LMAO Kelly, I say that ALL the time about Blake.
Kelly - I wouldn't worry about overfeeding Luke. I try to feed Izzy three hourly during the day and try to make sure she has five feeds. if she only gets four, I know she's going to wake up for a night feed. It took a while for her to get out of the habit of that night feed though. ROFL at your DH's comment. That's a classic. I joke to Izzy that I'm going to lock her in the cupboard under the stairs when she's not a good girl.
Tan - you poor love. I'm with Danni - ring them and tell them you're just not coping, you're a mummy on the edge! The midwife who took our birth and parenting course here said that if we ever needed to get into Ngala, which is the most recognised sleep school in Perth, you ring and bawl and tell them you're losing it - the demand for places is so high they bump up those who seem to be coping the least well.
Hayley - sorry to hear you're having PND problems. I hope you can come out on the light side soon.
Danni - my scan is next Wednesday. Looking forward to the 20 week one so I can find out what flavour Ned is.
Well, I've had a pretty awful night and day. Woke up at about 2am with horrible stomach spasms, lots of vomiting etc. Had the same thing when I was 33 weeks pregnant with Izzy. I really hope its not something that's going to keep happening. I swear its more painful than childbirth! Poor DH has had to look after Iz all day. The good news is that her tooth has FINALLY broken through her gum, so I now have a little toofed girl - so cute.
Congrats on Izzy cutting her first tooth. Bluddy Blakey's are still teasing me :(
masons are still teasing here too...c ongrats izzy!!
Lulu - wow, the first tooth now that is exciting! I can't believe that your 20 week scan is next week. I remember when we were in our pregnancy thread time just seemed to drag on especially up to 20 weeks. Where does the time go!
Kelly - I think it sounds like a good idea to feed him more during the day. If he gets the right amount during the day technically he won't need to wake up during the night. Have you ever tried not feeding him at night and tried settling with a dummy or patting? I did that a couple of nights and by the 3rd or 4th night he slept through and as I knew he didn't need the feed I didn't feel bad about it. The crying got less with each night I did it. That was when Julian was 3 months old so it might take abit longer to break the cycle now but it may be worth a try.
Hayley - how are you going? We are here to help if you'd like to tell us how you are feeling. It must be so hard for you with the PND. I hope that you are OK.
Tan - sorry to hear you are having a bad time. I was doing the same thing with the rocking and feeding to sleep and I realised that it wasn't working for us. I tried really hard for a week to get him to sleep on his own. It was awful but it ended up working. I put him down for a sleep awake when he looked tired, then when he cried I'd pick him up and as soon as he stopped crying I'd put him back down again. You repeat the process until they fall asleep. They get the hang of it and by the end of the week he was self settling. I think they must do something similar at sleep school. Do they get the bubba's on a routine there as well?
Dan - I hope sleep school helps you out. Don't worry about your DH, I'm sure he knows that you are tired and that's why you are emotional at the moment. We have all done it. It is from sheer exhaustion. Take care and let us know how you go.
Poor Julian is still sick. Yesterday I gave him his formula feed as I've started giving him one a day and the vomit that came out of him was unbelievable. He threw up 4 times, the last one being green. We panicked (i was with my mum) and we went to a medical centre as his mormal doctor wasn't available. The doctor told me off for giving him formula referring to is as that 'horrible s26 stuff' and then saying to Julian 'you poor thing mummy is trying to get you off the breast'. I couldn't believe it. He then said it could be reflux which was rubbish as he's never had this before then eventually came to the same conclusion as me that it was plegm (sp?) that made him be sick. To top it off the secretary was giving me that look before we went in like shut your baby up as Julian was unsettled. She told me that there was a microwave if I wanted to do something for him and I promptly told her that he was upset because we'd already waited an hour when we had an appointment and he was tired and sick!
Anyway enough from me. Take care ladies!
