lol is there any such thing as a model child? The target catalogue might try to make us think so... but me, I doubt it! I just hope things have improved for you and Amy... like Amy said, an exorcist sounds expensive!

Hi all, long time no see....
Have been having trouble with the internet, so after a while just gave up on it. Anyway, it seems ok now.
Have been reading some of your posts, but keep getting interrupted. Anyway for those of you trying to get bubs on a bottle, just wondered if you have tried a new bottle thats out called Adiri.... It is soooo cool. My sister was working at the baby expo and bought me one for V, yet V isnt that fussed on it atm. It is in the shape of a BB, and is a all in one bottle. The teat doesnt get replaced and gets filled up from the bottom. Since it is similar to the BB, it might be easier to get them to take. Since V has been on the bottle for a while now, she is used to the normal teats, so when she tries the new one she hasnt got much to latch onto as it is like a nipple.
Cant believe some of these bubs have 5 teeth already, V still has the one.
Tanya, Amy - You girls are doing really well with your little ones. Tanya, I am so glad Maya reached the 6kg mark. Woohoo. I will find out tomorrow what V weighs.
Belfie - Everytime I have a morning cuppa, still just the one. I believe her second one is going to come thru soon tho. Woohoo 5.....
Georgi - I hope BJ is being good to mummy today and that headache you had is gone. AF is not much fun now that she has decided to return is it. I dread that time of the month. hugs I will call you as soon as I get a chance.
I hope everyone else is doing well. I hope to get on here a bit more soon.
Well since February 14, we have had Valentines day, the a birthday in March, then easter then 2birthdays in April and a Wedding anniversary, then another birthday and Mothers day in May, so have been sooo busy. Along with doing bookwork, and having sick kids on and off. Then the internet being difficult.
Anyway, while I have a chance I will let you all know how V is doing. V is doing really well, apart from when she had her immunisations, whoich she didnt handle too well. She is always smiling, has her giggles all the time, her little leg when she is happy or excited just swings constantly, hehehe. Although she doesnt always say it, I have heard Mum a couple of times and over the past couple of days Dada has come up on a few occassions. All in amongst her baby babble and squeals. She looks at herself in the mirror and giggles at herself, soo cute. Still little, but I can see she is growing. So fingers crossed for tomorrow as we have her pead appt at 11.30am. Hoping she is at least 5.5kg. I guess I will find out when her operation will be done to remove her cyst then too.
She is such a fussy eater, but is slowly starting to eat more variety, yet downside is even tho she only picks at the solids, she is starting not to have much bottle either and whinges and turns her head and pushes the bottle away almost every feed, thankfully tho she eventually takes it. She is such a small eater, and is lucky to have her full feed all at once. The most she has ever had in a sitting is 160ml. Anyway will let you know what her weight is tomorrow. hugs all.
Hi All,
Update on V:
Well today went well, V still hasnt hit the 5.5kg mark just yet but she will soon. We havent booked her Op yet as the pead said she is still to little to have it done. He said normally the bubs are ok to go under GA but V isnt the size of a 6mth old so we must wait. He said even if we did book it they would send us home due to her size. I have a referral to have her hips ultrasound so will do that soon.
Anyway heres V's measurements. Weight: 5.230kg Length: 61.5cm HC 41.5cm
csab - It's great to hear from you and hear how V has been doing. She sounds like she's doing really well. Maya has also been a frustrating eater at times. Thankfully she's doing better with her food at the moment. Hopefully V will get there with her food soon. Maya also isn't the size of a 6 month old. All the bubs in my MG are a lot bigger than her. People often assume she's 3 months old. We just have small but mighty bubs. ;)
That Adiri looks interesting. I googled it. When Maya wouldn't take a bottle I eventually found she'd take the Tommy Tippee Closer to Nature. which is also more breast like.
Sami - Are there some mothers you could borrow bottles from to see if Z will take them? I tried the Tommy Tippee one from a mum at MG before buying them.
I hope all the non-sleeping babies are back to sleeping again!
Maya is nearly better now. She's got a cough and a runny nose but seems a lot happier and back on food again. In fact she's eating more than before she got sick. Maybe she's making up for not eating well?! I can tell she's grown again cos she now fits into 00 pants around the waist! They don't fall off her any more. :)
Tonight I'm going on a girls night out to see a play! I can't remember what the play is - though I do remember it's not something I'm really interested in. I'm going cos my DH said he'd look after Maya and I thought I could do with a night out!! OMG I'm getting excited now!! haha.. I haven't had a night out.. since... who knows when!
CSAB - Glad all went well at the paed, although V didn't make the weight you were hoping for. She sounds like she's doing just perfectly. Sorry I missed your call yesterday. I was busy laying down with BJ so he would sleep.
