Well i am back again, just letting you know i am still about :)
Computer drove me crazy for awhile and with holidays been keeping busy, down to one kid on Monday, wont know myself on Mondays and Fridays from next week, going to be sooo quiet!
Will be back to read up later on :) hope everyone is going ok
-
Just trying to get Ella back into her routine. She's now almost 12wks and is awake for a bit longer without tears and crying.
Night sleeps have gone back to normal, wake once a night at 3-4am. Day sleeps are difficult but she's doing well so i'm not going to stress about it too much.
Christy - glad to hear Jovie's turn a corner with the reflux. Sounds like you've got great instincts about her needs.
Kim - Ella also chats a lot. She prefers chatting to playing with toys. Today she discovered she could shout. Joy. ;)
I can't believe we're almost up to that next big 3 month milestone already. Its gone so quickly. I had coffee with my old boss yesterday and he was fishing to see if i would go back to work earlier than 12 months. I told him there is no chance i'm going to miss discovering Ella's new little talents... I feel really lucky to be able to witness them all, as i know Andrew feels left out sometimes but he always gets to see them the second time round. :)
-
things are good here, i'm feeling heaps better now i'm on meds, except they make me drowsy so have to adjust the time i take it!!
had sophie weighed today she's 5.490 kg, 58.8cm and head is 39, has a slight flat spot on the side of her head which we are seeing a kiddie chiro for neck next week. i have a great MCHN who makes me feel good that i'm doing my best for sophie, shes lovely!!
Well she's a big girl now, sleeping in her cot unwrapped but has commenced sucking her thumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as a dental nurse that's not good!!!!!!!!!!! DH and i found it very hard to put her from the bassinette to the cot it's like a new chapter in her small life and she look so small, but sleeping well still, i swear my next child will never sleep just to even them up!!! this girl looooves her sleep just like her daddy.
next thing on our agenda will be trying to work out some sort of day routine working out more set times for sleeps
hope everyone is well and things are getting back to normal after christmas, it's hard to believe it was a month ago.
-
It is hard to belive Christmas was a month ago!
AJP glad to hear the meds are going well, except for the drowsiness. I found it hard to get the "right" dose but eventually I was on 3/4 of my tablet which was perfect LOL.
Well... Jovie is going well. A bit over the rough days and ready for some good ones ;) I guess I am less stressed over sleep now because there is so much else to be worried about.
I have read heaps and been to sleep school with Matilda, and I know that a sleep cycle is around 40 minutes and they should get over that 40 and go on to sleep more. I also know that she should feed every 3 hours. Having said that, today she slept 3 times for 40 minutes each, she fed every 2-3 hours... but she's been more painful and having more issues with stomach cramps again so I don't worry so much about lack of sleep or feeding irregularly but I worry about pain.
-
Hello everyone,
I did a big long post yesterday but wouldn't go through...doh!!
Glad to see most of the bubbas doing well
Christty - glad that Jovie is improving somewhat. The 40min sleep thing is a real pain eh? We are still having issues with this but can't seem to get over it unless he is in the sling or co-sleeping at night
Is Jovie still taking any meds at all?
Vicky - Thanks for your kind words. Motherhood really IS hard. I think my DH is only just beginning to realise why I can't get much else done during the day. Hope Aston is alll recovered from his immunisations. Horrible isn't it? Logan had his on Wednesday and I was nearly in tears. I give injections to puppies and kittens all the time but my own baby - heartbreaking!
AJP - glad you are feeling better on the meds. Must make everything easier to deal with, I am sure. Sophie sounds like she is thriving so you are certainly doing a great job as a mummy!
Kim - 7hrs sleep overnight - WTG Chelsea!! Hope it continues to get get better
Am witholding judgement still on whether the meds are making mych difference. Bit hard to tell given the vaccinations upset everything past 2 days.
