Oh, Erybery :( The Zantac might help her, I hope it does. Meanwhile, have a read of this, it's from the ABA website, so I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to link it without infraction! Also, paeds aren't breastfeeding experts, IBCLC accredited Lactation Consultants are, so I'd be recommending you hire one of those before you switch from boob to formula, hun. They cost about $100 and are worth their weight in gold...cos you'll spend a whole lot more than that on formula and an LC may avert that scenario. If not, it's a hundred dollars you know you spent seeking all options  BB is the right place to be for all us mummies right now, cos there's gonna be so much conflicting advice coming your way from paeds, GPs (who do not have any BFing training), MCHN's (if you're lucky, you'll get one who's an IBCLC LC, too, like I did!!) and midwives. Here on BB we have Barb Glare! And MantaRay, who's a BFing counsellor with ABA :) Actually, you wanna post about this in the BFing support thread? Barb will see it and respond as soon as she can, she's a good egg. As for stretching out her feeds - this alarms me. I'd be speaking to an LC or ABA counsellor before implementing that kind of routine if you've been feeding on demand thus far. Maybe try posture feeding, too - where you sit up, or reclined, so that she's upright and taking in less air with the feeds. Tallarah has a better sleep if I do that, or I have to stand with her in the sling till the air is out of her :(
Cruisy day here - Tallarah is the antithesis of the DS experience. For many reasons, and I'm thinking one of them is disposition.
Well, DS is finally asleep and DP is at brigade, so I'd better get myself ready for bed and Buffy on the laptop :)

Erbery - Ive actually had 2 lactose intollerent baby's, both Ethan and Lilli. Lilli was by far the worse, she went throug a whole 108 box of newborn nappies in her first wk :(
I was worried Evangeline would be to, however the pedi i saw suggested i try expressing the first milk out, as it is higher in lactose, that way i can still breastfeed and she is getting the good fatty hind milk. I don't do it every feed, actually only do it once or twice a day. It really seems to work with Evangeline :D She hasn't got as much wind as she did in her first wk, and only poo's 3 times a day atm  She feeds still every 2hrs, lol, she's my little piggy. Its very hard to know what to do for each child, it would be nice if they came with their own little manual ;)
Mayness - heheh that would have been funny, 2 Evangelines. My husband actualy calls her Angel for short :D
Question: Im not very confident with BF myself, how do i actually know when my breast is empty?? And does anyone's elses baby feed of both breast or just the one??
-
Maya I am loving your new av!! Absolutley gorgeous.
Erybery how comfusing for you. I hope that you can continue to BF Ella.
Rach DD feeds mostly off one breat but occasionly goes for a second about 15 min later. My DD feeds for about 10 min, I know its empty when it seems she wants more but wont go back on the same breast.
DD fed at 1-pm last night then woke at 2am but didnt want a feed and didn't wake until 8am. Have been trying to take photos of her today while DS is out but she wont stay asleep the cheeky monkey.
-
Hugs to you, Ery  I hope that you can find a solution here and you can keep BFing...you're a brave and strong woman- if anyone can make this happen, you can.
We went to the clinic today and Liv has put on 200g over her birth weight which is comforting..makes the bleeding, grazed nipples and excuciating pain all worth it :shakehead: Turns out we've had a little attachment issue which I saw an LC about this morning and think we may solved by feeding her in a diff position... under my arm with her feet pointing backwards (football hold??? not sure what it's called) but it feels better.
I'm laying off the Lansinoh cos it's keeping them too moist and not allowing them to heal. Im also using Witchhazel after a feed and airing them. Any other ideas or experiences???
Rach- DD is just on one breast at the moment...I don't know exactly when it's empty- when my boob feels all squishy...I just assume that we're there...not very scientific and prob incorrect! (Actually, I'm the one with bleeding nipples so maybe don't listen to me..)

Yay a baby buddies group!!!!
im back now thank god, was going absolutely crazy without my computer!!!!!
so glad we're just about all mummies now, sending a tonne of labour vibes cams way!
havent read the whole thread will soon just wanted to add my piece.
Rach DD is almost 6 weeks old and still only takes one side, very very occasionally she'll have a little go at the second but not for long, and she's stacking on the weight, i was worried too, but if the weights going on, then bubs is doing something right!!
BF is going well for us atm, the only thing getting to me is that im the only one that can tend to her in the middle of the night, she wakes 3 hourly almost to the exact minute, but it would be nice if adam could get up just once and take care of her while i get some decent sleep!!
other than that, she's going really well, her eyes are very focused now and we got a real half smile out of her the other which was awesome!!
DD1 is still loving her sister to bits and is still being well behaved, going to try toilet train her soon, will be interesting!!
will be back to catch up soon.
