*thinking to myself* --- mmmm maybe circumcision ... maybe not ....
Amy - i'm just green with envy that i can't start our day at 9am - but then again my kids are all mostly in bed by 8pm so that is good too - shouldnt be greedy hey!
More Anzacs in oven to rescue - DS loved them so much after baking them for the school fete i did some today for a little treat when he got home from school - probably the only time i will ever bake as such
-
kuraiza - I'm definitely loving dummy heaven. :) But now I'm not sure how often I should use the dummy. Do you only use it for bed time?
Oh and you won't want to hear this but Maya has not been the same since her 4 month injections, which were 3 weeks ago!!!! She's been harder to settle, feeding more and waking more at night since then! :( Hopefully the effects will wear off for Jude soon!
Last night Maya woke 3 times and was really hard to resettle after one of the feeds (up for nearly 2 hours). Sigh! I just don't know why she has changed so much and will it ever go back to how it was?!
I had a good day though. My DH finally took a day off that he had owing. :) And I went and had a massage while he looked after Maya. :)
-
just a quick one frm me...
exams all finished, YAY!
wish me luck with the ILs, hope i dont get into a fight with DP. I dont agree with their child-bringing methods etc PLUS DP is guaranteed grumpy as he's been naughty up till not so long ago...2mths of crap in his system & then without *sigh* hope the meds will do its job. his friend said that getting off the stuff will cause him to go into depression, not lookin forward to it. anyhoo better get our ass out the door to the airport, will post when we're back...
have a good weekend everyone :)
-
Tanya: Well Jude and Maya have been tag-teaming since they were born, having quite similar temperaments, so poo to that. Maya waking up 3 times a night and being so hard to settle is terrible, it hasn't come to that with Jude but I had to feed him twice at each feed last night, once from the boob and then from bottle because he wasn't satisfied so I was up for ages twice through the night, but once I'd filled him to the brim he went to sleep easily, even without his dummy.
btw, I use the dummy whenever I want to, I don't worry about it only being for bed. I have vague memories of there being rules back at the start, but I quickly got over that. Jude doesn't always take a dummy and he doesn't always need one, so he's definitely no Maggie Simpson.
Teruteru: congratulations on finishing your exams. I missed out, what are you studying? That must be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (etc) hard with a little baby.
-
teru - woo hoo congrats on the exams!! I still don't know how you do it, so well done. I hope the trip goes well too.
Well we had a very unsettled Mr X last night - who was he on the phone to?
And he had his bath this mornign which always makes him mega-grumpy... poor laddie gets the itchy scritchies afterwards. MIL was over and was quite struck by how unhappy he is afterwards (which was kinda gratifying cos I had explained that this happens), and that's why we do it on the day, not at night. Oh well, at least it's over for another week.
I went online shopping and bought myself a superstar galactibra (a sports one - but not underwire) to hold in my E cup girls, Estelle & Edna (no, i don't really call them that ). I'm hoping it'll be good, cos i just can't find a decent bra anywhere atm, and I want to be able to walk without knocking myself out! Fingers crossed it'll be ok.
Oh and SamiH - u can live vicariously thru me, cos i bought those cot sheets. In return, you can have my share of the anzacs :p
hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. I couldn't sleep until 4 am - combination of DH snoring, unsettled boy, and "healing discomfort". arrrgh :wall: zombie-belfie needs caffeine!
-
Ugh, judging by the wet patch and the ache in my ovaries, I'm back on a 28-day cycle. Not that it matters since I'm not having sex. God, my poor husband.
Anyone have set plans on when/if they will have another child?
-
no plans here ... we are done :)
-
Kuraiza
as for AF....mine is all over the place...it has only been 21 days since last AF.. and she has returned with a vengence!!!! its days like today i hate being a woman!!!
