Can we just forward the day to tomorrow please??? It sure is a shi**y one here
My DD is being so demanding when I am feeding - attention seeking I know, probably seems like all I do at the moment is feed, try to get him to sleep, run to the toilet, run to the clothesline, maybe sneak a few minutes on BB :wall: get her some lunch and start all over again ....
Nearly school pick up time and still have to try and get Z to have a small feed before we go and get DD's shoes on and maybe go to the toilet myself !!
-
Katones: I feel the same as you. I feel really alone because I have no family anywhere near me. I am sick with gastro and I don't have any energy but Jude is crying all day and just wants to comfort suckle, it's the only way he'll relax. Actually, he's having a catnap right now which is the only reason I have any downtime, but he weed and vomitted all over my bed so I had to wash the sheets, and I had to let him bawl and scream while I did that so I felt terrible and like I am the worst mother in the world because I don't know why he's crying. So I cried and rubbed his tummy because I didn't know what else to do, then he gave up in the end and fell asleep.
Itsme: I finally just got dressed, mainly because I was tired of being covered in vomit. Not all babies take dummies, some won't drink from bottles either. Does Maya really not like a car drive? That's one trick we have as a final straw to get Jude settled, but if he's hungry the car trip becomes hell.
You are all right about a 6-week growth spurt. When we took Jude to the Paediatrician he was weighed. Before this week he gained around 200-220g a week, but last week he gained 400g. It is tiring and it's really really hard. I also can't help lamenting that my once-perky perfect breasts are now saggy sacks covered in purple stretch marks. I feel like a cow.
Jude slept wonderfully last night, a big change from the night before (5 hours of sleep then another 5 hours of sleep), but I had terrible insomnia from 1am all night. Why????
-
Woohoo.. Maya has now been asleep for 70 minutes! The problem is I feel like I can't get much done with her next to me. I can't even get dressed at the moment. Might have to get dressed straight after the next feed because I really would love to get out and go for a walk and don't really feel like going around in my PJs!
kuraiza - Ohh I hope you're feeling better soon! Yeah Maya does like the car as long as it's moving. As soon as I stop she screams. And whenever I have her in the car I swear I stop at every single red light and get caught in horrible traffic so she spends a lot of time screaming! :wall: Hmm.. or it probably was always like that and I just didn't notice it before!
I'm currently looking online at places to move to, so that I'll be closer to family and friends! But I don't know when I would have the time to look at anything, pack and move! I think moving would be so hard right now, but I am really lonely where we currently live and want to be closer to friends and family so that I have company plus help!
-
i didn't really take into account my medication i am on...it can cause LOW supply of milk in breastfeeding mums...and i didn't think about it til now, and just researched it abit more. nothing i can do about the low supply (meds will keep it low) i can't get back into see my specialist until next month...
-
katones - can u try and take some fenugreek to boost it while on ur meds? I have 3/4 of a bottle left over.. im more than happy to send it to you.
-
itsme - where are ur friends and family? come with me.. im moving to QLD next year, tho its to get away from all my friends and familY! lol tho im hanging out to meet some BB queenslanders!
-
I have just rung my GP and he said that fenugreek WON'T increase my supply with the meds i am on...so shall just soldier on.. and supplement if i have to
-
hollye is moving to brisbane to live near me lol - come on tell the truth you know you are lol!
itsme. I moved house when ashley was 3 months. it is actually easier then when they are older(we moved again at 7 months) - get yourself a sling or carrier for the cleaning and it will be easy ! :)
Kat - perhaps just express more often to increase naturally!
-
I'm a BB qlder. Actually I'm a relocated Sydney-sider. I don't really know diddly-squat about QLD.
It sounds like we're all having similar days today. it's stinking hot here, is it hot elsewhere? Lucky for me my husband came home early from work and he's like a miracle worker with Jude, can soothe him easily where as I struggle to soothe him unless he's attached to my chest.
What format does Fenugreek come in? Is it pills or tea?
-
kur - are you anywhere near georgi?
-
yes we're very close, but we haven't met because i can't get out of the house. but georgi is supermum! she's doing a stroller walk at 8am. 8am! i am in a total state of disrepair at 8am!
-
HOLLYE - I'm a Queenslander too. Same as Kuraiza, re located from Sydney.
Lol KURAIZA I'm certainly no super mum. I tell ya... Today I'm having a shocker.
I'm so tired & so impatient. Not like me at all. I just couldn't be bothered doing anything. My house is a mess & I just want to sleep. Just as I lay down for a nap Byron woke up & wouldn't re settle. The only thing I could do (after 30mins of trying) was feed him. He's normally quite routined but seems to want to feed 2 hourly today. It so damn hot here, so I'm guessing that's why. He seems settled now. I have in his rocker, looking out into the back yard, giving him nature time.
