Ethan only took 50ml... mmm so not sure what that means. will try tonight a little more
(ashley drinks the left overs so nothing is wasted hehehe).
Cathie - i have no idea what hubby and me time is.. i am actually going to see if my parents can babysit and we pop out to see marley and me on monday or tuesday.....
we went out last night PP left the kids with MIL and went to the club for dinner...
chinese/coffee afterwards with cake... made me feel like a real person again..and time alone with hubby..although we did ring twice to see how Jack was doing :)
lol my parents are only visiting for 2 days lol (they live 600km away)... i will have to be subtle lol
Well Ethan just took 120ml formula and no spew yet... fingers crossed. DH doesnt know yet
yeah I know pink try having 5 children, But I would'nt have it any other way. My choice.

must say i do miss 'us' times but wouldnt have it any other way. just waiting on the day when our kids (we're planning on 5) grow up then we can have all the 'us' times we want :D it wouldve been nice to have do alot more with DP before the baby, but even if i could, i wouldnt change it any other way
Thanks girls. I'm feeling a bit better after getting all that off my chest. Plus I had a good cry this afternoon which helped! Oh and I decided to sign up for mums and bubs yoga which starts next Tuesday! Hopefully that will be OK! And it'll give me something extra to do each week and maybe meet some other mums. :)
Yeah I miss hubby and me time too.. as well as just me time. I had a big talk to DH tonight about all of this and he took Maya out with him while he goes picks up some take away for dinner. So now I feel like I'm having some me time. :)
As for us time, we'd need someone to babysit to have that! And even though Maya now drinks from a bottle she won't always take it and also she's afraid of everyone cos she never sees anyone!

OMG HE ROLLED OVER! He was having a super chat in his cot this arvo... then started shrieking more than chatting... he'd flipped onto his tummy!!!!!!
And then he had a huge laughing session... well more of a snort-laugh-giggle-snort laugh. It was hilarious!!!!

Mad day here, I went and drove past 4 houses to decided which ones we want to arrange to see inside off. What a ridiculas system, you have to drive past then contact again to see inside then apply. Grrrr. Anyway we also got the call that our protraits were ready to pick up, they are gorgeous!!!!! When I find the gallary I will post them for you, but she isn't a happy baby, she has a fistula (sp??) on her bot bot so every wee and poo comes with screams of pain :( Had her checked out today, it should heal up with stacks of Sudocream they said.

Well I am just foul ....
I have spent the last 30 mins trying to express - I waited an hour after his feed - too many things to juggle to express one side whilst he fed off the other this morning with DH away - nothing - had a shower, tried again, nothing - I mean I got the 30mls of foremilk but I couldn't get a let down after all that time, so now I am just majorly psd off cos I know the milk is just sitting there - I am expressing cos I have a hairdressers appt tomorrow morning. Sore nipples, and cranky as buggery now. I need to get out by myself tomorrow morning to buy Riley's birthday present too - his birthday on 01/02 - and I need some new swimmers for the beach next week.
Any ideas where nice bathers are at the moment, bit late in the season I know .....
I cant believe how cranky I am - maybe AF is thinking of coming back too - well that would just top my day right off!!!

PP - Z woke - instead of resettling him I got himup, put him on - and got 110 in about 3 mins flat - poor bugger LOL. ANyway, I will try again later - pump on one side, him on the other - I just wanna get another 50mls in case he decides to have a good feed when I am out ... I just couldn't get a let down no matter how hard I tried - think my pump is about to give up the ghost too - ....

PP - congrats to you :clap::clap: it's such a hard decision, but I agree with Hollye that you'd hate to regret it later. I know that with our BF'ing difficulties, I've always felt glad I could try BF'ing again if I wanted, leaving the door open with expressing is good like that. And while every attempt to BF is still a disaster for us, at least the chance is there.
Amy_O - love the family pics!! Just gorgeous. We need to get some... soon... soon.
Tanya - gosh your post made me think! I think it's great you got it all off your chest - that's what BB is for after all! I guess I think the whole issue of enjoyment is an interesting one. I think it's really easy to feel when you're pregnant that this little person will love you because they're IN you! How can you not "get" them when you grem them? Whereas the reality is they come out (with no manual!) and sometimes it's incredibly difficult to work out what they want, what they enjoy and I think a lot of women feel they should just "know" this automatically. I've also had times where I've wondered what to do with him, or not really felt like playing (kinda like I know I'm taking the easy out, or rushign play time a bit)... but then I have to remind myself that I'm not a bad mum for doing that... it's just life really. Sometimes you want to play heaps, sometimes you don't.
Things we tend to do... tummy time, rocker time, mummy singing silly songs (nearly all the time!), lying on a mat while mummy coos, goos & waves toys at us (gotta be in the right mood for that), going for a walk, going to shops etc. Also, I know you've said Maya screams with other people, I'm just curious as to what you do? You may not mean to do it, but you might be hovering and looking worried (which would be quite normal given what's been happening!)... when others are holding X, I tend to dance around like a goof, smiling & talking to him and giving him big messages that it's ok. Sorry if I'm telling you how to suck eggs, but just a thought maybe to try and get her more comfortable with others?

