Dan- I alternate her play times with me talking, reading a book or just making silly faces to make her smile and chat. Then I give her time in her cot with her mobile on, in her bouncer (occasionally with ABC Kids on - gasp shock horror! She actually loves teletubbies unfortunately - I find them disturbing!) or on her floor play mat! Shes up for and hour and a half to 2 hours and only sleeps for hour at a time so I cant entertain her the whole time plus I think its good for her to explore things on her own too - I tend to get distracted and jsut watch her alot of the time in between cooking cleaning washing and reading Harry Potter!!
lulu - whoo hoo!! So pleased for you!
Izzy likes tummy time for a short (a fe minutes max) - only if she is wide awake and a while after feeding. Other times she last about 10 secs before burying her head in hands and cracks it!
-
Just uploaded some more pics onto Luke's website if anyone is interested. I did it really quickly but think I got most of the good one's on there!!! We're going nuts with photos at the moment!!
Sorry, don't have time for anything else now but will try to pop back in later today!!

hey guys!!
Lulu and kelly...we are coming in 2 weeks! dont forget :D
Look at luke on his tummy! im so jealous. Mason refuses it..he hates it and he cries so much. poor bubba
love you all xx
-
Kelly, Luke is ADORABLE!!!! Blake likes tummy time and so does Luke by the looks of things! The last photo is my absolute favourite, what a cutey patootey!
There are always new pics on my site of Master Blake so keep checking :D
-
Danni - definitely won't forget. I'm looking forward to it now that I can bring a happy baby with me, rather than the devil's spawn that she resembled a couple of weeks ago!!
Kelly -great photos. Luke's a little buddha - he's so cute.
-
Kelly and Ashley the photos of your boys are just gorgeous. They are so cute.
-
Hello!!
Yeah, Luke's loving tummy time atm. He hated it to start with and used to just spew and then cry but lately he's started coming around. He still spews almost every time we put him on his tummy (actually, he spews ALL the time, so its nothing different) but seems to still like it!! I'm so proud of my little man and just love some of the pics we've been managing to get lately. I've taken HUNDREDS!!!
Danni - Yay, only two weeks until you're visit. How exciting. Don't forget to remind me next week of all the details - I'm so terrible!!
Lulu - I'm so glad that things are going so well for you babe, it's just fantastic!! You're definitely doing the right thing and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!
Ash - I love the pics of Blake - especially the cute little bum shot!!! How adorable.
Dan - Luke is really good at sleeping when we're out and about, just not at home in his cot!!! He's a little monkey but he's sleeping pretty well at night, so no complaints!! As for the play time, we do a bit of each. I try and spend some time playing with him and give him time on his own. This morning, he was going nuts on his own, just looking up at his mobile above the cot - I could hear him chatting away from the other end of the house (and we've got quite a big house)!!! It's just the greatest atm, he's so happy and talkative (sp?). How did mothers group go??
Sarah - Good on you for having a night out!! I don't think I could handle it atm!!! I couldn't imagine anything worse than having a hangover and having to look after a bub!!
Big hello's to everyone else - sorry for the lack of personals - I'm REALLY tired today. I've been out at Mum's all day catching up with some family friends who have just had babies too - it was great but I'm really tired for some reason!! Luke is still sleeping well at night, but instead of the 6-7 hours he was going between feeds, its now 4-5 hours again, so the extra couple of hours I was getting have gone, just as I was getting used to them!!! He'll have one longer stint and then he's back to three hourly!! It's crazy!
I've also had BIG problems with feeding from the right boob again today - just when I thought he was over it. He really spat it this morning at Mums and then when I finally gave up and swapped him onto the left boob (after trying to force him for ages), he sucked like mad!! It's really strange.
Anyway must go get some rest before my cheeky monkey wakes up - then I've got to work out what we're having for dinner - ahh, it never ends!!

Wow it's so quiet in here. Hope everyone is okay just busy.
-
Yep Dan, just busy here!
Hope all mums and bubs are ok.