PP - I can't explain what the Kinesiology is. I googled it but it only explains the benefits. The actual treatment was strange. I was the surrogant for Byron so she did the work on me. I guess it's kinda like Reiki.. New age stuff.
I have just jinxed myself. Wwhhaaaaaaa! Gotta attend to the crying baby
-
georgi (hello kogarah girl lol!!!)... i do the same with ethan put him in his bouncer and face out the window lol!
Thats it hollye you have to move now!
omg all this time i have been giving Ethan a orthodontic dummy and no luck for longer than 30 sec - just gave him a big latex cherry and wammo!!! sucking away!
-
Hi all,
Itsme - When mine started making out they were choking on the dummy, I took it as a sign that they didnt want it. So never gave it to them again. Thankyou about Olivia, thankfully she did put on some weight. Woohoo. How is Maya? Hugs
Georgi - So glad Byron is doing OK, I put OlivIa in the rocker alot, yet alot of the time she just wants me to hold her. Today in the morning she was chucking a tanty while in her rocker as soon as I picked her up she turned her head to the TV and watched the cartoons, then Puzzle Play, hehehe. Wasnt even interested in the Boobie.
Well hope everyone is doing well, it has been so hard getting on here lately, so busy!!!! Everytime I come on here she starts, and has been awake more often thru the day as well. So not much me time. hehehe. I dont mind tho, she is such a cutie. Well for the good news, my little Olivia has finally hit her birth weight of 2380gms. Woohoo, cant believe it took 5 1/2weeks for her to do it, but she did it. I was so worried she was going to lose weight this week after the bottle episode, throwing it all up. Her rash is still there but have cream to put on her 3times a day, so hopefully it will get better in the next few days. Anyway Olivia is crying again, so better go off and see what she wants. hugs all.
-
Well we are in a bind again, same thing happened when he was about 3 wks old ...
I swear he has only had 4x 30 minute naps today - not much at all. So, vicious circle of being over tired (somehow, not through lack of trying!), and then when he decides to have a go at a feed, being too tired to feed properly, falling asleep just after the let-down, waking as soon as I move, and then another 3 hours goes past and I wonder how on earth he is surviving on that piddly little amount from the last feed.
We went out to DS1 school fair, he slept in pram for 10 minutes and then just looked around with big red eyes - still cracking an occasional smile little bugger. He fed very poorly at 6.20, stopped sucking after about 3 minutes and fell asleep, so I put him into his cot at 6.40 - and he is still groaning and moaning but unless he has a hissy, I AM NOT getting him up, he needs some sleep in an effort to feed properly.
He will not take a bottle when tired so can't even entertain idea of a first time comp feed or something ... obviously he is not hungry though ... oh heck I just don't know - see, and this is my third!! :wall:
Hate days like this when nothing gets done, I feel like I have neglected my little girl, and am now a cranky mother and wife at this time of night ... :crying::crying::crying:
Itsme - well you have tried and done what you can to get her to take a dummy, unless you try a different shape like PP just posted ...
I'm laughing about getting out of the house by 8am - I remember my first mothers group time was 9.30am with DS1 and I thought what a bad time that was and how on earth are we supposed to be organised and actually get there by that time!! Now I can get DS1 dropped off at before school care and DD to child care and home again by 8am on those lovely 2 days of just Zander and I - but of course without a shower
FWIW - all my family are in Melbourne/Ballarat too.
Let this day finish!
-
Hollye - My friends and family live in Melbourne, as well as me, but we live on totally opposite ends of Melbourne so it's a two hour drive to see any of them. I do have new friends where I live now, but none of them have kids. All my friends with kids live two hours away! And where I'm living we can't have people stay with us cos there's no room! So I want to move closer to help and people to visit during week days! When are you moving?
PP - Ohh.. maybe I should try a different type of dummy too!
csab - That's great news that Olivia has reached her birth weight! I keep being curious how much Maya weighs now, but her next weigh isn't until she is 8 weeks.
Well.. I finally got dressed at 4pm, did a feed and went for an hour long walk. I grabbed my ipod and cranked up the music. It was very soul soothing! And now DH is home I passed off Maya to him and had a lovely shower. OK.. now to sort out something for dinner.
-
PP - yeh Mia wouldnt go near the fancy dummies.. spits them out too. She like the tommee tippee big chunky ones. She wont take any others.
