Hi all

Was such a hot day here today (40degrees). We went shopping to escape, any excuse really.

Kellie- hope Tahlia is having fun in her jumper.
Alz - how scary! Sounds like some kids just mucking around. Maybe they didn't like your taste in music LOL. We also looked at umbrella strollers while we were out.
Viv - way to go JJ. I knew he would love food. L holds his bottle too. Oh, he's growing up! When we go out we put his bottle into a stubbie cooler. Just getting in early....
Rebecca - did DH take you out for dinner?

Hoping for a better night. We were up every 2 hours. DH got up at 7am and I went to bed until 10. Had words with DH tho. I told him its not fair how he doesn't get up overnight on the weekends. We'll see if it has done any good.

It has been very quiet in here.
Maddi has been sleeping very well at night, just not through the day.
Friday night she went to sleep at 7:30pm & didn't wake to 10am.

Kellie-Great deal was the box damaged etc.. or was that just the price?

Saffi-Wow 40 degree, I'm so glad we are having some cooler weather now.

Rebecca-Pretty sure JJ is just over 4 months.

Just thought I'd pop in and say a quick hello while Ryan is distracted. He is still snuffley and coughing and a little whingey but that's to be expected, I rung his doctor and told her about him and she said as he didn't have a temp there was no point to see him because it sounds like a virus and will clear up on it's own WHICH IS WHAT I SAID... Now my rant for Friday...

Friday: I get a call from the daycare, Ryan is not himself and is "completely unmanagable" and I HAVE to come get him. We have 3 people already gone home with the flu and my boss really didn't want me to leave so I asked exactly what is wrong "oh he's just cranky and he's never cranky", "does he have a temperature?", "no", "is he having his bottles?" "well, yeah, but he keeps coughing so he's taking a long time to drink them", "has he slept?", "no the other kids are keeping him awake"............................................ ..ARG GRR.

So I say well he hasnt slept at night well because of his cough could he possibly at all just be OVERTIRED? "Oh, maybe, we'll try putting him away from the other kids and call you if he's still bad"... 10 MINUTES LATER "he's not sleeping he's completely unmanagable you have to come get him" so I go to the chemist who gives me some 1month+ cold drops and take it upto the daycare in my lunchbreak I get there and "oh he's ok now he just did a poo"... WTF AM I PAYING FOR?? Every single freaking day they have kids that SCREAM from the minute they get there to the minute their parents get them Ryan has one cranky day because he needs to drop a turd and he's unmanagable because he's whinging and was cranky??

It wasn't the girls who actually look after the kids it was the centre director, and when I got there every single kid had been crying and a bunch of parents turned up to get their "unmanagable children" i.e. they couldn't cope with 7 flu riddled children that one of their childcare workers is off with because she gave it to them all so they are trying to get rid of as many kids as possible! She also told me I should come and take him to a dr immediately and tried to make me feel like bleep for not wanting to come take him because he was 'cranky' when he direly needed medical care for constipation??? I told her I had already rung the doctor at the start of the week and she said that I had to take him again. Was so ****ed I got there and told the girls in there I didn't appreciate being harassed at work, having it made out that ryan is on deaths door when the only symptom is that he is cranky and that I'm a terrible mum for not taking him straight to a doctor! They were shocked and hadn't known the centre director had called all the mums, I can understand being understaffed but why make out things like that to get mums in a panic to get their kids???

Other than that only one week left of work!! Yay! Also going to try and volunteer at the community centre Tuesday nights with Youth Activities and Wednesdays with womans adult education and go to a mums group thursdays if I like it there. Need... to... do .... something....

