Leah - I might do a ring around before heading out then. I know Babies Galore stock them, but we don't have Babies Galore in VIC, I was hoping other baby shops might stock them too. I really want to try one on and see the colours in person first! Oh well, maybe I'll just have to buy one online and cross my fingers LOL! What colour is yours and are you happy with it?
Mo - Bummer the rice cereal didn't agree with Maddi! Oh well, not long until she turns 6 months!!
Becky - Blurrgh, your night sounded terrible! Good luck tonight without the wrap and dummy tonight! Let us know how she goes.
Have a great night everyone :D
-
Trish if you go to the ergo site it has a list of stockist! i got mine from a shop up here in Qld surely Vic would have them! Hope K is alright after his jabs!
Mo have a ball at moomba! Dh is soo jealous! We may go next year!
Becky hope chels is better for you tonight welcome to the no sleep club! Sucks hey!:p
Rebecca we will be making our own food! You could just use a masher if you didnt have a blender! We got a stick blender from aldi it was like $6 bargin!
Well not much going on here except Myles is up nearly every 2 hrs which is driving me insane! I miss my sleep so much!
He is aslo kinda belly crawling which is cool! I think he will crawl before he sits up:)
sorry if this doesnt make sense I am just sooo tired!
Anyway will bbl have a good night!

Hey all
Busy day. Went to a workshop with a whole lot of other mums. They had organised day care for bubs too. Was interesting to see how L went without me. Didn't sook or anything, but I think at this age they haven't formed that deep emotional attachment.
Rebecca - I got a stick blender for my b'day for that exact reason. I have made hummus, a peach mousse, frappicinos and whipped stuff with it so far. I can't wait until I can puree stuff. I got one with a whisk attachment and also a bowl.
Becky - sorry you had a carp night. I guess if you are going to do it then doing the wrapping and dummy at once is a good way to go. At least get the pain over with in one. Hope it is getting better for you.
Alz - good to hear that baptism went well. Poo that you got sick tho.
Bottle warmer turned up yesterday. Forgot to take it down to the car and I really could have used it today. Also bought a portacot for our trip up north which also turned up yesterday. Been putting L in it to get used to it.
L's shots were yesterday. He had the briefest of cries when the needles went in and then totally forgot about them. He seems to have been really good overnight and today. Doesn't a fever or anything which I am happy about.
House looks like a bomb has hit it. Need to do some housework..... tomorrow.
Later!

Hi everyone
It's been pretty busy lately for us!
We had mothers group today and I had all the girls and bubs over at my place. It was a nice day for it, had a good time, but am pretty tired now!
Becky Good luck getting rid of wrap and dummy! Hope things get better for you.
Carriers I have a bjorn and I like it...it is one of the ones with the back support though. I like the material it is made from, and judging by the slobber mark on the front, Max likes it too! I use it to do the food shopping.
Rebecca I plan on making my own baby food. I have a stick blender which comes with different attachment thingys like whisk and little bowl thingy (same as Saffi by the sounds) which is good, and not expensive either. I have already made steamed some carrots and frozen in the freezer tray thingys for when the time comes.
I was out the other night and Mum was holding on to Max. I turned around and she had given him a taste of a potato WEDGE! Thing was....he LOVED it! He was sucking away on it like he'd always eaten it! I'm still going to wait until 6 months to start the food though. Not long now!
Still no rolling here (Maybe there is something about the 12th of October Leah) but I am pretty sure that Max is going to be sitting before he rolls! He loves his bumbo and he loves sitting on the chair. He leans forward and is getting better at balancing.
Max is pretty close to the 8kg mark so I turned around his car seat the other day! It says it can be done from 8kg to 18kg. He likes it so much better.... he doesn't have to lean forward like he was AND he can now reach his toy!
I booked Max in for his swimming lessons the other day....starts on the 17th....SO EXCITED!
Anyway.... I am off to laze on the chair with DH :)
Hope everyone has a good night. SLEEP TIGHT!

Trish my Ergo is Cranberry and black. I like the new Retro Green Limited Edition Sue has on her site, very spunky! Of the plain colours I like the blue or the cranberry.