He sleeps quite well in the HAB (up to 3hrs in the morning) but stil doing the 40min deal in the hammock most days. Went to Pinky's massage course on Wed and learnt some good colic strokes so helping these may help a little. I hate seeing him upset and wish he could be a more content baby but I guess things will improve with time.
I also hate being so caught up with the sleep -almost becomes the focus of my whole day.
Doesn't help when I have a friend with baby one week younger and she is sleeping 10hrs every night plus good day naps. Doesn't require any settling either - she just puts her in the cot and walks away!!! Her house is immaculate - she tells me how she has been scrubbing the oven and getting on her hands and knees to do the floors!
I am lucky if I get to shower and eat,let alone do much housework!
Anyone else using a dummy? I am still feeling a bit funny about using one as I really didn't want to but it does seem to calm/comfort him without needing the BB and certainly seems to shorten the time to get him to sleep. Just worried about the dependence on it and I also don't want to find myself "plugging the hole" and missing cues from him. Anyone else have thoughts?
-
Meredith, i too was reluctant to use a dummy. sophie has always self settled pretty well since birth with only a little help, but found it useful on the occasions that she was a little 'over it' and needed a little help. she doesnt have it anyother time than this but having said that she has started to suck her thumb!!! and uses this now so self settle.
i think you need to feel ok abouit using it when you feel necessary, dont feel bad if it's needed use it, i found if sophie needed it to go to sleep she nearly always spat it out in her sleep if she was awake though i never replugged, she got one chance!
just remember to do what right for you both!! good luck and your doing a great job........were all great mummy's!!!!!!!!
-
I was set on Chelsea not having a dummy. I seen what they did to my sisters kids, they never wanted to give them up, then she just through them away one day and they got used to it. BUT, Chelsea was 4 days old she was screaming and was in pain... could not settle her and i said to DH GO BUY ME DUMMIES NOW. Ive never looked back!. DD likes them sometimes when she is really tired...but i find spits it out not long after.....even during the day when she is crying i offer it to her and she never takes it! I guess it depends on her mood.
Her sleep is still up and down....the 7 hours was bliss..never happened again with out it being broken on and off. Lastnight she had a 8.30pm feed and then a bath at 930pm. Got to bed at 1030pm. Went without a feed til 5.30am.....lol she was starving...but her fault for not waking!!
Itd hard when most of the bub's in this buddy group are nealry 3 months old....but its nice to hear what i have to look forward too. Chelsea, Logan and Aston are the babies of the group....both 2 months old and born on same day (Logan 1 day before Chels and Aston) :D
Meredith-Dont worry about the house work.....u just do what u can...i make the most of DD cat naps and do it over the day....lol...by the time DH gets home im just finishing up...then i have to do dinner.
Christy-Good to her Jovie is making a progress...your going well!!
AJP-Sophie sounds like she is getting a big girl now!
Luua-Chels talks to her clown that hangs off her play gym....loves it so much now...or if u go to kiss her she startd her jibberish again and smiles. Its liek she is saying 'No Mum, i dont want more kisses'.
Vicky-LOL ill be in tears im sure when DD has to get her needles. DH has to to work so ill be a toughie and going alone :frown: My nurse told me DO NOT get DD needles before 29th January....no ealier....so ive been holding off. Aston had his a bit early....im sure it cant make much of a difference. But she enforced no earlier a few times..LOL
Quick question to everyone......
Did your bubs ever get a flat spot on the head??
Chels has one on one saide cos she favours her left side. No matter how mant times i turn her head she moves it back. I give her tummy time...she screams but i still make her have it!
-
Hi all... having a really bad day here. So I'm hiding in the computer room crying atm. Urgh...Meredith I so understand. Jovie is in heaps of pain today & I am over it. I have no more coping abilities today...Jovie's not on any meds atm I decided to try natural therapies for a little while as Matilda went the medical route & was heaps worse than Jovie is. But today is making me debate that for sure ;) Meds for Matilda didn't seem to do too much, and if they did after 2 weeks they weren't as good.
