Hi everyone,
Olive has cut her first tooth. Such a big milestone, I can't believe she is getting so big!
She is also a roll-a-holic ATM and is waking herself up rolling over. She is asleep on her tummy now after rolling over, hope she will be ok.
Quite a few of the ladies from MG have got their bubs on solids but i'm going to wait a few weeks and probably try a week before I go back to work as i've found that i'm having to do at least one formula top up through the day as Olive is still hungry. I'm fine with this but I think she is getting ready to start solids. She will be 5mths on the 17th and is off the charts for her weight so I feel like her system will be well prepared for it.
I'm also feeling excited cause DH and I have decided to start looking for another house. We are both feeling like our house is way to small with a bub and i'm constantly chasing my tail with cleaning as there is nowhere to put anything.
Olive also has 5-6 bottles per day.
Sorry no personals
I'm happy to give Liam more feeds, but honestly, he doesn't look like he wants any more. I feed him approx 3 hours after his last feed, and that works out to be 4 feeds. Even if he wakes up early in the morning, I'll be expecting to do 5 feeds but he always sleeps longer at one stage in the day so it becomes just 4 again. He doesn't show any signs whatsoever of being hungry or I'd feed him in a heartbeat. He rarely cries, so its not like i'm ignoring a baby who's fussing from hunger. He sleeps really well, people are always commenting on how he looks like such a contented baby, and he's a seriously happy kid.... Would any of that be happening if he was always hungry???
HJ and Hollye, your girls have 5-6 feeds but they only drink like 120ml or something dont they? Liam has, like a 20min BF + 150ml formula.
I know I sound like I'm trying to defend myself but I'm just confused. If he seems to be satisfied with what he's having, and he seems to be having quite a lot at each feed, why do i need to string it out more and force feed him. That doesn't seem right to me. ...i think i'll call her back tomorrow and have a little chat with her....
Congrats Olive on your 1st tooth!!! She really seems to be thriving OM. Congrats on the decision to get another house. Good luck with the hunt.
1stbub - I think what you are doing with feeds is fine. You know your baby and whats best and seeing he has solids this also means he shouldn't need as much milk. There is another mum at MG who's bub is the same age as ours and her baby has 4-5 bottles to and isn't on solids and she's packing on the weight. You follow your gut, your a lovely, caring mummy so don't stress yourself about it. Not all babies fit the squares but as long as he's happy, growing, has lots of wet nappies it's fine.
1stbub - you dont sound like that at all - and dont worry about how much Liam is drinking - you know him better than any of us - and as long as he isnt hungry and is putting on weight nicely than that is all that matters - every bub is different!!! so dont worry about it - ur doing a great job and Liam is a happy bub!!!
OM - WOW CONGRATULATIONS OLIVE on your first toothy peg!!!!
also i wouldnt be too worried about her sleeping on her belly now if she is a roll-a-holic - she should be right - exspecially if she can hold her head up!!!
forgot to mention (and im hoping for no negative comments but we are pretty good honest group so i doubt that will happen) we have started B on solids!
she just looked sooooo ready - she sits up well, watches us eat, copies the mouth movements, grabs for our food and it just felt right - she dosent like rice cereal - but LOVES potato!!! thats all we have done so far!
Yay Olive!!! ur first toothy! send some toothy vibes this way!
Yay Bianca on starting solids think of how much washing your mum will have now!! hehehe
All good here.. waiting for it to rain.
Mia has another chiropractor appointment today at 3 so ill let u know how that goes.
1stbub - dont worry how much WE feed our bubs. We dont even know Liam so we dont know what he wants. One big mistake alot of people do is over feed FF bubs as its quite expensive so they always try and get to the last drop. So dont overfeed him and as far as the MCHN is concerned, just nod and smile and let it fly over ur head. They are all a little OTT.
well..... i smell like spew........ fun.......... going to take Mia off the GOLD formula, the omega 3 in it makes the spew smell fishy and makes me want to braf. OOOooooooOOOOooooo we swap over to big girl formula soon!!!!!
hj - ok it's my turn for sleep deprivation now. Olive went to bed at 8:15pm, was so tired but then woke at 12.30am and stayed awake until 1:45, then woke again at 4:30am. She went straight back to sleep and I put her in with me and she only slept until 7:10. She is still awake and won't drink her bottle so I don't know what's going on. It's driving me nuts, hopefully tonight is better.. Is B doing better?
Didi - im on the depo shot.. not having the next one. I dont like the idea of not having AF. Wow J is rocking.. wont be long till shes crawling!!!!!! Mia has no teeth yet. Cant really imagine her having teeth lol
Hi all been MIA again, I'm finding I'm getting super busy lately.
Hollye I lost 700g this week sorry I haven't PM'd you yet, your doing a great job with the list as usual. How did Mia go at the chiro?