BJ has his first sickness. It's not too bad, but he has a stuffed up nose. I can only tell when he's BF'ing, he sounds phlemy (sp?). He must've got it off a baby at MG. Not sure if it's affecting him much, but he has been an outright PIA. He wouldn't sleep yesterday so I ended up laying down with him & he slept for nearly 1.5hrs. He went to be no probs up until 3.15am. He woke up crying, more of a whinge, so I left him at it for 1HOUR! He still didn't stop. I didn't wanna feed him as this normally makes him wake every 30mins or so, so I got him up out of bed. He was wide awake & happy! He didn't have red watery eyes so he wasn't crying, just whinging (which I could tell by his cries). I sat on the lounge with him & gave him some water. He didn't have much, just a couple of small mouthfuls then pushed the cup away. About 10mins later I changed his nappy & put him back in bed. He pretty much went straight to sleep. What's that about???? He woke again at 5.45 this time with a more urgent cry, so I fed him. He went straight back to sleep, thankfully. He did wake again with a little cry but went back to sleep. Thankfully he didn't wake till 8.15am. This is very unusual for him. The night before was a shoker too. He kept waking up. Do you think it's cause of his stuffed nose? Gosh, I hope he gets back to his normal sleeping self soon. I can handle the days of not sleeping, well kinda, but not the nights. I feel terrible that I feel so angry about it. I feel like a bad mum for getting upset that he wakes. I know babies do this but just can't handle it. I'm now begining to think I won't have a 2nd bub, it's too hard.
Gees, I've been whinging alot lately
Oh Georgi, I know the feeling (and I also think having 2 is insane on some days... on other days I want 2. Go figure huh!). I was having a whinge to my sister (who has 2 kids) the other week - and feeling like I shouldn't be whinging but i still was anyway, and she sent back these very wise words....
That made me feel a lot better. Even if you have an easy baby, whether you think you should be whinging or not - it's still a tough job, and you have your good days/nights and bad. And this is a great place for letting it out  hope he has a better night tonight for you.:
When they are little they are so dependent on you for everything, it's very tiring and demanding. If I came to live with you and you had to make and give me all my meals, dress me, help me bath, help me get in and out of bed, get in and out of the car, cried when I was tired and wanted things, and you had to watch me all the time I was awake you would be sick of it within a week. Fortunately babies are infinitely cuter, plus a bit lighter and more portable. But the principle is still the same - it's a tough job. No matter how good Mum was, the buck always stopped with me. Roll on Grandparenthood I say!
Georgi hun - my husband always says this - and yes at times I feel like punching him in the head when he does ..... but ..... everything with babies is a phase ....
He wont do it when he is 4 and realistically it is such a short time for a lifetime of love and happiness with our children.
Giselle was a shocker night sleeper and stopped day sleeping at 18 months old. i was at work 3 days a week from when she was 10 months, and some days it was soooooo much easier to be at work than be home with her all day - I know it sounds harsh - but you all understand that feeling. I would be like the walking dead. She would scream overnight until she vomited if I just left her - this is after 18 months of age! And then I was worried she would wake Riley up, so I ended up cuddling her and eventually in our bed - took me about 6 months to get her out again LOL. But for the last 12 months - she goes to bed - stays there all night - and all is good :)
BJ is still so very little. Today you may only think you can cope with one baby - and if you have another - it will still be only one baby cos BJ will be a toddler!!!. The first few years can be so touch, but bring sooo much joy, wonder and laughter. Think of the times you have been watching him and tears have welled in your eyes cos you are just amazed at your love for him - or is that just hormonal me
I sit here and look at my bomb site loungeroom with toys everywhere, colouring books and pencils, baby toys (why are the littlest people always have the biggest toys!!??) - and it frusstrates me so much sometimes - but when they are all playing and laughing it is so precious - and when they can tell you they love you sooooo much mummy - words cannot describe :)
Anyways - Z has a little cold too which I still think is a bit teeth related, but G is home from preschool today cos she has a rudolph nose too. Quiet day. Z is not eating much - about 2 teaspoons a day - I just wish he would eat a bit more - but upside is he is still sleeping well at night time .... day times I can cope - but having said that he has been down for 50 mins so far fingers crossed
We have fireworks in the ACT this weekend so R is having a friend over for a play tomorrow arvo who lives in NSW (10kms away lol) - so that should be fun.
Willing the sun to come out to get my line full of washing dry ... looks like the only potential sunny day for the next week :(
Georgi - :yeahthat: Though I soooo know how you feel!!! It's totally normal to feel the way you do. I go through days/moments of feeling like that. And when Maya was around 3 months old and I couldn't settle her at all for sleep I thought it was NEVER going to end. I think from that experience and from all the difficulties I had at the start I learnt that things do change eventually! I still have to remind myself of that from time to time, and there always seems to be something that frustrates me. Like at the moment I can't leave the room without her crying. Sometimes I get so frustrated by it and then other times I realise that she doesn't know that I'm coming back and she won't still be doing it in years/months to come.
BJs sickness is probably not helping either. I know when Maya has been sick her sleep has gone out the window.
I don't know if this will help but what I try and do is imagine things from her perspective. Like if BJ is waking and not resettling.. maybe it's because he's not feeling well at the moment or maybe he's missing his mum??