Needles - not doing them until Jovie has recovered a bit. No need to hurt her even more at this stage because we aren't doing much at all until she's able to go through a day without too much pain.
Meredith - how are you going with the HAB? Jovie has 1 good nap a day in it. I don't think I'd survive without it but she's getting so heavy!
Dummy - I was always against dummies but I read about reflux babies and the use of dummies to help their bodies keep the stomach acids lower in the oesophagus & I was sold. Matilda had one as long as she had reflux symptoms and its the only thing that will help Jovie keep her food in and in the stomach area. I've heard they help with colic as well to push out the wind?
Kim I have heard about babies who prefer one side & who chiropractic work helped heaps. Jovie wouldn't feed of my left side very well at all & after 1 session of chiropractic work she was fine again. Apparently lying on the right side can cause tummy pain as well so sometimes the football hold is better for feeding if you are breastfeeding otherwise just try to encourage her to look around with toys etc & if there is a flat spot tell the Dr at her vaccinations. :) The only person I know whose baby had a flat head had a super severe case of it so I'm not sure about smaller ones.
-
Kim sophie has a light flat spot on one side, since birth she has favoured obe side, when shes up i place arolled up flat nappy under the side she favours to slightly roll her tothe other so she faces the way we want. her head is slightly not symetrical when looking fromthe top, not bad, but there,we are seeing a kiddie chiro next thursday to help loosen up her neck muslces as they seem tight. has your MCHN checked her head out? she should be able toadvise you of waht else you can do to avoid it getting worse
Christy i'm sorry to hear your having a bad day, your an amazing person to get through what you do i dont know if i'd cope like you do, wish i could give you a big hug (hugging you right now!!!!!) keep your chin up sweetie.
-
Hi all,
Well since the December thread has gone by the wayside, I figure I can either post in Nov or Jan - so we'll start in Nov and see how it goes ;)
Hamish is 6w today, going well. I have a weigh in on Monday, so hopefully he is gaining weight well. He was so little to start with, and so maybe he is up to 9lb now.
Dummies... I hated them, but we ended up giving Jenna one cause all she wanted to do was SUCK!!! My nipples got a bit sick of it all. Hamish is the opposite, he doesn't comfort suck, but he gets such terrible tummy pains and the dummy relieves them immensely. Problem is, he can't keep thedummy in his mouth, so we are forever sticking it back in!
We took Jenna's dummy off her just before her 1st birthday, and she hasn't wanted it since, and doesn't suck her fingers, so its all good :D
-
Thanks everyone for the dummy replies - makes me feel a bit more comfortable about using one especially if it might be helping him with pain.
Fi - welcome to November! I think we are all a bit hit and miss with posting regularly. So hard with a newborn -well I find it hard anyway!
Christy - hugs to you !!! I totally understand the "bad day" scenario although not as well as you I am sure. I feel I am at the end of my tether many days and Logan doesn't sound nearly as unsettled as Jovie. It certainly is horrible seeing them in pain. It breaks my heart that my baby is not happier - i feel I am missing out on some of the joy of new baby smiles/giggles etc. He certainly does smile but I have seen other bubs who look so much more content...... sigh!!
Can anyone look after Jovie for at least an hour to give you some "time out" ? sounds like you really need some "Christy" time. Hope things improve for us both soon!
BTW - the HAB is a life saver. He will drop off to sleep usually quite quickly in it and the last two days has slept 3hrs and 3.5hrs in the morning. i just get a bit tired of having him "on' me all the time and really don't want a situation where he will only sleep in the HAB. So still persisting with the hammock.
-
Fi you are always welcome here!!! I have been meaning to check up on you and do maybe once a week, but it will be great to have you in here with Hamish :)
-
Welcome Fi!! We were in belly buddies together, now in baby buddies!!
Glad to hear Hamish is going well!
What happened to the December thread???
-
Hi all, good to see everyone posting. I have felt a bit lonely not hearing from any one you for so long :frown: but I know how hard it is to get two minutes to yourself.