-
Lack of sleep and busy here too, my to do list is 4 pages long :crying:
-
Oh Sarah, tell me about it. I've given up on a list, even a mental one, just the thought of everything that needs to be done scares the bejesus outta me!
-
Yep so busy here too! Sorry I've been MIA but my DH has been away for work so I have had to do everything myself. Makes me realise how tough single mums have it!
Love to you all, think of you all the time and hope all the bubs are doing well.
Lulu so glad things are going well for you and Izzy, you definitely made the right decision. Things going well for me too, so good that our bubbas are now so happy!
-
I'm trying to get the housework done but everything seems to working against me. Olivia is grizzly and I'm having trouble settling her today, it's raining so I can't hang out my washing and now my vacuum cleaner has blown up. Some days you just can't win so I'm sitting down having a cuppa and reading my book.
I'll get to the housework later.
-
Wow, it has been quite in here!! Yeah, we've just been really busy too. Today is the first day that I don't have anything planned - thank god!!! We do have a friend coming over for dinner, but that shouldn't be too difficult - at least I don't have to go out anywhere!!!
I do have to get the housework done too though - my god Dan, what a nightmare. You're definitely not meant to get the housework done today, so sit back and enjoy your book!!! I kind of hope the world is against me too - I just hate cleaning the house and can't wait for some sunshine again!!! Luke has been really spewy lately and we've got sooo much washing. I'm sick of putting the dryer on and having washing hanging up all through the house!!!!
Anyway, better go get started while Luke is asleep - it doesn't last long for us during the day!!!
Take care.

-
Yep, same still here. Just terrible with reading everything, Leo is still feeding all the time and having no day sleeps. Hates his tummy too.
Quick question girls - what did you do? Rotavirus vaccine - yes/no? (we got it yesterday)
-
Warning *vent ahead*
Sorry to offload on you busy mummies but I know of all people you will understand.
I was at my mum and dads last night and Al was talking about how much time I spend on the computer every day. I was saying how I do but I spend most of the time BB. Anyway my BIL asked how long every day - and I said that I basically have the computer on most of the day, not that Im on it all day but as I do housework and stuff with Izzy I chat on msn with a friend and then inbetween other stuff I look at forums etc on BB. Well he was really shocked and basically without saying it - said Get a life"! :(
Now Ive been feeling pretty housebound and kind of bored for a while but I know I want to be home with my girl and there is no way Im going back to work for a while. I also tried to explain that BB is where Ive had support and help with Izzy especially as lots of my friends are pg now and not when I was and Ive learned so much on here-its not like Im gambling or something IYKWIM - it could be a whole lot worse!;)
I also spend most of time with our girl, the house is always spotless, clothes are washed etc. - I dont neglect any of that to be on here but he made me feel like s*** and that Im a bad computer addicted mum. I know I should just ignore it - Al jokingly gives me a hard time but I know he doesnt really mind and he knows I would go crazy without this place. Grrrrrrrrrr - I get along really well with my sister and BIL - they are actually conducting our dedication service for Izzy - so I know I should just ignore it - he doesnt really get it but hes just made me feel bad. Dan Im gonna take a note out of your book and have a coffee and watch Dr Phil while Izzy naps.
Thanks for reading ladies - glad to hear you are all well- but busy!! We have baby massage at MG today - looking forward to some calming fun times with other mums and my bubby.
Will catch you all soon.
Tara- love your pic of Leo -sooo gorgeous - and I got the rotavirus for Izzy last week. It was before the thread about it came up - I still think that the effects of a bad gastro attack (or any other immunised disease) would be worse than a TEENY TINY % possibility of a complication. Huge issue and decision though hey. Hope he was ok with it all too hun.
-
Theres a complication risk with the vacc? I wasn't told that! Oh well, better to avoid gastro if possible. Noah had it anyway.
Tan, what is worse? Sitting watching soap operas all day or leaving a computer on all day occasionally having a chat to a supporting network. I know which one Juz would rather have me doing. It's no one else's business what you do all day anyway unless it is causing harm to someone.