I've been where you are soooo many times! I remember you suggested sleep schools to me and you know what I got Tweddle at home and that changed things for me. Have you considered sleep school for BJ?
As for having a 2nd kid I already know there's no way I'll have a 2nd one before Maya is about 3 years old. I think 3 is a great age because she'll be able to do things for herself more, she will be able to help me a bit and I can enrol her in 3 year old kindy to get her out of the house.
Tanya - The Pead was telling me yesterday he is going to keep an eye on her growth, and that atm he is happy with her progress and if he was to send her to a growth specialist then they would turn her away as she is right on the bottom line of the graph. However he said if she starts to fall off abit with her growth then he wants to refer her to the growth specialist then. I often get asked if V is 3mths, and they are always surprised when I tell them her age. I am glad Maya is getting better and eating better than before too. When I had my second bub, it ended up being just under 4yrs in an age gap. They arent as close as my DD's are, only 13mths apart so I am hoping and praying that once they are both adults they become better friends.
Georgi - My turn, thanks for your call, sorry I wasnt there to pick it up too. V was having a feed. Parenting isnt always easy hun, it is hard at times then it gets a bit easier until school starts then it starts to get a bit harder, then they become teenagers and it is harder again. I am currently waiting for the easy to settle back in with my oldest, hoping it will be soon, as he is almost 18. Actually have to say, I have seen an improvement with the older one lately, but the second oldest has started. I am thinking that at least with my 2 DD's I will pretty much get them in the hard time at the same time, then pretty much in the easy stage again at the same time. Does that make sense, apart from just mumble. hehehe. You really have done a wonderful job with BJ. You may feel differently about having another once BJ is abit older. hugs
Belfie - One day you and Georgi may just say to yourselves, What the heck, lets have another one. Look at me, thought that I would stop at 2, but kept going and going and going. hehehe. I think maybe I am the insane one. hahaha.
Sami - By the sounds of it your starting to make yourself clucky again. I keep wanting to talk DH around about having another one, definately dont like my chances, but also not ready for another until V is abit older. Even then when she is older, I dont like my chances talking DH around. Do you think you will have anymore, or definately thats it?
Awwww, thanks so much girls. I am struggling at the moment but it's not all cause of his sleep. He's not taking his breastfeeds real well & I'm thinking it's time to start weaning. I am really worried he's just not getting enough milk. This could also be a reason his sleep is not good. He had his first morning feed at 5.45am. I didn't time it but assume it was around 4-5mins. His next feed was 10.45am & he only had a 4 min feed. I tried to feed him again at 12 as he only slept from 11 to 11.30am (I tried for 30mins to get him back to sleep), but he only had another 3mins. I would say I would have only just of let down by then so he probably didn't even get any milk. I decided I wasn't going to be stuck at home with him whinging & not sleeping so we went shopping. I tried to feed him again at 3pm, in the parents room, he suckled for 30seconds then simply refused. So I put him back in the pram & we continued to shop. He slept for around 15mins in the pram. We got home just after 4.30pm & he normally has his dinner at 5pm. He has been a little off his solids too. He was happy & in good spirits so the lack of sleep didn't seem to have affected him. He had some dinner, a bath & had only 4mins BF. I thought he'd want a big feed since he missed his afternoon feed :dunno: So I expressed 60mls & he took about 55mls FROM THE BOTTLE. I am now thinking he is weaning himself, if that's possible at this stage. I've decided I will top him up with EBM until he's use to the bottle & taking full feeds from it. If he improves his BF's then I'll be happy to continue, but if he still isn't all that interested I'll introduce formula and get my body back! I'm feeling pretty sad about it and am hoping it doesn't become too stressful for me.
Thanks for listening, & I do appreciate your kind words :grouphug: Thanks girls
Georgi - I've been (and still am a lot of the time) where you are now. From about 3 months old Maya stopped taking breast feeds (only a couple of mins on each side) and she stopped sleeping well. It's been such a hard ride for me over the last few months because of her weight. To help with feeds I got an electric breast pump and would express after every feed and then top her up. Then I started giving her a bottle of formula as a dream feed and only expressed morning and night. Now I can't take the expressing twice a day any more so I'm only doing it at night time (though I can't always get anything out). Anyway, Maya is feeding a lot better now on the bb but I don't think it's because of anything I did. I think she just got over the phase she was in. And she will still sometimes only stay on for a couple of mins. What I did was such hard work and I won't do it again. If Maya starts eating poorly again I'll move her over to formula. My long winded point is.. that you have to do what feels right for you. Also, with the sleep schools they don't just focus on sleep. They look at the whole picture and try to sort out any eating issues too. So maybe sleep school is worth a consideration.
csab - I'm so glad that V is doing so well. :)
Hello everyone else. Where are you all? I expected to log on here and have a heap of messages to read up on. I hope you all had a good long weekend.
I got back into unpacking. I really want to fix this place up finally so that I can have visitors over. I also bought a new vacuum.. which (yes I know it's sad ;) I'm excited about. They didn't have any in stock so we had to order one in. I can't wait to have a vacuum that actually picks up dirt!!
