The only baby proofing I have done so far is put the play pen I got around the entertainment unit. When we got it home (the playpen) I put Aston in it, and looked at DH and said I can't do it. lol. It looks like baby jail. He rolled his eyes and said well that was a waste of money wasn't it... No, I say, let put it around the entertainment unit... lol Oh well.
sitting here looking at all the things that I will have to move once Aston is really crawling... Even though he did take some forward movements yesterday, it is still really only backwards, and I thikn that because he is concentrating so hard on moving forward that he forgets about all the things around him that he was trying to get too lol.
Kim - that's great what chelsea ate - and it is real food!! Aston had toast with melted cheese yesterday for lunch, ate probably half of it, then gave the rest to the dog.
Nathan is home today sick. When he got home from school yesterday he hada temp of 39 again, and this morning he was still feeling off. Mind you after giving him nurofen he is jumping! and driving me a little mad!!
hope you all have good days... waiting for aston to go to sleep so I can have a shower!
-
Kim Loved the photos.Chelsea looked like she was the belle of the ball, and enjoyed every moment of it!
-
WOW i cant believe how much i am getting done today! i am on fire!! Here's proof - our wash basket is totally empty. there's not even a shirt that needs to be washed on its own sitting in the bottom. i know i know, i am great! roflmao. The sun is soo lovely today - another day in paradise!
evie ate a bit of yogurt this morning and gummed some pear but i dont think it was ripe enough to go really mushy in her mouth, but she gave it a burl.
Vicky, i saw a playpen in Big W that has activities around it and music and such - i'm looking at getting one when we move it looks a bit less like a jail!(just dont give him a cup to tap along the rails...or a harmonica...)
Nelly - evies also opening draws and cupboards and the other day pulled the door open and put her fingers around it so i'm worried about her fingers being shut in the doors. I bought an activity centre that evie sits in when i need to get things done but she doesnt want to be left alone - quite a good investment, and is handy to take outside to hang out washing etc. i think she loves in because shes not strapped into anything, she just stands in it and bops away.
My SIL suggested i try a 'snuggly' cushion so evie doesnt roll over in the night - anyone else tried one? i dont know if she'd just be able to roll over it
wow i'm chatty! no more coffee for me!
-
wow you are on the go today tara!!!! caffine high hey!!!
i think i have been visited by...........................AF!!!!! the first one since sophie was born!!!
DH is pretty happy about it, i'm not!!!
-
A GF just rang and chatted for 40mins all the while evie's asleep and my precious alone time slipped away! she's been asleep for an hour and half already - so it's almost over :)
I've only had 2 AF's AJP and i dont remember when they were so i dont know when the next one's due but DTD the other day so am kinda hoping there's no repercussions (LOL i dont mean that in a bad way...) but am not really ready for another bub yet although DH is starting to talk about it.
-
I think i may have had a mini-breakthrough on the solids front. i put some avocado on bread and broke it into teeny tiny pieces and she snacked away. she choked twice and then realised she could swallow it. so fingers crossed - we're on our way!
-
that's brilliant tara!
I wouldn't bother about the snuggle pillow thing - she is probably too big for it now. Aston rolls all around the cot now, and I constantly find him on his hands and knees, facing the other way to what I put him in!
LOL Jols about DH being happy AF has arrived! men are so strange aren't they!
-
Great work Tara.... i have to go out now.. but when i return ill post a little on my day with Chelsea's health nurse.. told ya i wasnt leaving til i knew wat i was doing... a 15 minute session turned into a little over 40 mins!!
LOL at AF returning Jols....i tell ya it been nice not having to deal with her for a while again...*slow down October*....
Got M2's layby paid off today so will all be here on Friday so can set up the room, have some nice new curtains and drapes....and will really nice once its done....
Will it be Blue? or maybe Pink? I do know it took me forever to decided wat curtains i wanted!! hehehe :P
-
update - also just ate 2 minute noodles - naughty i know but she took them out of my bowl!!
-
woohoo tara, i'd just let her go, eating what she wants within reason could be the start of it all for her!!!
KIM remember to post pics of the curtains :P
god 15min appt, ours are always 30 mins but mine have always been closer to an hour!!!
-
Now I'm trying to find things that she can eat that she can just put into her mouth - like little bits of bread and noodles. I'm just not really sure about what to do for her as she has no teeth. Some ideas? Recipes?

Hey everyone..wow wat a night we had, 9.30pm DP wasnt feeling to well, short of breath, nauseous and he said it felt like his heart was pounding really really fast. (this happened a few days ago too) so got Emelia out of bed and of to the hospital we went (very busy) but luckily we got in reasonably quick as last time the doc said if it happened again he should came back straight away.
he had an ecg done, that was fine..had xrays, his heart looked fine. his blood pressure was very very high though and heart rate was a little bit fast. they took blood tests and gave him a needle to make the nauseous go away, also gave him valium to calm him down!! and high blood pressure tablets and monitered him to see if they helped..which thankfully they did and we got to go home, Leigh was pretty sleepy by the time we got home (2am) and was asleep within 2 mins! he is still asleep now and is off to his gp at 4.30. so hopefully we will find out a little more then.. Leigh has already diagnosed himself already, recons that they are panic attacks...only cos his dad said thats what they are, but the doctor said no last night..guess we will see this arvo!