Question for u girls.. I think Mia has thrush in her mouth. SShe has little white lumps in her mouth. How do i fix it? wat do i do? is it hurting her?
-
areyou sure it is thrush and not milk residue? if it is just the tongue and not the rest of her mouth i would say that is what it is.
Try a little h20 after a feed to wash away.
Otherwise make sure you are cleaning bottles teats and your nipples well with warm soapy water as this is where the thrush will thrive. And get some nilstat from you dr to clear it up.
But i would say it is milk residue hun! :)
-
nope.. it is thrush. she has white lumps on the inside of her mouth too like at the sides and i tried scraping the residue off with a damp face washer and i gave her water and nothing changed
i sterilzed allllll the bottles and my expresser today.
-
also i dont have a doc appointment till monday arvo.. is there anything i can get from the chemist in the morning?
-
Hollye just go to the chemist and ask is there anything they can give you, I think you can get dakadin(sp?) or nilstat over the counter.
 to everyone, it sounds as though it's been a rough day all round.
PP If you friends mum thought it was caotic with just Ash running around then she would be mortified if she ever met me, lol. I'm much the same as you, as long as I can see the boys and they aren't in harms way then I'm fine with that.
DH has booked a hair appointment for me tomorrow at 10am, so will be pampered for about an hour and he will watch the 5 boys. I'm so tired so will be back on tomorrow.
hugs xoxo
-
thanks Amanda!
we should definately get together one day and let the kids run amuk! lol
HOllye - you need to make sure you clean right to the tip of the teats with warm soapy water well before sterilising. But yes Nilstat is usually what is given for oral thrush. You just put a few drops into their mouth :)
-
thanks girls.. geez no one told me being a mum we freak out about EVERYTHING!
PP - im going to replace all my teats today anyway as i heard once they get abit of thrush on them u cant really get it off and its not worth keeping them. Its ok they arnt very expensive.
Kuraiza - fenugreek are pills. they taste bad enough as it is, no way i could have it as tea.
good night here.. freezing cold tho! what the hell is the deal with this weather.. brrrrr
Mia fed at 11:30pm and 4 and thats it.. shes still asleep now. About to go cough loudly to try and wake her tho coz we need to go out and i like to let her tummy settle for atleast an hour before getting in the car!
so off i go.. talk soon xoxoxo
-
oh my goodness what was happening yesterday? You were all having crazy days!
I went to the hairdresser with my MIL (arrrgh :wall:) but I can't complain too much cos I got a lovely colour to hide those new mummy-greys! X was also very VERY wide awake yesterday but wasn't unhappy, just bright-eyed and busy tailed. Smiled at everyone in the hairdressers (except MIL HAHAHAHA!) and then also wide-awake early evening... then after 8pm small feed... slept till 5.30am!!!! OMG I knew he'd be tired, but wow.
Had my LC out earlier this week (while sis & fam were visiting - so was crazy busy, but great fun! shame she had to go home ). Anyways, LC confirmed what I suspected... BF'ing just ain't working for us - inverted nipples & nipple shield, plus high palate, plus very snorty mouth-breathing baby who breaks attachment about every 4 sucks!!!! So we're sticking with the expressing & bottle and trying for 1-2 BF's per day just to keep our hand-in, but not as our major method of feeding cos he just gets sooo frustrated and feeds were taking waaaay too long (and most of the milk ended up out not in!). I've also got extra bits & bobs so I can double express which is AWESOME! I'm getting heaps more in 1/3 the time!! I just need to buy a pump now so I can return the hired one (it'll be too expensive otherwise) and we'll cross our fingers that as he grows, our BF'ing might get better. I'm determined to hang in there and giving him boobie juice as long as possible & so is DH - so it helps that he's supportive. On the bright side, DH (and my sis when she was here) can bottle feed him which is really nice. I think X loves it cos he always gives his daddy lotsa huge smiles :loveshower:
But I'm still grateful cos even though our BF'ing has been kinda cactus, he's such a cruisey little dude! I've uploaded some more pics (I'm addicted) of my handsome little pudgy man!
Sorry - I'll catch-up on personals later... but having been following how you're all going - and seriously, surely today HAS to be better?!
Cheers,
Belfie
-
ok my decision has been made. I had a big talk last night with DP and this is what we are going to do. Im going to express 1-3 times a day so she can have 1-3 BM bottles a day. The rest will be formula and once or twice a week i will try and re attach her to the breast. We are going to take tit nice and slow and hopefully if my supply favours me i will be able to wean her gradually off the bottle and formula all together. I feel much more at peace with this decision coz she is still getting full feeds from my breastmilk. hope that makes sense.
