Hi Ladies!

eza - 7kg!!! That is big! I was thinking my little one was a big boy - he weighed in on Tuesday at his 6wk appointment at 6kg on the dot, so will be interesting to see how your weighing goes tomorrow.

DS was 62cm long (!!) at his 6wk appointment, although I think the Dr. was a bit slap dash at the measuring. That's a gain of 9cm from his birth length.

nickle - how did you go with the Gaviscon - hoping it helped Miss P. Good luck with the PND - as you probably know it's best to catch these things early and keep an eye on things than let it get out of hand. Hope you have lots of support to help you out.

Audax - hope you and your loved ones are all safe and well.

AFM - DS has a nice bedtime routine (well the last 3 nights) going, and we have stopped needing 2 hour settling at nights, which is wonderful. Mind you, it isn't happening tonight - it seems he has forgotten he needs a last feed and is fast asleep - despite our jollying to wake him up! He is loving going out - we spent 5 hours at the Schutzenfest yesterday and he was great. Done lots of socialising with both kids over summer and it has all been relatively easy.

well the docs were all booked out today so have to make it for tomorrow.. was hanging to find out how much he weighs.. lol
I was planning to go shopping tomorrow but don't think I will now, KP (His new nickname..lol) will be getting his needles and I don't wanna be walking through the shops with an unhappy bubba.. I wonder how I will cope with it, Don't like seeing him in pain.. He pulls this face that makes you want to cry with him!! Bottom lip comes out an all!! lol

Is everyone else getting their bubba's immunised?? I don't know anyone who is against it and all my family have their kids done so I never really thought to read into it.. But have seen a few posts about anti-immunisation with researchers saying that it does more harm than good.. Just interested in others opinions :) My partner is definately all for it so even if I want to think twice about it, I would have an argument on my hands.. lol

Hi Eza, I had Amelia done last week - just have baby panadol on hand in case of temp, aches or pains. Millie was fine, just a little more yelling than usual so I gave her a minimal dose of panadol and she was fine. I understand your anxiety though. My DH knows a guy at work whose son had a BAD reaction, so my DH was very anti. I am aware of the risks and was watching DD like a hawk for about 24 hours afterwards, but my reasons for immunisation were: 1) when I was little we had family friends whose son was sick with leukaemia so couldn't be immunised. Every time chicken pox or any other basic childhood illness went through the school, he had to be kept home. Immunising my child also helps to protect kids who can't be immunised. 2) a good friend of mine contracted whooping cough in her last few weeks of pregnancy, and she and her little boy had to be treated with hardcore drugs before, during and after her highly medicalised birth. 3) You have to weigh up the risks - the risk of a bad reaction to the shots versus a severe case of a preventable disease.

I do believe that it is up to the individual, but I personally feel a really strong sense of social responsibility to have my DD immunised. Just my opinion.

...that said, we didn't do hep b at birth as we're not carriers and it seemed a lot for a tiny body to deal with, esp as her scheduled shots cover her from 6 weeks.

I agree with purple pixie - I do think it's a social responsibility to immunise, but we also chose not to have hep B at birth. Happy to do all the rest at the required times though.

Going to do a post about breastfeeding dresses - keen to find one that's not a maternity dress - anyone know of any? I have lost all my preg weight and don't want swathes of material around me to "hide any bumps", but love wearing summer dresses and am finding my normal ones don't have enough bust room or are impractical for breastfeeding.

Hi Star, try queenbee maternity... it's a bit expensive but could give you ideas of what to look for? I bought the Brigette dress for a wedding when I was 30 weeks pregnant and wore it to bf at Christmas - I still have a small tummy but the fabric is not at all distorted to a 30 week belly shape. Even though I'm not bf anymore I will probably wear it for Amelia's baptism in March - for the price I had better get some wear out of it :)

I'm going to go shopping with Mum this week when she comes down... I have lost a lot of my baby weight but nothing fits - my shape has totally changed. My maternity pants fall down and I hear you on the excess fabric for the tops and dresses. Getting dressed in the morning is pretty depressing at the moment!

KP just braved his first needles!! He was sooo good, only let out one big cry on each leg. I cried more than he did :( Now I'm in paranoid mode incase he has a reaction.