tanya- i talk alot to dragon, its like talking to thin air. but im used to talking to inanimate objects so its not that much harder :p i put him in his bouncer near me while i do things like cook or hang washing n he seems content with being near. if u havent already, they're not a bad investment (ard $30 when on sale). i think she has trouble settling? have u tried puttin her in a sling? it might b worth a try if u havent already. sometimes i really want him to play with me, but no matter what i try all he does is gimme laughs without sounds.
but then again, i really dont want him to grow too quik
ive booked our tickets both to adel & to HK yesterday. it looks like we come back to melb on mon arvo & flying out sat morning. all in a weeks times!!
well the past 2 mornings i have had a little boy awake at 2.30/3.30am..not grizzling..just fidgeting..so in my bed he came :D just so i could get some sleep!!!! and as soon as i put him in with me he would fidget abit then off to sleep...but to awake fidgeting AGAIN!!!! i'm thinking he is HOT?? he sweats quiet abit....
so we're sitting there yesterday and DH is feeding X. DH says "well you're nearly 4 months old now, so I think we need to start thinking...

LOL Belfie...hubby has it all worked out for Jack aswell :D he had it all worked out when he saw Jack in U/S piccies....and had a definate reply when he was born and he saw Jacks long legs...
he is going to do karate/kick-boxing & play rugby union....hubby used to do karate/teach karate & did kick-boxing and hubby loves rugby union.

Wow you girls can really talk, not much going on here, have got all the boys school stuff and just have to put contact on the books.
On the subject of work, I've been a SAHM for the last 8yrs, I'm actaully planning on studing to be a doula this year.
Better go boy needs me, hopefully I'll be able to post more regularly as of next week.

Sami -Yep I think that's what I struggle with. The fact that I am always 'switched on'. Even when Maya is down for a nap I feel switched on because she could wake at any moment or I use the time to run around and get stuff done! I don't know when I can go back to work though. I really want to BF for as long as I can. Also my work replaced me for the year because I said I wouldn't be back till Jan 2010.:
the mental drain of being "switched on" all the time is enormous - that's why I too love going to work - I get to think about me, me, me - can go to the toilet by myself, drink a coffee whilst it's hot and say the bad word for poo if I want

belfie - That's great that X is rolling. :) And I love your DH's comment on what sport to play. :lol: And yeah I think sometimes I just don't feel like playing. But also sometimes I honestly don't know how to play with a baby! I feel like it's all so repetitive. I think I'll be great when she's older! I love playing and I work with teens so I've got that covered too. :lol: I just feel so clueless with a baby! But also I feel like I need more social interaction. My entire week is just me and her and I just feel like I can't keep talking about nothing with someone who doesn't talk back! It was fine at the start but now it's just so hard to think of what to say!? Or what new things I could do?! As for Maya screaming with other people you are probably right. I probably do hover a bit and am anxious. But I'm anxious about the fact that as soon as she cries all I hear about is her 'wind problem'. arghhhhh it drives me crazy! Also as soon as she cries people hand her back straight away without even trying to comfort her. And also I wonder if part of the problem is that all she sees is DH and I - really just me mostly. No one visits and I find it hard to visit other people. So she rarely sees other people. I do go to mothers group - but that's only once a week for an hour. Anyway, I think part of my enjoyment issue is really that I feel alone and with no support. I'd even love to have another older child around to talk to!! :)
teru - Yep I have a sling and I do use it when I go out. But at home I prefer to be able to put Maya to bed, otherwise it's hard to have me time. I know my hands are free with a sling, but I'm still carrying her around with me if she's in it. I do have a rocker and I do put her in it when hanging the washing, cooking, etc. But I don't always talk to her the whole time and sometimes wonder if I should be talking to her more?!

Well.. I think I finally worked out something this afternoon. My feelings only really hit me this year. And I realised that Maya now feeds very quickly, whereas before feeds took ages! So before I was feeding for a very long time and then doing a little play. Now I am feeding for a very short time and have to fill in a longer amount of time in play. And for some reason I find it hard to fill in longer time with play cos I struggle to think of things to do. And also when I was feeding longer I could put my feet up and read or watch TV or jump on the puter. Now I have less time for myself cos there's more time I have to entertain Maya for. So I guess it's both having to think of what to do with her and having less time for myself. I think I just need to adjust to this new phase.
ohhh.. but my DH's work is making everyone take a 10% pay cut and in return giving them a day off a fortnight - starting in Feb. So I'll have him home an extra day a fortnight for a while. That'll be nice. :)

tanya- i 'sound' busy but i struggle to manage everything. DP's a panelbeater and its lucky that he can work whenever he wants plus he works at home too so he helps if i really need. there's no such thing as housework here, i cook/clean the kitchen, do the laundry & look after the lil one. when he starts crawling then i'll have to clean the house, not looking forward to cleaning a 2-storey house plus i hate vaccuuming it hurts! LOL tbh i really shouldve got at least 1 subject out of the way for exams but as u can tell im too busy on the comp hehe. its definitely more interesting than my books :rofl:

