well done tara on the 800 posts!!!!
ive missed you!!!!! you had me worried but glad all is ok!!!
i too read that, very scary!
having poo issues with sophie again tonight, poo's after going to bed and asleep, so cried and coughing., i know she not quite right of late :(
-
My post was removed. I stated that i think that if people havent got a medical basis then they shouldnt tell people not to worry when they post about medical issues. I also cant believe that someone - and this seems to happen a lot, not just in this case - is seriously worried about the health of their child, yet takes the time to post about it. I also said that i'd rather go to the hospital and be labelled as paranoid than have my child die.
i dont think thats offensive, just stating it how it is.
i've been on here for over 2 years and have always been helpful. i'm offended that someone else finds me offensive.
-
i would also like to defend myself. i am pregnant and part Irish. Hence, irrational, moody and a little fiery
-
LOL taralee.... look it is scary that people listen to complete strangers (most of them) on the net about health issues for bubs. In my mind if I'm worried, I go to the hospital.
I think people take things others say and get offended too easily. I told the mods that you have a good head on your shoulders ;) sometimes its hard not to be hurt when people take you wrongly.
-
Aw thanks Christy. I obviously didn't mean to offend anyone and in hinesight, do feel bad about it (perhaps you could let cailin know for me :) ). At the time, I just couldn't believe what I was reading, to be honest with you.
As mentioned, the Irish in me likes to shoot my mouth of now and consider it later ;) DH calls me a little firestarter all the time. We all have our faults but i'm a good person.
LOL i guess as i've gotten older I've realised common sense isnt all that common. Hmm...sounds like a catchy signature.
Thanks again for going in to bat for me Christy, you're a good sort ;)
-
tara i didnt read your post but i have to agree! too many people tell your "she'll be right" and their not! mothers instincts win hands down!
sophie has a cold :( ment to be going swimming for the first time in 3 weeks tomorrow but not sure i should take her :( i love swimming :(
also heading up to inlaws friday by then we'll all probably have colds
-
Thanks Jols, it really fired me up yesterday. that poor mother wrote that around her baby's mouth had gone all white. that should be a sign that something is up and for people to say that its ok since he doesnt have a fever?!?! it boggles me!
anywhos!!!!!! i'm over it LOL Poor Sophie, let's hope she has a good sleep tonight and feels better in the morning. have you got a vaporiser to put vicks in or something? (i wont say she'll be fine because i'm not dr. LOL)
-
:hello:
I'm here... tired... hope everyone had a goodish day.
-
hi ya back miss vicky! go to bed!!! mm ok its a little early!!
poor miss sophie was in bed by 5.55pm tonight!! this cold is knocking her around, off to the dr's tomorrow as im concerned about her chest
-
mmmmmmmm... whingey sick small child that has become a koala..... no hot water because DH switched the washing machine to HOT water wash - so when I put towels into wash this morning in our 8kg washing machine - all the hot water has been used... which wouldnt be a problem if we weren't on off peak water heating!!!..... what else....... oh yeah - bloody dog ripped off an expensive doona cover and decided to taste it - no buttons left, and nice hole in it..... SIL who moved in on the weekend decided to sit down and surf the internet last night on her laptop - and consequently sloooooooooooowwwwww down the connection sooo much that I kept getting booted off MY computer....... (i know petty but I'm having a whinge)....... my airconditioner needs the evaporator replaced, and wouldn't you know it - thats the ONLY thing NOT covered by the warranty!!!!.- $475 later... DH calls into the garage to check the whirring noise on his car is - bearing in the gear box - $450 plus the brakes another $200... friggin helll..... going back to climb in my hole now!
-
I hear ya Vicky, I had a day like that too.
DH made it all better tho with a lunch time special ;) maybe you need one LMAO
-
Definately!!! i've got an itch that needs scratchin!!!!!!!!!
-
bugger about the hot water vicky!
poor sophie has bronchitis!! never had it before!! we had dr's for this arvo but i called then first thing this morning as she was really struggling when coughing so took her straight up, poor chicken, so shes on AB's so hopefully they'll kick in the next few days
-
oh jols. poor baby girl... not nice hun. Aston is worse this morning. I ended up putting him to bed at 8.00, he has just woken up - and is cranky and croaky. we were going to go out but i think we will be giving it a miss. some much for getting out and about this week.
