Hi ladies,
Sarah - hope you and Noah are doing ok - hopefully the Nurofen helped hun and keep up the fluids and rest. Big :hugs:to you both.
Danni - how is Mason today?? Hope the colic isnt too bad big hugs to the little man.:hugs:
Alex - sounds like you are doing really well - 8-8!! Whoo hoo!
Mel - Im really not sure - definatley sounds like Bella has her night and day mixed up, Im not sure how you go about changing it other than the usual of making sure days are bright and loud etc. and night quiet and dark... Can you ask your MCHN? they may be able to help you with ideas for readjusting her routine so its the other way around? Sorry not much help am I - glad you are coping ok though and make sure you get your rest.
Hello other mummies -big hugs to you all!
Well my MG was great - about 13 of us - one girl has twin boys!! So cute but man you need an extra pair of hands constantly, not sure how she does it! Actually shes had her mum here for 4 weeks and her MIL is taking 7 weeks off work to help out!
Anyway I had a freak out today - Izzy has had some blood in her poo:( It was streaky and mucousy looking which can apparantly be ok - but Im going to see our GP this arvo. She is happy as usual and not grizzly and no temp so fingers crossed its just a one off...
It was our 4 yr wedding anniversary yesterday so hoping to go out for dinner tonight - its a bit wet and cold out though ...ggrrrrrr. Ah well might just order in..
Well better go hang up the washing - catch you lovely ladies later!!
-
Ash - we must have hit post at the same time! Yay for little Blake hun - its such a relief when they are stacking on the weight and growing so beautifully isnt it!! I was just saying how Izzy has lost her newborn look now and I cant believe how time is just flying by!
Glad you popped in !!

Hi everyone. Sorry - don't have time to catch up with everyone now. I've been down south with my mum and step-dad over the last few days and yesterday went to a chiropractor come naturopath come kineseologist (sp?) come witch doctor!! He has basically said that my diet is wrong for me, and hence wrong for Izzy. He has suggested either changing my diet radically or putting her on soy formula. He also did a bit of manipulation of Izzy's body (said it would align her spine and rid her body of the toxins from my milk). Not prepared to say at this point it has solved everything but having been on the formula since yesterday lunchtime she has gone from screaming all day without any sleeps and without being able to be put down at all, to barely crying at all today and she had a nap in her cot this afternoon. He said in 3 days I would have a new baby. I can't tell you how relieved I am at the improvement and I'm crossing everything it is going to solve her problems. I'm still expressing milk in case its just a coincidence and am going to a paediatrician on Thursday as well for his opinion so will wait and see.
Will try to catch up tomorrow - hope Noah's feeing better Sarah and Mason is getting some sleep with his colic.

Hello!!
I know I say this every time but I'm so sorry I haven't been around much and I won't even try to keep up right now!! We've had the busiest couple of weeks, out and about all the time, and I've hardly even turned on my computer!! It's been crazy but great fun. I've been a little exhausted from it all but its so great to be able to get out. Luke is just wonderful in that regard. He's so easy going and adjusting well to being all over the place!!
Anyway I just had to pop in and share some very exciting news - Luke has slept for over 6 hours the last two nights in a row!! AND, it's finally been at the right time. I've been feeding him a little more regularly in the evening with quite a bit of play time, then feeding again at about 8.30pm, then putting him straight down. Amazingly, he's sleeping until about 3.30am!! I've also been going straight to bed after the 8.30pm feed, so I've had 6 hours sleep both nights!!! He's also going back down after the 3.30am feed and waking at 7am! Its great and I feel like a new person. Best of all, he had his immunisations yesterday and it didn't affect his day or night - thank god!!! I was a little worried but it was a lot less traumatic than I expected. Anyway, I do have a quick question - now that Luke has started sleeping a bit longer, I'm waking with really sore and full boobs. Last night, they leaked all over my pjs and the bed (and I even had breast pads in). I've actually been getting up just before Luke has woken and expressing some milk to relieve them as poor Luke is drowning when I feed him, but I'm worried this will just keep the milk production up. It's really painful and I dread to think what will happen if he starts sleeping longer and am actually worried that I'm waking him when I get up! Any suggestions would be appreciated, I'm hoping it might settle down???
Lulu - Great news about Izzy honey - lets hope you've found the right solution and everything will be smooth sailing from here!! We've still got to try and find the time to catch up too!!!
Tan - I hope everything is ok, let us know how you went at the doctor!
Sorry for the selfish post but my little man is ready for another feed!!
Take care.