I have a NOT soo happy teething boy on my hands!!!!! Just given him Nurofen... and changed his shirt for the 4th time today....Poor little man..nothing is making him happy.. and today he has only slept 3 and abit hours :(
KATONES It must be something in the air. BJ is slobbering bad, & will only sleep 30 minute stints today. He's not happy. I've just put the air con on in his room hoping that he'll sleep for longer. We'll see
TANYA I thought I'd share my routine with you. This is what I learnt from Possum Cottage (a day stay for settling babies). You might pick up something you may like to do with Maya. Our routine goes like this (it doesn't always go to plan but it gives me structure & a plan to work towards)
15mins wake - feed
20mins In bouncer looking at nature in the backyard allowing food digestion
10mins In bouncer with toys
5mins Nappy change
10-15mins Cuddle time - singing, reading books, or taking a short stroll even if just in back or front yard
20 mins Aerobics =
5min Tummy time dangle toys in front,
Approx 10min Arms in & out x 8
Legs in & out x 8 (singing the alphabet song)
Opposite arm to foot x 8 each side (singing bend & stretch)
Bycicles (singing wheels on the bus, people on the bus)
(REPEAT)
1-2min Sit ups x 8 (support head & neck, hold legs down)
3-5min Rolling across mat or towel (Place baby on tummy, tuck arm in & roll over to back, lift arm above head & roll onto tummy)
5-10mins Cuddle time with mum or dad
10mins In bouncer with toys
10mins Nature time in bouncer
SLEEP
I find I have plenty of me time this way. BJ loves his nature time. Initially I felt bad that he was sitting in this chair all alone staring out the window, but now I realise he actually enjoys it. He looks at the trees & sits in silence, most of the time. As I said it doesn't always go to plan but when it doesn't I just try to start the cycle again either with a sleep or a feed. Hope i've helped even if just a little. ;)

DD has had a fever since tuesday - tonight the rash is starting... i am thinkingit may be chickenpox.

teru - I don't do much housework either! I feel like it's hard enough just looking after Maya. So you're doing well to study on top of looking after a baby!
georgi - Thanks so much for sharing your routine. I actually already use your aerobics routine every day cos you shared that one a while ago. I'm not sure about the nature time in a rocker because we don't have any windows that look out to anything plus she gets bored in her rocker if left alone for too long. I really like the routine though. Maybe I can try some of it. Do you follow it for every awake time? I assume you must do other things sometimes. I've thought about doing a day stay somewhere but people that have gone have said it's been a waste of time cos they focus more on issues like breast feeding but that routine you were given sounds very useful. Now I wonder if it's worth me attending somewhere but I don't know where.
PP - :hug: I hope everything is ok.
TANYA I don't think anywhere you go would be a waste of time. Even if you pick up a few things. I mean, you'll only be home anyway. Tweddle : Day Stay Program I'm not sure if these locations are anywhere near you but I guess you can ring them & see if they know of one close to you. Some people don't get much out of day stays, but I find they are not first time mums. There is no doubt you will learn SOMETHING. I'm fairly strict with that routine, when I'm home. Or if I've got cleaning to do then I just leave him to play under his gymni. But I do stick to it when I can. Some days we get 2 aerobic sessions, some days we get 4. It also depends on how he's sleeping for the day. But I try to do it as much as I can. I find he's much more settled when I do.

Tanya - I second what Georgi said, definitely worth looking at a day stay . Most people I know who have been seemed to find it useful, and hey, if you were just gonna be at home.... even if you learn one thing hopefully that's useful.

We've got hives this morning. But it's just on one leg so I'm a bit puzzled - but quite red & angry on much of the leg with little white areas in the centre of the hives iykwim. He was a bit fretful but has gone off ok so I figure they're not bothering him too much. The dog was in, and she may have managed to lick that leg (she's told not to lick but mebbe she snuck one in)... but he's been around the dog heaps before and not reacted. Anyone know anything useful re hives?
belfie- i get really bad hives, been gettin them almost everyday and annoyin the *****s outta me. theres red patches everywhere & it might even seem a bit diseased to ppl iykwim. if u say theres a white area lookup ringworm...my drs cant really find the cause of my hives cept allergy/hayfever so im plannin on gettin an allergy test done next time i visit. so long as he doesnt scratch them which will irritate them, it'll b ok. they usu disappear after a period of ignorance. if ur fussed then wipe him down with cold towel to cool him off. sorry i cant b much help, im a lil scattered brain atm
tanya- never hurt to try. as others hv said, u'll at least get something out of it.

theres something in the air...DS was real grizzly this morning. woke up 6am crying his heart out, didnt want a feed/change, took half hr to settle. same thing at 8am...he's usu a real easy baby, dunno wht happened...
belfie - i am sure i have mentioned the colossal allergies in our families - well, Riley is allergic to dog saliva - he will break out into hives/welts where the saliva has irritated the skin - he can pat them ok - just can't be licked. We had 2 dogs when he was born and then when he started running around we had to rehome them cos it was a nightmare - they were all just playing and it was unavoidable :(