Hope sophie is feeling better once those AB's kick in.
-
Hi Ladies, sorry ive not been on. Alot has been going on and im starting to feel BB just isnt my place anymore. I love you all to much to leave though.
Vicky my apoligies for not replying to your SMS and messages online. Thanks for thinking of me babe :)
Christy im so sorry to hear of your mum...i do hope things can be helped and improved.
Nelly damn poor Jake has to get better soon
Jols damn Sophie being sick
Tara how you going?
Blanche hope your well
Gigi have you received the book yet?
Ann hows Child care going....damn about ur teeth too.
Anyone else....hope all is ok with you. I have no idea if ive missed anyone
On to us. Chelsea is the sickest little girl ive ever seen. She has 40-41 degree temp, wont eat, wont drink, cries all the time, her nose is running, breathing hard, just clings to me, but dr says its just a cold and she will be ok, just keep fluids up...yeh and how do i do that when she says no and refuses....but anyhow im trying. Jasmine is coming down with it too.
Im home alone 2 sick kids. Im sick myself. Craig cant stay home cos has $hit hitting the fan at work, he also has a broken foot (not gout in the end Gigi....went to new dr). I feel my world is crashing down just when i was on top of things again.
My enhanced team returned last week, very happy with my progress. So thats a step forward i spose
My IL's fly down tomorrow. Craig and i are off lunchtime Friday to Lakes Entrance for the weekend without the girls. Im silently $hitting myself about leaving them for 2 whole nights, but i know i need the time away from them.
Anyway i best be off.. just wanted to have a quick update. I usually dont come online much, but seeing though i feel a bit lost right now im back for a little while.
-
good to see you back kim!
hope the girls get better soon, so hard seeing them so sick :(
hope you and craig enjoy your weekend away together, i love lakes entrance!!
-
me again!!!
sophie spiked a 40 temp this arvo, very scary, went doopey floppy so into the bath to cool her down, amazing how 6 hours to the dot from doses of nurofen and dimatapp she went down hill, and quickly too! she a bit better, ate a little dinner, will be back in bed at 6pm again tonight
-
Yep ive endured 40+ deg temps for the 2nd day now. Its not nice at all. Nothing is working for Chelsea. Jasmine has just woken from a nap....after a disaster with her bloody BBH nappy (the first time with a cloth butt) making her clothes wet, sheets wet, matress wet :wall:
She now has a high temp, bad nose....going down hill extremely fast....Chelsea is no better.
Every 4-6 hours Chels is drugged with Panadol, Dimetapp and Nurofen and still nothing :(
FFS....what next??
-
Ended up going out - a mum rang me, and her little guy has a cold too..but she desperately needed a change of scenery too. so we met for lunch and walked around the civic to keep each other sane chatting. it was good - i ended up being able to the stuff I needed - well nearly all of it.
kim - if the only place you pop into on BB is here that's all that matters to me. Just want to make sure my little boys birth buddy is doing ok. :hugs: Have a brillinat weekend away - I'm jealous!!! hoping to go out for dinner on friday night. finger's crossed aston gets better.
How's everyone elses day panned out??
-
i need a weekend away! :crying: preferably with sven by my side giving me massages and someone else with a platter of nibblies and pina coladas on tap (non-alcoholic of course).
Hats off to you Kim, you deserve it ;)
feeling lots of baby kicks and tumbles this afternoon. so reassuring!
-
tara that's wonderful darlin. i'm glad your little baby on board is saying hello.
-
nooooooo!!! i just went to get evie up from her nap and she'd pulled her nappy off and painted with poo!! she's a girl! she's cute and sweet! she cant do that!!!
good thing that m/s has passed!!!!
-
oh joy!! i have yet to have a yucky poo story to share...unless you count aston eating chicken poo???
I have found this brilliant website that i have spent all morning on - all about different ways you can save money! called simple savings
so i'm off to the shopping and hopefully spend under $30 in groceries... let you know if I do it! I went through the pantry and fridge, did a menu plan for the next week based on what we have, and have the shortest shopping list ever!!! the most expensive thing I'm going to have to get is fruit and veges!
its sunny here today - yay! but Aston is poorly - poor little man. supposed to be going swimming tomorrow but if he is unwell won't be going. sigh.