Kelly , I think the way to release some milk without stimulating production is to let some out for 30 seconds from start of letdown. Great work on getting more sleep!!!
-
Hi girls!
Just popping in, I've been so busy today and have to head out again soon as I'm helping to set up for my brothers engagement party tonight.
Lulu fingers crossed that Izzy has started to settle for you hun. I actually popped in to let you know that I have had Elena on formula for the last 4 days and she is so so much better, I can' t believe it. It seems that something in my milk must be upsetting her?? Anyhow yesterday I reintroduced BM but only a little mixed in with the formula and I'm hoping that soon she will be able to have maybe half BM and half formula. I'll let you know how she goes. I have her on NAN HA as I've been told its the closest to BM and she seems to love it.
Danni hugs for you and Mason and I hope he gets over his colic soon. Poor thing I know exactly what its like!
Ash yay for little Blakey, wow he is a big boy now. Elena weighs 5.18kg and is 56.6cm long now, still has a bit of catching up to do to get to Blake's size lol!
Tan glad you enjoyed your MG, I love mine as well!
Ok sorry must go, I'll try to pop back in tomorrow to catch up with everyone else! Take care all and sending some lovely sleep vibes to all the bubs that need it!

Hi girls - a very quick one here - will BBL..
Took Izzy to the Dr yesterday - turns out she might have an anal fissure - bless her socks, and Ive been told to just watch her poo too see if there is anymore blood. The Dr gave me sample jars to send off to be tested if there is...so far there was only one tiny speck in two of her poos - not enough to send off - I can just imagine them saying - WTF there is nothing here but poo!
The other possiblities are that she is pushing out her poo fast and hard (um quite possible after her shot at me the other day!) or that she is constipated? Not sure she would be with soft runny poos though!??
Big relief but anyway enough from me about bums and poo - back later!.....
-
Lis - I'm so happy for you that Elena is doing so well on the formula. Its such a relief to see them improve isn't it. Izzy has been a new baby. She is now having morning and afternoon naps (completely unheard of!!) and yesterday I sat in a cafe with a girlfriend having brunch and she lay in her pram dozing on and off when she wasn't looking around and smiling at everyone. I could have sat and cried watching her I was just so relieved. Is the formula you have Elena on a soy? I was told to put Izzy on the Karricare soy and so far so good although it truly stinks when she burps!! Good luck with getting Elena back on some level of BM. I'm really conflicted as to what to do about that - Izzy is just so much better on formula but I really miss breastfeeding (amazing since I didn't think I enjoyed it before I wasn't doing it!!) and I would prefer her to be BF if possible. Will see what the paediatrician says on Thursday about doing something along the lines of what you're doing- I'm just terrified I'll send her back to where she was and I never want to see her like that again.
Tan - poor little Izzy's bottom. Hopefully its nothing serious and is fixed up soon - LOL at the shooting poo though!
Hi to everyone else. I hope all you mums and bubbies are enjoying the weekend - beautiful weather here.
-
Lulu I'm so happy for you and little Izzy, it sounds like she has improved so much. No I don't have Elena on soy, Nan HA is a cows milk formula. I've been reintroducing some EBM into her bottles (1/4 BM and 3/4 formula) and so far she is still doing well. Tomorrow I'm going to try and add a little more EBM and see how she goes. I know what you mean about missing breast feeding, I'm exactly the same. I'm hoping she will continue to do well so that at least she is still getting some BM.
Tan lol at the shooting poos, that's a neat party trick! Hope its nothing serious and gets fixed up soon.
Gotta go, time for a feed again. How often does everyone feed their bubs?? Some days we are back to doing 2 hourly feeds and today is one of those days. BBL I hope!
-
I only have a few minutes for personals so I will try to get as many done as possible....
Lis - I feed every 30min to an hour in the day but every 2 at night, we did have a 3 hour stint last night of sleep though, I hope that is a sign of good things to come. I'm glad to hear the re-introducing the emb is going smoothly so far.
Lulu - That is fantastic that you are making progress with Izzy, I need this chiropractor!!! Let us know what the Paed says!
Tan - Big cuddles to Izzy, I hope she isn't in pain. lmao shooting poo
Kelly - Does the 30 second release help for you? Are you using a routine in a book for Luke? If so, which one? I was thinking about buying The No Cry Sleep Solution, I am desperate for some kind of pointers...
I knew I only had a few minutes grrrr!! He has fed 3 times in the last hour and now he is crying again, what is up??? Hello to all the other yummy mummies! Hope you have had a great weekend!!!