We love the Ergo. I should get my Scootababy this week to WOOT! It is similar to an Ergo but a hip carry style. Good for quick in and out of preschool drop offs, shops and for when they are older and are up, down, up, down etc etc.
The Ergo is best for longer periods and sleeping in though.
Good luck!
Oh and I had Amara weighed today and she is 6.9kg!!! Eliza weighed 7.4kg at 8 and a half months so I have 2 very different bubbas!
-
i did the same with Nixon as a few have suggested regarding prep of solids.
However ofcourse i use tupperware!! They have these great ice cube trays that have a silicon notch on the bottom so you can pop just one cube at a time out. You can mix up different things in different trays then pop a few cubes of each out.
from memory after the rice cerial it was 1 fruit of vege at a time.
i would give only that to him for a few days ina row before introducing another food just to be sure there were no reactions to the foods introduced.
soooo saves time once they have a variety of foods to make up batches and be prepared, i still do vegies cubes for Nixon and its great to just add a few to whatever else i have for him on the night.
Tyron now has 2 teeth! the second one came through a few days after the first. he's been a bog grizzly on and off and they seem to be coming up fast.
anyway well past my bed time, i dont think that evening coffee helped me to go to bed!
-
Maddi still has no teeth, but i'm happy to wait for the teething for the stage.
Amber-How are you doing with the nappy hunt?
Kim-Hope you doing better.
Becky-Hope you had a better night.
-
Hi ladies,
How is everyone going???
WOW... These babies are growing up too fast! I've had a look at your signature photos and the changes are just amazing!
How is everyone finding mother hood 4-5 months down the track??? I'm LOVING every minute of it! Tiera is just a fabulous baby!!! She has found her voice and loves to squeal!!! lol I went to the clinic to get her weighed last week and she 6.75kg!!!! What a fatty dumb ;) She's still sleeping through the night (9pm - 7am then back to sleep until 9am-10am ish), but is sleeping more through day now. I'm still breastfeeding and just loving it. Someone once told me it was addictive, didn't really understand it at the time, but certainly do now. Tiera is still thriving on the breast, so I'm not starting any solids until 6mths.
Tiera is now rolling both ways (tummy to back, back to tummy) and wiggles her way across the floor. She puts EVERYTHING she can get her little hand on straight in her mouth! She is still a little sticky beak and I can't feed her when people walk into the room, cuz she just wants to turn around and stare at them! :)
As for me everything is going pretty well. STILL having trouble with my tear (now scar). Went back to my OB/GYN and have been refered to a colin surgeon in Newcastle which I can't get into until June. She still may operate on the front end if the pain hasn't stopped in a few months time. Four months on and DTD is extreamly painful and doesn't happen too often because of it. But it is all worth it in the end. I'm just greatful I have such a happy and healthy baby girl!
So.... Has anyone got another one on the way, or looking at trying for another one anytime soon???
We're not looking at having another one until Tiera is 3yrs old, so will start trying somewhere around her 2nd b'day (which I"m sure will come around before I know it). Trying to get my brother and hi wife to have a baby next year so I can have a fix in between!! lol
Well, now I've written a novel I better go and face the day! :D
Take care all.

Morning...
Been a while since i popped in.
Lauren....your not working now? Did i miss something? Welcome to SAHMotherhood!
Rebecca- Only food i made was the vegies...the rest was canned stuff until Chelsea was old enough to begin eating our food without being mashed! They say to introduce vegies first rather then fruit because fruit is sweet and babies get hooked on it faster making it harder to get vegies into them....not sure how true it is. Chelsea will only eat pumpkin and potato.
Im feeling much better now....was a severe gastro bug in the end..not gall stomes...stupid dr. I am now however dealign with severe AF cramping so been makign me bit off sorts.
Nappy hunt....driving me bonkers...i gave up looking.....which reminds me..have ot move icon tonight...been alot of cheating going on
I cant remember what anyone else has said so huge apoligies.
I have Jasmines check up next week now cos i was sick on Friday. Also due for needles but dont want to do them.
-
Hi everyone!
We went to the health centre today for the 4 month check and K is now 7.08kg the big boof! He is also 66.5cm long. He has put on 865g and grown 4.5cm in a month! The MCHN said I can start him on Farex if I want because he is waking a couple of times o'night still (not that I'm feeding him, just resettling, but it is frustrating!).
