HOllye - Yay for the monitor hun! That is awesome news! Have you also considered a hammock? We just got one yesterday for our chucky straining/groaning little guy and it has been great - he is much more comfortable and is sleeping for up to 3 hours now instead of only 1-2 hours. You can hire them at Hire for Baby if you are interested!
We are doing well - Melbourne Cup today, so DH went to the TAB and placed bets on all the races so we will sit in front of the TV all day I think! Izzy has been throwing up all morning so it will definitely be a quiet one for us!
Chat soon lovelies- feed time!

KURAIZA I find I need to go to bed at 8.30pm in order to get 6 hours sleep. I would total 4 - 6 hours each night. I try to nap during the day. I only got 30mins today. But I'm coping much better than what I thought I would. I seem to be handling the lack of sleep really well.
PP Yay for the angel care. I hope it's working a treat for you. Geez Ethan feeds alot. Did your other kids do that? Does he feed for long? I would love to catch up with you for fish & chips one day. Just not a Tuesday cause I go to the clinic. You've got my mobile number hey?
TAN I hope Izzy is ok. How'd you go at Melbourne Cup?
Byron got weighed in again today. He has put on 270grams. He now weighs 4.7kg. He was really unsettled all morning. Thankfully he went down to sleep at 12.30, woke at 3.30 for a feed, then went back to sleep at 4.30 & is still sleeping. Poor thing. He must be so tired.
Off to cook dinner...

Amy - What a scare with the hospital trip! Good to hear that Bethany is OK. Oh and Maya was also jaundiced while we were still in hospital. It made her very sleepy and she didn't feed very well. Now the jaundice is gone, but she still falls asleep on my boob and doesn't feed well I think. I am constantly tickling her to keep her awake, so that she will feed for longer. Otherwise she just wakes up straight after a feed and wants more food.
curl - Thanks for the suggestions re using singlets to help with breast feeding in public. Now I just need to find a way to get to the shops so that I can buy some singlets.
csab - Unfortunately Maya lost a lot of weight (more than 10%!). The paediatrician wasn't worried about her though cos she started at a very good weight (4.01kgs) and she has remained chubby. She was weighed last week at 2 weeks and she was still under her birth weight (she was around 3.85 kgs). So I was told to stick with the feeding routine for now. The hard part is that she is always falling asleep on my boob.. so I never know if she's getting enough food. I'm really hoping at her next weight next Wednesday she'll have finally passed her birth weight!! I hope that Olivia starts stacking on some weight too!
kuraiza - I hope you are feeling better soon. And I understand what you are going through with sleep! I'm the same as you.. a light sleeper.. and it takes me ages to fall asleep after putting Maya to bed! :( I worked out I am probably getting around 7 to 8 hours sleep which is enough for most people. But I really need around 8 to 9 hours of unbroken sleep!
Welcome Blizz!
PP - I've tried expressing and if I do it straight after a feed nothing comes out. The most I've ever gotten out is about 20mls! I was hoping to express enough so that my DH could try a feed.. but if I can only get out 20mls at a time it'll take me forever to store up enough!
Hollye - Have you talked to a lactation consultant? They'll have some ideas to help you. How often are you BF? You might find that you need to BF every two to three hours for a few days to increase your supply.
OK... that's all the personals I can manage now. Sorry to anyone I've missed!!
Well yesterday was my first day on my own. My DH went back to work. It's definitely harder without someone around to help all the time. But I know I need to learn to take care of Maya on my own during the day.
Oh and I decided to try feeding Maya more on demand and see how often she feeds. And I reckon she actually fed a bit better that way because she was awake and ready to feed.. rather than me waking her and having her fall back asleep on my breast! She still did fall asleep though, but later than she does if I wake her. I still had to wake her once yesterday, otherwise she wouldn't have had enough feeds during the day, but I might try sticking to mostly feeding her on demand and see how that goes. I just hope she will have finally reached her birth weight again at the next feed!

