Oh Lira, sorry to hear about Jarvis getting sick, fingers crossed everything starts to get better now.
MCHN weighed Charli on Monday arvo and she now weighs 4975g which the MCHN is very happy with, she said i should be very proud, which i am, my lil baby is getting big but luckily shes still very nb looking.

We thought we were through the worst of it, Katie slept for 9 hours straight the other night...woohoo! but there has been no repeat. Daddy is spending hours rocking her to sleep, she just won't go down on her own during the day, and if we're lucky she might self-settle once at night. Today we haven't been able to leave here alone at all and she's had two 15 minute naps and lots of screaming...motherhood is not bliss today.
Oh FussyBoots, i feel your pain, during the day anyway, Charli only likes to be held during the day sometimes and its very frustrating but as i said she only does it sometimes so i can only imagine how your feeling. Tried a dummy?
Charli sleeps really well during the night, sleeps between feeds which range from between 2-6hrs and goes straight back to sleep after a feed. Mind you im still having daytime naps whenever i get the chance. lol.
Kirra, we've tried just about everything, and most of it works, for a while...and then it doesn't. By afternoon she is so overtired that she doesn't know what she wants to do. All she knows is she doesn't like being left alone. We bought a new pram yesterday and she seems to enjoy being in it...today at least...doesn't go to sleep, but at least she's calm for a little bit. Hopefully its just a phase...unfortunately I think she is used to being rocked to sleep now though. We'll have to be a bit more hard-hearted and break her of that habit, otherwise we're going to fall to pieces. She's just gone down again...10 minutes and counting, hopefully this will be her big night-time sleep...at least she's pretty good at those.

FussyBoots- It could just be the 6 week growth spurt? fingers crossed it is anyway, have you tried putting her on the floor with her nappy off? that settles charli almost all the time, sometimes she'll stay quiet for about half hour, mind you she could also be watching tv.
Charli only woke once last night, fed at 9.30 then slept til 1.30 and then fed and went back to sleep until 6. Was good but once she got up at 6 she didnt wanna go back down, i got her to sleep for half hour from 9-9.30 but now she's awake having nappy free time on the floor, peace for now.
I better go fix the washing up while she's quiet. haha
Hey FB have you got a hug-a-bub?? if not you should get 1 jarvis has been really unsettled after his morning feeds and i now just put him in it and i can do my house work and after about half an hr i take him out as he is really out to it by then and put him in the rocker or cot and he has a good sleep for about 4 hrs.
Jarvis only put on 40 grams this week god i hope he doesnt go back to where we were with him the dr said it still is a gain so i should be happy. It sure is hard trying to get my supply up again now that he has had a bottle he gets quite upset when my mlik stops pouring out i have to use the breast pump an hr after each feed to try get it up to where it should be it takes so much time and i'm finding it hard with an 18 month old that just wants her mummy.