-
Hollye i have given up the boob :( sad to say.. but honestly i can't watch Jack scream because he is constantly hungry.....and i have rock boobies at the moment.... and a nice tight bra on.....soreness is slowly going...
-
katones - Hugs! U have made the best decision for bub, dont beat urself up. Are u weaning him off slowly or have u just stopped. The only problem with just stopping is u may get blocked ducts or even mastitis. AAfter a FF mayb put him on both sides for a minute or so to get rid of that built up milk. Your body will soon realise not to make much and then it will stop.
Went to the chemist. Seems Mia does have oral thrush. He gave me some drops to give her. 1ml 4 times a day.. gave her the first dose at 12:30pm and oh my.. she wasnt impressed. She got herself worked up, overtired and she was hungry. So she fed after it and i tried putting her back down but she had other plans. Lots of rocking and a nice warm bath she finally went to sleep at 3pm. Its true, they can be so difficult when they are over tired. It doesnt help that Mia WANTS to stay up as she so curious and just loves looking at things and people and she fights her tiredness. By the end tho, she does give in to it.
Got some new teats today and went to big W and they have the box's of nappies for $32 so i grabbed another box. Shes still in newborn size but i got the next size up coz we got lotsa newborn ones and i think give it a week or 2 and she wont fit in them anymore.
anyway while shes sleeping im gonna go get some housework done.. looks like a bomb has hit this place!!
-
nope i just stopped..
i did this with my DD when i weaned her.. and just used cabbage leaves...and panadol.
which reminds me.. hubby forgot to get me cabbage at shopping this morning. must go and get some...
-
lol ive heard about the cabbage thing.. what does it actually do?
-
Hollye and Katones you've both done what is best for you and your bubs, it's such a hard decision, I know I've BTDT, big  to you both, I hoope that your boobies adjust quickly.
Well I got my hair chopped off nice and short and already it's bliss, so much lighter and not as hot on the back of my neck, got some nice foils in as well. Will have to get ready soon for the BB dinner, I'm so looking forward to getting out of the house with just Julian and DH and will be great to meet some more BB girls.
hugs xoxo

Much better day
Good afternoon
*sigh* - much better day today ... actually surprisingly a good night too - after his piddly 6.20ish feed and bed, he slept until 2am which really surprised me, I thought he would be starving waaaay before then. Then he fed again at 5.30am, back to bed at 6am and then woke at 9.40am! So he definitely caught up on yesterday's lack of sleep, and wasn't really that cranky or anything .... fingers crossed another good night tonight.
We have been out and about doing things so he has been grabbing sleep in the car/pram but has been in the cot now for about 45 minutes so that is great too. I have expressed off 150ml for tomorrow's bottle, and still got 100ml this morning as well - having probs with him taking a bottle when he is over tired etc which is weird cos easier to get milk than the boob. But, he took 70ml bottle happily this morning and then boob, I just want him to get used to taking the bottle so i too can get to the hairdressers!!! So tomorrow we will try him with a full EBM bottle to make sure he will take a full feed from it first before I make the appointment, and a dental appt too ....
Amanda - have great fun tonight - I too wanna get my hair cut shorter, currently quite long mid back kinda, but I wanna go short too - do I have the courage .... ????
belfie - good to hear from you. Sorry the b/f has been a PITA - but you have worked through it all really well. I'm still hanging in there and like yesterday have a crapola day occasionally but on the balance we are ok with it all at the moment. My little Z gives all his smiles to our kids and so mummy and daddy only get a couple a day ... but the kids love it and rub it in!!
katones - how is Jack's tummy? Going straight to FF hasn't given him pains from having to digest formula all at once?? More importantly, I hope you can roll over in bed tonight and won't be too sore ;)
Hollye - sounds like you are on a good plan with decreasing your feeds to look after yourself. Sooo time consuming expressing, but it is worth it if you can do it gradually.
Gotta finish dinner :)
-
Believe it or not we are still around!! There just hasn't been time! Bethany is going great although like most of the babies seems to be really unsettled lately, must be that 6 week faze the books mentioned!! She wants to be awake and doing things but get bored and then over tired well I am sure you all know the story. Andrew is back at work and for awhile we had a good routine happening...lately though it has been hour by hour. I had my 6 week check and my iron is still shockingly low after my post partum hemorrage so I guess that isn't helping. And to add to all this the wet season has started it is hot and muggy and miserable....Gee I am just a ray of sunshine aren't I!! It was good to read and see how all your bubs are going. Hopefully I will get better at getting on more often, we have our Ergo carrier now and Bethany is quite happy for mummy to have computer time if she is in her Ergo!
