V - any news on Jake? I don't have my old phone or I would SMS or ring....
Hi girls am home on a break - first time on daylight since Thursday morning lol - and Darren is spending the night with Jake at the Mater. Thanks for your msgs - he was diagnosed with acute metabolic acidosis. I hope this doesn't sound rude but am kind of over explaining things so if you want to know more google it. His blood PH was 7.16 if that gives you an idea.
xxxxx
Nelly - You poor thing. This is probably the last thing you need as you're overwhelmed with hormones and emotions already. How is Jake today?
Kim - Congratulations Hun. Welcome Zachary and woohoo on the quick labour Kim.
Jols - We might go into labour at about the same time. Although I'm not going to ripen anything until closer to the date as these girls need to spend as much time in as possible. If I go into labour mid Feb I'll be 37wks. My Ob doesnt think I'll make 38wks.
Babies are on the move again. Not big kicks just lots of wriggling. They must be running out of room. Lots of pushing into the cervix and i'm praying it will hold together for another 4 weeks.
Ella is now keen on head butting my belly which just kills. I've tried to put a stop to it but i think it feels too good as the belly is kind of bouncy.
Christy - Ouch on the clots. I've been taking floradix for my iron levels - not too bad and doesnt make you constipated.

Hi all!
Well we are all home and settled back in. Jake is good loving the fact he is on a high carb / glucose diet and the doctor told him he can have lots of apple juice! Off to pharmacist tmrw to see if I can get him a high glucose drink that isn't juice but juice may be better with less additives.
I cannot say how lucky we feel with the outcome and the awesome doctors we had. Jake's case was taken over by the director of paed emergency medicine at the mater Dr Robyn Brady and she was amazing. The other doctors when we got there were obviously puzzled by his condition and the myriad of things going on / wrong and consulted her. Well that was it and she took over - as I said she was amazing and we feel so lucky to have had such an amazing doctor looking after us. Even when we were borderline going into ICU for the night she explained things thoroughly without dumbing it down and always giving us updates on what they were looking for etc. She even came up on the ward on Friday to check Jake and talk to us about his recent blood tests and how things were shaping (bloods were being done 2-4hrly Thurs Fri) and she was so real IYKWIM.
Enough for me!
Kim congrats! Wow everything happens when I go mia!
Ann your bubs sound so healthy which must be such a relief after your scare. Ella is so cute - Jake likes using my tummy as a seat both when I am carrying him or when I am lying down!
Christy who is your acupuncturist - I have a friend who has a 8cm fibroid and is looking at alternative medicine.
oh Nelly it all must be so confusing, especially if they aren't sure if there is a cause or what the cause is.
My acupuncturist is Jasmine Paris at the Pinpoint Health Clinic in Cannon Hill.... 3348 9298 (I still have the number memorised!!!!) Tell her I recommended her ;) She actually lent us her cot for her children for Jovie. AND she has our chickens. That is how much I love her!!!!
OMG nelly hoe scary for you guys  glad to hear that jake is on the mend, so is this diet permanent? or just a temp. thing.?? i did google but it was quiet confusing!!
ann we may end up with bubs very close!! youve done sooooo well to carry thus far, i really hope you get to 38 weeks!!!
It's ok I can explain it now I have relaxed my hackles now that he is safe at home - I was feeling like all of these people were just wanting the gorey details of a car crash IYKWIM...
SO basically what has happened is in the past 3 weeks he has had a couple of bugs, plus they think an underlying glandular fever - related virus, poss CMV, and his little body has switched into starvation mode bcos he was constantly sick and not eating what he usually did. This meant that his body was using his good fat stores and his muscles to keep going. This process creates acid as it happen. In a normal person big or small this isn't usually an issue bcos when you are sick you usually keep your fluids up and that flushes it out plus when you are well your body reverts to normal. Unfortunately Jake got a gastro virus on top of it all last week and this completely dehydrated his body thus an acid overload and all of his systems were shutting down. Still not sure if there is an underlying metabolic problem we have more tests to do in a week or so.
The diet is basically until he has put back on the 1.6kg he has lost in the 3 weeks which may take us up to when our next paed appt is in 8 weeks.