Dan, enjoy your relaxing, stuff the housework!
How good would a massage be girls? Well, back to the chores ugh! I am trying to be domestic goddess but it is not happening. Try to be on later!!
-
I've just been out having Izzy vaccinated (thought I'd better "put my money where my very big mouth was!!!"). Tasted yucky but she seems fine. Will keep a close eye on her over the next 24 hours
Tan - your BIL is a wally and obviously has no idea of how hard it is being a mummy. This is without doubt far more challenging and demanding that my previous life in a law office!! I agree with you too - BB is great for support and advice and sometimes MSN is the only way we get to keep in contact with friends. I know every time I reach for the phone it ends up being a bad time - so much easier to do it online.
Ooooh a massage. How lovely. Dream dream dream . . .
-
Well, I'm very pleased to say that I've successful done most of the housework and I do feel much better. The house was a mess!! Luke was such a good boy for me too - he actually had a good hour and a half sleep (which is unheard of during the day). So it was really easy to get most of it done. Even vacuumed around him while he was sleeping!!! Then I mopped while he was chatting away to himself in his swing!!! He's been a dream today and I'm feeling so fantastic!!! I wish I could get him to be like this every day, how great would that be???
Oh yeah, a massage would be just the greatest right now. I'm having a lot of trouble with my back, shoulders and neck. Luke is just too heavy for me now and I must have a really bad posture or something, coz it really kills and I have headaches nearly every day. Not nice. I think I might have to go see a physio.
Tan - Sending you lots of big hugs!! How rude of your BIL. I know its hard but try not to let it get to you.
Bugger, Luke has woken and I only put him down about 15 minutes ago!! After such a long sleep this morning, I think it might be a long afternoon!!! Can't complain though!!
Talk soon.

Hi All!
Sorry I have been absent, we have had no internet because our modem blew up! It almost killed me not having any internet! Surprising how much I rely on it, had bills and stuuf to pay and had no internet banking!! Was bidding on stuff on e-bay so couldn't track it all, and then I get on BB and everyone has been madly posting!!!
My Harry Potter book is still lying around unread, I just don't seem to ever have 5mins to pick it up! So Dan, no I haven't read Harry, but I haven't done any housework either!! Have been out almost everyday with stuff on. Our Target here are just putting out all there summer range of clothing, and there are some beautiful kids clothes. I am going to have to go back to work if I don't stop spending money!! Have to say much nicer girls clothes than boys, lucky I have 2 girls also!! But they do have some nice baby boy sets with overalls and cute matching denim hats!! I am so naughty!!
Tara, about the rota vaccine, I think it is a good idea. Having rota can really knock little kids around, it is pretty vicious as far as a gastro bug goes, and normally results in hospitalisation. Angus hasnt had his needles yet, Monday I will go to child health and get them done. I reallly need to get my 3 yr old the chicken pox vaccine, am not looking forward to that, she will scream the whole place down!! Gets so much worse as they get older!!
Glad Angus isn't the only bubba who hates his belly time, he cracks it!! Kelly, how cute is Luke, and look at how stong he is holding his head up!!
Sarah, I'm hearing you about the drinking factor!! I have my 10 yr school reunion next Sat and really want to have a few drinks, but after having had no alcohol in so long I will prob make a fool of myself!!! Also will have to express I spose to give Angus EBM with no alcohol, don't think I could bother with all the hassle!! Will see, might have a couple, DH doesn't drink so he is the designated driver anyway!
Anyway, I better go! Just put Angus back to bed, so have to iron school uniforms and stuff while he is asleep! Also have to pick up his hand and feet casts today, am so excited cause I had them casted when he was a week old, so no doubt they will look tiny compared to now!
See-ya,
*Michelle*
-
OMG! Just thought I would share how excited I am cause I finally worked out how to put my bubba's photo on ticker!! Had to reduce photo quality and finally there is my little man!! Yay!! That photo was taken at 6 weeks, he looks so huge!! Anyway, just thought I would share my excitement!!