I'm feeling a bit sick today. :( Sore throat. Hope it doesn't develop into anything else. Specially cos tomorrow I'm going to an info session for some potential at home work! I hope the work turns out to be ok. It'd be nice to be doing something different again and earning some extra $$.
Well, Dh said last night - so, do you think we have a full house, full car and full family now - I said what do you mean - he said are we having any more babies - I laughed at him .... so I think Csab I am pretty sure no more here  Honestly, if I had a 2 year age gap between another and Zander - I would be 39 by the time #4 arrived - I is gettin too old and tired me finks .... unless he was going to lead into the vasectomy talk - someone interrupted us then. LOL
Tanya - yes I have TTCN bottle as well - Zander has taken 20mls, and I had a friend give him a bottle the other day 30 mls, then DH yesterday 20mls - and then he just screams the house down.
I posted in the Breastfeeding thread - but everyone assumed I was trying to give him EBM in a bottle - no I am trying to intro formula - I dont have the time or motivation to express when he will be 9 months old by the time he takes a bottle - I am comfortable with im having formula now and what we have done so far. i want to do morning and night feeds and have 2 x bottles during the day - surely thats not too much to ask, but Z-man has other ideas
Georgi - hope the baptism goes well - i never got back to you re clothes either, gosh I am slack - I seem to only remember the last few posts
Zander cut another tooth this morning - he has had a teething necklace on for 5 days - but hmmmm he has been a bit sad so my jury is still out on the therapeutic value of them as yet.
Supposed to snow in Canberra tomorrow - hope it snows properly and not just sleety mush so the kids can actually see and feel it :)
Absolutely freezing here - thank goodness we have nowhere to go today apart from school etc.
Georgi - Hope all is well in Georgi and Byron land. In does sound like maybe Byron isnt getting enough BM, but I could be wrong. However when I was UTD with DD2, DD1 ended up turning off my milk and would have a little bit and turn her head. So I thought what a good chance to try her on Formula, as she kept refusing the bottle, when I had tried to wean her off, she ended up taking the bottle without any crying at all, and was happier again. You really need to do whats best for Byron and yourself, and only you will really know what that is. Hang in there hun, you will work it out. Also as Tanya mentioned with BJ not all that well, could be the reason for the feeding issues. hugs
Sami- I will be 39 in two yrs as well, boy doesnt that sound old. :D For me though I will my only chance of having another would be an accident..... Then DH can blame himself :) Are you sure your DH isnt thinking of extending your family.
Tanya - Woohoo for the unpacking, i hope you get settled soon. Thanks re V, she really is doing well. Still not sure when I will do her U/S for her hips tho, I guess I will have to do it soon. I hope you feel better soon. Goodluck with the info session tomorrow on the home work, I hope it works out for you. I get excited over new vaccums too. How is little Maya now?
Well went out to dinner last night, and V cried practically the whole time we were in the restaurant, poor bubba. She gets really shy, and doesnt like big crowds, unless it is at home. She had about 30min sleep while we were there, then woke up about 20mins before we were going to leave, and cried for about 10mins of that too, until the last 10mins she decided to settle. She was back to her normal self once we walked out of the restaurant. V is also teething again, expecting a tooth to come thru soon. She loves babbling away to herself and calling out dada, hehehe. I tried getting her to say Mama instead but dada definately triupmhed. She said mum about twice and has never said it since. hehehe Ohh well.
quick me post. I have a boy who has been covered in hives tonight. Second night running this has happened, poor little mite is soooo unhappy - it's settling down now but he's totally overtired & revved. Rang the pharmacy and all the antihistamines are for over 1's... i'll take him to the doc, but just wondering have any of you ever used any antihistamines in under 1's?
hi to everyone hope you're going well
belfie - when riley was around 11 months he broke out in hives we think from dog or cat fur at a friends house - pharmacist worked out the dosage for us for Phenergan. Now I know the thinking has changed with phenergan so get the pharmacist to work out the safe dose for Polaramine - it was over 6 years ago after all.
thanks SamiH. The pharmacist wouldn't give me anything, said everything has now been restricted to over 1's because of SIDS risks. We're off to the doc this arvo to see if we can get to the bottom of it and also get some meds in case.
yeah he is still a bit young i think ...
do you think food, product or environment related? do they make him sad :(
calamine lotion in the meantime maybe?? i dunno for this age
Sorry Belfie, I hope your little man gets over the hives soon hunni. I hope the Dr's today can help with some relief for him. hugs
I think maybe food??? He's been having plenty of new things over the last few weeks and LOTS more food (he's gone from 2 tsp to about 3-4 tbs), plus the cat/dog situation hasn't changed ALL that much. Only common theme from the last 2 days is sweet potato & my DH said when he googled it he found other similar cases getting hives from sweet tato. And ALL food makes him sad a bit - he's not thrilled by it  i think we might have to re-test some foods and document reactions a bit more I guess. His sleep has been all over the shop over the last week or so - which is probably related.
