katones.. ive spoken to matt about how u have done the cot thing. I think hes willing to give it a try!! ill let u know how we go :)
DP and Mia are in bed atm. We are having a "nothing" day here today so i told him to stay in bed.. watch the cricket and keep her nice and relaxed and i will do the house. So he was happy with that. Mia has turned into a daddys girl something shockin.. its abit depressing for me but i love to watch the bond them 2 have.
anyhoo off to get some potato cakes to have them on bread for lunch.. yum yum.. such a sunday lunch lol
mwah xoxoxox
Hollye..... since i have done that with the cot..Jack has slept in there :) the last 2 mornings he has woken up around 5/5.45am...give him his dummy til 6 then feed him and he goes back to sleep :D
Girls...after bub..this AF is HORRID!!!! NOT something you would want back in a hurry :(
I hope everyone had a nice Xmas with their bubs. :)
Sorry just a me post today cos I have visitors coming soon.
Normally I really like my ILs but I found them so annoying on Xmas Eve and Xmas day. They kept commenting on the fact that Maya was crying a lot and telling DH and I what we should do. And also making comments on how my nieces were never like that! Arghhh! It was really ****ing me off. DH stood up for me and Maya which was nice. And basically we knew the reason why she was crying so much was cos he has such a big family and she's not slept somewhere else before so it was all overwhelming for her. But they kept saying "oh she's got wind - you have to burp her". Sure enough as soon as we got home she's been settled again! I felt like a bad mum all Xmas day though. :(
My MIL also didn't believe us when we said Maya won't take a bottle. She was planning to baby sit Maya on Xmas Eve and actually cracked it at me when I said we were taking Maya with us. Anyway she went on and on at us for ages and finally I caved. Then she called us to come home early cos Maya wouldn't take a bottle! Derrrrrr! :wall:
I have noticed that Maya now doesn't like being held by anyone other than DH and I. I assume that means she knows her mum and dad now and doesn't like strangers.
Tomorrow we are staying at a nice hotel in the city. My hospital wanted me out early and gave me a gift to stay one night at a hotel as incentive to leave. Bizarre! Anyway, tomorrow was the only day I could find, before the voucher expires at the end of Jan, that DH and I are free and the hotel is available. We get late checkout and breakky included too. :) So just have to sort out dinner. And they have cots we can use so we are taking Maya with us. :)
tanya - dont let them get to you. IL's and parents and everyone you come in contact with LOL for that fact will always think they can parent your children better than you. I get the same - with ethan crying all the time, and he doesnt like being held by anyone but me and sometimes DH. I just tell people he has wind and a little reflux and he will be fine and move on. like it is any of their business.
As for the bottle. E wont take one either, and neither did DD for that matter. We went straight to a spouted cup at 7 months withDD and will do the same with DS.
But have a wonderful time away at the hotel. It sounds lovely! what a lovely break :)
HOllye - the cot is something you will learn for next time lol. DD would wake 3- 4 times at night to feed when she was a baby as she slept in our room up t 3 months. I put it down to we were waking her and she would wake us and rather than let them self settle would pick thme up thinking they are hungry when they are just farting or fussing to get comfy (like we do in bed ... well not the farting lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!)..
This time around i put DS in his cot in his room straight away and he started only have 1 feed overnight from 4 weeks and now will sleep all night. It is wonderful.
We dont even have the monitor on. i have the door shut. i figure when he is wanting me he will cry loud enough to let me know.
makes for a better nights sleep
Katones - see above lol.. and good work! i hope you get good sleeps in now!
As for AF i am still waiting... i am not looking forward to it as i havent had AF since sept 2006 ..... so will really be back with a vengence i think!!!
Well ethan sat in the upright seat of the the P&T pram today at the shops... ooooh he is growing up so fast. his neck muscles are really strong and pushing up on his arms.
Otherwise we are having a better day today ;)
hope all are ok and talk soon
Morning all..i hope everyone is OK...
PP...i have with my older 2 had them in my room for nearly 11/12 months in the first year..i won't have them in another room until they are just about 1. Then they go into a big bed, did it with the older 2 and had no probs..so that's how i am planning to do it with Jack :D
He has been sleeping in his cot now for just about a week.. and sleeping ALL night, which i am pleased about. Hubby and i are fairly noisy in our bedroom (getting up etc...) and it doesn't seem to bother Jack at all...