Anyway Ryan just dropped a big poo and fell asleep (must've been hard work) so I better go change him and put him to bed... his lil bed is on the line so he's in his cot omg he wriggles everywhere, limbs in all directions don't know how many times I had to go re-arrange him last night at least it's sunny so he will have his bed back soon

mo - you must be stoked to be sleeping at night. *jealous*

celtic - how carp is that daycare fiasco?

i want everyone to tell stories of mommy intuition now because of something weird that happened last night.

so i went to bed early (9pm) and thought i might get up to dreamfeed jj in a little bit. i woke up 11pm just randomly and thought i just go in and look at him, with a view to feeding him. so, i go to pick him up in the dark and realise that he is 100% face down fast asleep. he was never a tummy sleep and usually go nuts if he rolls onto his tummy in the night.

i wonder if he would have snuffed himself... why did i wake up? *boogedy*

in other news, i thought i'd try to see if he'd take a formula bottle this morning (after saying he'd eat anything). wrong-o.

he screwed up his face, gagged, drooled and carried on like a total pork chop. he was at it for about 5 mins, gnawing the edge of the teat and sort of taking the bottle in and out. when i gave up i notice he'd only managed about 5 lousy mls. lucky i just bought a sample pack. looks like booby boy is not having a bar of this formula business.

i just wanted to see if he was still a chucker on formula, to test if it might be my diet that makes him spewy. that plan's out the window now.

he looked at me like i was trying to poison him. *mother guilt*

Hey all!

Whenever I haven't posted for a day I notice everyone says it's quiet in here LOL! I am such a chatter box!! I've been around, just feeling a bit blah so didn't want to post and sound depressing. My hormones are up the creek and I'm feeling particularly down atm, I'm wondering if AF is on her way. Please oh please don't come back yet!

I'm so tired too from not getting a great night's sleep in months! I realised I haven't slept well in at least 6 months, coz at the end of pregnancy I was up and down all night going to the toilet or trying to roll over in bed. I miss decent sleep!!!

Viv - Mummy's intuition is a strange and wonderful thing. I haven't had any freaky moments with K yet, but my sister had one with her DS. She was on hols and woke to a wierd sound like a dog barking (only it wasn't) and felt very strongly to check on her DS. She went in and found he had curled up into the corner of the portacot and had his face pressed up against the side. Who knows what would have happened if she hadn't gone in! The wierdest part was that our mum also woke up at the exact same time of night (at her own house) with an odd feeling about one of her grandkids. Spooky!

Celtic - Your daycare centre sounds so frustrating! I can't believe they tried to pull a guilt trip on you. I hope Ryan's cold clears up soon.

Mo - Oh, you're so lucky Maddi sleeps so well at night! Joel was a fantastic night sleeper too so it is a rude shock to have a bub who isn't! How cold is it today? What happened to summer???

Saffi - Hope you had a better night last night. DH never gets up to the boys, he sleeps through it all the lucky thing!

Kellie - I'm sure you will love the Jumperoo as much as Tahlia! They are so good when you need a "change of scenery" or a distraction while you are trying to get stuff done. I'm going to try K in his Jolly Jumper soon. I've been putting it off in case I undo his chiropractic work lol! How are you coping with Tahila sleeping in her cot at night?

Alz - How scary having your car broken into! Mine got broken into once and the thieves only stole my coins too. We had hundreds of dollars worth of Myer vouchers in the glove box (wedding gifts) that they pulled out, but didn't take thank goodness!

Kim - Hope you and Craig are having a nice weekend away!

Hi to everyone else!

Hi all! Haven't posted all weekend, so have just had a quick read to catch up. Not much going on here. L has been pretty good. Went to sleep school again on Friday and again he was the star performer :rolleyes: Settled and resettled beautifully so again didn't get much out of it. I guess one positive thing (well for me anyway) is that being there and seeing other babies makes me realise things could be a lot worse and he's really not that bad. I was talking to one mum whose 6mo only sleeps for 15-20mins at a time during the day and 1.5-2hrs overnight :wall: Man, that would be hard work!!

DH has been away fishing AGAIN this weekend :angry: Soooooo totally over being left at home for most to the weekend (he leaves sat arvo, gets home sun arvo) with both kids, especially overnight when DD isn't sleeping well at the moment either (very strange for her, haven't really figured it out yet, she seems to be coming down with a cold though), and I'm not getting any sleep or any help. MIL had a party last night, a friend of hers imports all this stuff from Bali and then sells it. I really wanted to go but L wouldn't have a sleep in the afternoon and DH was leaving for fishing so bad luck, I miss out again. Well I thought bugger that! So I bathed the kids, gave DD her dinner and took them over there. Thankfully L slept most of the time we were there. Paid for it a bit last night because he woke every 3 hours (hadn't done that for a while) because I think he was overtired. So even though we can't really afford it, I brought a great knock off D&G handbag, a few tops and a sarong. Bugger it! I'm sick of being the only one around here always putting everyone else first.

