SAMI Yep, Byron sleeps through. He did wake at 1.30am on Saturday night but that's cause DH wrapped him before bed & didn't do it properly so Byron got out & scratched himself, so I fed him for 4 mins before he fell asleep again.
How is Zanders feeding since the Osteo? Byron fussed big time on the left this morning so I put him on the right & he fed perfectly. He must be out of alignment.
Georgi - well no big change - she did say she didn't think he had any real probs, just a little bit tight - I have learnt though that Zander bites when he has had enough, and his new trick is still having nipple in mouth, and then cooing around it  - he must think - well mummy is trying to get me to stay on, so I will, but I will tell her what I think ..... his feeding is just quick - he'll drink what he wants I spose! Zander also prefers to turn his head to the left when sleeping too - but he does sleep on the right - we all have preferences. He is having a follow-up on Friday but I don't think we will need anythign else ....
Out of the mouth of babes - my osteo has dark skin, she is African, and just lovely. So, Giselle tells her - you have brown skin - she says - do you wanna eat me? My kids look appropriately stunned - she laughs and says cos some kids call her the chocolate lady LOL. So, my kids thinking this is so very funny, yell out to her from reception - Bye chocolate lady!! with all the exuberance they can muster - few looks from ppl waiting - I thanked her for dealing with it that way - they were not being rude or disrespectful, it was just an observation that was correct! ANyway, I digress .... :)
Sami yep Julian has started to sleep thru again, I do believe that it was from the 12 week growth spurt, I think it lasted for about a week then was back to sleeping thru again and boy was I happy for that. Julian has also learnt that he can control my boob with his hand, or he will smile with my boob in his mouth, it's so cute.
Well my little man has learnt two new tricks over the weekend, yesterday he finally rolled from back to tummy and now instead of just giving a giggle, he will laugh it is so cute see them do this. He also did his first wee on me, I'd just given him a bath and he was laying on his towel on his bed and suddenly I felt something warm on my pant leg, was so happy. Then he cracked up laughing and had a little chuck, then he laughed about that and then the hiccups.
oh my, Mia has been going down at 8pm (her usual bedtime) and i feed her at 11ish and the past 2 days she has slept till like 9-10am! wow!
jack is asleep in bed usually by 10/10.30pm...sleeps til 6am :D BUT having said that i am slowly trying to get him into bed earlier...for a longer sleep... tonight he will be bathed and ready by 8.30pm and i will feed at 9..and settle him off hopefully by 9.30pm :D
weighed him this morning...6.68kgs  BIG BULL
Maya is also sleeping longer again - waking around 6-7am rather than 4am. But I still can't get her into bed before 10-10.30pm. And I find she does a second longish sleep (3-4 hours) from 7-8am till 10-11am. I'm not sure if I should try and change her routine somehow because I end up sleeping in the morning with her and I find it hard to get to any appointments in the mornings! Though I have no idea how to change her routine.
Question: Any ideas on what I could get my niece for her 1st birthday? I always buy books but wanted to get something different. The thing is my nieces have so much stuff already - toys, books, clothes, etc. And my SIL is really into looks and expensive things IYKWIM. So I really struggle to think of what to buy.

Opps.. just realised I did a double post. I was struggling to get my post through cos BB kept being unavailable. And somehow it must have gone through twice. :wall:
I can't work out if there's a way to delete one of them? :dunno:
i know, buy her some babylegs! (just google babylegs in aus). Her mum is unlikely to have those (i hope!)
oh and X's routine is all out the window since we got back - he's still a bit sick (and so am i :wall:), so I copped a 4.30am feed this morning. doh! The paed reckons it's just a virus, but don't they say that bubs on breastmilk don't get colds? Or is a virus different?
Also, does anyone know a safe way to elevate one end of a cot? can you do it and still have them be safe? My fear is that he'd be in danger if he slid to the bottom, but atm we're sleeping him in his stroller, cos he just chokes on phlegm if we put him down flat.
belfie you can buy 'stackers" for the legs of the cot from baby shops.... me...i use phone books under one end of the matress....
belfie - we have always used towels folded up at one end under the wheels - of course they need re-doing every week or so - but much cheaper. have tried a phone book like katones, but depends where you live as to how big they are!!! LOL I don't think Melbournes would suit unless you have those local directory ones.
I have always elevated my cot for bubs for the first 4 months, and it doesn't have to be elevated so much that bubs slides down  - just a little bit helps. - and b/f bubs do get colds - just that they don't get as sick as if FF cos of the antibodie business. That's why they can still turn on a big smile in amongst the snot, whilst we struggle to get up ...
Tanya - play tent if they haven't already got one - my kids have always had so much fun with them!
I am worried about tonight - Zander fed at 6.15am, 9.40am and then not until 3pm, and then 6.45 - so I am hoping he doesn't get up tonight and he still had enough in those feeds - can't tell how much he takes  We went out this morning and he had a catnap in the pram so when we got home and had a little play i put him back down hoping for an hour - and he did 2.5 hrs
SamiH - dont worry.. he would have kept feeding if he was still hungry. Even if u have to get up to him tonight thats ok coz tomorrow night u prob wont.
