Viv, It slipped my mind before - I was going to mention Dr. Louis Fenelon... He is really good! He doesn't bulk bill, but he is really thorough and his Australian and can understand what his saying...
Nickers-yes I got him on Medicare which is good because I went to the dr and the lady smirked saying they couldnt bulk bill me for him I'd have to pay full and I said I already got him on my medicare! I need his birth certificate for Daddy, he's a NZer and doesn't have medicare and they want a copy of Ryan's cert that says he is the father, our mortgage agreement and his employment and all these other details to prove that he is planning on sticking around and not buggering off back to NZ anytime soon.
I have two questions was wondering if anyone wanted to share lol
1. when did you/are you plannin on DTD? Are you meant to wait a certain time?
2. my antibiotics finish tomorrow, how long will the stuff stay in my boobyjuice for?
Got a cot today it's soo much easier than the travel cot dont have to bend down to pick him up lil chubchub has put on weight was starting to hurt my back reaching down!
We will DTD as soon as im ready...and like last time.. thats as soon as bleeding stops!! Just take it slow...if you had stitches could be a little tender so be careful.
Not sure on the antibiotics tho.
It keeps almost stopping then it starts up again, but now its just period sort of stuff before was bright red blood blood from stitches. You can bleed for upto 6 weeks can't you? I was just curious not really interested in any time too soon but thought you were meant to wait a certain timeframe or the like they expect you should wait? I dunno sleep deprivate..blah
Hey
NT - We would love to have another one (or two) but not in the next few years. When DS starts school I think we might start trying again. I really dont think I could handle 3 at home!! Im getting Implanon put in next week. And how long do you think it will take for us Queenslanders to get the baby bonus? I know with DS it took just under 3 weeks, but dont know if they have become a bit slacker this time?
Kim - Do you plan on starting to try in 12 months, or want it to be born in 12 months?
Catherine - Chels is the same, will sleep through anything!
Celtic - Same, we will DTD when I stop bleeding. I had a second degree tear too, but I feel no pain down there what so ever, so will just wait til then.
2 more questions....
Has everyone else got their baby bonus' yet?
Is anyone still bleeding heavily? I have no pain down there whatsoever, but am still bleeding quite heavily. I thought it should be easing up by now. Feel fine though.
Becky i think it will be *wait 12 months*...altho.........LOL...we said last time we would wait...2 weeks after Chelsea was born it was a different story!! But def wait a little while :(
Celtic ive not ever been told if theres a time frame for waiting to DTD....my GP has always said when i feel comfortable then do it. At my 6 week check up my GP actully asked if id DTD since having Chelsea....just to give them a guide whether things are back to normal or if theres problems that need to be addressed. Of course that does not mean you *have* to have sex before then IYKWIM?
No baby bonus here yet.
Bleeding getting lighter but dont seem to wanna bugger off! I know last time it was all gone by 10 days post birth....then came back a week or so later heavy for another 5-7 days....but im taking a guess that was AF returning....only cos thats when i fell pg with Jasmine.
We got the babybonus within 3 days of calling the Family Assistance people and have our tax A & B payments already going into our account. We put $1000 onto bills to keep things ahead and payed, especially rates, have $1500 aside for car rego's next year and a $1000 emergency fund and the rest is in our account to pay for nappies and all that, and when I get his birth certificate will be putting $200 into an account for Ryan. My dad wanted us to get a plasma tv for when he visits but we need an antenna first!! lol and nothing wrong with our big old tellies.
I got sleep last night yay!! I handed Ryan over to Daddy after cooking, cleaning, feeding and all he did was sit at the computer playing World of Warcraft and didn't help me when I burnt myself and said "here he's yours, you've got the next feed I'm going to bed!" and went to bed and slammed the door, got a sleep from 11pmish till 5:30 UNBROKEN!! Awww bliss..
Baby Bonus - I lodged mine the Tuesday after Rhys was born and they told me between 10 and 21 working days it can take for it to come through. But still haven't recieved it!!
Question about FTB payments: I know you recieve them fortnightly but I lodged for that the same day I did the baby bonus so when should I expect to see my first payment. It has been 2 weeks since I lodged tuesday just gone.
Recieved our new medicare cards yesterday with Rhys on them....They look funny with 3 names on them!! Lol....
I have been waking up in the middle of the night thinking that Rhys is in bed with us and DH has rolled on top of him or something like that and I frantically search the bed....But he isn't even in bed with us, he is in his cradle right next to me!! Anyone else doing this or am I the only one?? Must be my mind playing tricks on me and telling me not to have him in bed with DH and I.
I can't believe Rhys is 3 weeks old already. Where has the time gone, I am saying this now, wait until he is a year old!! Haha....
Re: More kiddies - I am ready for more already!! Lol....I want 4 and DH only wants 2 but if we fall pregnant with twins next time round we will definately have to have 4 cause we don't want odd numbers!! We are still so young that we thought even if we have 4 that we can have 2 now 2 years apart in age and once they are in school have more that way it isn't so hard on me!! Can you tell DH thought of that....How considerate of him!!
