Thanks Dan!
Why no shorts Danni? It gets so hot here in Horsham. We have heaps of socks and now we have 2 rompers to add to the list because he can't wear Bonds suits at night because of his boots and bar :( He will probably wind up with so many more clothes anyway, Nan loves to shop for him as much as I do  I got him this heaps cute Australia tracksuit, I wish I could get a Canadian one
-
Dan, you need to change your ticker sweetie, it says Liv is 6 months old lol
Sarah-looking gorg! Did you make your Av yourself and just get Kathryn to upload it?
-
sarah you look fantastic! Im pretty sure he will be in the next size up again by the time it gets hot babe. Shouldnt he?
-
Quick one here - we have a dodgy copy of knocked up to watch - ha ha -appropriate! I had a great birthday ladies - went to Chaddy shopping with Izzy and Al bought me all the Harry Potter books (even though Ive read them all - I always re-read books!!) and we ordered in Indian so that was good! Al started his new job and he is pretty tired in the evenings so we just had a nice chilled out night!
Anyway - gotta go! Hope you all have a great night!!
-
Sorry it's late but Happy Birthday Tan!!! Glad to hear you had a good day! Does that mean you're a Leo?
13 days till my B'Day!
-
Happy Bday Tan!!
Sorry ladies that I haven't caught up, Leo is going through a screaming all day long period and I can't put him down.
He is STILL not having day sleeps, I don't know what to do about that.
What's everyone's baby weights? I've been wondering if Leo is the heaviest one here, he's 6.2kg (at exactly 2 months old) a total weight gain of 2kg's since birth now. We are in all 00's and even some 0's now.
Hugs and kisses to all you mumma's. I've soo got to read back and catch up.
P.S. Sarah - reeeeroooo!
-
omg leo is big... mason is only just 6kgs now at 3.5 months
-
Blake was 6.1kg at 9 weeks, so almost the same weight at the same age as Leo. He is now 7185g at 14 weeks. Huge huge huge! Never think he was a prem!
He had a size 0 shirt on yesterday....:(
-
At our 8 week check up Izzy was 5.3 - i think shes pushing 6 now though!! Hee hee- Leo is so cute Tara!!
-
we are only just into 00 wondersuits and they are baggy...
i do feed him though i promise!!
-
Thanks Ashlee, yeah I did make my own and got Kat to upload it. I wasn't sure about the purple background but I like it now.
Danni, our days are now in the 20's or they have been since Saturday now. I walk around in a singlet but I am a crazy Canadian who can't make up her mind about being hot or cold.
Oooo Tan, let us know what Knocked Up is like, I can't wait to see it! Sounds like you had a great b-day!
Tara, Noah was 6kg 2 weeks ago and I think he had a growth spurt since then, if he was awake I would have a look, I will check tomorrow. It's so sad that they are growing up so quickly.
I am trying to learn HTML and I tell you I am about ready to pull my hair out, I have designed my website on a visual level but I need to put it into HTML and I am not having fun. I better get back to it anyway, it gives you a headache staring at these screens too much. :wall:
-
Wow go Blake!!! Size 0 shirt!! I was just sorting out all of Noah's clothes last night seeing what he needs in different sizes and I couldn't imagine him in 0 at all.
Danni I don't believe you ;)
-
OMG, Ash, I always thought he'd be a littley, I can't believe he was the same size as Leo! That's amazing and you've done a good job mummy ;)
Danni - heehee, you've got a wee little man there, he looks so sweet (I love the family photos BTW)
Tan - Izzy is growing up so much, she looks so sweet in her bath. She was a bigger baby when she was born wasn't she?
Sarah - A big boy too, it is sad :( I'm already thinking about the next baby lol. I used to be fluent in HTML, I remember a bit, if you get stuck with any tags or just knowing how to add something, send me a PM and I'll try and help.