7.6 Kg!!! No wonder my back gets sore!! Length is 58cm and H/C is 40cm. He is the size of a 3 month old!! I definately feel like a Daisy cow now :lol:

Ebay has some really cute nursing wear.. a few of them are reasonable but there are some pricey ones.. The nursing singlets I got fom Target were $40 each!! rediculous.

We will be immunising as well. I have an appt at the GP on Friday morning for it. I thought it best to check that my other kids are up to date with whooping cough and I have discovered that my DS seems to have missed his 4 year old shots. So on Friday Miss P has her 8 weeks, DS will have his 4 year olds and I will get a whooping cough booster (haven't managed to get it yet!). What a miserable way to spend the morning, will have to do something nice afterwards. My DD never reacted at all to her immunisations, DS was a bit febrile and miserable for 24 hours or so after. Hope Miss P is like DD!

My goodness, all these beautiful big bubba's in here! Miss P was only 4.5kg at 7 weeks. She is being weighed again next week. My DD is very small for her age but she was born small (5pd 10oz at FT). Maybe Miss P was born bigger but will be little like her sister?

I bought some nursing singlets at Target which only cost $16 but they're not great quality. I tend to wear a stretchy spaghetti strap singlet under whatever normal top I like. I undo my BF bra and pop my boob over the top of the singlet (out the neck) the pull up the outer top. I feel pretty well covered and discreet. I also have some great V-neck dresses and I just pop my boob (my boobs seem to 'pop' a lot!!) out the neckline.

Feeding is going well here. We don't have a routine, Miss P just eats when she's hungry. She has a couple of comp feeds (maybe 3 or so?) a day, after BF if she is not satisfied. She refuses the FF overnight and just has one or two BF's. We are co-sleeping so overnight is pretty easy. I am still giving her Gaviscon for what I suspect is silent reflux and it has made a noticeable difference to how settled Miss P is during the day. Having said that, the only place she will sleep during the day is in her swing or on my chest and even then she doesn't sleep for more than 30 minutes. If I put her in her cot she SCREECHES. I have also tried her pram, my bed, the couch... you name it!! She loves a sling and I have several of them but I have back problems and I simply can't carry her all day long. Anyway, as long as she sleeps at night I can cope. Perhaps she will eventually learn to sleep during the day!

We haven't booked ours but now that i have had the reminder i will be doing it as soon as the doc opens!
Is it really 2 needles? i can't remember that far back with Miss Em! i get DH to take them because im a major sook when it comes to needles!

Im worried something might be wrong with Miss Em..... all she does is sleep, sleep, sleep is this normal? Miss B never slept, and still dosent so im so not use to it!

Hi girls, sounds like everyones bubba's are going really well.

Nickle - I'm glad Miss P seems better on the gaviscon. And well done on the bf'ing.

I am feeling very time poor at the moment and don't get a chance to get on here so just had a big read to catch up on everything.

Things here are going well. Campbell is on a roughly 4hrly routine but I can't wait for him to drop the 4am feed, it is killing me! DH is now doing the late evening feed which is great as I have been going to bed earlier which is helping with the sleep depravation. By this age Caitlin was already sleeping through!

Campbell had his last Ebm on Christmas day so is now fully on formula and he definitely sleeps better. He is doing well with his weight gain, at his 8 week appt he was 4.175g and 53.9cm.

I have just moved him from wrapping to sleeping bags as no matter how tight we wrapped him he managed to wriggle out and get the wrap all caught up around his head so now I feel more comfortable that he is safe when he goes to bed. He didn't like it the first night but seems to be ok with it now!

I have just started pilates to try and strengthen my pelvis & pubic region as hockey pre-season has started but I am still having the same problems I had just before and during my pg and the physio said if I go back to training as I am it will all just flare up again. I am really wanting to play so I hope the pilates works. Now that I am not bf'ing i don't have to contend with the relaxin hormones so fingers crossed!

I hope the others that were having pelvic pain are better now.

Anyway, this is getting a bit long! Am going to try and get in here more regularly. Hope you are all well. Jo :)

NICKLE - My little man is the same.. During the day will only sleep on me or the swing. I don't like putting him in there all the time but with DP back at work, I need the time to do other stuff.