Oh Lira you poor thing you must be run off your feet i only just noticed your same age as me and have 3 now. wow. your doing a good job, i'm so tired with two.
GL with getting the milk supply back up, have you tried fenugreek? is supposed to help build up your milk supply, i had it for a couple of days when charli was about a week old and i got so engorged i stopped taking them. They are completely natural so i would ask your doc or MCHN about them :)
Welcome Shannon! Congrats on your babies. I applaud anyone who is a mother of twins! I find it a challenge with just one!
Fussyboots, I know exactly how you feel. Samuel settles himself well after night feeds but sometimes during the day he likes to catnap for 15 mins at a time and then gets overtired and very hard to settle! Some days are really good with him having a few short sleeps and then one three hour sleep but then other days it doesn't matter what we do he just won't stay down. Today is one of those days!! :wall:
I'm having a flare-up with my rheumatoid arthritis at the moment. I'm in constant pain and am really struggling with picking Samuel up during the night and early morning to feed him because I'm so stiff and sore when I wake up. Not sure what I'm going to do. I really want to keep breastfeeding until he's 6 months but I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep going like this. I really need to go on a stronger medication but I can't while I'm BFing. I'm going to try expressing so my DH can do the night feeds, at least for the next two weeks as he's on holidays and doesn't have to get up early for work. I'm so disappointed. :(
Lira - I'm glad Jarvis has put on weight. I know it doesn't sound much but like your dr said - it is a gain. I agree with Kirra about trying the fenugreek. A couple of ladies at my mum's group have had success with it.
thanks guys. the whole sleep thing with Katie is really getting me down at the moment. DP put her down tonight and even though she refused to go to sleep and he had to go back over and over until it was pretty much time to feed her again, he says he thinks she was getting closer to being happy to be put down...I hope he's right.
It's my birthday tomorrow, turning 41, I hope that I feel happier than today.
Charli has just gone down for a nap so im all for catching up on threads, lol. She screamed almost the whole way home from dropping alyssa off at childcare and it was sooo heartbreaking her cry, as soon as i picked her up she just sobbed on my shoulder, it was so adorbale yet so sad. She is also now in infant nappied, she was 4975g last monday so she'd def be over the 5kg mark now and the nb nappies were a lil small, you could almost see her bum crack. lol. I ended up giving the 10 or so that were left to alyssa for her doll that pee's. haha, works out cheaper than those baby alive nappies anyway.

I know it can get really hard sometimes when they won't settle but having your DH there will help alot, it does take a while for them to self settle but once they get into it you'll be soooo glad you stuck with it. Alyssa was almost 1 when i took her to sleep clinic cause i just couldnt do it anymore and it was alot harder cause she was so 'used' to getting nursed and cuddled to sleep, but also keep in mind that sometimes babies just need a cuddle to sleep and once every now and then wont get them into a bad habit.
GL Melsa with the rheumatoid arthritis hopefully it settles down for you soon, if not and you have to switch to formula dont feel guilty at least you gave it your best (some mums dont even give bf a second though they go straight to formula, not judging them of course) and you could always express one bottle a day of breast milk, some if still better than none ;)

Long time no post!! I miss you all heaps!! It's been super busy around here thats for sure - Ethan won't take a dummy and needs lots of cuddles etc and is usually up until 10pm evernight unsettled...thus no time on the computer for me usually...
Wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas though!!! I hope you have a super special xmas with your new bubs!! Hoping the new year brings us all sleeping bubs! LOL!
We're off to Bonnie doon to the PIL on boxing day so I'm hoping to take the computer up so I can write to you all properly!! (some quiet time to myself is just what I need at the moment!!) We'll see if it happens though...otherwise dh is finishing work today and then off until the 12th so I'm sure I'll manage to catch up before then!!

Hi guys. I hope you all had a fantastic first christmas with your new additions. Logan had a great day and got spoilt by everyone. I had him weighed at his 8 week appointment yesterday. He is now 6.18kg and 59cm. He has grown 800 g and 4cm in 4 weeks, a very healthy boy. He has started only pooing every 2nd day now, but they are massive explosive ones - the last two have been so bad that they have escaped everywhere!!!

Thats awesome Kylie about logans weight gain, charli is averaging 90g a week which the mchn says is a lil under what she would like (they say 150g is better) but she is happy and healthy so im not worried.
LOL @ the explosive poo's, charli's are like that sometimes, she poo's everyday sometimes up to 4 times but the expolsive ones are funny cause DP wont change them he makes even more mess. lol.

Samuel is doing really well. He no longer fits the newborn nappies and is wearing 000 size clothes now. Even though he was born 8 lbs he's got his daddy's long and lean figure (I'm so jealous!). I was looking at some photos yesterday of him in his first week. Can you believe how quickly they grow and change?
It's been so hot here this past week - over 35 each day - so we haven't been doing much except staying indoors in the air conditioning.