Okay, next question....who's already thinking about the next baby? I think it's something about them growing up so fast, but I've been thinking about the next one and packing things away in the anticipation of holding onto them for another. For me, this would mean number 4 though, so it changes things like the size of the house and we would need a bigger second car, and then I would have to think if we could support 4 on one income till youngest was at school. I think even DP might agree to another though, there is such a big age gap with Leo and the other kids so I'd love another close to him just like they were.
-
Tara I might take you up on that offer but now I am deciding whether to do html or css, which is better or do I need both :wall: I have got digital copies of the Dummies books to reference but it is a headache.
As for the baby thing, I had planned from the beginning to have 4 and to have the first 2 right away and the following 2 after 2 years. So I am definitely eager to have the next one asap but I can't seem to get the nerve up in the bedroom department because I tried once and it was not a pleasant experience. I also want to get back to pre-pregnancy size before I get pregnant again so I don't have twice as much to get rid of after.
Eeek I am chatty tonight!!!
-
Hi ladies. Olivia is being a naughty girl today and not sleeping so I'll do my best to catch up but no idea if she is going to let me. GGGRRRR!!!!!!! Dave is down in her room now trying to settle her. I'm at my wits end today. The funny thing is I'm exhausted and she is crying but we still think she is the most gorgeous little girl.
We had mother's group which was good even though Olivia cried through it. We have already set our first social occasion. We're off to see Knocked up at Babes in arms movie time on Monday. Hopefully I'll make some friends with mums and babes. I need to make some friends to get back to being social again.
At her last MCHN appt Olivia weighed 5020g and that was nearly 3 weeks ago so her average is about 100-150g a week so she should be about 5 1/2kg. It looks like the boys are out growing the girls. Big strong boys we have in our group. She is growing far too quickly. My little girl grabbed and dragged her very first toy to herself today. I was so excited. She is really starting to become interested in everything around her.
On the baby front Dave and I are going to start trying again in May/June next year providing I get offered a job after my 10 week contract is up Mid March so I get maternity pay. Not sure what we are going to do if I don't. I guess we'll worry about that when/if we have to.
I'm excited because we are picking up our new car tomorrow afternoon. We have bought a 2005 VZ white commodore wagon. Looking forward to going for our first drive tomorrow.
Sarah I'm like you and are having trouble in the bedroom department. I just cannot get my sex drive back which is completely unlike me. I'm lost what to do. Oh well another thing to worry about.
Ash thanks for letting me know about Olivia's age in my ticker. I updated the photo and must have forgotten to check the age. Better go fix that now before I forget again.
Tan I'm glad that you had a great birthday and Al and Izzy spoiled you.
Have a great night girls. I'm off to bed now that my amazing DH has got Olivia to sleep.
Luv Dan.
-
i want number #2 as well...but refuse to give us breastfeeding yet so it may not happen so soon. who knows!
Dan: hope Livy decides that sleep is good soon for you
-
I *think* I want to get pg again around May/June too Dan (we can be belly buddies again!! Whoo hoo!) So that Izzy will be nearly 2 once he/she arrives but thats waaaayyyyyyy off right now! Al and his brother are about 2 years apart and are great friends, my sister is 6 years older and we only became really close once I was about 18 and as Ive gotten older, so I definately want Izzy to have a close in age sibling but not toooo close! Hee hee!
Tara - Izzy was 8lb 13oz at birth!
Sarah - Great av hun!!!
I think Izzy is having a growth spurt or something? She slept for 10 hours last night til 5, fed her back to bed, up at 745, tried to feed her and she didnt really want it, put her back down for a nap at 830 - thinking she would sleep for an hour as usual and shes still asleep!! OMG - I never usually check her because she is like clockwork and I hate waking her if shes asleep but I deliberately creaked the floorboard near her door just to see her stir a bit!!
Better make the most of the quiet morning ladies - catch you all soon!
-
Wow, I am off for a day and everyones been in here chatting!!
