It is some consolation that everyone is going through the same thing which just makes me think thats its more normal than we're lead to believe.
LOL Blanche, i take evies highchair outside so i can hang the washing out! sometimes i just do it once she's gone to bed.
-
that's a good idea tara the highchair... I still think my puppy will be able to eat him though...
-
Sorry your all having a tough time with sleeping issues...i feel so bad... Chelsea is an angel for sleeping at night...
Day time is getting better...i can hear her in bed now yelling out do dada... thank god he has gone to work tho...grrr
Only solids she will eat is pumpkin, potato and both together. Of course her fruit gels too. I feel like a slack mother cos i dont give her varierty... but to be honest... im over the solids thing already... i hate it.

Hi girls!
I'd have to agree that this must be what babies do a this age - ie night wakings - maybe bcos they are starting to learn to manipulate us or just bcos they miss us.... I prefer the latter. Personally since we broke the night wakings habit a week and a bit ago (my week on sleeping tablets *bliss* and DH did the nights) Jake has been heaps better. Still wakes early morning once maybe but resettles now usually by himself or just with a tuck in a pat and a "good boy". Well done Ann - it's tough tho...
Hang in there Tara they grow out of it eventually.
AJP we bought an Outlander last year! On the runout tho not the new new model. Great car tho and easy / good to drive. I used to have an MR Lancer (before babies - 2 doors) and it was my go-kart, and I actually think the OL handles almost as well.
Jake is up to mashed food now too, and eating all kinds of veges, meats fruits etc. His fave fruit atm is chunks of pear which he has for his morning tea - chomps away at it! Having said that my boy who would eat anything, and is having 3-5 meals a day incl morn and arvo tea, has decided he no longer wants his hot lunch, no - he wants fruit and sandwiches and his usual yoghurt. So have gone from 4tblspn hot lunch and yog, to 1/2 pear, 1/2 banana, a sandwich (1-2 slices) and his yoghurt. Stressing now if he is getting enough nutrients....
Do we ever not stress - it's what mothers are programmed to do!
Have good day!
-
Kimbaz - Jake was like that and started sneaking new foods in with those basics a tiny bit at a time. Now eats everything new from spinach to lentils - as long as there is a bit of pumpkin, potato or apple in it as a base.
-
Any more ideas on solids? i tried apple today and she just wont swallow anything! i gave her a piece of apple last week and she was happy to gum it so i thought i'd puree some today but she wouldnt take it.
i cant force her to eat but i know she cant stay on purely bm for much longer!
ive tried making food really runny and a bit thicker and no dice!
-
tara i simply changed spoons and sophie now eats!! go figure!! try her on finger food i'm going to bake some potato for her to munch on. i usually wipe with the spoon a little of what i want her to eat on her lips so she can taste it, she then usually opens up. the mince went down well, i tasted it and it wasnt too bad, i mashed it with avocado. how about grated cheese??? sophie loves that i mix it with anything now!!!
she had weetbix this morniong and now wont sleep so i wonder if it gave her a tummy ache???
i firmly believe that motherhood to totally glossed over by everyone, inckuding our selves!!! people only see the good things surronding being a parent, not the crying, sleepless night, PND etc, of course we wouldnt change things for the world but we dont seen to like paople knowing how hard things can be sometimes, we want everyone to think we can cope with anything! and that all babies sleep all night, nap when we want etc...they dont.....tara i like your attitute, go with the flow love, you;ll probably find things a little easier now to go with her rather than fight with her!! child raising should be changes to infant led raising, they dictate the rules!!!!
-
i've heard that weet-bix shouldnt be given until at least 10mths as they cant digest it properly, thats what our nurse told us
thanks for the tips
Did sophie used to just leave food in her mouth and not swallow?
-
funny you saying about glossing over, i'm looking at my 6mth nephew for a bit of extra cash but need to go back to work so told SIL last night, she said well we didnt think you'd be able to handle it and when i mentioned her getting a nanny she said 'well i hope she charges less than you do'...they pay me $50 for a 10hr day and their child is high-needs
-
I used to pay Chelsea's old carer $40 a day and she isnt a problem for others...now i can get day care and my fees have dropped...were $20.45 a week.. now $14.55!!! Watta bargain.. helps having 1 income thats not high... but will all change very soon!
-
tara i wa told conflicting things about weetbix, one nurse said 8 months the other 10, so who knows. sophie wouldnt even open her mouth for food!!!! i'd try her iwht finger food.
KIM so can you tell us whats happening yet, i'm assuming your moving?? boy $50 a day is a bargin!! for them not you!!
-
sure is a bargain! and i got quals up the wazoo!!
lol i just wanted to say wazoo!
-
Man Tara I would drive down the coast for $50 a day... ;)
Maybe we should have a QLD meet up (sorry non QLD girls!!!) get all our bubbas together in the one place.
-
christy that sounds wonderful!!

Ok seeing though some of you know whats going on and have helped alot ill tell the rest of you too.
2 weeks ago..maybe bit more now..some people from Craigs work went to Canberra to discuss plans on a buy out or merger with a highly sort out company. At the time i was unaware of the reasoning behind it....but as per usual was the last to find out when one Friday evening i was told ' (company name removed-craigs work) is going done in financial worries so X , Y and Z went to Canberra to talk with (company name) about what could be done, and 2 options came up. Sell (company) fully, leaving us all with no jobs but $300k each to start a new company or what ever we choose to do OR a partial merger, making us all move to Canberra, $80-$100k a year salary, plus a $100k each payout figure for merging.'.
Therefore... it was a do we go or do we stay. We choose the go option. However i have grown very found of Melbourne and all my great friends i have made and cant leave them. As you all know (and if not u will now) i moved form NSW in Oct last year here for Craigs work...i left family and friends behind...had to start fresh here. Was a huge move but a worthwhile one..til now.
I dont have a moving date as yet but i refuse to leave til M2 is born which is 21 Oct give or take. Craig and i discussed many options with the Vic to ACT move. The one we come up with and settled on now is, that he will lve in Canberra through the week, fly home Friday night and fly back Sunday night for work. Giving him Sat and Sun home with Chelsea and me. It sgoing to be hard..on all of us. Chels will miss daddy.. ill miss Craig...but i dont want to move so it has to be. Some might say why not pass up the job... but it would set us up for life... we dont see that kinda money flash before us that often..
No one likes the idea of me being here alone.. not even i do... but its the route im taking. Craig has said we will give it a go for 3 months, and if all is well in ACT ill move BUT only if im happy too... if not he will quit, move back here and find new work. I highly doubt ill be ready to move but i keep looking at the money side of things.
Anyhow he is off to Canberra tomorrow to sign the deal of the merger.
Thats about all thats going on....and i also have the fear he will miss bubs birth... and i have no one else to go with me if thats the case.
-
it's a great oppotunity for you guys kim!! canberras not that bad, we have reletives that live in yarralumla!!, so next time were up we can come visit you!!!!
have you thought about hiring a doula?????? that way you'll have someone you know with you, they dont cost too much but may very well be money worth spending.
-
Christy that sounds GREAT! lets do it!
Good idea on the doula AJP
-
Well my friend is a trainee doula and she wanted to come to the birth, said it was fine.. but she is such a fairy and changes her mind that often and now says 'i dunno if ill be able to come cos its a bit close to home for me now'. She is 14 weeks preg...about 11 weeks behind me...
So i dunno.... im over this crap.