I'm still filthy with DH and he's due home soon. Fun and games....I swear if he comes home and sleeps all afternoon on the couch like he normally does, I will kill him. HE'S tired???!!!!

OK, wow, sorry that wasn't supposed to be a big whinge but I obviously needed to get that off my chest! LOL.

Celtic - that's carp about day care calling you like that! Glad you stuck it to em!

Trish - :hug: sorry to hear you're feeling down. Have been wondering about AF myself the last few days....I really hope she stays away a bit longer. Very cute pic of K!

Nickers - wow! That must have been soooo scary. I'm so glad it all ended happily.

Viv - despite swearing I wouldn't, thinking of trying L on solids in about a months time. Same reasons, he's a big boy and I think he'll need a bit more than booby milk soon.

Kim - hope you have a great weekend!

Question of the day - how long are bubs staying awake between sleeps now? We've been doing 1.5 hours for a while now but in the last week or so, I've had a few sleeps where I've really had to fight to get him to go down and I've never really had to do that, he's always gone down quite happily without much fuss. So wondering if he's trying to tell me he's not tired yet and can start to stay up a bit longer? The guidelines from sleep school say 1.5-2hrs for a 4-6 month old.

Hi everyone,
Ethan slept fairly well last night. Went to bed at 7.30 and by 7.40 was sound asleep. I drema fed him at 10 and then he went back to sleep until 4.45 which is good for him at the moment. I stuck the dummy in and he went back to sleep for half an hour but that was it. Dh got up to him at 5.15 and he wouldn't settle until 7. He had a bad case of bottom wind. But still he was good last night! Yey!!!!

Went shopping this morning and got our umbrella stroller which I am excited about. Got a steelcraft profile layback which seems pretty good. In laws came with us to buy a high chair so we got that too. We sat Ethan in it in the shop and he loved it. Oh my little boy is growing so fast.

Celtic - how annoying that the daycare centre aren't doing the job you pay them for. What do they expect that your baby will be happy all the time and never cry? I am an early childhood teacher and I worked in an under 3s room for a while and we never called parents because their child was being unmanageable. We saw it as our job to work out why they are so upset and do the best we can to care for them and make them feel better. If there was a bub that was obviously sick and had a temp we would call the parents but not if the baby was overtired and upset. It's not like you can just drop work every 2 minutes because the day care centre can't handle a little baby. I feel for you.

As time for me to go back to work gets closer I am feeling sad about leaving Ethan. I don't go back till July but hearing other's stories of day care makes me sad. I do want to work part time but not sure how I will go leaving Ethan for that long. Not sure who will mind him yet. Probaby MIL but she never does what we ask her too. Ethan bearly sleeps at her place because she is always telling me that he needs more stimulation. He gets plenty of sitmulation!!! He also needs sleep.

Anyway I will stop ranting. Have a great day everyone.

Chelsea is STILL sick. MIL rang Sat morning saying she was off to the dr's. Chels had been vomitting and diarreah (sp?), not eating and even worse not drinking. She was worried Chels was dehydrated. Anyhow seen a dr, she was on borderline dehydration and if she vomitted anymore more action would be needed. Turns out it is all apparently teething, but i cant help but think theres more too it.

We had a nice time away, relaxing and having some quite time....but its so hard to just switch off when ur baby is at home so sick....i called a few times a day!

Its good to be back home. MIL said we deserve a medal cos she has no idea how we manage and cope...so that makes me feel good....to know that i am doing a good job :clap:

Celtic - I cannot believe your ChildCare centre! My sis works in CC, and I just told her about it, and she said at hers, they are not even allowed to actually say, "You have to come and get them." They can tell you whats wrong, but it is up to the parent if they want to collect them or not. Especially considering that DS didnt even sound like he was all that bad. They were obviously all having bad days and couldnt handle a bit of extra crying!! Can you look into somewhere else?