-
Our house rreaks of vomit. Ive changed Chelsea's sheets 2 times, clothes 3 times and she has had 2 showers now and her hair still smells. She wont eat a thing, wont drink a thing. Had her bottle this morning cos i thought she was ok...projectile vomitted over me WHILE i was feeding Jasmine...so we both got coated. It came out like cottage cheese. Now she keeps doing it everywhere. She had a nap and whne i got her up the bed was coated. Her dolly is now also in the wash.
What can i give her to eat? She wont drink water, gastrolyte....nothing. Im so scared for her.
At this stage we are not going away so goodbye $450 cos i cant get my money back :(
-
Kim - wish i could help out...how has the arvo been? if she isnt drinking anything, might be best to take her back to docs..poor little chicken i hope she gets better soon.
Vicky- how the shopping go?
Tara - ewww..Emelia has pulled her nappy off a few times in her cot but luckily she only did wees!
Jols - how is Sophie?
Nelly -Jake any better
i havent been on much latley Emelia is teething and badly shes not a happy camper, she has been keeping me up at night so i try rest as much in the day..one tooth has cut through ..see how we go tonight!
-
Blanche - those teeth are such buggers! Evies had 5 come through in one week...at least it explains their moods i guess.
Vicky - let me know how you go. i've been working on menu plans too, its hard to keep the grocery bill down when there's all those other things to buy...like nappies, wipes, girl stuff, boy stuff lol
-
Kim - sorry, i msn'd you ;)
-
Kim - how's she doing now? did you go back to the doctor? bugger about the weekend... i'm thinking we won't be going out for dinner tomorrow night - aston is still a koala bear. he has horrid nappies too at the moment. but im glad he isn't throwing up too. darlin... hang in there.
tara - i will pm you the website address...
Blanche - bloody teeth! how's your bambino on board going?
jols - aston is the same - as soon as the nurfen and dimetapp wear off... he goes down hill fast!
well shopping - my weekly budget for groceries (including meat/vege/fruit) is 150. i spent 68 dollar and that included 10 on pet food. so while I spent over 30 - i still saved over half what we would spend usually. and it was all because went through the entire cupboard and fridge, and menu planned for a week... anyway - i'm a happy bunny.
-
Vicky - well done on the shopping i really need to get ours down! we spend 200+a wk now!! bub is doing good, i hate to say but i wish i was 38wks instead of 28 cos i feel like a whale and i am so uncomfortable!!
Tara - wow 5 teeth in one week i sortoff wish that will happen with Emelia so then they are through and less to come before bub2 comes, Emelia is a very bad teether..constantly cries
Emelia was just screaming this afternoon and she just didnt know wat to do with herself she wanted a cuddle then she didnt :( we went to my parents for dinner and she was happy cos she got to play with her nan & grandad and took her mind off the pain...fingers crossed we will have a better night.
Kim - hows Chelsea? thinking of u
-
Chelsea has stopped vomitting for the moment....fingers crossed nothign over night. She drank a little of her bottle but thats the most amount of fluid all day no food wat so ever.
Thanks for the MSN message Tara....in regs to the apple juice...i gave her some a little diluted and she wouldnt even touch that! She loooooves apple juice too.
Blanche im sure ur beautiful with ur tummy :)
IL's still came down and not sure if we are heading away... will see how the girls are in the morning.
-
oh wow Kim, that sounds awful
i may be saying stuff that you have already done, but
- doctor
- locum
- parents helpline
- ringing local hospital
- asking at local chemist
all come into my mind
big hugs to you, i hope Chelsea gets better enough for you and Craig to go away, $450 is alot to pay for NO holiday!
about teh saving money thing, i'm saving on baby wipes by having a stack of flannels by the change table, i wet and wringe one out when i change bilby's nappy. They are actually easier to clean up a pooey nappy with, than a baby wipe, cos the loopy fabric "grabs" the poo better. I just realised, this idea might only work if you are using modern cloth nappies, cos i already have a Little Squirt for getting the poo off bamboo nappies, so it's no extra hassle to squirt off poo of flannels as well. Oh well, if you're not using bamboo nappies, maybe just the idea for using flannels to wip eyour bub's bot after a WET nappy only?
we're also saving money by NOT using many of the baby products that the bounty bag and baby magazines brainwahs you that you need for baby. We only wash bilby with water and rarely use anything on her, ocassionally organic shampoo. We're actually not doing this to save money, i just don't want chemicals on her young developing skin, but a side result is saving money.