Tara, Angus was 5.6kgs at 8 weeks when I had him weighed, so Leo has flown past him considering they share a birthday and birth weights!! He had had gastro though the week before so prob lost some weight then. He should pack on the weight cause he feeds every 3 hours!!
Seems funny everyone talking about the next baby!! Just seems like yesterday I couldn't wait for my pregnancy to be over, and now my little boy is growing sooo fast!! I would dearly love one more, but as this is number four for us also like you Tara, it is something we would have to seriously consider. New car etc, also future costs of schooling and stuff. I don't want to go back to work just yet, but my paid mat leave finishes in October so after that we will have to see how things go. Will just have to stay away from the shops!! My kids have great wardrobes full of clothes cause I just can't resist them!!
Anyway, I have friend coming over who is 27 weeks preg, and I am soo jealous cause I want to be back there again!!! Better do a quick tidy up!! See-ya!
*Michelle*
-
Michelle I completely agree with you with not being able to resist clothes. I popped out this morning just to grab a pair of bathers for Olivia (because we are starting swimming YAY!!!!!!). I ended up coming home with the bathers and 6 other outfits. I need to get them washed and put away before DH comes home and finds out.
My girlfiend is also pg and is about 34 weeks. I love it when she tells me about the kicks and movements and it makes me miss being pg so much. I absolutely loved being pg and miss it terribly but I am loving how much Olivia is starting to do. I need to figure out a way that I can have the movements but have her outside too. It's a tricky one.
I just had to pop on and share my excitment. Olivia grabbed a toy, dragged it to her and sucked it all by herself today for the first time and you wouldn't believe it but I was actually videoing her when she did it. How's that for timing. You should hear me squeal. I was so excited. I've been putting the toys in her hands but she grabbed it all by herself. I think that I have been a little bit slow with introducing toys and things but I honestly have no idea what to do and when. I guess she will tell me.
Anyway I had better go and eat some lunch while she is asleep. I'm starving.
Chat soon ladies,
Luv Dan.
P.S. I LOVE BEING A MUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Isabelle is asleep AT HOME after THREE!!!!
I put her in her cot with her mobile on and shes fallen asleep -!!! OMG I cant believe it! I think we will make the big night move tonight too!! Im soooo excited that shes asleep - mainly for Al, hopefully this means she wont be so grizzly when he gets home and it means I dont have to constantly be going out after 3 to get her to sleep! Fingers crossed it carries over to tomorrow and forever!! Ha ha!!
-
My little princess is a teeny one compared to all your lovely big buddhas - she was just under 5.3 kgs at 12.5 weeks. She's still in 000s except for Bonds suits in 00s
Tan - YAY for Izzy sleeping this afternoon for you. It makes such a difference doesn't it when you get that afternoon sleep out of them. Crossing everything for you that she keeps it up.
Dan - YAY for Olivia reaching for her toy and unbelievable timing with the video. Good on you, although I hope you're more talented with a video camera than I am! Izzy has just started reaching for toys hanging off her play gym and its great to watch her moving them around in her hands and chomping on the edges. That's funny you have to get her clothes washed before you DH comes home - I do the same thing! I hope Olivia stops being a naughty girl and has a good sleep for her mummy.
We had planned on leaving it to nature for No. 2 but now that I'm not breast feeding, that could give nature a little more of a hurry along than I'm ready for :p Will see what happens but I would be happy to fall pregnant again in another 3 months or so but not yet - I had such a crappy pregnancy and I'm a bit worried how I will cope with that again and still look after Izzy.
-
Lulu, I am so happy for you that you now really enjoying motherhood, sometimes it is really difficult and you wonder if you made the right decision to have children, and when they smile at you with those big toothless grins you know it was. :hugs:
Dan, It is hard to know what to do and when in regards to development, I have a really hard time giving Noah his 'tummy time' he gets it about once a week and I notice the difference between him and the other babies at MG but I won't panic yet, I just need to be more aware I guess. I used to the the hide the bought clothes with my EH, it is a good trick, I just said to Juz maybe I should do that with him so he doesn't have to stress about my money spending and he just frowned :S Maybe not. I hope Olivia sleeps well for you tonight.