K is doing cute little squeals and if I squeal at him he will squeal back, we do it over and over and it is so adorable! The MCHN said that most bubs start doing that at 6 months, but I'm a bit skeptical, I'm sure it's not that unusual. Also if I raise my arms up and say "Yay!" K will flap his arms up and down and smile, so funny :D
Question of the day: What is your favourite thing to do with your bub? One of my favourite things is bathtime, as soon as we walk into the bathroom he breaks out into a huge grin and he giggles his head off as I undress him, aww... He has a great time kicking his fat legs and looks like the happiest baby in the world. So what do you all love doing with your bub?
Kim - Glad to hear you are getting better, I'm glad you don't have gallstones.
Tiff - Great to hear from you, I'm glad you and Tiera are doing well :)
Nic - I can't believe Tyron has two teeth already!!! At least your getting them all out of the way! The MCHN said K's gums are a bit swollen so he may pop one out soon too.
Leah - I just checked out Scootababy's, they look fantastic! Such a great idea for quick trips. I'd better stop looking at carriers or I'll get addicted too lol! I'm going to check out the Ergos tomorrow at Baby Bunting, they are listed as a stockist and there's one not too far away from me. If I am happy with it I will go ahead and buy one from your friend. Hope you get some commission ;)
Julia - K has only rolled a few times and doesn't seem that interested in doing it much. Enjoy a baby who stays in one spot while he can!
Saffi - What was the workshop you went to about? Glad L handled his needles well.
Amber - Thanks for the info, I finally found the stockist list on the Ergo site, can't wait to go try one out! I hope Myles starts sleeping a bit better for you again soon.
Have a great day everyone!
-
I have 2 fave things I like to do with Tiera..... 1 is feeding her. I love it of a morning DH brings Tiera into me and lays her beside me. She gives me a BIG smile and then goes straight onto the breast. I watch in amazement as she feeds. I just can't get over how much I love her!
The other thing is play time.... I too squeal back at Tiera and she squeals at me! I think it is the cutest thing!
I love massaging her as well! Oh dear..... I'm totally in love!!! lol
-
Trish- i got my ergo at baby bunting. Have seen them in the narre warren, bentleigh and the northern suberbs shops. (Yup i get around!) :p
ETA- That is a shockin pic of me! It's a girl from the nappy threads' website. I took it to show her how great a fit the nappy was. Should have at least put some makeup on or done my hair! Didn't know it was going up for the world to see. lol
-
Ange you look fab in your pic! I am definitely going to get some of her nappies too cute!
Mo slowly getting there! Too much looking at nappies than hunting sometimes! There are some hard ones on there! The extreme ones are super hard! How many have you found? I have 26!
Kim So glad your feeling better! I cant find your icon anywhere:( You have hidden it well!
trish glad to help! How cute is K with the squealing! Hhehe!
Myles is starting to crawl! He gets up on his knees and rocks back and forth! He also kinda sat up today! Omg i am going to have a tiny bubba crawling around soon! Argh!
Brissy girls! Next Thursday the 6th! Where do you want to meet?
BBL xx
-
Trish - yep, I'm still around, just not had a lot to say. We also had our 4 month check up today... my chubba bubba is 7.45kgs and 65cm! She has put on 1200 grams since her 2 month check up and grown 6cm!
My fave thing to do with her is blow raspberries on her tummy and cheeks and wait for her to squeal in excitement
Hello to everyone
-
Amber- I've found 20 so far, the extreme one are very hard so haven't found any yet.
I Also can't find Kim's icon lol.
Maddi does the same thing as Myles can't believe how quickly they're growing up.
Trish-My fav thing is play-time.
-
Evening all,
I am feeling much better but a bit tired still. I think it has something to do with E waking me up every 40 mins last night. Not sure but I think he is hungry.
We decided that we are going to start solids on Saturday. E increased his formula feeds by 60 mls today! He is getting fussy before a feed too so I think he needs more. I would start tomorrow but hubby wants to be home to expereince his first feed so it will have to wait until Saturday. Hopefully he will start sleeping through now.
Not much else to say. Have a great night all.