Dinner then bed for me, i have MG tomorrow :confetti:
-
lulu and kelly, i am meeting up at carousel on friday 10th of august at 11am! hope you guys can come..xxxx
-
Sorry about the long rambling replies!.....
Sarah - saw your other post hun - fingers crossed that you can get Noah into some kind of routine - it might take a while but it will be worth it. When i was getting Izzy used to settling for her daytime sleeps it would often take longer to settle her than she would sleep - once it took me 45 mins to settle her and she slept for 20 minutes :cryinglaugh: Now she goes down pretty much straight away - I often dont even have to go back in once Ive put her down. It took me a while to identify those tired signs etc that Barb was talking about but now its really obvious. If Im at home she will feed roughly every 3 hours and she will be up for about 1 1/2 hours... I do a play, feed, sleep routine, but it often shifts to feed play -etc depending on how long shes up for etc. Im sure you will be able to get Noah into a routine where he feeds for longer periods and with longer time between - it might just take a bit of time....phhhewwww - sorry should have posted this in your other thread, sorry babe!
Lis - hope Elena is doing well and reintroducig the ebm is working too hun. Izzy is usually 3 hourly during the day - can go up to 4 if we are out, and then in the evening its nearly hourly until she goes to sleep. She does then sleep for 8 hours though and then 4 hours ...
Lulu - sounds like Izzy is thriving hun, and its sounds like you are both alot more content and happier. I know what you mean about the bfing though - I havent loved it but I think i would be the same. Im glad y ou can have some time out and enjoy your little girl! Enjoy the weather too - send it this way please!
Kelly - yay for Luke!! I hear you on the bbs! Izzy has been sleeping between 6 -8 hours for a few weeks now and my bbs have adjusted. Ihave to admit that if it is a 6 hour block Im full not engorged, if its closer to 8 hours Im still pretty sore though, and we have had 2 10 hour blocks (both on a Saturday night??) and thats been terrible! Anyway I asked the LC about what to do because I was getting up before a feed to ease the pain too, she advised that because IZzy goes to bed early (630-7) that i should express before I go to bed if Im feeling full so that Im not engorged by the time she wakes and also so Im not expressing just before she feeds- if Im not - jsut to leave it as my body will adjust. Well its been about 4-5 weeks that she has been sleeping like this and they have adjusted but its been slow.... Hope this rambling on has helped! Glad the immunisations didnt affect him either hun- did you give him panadol or anything before you went?? Im not sure whether to do that or not. Oh forgot to mention too - Izzy only feeds on one side per feed so I put a cloth nappy under my boob to catch the milk from the other side when shes feeding = that helps relieve the other side too.
Ash - hope you and your gorgeous growing boy are doing well!!
Alex, Tara, Rae, Mel, Mel, Sez, Kristen, Lee, Michelle, Danni, Dan and lots of others i think I have missed - hugs to you all!!
So we think its funny that I got s*at on do we!!:p It wasnt funny - it was 6 in the morning and I wasnt in the mood to clean up poo from everywhere!!
Well busy weekend here - went to the country to visit the IL's whcih was good! Back to poo again -sorry! Izzy has only had a tiny bit of blood in her poo again today - hardly any really, will check with the MCHN tomorrow and back to the Dr on Wednesday - so hopefully it will have cleared up completely by then.
Well Im tired - off to bed and hope you all get a good nights rest!
-
Sounds good to me Danni. Where abouts at Carousel??
Sarah- you feed that often? How long does Noah feed for? You must be exhausted you poor thing.
-
Hi everyone, sorry I've been MIA  We're just really busy here, especially now that I'm back to normal! I had my first drive yesterday WOOHOO! We've got needles tomorrow and I'm seriously dreading it, I really hope he copes okay. He's got himself into the most marvellous rountine, don't ask me how cos I didn't do anything! I'm just worried that the vaccinations will stuff everything up! I'm loving my sleep until 8 or 9am!
I hear you guys on the sore bbs in the morning! Especially now that I'm taking Motilium (which certainly seems to be working!) I'm very full in the morning! And since I always change his nappy first (I have to cos he's been in it for so long!) they always leak when he starts to cry on the change table!
Oh, he's stirring for his last feed, I'd better dash!
Love to all, Sez xoxo
-
Sarah - I hope Noah starts to go longer between feeds for you. I thought every 2 hours was bad! You must be exhausted you poor thing. Sending you some hugs babe!
Tan - yay for no more bloody poos, that must have been scary. Good luck at the doctors but it sounds like everything is ok with your Izzy now?!