Charli is the same Melsa, she's been in 'infant' nappies now for almost 2 weeks and she's just gone up to "00" in the bonds wondersuits cause her legs are too long for the "000"
The last 2 weeks she's been coo'ing and goo'ing and smiling heaps and we've even got a couple of laughs out of her, they are just gorgeous although i havent managed to catch it on the video camera yet cause its still in the car from xmas, talk about lazy. lol
Better go get dressed if we wanna get the grocery shopping done today, i've got about 1.5 hrs if im lucky before she wakes up for her next feed so i better get a wiggle on.
Hi. I hope everyone and their bubs are well as it has been very quiet in here lately. Logan is getting his 8 week needles tomorrow, hopefully he it will not be too bad!! DH is coming with me so that will be nice.
We are almost into 00s and crawler nappies as Logan is just growing so fast. I have already had to pack up a whole heap of his clothes that don't fit any more :( My SIL is already putting aside her size 3 clothes for him which he won't need for a couple of years but it is still good to know that i won't have to buy too much.
He's looks so cute Kylie. I hear ya on the getting big, Alyssa didnt weigh 5kg until she was almost 12wks old Charli was only 7wks and already she weighs over 5kg. lol. All her 000 still fit her though with the exception of her Bonds wondersuits which she is too long for now. She's such a chubber but i love it.
Hi girls, I'm just amazed too at how quickly our bubs are growing. Katie weighed in at 4.9 kg today, bang on average apparently. We had to rush out last week and buy her a cot as she outgrew her bassinet over Christmas and we had her sleeping on a sofa seat cushion on the floor for a few days. We've become a sucker for the gadgets. We have a baby monitor now, a musical mobile over the change table and looking for another one for the cot, a bouncer that vibrates (Katie looks very disconcerted when we turn it on...very cute), and we're contemplating one of the those baby swings to get her to sleep.
She no longer goes to sleep if you put her to bed, she has to be walked, rocked in the pram, or breastfed to go to sleep. It's a bit tiring.
On the upside she is much calmer and does actually sleep a bit during the day now...thanks to Infants Friend. When we were home over Christmas my sister (a NICU nurse in Brisbane) took one look at her and said that she obviously had wind...we felt like real idiots. We'd known that she had a bit, but apparently she'd been incredibly uncomfortable for weeks. We rushed out Boxing Day and bought the last bottle in the chemist and she was better within in hours...my DP says that he loves our 'new' baby.
We have a couple of challenges this week. We want to try and teach her to go to sleep in her cot, its going to be a bit of slog we think but we'll have to be strong...we've started a bit in the last couple of days, but I have to send DP away because even though we agree on how long we'll try for, he can't stand her crying and always wants to pick her up within minutes. I stay with her and I tell him to come in when the time is up.
She is also having her shots on Friday, hopefully she's more like me than DP, he hates needles.
Off to my first Parents Group meeting at the clinic on Thursday, hopefully we'll all click. I'm too likely to keep to myself and really need to get out and socialise with other mums.

That excellent she seems to be doing very well Fussyboots. I too had a stranger comment that charli had wind while she was sleeping in the pram one day when i was shopping, i felt extremely stupid but the said when they pull their legs up when their sleeping and move around its cause they had wind. Atleast i know now.
Charli is sleeping in her bassinette only at night, she's almost outgrown it but i just dont wanna part with her at night yet. lol. She's been sleeping during the day in her cot for about a week now and she's doing really well, i wrap her lay her down turn her teddy on (it glows dif colours) and give her the dummy and leave. She usually spits the dummy out before i even leave the room but after about 5 minutes of sooking and sometimes crying she goes to sleep. Havent mastered it at night yet though, she still wants to be held and nursed to sleep then.

Samuel had a visit to the MCHN yesterday. I didn't realise we have to see a GP or Paed as well! I thought the MCHN did everything! I'll have to get on to that. Sammy weighs 4.86kg now and has grown from 53cm at birth to 58 1/2cm now! He too is really too big for the bassinette but I'm like you Kirra - I'm not ready for him to leave our room at night yet!
He's lots of fun now that he is more responsive with smiles and coo'ing. He is also very nosey! Likes to know what's going on all around him!
I've got mum's group today. Don't know if I want to venture out in the heat but it's down by the beach so shouldn't be too bad!