As for kidlets... want 1 more (that will make total of 4) BUT we are not 100% sure if/when we will start IVF again...IF we do..it will be January '10 when we will start, we will have to do a FULL stim cycle as we don't have any frozen embies :( we only got 2 eggs last cycle and only 1 was viable (and that 1 is Jack)
Teru
congrats on finishing your exams :D
and i hope you have a great trip :)
-
Katones - wow 4, i can't imagine it.
we're gonna start trying for #2 probably Oct onwards. My obs suggested we should be trying then because of my... ahem... advanced age
-
OMG.. Maya only woke ONCE last night at 4am! I feel like a new woman! Though she was hard to settle after her feed and was up till 6am! Still.. getting up once for 2 hours is better than 2 or 3 times! I really hope she keeps doing that and is over the waking many times!!! And yesterday I visited my mother (hour long car trip) with no crying!!! :hooray:
teru - Congrats on finishing your exams! And have a great trip! :)
kuraiza - Yeah I'm using the dummy now whenever I feel it's necessary. I don't think she sleeps as deeply when she has a dummy in her mouth so I try settling her without it but if it's taking ages I pop the dummy in. It's also great to have for car trips cos she hates being in the car but at the moment the dummy seems to keep her calm. :) As for more kids.. I'm planning to have them far apart. I wouldn't be able to cope with another one while Maya is still very young. Maybe when she's 3 or 4? What about yourself?
belfie - You're not that old! I'm not that far behind you in age! As for bras.. I think I've been wearing the wrong size maternity bras. I am so annoyed cos I got fitted twice and was told two different sizes. One was too tight and the other was quite loose so I went with the loose fitting cos it's more comfy. And I've assumed that maternity bras are meant to be loose and unsupportive. But I am sick of having bouncy bbs so I went into a store and tried on heaps and I now think I am in between the two sizes I was fitted for and gosh it's more comfy having supported bbs! But I've forked out so much money on maternity bras and now I'm going to have to fork out a whole lot more money on this new size. :wall:
Hi to everyone else. Hope you are all having good weekends. :hello:
-
Tanya: Breastfeeding bras are meant to be very supportive. You have a little baby tugging on your boobs, stretching the muscles and skin and you need to keep your boobs firmly supported to stop them sagging and dragging on the ground.
The jury's out on whether we'll have another baby. I think it's likely because I always wanted 2 babies, but with this lack of sleep thing I've been rethinking things. However, if we do have another child the earliest we'll be trying to conceive will be August 2010.
-
kuraiza - Yeah I can really feel the difference with the new bra. I'm actually really p***ed off that I had TWO proper bra fittings and they were BOTH wrong! And then I spent lots of money buying bras in the wrong size. What's the point of getting properly fitted then?!?
It sounds like you'll wait as long as we will to have another child. I've decided that I will definitely have a second one, but the earliest we'd start trying is mid-late next year. That way Maya will be around 3 and can maybe go to early kinder.
Question: Where do your babies sleep? In your room or another room? And do they sleep in a cot or bassinet or in your bed? And if they are in another room how do you hear them (do you have a monitor or do you just hear them when they cry loudly?)? - hmm.. I guess that's questions not question.
-
Jude sleeps in his own room in a cot. His room is next door to ours and we leave his door open and ours open just a crack. We live in a small rented apartment, I can hear him from anywhere.
I also was properly fitted for maternity bras 3 or 4 times, and every time I was told something different. I also wasted money on expensive bras. I now live in my Big W soft-something bra that cost $20 or something.
-
Tanya - maybe your BB size changed? I got fitted in late PG, but I don't like what was available (think granny-style with a big seam across it that shows under t-shirts!) and find it very difficult to find things I like/fit properly. When I've been to Target & Big W just NOTHING fits me! I can't wait until I'm back to a C-cup again and can actually fit into more mainstream stuff! So I'm with you on spending a fortune. And lol I shouldn't joke around my age, it's just my way so I don't take myself too seriously teheh. Really we're 35 and 33 years young :)
Oh and X sleeps in his cot in his own room - we leave the doors open usually but also have a baby monitor which gets used when I have any of our 2 cats or 1 dog inside, so I can safely shut his door & still hear him. One of my cats has decided that a cot is surely nothing but a cat-sized bed and makes a beeline for it. So our door-shut policy has become even stricter! We tried him in our room but he snored so loud it just didn't work - was my first preference tho.
So saying, DH has snored so loud that i've slept in the lounge the last 2 nights! :wall:
We just had a family picnic in the park with my mother's group - 9 bubbas plus hubbies too. Was heaps of fun seeing how different all the babies are - we put them in a big circle & took piccies tehehe.