*Michelle* (now I better do that ironing!!)
-
What is this oral vaccination you speak of? I was not offered this and didn't even know it exsisted? Must ask my CHN today...
-
Ashlee- it was introduced for babies born after 1st May 2007, :( Babies born before that can get it through your GP but will have to pay for it and I think its about $100+ per dose and there are 2 or 3 dosages.
-
That sux doesn't it how some babies miss out on free vaccines cause of birth date. I have to pay for the chicken pox for my daughter cause she missed out. My eldest got chicken pox when she was 11 months and it was horrible. She was miserable and was almost put in hosp cause she couldn't eat, had high fevers constantly, and soo lethargic, was just awful. And she also has some nasty scars, how do you tell an 11mth old not to scratch!!! Anyway, I am really bored today but should prob do some housework!! Am not going out today now as my 8 yr old woke up with sore throat and sad so staying home now. Might try and convince everyone to have a nap later so I can too!!
*Michelle*
-
no wonder i never heard of it...
-
Its really not fair that they limit free vaccines to birth dates. If they're a good idea to have, then every bubby should have them for free. Izzy just scraped in, and had she not she would have had them anyway, but I'm lucky enough that $100 for a vaccine is not going to leave us really short to pay the rent/mortgage. Would be much harder for lots of other mums out there and its not fair their bubbies miss out, and definitely not fair their mums have to make a choice betwen buying groceries that week or having it done. I think its pretty obscene that all stuff for children at least isn't free when you look around at how much money the government (whichever government ETA or political party it is) wastes on things like election advertising campaigns!!
Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now . . .
-
You go Lulu!!! I agree wholeheartedly. I better shut my mouth before I go on my political spin, I could be here all day on the global warming scare that is making several billions of dollars for governments and big companies, the workplace relations tug of war, oh god, I better hit submit now....
-
Hee hee you girls are funny! But oh so right. Its like my GF who has diabetes nd she has to pay HUGE amounts of money for her medication - in the UK when she lived there she got it all for free. Stuff like this for the health and wellbeing of our bubs should be free - especially when you think of how much it will save in health care costs when we arent having to rush to emergency when they get sick.... now you've got me going!
My sister and her family are going to Canada on Sunday so am going out for lunch with her plus mum gave me some money early for my birthday on Monday so Im going to try and find some clothes to fit this post baby body- wish me luck I think Im gonna need alot of it!!
-
oh lulu...i agree with you
have fun shopping tan!
-
I have a question for you all!! Luke usually feeds about every 3 hours during the day and has slowly started moving his big night sleep forward a little, which is really frustrating, as I don't really get the chance to make the most of it and then its hard to get him to stay in his cot in the early hours of the morning. I usually make him wait until after 7am before getting him up for the day! This morning, he actually stayed asleep until 8am, which was great and I thought it was going to be a good day. He didn't sleep much during the day, apart from a good hour and a half sleep at about 3pm (which is a little unusual). After that, he fed again at about 5pm, then we had some good 'play time' (we're doing the whole, feed, play, sleep thing) and he went to bed at about 6.30pm - I try not to keep him up longer than an hour and a half. Anyway, I expected him to then wake again at about 8pm for a feed and its now almost 9.30pm and he's still asleep!!! I'm really worried that this is his big long sleep and its going to throw everything out the window - what should I do??? I know no-one is going to respond now, but in this case (for the future), should I just let him sleep or do I need to try and break the routine. I just don't know how what to do and hate missing out on valuable sleep!! Its so confusing but at the same time, if he's sleeping, I don't want to wake him. 5pm is far too early to be going to bed for the night though!!! Hmmm, I'll pop back in tomorrow and let you know what happened!!! Might just bite the bullet and go to bed myself. I hope I can get some good sleep!!!
Kelly xxx
-
Hey Kelly can you give him a dream feed by gently picking him up and feeding him and placing him back gently to try not to wake him? I hope it works :S I still get the up every 2 hours at night so maybe I am not the best person to answer hehe Nightynight!!!
