night :cryinglaugh: I swear if its not one thing its another!
Danni - yay on the bargains - god I wouldnt have a clue where to start, she will be 7 months old then - sitting up ??I guess!!
Big :hello: to everyone else!!
Well like I said - Isabelle got up for an extra feed last night - so the whole 6-7 hour stretch went out the window and back to 4 hourly! Oh well lucky I was still up..and she has just gone down for a nap - fingers crossed it lasts longer than 40minutes...
I love my girl so much and wouldnt change being a mummy for the world but does anyone else have these feelings of "is this it?" That sounds reallllly bad but I just have these bad days wondering that this is my life - at home, doing housework and not much else. Maybe I need a hobby - I know that I should be thankful that I have so much paid maternity leave and make the most of not having to go back to work until next year but still.....I think Im majorly bored. Does that sound terrible? Im sick of Dr Phil.:cryinglaugh:
Also cracked it with Al this morning - I put her back to sleep at 630- he left at 720 and while getting ready for work - i said - please be a little bit quiet I really want to see if she will sleep....well after stomping around in his boots and "accidently"slamming the front door twice on his way out she was up again at 730. I sent a not very nice sms to him - I know it wasnt deliberate but I feel a little like I do absolutely EVERYTHING and he really doesnt get how hard its been to get her to sleep during the day....
Plus- my c/s has healed really well but the last 2 days Ive had really bad stretching pain again... Im sure I havent over done anthing I dont remember lifting something heavy - other than my little boofah....(she must be close to 5kg now!)... very annoying.
Grrrrr (Slap self on wrist) really sorry to be such a downer ladies - Im really ok - just having a few sh****y days.
Hope you all have a great one!
Talk later
-
great news sarah! Noah and Mason will be running around chasing each other in no time!
Tan: yep our bubs will be sitting up openeing presents this year ;) I got Mason a learning table from fisher price and a chicken dance Elmo. Not sure what Santa is gunna buy him :cryinglaugh: I forgot about being santa till my sister reminded me yesterday!
Well Mason cleaned up at the baby show again today! A trophy and 3 ribbons. He slept well in the car and again at the doctors. As well as a bad cold, I now have a middle ear infection as well! But on a good note, the doctor got a special clearance for me to get mottilium (for increasing my breast milk supply) so now i get double for the same price as before!
-
Sarah - that's good news about Noah's foot maybe only needing one more cast. Fasting him doesn't sound like fun at all, but the reaction he may have after having an anaesthetic with food in his tummy would be soooo much worse. Definitely see what the absolute shortest fasting time you can do is.
Danni - Mason is going to have to start charging appearance money soon! Sorry to hear about your ear infection - hope it clears up soon. Why the medication to increase your milk supply- I thought you were getting heaps and heaps? Sorry if I've missed something.
Tan - I know exactly how you feel. Its not horrible at all. We've all gone from being completely in control of our own lives to now having absolutely no control whatsoever - this tiny little being governs when we can do absolutely everything. A friend asked me recently what I had been doing and my response was "left boob, right boob, and that's about it". A long way from the life I used to have that's for sure!
Ange - I was told between 120 to 150mls for bubbies at this age so that sounds fine.
Ash - yay for Blake doing better with his sleeping. With your house, can you maybe live in a small portion of it so you only have to clean a minimal amount? Keeping a house spick and span for inspections is so hard but I really think we put too much pressure on ourselves - just make sure your bathroom and kitchen look good (that's what us girlies look at after all!). So glad to hear things are looking up a bit for you otherwise though. Good luck with Blake's vaccinations tomorrow - Izzy's are next Tuesday and I'm really not looking forward to it.
Tara - good luck with your ILs. I hope its not too difficult for you. Can you maybe get them more involved with your bigger kiddies so you don't have the stress of them with Leo? Or maybe tell a little white lie about what you're trying to do to get him into a routine, and it means cuddles with other people are really limited? Hard with grandparents though.
Kelly - you're doing so well persevering. I really hope the mastitis clears up soon and goes away for ever (OMG Tara with that many recurrences!). How did Luke go at your mum's last night? Let me know if you want to catch up for a coffee and a chat - I'm happy to come to you if you're not able to drive yet.