Hi, havent posted for a while just been really busy over Christmas etc. Glad to hear everyone seems to be going well.
David is alot better now. I (reluctantly) had to put him fully on the bottle as he was losing weight and I just couldnt get my supply going (I would pump away for half an hour and only have a miserable 30 mls.) plus everytime I tried to attach him he would scream and cry and pull away and in the end it felt like I was torturing him. :cry: But anyway he's happy now and last weight was exactly 4kg. He's smiling alot, has the odd unsettled day, but sleeps well at night.
He loves watching his noisy brothers and smiles as soon as he sees them. Thats funny how a few of you were talking about your little ones having wind because thats what my mum says all the time "He's drawing his legs up, he's got wind" shes said it so many times that now my other son Adam who's 4, says everytime David cries "Maybe he's got wind." lol.
Does anybody else have school age children? its hard keeping them entertained during holidays with a baby as well.

Thought I'd better introduce myself in this thread (was with the Babies Due Nov 15-30) and Willow arrived 12 Nov. Firstly I can't believe how quickly this time has been flying and that our little girl is already 8 weeks old. I am sure that the pregnancy didn't go so fast. Since NYE she has more or less slept through from 11-5 (one exception). So not sure what the hell I am doing up at 2am :doh: but have been awake since 12am and finally figured it was a good time to catch up here.
We had our paed appt on Tues. she is now 4.9kg and everything checked out well and Willow shouldn't have to see him again (fingers crossed). We will be back there though with Charlize in May :( unfortunately that will be an ongoing thing for while yet (another story)
Willow has just had the last wears out of her 0000's and into the 000's. a little bit sad about her growing up so quickly trying to enjoy every moment as this will probably be the last time for us, DH is adamant that our family is definitely completed.
Have been BF'g but afternoon/evenings have been a bit of a struggle as I'm not sure if I am just not producing enough milk for her as she seems to want to constantly feed sometimes up to 3-4hrs with only a few 10min breaks anywhere between 4-11pm. Has made it interesting when DD1 usually goes through a bedtime routine (dinner, bath, teeth and bed) between 5.30-7 and is a big problem to keep her in bed - lately has been up to 9pm before we can finally get her into sleep and I am trying to get Willow satisfied through this ...probably half the problem not being able to just relax and feed.
Anyway getting close to 3am now, so must attempt to get some shuteye as almost guaranteed that someone will want me up within a couple of hours....had one morning that Willow woke at 1am and then 4am for an hour each time and I was enjoying a bit of a "sleep in" after settling her when at 6am I was lifted out of the bed to the dulcet tones of "My Sharona" blaring through the house - DD1 had put one of her favourite 70's cd on the intercom system and the speaker in our room was turned to full volume.....(now who taught her how to do that DH?????) He took to sleeping across the other side of the house in order not to get woken through the night when I got up to Willow within about a week of coming home.:rolleyes:

Miss Charli slept sooo well last night from 8.15pm - 6.20am and only woke up once between then at 1am for a her feed and went straight back to sleep. I love it when she sleeps like that at night. Maybe its the cot, i've moved her from the bassinette cause she's too long and what room she does have between her head and the top (bout 20cm) she moved up anyway so atleast in the cot she can move up almost a mtr before she reaches the top. lol. I nearly didnt but it is def safer for her in the cot even if she is so far away. She's also been self settling with the exception of the afternoons where she doesnt seem to wanna sleep at all. Her legs are so strong, she stands on me and bobs up and down, its quite cute, she's also laughing now, esp when i tickle her. She's growing up so fast i'm trying to cherish her and take lost of photo's while she's still small.
Alyssa is proving to be a lil hard to entertain lately, she always wants me to play or she complains she lonely which is quite heart breaking. She's also been very cheeky which i try to let go a lil cause she's had some big changes with a new baby lately but sometimes she can be a real brat, you'd think she was the mum.