The house is sleeping, and I'm finally on my own, without SOMEONE demanding my immediate attention. And I don't mean Aston. Its the other three that have been driving me slightly mad! Roll on Monday, school is back! Then I will only have DH to deal with. His hours at work have been cut down significantly, so much so that he is looking for another job. Its nice having him around, but you know what they say - familiarity breeds contempt. I am one of these people that need to have some space on a regular basis otherwise I start to go slight insane. I desperately want to do some painting, for the head space, but it is hard to do with DD, DS and DH around. Aston is the easy one. lol.
Christy:hugs: darlin. I had a day like that the other day, where I just shut myself in the bathroom so I could BREATH! Motherhood is the hardest job in the world to do, and when you can't instantaneously fix a problem it breaks your heart ten fold.
Kim - how you doing? You mentioned in a post that you think you might speak to someone about your moods swinging? did you, or are you feeling better with in yourself? I thought I was having a major anxiety attack on Wednesday (in the past I have had acute anxiety disorder) but I think it was a hypo because once I had something to eat it settled. I really must get the follow up GTT done. I hope its not diabetes. I'm not sure which is worse.
I asked my GP about him getting his needles a few days early, and she wasn't concerned. We had a Paedtrician appointment on Wednesday, and they weren't concerned either that it was early. The hip ultrasound was all clear, so that was a relief. I didnt realise how much it was concerning me until I knew that everything was ok. Funny isn't how things can knock around in your subconscious, even when you think your ok with it.
I'll be thinking of you when you take Chelsea for her needles, and be there in spirit ok? Aston was only out of sorts for the day, and back to himself the next day. I'm going to have to check aston in the morning now for a flat spot, but I cant say I have noticed one, and the CHN, or doctor, or paed didnt mention anything...
Hi Fi, look forward to getting to "know" you and your little man a bit better.
Meredith - I have used dummies with all my kids. I just made it a rule that it was only for sleeping. And once it became an issue with sleep - them waking because they couldn't find it - it went in the bin. I didn't want to be a human dummy - I'll be the milk bar - but not the dummy. lol. Aston has just found his thumb as well, which is a first for me because Laura and Nathan didn't. So I guess we will see what happens. Do what feels right for you. My hat goes off to you having Logan sleep in a HAB, Nathan was like that, if he could have gotten inside my skin I'm sure he would have. If its any consolation, he was a wonderful toddler, whereas my daughter was a night mare. Hang in there darlin, and forget the housework. what gets done gets done, what doesnt can wait. I know its hard but try not to compare yourself to your friend. Each situation is different, and there may come a time when things are so great and organised for her - not that I'm wishing that on her of course. Just take one day at a time, that is all we ever have any control over.
AJP = wonderful that you are feeling better with in yourself darlin. Meds made the world of difference for me too when I had PND with Nat. I had to laugh about the thumb sucking. A very close friend of mine is a dental nurse too, and that was her reaction when I mentioned that Aston had started sucking his thumb. Both her kids have AMAZING teeth, and are having work done on them to make sure they stay they way. She works for a state of the art dentist who has all the latest technology etc, so they will have beautiful teeth when they are adults.
Well Iguess I should go to bed. This week has been extremely hectic, and I should make the most of the sleeping baby and sleep myself. Aston wakes once in the night, and then around 5am. God I can't wait for him to sleep until 5, without waking, what I would do for 8 hours uninteruppted sleep...did I mention that in a moment of madness we got a puppy???? (ah.that's right your a vet Meredith aren't you...have some questions but will save them for another time.) Like I didn't have enough to do already!
I forgot to say...I had Aston weighed again on Wednesday - 5.395kg! My arms ache....lol
-
WTG Aston!!! BIg boy for mum now...
I have to see my nurse on Tuesday so ill see how big my lil princess is!!!
What did Aston weigh at birth??
-
Hi Kim.