-
Is my icon that hard to find?? i thought it was easy....lol. Some one on the hint forum said it was 'easyish'. But its going on a move tonight!
My favourite thing with Jasmine is when we are home alone and can cuddle up in bed together and we 'talk'.
-
Heya girls!
Not much happening here, just plodding along happily (gee it's nice to be able to say that!!). Exciting news just to hand - L has settled to sleep all day today WITHOUT HIS DUMMY!! Pretty excited about that. He's always gone to sleep at sleep school without it but seemed to want it at home. I told myself I'd give it a real shot without it for a few days and see how he went...so far, so good! He's actually settled pretty well without it. Definitely no worse than he normally would. But early days yet, we'll see how he goes....I'd really love to get rid of it if I can.
Becky - how are you going with no dummy/wrap??
Trish - my favourite things would be bath/massage time, he starts smiling his little head off as soon as he sees the oil and you'll probably all think I'm nuts - but I love our night time feeds. He's so warm and snuggly and feeds so beautifully, I just sit there in the quiet of the night and think about how lucky I am and how totally worth all the hard times he is! Night feeds only happen for such a short time, so I'm enjoying this special time while I can. Not to say I wouldn't be thrilled if he slept through
OK - this GDUNH thingo. I registered but haven't started 'hunting' yet cause I really don't get what I'm supposed to do! Basically just visit sites that are sponsoring and look all over the place for the icons?? Is that right?
-
Evening all! Not a lot to say really except HI!!!
Not a lot happening around here - oh except it looks like Caitlyn might have conjunctivitis! Yay day care!! Got some over the counter medication so hopefully that will help clear it up before it gets bad. Her eye is just a little weepy and she had a little bit of gunk in it this morning. Cleaned it up and it seemed fine but the lady at daycare suggested getting something over the counter for it.
KimGlad you are feeling betterish. We did start Caitlyn on apples first and she liked them but then I did read somewhere to start them on vegies cause they might turn their noses up at veges later on. So we have now had corn, pumpkin and tonight - beans!! there isnt a huge selection at our woolworths here so I will definitely have to look into making my own pretty soon so that she does get a bit more variety.
Fav thing- I can't decide on one thing! I love to talk with her, play with her, feed her, sleep with her, bath her. I LOVE picking her up from daycare at the end of the day cause she is always soooo happy to see me (oh am getting teary just thinking about it!!!)
Oh had better go and start helping DH with dinner!
night all! mwah
-
Hey all
Not a lot new here. Had another crappy night last night. (Although I guess slightly better than the night before). Chels woke up about 9 times. Fairly easy to settle but I had to give her a bottle at one stage - think it was about 3am?? Dunno.
I havent been going to well with the no wrap and dummy thing! She just wont do it! She can fall asleep easy enough in the daytime with just a dummy (no wrap) but she has to be super tired, and then she'll only sleep for about half hour or so. I got lazy today and just thought, stuff it, Im wrapping her. Her afternoon sleep she slept for 2 and a half hours! So I dont know what to do ..... ***SIGHS***
Liam and Chelsea both have colds at the moment. Dont seem to be bothering them too much but their poor little noses wont stop running!
Hope everyone else has a great night!!
-
Willow-That is pretty much it, some of the sites have mini hunt's with clue's to make it easier to find.
I'm convinced some of the sponsor's don't have the icon on their site lol.
Becky-Hope tonight is better.
-
Hi all
Not so busy day today, but still had to go out and about. L and I had a 2 hour nap this afternoon which was really nice. We both slept in my bed and the dogs were on the floor beside us. It was so nice. L doesn't sleep in our bed often, but when he does I would have to say that is one of my favourite things.
I also love his bath time. He loves to splash about and kick. Water goes everywhere but he has the time of his life. It is so much fun to be part of.
Amber - did you mean Thursday 13/3? I would prefer Garden City or Indro but it depends on who is coming on where is central for everyone.
Becky - hope tonight is better for you. Was up to L 3 times overnight so can only imagine how exhausting 9 times would be. Also having a cold wouldn't have helped.
Nickers - a second tooth! WTG Ty!
Rebecca - hope Miss C's eye gets better soon.
Willow - sounds like L has turned a corner with his sleeping
Alz - DH says he's going to video tape L's first time eating food.