Lis - how's Elena going? It is so frustrating isn't it when you know the little cherubs are exhausted and want to go to sleep, but have such pain when you lie them on their backs. I managed to get Izzy down for an afternoon nap yesterday but only because I propped her bassinet up so she was lying on a 50 degree angle.
After three straight days where Izzy was screaming all day every day in my arms and not going to bed until really late, the last two days have been brilliant. She's in bed asleep by 7pm at night, sleeps until 2am ish, feeds, goes straight back down, another feed at 6.30 am and then asleep again until 10.30 am. I'm crossing absolutely everything that she stays like this at least for a few days - I've really been struggling and desperately need some sleep to catch up and get myself back in control a little bit emotionally. DH is taking the week of golf so hopefully Izzy will stick to the plan and let her mummy and daddy have a nice relaxing lazy morning together.
Have a good weekend everybody. To Sarah especially - try to stay warm!!!
-
Thats the hardest part! My sister lives downastairs and we live upstairs....so i have to make sure the whole house is clean :(
Hope all the mummies and bubs are having a restful night!
-
hey lulu: I did have a big supply but had a down couple of days so I started taking Motillium....and now if I try to stop taking them, my supply drops dramatically. So it looks like i will need to take it for a while .
ash: hope you were up at that time just for one feed!
We had a great night. Mason fed at 8pm, in bed at 9pm, woke at 3:30am for his feed, back down straight away and then up at 7:30am for his feed. He is still awake but thats not unusual.
-
Thank you so much girls!!! Makes me feel so much better! And like Erin said to me yesterday, when for that period of time she was drinking 200ML it could have just been a growth spurt. So I have cut her bottles back down to 150ml for the time being and she is drinking them!! So that’s something!!
We had a really big day yesterday! Went to visit Jade’s godmother (Erin) got to her place about 11:30 then last night Justins boss took everyone out for dinner and they insisted we take Jade cause they all wanted to see her, we got home she had her last bottle and went to sleep about 11pm. But with everything going on she would have probably only slept 2 hours yesterday!!! And surprisingly she was really well behaved! I thought we would have a screaming over tired baby on our hands but she just grizzled now and again! Im so happy with how she went!!!
Ash - Hope your doing well today after Scott took over last night! We have the same thing here, Justin takes over the nights on the weekend so I can just have a break and a sleep in!! Did you get my text message this morning?
Danni - You sounds like me with the Christmas shopping!!! Target and Kmart are having there big toy sales coming up, I know Kmarts starts on the 5th July so Ill be heading out to that early and putting some Christmas pressies for all the kids in the family on layby!! I already have my mum and dads Christmas presents in my wardrobe!!
Glad to hear you and Mason had a good night last night!!!
Sarah - Yeah Id definitely see about trying to get around the fasting if you can!!! Poor little thing, cant imagine he would be a very happy camper if they want him to fast…. Let us know how you go!!
Tan - I hear you on cracking it with DH. And feeling as thought you have to do EVERYTHING!!! I sometimes feel like Justin doesn’t get how much hard work it is, to get them to sleep and not have them wake up again, or even things like trying to get ready to go out!!! Like last night, I said to him, please can you jump in the shower so I can put Jade in with you quickly so then I can get her dressed and ready and then myself. He kept putting it off and putting it off. Eventually I said to him, do you think this is a joke? You need to realise it takes longer for us to do things now its NOT just US anymore!!! Sometimes I just don’t think they are really thinking about what we are saying, lol!!
Lulu - Glad Izzy has gotten better the last couple of days!! And I hope she also sticks to the plan so you and DH can have some relaxing mummy daddy time!! I miss how easy it used to be just for Justin and I to have us time!! Now it’s a matter of trying to work it into the day where we can!!
Ok well that’s the best I have a the moment for personals!!! I need to REALLY try to sort this place out!! Having a bbq tonight with Erin and her DH. SO, need to get sorted! And Miss Jade will be up in about another hour for a feed!! So best I try get on top of it!!!
Hugs to all!! And hope all the mums and bubs are having a nice day :D :D