KIM - the beautiful bilby book DID arrive, we've read it to her four times already, it's so lovely. I had it in my head, i didn't want to email you to say it had arrived, UNTIL i had a nice photo of her with the book to put with it, and that hasn't worked out yet, so i'm behind the eightball and you must think me awfully rude! but i wanted to give you a VISUAL thank you! showing you her enjoying the book! me an dmy silly ideas i get in to my noggin!!! WE LOVE IT!
my ideas are ok, it's the TIMELINE i stuff up on !!!! I have too mnay ideas, an dnot enough time to make them all happen ha ha!
FINGERS CROSSED Chelsea is feeling better by the time you read this Kimmy! we're all cheering for you that you DO get to go on hols!
CHRISTY - thinking of you too, have you booked your flights? do you know when you're going? What size is Jovie now? (in kgs).
-
have a question for you MCN mummas...
I currently spend 30 every 3 weeks on nappies - unless of course the nappies are on sale, so it may be less - but on average its 30/3weeks. I figure that Aston has another 12months in nappies - so i figure that in the next 12 months I will spend approx 520 on nappies.
My question is do you think that it would be worthwhile to put him into MCN during the day now or would I not get the value for buying MCN's now?
Can you tell I'm on a savings kick??? just doing the economics... seeing as he is my last baby, there won't be anymore bums going into MCN's so i don't want to waste money if that makes sense... but if buying them will actually save me money then its something I would consider.
Anyway - gigi, jols, christy, kim... all input appreciated please. I'm going to post this in the MCN thread as well.
Thanks ladies.
-
Chels vomited thru the night but seems better today....so we are still heading off for the weekend...i do feel bad but Craig and i both agreed we need to do it and IL's are the same...the girls will be ok :)
Vicky id still buy MCN.....maybe if only day time you wont need a great deal so want be a waste of money in the long run. I guess i have the advantage (as will the other ladies) because they can be 'hand me downs' for all my other kids. They can then be re-sold when Aston is out of nappies. Everyone will still buy them.
I bought some Pea pods 2nd hand...but TBH it was a mistake and i dont use them unless its an emergency...they leak!
I have about 6 for day time and sometimes i use sposies at night...if not i have my night ones too.
All up i have 20 nappies to do the girls but going to buy more very soon (cos the store is now been accepted to retail Bumgenius and Bubblebubs).
Have started Jas on MCN now too.. man she is a hunny in them :)
Gigi...ohhh id love for you to get a pic with Bilby and her new book. So glad she enjoys it
-
Glad things are looking up, Kim. Hope you guys get to go away, you deserve it!
Blanche - have you tried the Brauer Teething Relief? I got some the other day and it seems to take the edge off the pain i think. it's got Belladonna in it which is a mild natural sedative.
Vicky - thats a great idea about the MCN's. I probably should look into it now there'll be 2 bums in need of nappies! i just worry about the initial outlay...(any thoughts, guys?)
Gigi - good idea about the flannels too (you must be the only person outside WA who calls them flannels! when i moved to QLD everyone was like 'a what?!?!' its called a washer LOL). Also about the no baby stuff..its amazing what crap goes into those products! quite scary what it can do to us, let alone babies. i like the smells tho LOL naughty mummy!
Christy - how's things going? Praying for some good news for you ;)
-
ohhhh Vicky I could loan you a few to trial and see how you go as well. Embarrasingly I have like 30 and always want more, bit addicted now. BUT Bumgenius are my favourite.
Kim, Ann, Jols, Nelly... I hope your sick bubs start recovering. Its so awful. Both girls have a chest cold atm, but its not too bad, no temps or anything.