Oh and also the pharmacist suggested that zyrtec would probably be the least risky option we just need the doc to assess risk vs benefit I guess... apparently the dose for 1 yo is based on 10kg so we're pretty close to that at 9.7kg which might help.
Otherwise I'll just express for another 5 years  :doh::doh:
Poor little man - and mummy for sleeping issews :( Thats why i thought calamine just to dab on them if they are making him itchy, without taking anything internally - but yeah ask the doc so he can assess they def are hives and mebbe he hasnt been bitten by something.
Well done on the food!! Tell him to have a talk to my Z man will you? He loves exploring but not much actually goes down:rolleyes:
Well talk about scary - the other day at the supermarket DS1 - anaphylactic to peanuts and most tree nuts - we were in fruit and vegie section, I turn around, and he is playing with pistachio nuts in their shells - they dont look like true nuts and are green etc - I cried out to stop - we ran and washed his hands, when I told him they were nuts he was so upset the poor darling. He was fine, but I was watching him like a hawk to make sure he didnt put his fingers in his mouth - the worrying thing was the peanuts which is the BIGGIE were right next to them in their shells - phew!! Always gotta be on the lookout.
Zander has been sleeping ok again until 4am when he wants to be fed, but he still goes back to sleep until 7ish - but I think he wakes and it has gotten cold by that time of the morning ...
Bottle and the Z man are still not friends - gunna try a straw today instead and see. he doesnt ever feed for comfort or fall asleep on the boob, so if he takes it he should be fine - and then I wont have to worry about getting him off the bottle tehehehehe.
Anzacs in the oven - gotta go!
A quick me post cos I've gotta take Maya for her 8 month appointment soon. I'm trying out a new health centre cos the nurses at my old centre were all crap! It's a shame because I like the idea of being walking distance to a MCHC but I want a nurse I can trust and can talk to! Anyway, fingers crossed this nurse will be good! And hopefully Maya's weight is OK. I get nervous every time I take her for a weigh. I'm reminding myself that these will be different scales and so her weight could be anything, even less than before if the scales are badly calibrated.
I was feeling a bit better yesterday but today have woken up with a full on cold! I feel terrible. And on top of that.. AF arrived for the FIRST time! So I'm not a happy gal at the moment. :( I wanna crawl back in bed and put my head under the covers. But after my appointment I have my MIL coming for a visit.
Oh and the info session went well yesterday. Though I found it tough leaving Maya with my mum, cos my mum has no idea what to do with her. M didn't sleep the whole time I was gone so she was sooooooo tired and grumpy when I got home. I think she really missed me. And I missed her! At the same time I enjoyed being amongst adults for a few hours and I think I sold myself well. They are going to contact me soon about the work. :)
OK gotta run. Will try and get on later for personals.
Hey Ladies,
Just a quicky from me. I'm using my sisters computer, I can't get service at my in laws place.
BJ was great on the drive down. No probs. Though he's not going to sleep during the days. We have to rock him or put him in the pram or the car. We're just doing whatever we need to whilst away & will deal with the consequences when we get home.
Good news however, his BFing is going great. He's having 5 or 6 really good feeds. Yay!
So busy catching up with all our friends. Can't wait for the baptism this sunday. Bj looks adorable in his white suit.
Caoi for now!
Georgi - have a fab time, I can just imagine BJ looking gorgeous in a little white suit, look forward to seeing some pics!
*Tanya* - I hope the MHCN appt was good and the new one is a goodie. Head cold AND AF just sucks you poor thing!
SamiH - oh goodness how scary for you! The eternal vigilance must be a PITA... but better than missing something of course :(
csab - thanks for your well wishes too. I enjoyed reading your updates, and forgot to reply earlier, oops. What do you think is the nicest age gap between bubs? I'm pretty sure i"ll have another. Occasionaly on a bad day I think nuh... but mmm love bubses just too much to stop at 1, and lol i'm a spring chicken only 35 :p
And I'm repeating from elsewhere... but... we've been to the GP who thinks the hives are dermographia... I guess I shouldn't be surprised, as I have the same thing! X's big breakout just presented a little differently to mine (which is quite minor these days and barely bothers me) . We've been referred to the Allergy Clinic at the RCH but apparently that may take a long time to get into. And in the interim, soothe him with something cool on it (sorbolene) or a cold compress... but no antihistamines hmm we'll see how we go. If it goes the way it was, I'll be trying to find another dr in the interim! But he's been a bit better, sleeping better, and just getting a bit itchy/blotchy of an evening, but nowhere near as bad. So I guess we'll just wait and see. Lucky X huh, ezcema from daddy & dermotagraphia from mummy is bottom of the barrel from both sides!
But our big win for the week... I am SOOOOOOO excited  is that he's finally started opening his mouth for solids!!!!!