Tan, Great that Izzy slept for you, that has been a struggle for you! I hope it keeps up!
Michelle, You can never have too many children  I do want 4 or more, I bet it is a struggle that is worthwhile.
Well today my mood is Buzzed, but don't get me wrong girls, it isn't coffee this time, I went for a 45 min powerwalk and I had an energy burst after that had me cleaning! I still have a lot to do considering it is my spring clean but there is major improvement. I plan on doing the same tomorrow! I have also decided not to fall pregnant until I lose that last 10kg, otherwise it will be more difficult to lose after number 2. Well, I better get back to cooking dinner, 10 mins to go.
Oh how could I forget! Noah has had a 6 hour sleep at night the last 2 nights with no booby juice, fingers crossed he keeps this up!!! Ciao for now girls!
-
Sarah and Tan you both must feel like new women with the sleeping your little ones are doing for you. YAY!! and I hope they keep it up for you.
Olivia is sleeping right now for me and I hope she sleeps all night after her next feed. I'm lucky that she is a good girl for the majority of the time.
Lulu I'm so glad that you are enjoying being a mum now. The first few months are really hard aren't they? Now that we are getting on top of things we can relax and enjoy it a bit more. It sounds like your little princess is the same size as mine. She is in 000 two piece outfits and 00 bonds suits. Our girls are growing the same.
I'm off to have dessert and spend some time catching up with Dave.
Luv Dan
-
Izzy is in her cot for the night!! I feel a bit ill! Will let you all know how she goes!
-
OMG - after a few quite days, you've all gone nuts!!! I'm having trouble keeping up again!!! :p
Sorry, can't really handle personals atm - I'm really tired tonight. DH is away for work and I always find it hard to sleep when he's not here :( I don't like it at all. So, I'm really tired. Last night was the first night that he's been away since Luke was born but luckily he's back again tomorrow night - so it's only two nights without him. He just called again earlier and the poor darling is missing Luke sooo much!!
Oh man, all this talk about having another bub so soon - I think you're all crazy!!! Nah, DH is keen for our children to be close together in age, but I don't think I could handle it just yet. I think we'll let Luke turn one and see how we're going. Maybe when he's about 15 months old we'll start trying again, who knows. He's been sooo adorable lately though that it really has made me start thinking about it too!!!!! I'm just loving the age that he's at now - really smiling and responding to everything. I see him develop ever day now, it's incredible.
Oh god, I hear you guys about trouble in the bedroom!!! I had a c/s and I'm still finding that it's really hurting for some reason!! The OB did warn me about it though, something to do with the hormones changing, which means it doesn't make a difference if you've had a c/s or not :( Very unhappy!! Hopefully it will improve.
Well, better get myself onto the couch and then bed - hopefully I'll sleep better tonight.
Danni - Please remind me when you're here again and when we're all catching up??

Tan - How did you and Izzy go with her first night in her big girl cot? The first one is the worst (for us, that is). Read back over my post. I cried and cried the first night and didn't get anymore than about 1/2 hour sleep at a time from going down to her room to check on her. Whereas Olivia slept soundly for 8 1/2 hours. She loves her big girl bed in her room. Did Izzy sleep well for you? How much sleep did you get? By the way I love her being in her room now. I sleep like a log but wake up the second I hear any sound from her room. Is it a good sign that you didn't post again last night?
Kelly - It would be so hard when your DH is away. I can't sleep when mine is gone too. Hope you got some sleep last night. Just imagine how excited Luke is going to be to see his daddy tonight. I've had a look at your website. Gee Luke looks like his daddy.
