hi Taralee, Chino eight months old already - wow! is he crawling?

Us: bilby is day trained, and 50% night trained (i think). My (car) boot is set up as "potty central", so wherever we are, bilby can go, when she needs to. i also have a portable potty (potette that folds up) in my bag, so if we are a long way from the car, or any loos, it's ok.
Dropping her off at childcare is finally becoming less of a thing. She's not crying as i leave, or requesting a feed.
our only training drama really is her instance to bend down and look at what is coming out of her body, she is precariously balanced, on a big step, and the head is the heaviest part of the body, so the obvious happens, and she keeps hitting her head on the door edge - even when being supervised! so my biggest struggle is to keep repeating "look up! Up, up". It's so weird not washing nappies anymore, i miss her cute cloth nappies! Now she has stripey cloth trainers, that she thinks look like tigers, another word she can't say, so they have become "RAH!" knickers, or "MORE RAH!".
the fixation on STARS (dah), and MONKEYS (ooh ahh's) and catergorising everything as Daddy, Mummy or babby. e.g she's in the bath, we're drawing on the bath tub with bath crayons, stars, and at very high volume, she identifies each star as "babby star" - followed by long intense gaze, "Mummy star" - long gaze, "Daddy star" - long gaze"
Her new phrases are:
"no eat" (oh great, just what i need to hear from the hardly eating child)
"eat cake" (yes, i have issues with that one, like Guilt with a capital G!!).
bip" (bib)
boof (boot)
dit (sit)
we went to a 3rd birthday party a fortnight ago, and she had chocolate for the first time (choc birthday cake).
but i have discovered 100's and 1,000's that are coloured using natural colours and no preservatives, so - swings and roundabouts.
started taking her to swimming lessons AT LAST. bilby will do ANYTHING not to get her face or hair wet. hmmm. in a pool. with lots of water. hmmm. there is SOME kicking action, but only if head is WELL out of the water.
so there you go Taralee, i have raved on sufficiently, to make up i hope, for my lack of recent posts. we have no grandparents or rellies to tell all this stuff to, so you have copped it. (dh's mum has pulled thru {didn't die, as we were told to expect}, is in a nursing home now, but still very frail).

I was just thinking about you this morning Gigi! I love hearing your stories and i think you should be super proud of yourself. TT is a big milestone and you're obviously doing all the right things for bilby to be so settled at kindy as well. BIG hugs to you xx
Oh sorry, yes, Chichi is crawling and has decided its fun to walk along holding furniture and climbing up onto the couch. what a monkey! i'm going to have my hands full with this one!

hi all. sorry I havent been about... not in a good place at the moment.
aston is ambivelent about TT - and at the moment with so much else going on, I'm not too fussed about it. He is speaking more and more - and is quite a parrot. He has learnt to whinge like the best of them, and could get an oscar for the whole loose the bones-in-my-legs-collapse-tantrum-throw. Its hard not to laugh actually. So he is right on track, testing boundaries left right and centre.

we decided to get rid of the dummy today. well, shes been like a crack addict. up since 630am, its now 8pm and she just gone to sleep. screamed all day for it :( i feel terrible but i dont want to give in now. please please tell me its going to get easier and she'll be back to her normal self
i thought we;d try hanging her dummies in a bag on a tree and then there'd be a present waiting for her when she woke up from her sleep, so theyre still out there hanging on a tree so i'll give her a present in the morning

tara when we got rid of the thumb sophie cried for a few days but we persisted took ariund 3 weeks before we could stop taping her thumb but she hasnt sucked it since!! it will get easier i promise!
millie slept 10 hours last night, fed then went back for 3.5 more :o lets hope that continues

evie was up for 2.5hrs crying last night, but excited to get her present this morning and hasnt asked for it all day, will see how we go tonight!!

super! 3 little wakeups in the night asking for her dummy but they were kind of half-hearted, so definately easier!!

oh you girls are soooo brave with the dummy removal. Matilda gave hers to Santa when she was 3.... Jovie may have to do the same. Jovie weaned herself off bottles and only has 1 every few days or so now.
Matilda's been having meltdowns lately.... so I've been scarce. Jovie's been attempting to copy Matilda's behaviour and its made DH & I slightly mad... loony... crazy.... sooner or later we will regroup and start again.