Itsme. First day with DH back at work is hard isnt it. DH only got 1.5 weeks off this time (none with DD! lol)... sometimes i think i am seriously going to go insane - especially when both kids are screaming!
Georgi... i think i stil have your mobile. PM me just in case! DD fed 2nd hourly until 4months so yes a killer! DS feeds more at a time though than she did. He will take both breasts most of the time.
We have him down now for our first night on our belly. I am hoping he sleeps better. I guess we will see. :)

Itsme: At the moment I'd kill for 7 hours of sleep. :( Jude makes ghastly noises in the morning that wake me up. So I think I'm going to move him to his bassinet in his bedroom after the middle-o-the-night feed. He's going to have to wake up properly and cry for his feed if he wants to eat at 5am!
I was told in hospital that I had a "sleepy baby" and I had to wake Jude up to feed him (just one of the many dumb things the stupid night nurses poisoned my mind with), so for the first 2 weeks I was a basket case of nerves setting my alarm and waking Jude up which was the wrong thing to do, because I ended up feeding him less than I do now. I was like you, at one point I decided to stop the alarm and see what happened and wow, Jude did not choose to starve. Yesterday Jude demanded to be fed 9 times! Holy crow! At one point during the day I was feeding him every 1.5 hours, which meant I had about half an hour of downtime between feeds. Ugh! I hope that was a growth spurt, and a short-lived one!
Georgi: Please share your evening routine with me, because I try to go to bed early but it always ends up about 11pm before I can manage to climb into bed (after eating dinner, showering, feeding Jude, settling Jude etc).
PP: How on earth are you managing with all that feeding? I really hope it doesn't last long for you. That sounds really awful. I'm hoping Jude doesn't do a repeat performance of yesterday, but at least he slept decently at night.
Tanstar: Did you win?

Kur - tell me about it! id kill for 3 hrs sleep! lol
DD and DS both were up at 5am today. And i had DS screaming until 15 minutes ago - which makes DD scream and want to climb on me. I got to the point that i had to go into another room and close the door on her to get her to leave me alone for 5 minutes so i could settle DS or else no one would get any peace (vicious cycle of crying!!! - one sets the other off and so on!).
Well last night was 3 hrly feeds and we co slept.
NOw i have had my 5 minutes and i have to clean everything that DD has destroyed while i was ignoring her!

Arrgghhh we have a sick poppet here - Izzy has been throwing up all day yesterday and all night, and James wanted 2 hourly feeds over night since 3 (of course he did!) so we are all a bit weary today. Izzy has kept her brekky down but still has a fever poor poppet. Didn't win on the races either - DH seemed to pick all the donkeys! :p
Hope you are all well - reading but no time for personals right now.

hey girls.
had a fantastic day yesterday, Mia fed so well and was so well behaved. It was heaven. Tho... this morning im paying for it :wall: Just got her off to sleep and she has been feeding on and off for the past 2 hours. Im trying tactics atm to keep her awake for BFing and sitting her up and burping her seems to be doing the job atm.
Oh she has her first photo shoot today!! man i hope she is well behaved. I went and brought her this gorgeous outfit but im worried she wont be able to wear it coz its overcast here and doesnt seem to warm and the outfit is a spring one.. hmmm
i see u all talking about sleep.. hmmm whats that? something you eat? *sigh* lol
tan - i hope izzy gets better real soon and give james big kisses for me :) mwah!
PP- You are doing a GREAT job with ur 2 little ones. Keep up the good work sweety, i so would have cracked by now and been sent to the mental farm on top of the hill. Give urself some credit hun, u are a FANTASTIC mummy! give them kisses for me :) btw if u stay put we might be moving up your way sooner than i thought.. this place here is driving me nuts!
kuraiza - yeh i was told i have a sleepy baby too in hospital.. pfft to that!! i was also told to wake her up for feeds and i agree BAD IDEA! she wakes when shes hungry sometimes it can be in 5 hours sometimes it can be in 1 hour. She also makes some really odd noises and alot in her sleep and i was making the mistake of getting her up coz i thought she was awake etc but she wasnt, shes just a weird noise making bub. She has begun grunting real bad and some of the noises shes makes i ahve to remind her that its not very lady like! lol ur boy is gorgeous hun, keep up the good work!
oh btw Mia has another check up today.. her last weigh was last friday and she was 3580 grams (3520 born), so im interested to see what she has put on. Fingers crossed. so the photo thing is at 2pm and the appointment is at 4pm so even tho it doesnt seem like much its a busy day for us.
mwah to everyone else! xoxoxoxo

kuraiza - I just realised that I said that I get 7 hours of sleep but what I really meant I get 7 hours to lie in bed.. but I don't sleep all that time. I wish I was a good sleeper cos then I really would have around 7 hours of sleep. It takes me about an hour to fall asleep. I also get to bed around 11pm. I am a night person and find it so hard to go to bed any earlier. Last night I went to bed at midnight cos I just don't feel tired at night time! It took me about an hour to fall asleep. Then Maya woke around 3am, which woke me up but I didn't get out of bed till 4am. Then after putting her down at 5am I didn't get to sleep till 6am and she woke again at 8am! So that's really 4 hours of sleep but around 6 hours in bed. *sigh*
I was going to write more but Maya just woke for a feed! Gotta go.. will try and log back on later!