Do you ladies find that depending on who you are talking too and who they know more they think Olivia looks like that person. Like DH friends think she looks more like him whereas people who know me think she looks like me. I think she looks like Olivia.
Anyhoo that's enough babble from me so early in the morning because we are driving to Cobram to surprise Nana and have lunch with her. Mum has been nagging me to take Olivia over because everyone at her work followed me through the pregnancy and look at all of her photos but haven't met her. So going to rectify that today.
Look at me, I'm still babbling. I'm so chatty last night and today.
Oh one last thing. We picked up our car last night. I'm really happy with it and couldn't believe how much room was left after I put in the pram. I was so excited. DH is still warming to the car because it was his that we traded in and he absolutely loved his car. He'll survive. I'm one tough cookie. That's the other reason we are going visiting today, to show off our new car.
Off I went again. I can't help myself LOL :).
Okay this is it,
Bye.
-
Well we made it through the night!!
Izzy went to bed at around 8 which is a bit later than usual but she did have her afternoon nap and then fell asleep in the pram for an hour when we went for our walk. She slept til 130 which is a bit earlier than usual- not sure if its because she is in the cot or if its from her extra naps yesterday? She then slept til 630 and when I put her back in her cot she chatted to her mobile for an hour!!
She never does that - normally she is straight back to sleep! I didnt sleep very well- I think I was over-anxious and waiting for her to scream all night which she just didnt do!! Even when she woke up at 9 she was just chatting away - not crying, so yay for the cot - so far so good! I just hope she goes back to her 8-10 hours followed by 5 hours rather than back to 6 and then 4!!
A bit silly but when I saw her cradle this morning I got a bit teary - its so cute and little and now shes in her big girl bed - I cant believe it! Im still a bit worried that she will be cold and lots of the blankets I have, are more polar fleece bunny rugs that are too small for the cot - although I have one that i s HUGE - its the size of a single bed - weird!
Anyway - selfish post again, sorry ladies - have to go have a shower while I can - mum and dad are coming to visit soon!
Hope you all have a great day! :D
-
Argh I wish I was having success in the cot. I tried to put Blake in his but at 2am he woke and managed to wriggle his way out of his wrap (he's still swaddled) and his sheet and 2 blankets, and I woke up to him screaming as he was absoliutely stone cold.
Not sure what to do, wayyy to paranoid of this happening again.
*Pondering if there are maybe some escape-proof swaddles available*
-
Dan - have a great day at your Mum's work and with your new car. Must be lovely having lots of space. Our families don't see any resemblance in Izzy to either of us, but just about all our friends say she is my DH (I can occasionally see him in a particular expression, but that's it). I agree with what you said - Izzy is Izzy. She's far too beautiful to look like either her mummy or her daddy!!
Tan - Izzy will settle down into more of a "normal" routine again. She's probably just adjusting to her new environment. Isn't it gorgeous when they chat away happily in their cots though. I'm was so used to my Izzy screaming if she's on her back and not asleep that the first time I went in there in the morning and opened the curtains and she just smiled and gurgled and chatted away I felt like crying. I've tried to put Izzy back in her cradle downstairs for a day time sleep but she doesn't seem to like it now.
Ashlee - have you tried a grobag or something similar so that that Blake can't kick his blankets off? I still swaddle Izzy very loosely in her grobag (just wrap her arms) and she's always out of it by morning but it is still helping her get to sleep. That way Blake could still be wrapped but you'd know he would stay warm.
Kelly - hope you got some sleep with your DH away. I stayed down at my Mum's without my DH a couple of weeks ago and it was the first time DH and I had slept apart in nearly three years. It was so awful.
Well, I'm off to take Izzy for a walk (first day it hasn't been bucketing down with gale force winds for a long time!) and then I'm going shopping. Buying a pregnancy test!!! I really want more children but there's a pretty big part of me hoping it comes up negative! Still, haven't had great luck on the baby front so I'll take another gorgeous bundle any time and any way I can.