Aston was 7pd2oz, 3.235 kg when he was born, and 53cm. How you doing darlin?
-
Ah Chelsea was 7p 4oz, 3.385kg, 48cm.
So a few differences there! Last time we got a check up she was under average for everything for her age... :frown: lets hope she has grown lots and lots more!!
Im doing ok... went thru a rough patch the other day thinking a was a bad mum and a failure (theres a post in the section some where) but now after hearing everyones replies i realise im normal.
I havent spoken to any one about my moods yet..but i will be when i go to get Chelsea's needles done.... make it my 6 week chekup....at 9 weeks..LOL
Im getting there....so im happy. DH has been great and so supportive.
-
Hi Kim, I think we all have good and bad days. And if you meet someone that never has any bad days - well I think their either deluding themselves or lying!
I was late too for that "6 week check". My doctor has moved, so I had to find a new one, that's always fun - not. But I think I have found someone I'm happy with. A bit ditzy, but through.
We are off on a BBQ pontoon boat today, completely unplanned and spontaneous - last venture for the holidays. The kids are all excited, me - hmmmm - apprehensive. Shouldn't be, but that's just me. Well guess I'd better go and get all the bits and pieces organised.
Have a good day everyone
-
Hi Everyone,
Gosh I had heaps of reading to catch up on, its been a while since Ive posted.
Sorry to all the mummys who have been having a rough trot of late. Hope the bubs are settling down now and the mummys realise what wonderful mummys you all are.
About the dummies, I love them. Xander used one which really helped with his reflux, but Baylee wont use one:frown: he wants me to be mummy dummy. And now hes starting to suck his fingers Grrrr.
Everything is great on the homefront. Baylee is starting to play, its so cute. Hes becoming a big boy.
-
Hi again,
thanks for the welcomes :D Nice to belong somewhere.
I think there were only a few babies born in December, and none of them are buddies chatting sorts. The same thing happened in my April thread with Jenna, but luckily I was fairly well attached to the March girls since she was due in March.
Nothing to say. I'm just bloody tired today! We have good nights and bad nights, but the good thing is that Jenna is getting so much better at night, so thats one hurdle jumped!
-
what a day! it was great, the kids had a ball, DH caught a fish, and Aston slept the whole time we were on the boat. What a little legend. must be all the rocking of the waves.i'm shattered though, early night for me I think. Hope everyone else is having a good weekend.
cheers
-
Aston the legend!!! Well done!
Fi thats great to hear that Jenna is getting better at nights, do you think she could send Matilda some sleep information ;)
Matilda keeps waking up Jovie at night. She comes into our room to "check" on Jovie. LOL cute but not at 3am!!
-
Thats so cute of Matilda, Christy. Xander does similar things for Baylee, like brings him a toy and gives it to him when hes sleeping(but wakes him up in the process).
Today I caught him trying to climb into the cradle while B was sleeping. I asked him what he thought he was doing and he told me that B 'needed' him.
Im glad you had a great day today Vicky. Good work Aston.
I hope Jenna keeps up the good night time sleep Fi.
I need some advice girls, Im contemplating giving B a bottle of formula at night before his big night time sleep. Sometimes he will sleep from 9-9.30pm til 3-4am and others he'll wake at 1am then 3am then 5am etc. Very occasionally he sleeps through. I love BF but its exhausting at night when its every 2hrs. I think hes just using me as a dummy coz he doesnt need the feed.
I did it with X, but I went back to work when he was 13 wks and I needed to sleep, now that Im not going back to work, am I just being selfish?
-
HI Ladies,
I'm so stuffed today. The last week has finally caught up with me, and I have spent the day in my jim jams. about the most active thing I have done is cover books for school tomorrow. I've discovered that I wont be able to drink coke, unless I want a very awake baby the following 24 hours. Thankfully he is just awake, not cranky to go with it. Aston slept heaps yesterday on the boat, so maybe that is part of it too.