-
belfie - I don't think my bbs have changed. I got fitted late in pg too. At one fitting I was told a size that was too small and just really hurt me. At another fitting I was told a size that was too big but comfy. So that's the size I bought cos I was told my bbs would become heaps bigger when my milk came in. But they didn't.
kuraiza - Yeah I bought a couple of $10 clearance bras from Kmart - plus a couple of more expensive ones. Plus I bought a few of those Bonds singlets which aren't that cheap! Now I have to start from scratch. :(
Maya has been sleeping in our room all this time in a bassinet. But she's almost too big for it and a cot won't fit in our room. I actually don't like the idea of moving her to her own room. It's so convenient having her in our room cos I can hear her straight away when she needs a feed and I can just pick her up and feed her in bed while I snooze. When Maya moves I'll have to get up and retrieve her from her room to feed in bed which = me waking up more. And I already have lots of trouble getting back to sleep as it is. We also have the problem of a cat, so we can't leave her door open and I'm not sure how I will hear her unless she's screaming. I'm actually partially deaf so she'd really have to scream for me to hear her. Maybe a monitor is the way to go.
-
Tanya Julian sleeps in a cot in his own room with the door closed (otherwise older brothers like to play with cool toys) and we have our door open and I usually hear him when he wakes and as soon as he makes a cry I'm up and picking him up for a feed.
Belfie I've added to your overall obcession, I put some on layby at Big W yesterday and was thinking that you would love them, they are winter ones, so when I get them off layby I'll put them on him and put a pic in the gallery :). I've also got E sized boobs and it's a major pain to get a nice bra anywhere.
Kurazia not sure on another bub, I would like one more but will have to see what DH says, if so I wouldn't start trying until at least mid next year.
Julian has nearly got over his cold, so will have to take him to the Drs for his needles this week. He has his appointment at the physio tomorrow at 2pm for his torticollos, so will see how he goes then.
hugs xoxo

I have big bazoongas too, but they didn't really get any bigger with lactation so I was the same, I bought a hot milk bra after several fittings but it never actually fit me, so that was a huge waste of money. The soft contours (or whatever brand) from Big W is a bit too small but the design of the bra means it just holds my boobs firmly (squishes my nipples flat) but it's still quite comfortable. I'm actually an 8E which doesn't exist in the world of maternity bras, or in the world of bras at all, so I have to try and make other sizes work, which is nuts. Why don't they make bras in a full range of sizes????? That issue has long been the bane of my booby existence.
I was just out walking along the beach and bumped into a woman from mothers group, it's nice to start bumping into new people. I guess it's true, when you have a baby you do get to meet all new people (thank god, since I have so few friends on the Gold Coast).
Belfie: I think I should go buy some more cot sheets. I have 1. Yes, that's right. 1.
Amanda: How do you do it? 5 children and you want more? Aren't you the most exhausted person on the planet?
I come from a large family so I know, from a child's perspective, that it's fun to have lots of siblings, but I don't know how parents do it. 2 will be the absolute limit for me.
-
Nothing to say really, just checking in :) We have had 2 kids parties yesterday and a family day out today as it is DH's big 40 tomorrow - but he didnt want a big party so I am respecting his wishes (thank goodnes cos when I could of organised it I have no idea) - but i am making him a cake and doing balloons and banenrs with the kids tomorrow.
We have decided that next Sunday is D day - or S day - well it is an S day - but also Solids day  We think Zander is ready, but i dont wanna do puree and mash with him cos i already cook for 4 people, yet have to do some degree of it and cant do BLS cos of all the allergies, eczema, hayfever, asthma in our families etc. Think I will still start with farex and then go onto stick food he can play with if nothing else.
*off to allergies forum to see if anyone has any ideas for me*
Zander slept in our room for the first 6 weeks, but he got evicted cos he was too noisy - i sleep without a monitor cos I found them annoying - he is about 5 metres down the hallway from us so not far.
Tanya, perhaps maya in your room - is she a light sleeper - maybe she wakes if she hears you guys stirring, or maybe you get up to her as soon as she stirs when she might settle back to sleep??? Just throwing it into the mix for food for thought.
Gotta go, too much fresh air, I am pooped!