Sez- woo hoo for your first drive! And good luck for the needles too, hope your little man is ok afterwards. We had our injections last week and Elena was fine, it didn't affect her at all. In fact she came home and slept for 8 hours lol. She had never done that before and hasn't done it since, think she got a shock the poor little thing!
Hi to everyone else, I'm off to do some washing whilst little Miss is asleep.
Have a great day all!
-
Hi Ladies.
Danni - Sounds fine to me too, how exciting!! Just remind me closer to the day and let me know where to meet you at Carousel?? Are there many people coming along??
Sarah - You poor thing, feeding so regularly - what a hungry little monkey you have!! My SIL is in the same boat as you, feeding all the time during the day but she's getting a lot more sleep at night, so it's not too much of an issue for her! We're not really following any routines, just trying to do the whole feed, play, sleep thing like Tan and it is working. Although I still have trouble getting Luke down during the day, some days he's fine and others he just keeps fighting it. I'm finding he needs the dummy for his day sleeps, which I don't like but hay, whatever works!!
Tan - Thanks so much for the advice, it's definitely encouraging to know that it's all settled down for you - we seem to have had very similar experiences with the whole bf thing, so it's giving me hope!!! I'll have to try expressing before going to bed and see if that helps! No, I didn't give Luke anything before his needles and he was fine. My doctor asked the nurse to come in too and they gave him both needles at the same time - it was great and he only cried for a minute and then he was fine!!
Sez - How did you go today?? The immunisations didn't affect Luke either, so I'm sure all will be fine!!
Lulu and Lis - I'm sooo pleased that things have improved for you both - well done!!
That's about all I have time for, I'm just so impressed that I managed some personals for once!! I do try to keep up but its all very hard right now!! We have a very busy day tomorrow with some friends, then Mothers group again on Wednesday - it's all happening!!
I have one more question for you all - Luke has started to refuse my right boob - the one I've had all the problems with. He just keeps screaming and pulling off it but when I put him on the other side, he's fine. Cheeky monkey!! I've expressed from this side and it appears to all be fine - flowing really well and all that. Milk is dripping out of it all the time (much like the other side) so I just don't understand what the problem is. I know they can favour one side but this is getting a bit beyond that - has anyone else had this problem???
Better go hang the washing out!!
Take care.
Kelly xxx

Phewww the little monster is sleeping, if only he would do that at night!!!
Kelly - Noah really is a hungry boy, can you believe I had a woman tell me today that she had her 6 week old on solids because he was such a big eater, that was 30 to 40 years ago! Not sure I am game to try it but it does sound tempting sometimes. Wish I could help you with the breast refusal issue, how frustrating for you, hopefully someone can help.
Lis- Thanks for the hugs, I need them today, I did get a few spaces in between feeds though, just lacking in sleep. Hope your day was good!
Sez - How did the needles go? I have mine tomorrow and I am seriously dreading it. Excellent on the driving, I bet you are happy to have your freedom back!
Lulu - It isn't easy :wall: From what I have tracked, his average time eating is 10 mins so I would say he is snacking unless he is super efficient at the sucking. Hope your day went well!
Tan - I hope Izzy's nappies have been looking better today. I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and really persist with settling otherwise it will never happen. I will see what this new book I got suggests.
Hello to all the lovely mummies that I have missed!!!
After my post last night I decided to start tracking his feeds and we got a few long stretches over the night and today. Here is what it looks like...
12:10am-12:15am One side
3:00am-3:15am Both sides
5:30am-5:40am Both sides
6:55am-7:00am Comfort suck I am guessing.
7:32am-7:47 Both sides but kept on screaming and pulling off the whole time
8:44am-8:58am Both sides
11:05am-11:25am Both sides
12:18pm-12:41pm Both sides with a long burp session in the middle
Heres the real winner of the day, the longest space ever since born...
4:30pm-4:46pm Both sides
He is sleeping now and I am interested in how long until the next feed.
How long should I let him sleep now if I want to try to get a long sleep tonight?
I am really at my wits end today and I have had 4 lattes today to stay awake and I bet it's going to really throw a spanner in the works for sleep tonight. I did buy 'Sleep Right, Sleep Tight' Not sure how it is but if it works I will let you all know.
Ok well off to make dinner and clean, I have been out all day and tomorrow Noah has his needle so I am sure it will be he!! day tomorrow for me and I won't get a chance to do anything.
-
lulu and kelly, there will probably be 10 of us max? we will meet at the bottom of the stairs that come from the cinemas. does that make sense?? i have no idea lol
:hello: to everyone else. I have a huge migraine. Mason is veryunhappy...been upset all day. Even screaming in his sleep. be back tomorrow for personals xx