Charli also feeds alot at night, between 4-8 she'll someetimes feed every half hour-hour but then she'll usually sleep longer at night, its like the's filling up for a big long sleep.
Nessie- Lys isnt school aged but i find her hard to entertain sometimes, esp with a baby attached to the boob, sorry to hear you had to put david onto a bottle, i remember when i run out of milk with alyssa at 10wks i had to put her on formula as i didnt know all the things i know now and i was heartbroken i cried all day.
Melsa- good to see samual is growing well. Charli is 57cm from 52cm at birth. Seems she's the biggest baby in here at about 5.2kg, i must have super fatty milk. lol

Lily is asleep but due to get up in half an hour. She slept so well last night - down by 9pm with a feed at 4.30am & then up at 8.30am. We had her 8 week check up, my little chunk weighs 5.92kgs & is 57cm long.
Wow, Pip has just fallen asleep on me. Poor thing is still trying to cut her last 2 molars. evil teeth!
I hate that I struggle to kep up with everyone's posts, it's always so long between visits for me these days since Pip has lost her afternoon slep (except for now!).
Hope that everyone is well. When I get a chance I have to check out everyones pics & I have to put some of my own up - my connection is sooooooooooo slow - I need an upgrade!

Kirra - Logan weighed 6.18kg 2 weeks ago at his 8 week checkup and 59cm - he is a big chubba!!
We had our 2 month needles on Tuesday night, Logan was really good but he pretty much slept all day yesterday, only waking up for regular feeds. I couldn't believe how much he slept. He is also sleeping through at night now. Usually from about 9ish to 5 or 6 in the morning (no feeds in that time). He has been moved into his cot and i think that is the reason he is sleeping so well - same as Charli he would move up the bassinette as he is kicking his legs all the time and fling his arms and hit the edges. I was a bit worried as his room is so far away and we don't have monitors, but i always seem to hear him.
Ness - sorry to hear about the bfing, but at least you know that David settles better now and you don't have to worry about the breast pump any more!!

Fussy - how is Katie going in her cot? I hope you haven't had too much trouble. I started Logan with his day sleeps and then put him in at night, we didn't have any troubles.
Melsa - the smiles just make all the hard work worth it - I have put a new photo in my signature which was taken on New Year's Day. It's my favourite photo atm :)

Hi all, I'm very jealous of all you girls with bubs who sleep through until early morning. We still regularly get a 1-2am feed happening, which would be OK except sometimes I don't wind down enough to get to sleep until 11!.
She has finally settled down after all our Christmas travelling and likes sleeping in the cot.
The self-settling training is progressing slowly. On Tuesday I stayed with her for 15 minutes, she was very unhappy and we got her up and put her to sleep using the pram. Yesterday we tried for 20 minutes, got her up, changed nappy, tried for another 20 minutes and she actually dropped off...for about 2 minutes...but now I know she can do it. Half an hour ago I put her down, already for the 20 minutes failure, after which I was planning on giving her a bath...and wouldn't you know it, I think the little blighter has gone to sleep as after an initial grizzle there hasn't been a peep out of her for the last 20 minutes or so...little victory dance :wiggle: (don't want to jinx it).
Had my first parents group today, they all seem like a lovely bunch, and there were a couple of familiar faces from antenatal classes...and of course my angel fed and then slept on a mat on the floor in front of me the whole time...why doesn't she do that at home? I think our house is too quiet.
Charli slept well again last time. From 8.30pm-6.20 with only one feed at 3.30. I'm hoping this is the start of a sleeping pattern cause im liking it alot. lol

Fussyboots- keep up with the self settling, it works, DP started it on his chrissy holidays cause i was getting to soft and kept picking her up but its working and now she's been really good, esp at nights and first thing in the morn.