Alz - Hope Ethan keeps up the good sleeping!!

Trish - I hope you catch up on some sleep real soon!!

Willow - Make sure DH gives you some time to relax!!!

All I can say is if severe vomiting and the runs is what happens when babies teethe, I hope L stays a gummy boy forever!

Willow - sometimes DHs can be so insensitive. Wouldn't it be nice if we could pack up and go away overnight and leave the kids behind! Just because we are at home 24/7 doesn't mean we work any less!
L is still doing about 90 mins between sleeps. When we go out he often won't sleep for hours. He likes to be part of the action.

After my little rant to DH he did get up once to L overnight and another time offered, but I needed to get up to feed L. Had a blocked duct yesterday so needed to work on it before it turned into mastitis. Luckily it seems to have worked.

Over the next week I am going to start to move L into his cot. Think I'll start with day sleeps and if that goes ok then move to nights. Had to wash his sheets in preparation. Haven't wrapped him in over a week so think we have made that transition pretty much unscathed.

Oh Nerida - How oh how did you do it??? (The putting down unwrapped thing!) Chels is driving me nuts with her being wrapped! WILL NOT sleep unwrapped!! Grrr to you dummy, wish I had never started it now!

Geez has Chelsea been little miss grizzle the past 3 days. All she wants is for me to carry her around. The minute you put her down, she is grizzling! Grrr. Iknow she is not in pain cause the minute you do pick her up, she is all smiles and giggles again! Put her down, and she's crying!! Hope it is just a short phase (a very short phase!!)

Maddi is 5 months today, off to see her health nurse today, can see how much she's grown.

mo - james is 4 months and just under 1 week.

becky - james will go to sleep unwrapped when it's hot (or when he's in the mood). he will sleep in shorter bursts tho' compared to when i spider wrap him.

someone round here woke at 4.20 for food and downright refused to go back to sleep. i tried settling for an hour but by the time he started farting, stretching and making his dolphin noises, i knew there was no point. he hears the birds and sees the light coming up and thinks it's play time. :doh:

i threaten him that i'm going to send him to the dolphinarium... :p *squeeee*

Had a shocker last night, woke every 3 hours :wall: don't know what's going on, his nights had improved so much and now this again the last two nights. Sooooo tired. Fed at 6.30am and still asleep now. Having fantasies of feeding him a huge bowl of farex at 7.30pm and him sleeping all night!! :cryinglaugh:

Saffi- No DH did not take me out to dinner. He didnt end up getting home from work until 7pm. Then worked all day saturday 7-6.30 then yesterday he had to work AGAIN!! From 12 until 630. I tell you I am really over spending the whole weekend alone. I know I have Caitlyn and she keeps me occupied but there is only so much conversation you can have with a 4 month old before you start going ga ga. I know DH wants to earn some $$ so we can have a fun time back in Townsvilel in April but please......I'm LONELY!!!!!
Unwrapping- I swear I keep meaning to try to put her down unwrapped but it just doesnt happen. I know if I do....it will mean a 45-1hr nap before she is awake again. Last night was a SHOCKER!!! Down at 615 up at 1130 which wasnt too bad! But up again at 130, 330, 415 and 5! AAARRRGGGHHH Why why why on a sunday night!!!! Each time she was unwrapped, fist in mouth ga ga gaing away at herself. I managed to settle her again at 1130 and then fed her at 130 but the other times were just a nightmare. I would just get her down and get back to the bedroom and she would be awake again. Took her back to bed at 530 - still no settling. DH rolled over at 6 and asked if I wanted him to take her....what a silly question!!!! Of couse she settled for him and then slept still once he got out of bed at 630! I think I might just have to get used to getting up at 5!!
Celtic-I CANNOT believe your daycare centre. I thought mine was bad but they aint got nothing on that! So far they have never called me. I got there one afternoon and they told me that I might have to keep her home the next day but that was it and that was cause she had runny poos which I can understand completely!
Willow/Saffi-I sooooo wish that I could just have one day "off". DH told me last night that I should still be able to get housework done on a Sunday if he is not there! Ha ha ha ha! Sure! I will jsut strap C on and do everything - ignore her crying and needs! Sundays are normally DH's day off and the day he gets to spend some time with C. its also the day I get stuff done around the house! I could be doing it now I know but hey I have to go to "work" today! So last night - in the heat of the moment - I told him that if he earnt enough that I didnt HAVE to work - then maybe I would get more done around the house. Ohhhhhh bad Bec! Not in the good books now!! Really should learn to think things through!!

