welcome back VICKY!!!!!! glad allwne well with the inlaws!!!! aston muct be the same as sophie, off everywhere, i found her under the kitchen table the opther day, she just rolls and rolls!!!
ANN sophie does the same sticks my finger down the back of gums, but no teeth at all for us
lol AJP - does she get "stuck". Aston does. He hasn't quite figured out yet that all he has to do is roll the other way to unstick himself. He has a lovely time playing with laura and nathan. they lay down on the floor, and he rolls his way over to them.
Aston's gums are really hard at the back too Ann - which surprised me - those teeth come up last! but obviously move up into the gums now - he is so fussing about at the breast, if its not his mouth hurting, there is something REALLY interesting to look at!! makes feeding very interesting. have to move away from everyone now when I 'm feeding him, or he is off and on to add his two bits worth!
I started giving him food this week too. We were out last week, and he grabbed some food out of DH hand and wasn't giving it back in a hurry, so I thought that was a pretty good indicator that he wants to EAT! he has been fine with it. only rice cereal at this stage. I had forgotten how much fun carrying around food is!! NOT! breastfeeding is sooooooooooo much easier. it spoils you - so that when you do have to start carting stuff around it takes you a while to get your head around it.
Hi girls,
Welcome Iberru - don't get to worried regarding "milestones". Each baby is an individual and will do things in their own time. Logan does love his feet although not putting them in is mouth since he bit himself.. LOL!! Logan starting rolling at 3mths but then stopped and only does it very occasionally now. Guess I should be thankful he will still be where I put him (for the time being)
Tara - How's Evie's cold? Its horrible when they are all snuffly - very hard for them to feed and sleep
Kim - You poor darl with that horrible hospital visit. I would have been beside myself and demanding an u/s straight away!!
Blanchie - Hope you have better luck with the panadol. How is Emelia's arm BTW?
Vicky - Have fun In Noosa. At least try and enjoy the sun and time away.
Not much news to tell here. Still contemplating starting solids. Will get to it in the next couple of weeks but is just another thing to squeeze into the day!
Sleeping is up and down still. Last night he was up from about 3am-5am. Cheeky devil was fairly happy for a lot of that time - chatting to himself until he realised he was bored, tired and without dummy. I gave in and brouht him into bed with us around 4.30am just to try and get some sleep. Little Monkey wouldn't stop giggling!! DH and I couldn't help but laugh back
lol meredith at the giggling...sometimes when aston wakes around 4, 4.30 I will go into him, and he is WIDE awake, and the arms start going and chatting starts. I try not to look at him, give him a feed with out conversing, and hope with fingers crossed that he will go back to sleep! if DH goes in, he can't help himself and will talk to him. well thats it then, in he comes to our bed, where he strokes both our faces, and has a chat til he realises that noone is answering, and eventually falls back asleep
Ann- Best $50 i have ever spent on that Airwrap!!! Love it and so does chels... she plays beek-a-boo over it...lol
Vicky-WB hun! An airwrap is similar to a bummer all round the cot, stops summies, arms and legs...and best of all its able to be breathed thru....SIDS recommemded i beleive. Google Airwrap in aust... and they have a site....well worth getting one. And chels has less head knocks now cos its semi padded!!!
Ann- i havent had much luck with the gummy teether but a friend of mine has, evie seems to be content with chewing on a wet washer at the moment so maybe when her teeth are well and truly on the way then she might use it more. LOL at the "emotional poo"
Vicky - i always noticed my cramps were a lot worse when using tampons but for some reason thought i just had to deal with or i was just overreacting or something, but good to know someone else noticed it too! Enjoy your 'alone' time!
Meredith - Logan sounds just like Evie - being up around 3-5. it seems that way every night and even though i make sure she's not cold/hungry or whatever, shes always up at that time! maybe its a developmental thing?
Oh i try to do personals and get so mixed up and self-absorbed! so sorry girls!
BTW yes they're ears on top of Evie's hoodie in pic :)
Kim - thanks for that info! I have been at a loss as to what to do with Aston, as he has been rolling around in the cot, and getting his legs stuck in the bars, even in the grobag! I will definately be looking out for that one!
don't apologise Tara - i think this is the only place that you can be self absorbed and not get hassled for it! so go right ahead!
Meredith - Emelia's arm is going really good she uses it alot now, still is not 100% normal because she can't lift it over her head when sitting up (to do with gravity) but if u looked at her u wouldnt know anything was wrong..we go back to docs again next month he said she may need shoulder surgery later on down the track, like when shes 2-3 because sometimes bubs with Brachial Plexus injuries can dislocate there shoulder easy. i still do physio on her arm everyday..getting alot harder now that she can roll off!!!