Oh Jan - How awful. I think I would of punched the doctor (and secretary) if it was me!! How dare they say what they said - I think its absolutely disgusting! Anyway, I hope Julian is ok and feeling much better now - what a scare. Oh and yeah, we've tried settling Luke at night when he wakes and it works every now and again but only for an hour or so, then he wakes again until I feed him!! Last night, we tried EVERYTHING!! Even DH got up (because that's how histerical Luke was) - I think he thought I was doing something terrible to him!! We dont usually even have to pick him up but this time managed to get him to sleep in our arms three times but every time we put him down, he'd scream. That is until I got the bottle out!! He just seemed to be really hungry!! Anyway, I guess I can't expect the extra feed thing to work overnight, so I'll keep it up for the week and see what happens.
I hate to say this because every time I get my hopes up, things go terribly wrong but we've had a FANTASTIC day today!! Luke's morning sleep lasted for two hours (unheard of), then he had a half hour nap at lunch time in the pram while we were going for a lovely walk along the river (it was the most beautiful day in Perth today). Then he had another hour and a half from 3.45pm to 5.15pm. Incredible. So I fed him the 'extra' feed at 5.15pm when he woke up, then we had some great play time, then his bath and some more quite play while I had my dinner. He started grizzling at 7.30pm, so I made up another bottle, praying that he'd take it and he did - almost took the whole lot (I think he only left about 30ml). After the bottle, we sat quietly for a while and when I put him down in his cot at 8pm, he went to sleep straight away and didn't even make a sound (again unheard of - he usually gives a few cries and I have to go in at least once to put the dummy back in, but this time, NOTHING, he just put himself to sleep). I even went back in to make sure he was ok. Soooooo... as much as I don't want to say it, I'm hoping we're going to have a good night tonight. Only problem is that DH is studying tonight and won't be home until about 10pm, I'm sooo worried that he'll wake Luke when he gets home. Our front door is very noisy and Luke's room is close by it. Oh well, nothing I can do about that.
Wish me luck and I hope all our bubs are kind to us tonight - bring on some sleep!!
Kelly xxxx
Kelly- hope you ended up having a great night hun :crossfingers:
Jan - ****! I cannot believe you were treated like that at the Medical Centre - that is absolutely disgusting hun especially when you were both upset and worried and then to be treated like that is terrible- I hate that whole talk through the baby thing (oooh mummy is blah blah - my MIL does it all the time:rolleyes:) I would write a letter to the centre complaining both about the doctor and their disgusting attitude about the formula and also that the receptionist made you feel terrible and therefore you will never go back and will be telling everyone you know how you were treated. to both you and Julian, I hope is gets better soon, and good on you for saying something to her.
BBL if I can ladies.
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your concern. I am seeing a psychologist as well as taking tablets as well as seeing my doctor every 2 weeks.
My psychologist recommended that i take up a couple of things just for me, so I have enrolled in a 4 week cooking course for christmas and also signed up for the gym as well, so I can tone up!!!!!
It is good talking about it but sometimes I feel stupid that this is happening to me, but then i know I shouldnt as Im not the only one.
Corey is now 5 months and is teething, he is growing up soooooo fast, its unbelieveable watching all the new little things he does.
Will chat to you aoon.
Hayley.
Hayley if you ever need to talk, I have PND too so I know what you're going through!
Hi Hayley, are you breastfeeding? I really need to know if there are any Ad's you can take.
Good afternoon mums & bubs,
Before absolutely anything I'm sending a huge big :hug:to every single one of us. I think we all badly need one.
Jan - I have no words (well not rude ones anyway) to show my disgust at the doctor & receptionist. How dare they say that!!!! As if we don't questions every single one of the decision we make or things we do but then people say the most stupid things like that. I'm so mad for you. I agree, you should write a letter to them telling them how mad and upset you are. Hoping that Julian is feeling better and that he isn't to sick.
Tan - Oh gorgeous I'm so sorry that Izzy still is not sleeping for you. Sleep deprivation is an absolute killer. I think Danni's idea of calling the school and tell them that you aren't coping is a good one which hopefully will help you and Izzy. Are you able to get some time out, even just for an hour or so, to refresh yourself? With Izzy and her bottle what finally got Livvy to take her bottle was Dave got her up when she woke up, got her bottle ready and gave it to her while I hid our bedroom. I don't know if that was what finally helped but it has done the trick. It's just so damn hard. What size teats did you decide to use in the end?