HJ - I'm not sure about the sleeping thing. KP is the opposite! I feel that he isn't getting enough sleep.. He sleeps beautifully at night but during the day he will only sleep about a max 3 hours of naps all up. I do wish he would sleep more but as long as he is happy in the meantime and not grumpy then its okay.

JO - Great to hear from you! So glad that Campbell is doing well. KP loves being wrapped now. He never used to but we have had a couple of cool nights and now he won't settle at night without being snuggled up. He also wriggles out of them but I feel it would be too hot for a sleeping bag, unless there are some light clothed ones available, may have to look around.

Well I'm sitting at home patiently waiting for the new cot to arrive that I ordered online. Waited all day fri, then yesterday until finally I got a call back saying that it will definately arrive today.. I hope so, sick of sitting at home all day. Although I walked up to the docs early this morning.. KP has an umbilical granuloma.. got the silver nitrate treatment so hopefully it will shrivel up and fall off without needing a second treatment.

I am now exclusively expressing and it has made things so much easier!! I express around every 4 hours at the moment. Don't have the issues with wind and belly pains anymore. And with my big supply and very fast flow.. It only takes me about 10 mins to express a bottle.. Most of the time I am able to get extra so getting a good freezing stock up now :) Will come in handy for when i go to see rhianna next month. Planning on having a HUGE night with my girls!! So excited, can't wait!!

I think I have blabbered on long enough. Hope all are well :)

Wow, we're pretty quiet in here - we must all be busy with the bubba's!

hj, I'm not sure about the sleep either, but I suspect that as long as you are getting in enough feeds then you should just enjoy it!

eza, your poor little man and his umbilicus! Did the silver nitrate bother him at all? I had the silver nitrate treatment on my episiotomy after DD1 as I had an area of granulation... OMG!!! Wish I could have had an epidural for that, the OB had to peel me off the ceiling when he was done...

AFM, we didn't have any success with the Gaviscon and Miss P is now taking Zantac. She seems to be spewing more but it is not bothering her like it used to. She still sleeps really well at night in our bed, but she doesn't sleep at all during the day. At all. Yesterday she slept for a total of 20 minutes. OMG!! She is generally pretty unsettled unless I am cuddling her, and she will fall asleep in my arms... but then her little eyes pop open as soon as I put her down! Still, I keep reminding myself that she is sleeping all night (with a couple of sleepy BF's) so it could be worse! We did have a great day of sleep on Saturday, but then she screeched most of the night! I thought on Saturday that it must have been the Zantac kicking in but I think now it was probably related to her immunisations on friday... bugger!

I feel a lot better and brighter in myself and although I am finding it exhausting that Miss P doesn't have daytime sleeps I am very much in love with her and I certainly wouldn't send her back! Hope you ladies are all doing well!

ETA - we had the MCHN yesterday and Miss P is now 4.7kg, which the nurse was happy with and said her gain is fine!

Bub's didn't flinch once when the doc was applying it.. In fact he was smiling and laughing throughout the whole appointment! lol He is very cheeky when he wants to be! Especially at 4 in the morning. As soon as you peek your head over the side of the cot, a big grin comes over his face! Adorable yet soooo annoying!! lol

Hello Mummies and Bubs!

Well Miss Em is still sleeping like a trooper but am not worried anymore im going with the flow! at 8wks she had a check up and she is almost 6kgs so well and truely thriving and sleeping is not affecting her feeding so i guess all is good!

marknjo - that awesome that Campbell is on some sort of routine! i wish we had one! i think i might start writing down feed and nap time and see if i can work one out! also trying to get Miss Em out of wrapping cause she just unwraps herself but at this stage wont go down for her night time sleep without being wrapped! day time she is fine!

eza - is KP sleeping better during the day? and WOOOHOOOO on exclusive expressing! that is hard work! how do u do it?

nickle - how is Miss P going now? is she sleeping better during the day?

Hope bubs is happy now *star*! Miss P is currently content as I am tied to the couch with her resting on my chest! She has developed a large dose of the 'mummy loves' and is not happy with anyone else for more than a few minutes. Poor DH is feeling rejected! Anyone else?

nickle - know what it's like for your poor DH when daddy just won't cut it. We had that at some stage with DD, although with DS he doesn't much mind yet. He adores his big sister, though, so all smiles for her!