Poor lil man now has a cold...got a lil snotty nose :(
PP wow that's great that Ethan is now sitting up in the pram, I'm the same with Julian, I have the door closed(have to otherwise other boys go in) and I figure if he wants me he will scream, lol.
We had a great christmas, all the boys got spoilt and had heaps of food. I will have to upload some pics later on from christmas day, we had my brother and SIL over and it was great to catch up with them. My mum is suppose to be coming down on Wednesday so the boys will get some more pressies then. I think we will be trying to go to the beach or something on Thursday not really sure.
hugs xoxo
Just a flying visit - been so busy with visitors and Christmas etc - but popping on to lurk and catch up quickly if time permits at the end of the day.
We are all well, had a lovely week with family - and Zander showed off just how settled a baby can be - he has slept every night without trouble, and his day sleeps have been fantastic. Having said that, those with more than one know that this can change overnights so I am gunna have a brag whilst it is happening  His feeding though is a bit scrappy (hope that makes sense) but I just put that down to the hotter weather and visitors, and think if he was still hungry he would be screaming for more - and his nappies have still been a good colour and not green so he is getting some of the fattier stuff.
Why can I never type less than 10 lines??? :)
Will catch up soon!
Hi
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! Ours was busy busy - and now I've a chance to sit and reflect it seems I've come down with not just conjunctivitis but also some kind of sore throat thingy - just great timing with Dom deciding he's going to be very demanding today - probably me not being 100% is unsettling him or he's having a 12 week growth spurt or dare I air it but he's been dribbling heaps - hoping it's not teeth!!!
Anyways off to try and ring the Dr at evening clinic.... so long as there's not too long a queue there!!!!
Hey I am still around but stuggling big time at the moment. I read and lurk but typing anything is a bit much. Hopefully in a few weeks the antidepressants will kick in and normal life can resume but till then it is an hour by hour life! I do miss you all though and read often hope everyone had a good Christmas.
Howdy! Byron had his 4 month shots today.. The poor little thing, he's real grumpy. He's growing nicely. He weighs a wopping 6.75kgs. He's in the 75th Percentile for his corrected age & 50th for actual. So he's doing really well. Me on the other hand, I have mastitis again. Not feeling real great. Been in bed all day. Am on antibiotics. Also, I had this big black thing scraped off my leg, last monday, & pathology has come back that it's melanoma, but showing signs of regression. So now I have to get it cut out but cause it's so big (between a 5 & 10cent piece) I have to go to a plastic surgeon. I'm a little worried, but am sure it will be ok.
My in laws and DH's brother & his fiance are here so my house is full of people. Then my sister arrives with her family on New Years day so all pretty hectic. I still lurk everyday, just not posting much.
Caoi for now!
I am reading but have to go to bed now - just want to say I miss you all! Waaaaaahhhh. to you all who are having issues with bubs, poo to mastitis Georgi but WOW at your gorgeous 4mth old boy what a superstar!! :D We are great! Sleeping beautifully, feeding beautifully and waiting for some MCN to arrive, hopefully tomorrow! Very excited! Off to bed -Iz has decided 545 is a GREAT time to start the day. Funny that my toddler sleeps worse than my newborn - well not so newborn anymore! ;)
dont mind me, but i need to get this out...
DP has trust issues, mainly cos i left my ex for him BUT that doesnt mean that he has to be suspicious of my actions. he thinks that im out lookin & questions my actions. he thinks that im bein dodgy cos im all 'wrapped up' when i go out with him but dress in singlet (on a F'ing hot day!!) when out by myself. he always thinks im doin things behind his back and that things dont add up so it must mean that im out to see someone else. he believes 100% that ive cheated on him in the early days & brings it up every single time we have a fight. he made me SO mad last night that made me scream at him & even slap him. he even called dragon 'mistake' & me 'regret'...at least he's stopped sayin dragon isnt his. although he's not a romantic, but he's a sweet guy. its all cos of his habit...cant wait til there's an end to it *sigh* my family dont know this side of him & i dont want them to find out, so there isnt really anyone i can talk to...at least things are back to normal now, but it never feels right to fight with him. i know there's light at the end of the tunnel but we're takin a 3steps forward, 2steps back approach atm :(
Oh Teru!