Robyn - I don't think you being selfish at all. Getting a full night's sleep seems to be my
obsession of late too. Do what works say I.
well guess i better get motivated to get dinner organised. early night in our house, yay that school is back. only have the puppy and the husband to contend with. lol
-
ROBYN- as vicky said do waht right for you, but maybe try and settle Baylee before offering him the boob in the night so that in turn he may self settle during the night, dont under estimate BF, it maybe enough and like you said maybe he's waking cos he cant self settle again. Sophie luckly for us is a great self settler and sleeps through, we often get 13 hours but usually 11, and she's exclusivly BF!! so you may find that with formula he still wakes up!! but dont feel bad about giving him formula, god we all need our sleep !!
VICKY i'm gald you had a great day fishing, hard to belive schools back hey!
CHRISTY- Matilda's so cute checking on her sister!! but i agree not at 3.30 inthe morning lol....
FI- your most welcome here as you already know!! glad Jenna's gettin better at night
KIM hope your doing ok darl dont forget to talk to your DR about your moods and keep me posted, how's Chelseas head with the flat spot??
all is well here Sophie is growing nicely just need to keep working on the slight flat spot on the side of her head, sleeping well as i mentioned got 13 hours last night WTF!!! i go to bed everynight thinking this will be the night she wont sleep through!! i still dont expect it to last even though shes's been sleeping through since 3 weeks, i guess that will probably change when she teeths or decides she needs more feed during the night.
have changed to taking meds to night as i was always drowsy, so feel heaps better now, i dont yawn all day!! hope everyone is going great guns
-
Thanx girls, I might try to 'not' feed him tonight and get him just to settle back to sleep.
I think his main problem is that he wants to suck his fingers or thumb(he hasnt decided which one yet) and he still wants to be wrapped. I've tried wrapping him with his hands up near his face so he could still get to them, but he just ends up untucking himself and then gets *****ty coz hes not wrapped.
If he could suck his fingers then maybe he wouldnt need me at night, maybe??? Anyway I'll try not feeding him tonight and let you know how we go.
-
hey
Still way behind but did a quick read
Fi: Welcome to the thread :)
All is good here, just busy
Mason kept me up all night friday night screaming in pain with his teeth, so dreading Cooper getting teeth now as it reminded me, we have been lucky though, its the second time in teething that he been like that, must just be a big tooth coming out
Luke is back at school tommorow and Mason has his second time at daycare, will see how he goes with staying for the nap time, they think he should as he done well last time, we shall see how he settles first, really dreading the morning rush though!
Will try to keep up a bit more now school is back, but i am sure you all know whats it like with kids anyhow :)
-
Hi guys,
Just popping in before Ella wakes for lunch.
Good to see everyone survived Xmas/NY. Took us 3 weeks to resettle Ella into a routine. Then she goes and sleeps through the night for 4 nights. Then she stared wanting to feed in the night again. (last night she fed twice) Maybe this is a growth spurt.
She's become so vocal. The last week making Grrrrrrr sounds and squealing quite loud to get attention.
Next week she turns 3 months. Cant wait to see what surprises next month brings.
:)
Ann
-
Well today Chelsea had her 8 week review and went well.

* Length 56 cm-difference of 3 cm since 4 weeks ago
* Head Circumference 38.3 cm difference of 1.3cm since 4 weeks ago
All up has gained (since birth):
* Weight: 1595 gm
* Length: 8cm
* Head circumference: 4.3cm
Needles booked in for Thursday as well as my own check up.
-
Great Job Chelsea!! Good growth ;)
Ann they do go through a growth spurt around 12 weeks. Jovie's woken up more in the past 2 nights and she's around 12 weeks.
-
Kim - great job mummy getting your girl to grow so well
Christy - just wondering how things are going with Jovie and the reflux etc?