Maddi has cracked the 7kg mark she weighs 7.2kg & is 65cms long with a HC of 43cm.
Nurse said she is doing wonderfully & we can start her on solids if we want.
So that makes me happy to know I'm doing a good job :)

Trish - Tahlia has slept in her cot for 3 nights now, the 1st two nights I had to get up a few times cause she was getting herself unwrapped and was cold, but last night I put her in a polar fleece sleeping bag (seeing its so cold in Melbourne!) and she slept right through from about 10pm till 8.30. And she wasn't even wrapped!

Willow - Tahlia stays awake between 1.5 hrs and 2 hrs between day sleeps, unless we are out somewhere when its a bit longer caus she is such a sticky beak and wants to see what is goin on.

Kim - glad you had good weekend away... hope Chelsea is feeling better

I think Tahlia is coming down with a cold, she was a little snuffly last night and this morning, and her eyes are a bit watery. She seems happy enough in herself though. This is the 1st time she has been sick, so I don't even know what I can do to help her. WHat can you give little bubs for colds? panadol?

Kellie Moomba is 7th-10th of march.
Maddi has a cold & cough i ended up buying her some dimetapp, because she couldn't sleep with her cough & her nose got blocked & she couldn't breathe through it.
Glad to say she's almost better now just has a slightly running nose during the day.

Hi everyone...

WOW...so much to catch up on!

We have been VERY busy the last few days. My mum stayed over with me from Friday night. Max has been MR talkative and has been staying awake for AGES. Not being grumpy about it though. The other night we went out for dinner and when we got home, he ZONKED out. It was fantastic! Slept through... pretty much and then went back to sleep for another 2 hours! SWEET!

Yesterday was busy again and had another late night. Max went straight to sleep again, but I kept dreaming that I was holding him, or had him in my bed so kept waking wondering what the hell was going on, and where is he, and have I rolled over him etc etc.! Very annoying...I'm pretty tired today.

I think when Max wakes I'm going to go to the new Ikea store they have built here. I hope the novelty has worn off a little bit and it's not filled with the entire Perth population!

Anyway, hope all is well. Happy 5 months to Maddi. Bah Humbug to your DC Centre Celtic that is just plain rubbish. Hugs to everyone else :)

Rebecca - that sucks that DH has to work so long and thru the weekend. Will it be any better once he's finished his apprenticeship? I really have nothing to complain about as DH spends every possible hour with us but sometimes when he's here I still feel like I am working alone. Think he's got the idea now.
Kellie - sorry to hear Tahlia is unwell. I thought L was coming down with a cold too. I have heard that Fess Little Noses is good to clear up the congestion. There is also a thread in the Baby/Toddler pages that talks about panadol vs nurofen.
Becky - I don't really know how successful I am at the unwrapped sleeping. For most of the past week he has been waking up every 2 hours overnight. But then again he was working his way out of the wrap which I am certain was an issue. Agree about the dummy!
Willow - my L is also waking up every couple of hours overnight. It sucks not having uninterupted sleep.

What am I doing wrong??? L has about 3 sleeps during the day between 1 - 3 hours. We put him down for the evening at around 6/6.30pm. Either he wakes up around 9 - 10pm where I feed him and then down again. If he doesn't wake I will dreamfeed. Last night for eg he was up at 1.15am (dummy issue), 4am - didn't want to settle so fed him,and up for the day at 6am. I keep the room relatively cool so to make him as comfortable as possible.