Danni - Sweet heart you're doing it tough at the moment aren't you? If you are starting to feel depressed and anxious maybe you need to talk to someone. How's Mason going this morning/today?
Kelly - What are out babies doing at the moment!!! Have you started Luke on solids yet? I couldn't for the life of me get Olivia to drop the middle of the night feed so I gave her cereal and fruit and we started getting somewhere. It is not for everyone as not everyone what's to give solids before 6 months. Out of curiosity what did you read about exzema and b/f. Livvy is getting bad exzema and I am really interested in reading all opinions.
Lulu - OMG you're first scan on Wednesday . I can't wait to hear all about it. How gorgeous that Izzy has her very first tooth. They are just too cute. Now you'll be flashed big toothy grins. I'm so sorry that Ned is treating you bad at the moment. Did you find out with Izzy that she was a girl?
Ash - How's your little man going? Rolling all over the place?
Hayley - It's fantastic to hear you doing so much to help you though your PND. Fingers crossed it is continues going well for you. Hope Corey is treating you well too.
:hello: to anyone I may have missed. Hope you are going well and your baby is being good.
Well after Olivia's nightmare of a day and night she has done a huge 180 and is being, I'm so scared to say it but, an angel. She is having two big sleeps during the day and is sleeping through! I have no idea what is going on in this house. Livvy is so much fun to be around the last few days, which is so nice for a change. She is laughing, giggling and squealing. I have really needed it this week after having such a bad run. Fingers crossed she keeps it up for me.
Last night Olivia rolled from back to front and back again twice. It was amazing I was so excited and Dave even was home to see it.
Well this morning Dave and I finally DTD after I couldn't tell you how long (sorry TMI) and you won't believe it we broke our bed! Our bed went into shock and died!! Now we have a mattress on the floor until we can save for a new bed. I refuse to spend our savings on a bed.
We'll I'm off to have a shower before Olivia wakes up because we are off to see my g/f who had a baby girl yesterday. I can't wait I'm so excited.
Have a fantastic weekend lady and I've got everything crossed that our babies let their mums get some sleep.
Chat soon gorgeous mummies,
Luv Dan.
PMSL @ DAN hahahahaha your bed went into shock and died HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh lord, that is flipping hilarious!!!
Blake has been not so great - yes rolling all over the place, but screaming teh house down. I live in puddles of drool and spew and I'm a complete sleep deprived zombie. I'm so happ to hear Livvy is being a good girl, hope all the other bubs start following suit.
PMSL Dan - you had me in absolute histerics!!!! I'm almost crying from laughter!! Thats the most hilarious thing I've heard for a while - just classic!! No, we haven't tried solids yet, only because I wanted to get Luke used to formula first but he's doing really well with the formula and he's taking a real interest in our food, so I might start him in the next week or two!! Maybe that will help us. I'm so glad to hear that things are going so well for you now - I'm praying Luke follows and we start getting some good sleep too!!
Hayley - I'm so pleased to hear you're doing some things for yourself, what great advice!! Don't feel silly, its something thats totally out of your control and it sounds like you're dealing with it really well. We're all here for you too - so please use us!!!
Well, I knew I spoke too soon - we didn't get the dream night I was hoping for, but I can't complain as it was still really good!!! I went to bed early as DH was out but of course was disturbed at 11pm when he came home. I tried to settle Luke at 2am but once again, he wasn't having a bar of it, so I just cut down his feed. Instead of making up the 240ml of formula, I only made 180ml. He drank it all though but was still ok when there wasn't any left!! So I might just keep cutting it down and maybe he'll get the hint!!! He went back to sleep quite well though and was awake again at 6am, so thats about when the day started!!!
We've had a wonderful morning though, the weather is just amazing. We've been to the beach and everything. I even put Lukes feet in the water, it was sooo gorgeous!! Now he's crashed, which is good as he only had a half hour sleep in the car this morning.
We're off to a 40th tonight, so Luke's going to Nana's!! DH has been missing him though, so we're not going to have a real big one tonight and we'll go and pick Luke up and bring him home! Then I've got a 1st birthday to go to tomorrow.
Take care and hope all our bubs start giving us some sleep soon!!!