:happyforyou:
I couldn't believe it this morning, his little mouth opened, bird-like for each mouthful. He's taken about 7 tbs today (that's HUGE for us!) - I am SO pleased. Every feed I was just over the moon cos I think I half thought it was a fluke & would disappear. It used to be a battle to get every spoonful in... so hopefully we'll be onto mushier textures & finger foods sooner rather than later. YAAAAY!
Hope everyone else is having a good week.
sorry been lurking...just a quick one
back from the paed: monsta is allergic to egg & cow's milk
so glad i found a paed otherwise the one at the rch wasnt til late july
hope something works out with the 'action plan' given to us
Morning All,
Georgi - Have a wonderful trip away. hugs Yay BJ is eating better again. Good Boy...
Belfie - Thinking about the age gaps, I think both have their advantages and disadvantages. With the boys being 4yrs apart they seem to fight/argue all the time due to the age gap and also being in different stages of their lives, yet as they both become adults I am hoping for them to be closer. I do however believe most of their troubles with each other is the older is shorter than the younger one, both different builds and the older one is a tad jealous of that. The younger one likes to rub it in his face. The good side of the age gap is being able to give each of them the time they needed as babies as one was at pre school, if that makes sense, also only having to change one nappy and everything else that goes along with having one at pre school and one baby at home. With the closer age gap, 13mths my two girls, they were so much like twins, they are very close, still fight/argue but still close, they play the same games and have similar interests, also they learned of each other in certain things and had both of them fully toilet trained at the same time (night time). Downside was having to babies needing all the attention, they make more mess, always picking up after them, sometimes I wonder where the mess came from. They seem to be more wild than what my boys were. They always want the same things as the otherone gets jealous if they have different to the other. Ohh yeh and argghhhhh the mess!!!!!! Ohh and when they were younger needing to have a double pram, so if you ever end up having a baby close in age, think seriously about the pram you want, as alot of places dont have enough room for you to wheel a side by side pram, the tandums are better as they are one seat in front of the other so the width of a single pram. Just a tip to think about. If I think of something else, I will mention it. hehehe Poor little X, I hope he recovers soon from it. What a shame poor little man to get it from both sides. Woohoo on the solids eating, well done little X. hugs
Tanya - How did Maya go with her appointment? How exciting about the info session going well. Let us know how it all turns out for you. hugs
Sami - How scarey, so glad DS1 is ok, what a relief. Hope Z becomes friends with the bottle soon. V still hasnt got the gyst of a straw yet.
Teru - Sorry to hear about your bubs milk allergy, hope your OK. hugs
Well V is sound alseep atm, has abit of the sniffles, once again. Have DD2 at home today once again with the flu. DS1 is going to be in our local paper soon, as his school put him forward as he made a short film that they were all impressed about. He has won an award for it too thru the education dept, as their was a competition with the schools in NSW ACT, however not sure where he has come as we wont know until the presentation day in October. This is my son that is doing his HSC this yr.
csab - omg wow 13 mths that is close. That's interesting about the larger age gap, I don't think we'd ever go that big a gap only cos of my age. But it's interesting cos DH & his 2yr younger bro are very competitive... but I guess it depends on their personalities and lots of things, i.e. the height difference. Ideally (ha!) we'll have a 2 year gap (and stop with 2 ). I've got a P&T sports but I'm about to upgrade it to the vibe (with the doubles kit of course) so that should work ok. Congrats to DS1 that's awesome!
Teru - so sorry to hear about the egg & milk allergy! Has finding out helped with the eczema at all?
Woohoo.. Maya put on another 250 grams (in a month). So she's now 6.250. :) I'm just so relieved that she's growing again.
The MCHN was great. So I might stop looking for a new one. I posted up about finding a new MCHN and got a few responses. One of them sounded really really good, but it's further away. And I was happy with the one I saw yesterday. Oh and I find it really funny that different councils run their MCHC differently. I've tried 3 different ones all in different councils now. In the new council they are really big on BLS (the nurse signed me up for a talk next week) and they have heaps of other info sessions and lots of extra help available. Hmm.. maybe I should move over the border. ;)
Sami - Yay on Z's teeth coming through. :) I've stopped looking for M's teeth. They are ALL just sitting under the gums (with one a little bit poking out but has sat like that for months!). The MCHN checked M's gums yesterday and said that her teeth are just about to pop out.. and I mumbled.. 'they've been about to pop out for months now!" hehe.. ah well.. I guess they'll come when they are ready. And it probably has helped with the b/f not having them there to bite me with. ;)
csab - Maya is doing so well again now, which is such a relief. She is still small compared to other babies we see but she's such a capable girl. How is V going with her feeding? Is there likely to be a problem with V's hips or the U/s is just precaution? And sorry to hear about your sick kids but how exciting about your eldest son being in the paper and winning an award. :)
belfie - That's great you have answers. And yay that X is eating. :)
Georgi - Looking forward to seeing pics of BJ in his white suit.
teru - I hope the action plan works for D.