-
Oooh pregnancy test Lulu??!!!!!! Let us know how you go!!!!
-
Yes, let us know how you go Lulu. How exciting!!
Noah woke up 4 times last night!!! I jinxed it by bragging in my post
I better get back to website designing, I am getting all googly eyed!!!
-
Wow Lulu. Nice way just to pop it in the middle of a post. I'll definetely be back later to see how you went.
How's the website designning going Sarah? You'll have to let us know when it is all finished so we can hop on and have a look.
I agree with Lulu Tan. Izzy will settle back into her routine really quickly and it is more than likely just her settling into her new environment.
Lunch was lovely and mum was so surprised. You should have seen her showing off Olivia. It was so cute. It took her ages to even notice the car. It was so cute. I love watching my parents be proud grandparents. Olivia is tired from our adventure so I'm currently trying to settle her but I don't think I'm going to have much luck. Fingers crossed.
Catch up soon ladies,
Dan
-
Hahaha Dan, it is going so hard and I decided to get a template and take my time designing mine as I learn HTML and CSS, now to just find a template I like which is not easy, there are so many good ones out there. How nice that your mum was showing off Olivia, it really is special to see that. Good luck with settling Olivia.
-
OMG Lulu - I pregnancy test - geez, I'd be scared sh*tless!!! I mean I do want another bub, just not for a while yet!!! I can't wait to hear from you!!
Sorry, no more personals from me again though, I'm too tired. It took me and hour and a half to get Luke to bed last night - which NEVER happens, it was really weird. He wasn't interested in my boobs but in desperation, I defrosted some ebm and gave it to him in the bottle and he guzzled it down!!! I had fed him already but maybe I didn't have enough milk left (strange, but I do wonder if my milk is just fast flowing and not really an oversupply)!! He took a good 50ml extra though (after I'd fed him).
The annoying thing was, I finally got him down at 10.30pm (I was soo looking forward to an early night, seen as I was home alone and all). Then the bloody dog woke me up at 12am and again at 2am - so he was not so nicely kicked out of the house at 2am. Then Luke woke at 4am and again at 5.30am, so I'm really tired again. I don't sleep well when I'm home alone.
Went out to lunch today and am out to lunch again tomorrow - it's wonderful. I've been defrosting some of my ebm and taking it out with me to lunch - its sooo much easier than dealing with my squirting milk. So far its working really well as I express either before I go out or when I get home, to make up for the missed feed - then just refreeze the milk for next time!!! I've got quite a supply going!!! Its just not defrosting very well in my fridge - it seems to stay frozen, so I'm having to end up taking it out of the fridge to defrost and then putting it back in just before it's completely defrosted - so I assume thats ok!! I'm really worried about it going 'off' for some reason!!
Must go rest up - thank god DH is home tonight - I can't wait to see him, I hope he's not too late!!!
Take care.
Kelly xxx
-
hey chatterboxes!
Dan: what car did you get?
Lulu: what was the result?!?!/ how exciting! (i hope!)
Ash: try a sleeping bag and then wrap his arms. Atleast he wont be stone cold if he kicks off the blankets
Kelly: Next friday, 11am at carousel! how exciting :D
:hello: to everyone else. Im freezing..and going to bed. good night xx
-
Well Lulu is there anything you wouldlike to share with us? LOL
Danni we got a 2005 white VZ commodore wagon. The boot space is awesome. I'mreally happy with the car.
Gee it's freezing here this morning. I'm goin to hop back into bed with Olivia.
Chat later in the morning when it's warmer.
Luv Dan
-
nice one! we definitely couldnt live without our wagon either!
-
Hi gorgeous ladies and bubs!