Kelly xxx
hahaha dan how funny.
mason woke at 11pm and wouldnt resettle so dale and him slept together on the couch until 5:30.
So he CAN go all night without a feed. But we just have no idea why he is waking for?!?!?!
We tried everything to resettle him last night but he just wouldnt sleep unless he was in my arms but would scream every time i put him back in the cot. its like he is scared???
Hoping for a good night tonight as i have a head cold and really need some sleep!
Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been around, Noah has had a fever since Wed night and we were in A&E all afternoon today. The poor little possum has gastro. I have been feeling a bit low in spirits lately as well, things seem to be going downhill in the relationship department so I am not in a great head space. I will try to pop on sometime but for now I just need to concentrate on me. I will keep on reading though.
 to all!!!
So sorry to hear about Noah. Seems it is the time of year for lots of upsets and illnesses.
Hope you and Juz can work things out too Sarah. Seems its also the time of year for relationship upsets too
RIght, we all need all of these.
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
Blake isn't improving. He had 30 mins rest all day yesterday, and woke up 5 times overnight. No amount of resettling works, we have to feed him to sleep :( Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BIG GROUP HUG
I think it's amazing that most of us are dealing with the same issues at the same time - just think what we'd do if we didn't have BB to vent!! I hate to think!
Jan - I'm so mad for you too. I definitely think you should write a letter to them telling them how upset you are. Hope that Julian is feeling better.
Tan - How is the sleeping going hon?? And how is the bottle refusal? Keep in mind it took us around a month to get Mia to take a bottle again - and that was trying every day at every feed until one day she just decided she would take it! From this I have learned try offering it to her when she is the hungriest (ie first morning feed). If you have some time, try offering it to her, wait another 10-15 minutes, and try again. Sometimes they've worked up an appetite by sucking (or not as the case may be!) and it's easier to encourage them to latch on. Best of luck sweetness. We had our success with the pigeon teat in the end!
Danni - How are you feeling?? Poor chicken, I hope things start to look up for you soon. Hugs to the both of you!!
Kelly - Glad to hear Luke is going better with his feeds and yay for a day at the beach! Sounds like you had a wonderful time and hope you had fun out the other night as well!
Lulu - Good LUCK for your first scan on Wednesday . I can't believe it has come around so quickly...!!! You must be SO excited!!
Ash - Oh hon, I'm so sorry to hear about Blake. It seems all the bubs are going through this awful stage at the moment and it's horrible when we don't know what to do other than bad habits - I say whatever gets you through! They have to grow out of it, surely!
Hayley - great to hear you're working through the PND and hope Corey going well too!
Dan - Yay on Liv being so fantastic for you!! And OMG on the rolling! Clever chicken! I'm so proud of our rolling bubs I'm wondering if Mia will ever do it!! AND PML at breaking the bed you FUNNY thing!!!
Sarah - I'm so sorry to hear that Noah has been unwell, you poor thing. Hope things improve with Juz too - it must be so hard having Noah unwell and r'ships not being as good as they could. Massive hugs.
Hello to anyone else I may have missed!!
Well, I'm doing it - I'm going to start a photography business on the side - eeeeeek! Had a few more shoots in the last few weeks and everyone was thrilled with their piccies so I was happy! Just need to think of a name (could use my own name, not sure) but hopefully it will bring in enough moula for me to continue to be home with my princess for a bit longer yet.
SO - here's my plug! If you know anyone who is after some pro shots of their kiddies being kiddies in their own environment where they feel the most comfortable (my work is mostly candid, I just take the kids leads the majority of the time, as I don't take posed shots) let me know!!!!!!!!!!!! If anyone doesn't have my email and wants me to email them prices etc, let me know. :D
As for Mia, we're still recovering from our colds at the moment - we're now on day 10 and still as snotty as ever (argh, I hate the after stages, they go on forEVER!) but otherwise doing well. She's still not close to rolling and hates tummy time, but we'll get there in the end I'm sure
How about KC Photography??? It's a little rhyme-ey without using your full name. It just jumped into my head as I was reading your post :)
That's on my shortlist too Ash! :D
At the moment the front runner is Gigglebox
Oooooh so cute!
time for a new thread everyone