I have been weaning him from the breast this week as I started on new meds for my rheumatoid arthritis today. I'm so disappointed but I have no choice really. I have been in constant pain and can't even pick Sammy up during the night or early morning. The last two days my mum has been here to give me a hand while DH is at work. I feel so useless! I'm gradually accepting the situation but I was really hoping to BF for at least six months. I guess 2 months is better than nothing eh? He seems to be okay on the formula.
He's due for his needles this week and I'm a little nervous about it. Anyone know if reactions are common?
Melanie, as far as I understand, extremely uncommon. Katie had hers yesterday, two needles and an oral. Apparently reactions occur within 5-10 minutes, so they get you to stay for 15 minutes afterwards. So far she seems to be perfectly happy.
Katie has slept for 10 hours straight the last two nights. Someone at my parent group reminded me of the 'dream feed'. So a few hours after we put her down to sleep we've been getting her up for a feed without waking her, it's worked a treat.

Long time no chat!! I've had a super unsettled bubba especially at night so just haven't had time to do anything!! The last 3 nights he's gone to sleep fairly well so hopefully he keeps it up now...he was super unsettled through the day today though...starting to drive me crazy a bit but if keeps sleeping well at night I'll be happy. He just won't take a dummy and just likes to be held all the time which is fine but hard when I've got my other 2 boys to look after as well!!
We have decided that this is definitely our last bubba..we're both so super tired I don't think we'd manage another one! LOL! As gorgeous as he is we just want to be able to look forward now and do lots of fun things with them as he grows now!
I don't think I'll possible be able to catch up on all posts so I'll just go back a few and hopefully will be able to keep up from now!

Hey guys, I almost lost the thread i had to look so far back. Hope everyone is going ok as it has been so quiet in here. I have been away to Adelaide for a week and Logan travelled really well. He is still sleeping through the night for a minimum of 10 hours which i am loving. I have my first mothers group meeting tomorrow (should have started last week but i was away). I can't believe how fast time is flying by, our bubbas are nearly 3 months old!!!

Samuel is an absolute angel and I'm loving being a mum.
He had his 8 week immunisations on Monday. His daddy held him while I stayed in the waiting room and I could hear him scream from there! He kicked his leg out while the first needle was in and ended up with a big bruise. Poor little guy. :( He was pretty unsettled during that night (woke 6 times!!!) but is back to normal now and slept his usual 7 hours last night.

Charli has her imms and they went ok. She ended up having a temp that night and it stayed for 32hrs. my poor lil bubba, she was a lil sooky but only screamed when they actually gave her the needle, afterwards i fed her and she was fine.
She is not liking the heat at all, she is upto 5.5kg now so shes growing well. I'm getting her photo's done in 2 weeks, very excited about it. I'm also gonna grab some silk material from spotlight and take some nice photo's myself as DP doesnt like to fork out alot of money when it comes to photos. lol

Havent posted in ages, so thought I'd say hi. David is going well, though he doesnt like the heat either. Hasnt had his imms yet, but I'm taking him to have them next Tuesday, so hope he goes ok. Finally made it back for my six week check up today, and asked about the possibility of having a tubal ligation done as we are definately not having anymore. ( We have 3 boys) its just a matter of deciding which one of us has the procedure.
Had to buy some more clothes for David today cos he's grown out of everything, but he's now in triple 0s so guess he's still little compared to some.
Kylie you're so lucky that Logan sleeps 10 hours! thats amazing.

Glad to see everyone is doing well. Funny how short our posts are now that the bubba's are out!
Kirra - Sounds like we live paralell lives - if only I could spell the word! ha! Just had some photos done of Lily & Piper & they quoted me $4000 for the whole lot. Yeah, Sure! I got a couple and have done some at home too. You can always print them out as blck & white & they look pro. I watched closely when they took pics of Lily's hands & feet. They wrapped some material around her feet so that it draped around them & held her fet underneath to take the shot. So off I went home & did it & it looks great! Saved $75 too! hahaha!
How is everyone coping with the heat? Bloody evaporative cooling can't keep up! Lucky we arn't pregnant now! Although I so miss being pregnant! I know definately that I'm not ready to finish up just yet! But saying that I'll wait until Lily is 2!
Ahhh, my little Lily is up! Have to rush in to see those giggles & smiles! I love it! At least Pip is watching the wizard of oz (it has been on constant rotation for the last 2 weeks!) so I don't have to race her to the cot!