Did you ever use Losec with Matilda ? After what I thought was initial success with the Zantac we have continued to get worse again and I would say definitely no better than prior to meds, if not worse - at least on the sleeping issues. GP has given me script for Losec and said to try at the end of this week if no improvement with Zantac. just not sure whether to or not. It is off label use for babies which always makes me a touch anxious. however at this stage, I am willing to give anything a try!
Had my post natal check up with OB today - all is well with me (physically anyway). I almost laughed when he asked had we DTD yet. Much as I would like to (and I know DH is desperate-LOL!!), there is honestly just no chance with Logan the way he is. The only time he sleeps for any reasonable time is in the HAB or in bed cuddled up to me so not much opportunity to get intimate.
Anyone else struggle with this issue?
Going to take the little man to a chiropractor tomorrow - was reccomended to me by Pinky as a possible aid for the reflux and any other issues which may be contributing to his crying/sleeping problems. praying something will help soon!
-
hi guys, well guess what has happened to me today - I woke up with mastitis! :frown: Not happy. especially as it is my birthday as well. have spent the day expressing and massaging and feeding. and lying down between all that. thank god dh has been home today - it hurts too much to pick aston up. I went to the doctor and got a script for antibiotics, that I will only fill if I'm not feeling better tomorrow....please let me get better tomorrow....
-
Happy Birthday!!!!!
Bugger about the mastitis...you poor thing. I hope u get better real quick!!
-
Happy Birthday Vicky, so sorry about the mastitis. Not a nice way to be spending your bday. Hope you are feeling a bit better 2moro.
Chelsea sounds like shes growing beautifully Kim, good work.
Meredith - Hope the Chiro works on Logan 2moro and you and DH can get some 'alone' time.
Well I caved in with not feeding Baylee, I tried to comfort him to sleep without the boob, but he wouldnt settle. He had a go at his hands but that didnt work so he must have been hungry coz when I gave in he fed well. I dont think it was comfort feeding coz he only woke once over the last 2 nights. He been sleeping from 9-9.30pm til 4-5am. Then back to sleep til 7.30ish
I didnt think about it before, but I think it must have been a growth spurt when he was waking every 2 hrs (thanx Christy ;) ) hopefully this pattern continues.
-
Meredith - hope the chrio helps Logan darlin. You must be feeling rather stretched at the moment. I hope you have lots of support around to ease the load.
Kim- Chelsea is doing great. Isn't it wonderful to see the growth? I have taken specific photos of aston on the 29th of each month so I can see it in pictures too.
Robyn - I can't wait til Aston sleeps from 9/10 til 5...i really ambecoming sleep obsessed. isn't it funny that we forget about the growth spurts until AFTER they are through them! and go - oh yeah that's what was going on.
AJP - how wonderful that Sophie has been sleeping thru for so long. Glad to hear the meds are working too.
Christy - how you and your little girl doing? I had a little chuckle at Matilda wanting to "check" on Jovie at 3 in the morning...got to love those big sisters.
Luua - hope Ella settles back into a rountine soon for you. I love it when they 'find' their voice. its very entertaining to listen to them
Belinda - i'm so glad that the kids have gone back to school. last week was so long. and they were really starting to get on each other's nerves. I'm sure that I have ended up with mastitis because i was so flat out last week. Bugger with the teething - I'd forgotten all about that one!
Fi - How are you and your little man doing?
Me - well feeling a little better, still had a temp in the middle of the night, and my breast isn't quite as sore, but think I will still continue with what I was doing yesterday, heat, expressing etc. I tell you yesterday I was ready to hand in my resignation from breastfeeding, and motherhood - trouble was I couldn't find anyone to take it!! lol Hopefully I am on the improve. really don't want to take antibiotics if I don't have to. I had mastitis with Nat and took antibiotics, and we both ended up with thrush...
-
Vicky - Hope the Mastitis didn't ruin your birthday and DH helped you get your mind off the pain. Ouch!
Christy - thanks for the info on the growth spurt. How long to they last? 1-2 days?