Wow - hasnt time flown by!! Izzy is 11 weeks old today and I just cant believe it! I still look at her at times and think "what on earth are you doing in my house!!" Have to say there is no greater feeling in the world than being a mum, even with the worry about doing it "right" and thinking about bringing her up so she is a well adjusted teenager and adult!! (THAT scares me!) At the moment I will just enjoy watching her frustration of grabbing a toy in each hand and not being able to put either into her mouth because they are attached to her bouncer ! So cute!
Mmm Im a bit rambling and sentimental this morning - sorry!
Kelly -Im pretty restless if Al isnt home too - not that its that often, but he has gone out with the boys a few times since she was born and not come home til late (or early morning;)) and Im a light sleeper anyway! Sounds like you have your feeding/expressing worked out well hun! Ive just been timing feeds if I go out - so she has one before I go and once she got hungry at Chadstone but I just jumped in the car to go home rather than find somewhere to feed her there - I figured at pushing 6 kgs she could wait 20 mins (mean mummy!)
Is anyone else getting scared as these gorgeous creatures get bigger and older if they are getting enough milk? I know it sounds weird but I have always only fed her on one side per feed because I have loads of milk but now am wondering if she will need both. Having said that she wont take the other side if I offer it - but I still worry.
Sarah super dooper web designer - hows it going!!?? Cant wait to see it up and running! Hows Noahs boot and brace going? Hope it doesnt bother him too much.
Dan - how did you go last night?? Did she sleep after her late feed? Like I said in chat, Im wondering if I should be a bit more persistent with it - Izzy slept from 7 til 5 last night and then 530 til 9. If we could swing that 10 hours from 9-7 that would be awesome, just not sure its gonna work! How cold is it today! We have had the heater on all morning and Ive got thick socks and my ugg boots on and my toes are still icy cold!
Lulu - you are a bit quiet?! Hope you are ok! Ive just re-read your post, my Izzy is sleeping in her cradle for day sleeps, she just wont settle in her cot even when Ive taken the mobile away to stop her being distracted. I think she is used to being rocked to sleep in the cradle so I think I will have to gradually stop the rocking until she will just go straight down and then swap her over. She goes down fine at night in her cot though and after her evil early morning feed!
Ash - have you found any solution to the swaddling/wrapping? It must be hard - I always thought Izzy settled better being wrapped and when my MCHN said they didnt need it for the startle reflex after 8 weeks I thought - oh she needs it! Then we tried her in her sleeping bag lightly wrapped and I realised that she took a while to settle at night becaseu she was fighting the wraps and once her arms were out she would fall asleep!! Hee hee silly mum! Anyway sorry about the ramble. Hope you are going ok too hun? Remember we are here for you if you need to vent/cry/yell/laugh!
All you other quiet lovely ladies!! You have all made me realise that I have a serious BB obesession that I need to deal with!! Hee hee- my reasoning is that Izzy only sleeps for 1 hour at a time during the day - why wake her unecessarily with the vacuum/dishes/mopping/washing machine - it can wait while I chat for an hour on BB!!
Well the cot it great! After waking 5 hours into her sleep the first night, the last 2 have been 8 hours and last night 10 so we are back to normal! Her days have been weird though - only awake for an hour at a time before she wants to sleep again and every second feed she has beenfighting it, kicking, pulling on my nipple (owchies) etc and generally not having a full feed. If it keeps up I might call my MCHN and see what they say - can they go through a growth spurt where they feed less frequently and sleep more??
Anyway - gotta go get ready for our Saturday ritual of shopping with a gf and then off to see Al play soccer.
Hope you are all fantastic ladies and I think we should start planning a May babies meet up for September - I know its far away but it takes about that long to decide on a date/place!
See ya!