Sorry for being nosey Blanche but what happened to Emelia's arm?
Dont be sorry, when Emelia was born her shoulders got stuck cos she was a big bub, when they did the epsiotomy(SP) they got her out (as DP says they ripped her out) and it had damaged the brachial plexus nerve which left her arm paralysed, she could move her fingers. i have to do exercises everyday and they help, some bubs with this never get much movement back others get all movement back. i cant help but blame myself for this happening if she didnt get stuck it wouldnt have happened. DP blames the midwife that pulled her put cos he was watching it and says she ripped her out. but in the end it happend and we are very lucky she is healthy :D u can look up brachial plexus palsy or erbs palsy and it will explain abit better (only if u wanted too!)
i'm really interested in this, so how did the episiotomy damage her arm? isnt that when they cut you?
i'll go look it up now
Hello girls :)
Vicky good to hear you had a good time with IL's.
Welcome iburra!
I'm reading everyone, but sorry for not answering everyone personally ;) I'm sure you all understand.
Jovie is doing the 3-5am waking and its driving me mental. She's up and feeds and starts to fall back asleep but then sits there and chats away happily. If she's in bed with us she will play with our faces and giggle... then if we put her in the cot she gets cranky and complains. So far she's only gone back to sleep for an hour & its happened the last 5 mornings :( I'm a tired mummy!!! She also doesn't want to nap again... gggrrrrr I told her just now that I wanted to have a sleep so she's better & she laughed
I got spoiled yesterday, will try in the next few days to do a new avatar to have my new hairdo ;) I love it!
Tara - sorry i should have worded it abit better, they had to do the episotomy on me! to get her out.
christy that's so weird that all these babies are doing the same thing! evie plays with my face when i put her in bed with me too and i just lurve being woken up by an eye gouge and a giggle!!
Blanche - sorry, i did know you meant the episiotomy was on you but i thought you meant Emelia attained her injury from them cutting you. after reading all about it i think i know what you meant now - because they had to cut you and pull her out - thats when her arm was "damaged" (sorry is that the right word)...or affected...
Yeah because they pulled her out with so much force her nerves were damaged :( it just hurts me to think this could have been prevented in alot of ways but thats another lonnnng story!
I really feel for you and Emelia, i'm sorry that something like that happened and i wish i could do something for you.
Thanks Tara, i wish it didnt happen but at the same time ive very greatful we got such a wonderful healthy baby :D i have been talking to a lady on BB & her daughter has erbs palsy too she lives in perth so not far from me and we are going to meet up soon she is organising a picnic or something so we can meet with other parents with children with it. should be good
Great idea Blanche, meeting up. A week after I had Jovie I woke up with heaps of pain in my left shoulder and I couldn't move it. I went to the ER and was told I had tendenitis, and then I went to a physio who said I damaged a tendon because when I went to sleep on my arm, I stretched the tendon and because of all the relaxin in my body after birth I would have dislocated my shoulder & pinched the nerve, then it stayed that way for so long I damaged the nerve. With all my physio and work I have full movement back into my arm now, but I can't do certain things, like I can't lift a full jug with my left arm & pour... still. Its terrible but at least I have use of my arm now which is good.
Ooouch Christy - that must have been a bit scary. Do the think you will regain full function eventually?
Thats a great idea Blanche. i grew up in perth actually..not that thats really relevant! It'd be good to have a support network close by, especially if someone finds a dr or specialist thats helpful then you can all trundle along!
Evie's just not getting any better, it actually sounds like she has a chest infection so we're off to the doctor this morning. I'm really unsure about her going on antibiotics, if it's the only option then thats ok but i hope the dr doesnt just give her them as a matter of course. she's been coughing so hard that she throws up everywhere and her eyes are bugging out of her head, poor darling. she just needs a good bowl of chicken soup :(
Has anyone else's bub had to go on antibiotics? what do you guys think of them as a treatment for babies?
Ouch Christy that must have been very painful.
Tara - Poor Evie, Emelia went on antibiotics when she was 2 weeks old for little pimple looking spots she had behind her legs and pretty much all in her nicks and crannys! they were pussy..my doctor gave 2 options either pop all the pimple things (cant remember wat he called it) and see if that helps or go on antibiotics,i chose #2! so i asked wat she would be going on and got alot of info about it from him. i only had to use it for 2 days as doc said use it until the spots go away. it worked very well.