In other news, DS was weighed again during the week - up to 6.7kg at 8 weeks and 62cm long.

Ah! No time again, now DD wants to check email from Nanna!!

nickle - yep we got that issue here also! and i think poor DH is really feeling it! with DD1 when she went through it he didn't mind so much as i was formula feeding so he still could do feeds etc.. but with Emily im breastfeeding so its mum, mum, mum and more mum! she is also going through a stage where she just wants to be picked up all the time! i wish i had the time to do that but i just don't!

HJ - I have been slowly getting KP to have a proper sleep around lunch. A couple of times I have left him in his cot to whinge but eventually he puts himself to sleep. Hopefully it will become easier. Expressing is hard and time consuming but so is trying to settle an unhappy bubba. So I prefer it this way :)

Nickle - KP is a mummy's boy when it's time for sleep but play time, I never get the kind of smiles that he gives his daddy!!

Little noodle has a serious case of the mummy loves! Also a lot of dadda loves, but the cheeky little mite will yell like a banshee when anyone else holds her (especially if they're wearing perfume) and then, when handed back to me, she's all smiles. I love it.

We have had such a rubbish day. Four half hour sleeps, so by 5pm she was super grumpy and not feeding well. SO I fed her in my bed, and now she's been in the sling asleep for an hour and a half. I don't know why I try and sleep her anywhere else.

Feeding is still going really well, I love it so much. But I absolutely cannot express. Just doesn't happen. Half an hour might net 20mL. And it's pointless anyway, because she won't take a bottle. So bugger it, I say!

audax it usually doesnt take that long to express more than enough for feeds. In half an hour i am able to get between 150-180ml. Thats every 3.5-4 hours (except nights i will only express once). KP will usually drink around 120-150ml.

Managed to get him to bed at 7:30 tonight! Hopefully i can get it to at least 6:30-7 (although it's still daylight at that time). Wat times are your LO's going down for the night? When bub goes down at 9, he will sleep til between 4-5. Will be interesting to see how he goes tonight.

I'm off to bed, feeling knackered tonight!

Eza - he must have known you needed the sleep! Well done KP. We are putting DS down around 8ish, as DD goes to bed at 7:30, so there is a bit of time for DH and I before I tire and go to bed! DS will generally wake about 3 or 4 in the morning after this. I am considering trying a dream feed at 10:30ish when I go to bed and seeing what happens - maybe he'd sleep through to morning?! Don't want to ruin the good thing we've got going though!

I'm a fast expresser, too! Very fast flow (sometimes too fast) in general, so it doesn't take me long either. I have let downs at the drop of a hat, too, which can be inconvenient. I guess it doesn't matter, Audax, if she won't take the bottle anyway. We haven't tried DS on a bottle yet, but have three bottles of EBM in the freezer. Am going to get DH to give bottle feeding him a go. It was around this age that we gave DD a try and all went well. Have a hens night and wedding in March that it might be nice to go to without DS, but no hassle if he has to come with us.

At what age are you guys comfortable with leaving a little one in grandparents care for a feed? Can't remember what I did with DD!

oh man!!!! LOL i wish i was a fast expresser! but nope im a slow one! but im trying to get my stock up for when i go back to uni and for when i have follow through appointments, so DD2 has already had a few bottles of EBM, im starting to think she likes the bottle more too, as she fusses sooooo much on the breast that it drives me nuts! don't know what it is! i can't say it because she finds the bottle easier, because i don't think she has had enough bottle feeds to realise that yet?! but oh well, i would really like to continue feeding breast milk either way so will see how it all goes!

As for Miss Emily she goes to bed somewhere between 8-9pm and wakes around 6-7am - with the occassional 4am feed but not very often! so a good night time sleeper here!

Star - Hmmm im not yet comfortable with leaving Emily in care of anyone but myself or DH for a feed yet, or at all! i didn't leave DD1 with anyone until hmmm i think she was about 15mths! LOL - but with Emily i unfortunally will have to leave her around 12wks old with her Pop! so not looking forward to it but i would rather that than childcare!