Emelia was excellent considering she was so tired, but when we were waiting around she learnt to wave "bye bye" so cute she does both hands sometimes!! she went to sleep in the car on the way home and slept through till 9am then back to sleep at 10.30 for an hour. im so tired but im "nurse" for the day!! *yawn*

Plenty... Matilda was 9mths with no teeth when she decided that she wouldn't be fed.
Our efforts included:
* par cooked veges in sticks, so carrots so steamed you could mash them, but left as a stick for her to pick up.
* peas, cooked and like the other veges able to be picked up
* pasta
* I made things like pikelets with grated veges in them. There are recipes up for baby & toddler food!
* banana, mango, any mushy fruit
**a big thing was once a day I insisted on feeding her, so I would give her a bowl & spoon of her own with a tiny amount of food & while she was trying to work it out, I would feed her, this also worked with giving her things like cruskits etc to gnaw on**
-
OK i have returned.
Chelsea is now 8.3kg!!
Things i need to do are:
What ever we eat for dinner...blend
Needs to have different textures but NOT lumps yet...
Foods dont need to be fork mashed until 9-10 months
If giving pasta, it should be sliced thinly
NO bread until around 10 months....give toast instead (so sandwiches are out for another month or so)
Give soft fruits... from 8 months old give strawberries, kiwi fruit
Add grated cheese to foods
Mix pasta into vegies so get used to the different textures
Give as much meat as possible...does not matter what kind
Avocado
Rusks are a great help
Fingers foods not til mid 9 months
Persevere with sippy cups with cool boiled water at least once a day and also offer open lid cups
Give bottle then 30-60 mins later offer breakfast/lunch
Start with smooth foods... and gradually biuld up to lumpy textures
Introduce a new food each 3 days
She said as soon as Chels wakes of a morning, get her up, bottle, play then give breaky....90 mins after getting up back to bed....she isnt getting enuf sleep and is getting overtired and thats why she has thrown herself outta routine with day times. Babies cant switch off like us.
She wont knwo any different with a new baby coming along.... until around 18 months when she will understand and by then will be to amused to care about a new person taking mummy and daddies time too.
Had a different lady and she never made me feel stupid or useless....was so nice!!
Jols....i will FORGET to post pics of the curtains dun worry!!
-
Blanch sorry to hear about DP, hope everything works out ok!!!
tara sophie is gummy still as well!!! i think it's really trail and error with what she;ll eat.
Kim glad your nurse was helpfull, mines like that
-
Blanche - Sounds scary. Hopefully things are better with him.
Kim - sounds like good advice. We blend our sunday roasts when we're at our Inlaws. Its nice to know ella's having a sunday roast too. ;)
Nelly - LOL Jake sounds so cute. Ella is rocking from side to side. (and then does a FART!) otherwise we're still sitting still.
Tara - Sultanas! Ella loves em. She has been practicing picking them up and eating them this week. Practicing her pincer grip. She use to pick them up and put them in her mouth without letting them go..then wonder why its not in her mouth and still in her hand. Now she lets the sultana go.
Last night we slept through! Woo hoo. I'm sure it was a fluke but we loved it. DH and I woke and looked at each other and said "DId you get up last night?" haha.
We had a huge dinner followed by a big breast feed. I dont know where she puts it all - she's only a teenee tiny 7.7kg.
Ann

Hello!! I hope everyone had a good night. Jovie was up at 1am and 4am and then up for the day at 6.30... so we got a sleep in but had to pay with an extra wake up or two. But DH did the 1am wake up & I did the 4am one so it wasn't too bad. DH just settled her and I climbed into the spare bed with her & breastfed her to sleep again and dozed with her.
Her top two teeth are starting to come through!!! WOW its all happening so fast compared with Matilda....
-
We had a great night.....shame i cant say today is going as well.....Chels drank 70ml of her bottle, refused farex with apple, refused the remaining apples...and now going to try toast :(
-
Nevermind Kim, everyday's different!!
We were in bed at 7, up at 1130, 330 and then 530 for the day. she went back for a nap at 7 but only slept for 30mins and is so tired now but wont go back to sleep.
BUT she actually started licking her lips when i put her in her highchair AND opened her mouth for yogurt and ate some chunks of pear.
I kept some dinner last night to puree for her dinner tonight, but i dont really get it. do you mix a bit of water with it or something?
also, Kim re: No bread, my nurse-lady said bread is ok and to try dipping it in cooked egg yolk. but if theres a history of wheat allergy then delay bread.