Last night Ella slept from 7.30 - 5.30 then fed and went back to bed till 8.45. Her sleep pattern is all over the place but i guess this is what she needs. As long as she goes to bed at about the same time then she has that to keep it regular.
Meredith - Good luck with the Chiro. Hope it helps with settling.
Ella reached out to grab a toy today (which she's never done before). Its a turtle with a long red neck so it was bright and easy for her to hold onto. She's spent so much time vocalising I've been wondering when she would develop her motor skills. I'm so happy she was able to reach out and grab it but I'm sure this is the start of trouble ;)

Vicky - Happy belated birthday! How horrible to have mastitis- i can well imagine the pain! Hope it clears up quick without antibiotics.
Luua - What a clever girl Ella is! I can't wait until Logan is actually " playing" but then I'll probably miss him being so little..LOL!
Well chiro was very nice and very thorough. Defintely found a problem with L ogan's right shoulder - even I could see it when it was pointed out. I'm not getting too excited about this helping all our issues but lets hope he gets some relief. He also suggested dairy allergy which I had started to think about myself so might try elimination diet for me - at this point I willtry whatever!!

Hello girls!!
Vicky - yuck at mastitis! If things aren't working take them, I've heard some horror stories. The other remedy I've heard about is cabbage leaves... haven't tried it myself.
Meredith - I read your posts and urgh... its awful isn't it? Jovie is doing heaps better. HEAPS. Okay she is unsettled today but let me give you a run down of what I've been doing/done.
2 weeks before Christmas she started getting more & more unsettled. Developed oral thrush & I was put on antibiotics at the same time for other issues... The week before Christmas I saw an infant chiropractor for help with wind issues. On Christmas day she refused to breastfeed. Three days later she started thinking about it again and I saw a lactation consultant who gave me heaps of information about milk intolerance in babies & health side effects. It all made sense (I'll PM you the links to the sites she was talking about). So I went off all cows milk products. 10 days later I went to GP for her vax or the one that I give (different convo all together) and decided against doing them & got script for Zantac & referral for paediatrician. The next day Jovie's poos became normal, they hadn't been normal her whole life. So I made an appt with the paediatrician for the second week of Feb giving the whole elimination thing time to work. I then made an appt with an acupuncturist who deals with infants as well. I went the first time & Jovie was a mess afterwards, the second time... she's been a normal baby. Well... until I started antibiotics again yesterday  She's seen the chiro 4 times and I'm not sure its done heaps of good, but the acupuncture definately. The milk elimination diet, most certainly.
With Matilda I tried everything medical possible. She was on heaps of meds (never losec) but others swear by it in the reflux society... and Theresa has posted about it in the reflux forum. With Jovie I thought I'd try a more natural approach first... and its been a hard journey but I'm seeing results now. HTH!
My burn got infected yesterday :( so now I have daily bandage changes as well as antibiotics... crap. I hope it doesn't effect all the hard work my diet and stuff has done to repair Jovie's guts. I'm considering bottle feeding & expressing off my milk for a while so she doesn't get bad again...

After still battling with high temps for most of the day, I finally decided to fill the script. The other option of waiting and seeing was past now, I don't fancy ending up in hospital with an abcess. I hope that in 24 hours I am feeling 100percent better then I do at the moment. I think the fact that I was developing some very nice red patches on my breast that were significantly bigger then yesterday was a good indicator that all my expressing, compresses and feeding was not going to stop it.
Meredith - glad you had some kind of success with the chiro. good idea about the lactose intolrence, and eliminating diary from your diet. Reach over and give yourself a pat on the back darlin, you doing great in exceptional circumstances.
Luua - its lovely when bub starts doing "new" things and reaching those milestones. Before you know it Ella will be rolling around! it goes so quick. even in the hard times - like now for me with a very sore breast -it goes too quickly,, and before you know it they are 11 and in year 6!
well, trying to get some washing done, and dinner organised. dh at the physio, so its me and the kids....witching hour is beginning....