Hello all!!
Its all happening up here in the far north, we have been flooded in most the day. Managed to get out and get some vital supplies in the lull. DH couldn't get to work so had him at home too! I tell you the amount of rain here never ceases to amaze me, we had about the same amout of rain in a 24hr period that Canberra(where I lived before) would get in a year!!! over 300mm.
The water drinking is going pretty good, I am averaging around 2 liters a day. No real bad side effects from the new meds either which is pretty good. Headaches but hey you can't add a major drug like this and not expect something hey?
Can't offer any 1st bday suggestions sorry
Hope X feels better soon, poor little fella
Katones, left you a reply for your comment in my gallery!! Made us all laugh. DH not sure about hubba hubba's being aimed at his little princess... :D
Hi everyone else.
Ok off to get some stuff done!!
SAMI- My gosh, Byron & Zander are so similar. Byron also has started biting & cooing around my nipple. Like he teases me saying, ok I'm gonna have more... Ah ha ha, no i''m not.... Yes I am... Oh no i'm not. He's only been feeding for 8 minutes. I don't let him go for more than 4hours without a feed & I make sure I get 5 feeds in per 24 hours. So basically there is 1 feed that in only 2.5hours since the last. Byron also turns his head to the left when he sleeps. He's got a little bit of flat head on that side.
Byron has had such a sleepy day today. He woke at 6am, down at 7.30am, woke at 10am, down at 11.30, woke at 2pm, down at 3.30, woke at 5pm, down at 6pm. I will wake him at 8.30pm for his last feed. Plus he did another up the back poo. So out with the nappy san for the new jumpsuit he was wearing. He likes to christen  his new outfits.
BELFIE You can buy a cot elevation pad from Toys r us. I got one for my baby shower. I think they're only about $20
TANYA Man I so know what you mean. My sister is exactly the same. Into expensive brand names & her girls have EVERYTHING! One of my nieces turned 1 last Nov, I bought her an ID bracelet from the Jewellery shop. $40 plus $10 to engrave her name. It was sterling silver & had a little charm on it. My sister loved it. Plus it's the chain type, not bangle, so you can clip in tighter so it fits perfectly.
Hi to everyone :D
Thanks for the bday present suggestions. I'm not sure if my niece has a play tent already or not. She probably doesn't have any babylegs. So that might be an idea. I know my niece already has an ID bracelet though (she got one for Christmas).
Tonight we had two milestones:
1) My DH gave Maya a full EBM bottle feed!! At first she resisted the bottle but eventually she latched on and drank all the milk. I did have to give her a little top up before bed though because it wasn't quite enough. Also I just cannot express any milk in the evenings so I haven't been able to replace the feed she took.
2) We got her into bed by 9.30pm. :)
Tomorrow it is going to be 37 degrees here so I'm going to go hide at my mother's house in her air con. And the hour's drive there and back I'll have air con in the car.
Woo hoo on the EBM Tanya, and good luck surviving the heat tomorrow. We're just gonna hole up I think!
Re expressing, if it helps, my expressing pattern during the day (bearing in mind I'm a full-time expresser) is usually 200-390 in the morning, trailing down to ~100ml in the evening/afternoon. If I express more frequently (i.e. 2 hourly), then I get 100ml. If it's 3-4 hourly, I'd get ~150-200 ish. So I imagine expressing after feeds in the morning would be the most productive, but I'm sure there's individual variation there too. It's hard work trying to express after feeds I reckon. So well done!
As for the cot, well I've tried some yellow pages, and it looks pretty good. In retrospect, maybe my fears re sliding babies were groundless  lol! Thanks for the good suggestions.
Oh and X has taken to smiling around his bottle too - cracks me up big time.
amy_o - well done on the water drinking  sounds like you are doing really well!
I'm feeling as fat as butter today. Mind you, the horizontal stripes I'm wearing really aren't helping1  Have resolved to go off dairy on Thurs AND start eating healthier... (provided my cold has gone). There! It's in writing now, I might even do it!
Well just as I thought, I have just fed the little monkey!
Georgi - yeah I like him to take 5 b/feeds during the day, and with the next few days here gunna be like 38 degrees, I am sure he will feed more  And yes they sound very similar, I better check the next phone bill to make sure they aren't scheming together hehehe.
Belfie - fat as butter? I soooooo get that, I am feeling a bit floppier lately too, but I am waiting until school goes back as at the moment I find it too hard to gt out with the 3 of them for any more than a 500m walk to the shops.
Tanya - ow hard to buy presents when there is expectations there - just remember you are buying for the 1 year old and not their parents ;)
well done on the bottle, i havent given zander once for 6 weeks cos of no time to express on holidays and all - and hubby traveling no one else to give bottle at the moment ... oh well.