Feeling a bit down today. Sleep deprivation will do that. Only managed 40 mins when I put him down at 8, is asleep now (10.45) so will see if I can get another hour.

saffi - i used to have a fantastic sleeper but he's pretty much doing the regular wake up thing at night too. my sis says it's just the way it is for some babies. worst case... they won't properly sleep through until 18mth - 2 years. *woo*

you're not doing anything wrong - i suppose they'll sleep through when they're ready. the frequent waking is the reason BF babies are less likely to succumb to SIDS... so you can at least take comfort in that.

(and know i'm not sleeping either) :wall:

Saffi- If DH continues to work where he is working now I cannot see the hours changing once he is finished his time. Its just that there is sooo much work on. I was a bit ticked off about yesterday though. He is on call which to me means that a truck has broken down and needs immediate attention. Not that the boss has booked in too much work and is calling his staff in. What if he had worked for those 6 hours yesterday and then got a call out at 10 last night?? Last long weekend that we had, the on call guy worked (on his own car) on the sunday and the boss came and got Wayne and asked him to do the call out! I can't imagine anyone else doing the same for him. DH needs to start standing up for himself or he is going to miss so much time with Caitlyn.
I think the whole non sleeping thing must be a 4 month old thing. I just hope that it will pass :pray: :pray: :pray: :pray: :pray:

Afternoon all!

Had one of the worst nights ever with the two boys, Joel has come down with a cold so he was the worst culprit. Basically I got next to no sleep all night and was in tears at 4:30am because I was so over getting up and down. DH took the day off to look after us, so sweet! I have had a couple of naps when K is asleep, something I couldn't do if I was at home on my own with Joel too.

Saffi - :hug: I hear you loud and clear! I have been questioning what I am doing wrong too. I'm sure it is our bubs and not us, but you can't help but wonder. I hope you have a better night tonight and feel a bit more like yourself.

Julia - Glad Max has been behaving for you! Have fun at Ikea, we always get lost there and can't find our way out LOL!

Mo - Happy 5 months to Maddi!!! What a big girl! WTG on her awesome weight gain! Let us know how you go introducing solids.

Kellie - That's great Tahlia slept unwrapped! I hope her cold clears up soon. I used to give Joel Panadol (it cleared his nose up for some bizarre reason) and Dimetapp.

Rebecca - That must be so frustrating having your DH on call like that.

Willow - What's with these boys of ours?! We had a great night last week and I was feeling hopeful, but it has all gone down hill again. Hope tonight is better for you :hug:. Do you have any more sessions at the sleep school?

Viv - K woke at 3am and decided it was wake time until 4:30am, so I understand how you felt early this morning!

Thanks guys for the supportive messages. I managed to get another 90mins sleep so am feeling a lot better now. Sounds like it could be a 4 month thing if most of us are going through the same thing. I should be grateful that at least I can sleep when he sleeps which is more than those of you who work or have other bubs can do. I really feel for you.

Saffi- It is a cute little photo of her isnt it! Thanks for noticing! I love it. I actually had to crop it waaaaay down cause it was huge!! She is trying to sit up by herself more and more everyday! She hates to lie down - and is quite vocal about it!
Trish-I know how you feel - but I think mine is only half as bad cause I only have the one to get up to!! Don't know how I would cope with 2!! You must be doing a fantastic job to still be sane!
I have decided that tonight I am going to put her down unwrapped and thats it! I have no doubt though that I will cave after no sleep and wrap her but I have to give it a go dont i?? I think maybe part of my problem is putting her down too early. But every time I think about getting her up again at 9 or 10 I end up in bed. I am going to put on a pot of coffee and do my best to keep up tonight. I am lucky in that DH took her for a while this morning while I lay on the couch and had a big cry. DH is such a heavy sleeper that he doesnt hear me get up in the night and so doesnt realise how little sleep I am getting. Trish - I too had a big cry on the couch this morning - its just soooo tiring having the broken sleep. Like I said to DH if it was 4 hours straight that would be good but its an hour here half an hour there.
I have a friend who is 21 weeks pg at the moment and her DP is hundreds and hundreds of KM's away with the Army and hasnt seen her since she was early pg. She is not dealing too well (Neither is he!!) and is getting no support from the Army whatsoever. Am doing my best to support/help her. Its hard for her and I wish I could be there for her!!

