Quick question:
When you make homemade vegies.. do u add anything wth it?
Like i know when we have mashed potato or pumpkin i add milk and marg....
Chelsea is at FDC today... had a rough night.. woke screaming at 2am.... so slept the night in our bed. Tried Tropical organic fruits yesterday and she loved it...!
Only 6 days til we fly to QLD!!
ETA: That list would be great Christy. Chelsea eats Farex chunky and loves it like that....GP said if she is eating that chunky i shouldnt have to many problems going onto chucnky foods... heres to hoping... atm.. we have jarred runny foods cos im not game enuf to make my own vegies yet...lol

Kim I don't, I use water & then puree. When I'm making mashed potato or pumpkin soup for us & just put aside enough for her before adding anything. I think the rule is to start with small amounts of seasoning, marg & milk etc at around 9 months.... or is it 12??

-
I think its 12mths Christy. You can add formula Kim to the mash, or just water.
BTW Kim, how has the move gone? Have you settled into the house yet? and where in QLD are you going to? my neck of the woods, or the gold coast? You are such a busy person! mum to a 6mth old, pregnant, moved house, working! your a bloody legend girl!

ps...i don't know if you can see it in the photo, but DH had Aston tattooed on his arm, his name, and DOB and a lion, which is part of the Aston Villa badge....

LOL there's so much to remember about this solids business!!! I remember some things but not others. I just did a big reading frenzy on it the other day but I tend to look at just whats happening next rather than further down the track LOL... plus we look at the particular foods etc.... bleck
We have foods for Jovie that are low for intolerant babies, meaning that its rare to have reactions to them:
Pear
Red Delicious Apples (strange but they list the type of veges or fruit sometimes)
Mango
Butternut Pumpkin
Sweet Potato
Potato (but its known to cause constipation for some)
Green Beans
Swede
Low-Moderate Foods (next stage... one we are still in)
Paw Paw
Papaya
Custard Apple
Carrot
Beetroot
Parsnip
Peas
Moderate-High
Apples (other sorts)
Apricot
Guava
Rockmelon
Pumpkin (other sorts)
Corn
Zucchini
High
Avocado :(
Cauliflower
Eggplant
Broccoli
Spinach
Tomato
Kiwi
Strawberry
Watermelon
Grape
Tangelo
Sultanas
ETA: Vicky , bit hard to see the tat but would love too!! DH is trying to design one for the girls...

Kim we will be at Dreamworld on the 16th :) Matilda's birthday. We decided no party this year but a fun family adventure ;)
We sort of decided that we would have a few parties but not every year, so this year we gave Matilda the choice of Wiggles world or Australia Zoo and she chose Wiggles world. We sort of thought that she would remember both parties & fun days but it would be good to mix the two since we don't have heaps of $$ we'd make special days very special.

where in qld r u christy?
-
We are in Wynnum, bayside of Brissy :)
One of my best friends lives in Mermaid so I head down there often... next time I'll let you know :) we can meet up!
-
sounds good! I was in Wynnum last weekend actually! and my aunty-in-law lives there.
I live just down the highway from dreamworld, sort of behind wet'n'wild

Well aston is still having tummy issues with food...can't seem to win, not sure whether to stop completely, or cut back on amount, or pull all my hair out! sigh.
Christy, we do that, alternate between party and family adventure...last year Nathan went to Movieworld with DH and a friend and his dad, Laura had a girl's day out shopping, movies, lunch... She has already decided that for her 13 family adventure she wants to go to seaworld to swim with the dolphins...
BTW thanks for the info on food...I wish Aston could talk and TELL me what is going on. Its difficult to go back to guess work once you have had the luxury of having kids being able to tell you what is wrong. and believe me, before now I had never considered that a luxury, but I do now! lol I guess I will just have to keep on at it, and eventually it will improve. I worry that he will start to lose weight... awww I dont know! sometimes its all too hard!! (Can you feel my frustration...lol?)
Kim have a good time away.
How's Evie going Tara?
Hi everyone else, hope you are having a good long weekend - or is it only a long weekend in QLD?
-
Tried mashed banana today and she LOVED it!! thank goodness, i was so worried she was going to be put off food altogether! what a weight off my mind!!!
Christy I couldnt see banana on ur list there...am i blind? or may u pls tell me where it fits in. :)
Thanks for asking Vicky. I'm sorry youre having food trouble with aston...and i havent got any advice. u can always put food straight on his highchair tray and let him play with it - maybe then he will decide what appeals to him and what doesnt :dunno:
-
Hey christy - thanks for the article reference...I agree totally with what it says, I hate seeing Aston cry. I have pulled over on the side of the road and fed him, rather then let him get upset, so if I have made a rod for my back, then its my back say I! I laugh out loud at people who use that saying. My ex MIL (Who was a massive problem with my two older kids!) used to say it allllll the time.
-
LOL funny you should say that Vicky - I was talking to my SIL the other day and she said the exact same thing re: rod for her back.
I do have to have a little vent though.
I have been reading and reading and really educating myself on sleep training and such, and after reading 'The Con of Controlled Crying' there is no way in good conscience that i could let evie cry at sleeptimes. I am soooooooooo sick of being made to feel weak and stupid for not going along with this irresponsible and reckless craze.
There :wall:

Yes, tara, until you have actually experienced it yourself- motherhood that is- you can't really know exactly how you feel. I know that no-one could have told me, and I had tried to explain it to DH (Aston is his first baby), and it wasn't til he was born that DH finally got it!
I guess though, different strokes for different folks, it makes for a far more interesting world. When I had Nathan, I had PND, and there was many a time that I had to go out into the back garden because he was crying... just because of where my own head space was at the time...
I guess what I'm saying is that every one has to do what works for them... have a great day all..