-
Hey Kelly, I am hearing ya! Angus was doing the same thing! I tried the whole dream feed thing and it didn't work. Did for my girls, but Angus seems to be hungry all the time! So I just let him sleep and wake for himself, and over the last week he has finally decided 8-9pm he will go into a deep sleep and sleep till about 2/3 am, but that is his only big sleep, then he starts the 2/3 hrly feeding all over again until the next night! He does stir around midnight when he is due a feed but I put a dummy in and he quickly settles back to sleep, otherwise if I feed him he is too tired and just uses the boob to go back to sleep. This is about the only time I can get him to take a dummy, tried it during day and he won't take it he just wants to feed!! Also the only dummy I could get him to take is those "happy" brand dummies, that are the cheapest you can buy!! Brought the expensive ones that are spose to be better for breastfed babies but he hates them - go figure! He is just a typical fussy male I think!! Anyway, I hope Luke sorts himself out for you, there is nothing worse than having no sleep!!
Sarah, Noah sounds like a very hungry boy - every 2 hours!!! Poor you!! And poor BB's!! Sure it is a boy thing, both my girls slept through by 6 weeks from like 7pm-7am, they were so good!!
Anyway, have about 5 loads of washing to do so betta go, am still lazing around in my PJ's, so really should get sorted!!
Take Care!
*Michelle*
-
Michelle - My MCHN recommended the happy baby dummies too!! Ive got similar ones with a cherry end by tommee tippee- still cheap - about $3.50 for two - she loves them!! Just had a look at your pics!! Angus is such a cutie and your girls are gorgeous hun! I hear you on the washing - we had people over last ngiht and the house is a bomb site and I have to go out now... ah well it'll keep! I finished Harry Potter last week too - its awesome - hope you get a chance to finish it soon!
Kelly - Im not much help either really because even though Izzy sleeps for a long sleep (7-9 hours) every night she goes down from between 6-7 which i think is too earlytoo. If I have tried to dream feed her or wake her for a feed later on - around 830ish or 9 she seems to think she has had her big sleep and will wake up 4 hours or so later- so I just let her go. Its worth a try though - one thing Ive learnt is that these babies are pretty versatile and even if we interrupt their routine one night they arent too phased by it and will just do their own thing anyway!! Good luck - I would say try to wake him or dream feed 2 or 3 into that sleep and see what happens!
Well Ive gotta jet - Al is building some shelves for some friends and they are puttin on a bbq for us for lunch! He starts his new job tomorrow!! Yay - you might have seen my woo hoo post - we have been waiting on this job since before Izzy was born!! He is pretty excited about finaly starting - he will be building sets at Docklands studios for the Band of Brothers new TV series!! We had a few people over last night and we are both so tired today - ah well!
Hope you all have a lovely relaxed Sunday!
-
Hello!!!
Well, I'm very pleased to say that Luke woke up about 5 minutes after I posted last night, so all was wonderful. He fed at about 9.30pm and then I kept him up for a little bit of stimulation so he didn't think that was his big deep sleep. We put him down at about 10.15pm and he slept until 3pm!! So I'm pretty happy with that. Then he goes back to the three hourly feeds too!!
I have tried the dream feed but as I've still got so much milk, he wakes up when it starts chocking him, or he'll be that tired that he won't have a bar of it and just stays sound asleep - he won't even suck. It's quite funny, trying to shove my boob in his mouth!!!! So, I don't think I'll try that again!!
They're just so confusing.
Michelle - I'm still coming to terms with how much washing we have!!! I guess it doesn't help that Luke is a spewy baby and that my boobs spray milk everywhere - makes for lots of extra washing!! It's so annoying with all the rain at the moment too. Thank god for the dryer - although I get in trouble for using it too much!!!!
Better go, Luke has started screaming again, that sleep didn't last long!!! Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!
Kelly xx
-
Thanks Tan, I think my kids are gorgeous too, could be biased though!! My washing still isn't done and my Harry Potter is still lying around unread!!!!