Otherwise... life has been too crazy. Matilda's been a bit of a cow lately actually. Like today I made them sausage rolls for morning tea and told her to wait because they were just out of the oven & hot. She started tantruming over the wait, so then she wanted me to peel the skin off... lol she's weird I know and I was peeling the pastry off & it was too hot so I said wait 2 minutes and brought the egg timer over... well... the end of the world came to my house. So I got cranky & said fine I'll peel it and I burnt my finger.
Then I had a horrible mummy moment & shoved my finger in her face & said "See what your behaviour caused? Mummy got a burnt finger because of you" Then she collapsed in tears on the ground....
ARGH...
meanwhile Jovie is carrying on crying because she wants the sausage rolls too.
I'm so over it atm... I need a break.
-
Aw Christy i have them days... then i feel so so so bad for having a mental attack at poor Chels..which then sets off Jasmine then i get angry at her...argh... vicious cycle some days!
Well we are leaving soon... and im getting teary cos i wont see my girls for 2 days....some one tell me im over reacting!!!! I love my girls so much but i need a break from them...
Least they have Grandma and Grandpa to fuss over them....Chels loves G'ma cos she gives great baby massages! Puts her to sleep
Gigi, Christy and Jols......do u use liners in ur nappies? I have been using the flushables and it seems to be giving the girls some kinda rash.....?
-
Kim you are totally over reacting ;) but any mother would. Its hard to leave our babies, but it is a necesity
I don't use liners with microfibre nappies like bumG, but I do for my baby behinds hemp and I use microfibre unless she has a rash.
-
mummy meltdown moments are horrid aren't they? been having a few of those myself lately. but after my epiphany on Monday - perspective is changing, so its nice to feel a little calmer then I have been. I'm soooo sorry I have been so flat ladies. life has been a bit overwhelming of late, but I am feeling better.
Kim - have a wonderful weekend away hun... be kind to yourself darlin, mothering is the hardest job in the world I have ever done. and one that I have to constantly change and adapt.. i had no good role model, so had to Learn how to do this mothering thing.... some people are lucky, and have a brilliant role model to pull from, others are like me, and have to look for them. And thankfully along my mothering journey of now 12 years (EEKK!!! that long!! feeling very old now....:( ) i have been blessed with people in my life that have been good models, and I have learnt a tremendous amount from them. and even then - its still bloody hard! I love my kids tremendously, deeply, truly... and have learnt more from them then anyone else in my life.
and thanks for your answer about MCN's.. now the next question is how many should I get????
Christy - i will give you a ring to talk about the MCN's... if that's ok. have you checked out that web site?
gigi - there was a suggestion with wipes that I found, which I liked - but I like you idea too... think I might give that one a go first, and see how it goes, because that is even a bigger money saver then my idea... (rubs hands together with glee)... its so funny, now that I am looking really really looking, I can seeeee soooooo many places where I can save money, without dramatically changing our lifestyle - just using what is already around us...
Tara - how are you and evie - you getting into MCN's would be brilliant idea with two little bums to cover... we can find out together... I let you know of any good suggestions I get too ok?
:hello: Nelly - I hope you didn't meet yourself coming the other way today! busy busy busy girl...
:hello: Blanche - teeth teeth teeth... monsters eh... i think the boy is teething with the cold too... sometimes I wish he could just say "mum, my mouth is sore too..."
tired today -
-
Kim - i hope u have a wonderful time away, u sure deserve it!!
Vicky -Emelia seems better today back to her happy self...we will se how long that last lol! hope Aston feels better soon
Tara - yeah ive tried the brauers teething relief, it worked for her when she was younger but now nothing really seems to help :s oh well 7 down heaps more to go!!! hows the bump?
I was thinking of using mcn for my 2..i brought one for missy (oh and her hot pink swimming nappy!!!) and ive been meaning to get more but i wish i could go to a shop and look and choose them and not have to buy them off the net..the baby store here only has the peapods, which is the one Emelia has and seems fine for her no leaks or nothing so maybe i should just go buy a heap of them!
-
I got 10 wipes with my MCN's when I bought them, so I use them heaps and only buy 1 packet of wipes a month for when we are out & about... and day care. I just use warm water and thats it.
