Hey everyone.. Hope all the kiddies are sleeping great for all!!!
SOUNDS GOOD!!
Question...
Did you ever or do you have a soother for your child? night in the car day when?? how often?
Will you get rid of it when they are 1 or wait till they are 2??
My sister just had a baby and wanted to know as she hates her 1 month old having one and wants to know waht most do.
yeah Mia has a dummy. She used to have it all day till about 3.5 months and then when she was getting more into things and didnt cry as much. She now has it just for bed. I dont think she will be ready to give it up at 12 months for bed as it helps her to self sooth herself back to sleep when she wakes. So im thinking mayb 2? It was a god send here.. i loved it. Even when i was BFing, i used it to try and stretch out M's feeds a little and it worked well. Its all up to the mum and the baby. Its not a problem here, coz we dont see it as it stays in her cot. Its cute now coz ill go get her up from a sleep and she will take it out and give it to me.
Bianca says.....iiaoooooooldfieriohkdj;siutrgs irfkeul - thats Thanykou Hollye translated!
Didi - 1st of no one take offence to what i'm about to say! i HATE dummy's always have and always will and always said i never wanted to give one to my baby - however was in hospy after i had B and she did nothing but cry and cry and cry and no one could settle her - day 3 came and one of the midwifes said i think she is going to be a dummy baby - i bawled my eyes out BIG time as DH ran out the door to the chemist - came back with a dummy and it settled her for the 1st time! we only ever gave it too her if we couldnt settle her and of a night time! I said i wanted it gone by 12mths no matter what it took - i didnt want her to be walking around with a dummy on one of those things that tie them to bubs shirt ( i hate them). Come i think it was when B was 5mths and B was waking in the night heaps and we would have to get up and put dummy in - after many nights and many gets ups i decided thats it the dummy is going! 1 rough night was all it took and we have never looked back! Dummy GONE!!!!! and im so happy!
If ur sister has one and dosent like it - tell her not to use it - or only use it as a last resort - its when u keep popping it in their mouths all the time everyday that i think she is going to have a problem with it! Hope that helps!
Hollye - has Mia taken any more steps yet? B is standing on her own and leaning forward and thinking about it but hasnt taken anymore than 1 step yet!
nawww thanks B :) ur so cute.
nah.. max of 4 steps. tho.. she re arranges my furniture.. takes my dining chairs around the house with her to hold on to.. lol
Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well. We are going good. Olive is almost walking, taking a few steps between furniture and standing heaps. She is abit challenging atm though with her teeth and food and sleep have been a battle lately which is frustrating but understandable. It's lucky she is so damn cute!!!
didi - Congrats on Jorda walking, must be super cute. In regards to dummies, Olive has never had one and she has been fine. I don't like them and I think it helps that my mum is really anti dummy. I must say thought that most people I know do have one for their bubs, I guess it's a personal thing. Besides not liking the look of them I also think that it can be more of a hassle getting up to put the dummy back in when if they learn to self settle with their thumb or fist it never falls out on them. The hospital suggested it but I just said no and it was eventually accepted. Working in child care I have also seen how hard they can be to get rid of and the negative effect it can have on language development and tooth decay, well worth researching if you choose to use a dummy long term.
Have a great weekend everyone!!!
Out of all of my 5 kidlets only 1 used a dummy and that was only when he was teething. The rest of them just used to spit them out lol.
CW - glad Olive is taking those first steps too. I can totally understand about the challenge with teeth and sleep atm OMG please let Meara go back to sleeping all night in her own bed :(
I'm still waiting for AF to arrive so I can start pill popping. Typical isn't it, when you want them to come they don't and when you don't want them they do grrrrrrrr stupid bodies lol
Thanks ladies!! Personally and I with you HJ.. I HATE THEM AS WELL.. J had one up until mm 2-3 months ago..
If it works for some.. fantastic.. but I wanted her to self sooth herself and learn how to cope without relying on something.. as the older they get the more attached they get..
I told my sis.. she is not going to use one!!
THANK YOU
wow so quiet in here.
i have the last counselling session tomorrow and i have already started pill popping so my donor journey is on its way. Potentially starting nasal spray on the 15\9\09. Getting exciting lol
just a vent.........
M has dropped to 1 day sleep! argh!!!! i hope she picks it back up again!
tho.. she has been sleeping better overnight.. 13 hours straight lastnight.