sounds good so far
but,
- has been and still is a terrible eater,
- sleep is JUST beginning to get a bit better, and
- her speech is very delayed
- I suspect some of her motor skills are delayed too, i keep hearing how other kids her age dress themselves.
- She has JUST learnt how to put her sandals on! let alone clothing.
and her breastfeeding at 29 months old, well that could be a plus or a minus, depends on your POV, (most people seem to disapprove, like i'm giving her class A drugs or something) we consider it a blessing. With her hitting her head on the loo door, keeps falling off toilet seat!! as often as she is doing that, i think i would have gone thru a couple of bottles of panadol by now, if i didn't have the option of soothing her with a breastfeed. she asks for that as soon as she hurts herself.
bilby is still quite unaffectionate, so her cuddling up to have a feed, is the only bonding time we have. another bonus.
Vicky - i would be delaying TT-ing too, i think it's a very specific time in a child's life, and not something to be doing - concurrent with so much going on with his daddy right now. You have other fish to fry right now darling.
Christy - sorry to hear things are so hectic for you.
Ann - how are you going with your lovely twins and Ella?
Kim - any news on your mum's condition?

out of four days, we managed to get out of the house twice out of four days.
one day, late afternoon, playground
one day, early afternoon, playgrounds and bike riding.
my facebook photos prolly give the impression she is always at playgrounds, but when we ARE there, i am so relieved, she is doing normal stuff, so i take a gazillion pics. when other kids just do that everyday i guess, but in their own backyard.
and she loved her Easter pressie = a story book (Miss Bilby, by Colin Thiele).
*cough* i have already finished my entire box of choc seashells *cough* but they were very nice!

gigi we have decided to leave tt until after baby now - my plan was to have all done by the time bub arrived but that's not going to happen and really I am not fussed anyway. As for dressing themselves - don't worry Jake puts his shoes on too (usually wrong feet) and has tried to put his shorts on a couple of times but I would never say he could dress himself.
We had a lovely Easter and finally got the nursery set up but I now have a really bad cold. Pelvis is killing me and clicks or cracks everytime I roll over in bed or sit up, or twist funny. Of course it is 4am and I am awake .... bubs isn't turning .. blah bllah

nelly i hear you on the pelvic pain, i had that too, ouch! id leave TT too if i were you, not worth doing it right now! glad the nursery is set up!
sophie has finally taken to TT better, we were having to remind her all day to go, she wouldnt then wee 2 mins later, she sudde\nly got lazy, so i turned the onus on to her to go, got another stool for the toilet left the door open and now either remind her to go and she takes herslf to the loo or she just goes herself :o so proud, her nappy was even dry yesterday morning, wasnt this morning though!

Hi Everyone
When Zander was 18mths old and in bed one night I collected up all the dummies and threw them away..he never looked back. He also weaned himself off the bottle around the same time...would throw the bottle away when you gave it to him.
We are slowly progressing with the toilet training..he wears his undies around the house..will go to the toilet to do his "brown ones" as he calls them..but will just pee wherever he is and then take off his undies and not say anything...not sure why he goes to toilet for 2s but not 1s???. He wears a nappy in the car and to bed...I want him toilet trained before bub arrives in about 4 and a half months...dont want 3 in nappies.
Wyatt is 15mnths and totally dependant on his dummy to the point if he sees one and is eating he will throw his food away for the dummy and scream and cry if you take it off him....I know its going to be harder with him to get rid of it. Wyatt has never used a bottle.
I have my morphology scan on thursday..so hopefully everything is ok and we will get to see our new little boy?????????? Im excited but nervous.
Hope everyone is doing ok and life isnt getting you down to much....sometimes its just not fair.

Gigi you should be so proud, and your BUT things that you listed could just be put down to "typical" toddler things! focus on the positives i say!

Nicola - good luck with your scan! (i know i'll forget on thursday). Funny how kids can be so different hey? evie loved her dummy and was the same as Wyatt by the sounds of it. Chino on the other hand wanted no part of the dummy. hated it!! (which i cursed at the time but am now so so glad)!
we are now dummy free!! last night she told me to 'get out mama!!' of her bedroom at bedtime and she put herself to sleep. so, obviously, i've decided to pack my bags and leave too since i am no longer needed hahahaha

Good luck with getting Z to pee in the loo. Does he like stickers? the WeeMan and the table tennis ball idea also spring to mind (tricks to help tt-ing boys that i see online).

Gigi - morphology is the technical term for the 18-22wk ultrasound..I just use that term because I dont know what else to call it
Im excited and nervous about it.....will be back tomorrow to let you know how it went