I can't believe some people out there would give bub's food without the parents knowing. I would be piffed off not only because the food may not be appropriate, but also isn't it the parents right to feed their child first?? L was watching me eat toast this morning and was reaching for it. Was so tempted to offer him some but know that DH so wants to be there when he does eat solids for the first time.
I took L for his shots on Monday and the GP also did a bit of a health check (weight, HC, length etc). I am wondering if I should also go to the MCHN. GP didn't talk to me about starting solids yet. Thinking maybe I should. Don't know...
Tried out the in car bottle warmer. It took about 30mins or so to warm it enough.
I think we all deserve a big pat on the back. Our bubs are doing so well in terms of their weight gain, their development and general well being. Well done Mummies!
-
Finally found Kim's icon :D
-
Morning all,
I hope you all had a great night. We had another interesting one. Instead of waking every 40 min E woke up every 2 hours. That is better but not quite what I would like. Oh well.
Not much else to say today. I am feeling so tired and a bit anti-social. Might go back to bed soon.
Have a great day all!!!!!
-
Mo Argh still cant find kims icon!!!!! I nearly have 30 now though woo hoo! The extreme ones are too hard! I have one I think! But Some pages I have gone over and over checking every page and nothing! Sneaky sneaky people!
Rebecca hope Caitylns eye gets better! Poor bubba
Nerida yeah I meant the 13th! My brain isnt working so well on such little sleep! I think Garden city is pretty close for most of now! I know kate has just moved to the south side but I don't mind going to indro!
Alz hope you get some better sleep tonight!
Becky hope your bubbas get better soon!
Willow as mo said you just have to look for the icon some are hidden really well others are a bit easier! Good on your lil man to settle without a dummy!
Trish fav thing is bath time too! Its an instant calmer! He is beginning to splash which is cute! I also love feeding him! I love being that close to him and having that contact and knowing I am keeping him alive!
Sorry if i missed anyone:(
Well off to hunt some more icons! Myles slept a bit better last night but still up a couple of times! Have to get him weighed tomorrow cause we missed monday... wonder if he has cracked 7.5kgs yet?
Have a great day x
-
wow Myles might be crawling by 6months! what an eager beaver. love your avater pic btw.
sorry for all those having sleeping difficulties. Tyron really is my super baby, he'ssuch a placid boy. Im having more troubles with Nixon. he is just getting into everything and constantly trashing the house. He has learnt if i am on the phone he can do something and get away with it because i dont like to go mad while on the phone.
and he continues to throw food everywhere every meal time. he wont let you try to feed him but when he has had enough he has to squish it all up and throw it. its driving my bonkers. Claire im terribly sorry about Nixon's mess making yesterday
going to a wedding tomorrow! tonight i am getting a spray tan, some waxing and tinting. Hair dressers in the morning and bought a new dress for the occasion, im going all out! ok so DH ex girlfriend is in the bridal party so i gotta look my best but still just excited about doing something adult!!
ok gotta start cleaning this disgusting house
-
hello all
about making own baby food. yep. i even pureed some sweet potato last night and froze it in my baby cubes (from Big W $11).
solids (baby rice) has made all the difference to the hungry boy and he is already sleeping much better. with the blessing of the nurse, we'll start some real food next week. ooooh.
this morning was weird - the little rooster woke up at 5am *ping* not going back to sleep no matter what i tried. bah!
what do you do when they've got a full tummy, not wet, but just not interested in going back to sleep?
-
Morning all!
Feeling really great this morning. Might have something to do with only getting up to L once overnight and that was just a dummy check. He went down at about 11 and was up just before 7.30. We loaded him up on EBM and formula at his last feed so maybe that kept him going. Anyway, will try this again tonight. Sorry to brag for those of you that had a bad night.
Viv - how are you going? Don't know how to successfully put a baby down that won't sleep. I usually just endure it knowing eventually he will go to sleep. Great that he is taking to food so well.
Amber - I'll go along with what's convenient for everyone.
Nickers - your day of pampering sounds really nice. Enjoy the wedding.