Saffi - So glad you have snuck a nap in, it makes all the difference doesn't it?

Rebecca - I forgot to mention how cute your photo of Caitlyn is! I noticed it earlier and admired it, but in my sleep-deprived state forgot to say something!

We did some retail therapy earlier and went to the Kmart 25% of kids clothing sale. Got some cute Bonds stuff for K & Joel and a couple of other bits and pieces. DH gets Coles Myer gift cards every Christmas from his work so we used some of them on today's shopping spree. Hooray for free stuff!

Hope you are all having a great day. We are not. Ethan is driving me around the bend. He slept well last night. He only woke once and all he needed was his dummy. Today his sleeps have been all over the shop. He is only sleeping for 1.5 hrs max and not resettling. He is whinging every time I leave the room which is driving me crazy. I think it is because I am so tired. Not sure why as Ethan has been good the last 2 nights.

Saffi - hope you are feeling a bit better soon. I know how you feed. I made a tearful phone call to dh at work today because Ethan would not stop crying.

Unwrapping - we have started the process of unwrapping. Tonight will be the fourth night when we leave one of Ethan's arms out. Tomorrow we will take both arms out for a few days and then it's gone. Yey!!!!

Alz- Thats what I thought I might do - just try one arm out at a time for a few days and then go on to both out.
Did you find him waking ALOT during the night?? I have just had enough of getting up and rewrapping and then getting up 2 hours later and doing the same thing. I curse the day MIL suggested a dummy!!!
Trish- How nice!! I love retail therapy. I have to do the ebay thing for that. Or do grocery shopping. Yay! ha ha ha My MIL gets coles myer or the woolworths equivalent vouchers all through the year for reaching sales targets -they all go to SIL though. DH doesnt even get a look in. Its sad really. SIL gets whatever she likes and DH has to beg - so he just doesnt now! And then everyone keeps saying "when are you coming to visit?" Well hello....when are you coming to visit us?? We have a baby in tow surely it would be easier for you. Anyway -enough of my gripe!
15 mins till home time. Fried rice for din dins tonight. Don't know how healthy that is (am aiming to lose 15 kg seeing as my BMI says I am obese!).

Well chels was fine with her needles. Cried out for about 10 seconds, and then went back to happily eating her hand. Havent had any reactions or anything so far. I have been really lucky. Neither of my kids have ever had reactions to needles.

alz - Good luck with the unwrapping thingo! I hope ya day gets better too!

I know how you are all feeling, I'm feeling the same. We've been out all day at a friends place. L slept till 9.30am so that was good, tried to put him down at my friend's place (she has a cot set up in the spare room) and he wouldn't go down. So fed him and tried again an hour later and he slept for about 2+ hours (wasn't watching the time) so I was really stoked. Then we got home and he wouldn't have a sleep this afternoon so I'm feeling like carp again. this is the 3rd time in about 2 weeks I haven't been able to get him to have his last sleep and I'm not liking it! And the other problem we're having is getting him to settle when we put him down for the night. Is taking aaaaages for him to settle and does my head in when I know he can do it perfectly well every other time.

I'm hearing you all on this wrapping/unwrapping/dummy/no dummy/sleep deprivation/are they ever going to sleep through the night business!!

I wonder if it's possible to actually lose your mind from sleep deprivation?? I think I might find out soon enough :cryinglaugh:

Trish - we live in parallel worlds. Also having trouble with DD waking at night. Have NO idea WTH is going on with her but it does my head in when they're both awake at the same time and DH is snoring away in bed :angry: It's like you're really being tested but wait! there's more!

Feeling exhausted so I am going to bed soon. DH will feed Ethan at 10 tonight.