Missed u all soo much
xxx

Hi girls just a quick one before I attempt bed lol Hope everyone is getting their bf issues sorted....hopefully the settling in process will be shortlived and they will all finf their groove soon.
Every nappy is a bright yellow pooplosion with Laicee is that a bad thing?????
HAB is still working its magic yay
Anyone heard from Cam today....could that mean a ba is on the way????
Heres to a decent sleep for all the tired mummies xxxx Except Oz lol miss Zoe is a legend xx
-
Nina- yep, ours our bright yellow, too.
-
Lovely yellow pooplosions here too lol
-
We've got bright yellows poops going on here too!
just thought i'd add, i know Izzy is well and truley a september baby, but im staying with you lot!
Last night was another poo poo night, hoping she realises that dark time is sleep time soon! she had a particularly clingy day yesterday so i order a close carrier, i have a peanut shell but finding it a bit....wobbly i guess would be the word and i just feel like she's going to fall out of it, so went with something upright and tighter, so i can fully go hands free, wth the peanut shell i find i still have one hand on her so she doesnt tip or something! might sell it, not sure yet.
Body wise feeling good, boobs are well settled but having painfull let down and still leaking like all hell! but can proudly say i've been breastfeeding for almost 6 weeks!!!
Still bleeding down stairs which suprised me, it was well and truley gone at 4 weeks with charlotte!
got our check up next week, yay for me, smear test and all  but its only every 2 years i guess? although i think i've had enough speculums(sp?) up in that area for one year!!
already thinking about number 3, kinda feel like i was cheated out the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy with Iz....is that stupid?
-
Wow Skye! Cant believe you are thinking of another one already - I used to want m kids close together but now I've decided I want a BIGGGGGG gap! hehehe
V - hope the BF pain goes away soon
Nina - Bright yellow here too! when does it change? get thicker etc???? Can't believe we are discussing POOP!
Oz - Sleeping 2-8, thats sounds wonderful
May - That is the coolest Ava I've seen!
Rach - I usually do both BB's but the second one she doesnt feed from as long. My BB's dont feel hard ater feeding so thats when Im assuming she's done.
Cam and LJ - Can't wait till you join us in here
AFM and Ella - She is having a better day today, tried cosleeping after the 6am feed today as she would not settle in the bassinett and "surprise" she was out like a light curled up between DH and me, so now Im not so scared that I will roll on her as we all woke in exactly the same positions.
Hve bought the zantac so if she begins to get unsettled later on today I will give it to her t see if that helps. Since I have not been eating any dairy (and laso just been eating really plain food) there seems to be a bit of improvement in sleeping and settling, but who knows?? could just be a coincidence. Will get her stool sample on monday to send to the lab to get tested for lactose intolerance. Am feeling heaps better about continuuing to btreastfeed now as have read lots of articles so am going to persist as I really feel this will be best for her in the long run.
-
Erybery glad things are looking up. It is pretty common for dairy to affect as BF bub (same with sugar and caffine), hopefully the Zantac helps and you can just eat dairy after a feed (like having a wine). We cosleep most of the night, I think as mum, even when your asleep you just know where they are and wont roll on them. I have a bed rail (the ones for toddlers beds) on my bed and Z sleeps in between that and me, so I dont have to worry about DH forgettign she is there.
Skybie what colour CC did you go with? I love my choc brown one and so does Z. Woo hoo on BF for 6 weeks it really is a great acheivement.
V I hope the boobies heal up soon, I always gave mine plenty of air. I fed Logan football hold (coz of my big boobies) for lots of feeds while he was little and spent loads of feeds laying down.
All good here, the midwife came out this morning and Z is stacking on the weight. All good so wont see her for two weeks now. DH starts his 2 weeks leave this afternoon which I am sooooo looking forward to.
ETA CAm must have had her bub, I hope it all went smoothly and we dont have to wait to long to hear the news.
-
I wish I knew what was happening with Cam!
Lots of sling action in our thread - loving my two slings so much.
Still got too much milk and trying to get DS to limit his feeds, at least until things are settled for Tallarah - particularly at night when there is so much been forced down her little gullet and she bunches up her belly and can't sleep :( I'm sick of lumpy boobs!!
Ery - good one
Got my parents coming this weekend (not staying at our place), so have to give T up for some holding :( I still feel like I'm getting to know her and it gets better and better every day. I don't want rellos to think it's now a free-for-all to hold her - it's just little holds so that they can get their kicks (which I don't get at all, I've never been a baby-cuddler and never got clucky seeing a baby and still don't - which is why I find it easier to 'practice what I preach' about baby-holding, I suppose!), get them off my back and get my baby back as soon as she starts making noise.
Speaking of which, she's making noise now, so I better get back to her and press 'play' on Buffy whilst DS is out at BILs!

