i was paranoid when Emelia was newborn i checked on her so much and DP still listens over the moniter to hear if she is breathing! he hates when she sick he gets so worried :( ive relaxed alot more now but i still get abit worried when shes sleeping longer than normal i go check on her and i usually end up waking her!! lol
-
yeah.. i've got to admit too, that I still check on my 3 year old many times thru the nite.. but he will sleep thru anything now.. if he passes out on the lounge watching tv, I can change his clothes and everything, and he won't wake up.. just keeps snoring. But Ella, my 7 month old, she's still at that age where anything wakes her! But I still check on her constantly.. I always say to myself.. I'd rather have her wake up early than something more horrible happen.
Yeah.. Taralee.. I heard on the news this morning that the SIDS rate has increased 50% over the last year!!?? That's huge! The news report I heard said that they believed it could be related to parents trying to avoid "flat head syndrome". So I guess parents aren't always putting their bubs on their back, coz they're worried their head will be mis-shapen. Who knows? Whatever it is.. it's just horrible.. makes me feel sick.
And Vicky.. I just know I'm gonna be like you, no matter what my kids ages! I certainly know what I was getting up to when I was a teenager! and it also makes me feel ill when I think that my own kids could do the same!! What a scary thought!!
Oh dear.. I think I better go now...
julie :)

Ahh Vicky I'm assuming you meant Aston is teething? Not Nathan...lol. Anyways, I am the same and am going to be the same as you regarding being extra-vigilant. I seem to be really paranoid lately about someone snatching her. So many people at the shop say how cute she is (dont meant to sound big-headed there) and i get worried that i'll turn around and someone will be off with her...maybe that doesnt sound too crazy. ive even taken to doing food shopping at a little centre so there are less people and i dont feel as bad putting her in the trolley seat and turning 90degrees to get freakin' potatoes!!
Had 6month needles today. What a trooper, she cried for about 2 minutes and then was smiling and putting her hands in her mouth in her cheeky little way. Now sleeping soundly :)
-
I know what you mean Taralee...and you don't sound big headed. When we did the grocery shopping yesterday I had at least half a dozen people stop and "talk" to Aston. I usually take the big kids with me shopping so that I have two pairs of extra hands to stay with Aston completely. I have taken him shopping and worn the pouch, but then I can't get the food out of the trolley at the end! so had to give the one up. Lucky you with the needles, When we went on Tuesday Aston was all smiles and laughs and chatty, then he got the needles, well the indignation of it all. poor little man. and he has two bruises and lumps for the trouble. beasts! he was out of sorts for about 36 hours, but seems better today.
Julie, every day I dread that we are one day closer to teenage hood with my daughter...think I will just send her to a convent for the peace of mind. We are already having heated discussions about highschool - because she wants to go to the local one, and I'm - NO WAY! so the next chapter in motherhood begins. Its interesting place to be in I am - one foot in babyhood, one in pre adolescence, and one right on the tip of teenager! arghhhh....never a dull momnet in this house I tell you.
-
oh I don't envy you Vicky.... I am petrified of having my two reach pre-teen close together. Two girls.... eek!!!
Jovie is going really well with solids atm, but has a bit of a harder time pooing when she has things like potato and sweet potato. She got constipation when she was on more bottles and of the goats milk before we got the prescription formula... I've just started trying water but she won't take a cup yet.
-
Argghhhhhhhhhhh ho sent their babies colds to me?????!!! Im down and out of action and we are moving this weekend!
Chels also has it... poor thing doped up on Panadol to control her nose.
-
KIM you poor things, hard enough having a cold let alone moving! arhhhhh
get little fess and aspirtator to suck those boggers out, works a treat!!!
i too check on sophie a lot, were away at inlaws at the moment with sophie in porta cot, makes me feel uneasy her not being in her own bed, i sleep a lot lighter!!!!
sophie just went 6 days with out pooing and boy did she make up for it today!!! nasty!!
-
im petrified of when Emelia becomes a teenager cos i know how bad i was !!! and things i got upto that my mum never knew about lol
oh no Kim that sucks hope it passes quickly.
we are opposite here to Sophie, Emelia did about 6 dirty nappies today arghh!!!
-
Unbelieveable. Evie was up all night, she had a bit of a temp and didnt grizzle but would just lay there and chat. if i put her in bed with me she'd fall asleep and as soon as i put her in her own bed she'd be wide awake. i think the longest i sleep was half an hour and poor dh has to work a 12 hour day today! So obviously the needles upset her but it really didnt show until last night...wierd!
Kim i hope you're feeling better and can enlist the help of many to help move
-
Tara with Jovie the main needle upset was the pain in her leg. So she didn't make a complaint about it until we touched it, but she wouldn't sleep either
Well Jovie's now sick again... well worse than before. Matilda's been sick for 2 days and last night Jovie was up most of the night. All four of us just had tandem steam showers to try to flush out the nasties from overnight. Hopefully that will help today. We used one of those aspirators on Jovie's nose & got heaps out! YAY!
-
Phew she's been asleep for 2 hours now AND she settled herself to sleep...what a glorious day!
-
Have a great weekend everyone and i hope all the bubs that are sick get better soon, Emelia still isn't herself think it may be the other teeth coming!
im off to see Pink in concert tonight i cannot wait!!! :D
-
Blanche have a good night at pink!! That will be fun!!
Well we have moved and ive supervised most of the day cos im so down and out with this damn cold. Chelsea has been a little grouch monster all day and having 15-30 mins naps.
AJP i cant believe Sophie is already 7 months!!!
-
Kim, maybe your cold was a blessing in disguise...take it as easy as possible, I don't envy the task at hand - it took me a good month to get over moving, and I wasn't pregnant.
Blanche - very jealous!! Enjoy...I just watched it on Austar - it looks amazing, and would be even better live.
AJP - glad I'm not the only one who has had issues with pooing! Aston seems to be better now that I have stop the rice cereal, and started pears.
Thanks Christy for that suggestion, it really worked a treat. I hope you and your family are feeling better soon. Touch wood we haven't had any colds here yet - a vomiting bug yesterday for Nathan, which so far no one else hasnt got Thank God.
Tonight have sent DH out for the night, he hasnt been out since just after Aston was born, and even then he arrived home early in the morning because he was missing us. lol. wonder what time he will arrive tomorrow morning?
Tara - that's how Aston was, I'm shattered after the week we have had - first sore tummy, then needles...last night was a shocker too. fingers crossed tonight will be better...I swear his sleeping is getting worse NOT better!
-
VICKY, yep stopped the cereal and she's pooing away!!! it's soooooo yuk!!!! stinks, bring back newborn poo anyday!!
KIM you cant believe it! neither can we!!!!! time flies when your having fun!
TARA glad you had a great sleeping day with Evie
BLANCH hp[e you enjoyed the concert!!
-
Blanche - Lucky girl. My GF is going to the Pink Concert too. She got tickets for her mother's day pressie.
Christy - another cold? poor jovie? Hope this one goes quickly.
Tara - The days when the bubs are *text book* sleepers are great :) Funny how quickly you get your optimism and energy back. Yay Evie!
AJP - Ella has a massive poo yesterday when we were out. (it always happens when you're in the car or out doesnt it!) Anyway it was DH's shift so he got the privilege to clean it up... ;)
We'll we're still getting over our colds here. So its an easy weekend for us.