HJ yay for starting B on solids, it's such a great stage of finding out the good and bad flavours of the wide world. I'm seeing Leslie on Monday so will let you know how it goes, appt is at 9am.
OM congrats on Olive getting teeth.
Julian has been doing the rolling in his sleep and then waking screaming on his gut, it's so funny, I just roll him back over. Had a really bad night with Julian, he was up and down crying all night wanting a feed every 2hrs so I feel really knackered.
OM - its horrible isnt it? B is no better - she has been like this for 2wks now!
last night for example she went to bed at 2040 woke at 0030 back to bed just after 0100 and woke again at 0300 back to bed at 0332 and back awake again at 0500 and has been awake since except for a nap in the car while we were out today!! im exhausted!
i hope Olive sleeps better for u tonight!
Amanda - Yay!!! u will love her! cant wait to hear all about it!
Didi - my AF when it returned was very light and has continued on being light! but my gosh am i getting bad period pain! never had that when i was on the pill!
B had her 4mth needles today - DH took her while i waited outside cause it broke my heart last time - and she was a gem - hardly cried - but wont drink - she did that last time!
Sorry havent been on, have had a busy week. V had her immunisation yesterday and hasnt been well with it. Was up most of the night with her, poor little bubba girl. Also ended up with yet another migraine today, so not the best of company right now.
V doesnt like the taste of Nurofen or Panadol. What a challenge getting her to have either of them without her spitting it all back out again.
Hollye - I smelt like spew last night, I was covered in it. I am also thinking of taking V off the gold formula too, she seems more constipated on it.
Didi - Ohh the joys of AF's. I am hoping soon that it isnt heavy this time, just not looking forward to it.
Ohh and finally got results from my BT's a while ago, and definately have an ANA positve blood clotting disorder, they want me to start taking aspirin everyday now.hmmmm. Not good at taking anything.
hey csab! one tip for the panadol or nurofen. When she is laying on her changetable or whereever u change her. Have it ready and grab something noisy (i use my car keys alot) and dangle them above her. Quickly squirt a little in her mouth while still dangling them. they know its in there mouth but are so concentrating on what u have the swallow without knowing. It takes some getting used to but trust me, im sure it will work. Mia is quite used to it now and i can put the whole lot in her mouth at once but she also has a homopath medicine for her reflux so shes used to me feeding her stuff with a syringe! lol
oh joy for mr rudd.. i get my money tomorrow. Picking up laybys.. buying 5 tins of formula and 2 box's of nappies, a jolly jumper, a bath seat, matts bday present (hes 24 tomorrow!), Pj's for Mia, some other ppls bday presents and if there is anything left, its going on the credit card. Once again, nothing for me lol. but it will come in very handy!
Hollye - Happy Bday for your DH tomorrow. V is the only one out of all my kids that doesnt like either of them. hehehe. I always give it to her in small amounts, less likely for anything to be spat out. The only thing is she tries to make herself spew it out. Ohh the joys. She will get used to it, might even start liking it soon like my other two DD"s. In a way I am glad she doesnt like it, as my other two think it is like a treat. lol.
Hollye - our DH's have the same birthday! Mine will be 36 though - he's so old!!!! -In numbers, not in looks or the way he acts. Good tip for the panadol/nurofen too.
Thanks everyone for your support on the feeding thing. It made me feel a lot better about the whole thing. DH said exactly the same things too. After spending the past couple days trying unsuccessfully to give more feeds I've decided to just make sure he gets all the milk he can and am giving him a little more solids. He's gonna be 5 months next week!!!! what a big boy he is!
Congrats B on starting solids! HJ, Liam seems to be unimpressed with food thats really different in texture, rather than taste, ATM. He'll gag and make a disgusting face that looks like he doesn't like the taste. But feed the same thing a few days later, or try adding a little more milk or mashing to an almost runny consistancy and he'll take it. So try B back on rice cereal in a few days. It's supposed to help them be more accepting of new tastes. Or she may just hate it, but you'll know for sure after a few goes.
csab - sorry about the clotting disorder. How long will you have to take the asprin for?
Hippiemummy - Good to hear from you!!! Glad everythings going well.
Didi - HOW do you get to the gym everyday???? One of the mums from my MG suggested taking Liam with me and keeping him in the pram while i work out. don't see why not (its a small town gym - heaps of room and not many people). He's really well behaved and easy going at this age, and if he's not, I'll just finish early and go home. So I'll give that a go this week.
My sister finished work today and is now officially on maternity leave. What a strange thing that we're both living in the same town and doing the mum thing together. Very excited about my nephew arriving soon! Anyway, between her and a girl i used to work with who's also on maternity leave, i might have some busy weeks ahead! Good times.