Anyway, he has just gone down for a sleep so better get on and do some stuff
BBL
-
saffi - i came out from under the cloud and am miraculously totally ok with it all. in all honesty, i'm blaming PMS. looks like it took on a new form.
james has got the 'luteal phase' breast fussing again. nature must make them despise the thought of another egg coming out and making competition for the bewbies. meanwhile, he threatens to whip my nip off! :wall:
-
Afternoon all!
I went and checked out the Ergo carriers today and tried one on with K. It felt fantastic! No more shoulder pain hooray! I am going to order one online, but now I am torn as to what colour to get!! I think I'll get a black one so that it would be easy to resell when I'm done (always thinking ;) ). But then I don't know what colour liner, I love the retro green one, but would it date? Sorry, just rambling my thoughts to you all!!
Viv - Glad to hear J is sleeping better on solids. Does he sleep better o'night or during the day now or both? I'm going to start K tomorrow and I'm hoping his nights improve.
Saffi - Yay for L having a good night! You feel so much better with unbroken sleep.
Nic - Joel used to trash our house too, it was soooo frustrating! Have fun at the wedding tomorrow, I'm sure you will look gorgeous.
Amber - I'm glad Myles slept a bit better for you last night. I hope he continues to improve for you!
Rebecca - I hope Caitlyn's conjunctivits is all cleared up today. It's yucky isn't it.
Willow - O'night feeds are nice like that aren't they! Even though it sucks having to get up, it is so nice having those sleepy snuggles together.
Anyhoo, better go put Joel to bed for his arvo nap! Have a great day everyone :)
-
Hey all
Woot! Looks like my bubba might be back to normal. Went to sleep at 8 last night. Woke up at 9.30 for a dummy and re-wrap, then didnt hear from her until 5am. Gave her a bottle and back to sleep til 8.30. YAY!! All 3 of us have bad colds now. :(
I am actually child free for a few hours!!!! I am at home waiting for 2 Telstra guys and a pest man to come. I thought that no sooner would I put both the kids down for a sleep and they would turn up, so Mum offered to have them for a few hours. (She's never had 2 of them at once before.... we'll see......) Anyway, I just dont now what to do with myself! Just rlaxing around. It is nice for a change (although I miss them!)
We tried Chels on solids a few nights ago (farex). She ate it pretty well, although had a bit of trouble learning that she actually had to open her mouth for the spoon. Preferred to play with it. Anyway will try and just give her a bit at her dinner feed for the next few weeks. Last night she was really good and ate the whole bowl I made her!
Brissy girls - Im easy, anythings good with me. Amber hav you heard from Kate (she hasnt been on for a while), will she be coming too?
Nickers - Enjoy the wedding! I hope you have a great time!
Saffi - Glad you had a better night! Makes all the difference hey??
Ok, Im off to have a relax and make the most of it. BBL!
-
Well....Little Miss C's eye is ok today. When we got up this morning she had a tiny tiny bit of yellow gunk in the corner...I rang the daycare ladies and they said that was fine to bring her in. I took some ointment in with her just in case. Thanks for all the well wishing. I honestly don't think it was conjunctivitis though cause her eye wasnt red or weepy. I think she just got a bit of pumpkin in it when we were having a feed and it irritated her eye. But better to be safe than sorry!
Anyway - we had a great night last night. Down at 630 up at 330. I think she only woke then because I went in at 315 to make sure she was still breathing. I think solids is making all the difference!! Just hope it continues while Wayne is away next week (eek!!!)
Oh had better get some work done. Hope you are all having a great day.
mwah

Qu for everyone: How many of you still wrap your bubs? If you don't, what do you do???
I have had Tiera in the SIDS sleeping bags for a while now. I stopped wrapping her when she grew out of her 'My little bed' as I was worried if she was wrapped and rolled onto her tummy, she wouldn't be able to get herself back over without the use of her arms (I'm a worrier!). Also I thought she'd be happier with her arms free.
-
Tiff - I haven't wrapped L for a couple of weeks now. He was working his way out of the wrap and this was upsetting his sleep. I have also recently moved him into his cot. He is covered by a sheet and light weight blanket but mostly he wriggles up the cot and sleeps with nothing covering him. I am dressing him in a long sleeve long legged jumpsuit so he is relatively warm. Also he sleeps on his tummy now no matter how many times I turn him over onto his back and move him back down the bed. Have bought a sleep bag from Myer in the hope that it will keep him warm while he moves about the cot.