Well.. I'm still sick. :( Feeling lousy with chesty cold + AF. All hormonal and emotional too. Ended up getting upset with DH last night for no real reason. I'm going out to dinner tonight with mums from my new mums group and I'm going to drag myself out cos I think it's a great opportunity to socialise and get out. I just might have to have a shorter night though.
not much going on here...except for a very sick little man :(
Daddy took him off to the Drs this morning..as i had a 1st aid course that i couldn't get out of...all good....got a script for anti-biotics...and only to give it to him in the next 24hrs IF he gets worse.... so we shall see....but in all honesty..i think he will be starting on them tomorrow....still waiting on his 4th tooth to fully come through...it has popped through only slightly....
He is now pulling himself up to standing....and thinks he is very clever....and will let go whilst standing and playing...only to suddenly realise he isn't holding on then grabs a hold of anything within reach!!
fluff - How's Jack doing?? Hope he's better.
I had a great time on Friday night - dinner and drinks with the mums from my mums group. After dinner they went to a bar but I headed home. Then woke up on Saturday feeling so much worse. :cold: I think I am finally on the mend now!
I talked to Maya's paed today and she wants me to keep giving her a dream feed and to offer more snacks and more food. :wall: Until I talked to the paed today I was really happy with M's weight gain and growth. But the paed reckons it's still too low. :( But I can't force her to eat any more and I don't like the idea of offering snacks because it takes so long to feed her each time and then our whole day will become about eating only! So I don't know what to do at the moment.
hi all, dont have the brains to do too many personals...
tanya- how abt give maya something when u eat? dragon likes to eat at the same time as us so thats what ive been doing. or how abt give her a piece of fruit to 'play' with? im not really much help am i soz!
fluff- hope jack is better
MONSTA'S FACE IS SOOOOO SOFT & NICE NOW!!! sorry for the caps but im over the moon, just hope it stays this way :)
:hello: to all the other mummies, im slack on personals sorry!
teru - I do feed Maya when I eat at breakfast, lunch and dinner. :) And each time it takes half an hour to one hour to feed her. So she's up and eating and then soon back to bed. If I gave her an afternoon snack that would take time out of our only long play together. I've thought about giving her food to snack on while she plays, but 1) it'd be too messy and 2) I don't want her to play and eat at the same time.
So glad to hear D's face is better. :)
Everyone else - Where are you all??
Are other people's babies getting upset when you leave the room or turn around? It's been going on for weeks and weeks now. I can't even turn around cos Maya will start crying cos she thinks I'm leaving.
M's also getting really frustrated by the fact that she can't move forward. :( But I can't think of anything I can do to help her. Is there anything I can do to help her learn to crawl??
Nope Tanya...no crying here if i leave the room (only does IF he is really tired/grizzly)
Well....i weighed Jack this afternoon...10.40kgs :o any wonder why my arms are killing me!!!!
He has started clapping hands, will even do it when i say 'clap hands Jack' and waving to himself in the mirror....such a vain boy i have....must take after daddy..hehehe Jack will happily sit for AGES looking at himself smiling....and when i say ages i mean something like 20mins+
Hi
Just a quick one from me - DH away and R is sick with a cough - i'll keep him home from school today cos we have a big weekend planned LOL.
Over this eating crapola with Z - brekky - um a couple of sucks of toast - tried weetbix and yoghurt every day (not together) and i think he just doesnt like it. Lunch he will eat a little bit of banana, and dinner suck on whatever and actually swallow some custard. I'm not doing anything "wrong" as such - its just him but is frustrating the hell outta me.
ANyway, he is still a happy chappy and sleeping well at night - 2 out of 3 he will sleep through, but he has a feed around 4am the other one - thats fine. But this morning he decided 5.30 was a good time for wakeup which sucks cos I cant get him back into bed until after preschool run with G - around 9.15 - he is gunna be very tired.
Gotta go.
Hi All,
Sorry re the peronals too, I just dont have it in me today. I was admitted into hospital on Monday after having some nausea on my way to take my DD2 to have a mouth swab done at a pathology near us, well just felt so sick thought there was no way I would make it so had decided to turn off the main road and into the street that was just a corner away from my DD1 school so that I could rest for 30min before going in to get her, and if I had to be sick I would just poke my head out the door. Well as I was approaching this round about turning into the street of DD's school and just after turning out of the main rd, my eyes decided to play up, they were making everything go black. I finally got around the roundabout and went to duck into the next spot on the side of the rd I could pull the car over into and honestly trying to think of what happened next apart from clipping the car in front and everything going black for a little bit. A few of the parents that had saw what happened came racing over to see if I was alright and to check on the kids even tho no damage to my car and apparantly very little if any to the other car. They called the ambulance and also the police had come too, which I was unable to get out of the car until the ambulance came to make sure all was ok before taking me into the ambulance. Hands and feet had gone all numb and heavy after the blackout apparantly blood pressure had went low too.
I ended up being monitored in emergency for 24hrs, had etgs, brain scan, chest xrays etc then I was sent upto CCU for the next 24hrs and was home last night. Still no reason for passing out, they had decided viral infection. Anyway now the police are deciding to fine me or not. So atm not sure what is going to happen there.