Well I might try for a nap...
-
ahhh quite a good day here. She hasnt been any trouble at all! Shes not liking the thrush drops but shes gotta have them. They are cherry flavoured but that doesnt make a difference to a newborn. I expressed 80 mls earlier, so i still have plenty of milk which is good. Her next feed will be full EBM so im hoping it goes well. Need to get another 20 mls in that bottle first for my lil piggy!
Shes in her bouncer next to me atm, happy as larry. We just went outside to catch a little sunshine (only about 2 mins of it) and she loved it. She really enjoys being outside. got too cold tho.. bummer! Im hoping that this expressing is going to keep my supply up enough........ it should and when she goes back on the breast my body will start producing more again yeah?
Belfie - good to hear ur having a good day! and woohooo on a good night. I thought Mia feeding at 11:30pm and sleeping till 4am was good lol she had a feed about 8:30 before that. All in all she usually does about 4 hours between feeds but during the day she can feed every 2 hours. Depends on the day and her really. Im lovin the little double chin shes got :)
amy_o - im not sure if we have met? wow that 6 weeks goes quick doesnt it. Mia will be 6 weeks in 1.5 weeks! gotta organise my check up too.. *sigh* I have an appoitnment on monday for the pill but its gonna have to be the mini pill now as im still expressing. did u have to have a pap smear for ur 6 week check? what exactly did they check?
anyhoo my little princess is sound asleep in her bouncer now.. hrmmm wondering if i should just leave her there or put her to bed?? shes smiling in her sleep lol must be a good dream! a pic of her right now.. asleep.. yes her hair permantley sticks up like that!! - - https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...3&ppuser=13682
mwah xoxoxoxoxoxo
-
Well I'm incredibly jealous of you all for having a good day because almost every day for me is terrible. Jude is just impossible to settle during the day, sometimes he crashes but then only sleeps for 1/2 an hour. He's better at night, but I've had insomnia lately that sucks.
Does anyone else have excruciating back pain? I can't hold Jude up to feed him or rock him in my arms to sleep because I am crying in pain and I don't know what to do. I have to feed him lying on my side but I don't think he feeds very efficiently that way.
-
oh i hear ya on the back pain.. i struggled bathing her today! being 6ft doesnt help! things will get better sweety im sure of it!
-
My check was to see if my scar had healed (yep) and to have to implant inserted (ouch! BTW you should see the brusie it is a beauty!) We also went over all my blood work cause I had a heap of it done for the visit to check my liver functions and that the gestational diabetes had gone (which it had) I should have had the pap smear done too but ended up having a converstation about future pregnancies with my GP(didnt like that converstation...because of the complicaitons with the birth and the last trimester, no more for me, i guess you never say never but that is how things stand for the time being.) so ran out of time! I have to go back though for more bloods so I will do it in a month or so. Otherwise just general checking on how I was going.
-
Hollye & Katones - You've made the right decision for yourselves on BF!
Amanda - Have a great time tonight.
belfie - It sounds like you are doing really well despite your BF problems! That's so great that you made it out for a hair cut. I still find it hard just getting out of the house.
Amy - Good to hear from you again. :)
kuraiza - Maya also barely sleeps during the day. :( I find weekends much easier to deal with though cos I have DH home and an extra pair of hands. Oh and I suffered from an EXTREMELY sore back for the first 3 weeks after birth. I finally went to see my osteo and my back is so much better!
Well.. today I bought one of those big cherry dummies and nope Maya doesn't suck on them either. She does take them in her mouth, holds them there and then pushes them out. Ah well.. I think I'll give up trying to give her a dummy. It's just not meant to be. I'll have to continue coming up with other settling strategies.
-
:wall::wall: Aarrrhhhgggg!! My daughter is possessed I am sure of it.
Since yesterday what had been just the general unsettles has become a nightmare. She wants to be held all the time (bless Ergo) and feeds every 2hours a full feed too. When she sleeps well IF she sleeps it is for about an hour then we are wide awake again, sometimes you can settle her back other times nope. Is this a growth spurt? Do I need exorsist? Thank goodness DH is here but he works tomorrow and I am terrified of how I will cope alone with her like this. I have already spent most the night crying cause I can't settle her. :( What can I try? What has worked for you? Or is it a case of ride it out?? I did try explaining to her that the Geneva Convention bans sleep deprivation as a form of tortore so why is she using it....she just grinned at me the little brat!
-
shes in her "6 week growth sprurt stage" amy. just stick it out, it will pass.
-
I had a feeling that would be the case...better than paying for an exorsim at this stage. It is just sooooo frustrating!!!