I tried Aston on Avocado today - and was a hit. at least he didn't pull the "are you trying to posion me?" faces that he has with pear...lol. hopefully it wont upset his tummy. still having sleep issues at night - i guess this week is a new one, and maybe things will improve. god I hope so, I feel like the walking dead.
-
oh Vicky I really feel for you.
Jovie has been going well after our first few weeks on solids. It seemed like she was always hungry and everything we put in her mouth upset her. I think it was just her tummy getting used to digesting food and metabolising it... because now she's going really well. On 2 meals a day and doing great.
-
I had probably the lowest night as a mum last night. i have never felt so down and helpless in my life. evie would sleep for 10mins then wake up screaming all night. all day yesterday she grizzled and nothing i could do would help. shes still a bit off and everyone says its because of her needles so i hope she'll start feeling better soon.
day sleeps are just a right off at the moment. if she doesnt want to sleep then im not going to bother trying to make her, we both just end up miserable.
i realise shes been sick on and off for the past 6 weeks and obviously those needles were the icing on the cake but i am looking forward to blue skies soon...i hope
-
Hang in there Tara - I know exactly how your are feeling hun, I have the worst week with Aston and sleeping at night...I feel like he has forgotten how to! fingers crossed it will start to improve. for all of us!
-
Thats reassuring to know Vicky -especially since aston and evie are only a day apart. evie didnt have an afternoon nap and then we went out this evening so she fell asleep in the car. when we got home we skipped a bath and put her in her jammies i gave her a feed, put her in bed and i havent heard a peep and that was an hour ago, so hopefully things are on the up and up

Time for a new thread everyone