L is having huge sleeps today. He slept 3 hours this morning and is getting towards 3 hours for his afternoon sleep. Please, please, please let him sleep uninterupted overnight!
-
Just a quick one from me, so sorry for lack of personals! Gotta get dinner organised.
Wrapping - we are still wrapping at the moment but getting rid of the dummy (hopefully) is the first step in weaning him off it. Don't want to have to deal with him knocking his dummy out once his arms are unwrapped. I want him in a sleeping bag asap because he is rolling onto his tummy wrapped and then can't get back over. He is really good and cries out for me when it happens so not too concerned. Saffi - once they start sleeping on their tummy's by themselves there's not much you can do. I think it's probably a lot more comfy for them just quietly...
L had his needles today, was very brave and hardly cried at all. He's having a sleep now so hopefully he'll be fine with them. Didn't have an issue last time. Will give him some panadol before he goes to bed tonight just in case of fever etc.
Drum roll.....I think we're officially now the chubbiest bubby - his weight today was 8.1kg!!! YIKES! BUT he did have on a very wet cloth nappy so I will need to get that checked at the clinic next week.
BBL...

hello ladies. how is everyone?
its been since xmas or so since i have been on.
well, lachlan and i are going REALLY well. he is still sleeping through, it was from midnight till 11.30 for a while which was ok by me but whenever my friends wanted to do anything it was at that time or earlier so i cut out the midnight feed i do a 9pm instead. this means he wakes up at about 9.30am so its still bearable for me(i dont get to bed till after midnight as thats when craig gets home and i have to see him sometime)
eating: we are sort of breast feeding. i gave in about 4 weeks ago and was doing one bottle a day. now i still do one bottle a day but after each breast feed i usually top him up with some formula. still not interested in solids but im guessing we will be soon as he watches everything that i eat or drink.
in about the space of a week, he started all new things, rolling from tummy to back, sucking his thumb, holding his bottle, laughing and generally becoming more interactive. this means i enjoy him SO much more cos he plays an laughs at everything i do. so cute.
we had our 4mnth needles on monday, effecting him pretty bad this time. not sleeping during the day near as much as he was, must feel like carp so wants to be cuddles. i know how he feels, thats all i want when im not feeling good.
we had 3 weeks where he only put on 150g for the whole time. but backed it up the following week when he put 350g on in one hit. but he is still a little bubba weighing in at 6kg at the moment. he is quite tall though. will upload a recent pic into my gallery in a minute.
thats about all i have at the mo, will continue to pop in to check on everyones progress.
See you all soon:)

SO OVER IT!
I am getting pretty fed up with the boob feeding. All this fussing, and pulling and yanking....driving me NUTS! It seems he hardly feeds for long at all. One feed today totalled 8 minutes from both boobs and that was with all the fussy goo gaa in between....I think I'm ready to pack it in! Doesn't help that I got a blocked duct last night and it's pretty sore still!
Max will be 5 months next Wednesday so I am going to get him weighed and see if he is still gaining weight OK on what 'seems' to be less bb milk. If he IS then I know that he is feeding OK...if not, then I'm going to put him onto some food and start mixing it with formula to get him onto that too.
Anyone have any suggestions on getting off bb onto formula. I feel kind of bad, but am so desperate to do it at the same time. Tough!
Maybe all this fussing does mean he is more hungry....after all, he WAS sleeping through the night for ages, and now we are up at least once a night (not that bad I know!) The night time feed is the only one he does 'properly'
All this hard stuff....it's a good thing they make them so CUTE!
To answer some questions. I have never wrapped Max (only in hospital - plus I was carp at it!), he was in a sleeping bag as soon as we got home. Glad I did that coz he is used to it now!
Favourite thing to do with Max is take him for a walk with the dog. So relaxing and I get to pamper my pooch at the same time :) Plus I like playing on the back lawn after his 4pm feed. He gets his 'free willy' time!