Itsme: ah yeah that sounds more realistic. :o
Hollye: What is with nurses and their sleepy baby paranoia? I can't believe you're doing photos. I don't have the strength. Also, Jude has cute little baby acne so no photos. ;)
Hmmm i might go peak at th september thread to see if thingswill improve for us all in the future.
sorry about my typing, i am feeding juyde and left-handed typing. too difficult.
-
lol we all sound so sleep deprived... bring on the 12 week mark... ( i remember things were so much easy by 12 weeks....) so the count down is on.
Well i finally got ethan to sleep at 1030 and he has been down for an hour (the previous sleep was distrubed by a volcano poo! lol).
Hollye - trust me i think this is the looney farm within these 4 walls... i swear if my neighbours were home and heard me they would think i was insane!!! When one is asleep it is fine. It is when both are crying at the same time that i think omg! whos idea was it to have 2 close together..... did someonesay vascetomy? lol
And!!! are you stirring or really making the move???? its warm and sunny :) hehehe
-
Time for a refocus on how beautiful our little babies are, what a miracle it is they are here with us - and how lucky we are that they are all healthy ..;)
Now, back to complaining re lack of sleep hehehe - yeah me too - between the 3 of them someone is nearly up all around the clock :)
-
Sami - I hear you! but admittedly it's through very tired eyes right now! I keep looking at Izzy and remembering her as a newborn and telling myself that "this too will pass". These bubs grow up SO fast and won't be newborns for very long and I keep telling myself that it's ok for him to sleep on us when he needs to!
 to all you sleep deprived mamas - it will pass and one day we will look back and wonder what the fuss was all about!! :)
-
OK back. I have Maya sleeping in a sling next to me, so I can jump back online.
kuraiza & Hollye - I also was told I had a sleepy baby by the mid-wives in the hospital and they told me that she was jaundiced.. though I could never see the jaundice! I was told I had to wake her and feed her regularly. I remember one night in hospital DH and I tried to wake her and she just wouldn't wake up! It took us such a long time and then she fed so poorly cos she was so tired! One mid-wife even told us that we had to put Maya near the window to help break down the jaundice. When the paediatrician came he asked why she was in the window and we told him a mid-wife had told us to do it. He said the jaundice wasn't that bad and she's a big healthy baby and that there's nothing to worry about. But I've continued to worry because every single mid-wife would look at her and say 'you need to feed her more' and it made me feel like I was doing wrong by her. Now that I am finally feeding on demand, she is feeding MUCH better!! I wish I had just kept with my feeding on demand from the start! The mid-wives also kept telling me I must not be feeding her properly, but then they would watch Maya attach and feed and tell me I was doing a great job! :wall:
Hollye - I'd love to take Maya for a photo shoot. I've been researching places to go online and everything seems to cost a fortune! I hope the photo session and check up went well!
All those with more than one child I am in awe of you all. I reckon one baby is hard enough! You are all doing great jobs juggling everything.

not much time...
photo's went well, she slept through them. We are getting them done through the chemist here. First Photo is free and others are about 5-$10. They are done through the Occasion Studios and they do them at the chemist for everyone, if that makes sense.
It is hard work getting out and about and Mia gets car sick which doesnt help. But im taking full advantage of it as Matt goes back to work on friday :( oh god what am i going to do!!
Check up went well.. she has put on 120 grms in 5 days. Not as much as she was putting on but its still a gain. shes now at 3700 grams (8lb 2oz). Her next check is next tuesday and her next photo shoot is 3rd december..woot woot.. hopefully it will be getting easier by then.
one TMI question for u ladies.. When did u stop bleeding? im still bleeding and its been 2 weeks. Ive been told it can last up to 6 weeks.. omg are they serious?
Kel - oh im serious...
-
Hollye - I had a c/s both times and I bled for 6 weeks, although only lightly, with Izzy and ths time around I am 2 1/2 weeks on and still have light loss so yep - can be 6 weeks lovely. :( Bugger hey.
-
hollye have you got one of those antistatic stips you can attach to your car that touches the ground?
do they still exsist?
-
thanks tan.. i think lol
wtf are u talking about kel?!?!? lmao..