Well done on EE Eza. It is not as bad as people seem to think although you sound more committed than I was, I didn't get up to express overnight once my flow kicked in!

Depending on what time Campbell wakes in the morning decides his bedtime at the moment. He gets a bottle every 4 hours from when he wakes up. Usually he will be in bed between 7 & 8. We give him a dream feed between 10.30 and 12 and then he sleeps anywhere from 4 to 6 hours before he wakes for a feed. The 4 hr nights kill me! I've just given him a dream feed while typing this post and he has sculled 170ml so hopefully tonight will be a long sleep!

Had a busy week here. The little Miss turned 3 so we had 3 days of partying with different people! She had a great time which was great. And so spoilt by everyone.

As for sleeping bags, if you buy ones with a tog rating they come with a card telling you which one to use at what temps and what to dress bubs in. Tonight Campbells room is 27oC and he is wearing a s/s body suit in a .5 tog bag and is sleeping soundly. He hasn't even stirred during his dreamfeed!

Big downer on stopping expressing here, AF came back last week :( so sad!

Only 1 week to go until the little miss starts 3yo kinder she is growing up too fast! She has finally got TT which is great as no more having to change two kids bums!

It sounds like everyones bubs are doing really well which is great to hear! For those of you battling reflux, our paed told us to start using thickener in Campbells feeds and it is working great. He is a lot less unsettled after feeds and chucks a lot less!

Anyway that's enough of an essay. Little man is back in bed fast asleep and I am off to bed myself!

Well, I'm bright eyed and bushy tailed after nearly 8 hours straight last night! Noodle went from 8:20-4:00, and then 4ish to 6:30. I woke at 5:50 feeling like a new person! She's asleep in the sling now and my housework is done, and dinner is on! Wooohooo!

She has officially busted out of her 0000s now though :( No idea how much she weighs, with Christmas closures it was hard to get an appt, and with the floods the one we did have was pushed back, but we're going tomorrow, so should be interesting! She's due for needles this week, but I'm pushing it out to next week. I'm a total sook too, and not looking forward to it at all!

audax - I also have the house done and dinner on.. corned lamb in the slow cooker. mmmm.. love it. Although KP isn't alseep so had to entertain him in the bouncer whilst running around the house. Didn't manage the full night last night, woke at 2 for a feed then back down til 7 so wasn't too bad. Awww how cute! Noodle in 000's, KP is in 00's now!! He is long tho, I always get the :o face when I tell people how old he is.. :lol: How did you go with the floods? hope your house wasn't affected at all!!

I'm also not quite comfortable with leaving KP in the care of anyone. I have until june off work so will see how goes. May go back a little earlier. DP and I are going to Rihanna concert at the end of Feb so will be leaving bub's with someone, not sure who yet, all the fam are already fighting over who will look after him.. have already ruled certain people due to ferral kids which i don't trust around bubs (I mean ferral!! lol) and an unhygenic house (ALWAYS too messy and unclean). May even start an auction!! lol.

eza - I'm wondering when DS will be into 00's. Hoping it's not too soon - I love his 000 wardrobe and to have to go out shopping for a whole new 00 set of clothes doesn't thrill me!

jo - bad luck about AF coming back. That sucks. But good that your DS is settling better now.

AFM - I am attempting "single parenting" (not really) for the next couple of weeks, as DH is away for work. I have scheduled people to come over for dinner each night, as well as a couple of overnight stays for DD. I find the 5-8pm timeslot impossible without help. DS is usually whingey and DD needs attention, feeding, bathing and getting ready for bed. More than I can cope with! So my visitors get dinner in return for lots of helping out, LOL!

Audax - sounds like you had a good day yesterday - love it when you feel so organised and things get done in the mornings. Hasn't happened for me recently, though. Thought this morning might be the morning, as DD is at occasional care at the kindy for the morning, but DS was having none of that. Guess he figured he had a chance at my undivided attention and so was lapping it up!

Miss Emily had her needles today! she cried a little and has been fine since! PHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Organised days are OVER! Baby on total day sleep strike, and had a good solid go at keeping me up last night too. Right now she is asleep on my chest. DH has said not to worry about the housework, he would rather come home to happy mum and baby and do it all himself! I think we just had two awesome weeks of sleeping due to growth spurt, and now she is back to writhing little prawn status.