Just wondering if everyone got the rota vaccine? We had all our imm. today and I didn't hesitate about getting it, but there is a thread about all the side effects and people choosing not to get it done?? Just wondering everyone elses views on it and if you got it!!
Kelly, my first daughter was a spewy baby and everyone assured me she would grow out of it when she started solids and got older - but sorry to say she never grew out of it and to this day she gags and spews at the drop of a hat!!!! I had an endless supply of cloth nappies to wipe up spew from all over the house!! I mainly use cloth nappies for my boobs now to catch the spraying milk also!! I am a good cow with a major oversupply!
Anyway, Angus is having a grizzle, I bette give him a cuddle cause he sounds so sad!
Take Care!!
*Michelle*

HELLO HELLOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Long time no speak and I apologise for not poking my head in more often.
As an update, my little Missy Moo is not a happy one at the moment. She's got some bad reflux and isn't feeding from me properly (hasn't for the last week or so now) and is now at the point of breast refusal because she's in so much pain :(. Got some Zantec from the Drs today and have started her on that - she hates it! MCHN also suggested to try and give her some food thickener which is HOPELESS as she just won't take it (if I was FF it would be easier, but she just spits it all back up again and hates the taste) so we'll have to see how we go.
Otherwise though, we're doing well! She's still sleeping wonderfully through the night from about 11/1130pm through to 7-8am. We have lots of giggles and smiles too - she makes me laugh so much!!
Updated Mia's website recently too with some new pics - have been looking at everyone's websites recently and all the bubbas are GORGEOUS!!!! Please keep adding pics ladies - I love looking at them!!
Must go, as only a quick one but just wanted to let you know I am alive and well!
xx
-
A flying quick post from me but I wanted to pop on and say
:happybirthday: to Tan. Hope you had a fantastic day and got spoilt.
Hopefully I'll have the time to pop on and catch up tomorrow.
Luv Dan.
-
I am not getting the alerts for posts again for some reason, I thought it was too quiet in here!
Waves hand at Dan as she flys by ;)
Tan- Is it really your birthday? Happy Birthday!!! Great news about Al's new job, Juz is really excited about it, he says he expects to hear all the goss about what is going on down there, he is such a war nerd  Oooo duh I just read the post that said birthday on Monday, I hope you had a great day shopping!
Kristen - Great to hear from you, sorry to hear Mia has reflux still, do they grow out of it soon? I really must find the time to check out everyones websites myself.
Michelle - I just went and read that post, I got the vaccine for Noah without hesitation because they wouldn't release it if it was dangerous. He didn't have any adverse reaction that I could tell other than he was harder to settle for the night, hardly a problem in my mind, I would rather that, than gastro any day. As for Noah's 2 hourly feeds, the BB's don't hurt but the lack of sleep is the killer, I am trying once again to stretch feeds but it really is a boy thing from what I hear.
Kelly - Great that Luke was a good boy for you! The dream feed is an interesting concept, I skipped it last night but got woken up an hour after I went to bed, come to think of it, he would have gone 6 hours between feeds then, maybe I will keep on skipping it. They are really confusing these babies!
Today was mothers group, I am absolutely loving it, it is good to finally make some friends here, I really hope we keep up some form of it after it ends.
I have a clothing question, I am reviewing Noah's clothes that he has, can you believe he has 25 complete 000 outfits (not counting how many singlet and body suits)? OK that was not the question, How many complete outfits should I have in his wardrobe, for his 00 he has 11 complete outfits and 8 short sleeve body suits and one pair of shorts, I was thinking about buying 2-3 more pairs of shorts and a pack of singlet suits is that enough for a non spewy baby? Am I missing something?? Ok I promised myself a 10:30pm bedtime, be back tomorrow!!!
-
mia should grow out of her reflux soon. Mason has almost fully outgrown it now and we dont even use gaviscon anymore! We have the occassional tiny "spit" and thats it thank goodness!
sarah, that sounds like enough clothes although he probably wont need shorts until size 0. Maybe wait before you buy them? Dont forget socks!
-