BTW Tara i forgot to say its really good cos we already all go to the same specialist for our bubs arms at PMH :D its amazing how many bubs are affected by it:(
Blanche - i find it incredible that so many are affected by it! it's not good enough as far as i'm concerned, i'm sure the midwives/nurses dont do it on purpose but it just seems to be so careless..i dont know, i find it very frustrating!!
Evie's doctor was reluctant to give her antibiotics (thank goodness). he said she most likely just has a virus so she's on some dimetapp (which i mixed with ebm and she took that fine - not the panadol palava). poor baby lets home she gets better soon!
TARA i feel your pain!! sophie woke this morning witha temp of 37.5 that rose to 38.5 so off to dr we went, ears are pink and throat is RED, poor bubba :( so of course she doent want to feed, i'm expressing like mad!! she gave up AB's but to hold off til sunday in case it's a virus, i too dont want her on ab's if it can be helped!!
AJP -evie went off food a bit too but i didnt want to express in case she wanted a feed and then i wouldnt have anything and i was worried she'd be too hungry to wait for me to warm up a bottle. whats worse was when she coughed she coughed so hard she threw up everything in her tummy and then i had nothing for her! but she was happy to suck for comfort. her feeding actually started picking up this evening, thank goodness. evies throat was quite red too and she's quite hoarse so i have to listen extra hard for her crying!
it's so hard isnt it!! hard seeing them sick. you know that it only takes 20 mins to replenish the boob after feed or expressing?????
how did i not know that?!?!?!?!!??! well she had a HUGE feed tonight so hopefully we're back on track!
dont worry theres soooo much to learn/know as a parent isnt there!!!!!!!!
boobs are never '"totally empty" they just keep replenishing, but definatly replenished in about 20 mins!!!!!!
wow! i must say everytime i've gone to feed her there's been milk there even if she only does want a top-up. If only our boobs were see-through.....hmm....
yep see through would be great!!
well sophie slept 13.5 hours, feed and proptly threw up, the whole feed everywhere!!!!
her temp was back down, poor thing been sleeping so much, feed her again took temp which was back up again so in with the panadol much to her disgust and back to bed!!
hope everyone is well, TARA hows evie today??
i'm having a really down day today. evie's still sniffly and i really miss her, i know she's unwell but she's so grizzly and wont go to sleep, i just got so frustrated with her that i yanked the wrap and scared her so she cried, making me feel like the worst mum ever. i'm running on minimal sleep, my skin's gone to the ****s, we've got financial issues and i just overall feel like everything is so out of my control that i just cant enjoy anything at the moment. i hate sitting at home but i dont want to go out, everyone is irritating me. i dont know, im just so over it. at least the days nearly over
oh TARA sorry to hear your having a **** day, :hugs: to you. it's hard with bubs sick and grizzly, thier miserable as are you, everything else always goes bad as well or at least feels that way. are you working? releif work?, is that helping a little?
just remember your the best mummy to evie and she knows it!!!
thanks, just had a wee nap and that helped. evie woke up sniffly but smiling so that made me feel better. ive put my name down for relief but theres not always someone to look after evie...it'll work out, it always does
evies also into giving big kisses too which melts my heart..handy at a time like this
awww *hugs* Tara. Sick bubbas are not fun!!! I hope she continues on the up & up for you & tomorrow is a fantastic day.
AJP, how's Sophie? Did she pick up today for you?
Jovie's being so funny lately, she's been screeching when things aren't going her way LOL Like if I'm not feeding her food fast enough she starts screeching, and at first I was really confused until I realised she wanted the food:lol:
How's Sophie going? evie seems to be keeping her food down now at least, so hopefully sophie isnt too far off that too.
I put some music on this afternoon and was singing along (always a good pick me up) and had evie on my lap and i was making her dance and then i realised she was doing it on her own and would bop her little legs when i said 'dancing dancing'! how funny!
Thanks for the positive vibes christy - still looking forward to seeing your new look photo!
I hope Evie & Sophie are feeling better soon..poor bubs
Christy Emelia is the same with the food!! lol i get odd looks while im shopping if she drops her toy on the floor she will scream and have a tantrum until she gets it back!!
Have a great wkend everyone..im having a quite one DP has gone camping with friends, might watch a movie once bub in bed and veg out!!! sounds good
lucky u blanche! i've made dinner and evie's asleep, dh still at work.....i dont know what to do with myself!
U should relax!! I'm thinking on having a nice hot bubble bath too:D