Rebecca - I can relate to the getting up many, many times a night to re-wrap. Ethan was doing that for a couple of weeks and that is why we decided to get rid of the wrap. He is coping very well with having 1 arm out. The first night he woke up a few times but since then has done ok. I think he would be worse if we got rid of the wrap cold turkey.

Anyway, I'm off to bed. NEED SLEEP!!!!!!

Trish- you poor thing.... i hope you are sleeping soundly right now, im in bed wth the laptop, last post for the night! Thats real good your dh took the day off work and u were able to have some more sleep.

well Nixon did my absolute head in today. he just got into everything he shouldnt, by the end of the day he was just down right irritating me!! but all was lots when we had some cuddles and tickles and rolling around the floor... thank god Tyron had a reasonable day or i would have gone nuts, got the car serviced so was house bound all day.

i was out tonight and dh put kids to bed, i notice that Tyron is in the wrap but arms out (assuming he got them out) but still alseep so just leaving him like that.

Happy 5 months Maddi! as i wrote that it was 12.01 so just 1 min late!

im pretty busy over the next week or so, will try to kep updated but may not get much time to post. it really sounds like our bubs are having similar issues, weather it be moving from bassinett to cot. feeding time, wrapping, see how quickly they are all growing, no more newborns!

seen twins 9days old a few days back, they were big for twins 7lb 1 and 7lb 4 but they looked so tiny! its lovely growing with the children but its sad how quickly they grow out of the new borness!

Well I am a bit excited. Ethan only woke once last night for the dummy and then slept till 6.25 this morning! Yey! That's three nights in a row that he hasn't been too bad. I am hoping that this will continue but am not counting my chickens. He seems a lot happier today so let's hope that we are going to have a great day today as opposed to yesterday's whinge fest.

Good morning everyone!!
Well we tried the one arm out of the wrap last night. She was a little unsettled at first. But I went to bed at 9 and she didnt stir again until 12. then once I fed her and got her down again (only took 20 mins!!) she wasnt awake again until 4! WOW!!! Was very excited - and relieved to get 4 hours solid sleep!! then of course she woke again at 530 and then at 620. The AC in our room froze last night and started spitting/chewing ice and making ALOT of noise so we ended up turning it off. then of course our room got SOOOOO hot!
hmmm hows this for contradiction/hypocrisy! My DH cracked it big time when a VERY ex b/f of mine rang to say happy birthday. Of course I told DH I have nothign to hide. The guy is married with his own daughter. Anyway - he joined facebook and has been having conversations with his very single, almost local ex g/f! And he thinks thats ok!! Anyway I told him exactly what I thought and now he has deleted his facebook account!! Hmmm will talk to him about that tonight! grumpy so and so! no wonder he barely spoke to me last night!!
Anyway - am off to do some washing yay yay yay!

Glad to hear that some of us are having better nights.. we had a great one, slept from about 10.30 through till 8. I think putting her in her own room was the best thing, I think we were waking her and she was waking us!

We had a reasonable night last night thank goodness! Joel woke at 12am, but I just told him to shoosh and then didn't hear from him again. K woke at 2am for a dummy call and again at 2:20am, then didn't wake for his feed until 5:30am which was WONDERFUL! So he went 8 hours between feeds which is brilliant. Even though I got up to him a couple of times at least I could go straight back to sleep. So I am feeling much more human today than I did yesterday.

I took Joel to kinder this morning. He cried again, but this time it was more of a nervous cry, not a hysterical cry. When I left him with the teacher he didn't try and cling onto me and cry which is a first. I think it will get better and better each time. He absolutely loves it there so I'm sure he will work it all out soon.

I'm having such hard time getting Maddi to go down for day time naps & when i finally get her down it's only for 30mins, 1hr if I'm really lucky.
Yesterday she woke up at 7:30am slept for 3hrs all up & wouldn't go back down till 11:30pm & i had a big struggle getting her down because she was so over-tired.

Trish glad you had a better night, Tried Maddi on some Farex she wouldn't have a bar of it lol.
Nurse said to try adding a tiny amount of stewed apple for some flavour. So will give that a go soon.

Becky glad Chels did well with her needles.