So it may just be the fact that his body just has never fully recovered from all of his bugs and we just need to get him back to top condition or there may be something further. In the meantime he is out of daycare at least for 8 weeks then we will prob look at family daycare so there is less exposure to less people. Not sure what that will mean for me at work and us $$ - I think I will need to hand back my car but will sort that out this week - but you really get just how secondary that is when your kids are gravely ill IYKWIM.
awwwww nelly  such a tough thing to see your baby boy go through as well. hopefully tupperwear can see the work you put in a help you guys out a little, after all they are a huge company and should see that family comes first.
hope your looking after yourself too.
Nelly - sounds like your in a better (mental) state. You are so lucky to get such a fabulous GP to take your case.
Ann
wow it's quiet in here!
im here!!!
having back and bum cheek pain  not that you wanted ot know that!!
hows jake? how are you?
Im here....just been a lil busy!
Zach is going well....he is now 35g off birth weight. Im BF, EBM and FF....so he is getting a good variety :)
Ive done his story up too: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ml#post1616717
Chelsea is like his 2nd mum, helps with nappy changes (BTW....why didnt anyone tell me boys were HARD to clean when they have done poo!!), she always says Zach hungry or Zach tired. Such a good helper. Always wants to kiss him as well.
Her sleep has been a bit unsettled and she is acting up a little bit.
Jasmine is lovng Zachery too....a bit rough but sher is geting used to him.
AFM...yeah im going well this time! So far so good with the PND being kept under control and im sleeping fairly well. Stitches are going good, not giving me any trouble.
Hi to everyone else...i hope things are well :)
that sounds great kim so the third really is the easy one - well that's what my gf keeps telling me!
Jols we are good. Now back to a ft SAHM which is going ok. I didn't have much positive support or joy from my director at work so we (DH and I) have decided for me to step down as of Feb. We have put Jake on a waiting list for family daycare to start mid to late march one day per week and see how he goes. More blood tests for him next week which I am sure he will love but otherwise all good. I have to say now that we have made this decision I feel so much better and have pulled my finger out following up all of my outstanding customer issues. It's like a fog cloud has lifted off my shoulders. I'm not kidding myself it will be easy, and I am still doing to continue to demonstrate to earn some $ just not have the pressure of being a manager, but I am glad I will now have some unencumbered time with Jake before the baby comes.
 Nelly that sucks that she can't be more supportive. But enjoy your time with Jake.
Kim, my goodness what a wonderful birth story! :D I'm happy for you.
I'm having a hard time with my mum, don't want to post too much as she apparently checks BB for details
Ouch on Ella headbutting the twins Anna, you poor thing!
Nelly, i'm so glad you got a good doctor for Jake, he obviously is a big fan of apple juice.
Christy - :kissing:
Vicky - you ok hon?
Kim - i just read your amazing birthing story today and your thread about ups and downs of bf-ing Zach - i cannot imagine how you cope with all of this, with a newborn and two toddlers! Chelsea sounds very cute in her junior mum role.
i changed the pooey nappy of my frien'ds nb in hospy, and i actually found the boy bits EASIER to clean up, no crevices for poo to get down. i was forever worrying about poo in bilby's bits when she was nb. scared i wasn't cleaning her well enough, not wanting to hurt her. in comparision, having to clean poo, all externally, felt so much easier (to me). i would love to have a boy!
i am attemtping to TT bilbs - it's not going so well.
and she is too small for size 2/3 knickers at all the normal shops. kmart big w etc.
she is now in a single bed, surrounded by lots of pillows
still without somewhere to move too, so still here until i find something else. hoping to get a bond sorted this week. but it means asking dh for our current lease, and he's goign to want to know why i want it - i'm dreading that bit.
Gees we are quiet aren't we? I'm still processing everything that is happening here. I'm actually on BB alot, just don't have too much to say.
Im finding it hard to get time to post....and when i do post its my BF problems..LOL
Not much happening in our little world....just taking it a day at a time....step by step. Adjusting with a NB is different...i forgot how things change!
Gigi thank you soooo much for the emails you have sent today.....you have inspired me to hang on just a bit longer....im not ready to quit so it seems....so thanks :)