Anyway now abit nervous about driving anywhere.
I hope you are all well. hugs
Oh csab huney - hope you are alright - mighty scary - especially having the car loaded all with precious bundles.
Just a crappy week hey!
I forgot to say my grandad died yesterday morning too (Qld) and funeral is next Tues - DH has to be somewhere which he can change - but an overnighter with Zander not what I need right now selfishly - they live an hour out of Brissy so would mean fly/hire/drive etc - and best not to take all the kids. ANyways - such is life. My Nana not upset cos she knows I really would be there if I could get away but logistically just too tricky.
So, I know have R & G home from school/preschool - G woke up crying she had a sore tummy and was tired - not going to push her cos that is not fair - especially when I am home still and not at work.
OMG csab - how awful! I hope you are OK. I know how scary it is cos I've fainted a few times in my life - enough that I now make sure I have my mobile close by at all times, even at home. Luckily I can now recognise the signs that I will faint and I can do something about it before it happens. Usually I end up sick with some virus a couple of days later. Obviously my body can't handle some viruses. The most scary for me was when I was on a train and I knew I was going to faint and was desperately trying to stay conscious so that I could get off at the next stop. I stumbled off the train onto a chair and passed out. Well.. how many people saw - many. How many people helped me - none. I was vomiting too. One woman threw a packet of tissues at me. Nice. I had to wait until I could sit up and talk and then called up my brother to come get me. Anyway, just trying to say I know how awful it is to feel that loss of control. I hope it doesn't happen again for you and I can imagine how scared you must be of driving again. It took me a while to get back on a train! I also nearly passed out a number of times while pregnant and kept thinking I hope someone would help me in my pregnant state if I actually did pass out! So it's good that people came to your aid. :)
Sami - You need a  too. Sorry to hear about your grandad. :( And hope your sick kiddies are better soon. And I hope Z picks up his eating soon. Is there anything he will eat a few spoons of? Is there some food he likes more than others?
Fluff - Go Jack. :)
Thanks so much Sami and Tanya, I'm still not 100% well yet but getting there. Spoke to the lady whose car a ran up the back of today and she isnt going to claim anything as there wasnt any damage to her car. Pheww!!! Huge load off my mind.
Sami - So very sorry to hear about your grandad too hun. I hope you are ok. What a week hey? I hope your kids are better soon too, I am hoping to get the two girls back too school tomorrow.
Tanya, I cant believe no one bothered to help you when it happened to you. Thats just disgusting. Those people should be ashamed of themselves. I honestlt couldnt believe how many came over to help me, and to make sure I and the kids were ok. I even said to the police and ambo's that you dont realise how many nice people are out there until something like this happens. I asked my DD"s school to make a special note in their school newsletter to say thankyou to those parents that came to help me. I hope they see it.
On a brighter note V has her second bottom toothj and her 1st top tooth come thru, her second top tooth is almost there too.
CSAB - oh my goodness how scary for you, I hope you feel better soon and I'm so glad to hear that the other lady is being nice - you don't need that being a hassle on top of everythign else. I also think it was lovely that all the parents from the school were helpful. Great about V's teeth tooth
Tanya - that's awful about ppl not helping you! One of my colleagues had trouble with that on the train when she was PG but she did get helped. I never fainted (nor came near) I was more likely to want to vomit on them lol... instead they just wondered why I ate so many fruit tingles, ha! Re Maya moving forward, X is the same, it's all sideways and backwards but nothing forwards lol. He gets frustrated sometimes but lots of rocking on all fours, hopefully not long now! Can Maya sit up on her own? X never gets up on his own like that, and I was wondering how many other bubs do?
SamiH - oh I'm so sorry to hear about your grandad  plus not being able to go :( i hope the sick kiddies are better soon too. Z's eating sounds sooo frustrating, I know how much I hated it when X wouldn't eat... hopefully he'll turn the corner soon?
How much is everyone's bubs eating?
X has come along in leaps & bounds after we took him back to purees, he's now wolfing it down luckily - but we've gotta tackle more texture and finger foods next! I'd really like to get him onto BLS next, I think he's probably pretty ready for it now, whereas earlier he wasn't. Because of his vomiting we were feeding him his solids before his bottle (at direction of paediatric dietician), which is not the normal way of doing things.... so now i'm worryign that he's gonna have too much solids? ok so mebbe this is my MIL getting in my ear again *sigh* he's either having too much or too little or the wrong thing or sleeping too much or sleeping too little. You get the picture... she means well but omg quit with the advice!!! Arrrrrgh :wall: Ok i feel better after that little vent.
belfie...in regards to feeding before bottles...it is not recommended...because milk/formular/boobie is the most important in the first 12months food should be offered after they have had their milk as it can interfere with them taking the amounts of milk they 'should' be having.
Jack can sit himself up now :) such a clever little man :) pulling himself up on EVERYthing!!!! opening cupboard doors, clapping & waving....such a clever boy (biased i know!!) eating anything & everything offered to him.