-
Tan - OMG, Izzy is sleeping like a champion!! I'm so jealous. We had a few good nights with Luke a couple of weeks ago but it's all gone backwards again recently. Actually, the last few nights have been particularly bad - Luke just wont settle and its starting to do my head in!!! I think he's overtired as we've been out and about quite a lot. I think I'm going to start saying no to things and focusing on my little boy and getting a routine in place. What has worked for you??? I'm also having trouble this week with Luke pulling off the boob and screaming. I'm really confused as I don't know if its the reflux or not and I'm starting to worry that he's not getting enough. The other night I gave him some ebm and he guzzled it down, it's really confusing and it getting me down.
Oh god, where was I. Sorry, I've just been trying to settle Luke - its exhausting. I'm trying some techniques from the 'Save our Sleep' book and it's really difficult but I think we had a breakthrough. After about 6 mintues of whinging, Luke managed to settle himself - hooray!! Lets hope this sleep lasts longer than 20 minutes!! We've been relying on the dummy to get him to settle and its just not working as then when he wakes after it falls out, he can't resettle himself, so he's not getting any decent sleeps in throughout the day. So, I'm starting again and trying to teach him the art of settling himself. I had no idea how hard it was going to be and have been in tears today! Its all a bit much and I'm feeling really quite down and a little hopeless. I just don't know what to do anymore and the breast refusal thing that Luke is doing again is really affecting me. I've got an appointment with the health clinic nurse again on Thursday, so I guess I'll have a chat to her about it all.
Anyway, sorry to be such a downer, its just so hard and there are so many different techniques and advice on settling babies and routines, it's really confusing. Generally Luke is really good but I'm just worried if we don't get the day sleeps and feeding sorted, things could turn ugly really fast (and I think they already are). I guess I'm just really tired too after a few bad nights, so it all seems a bit worse.
Talk soon.

Hi everyone. Firstly, no, negative. THANK GOODNESS! I really do want another baby but I want a bit of time to enjoy Izzy on her own.
Dan - LOL at your mum. I think its gorgeous the way our mums seem to have more pride than we do in our offspring. I was out with my mum a couple of weeks ago and ran into my godparents. I swear mum puffed up with pride right before my eyes when she could show off her beautiful granddaughter!
Kelly - I know its frustrating when they do the "pull off the boob" thing, not to mention painful if they forget to let go first! Izzy got to the point where she was constantly doing that during feeds because of the reflux pain being so bad, which was one of the reasons that made my decision to switch her to formula a bit easier. I hope the community nurse can help you out with it. As for getting a routine, I've tried to get Izzy into one but she won't be in it - she wakes, sleeps and feeds when she wants, no matter what I do. At the moment she is in a fabulous routine but soon enough it will all go to hell again I'm sure. Try not to get too down - I know, easier said than done. It is so much harder keeping it all in perspective when you get really tired though isn't it. Maybe a few days at home with Luke will help though. Good luck!
Tan - the "is she feeding enough?" is a never ending problem isn't it, especially when you're breastfeeding and have no idea how much she is or isn't taking. My Izzy has been feeding really badly lately - until today she has been having four feeds a day and would be lucky to drink 500mls all day long - she's supposed to have about 800mls or so. Dr says its pretty normal, and that she'll hit a growth spurt soon and eat like a little piggy again (I think we got to it today!!) so maybe your Izzy is at the same place? I'm sure she'll go looking for her mummy's second side when she needs it ;)
Well, I'm bound to jinx myself by saying this but Izzy seems to have got herself a new pattern that is just bliss. She goes to bed by 7pm, feeds between about 2-3am, goes right back to sleep after the feed, wakes at 6.30 am for a couple of hours, sleeps an hour, up for 1.5 hours then sleeps for, wait for it, 4 hours!!! Then has a nap in the afternoon of 40 minutes or so before bath, feed and bed again by 7pm. Now, if I can just get rid of that 2am feed I'll be a very happy mummy!!
Anyway, enough babbling from me. Off to bath my princess then bed for her and an early night for her mummy and daddy - had a really late night last night so suffering a bit today! Planning a relaxing day with a nap tomorrow before the big Western Derby - which the Eagles will win of course!!!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