Take care all

julia - i'm in exactly the same boat as you. it seems we go through a bit of the same stuff at the same time.
jj is fussbag central at the moment. i'm not sure if it's the hormones, the antibiotics for my feet, or just him that's causing it but man I'm so over it.
i love BF when it works. when i have heaps of supply, when he feeds every 3 hours and everything is normal.
at the moment he is doing about 11 feeds and i'm exhausted. he's not happy with the boob but refused that first formula i tried. i'm going to get some other sample ones next time i'm at the chemist because i reckon we're coming to the end of the road.
on the cross-over thing, i read somewhere that mixing EBM with formula mix to trick the baby into is one way, and probably what i will try if he rejects more.
he had two lots of baby rice today and STILL wanted boob. i'm sure it's a double-edged sword.... he feels bad because of my antibiotics, wants more milk to feel better but it's the very thing making him feel bad.... (i think)
about wrapping - mr wriggles won't have it. like saffi, i'm doing long suits and sheet w/ bunny rug (both folded in half). he's sleeping pretty well with it so that's that. he's lost interest int he dummy but then the 4m+ ones are nothing like my nipple so i'm not surprised. these dummies look like hippo nipples

Julia - You are doing such a fantastic job with Max! Apparently 4 months of age is a very common time for bubs to get fussy when BF'ing. My first DS Joel became extremely fussy around then and I ended up topping him up with formula and by 6 months he weaned off breastmilk and went straight to the bottle. I wish I had known that it was a phase that would pass, but I had no support back then. My friend's bub is 6 weeks older than Kieran and she went through the same problem as you when he was 4 months-ish and she stuck it out and he is feeding like a champ again. It is so stressful to go through though so you just do what you've got to do to keep sane . You could always post in the breastfeeding support area to get some advice.
Viv - You deserve a medal, you have been doing it tough with James. I really admire your perseverance, you are a fantastic mum! I promise you it will all get easier very soon . Why are you on anti-biotics? Have you been unwell? Hope you don't mind me asking!
Misskate - So good to hear from you! I've been wondering where you have been. Glad you and Lachlan are doing well.
Willow - L sounds like he did so well with his needles. I hate getting them done though!
Saffi - Yay to L for doing big sleeps today! Hope you've made the most of the free time!!
Tiff - I still wrap Kieran. If he so much as gets one hand out he won't sleep. So annoying!!
Rebecca - Glad Caitlyn's eye is OK. What a fantastic sleep she did last night! Hope she has another great night for you.
Becky - Yay for Chelsea having a good night last night! How did your mum cope with the two kids? Hope you all get better soon
Leah, Amber & Ange - Do you find the Ergo easy to put on by yourself? I tried one on today and loved it, but I'm worried it will be hard to put on by myself. Thanks for all your help BTW!

Just wanted to second what Trish said about the fussy phases of B'feeding. I fed my DD till she was 16 months (we weaned because I'd lost my second baby and was in hospital sick and devastated, but still feel guilty about that!) and I can promise you fussy stages will come and GO! We had a pretty bad one a few weeks back where he refused the breast for about 11 hours straight. Next day he was fine. :dunno:
The other thing is Julia, as they get older, they get more and more efficient at feeding. Max could be feeding for 8 mins and be getting 150-200mls of breast milk. There's no way for you to know how much he's taking. Both my babies have been fast, efficient feeders. I remember getting ourselves into all sorts of trouble with DD because I was positive she wasn't feeding for long enough so would try to put her back on, she'd get upset, wouldn't feed and around and around we'd go. It wasn't until an LC watched her feed and told me she was very efficient and fast, a no nonsense kind of feeder, that I relaxed. In the end she was done in about 5 mins flat. If Max is gaining weight and seems happy and content generally, then I'd say you're doing a perfect job ;)
At the end of the day, you have to be happy. If you feel like your time is up, then it's up. But if you're just worried he is not getting enough or like Viv, you've hit a rough patch of constant feeding/fussing/whatever, I found most of the time it passed, it never lasted long.
Viv - if you're on anti'bs and are ovulating/have had AF come to visit, then massive chance that's why jj is fussing. How long are you on the antib's for? Some babies become fussy every month due to hormonal changes - one of my best friends girls is like that (she has twins) but its just for a day or two and then she's back to normal.
So if you want to, stick with it! We're all here to support you.