-
We had spag bol for tea last night.. i added water to it....Chels hated it and refused to eat it.
In regs to the bread....i thought it would have been ok as well....but apparently is not cos it has to much moisture and to easy to choke on yet. Where as toast is dry and can get soaky much easier. Do what you think is best i spose... im holding off on bread now...toast is just as good
-
sophie was up at 12.45am for a feed then 7.30 so not bad, made apricot porriage for brekky this morning and she ate it!! susccess at last as she doesnt like brekky!!
i dont the bread thing i do both!!! kim have you tried small bits of bread in apple puree??? may help it go soggy
-
Chels will eat bread on its own... i dont have a problem there...but was told no bread til 10 months so im going by what i have been told.
-
We had a tough night. Ella went down at 7, woke up at 11 for a feed and then i heard her coughing at 5am. It sounded strange so i crept in and had a look. She had vomited all over herself and was trying to sleep. (poor thing) There were sultanas and veges everywhere. We cleaned it up and gave her a feed coz i thought she might be hungry. She went back to sleep in 5mins.
10mins later i heard her choking again - she vomited up all the milk. i was worried she caught my gastro..but she seemed fine when she woke up at 8am.
No diarrhea. No vomiting today so i think it was the sultanas. She must just suck on them and swallow them. they were hardly digested. Once she threw them up she went back to sleep.
We had a good day. Inspected our new home and getting ready to move in next week.So much to do....
Ann
-
Ann Glad Ella is ok. Best of luck with the move. take all offers of help!!
Kim great that you got some good advice from the CHN and that it has made you feel better. Aston eats toast, loves it, that and english muffins toasted.
tara woohoo for evie...she's getting the hang of this eating gig.
Jols any teeth appearing yet for Miss Sophie?
Christy I think Aston's top two are moving on down too. Which will make breast feeding interesting...
Blanche - any more news on DH. How scary. Aston is waving good bye, and hello, and then has to clap to everyone as well after he has done it. its so funny.
Nelly - how's Jake doing? Better I hope.
I had a great day today, went shopping and got things for ME. which is a first, because I usually get stuff for everyone else. DH has the day off tomorrow so he is coming to watch aston swim, and then we are off to have lunch together.
Hope everyone has a good night.
-
Well moving house tomorrow, and still havent packed...go figure. and am going to bed now with headache, evies been asleep for an hour and no peeps so far.
blended some beef, avocado, broccoli, snow pea, mushroom and rice noodles for evie's dinner and she actually smiled when i put her in her chair and sat down with the food and then opened her mouth ready. so hip hooray!
actually got a bit teary tonight putting her to bed in her room for the last time. thought about eating solids, weaning and how she's getting so big too fast! oh! my headache!
goodnight :)
Vicky - sounds like a good day for you tomorrow, enjoy it!
-
Goodluck tomorrow Tara!
Vicky - hehe wat a cutie!
Ann - poor Ella, but good that it doesnt look like she caught gastro.
DP seems alright today..he went to his GP yesterday and he gave him some blood pressure tablets, and told him he is very stressed and may even be depressed, but wouldnt put him on anti depressents (which i think he needs) yet, told him to wait a few weeks and if these "attacks" get worse to go back and see him. ive noticed a change in him the last few weeks and thats wat caused us fighting alot lately as we hardly ever did before. as usual its the money thats stressing him (us) but we will get through this, we always do!
i applied for a job today!! at a childcare centre around the corner from me, they are looking for someone to do relief work and i can take Emelia wth me. im pretty excited and hope i get an interview. i would love to get it just to get out the house!!! plus extra money too :D
Emelia is going great with the crawling, she is standing everywhere, caught her standing at the front door looking out today!
-
Good luck Blanchie, i hope they pick you for the job! Glad your DP sounds better today, i hope his GP keeps monitoring him. I hear you on the arguing about money thing! My DH has just gone back to work after two months off with bad back, it's scary when your support person gets sick, so i sympathise. Wow, your bub is the same age as mine, and Emelia is crawling and standing, wow, how wonderful.
Luua, best of luck with moving house, it's such a HUGE thing to do, let alone with kids!
TaraLee, ditto for you, i dread moving house with a bub, it's amazing how many of us move house when pregnant and with small kids, when it's the hardest, but you still gotta do it.
Vicky - glad you got to do something nice for yourself.
i've got baby brain, who was it who's bubba threw up, all down to the sultanas? Well, hope your bubba is back to her usual self soon.
It's interesting to read what all your babies are eating, at eight months, we're still on small amounts of pureed food, so are a bit behind - oh well, i suppose she'll catch up eventually. Looks so healthy, i'm not entirely worried, she's too chubby cheeked to have anyone thinking i'm starving her!!!
-
I'm going to start a new thread now, so give me a minute & don't post ;)
Okay, https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...764#post875764 here it is