I am so sorry to hear that you and DH are having these issues.
Is he getting help for his habit?
It is hard enough having a newborn but also getting in trouble for tryingto feel half human with make up on when out with your family is not fair.
I never wear makeup but the last few times i have put it on when out with DH, as i need to feel human and girly... not just a milkbar on legs.
Vent to us honey! we are here for you!
im not a makeup kinda girl, it was simply singlet & shorts to the shops down the road!
he sorta does have help, but he always find excuses. also doesnt help when his frieds support his effort. tbh he was doin good after baby was born, until his friend offered & then it gone downhill frm then. his excuse is that he needs to get the car in the garage out (its been majority of the yr).guess its partly my fault for being soft on him...BUT he promised to stay clean for 2009,:crossfingers: he can stick to it...
oh Teruteru, that sounds really tough, I'm sorry to hear it. Good luck with supporting DP through dropping his habit - does he have any other supports to help him do it? And venting is good, let it all out here - it's a good place for it
I don't have time for personals today - but have also been reading... g'day to everyone. We're having a BBQ catch-up with friends today - belated Xmas/NY catch-up, another friend dropping by this arvo, organised dog-walker this morning... then flying off to Tassie on Thurs to see my family. So it's all busy busy busy atm, but great fun.
I just did a bad mummy thing. Carefully shut the nursery door so dog & cat couldn't get in. 5 mins later hear muffled miaows... I'd shut the cat INSIDE the nursery! Oops!!!
Hope everyone is well and the gorgeous bubbas are happy little munchkins :grouphug:
Teru - HUGS!
belfie - yes them cats are a worry hay. Mines giving me the ****s atm.. mayb i should sell him on ebay? ---- note to self----- never NEVER get another white long haired cat that persists in rolling all over the carpet and leaving big clumps of its hair behind!
thats about it for me.. mwah xoxoxo
PinkPalace - Yeah I was getting so frustrated with everyone's advice on Maya! If I want advice I'll ask for it! Oh and I tried giving Maya a spouted cup, but that didn't work either cos she needs to be able to suck and that's the whole problem. So I might have to wait till she's older. I reckon Maya's neck muscles are quite strong now too. I tried sitting her a bit more upright in her stroller cos I thought she'd enjoy being able to look around more and she cried the whole time. :wall: So I'll go back to lying her down!
Georgi - Sorry to hear about the mastitis and the melanoma! :hugs: When you're feeling better - I've been wondering what words you are first teaching Byron in sign?
kat*am*i - How's Dom doing now? And hope you're feeling better soon!
amy - :hugs:
teruteru - :hugs:
belfie & hollye - I'm finding it hard having a cat now! Maya is constantly covered in the cat's hairs somehow and the cat is always getting in places she shouldn't be!
To everyone else: hello!
Last night DH and I went to stay at the Sofitel. :) We went for a nice long walk through the city and then got take away for dinner to eat in our room. Then we STRUGGLED to put Maya down for the night. Eventually we came to the conclusion that we couldn't have any lights on - which also meant we couldn't stay up cos we were all in the one room. Then I decided to take a book and read in the bath while DH played games on his phone. So not a very romantic get away. But I slept really well and getting room service breakky was very nice. :)
I've been feeling down lately about the fact that Maya won't take a bottle. I thought I'd be able to get out a bit more now but instead I feel tied down. And then saying that I feel like such a bad, selfish mum!
I also feel really down about the fact that I can't get Maya into bed before 10 or 11pm at night! It seems like everyone else's babies are sleeping from 7 or 8 till 6 or 7 in the morning! While I struggle every night to get Maya into bed. The good thing is she does sleep till 5 or 6 now. But I'm not usually in bed till 11 or 12 and I can't get her to sleep any longer once she wakes. So I'm still surviving on about 4 to 6 hours sleep (depending on when she goes to bed and wakes up and how long it takes me to fall asleep). Plus my ILs made me feel crap about the fact that I have to rock Maya to sleep all the time. I have tried getting her to settle using other methods, but nothing else works! I feel like I'm doing it all wrong. :(
Sorry bout the sob post. I am happy for everyone who's bubs are sleeping well and self-settling. I just wish Maya would do that too!!!!