Went to Child Health on Tuesday, and buggaluggs is weighing in at 5.285kg. It was the length that blew me away though - she's now 60cm. And in her first 00 today, a little dress with a pink wool nappy cover underneath and she looks so so so cute. Apart from the scrunched up face :lol: She's having a reasonable sleep now (albeit on my chest) so hopefully she wakes up happier.

LOL writhing little prawn! thats a nice way of putting it! Audax we went through that stage last week and i had a bit of a break down :( in front of Miss B also, she ended up getting me a tissure wiping my tears and saying "it's not that bad mummy" so sweet! and my hubby said the same thing (arn't they sweet) but stupid me still stressed and kept the house clean!

Hello Ladies!! Hope everyone and their bubba's are well!!

Aww how cute audax.. I so so hope my next one is a girl!!! lol and star I also feel like I'm single parenting, as DP starts 6:30 and doesnt get home til 8ish most nights!! Hopefully that won't last too long :( although I don't have a 3yr old as well, hope it all goes well for you..

I had a breakdown the night before last.. KP was being a little bugger! Come 4:00am with barely any sleep and whinging bub.. Caved and put him in the swing for an hour while I napped on the couch! I think the heat really gets to him.. been soooo muggy at nights its horrible.. BRING ON WINTER!!

I've been wondering about teething.. KP has been drooling lots (getting dribble rash) and tends to bite down. As soon as anything is in his hands it goes straight to his mouth and starts chomping.. Can't see any swelling or redness tho. I really hope not yet!!

Is it normal that he has slowed down on his poo's?? Went from almost every feed, to every couple of feeds, then once in the morning, and now he hasn't pooed since yesterday morning.. I know that babies can go up to a week without pooping (I think you had that Audax???) not sure if i should be getting concerned or not.. so it's either one or the other that has been making him unsettled.. Might wait til my mum comes on the wknd and see what she thinks..

In other exciting news (not for some!), have a meet tonight to organise my tattoo.. going to continue on that tatt I already have, thinking of including something that represents KP.. Will see if it works.. If not, there's always next time.. lol DP is getting his name around his forearm so it looks as tho its been branded on, should look really good.

eza - we have lots of drooling and munching on things here too! im hoping its not teething so soon! but was thinking maybe it's just the fact that they have discovered their hands etc and they can start producing saliva now?? but really no idea! another thing - the poo's have slowed down here as well! but im not concerened!

Yeah - I wouldn't worry about the poos slowing down. DS is still fairly regular, but definitely less than earlier on.

DS is loving chewing on his hands - almost so much he gags. I thing it's less of a teething thing and more that they've just discovered what they can do, like hj said. I figure if you have your hands in and around your mouth that much you are going to dribble!

Audax - that dress sounds cute for DD, mind you the prawn analogy has me giggling, imagining a prawn in a little pink dress.

DS isn't into any 00s yet, even though he's a bruiser. At least this guy's proportionate - I looked up to see when DD was 62 cm long and she was almost 4 months old. Mind you she weighed 7.5kg by then - little butterball!! She had such a round tummy - am noticing it's more evenly spread on DS!

eza- 13 days is our poo record.

We hung out at the shops today, to beat the heat. Little bunny loved it, with so many new faces to smile at! I'v got her on the boob now - she is trying to smile and suck at the same time - soooo cute!

Audax - don't you just love it when they try to smile and suck at the same time! so so cute it totally melts your heart! Im so glad i have stuck bfing out to see that! Miss Em also likes to fill her mouth up than spit it all out! cheecky!!!

So sorry to hear that Kel. It has been so nice sharing our pregnancy journeys together and the start of our baby journeys too. It is such a shame you won't be around to continue our little group. If you or BB changes such that you can come back, please pop in here again.

We had the night from hell last night. Our little muffin is really uncomfortable at the moment and I can't work out what it is. She's not sleeping more than half an hour at a time, and just squirming, seemingly in pain, all the time. Can't see any real issues and we haven't really done anything differently, although she is just about due for a poo. And it's so bloody hot!