Hi gorgeous mummies...
Just droping quickly to say hi!!! Will back for presonnels - gotta go and try settle Aiden for a sleep............now that Charlotte is finally asleep!
-
hi girls, just a post to say hi, i am so far behind the eight ball on here it isn't funny.
nice to see a new name welcome rach!
absolitely loving miss jade, however this motherhood thing is quite trying and tiring, i may not post as much as i want to till i get organised... hmmm no such thing i think!
but am loving it all and cant believe the emotions etc that come over u, the feeling of creating a little person.... so special.
well im off to get ready for our next feed, oh and maya i loved the idea of trucking milk up, i dont know why they dont have something where this can occur... those 9 days without milk were just a horror... nothing but worry about whether bubs getting enough food etc...
well im off, hi to everyone, hopefully i will get myself back here soon and be able to catch up on all ive missed!
-
Morning all, first post as a mum:D Can't believe my little man is 4 days old!
Erybery - that is horrible, how long until the test results are known?
So I will catch up on everyone else later just wanted to have a little gush over how much I love little Lukie. When DH comes to the hospital later I will try and get some photo's up on facebook so you cna see his cute fat face.
Will try and post a birth story soon but just in case the day 3 blues kick in soon I just want to type how wonderful he is and also how great my DH has being. He wasn't overly involved in the pregnancy and this was a bit of an accident but he is the most besotted dad. Absolutely in love with his little son and has taken a trillion photo's. Little Luke dosne't seem to like sleeping from around 9pm to midnight and has just being screaming and DH has being taking that shift so I can get some sleep. He is really doing a fantastic job and i think I may be coping so well because of him. It's also made us a lot more loving to each other m- feels like were newlyweds again.
Did I tell you how gorgeous I think Luke is? Even his crying is cute (for the first 10 minutes anyway).
To our C section girls - Nina you have given me some hope. This would all definitely be easier if I could easily move around without pain, so fully understand what you are all saying.
Oh and breastfeeding seems to be going ok, don't think the real milk has come in yet but he is definitely happy to latch on. My biggest problem is getting him to stay awake whilst it is happening!
Another selfish post but at the hospital by myself at the moment and was just dying to tell someone how cute he is.
Speak soon ladies:grouphug: to you all
-
So, Cam, is he cute? ;) Gush away! My DP got really sick of me gushing over DS and I still haven't stopped!!
You concentrate on you and your boy, especially as DH is going to do such a great job picking up the other slack!
-
awww Cam that is great news! So happy to hear of how in love you are with the two men in your life!
AFM - Have put off starting the zantac as I really don't feel comfortable giving her medication if I dont have too, Im sure I will change my mind after another screaming session though!!! She is still taking ages to fall asleep so at most is getting about an hour sleep each cycle but I am trying to keep her more upright and limit the feed to about half hour or so. Also trying to ake sure we get ALL the wind out of her before we put her down, though thi can take over an hour to do! and she really hates being in a dirty nappy so am constantly changing her after a feed to keep her comforatble for sleeping!
Great to hear rom you Jen, don't worry about posting, Im sure in a few months when everything settles down we will all post more regular!
Chepie - Hello back to ya!
-
HI mummies
Congratulations Cam!! Welcome cutie! Glad to hear that all is going well - enjoy your babymoon (its awesome hey!)
Eryberry- YOu sound like you are doing an awesome job  Have you tried Infants Friend?? It helps to settle their windy tummy... you can get it from the chemist
Mayaness- Loved your Birth Story also.... I birthed Charlotte in the bath and was amazing......Your post about your relos - ohh you sound like me!!! I am same ... I get antsy about that so sort of thing, especaily when they arrive and its straight over and bub is taken right out of your arms before you are even asked!!! Hmmmm annoys me- When they do that to Aiden I flaty just say umm no he will come to you when he is ready - ohhhh I sound like a mean mummy hey!!! Oops I am not really
Oz- So happy to hear that you are loving your babymoon and have got a great routine going by the sounds of things
Sky- How are things going for you hun? Can't believe your little one is over a month old now!
V- hope your boobies are on the mend!! My have just started healing!!
Rach - Hi babe and welcome little one!!
Jen- How are things goin for you?
AFM- Charlotte is feeding like a crazy woman!! it's lovely though! Trying to get a routine slowly going! She has put 200gms on in 4 days!!!
Having a few issues with Aiden and his behaviour! While he is in love with Charlotte he is really acting out at me especially hitting and throwing and its hard to not get upset as I feel that I am losing my little man....:shakehead: I know I am not but it hurts ..... does anyone have any suggestions on how work through this?? DH and I are going to make a good deads chart up for him, so he will get stars for good behaviour etc.... any comments will be good...thanks mummies:p