I wanna DTD now....But still have really light bleeding....Only using panty liners now which is good cause I hate pads.
my old dr didn't bulk bill either, so no drama there. where is this dude? i've never had a male doctor. don't know how i feel about them looking up my ladeez bits.
The hospital midwife suggested we try it at 5 weeks so that i can tell the doctor at the 6-week checkup if any contents have moved during shipping etc. the bleeding has waned to pale brown so it could be sooner... *waggles eyebrows*
i know it's your choice, becky, but implanon is as close to the devil as i can fathom. i put on weight, had nasty acne, cried all the time, had spotting all the time and was generally an unhappy camper. had it taken out after 3 months. my doctor said she removed all of the ones she put in long before the expiry was due.
as for baby bonus... they reckon 2-3 weeks but i guess we'll just see...
good morning everyone
Tahlia did her 1st massive spew last night... it went everywhere, all over my pants, top, the chair I was sitting on... it didn't even worry her! It worries me more, cause now I worry she isn't getting enough milk!
Booked into a breast feeding day stay clinic tomorrow so hopefully can learn lots and pick up more tips
Hope everyone is well
We got our baby bonus pretty quickly not sure when exactly but within 3 weeks!
Still no birth certificate! Maybe i can get some sort of letter or something from them cause i need to claim my holiday!haha!
Sex maybe soon Im feeling pretty good, bleeding has stopped, stitches have healed just waiting in the all clear next week from the ob! I know DH is hanging for it lol!
Amelia dont worry about the dreams! I had them every night thinking he was in the bed or DH had squashed him! And sweating so bad but its all gone now! Now im just dreaming of polticians OMG!!!
Hi everyone hope your getting some sleep! x
Vivienne, he is at Westfield... in the actual shopping centre. I had a female Dr before him - but he doesn't make me feel akward. Some people don't like paying for Drs... especially here on the Gold Coast where so many of them bulk bill - back home, the Dr didn't bulk bill... All the other Drs at his clinic bulk bill except for him. JIC, the practice name is Helensvale Family Healh Care Centre. They bare weigh aswell.
ETA - This is random, but on the topic of DTD... Is anyone else having erotic dreams? I mean DTD couldn't be the furtherst thing from my mind... but I keep dreaming about it!
When I sleep I'm out for the count! No dreams except when Ryan cries then I dream he's fallen out of bed or I've left the door open and the cats are on him or something that jolts me awake, even though I NEVER forget to shut the wiredoor lol, guess it's the way my body makes sure I wake up properly to go feed him :)
I logged the Family Assistance stuff on the 26th I think, I got baby bonus about 4-5days later and first payment on the 5th, got Ryan's medicare card today too, no birth certificate though think I'll ring them today and ask how long it takes if I knew it took this long I'd have express posted it and payed the extra $7!!!
So annoyed at bleeding it's like a teaspoon every pad change WHATS THE POINT?? lol Least when you get your periods its heavy for 7 days then stops, this is just annoying...
Antibiotics finish today yay!!
thanks catherine. i'll see if i can muster up the guts to see a male doctor. (silly i know). maybe there are female ones at the practice?
celticmoon - i'm down to the dregs of yellowy blood now too. boring... wish it would just go away already.
I found male doctors are waaay better then females.
We recieved birth certificate today......only sent it off on Monday!!
Catherine - I am having those dreams!! It is the last thing on my mind before I go to bed but I seem to still dream about it!!
Well Kaylee is sleeping soundly in the sling!... We actually had an ok night too! She spread her feeds out a lil, which was nice. Although, doesn't seam to matter how long I have slept for I find the early morning feed tough, actually fell asleep in the chair while feeding her this morning...
DTD - we did, very gently around 3-4 weeks I think it was, and then once more since then. Both too wrecked to have done it more or we would have (& yes have had the occassional dream too, more earlier = I think it's because of the hormones!)... But I had a c/s, so no pain down there. Dr said was ok after 3-4 weeks as long as it was gentle, and 'swinging from the chandeliers' (what he said, not me!) ok after 6 weeks!
Baby bonus, birth certificate & medicare card all received fairly close together! Can't remember how long it took, but didn't feel like long... oh and the A&B payment, got our first one with the Baby Bonus and then it said we would get it fortnightly from then on.
Hard to find a bulk billing Dr in WA!... And if you do, they are usually the worst at running extremely late. One time I waited over 2 hours to see a bulk billing Dr, to be rushed in and out so fast I hardly had time to blink let alone ask questions! I prefer to pay and claim what I can on Medicare = with Dr's here it seams the saying you get what you pay for applies!
I just got a phone call from Centrelink/Family Assistance Department....The stupid twat of a women that did my claim for me entered my DOB as the 14/10/2006 which is actually the date we got married and entered the date we got married as the 03/06/1987 which is my DOB!!! Grrrr...... But they said I will have it by wednesday next week!! YAY!!!! Along with our first FTB payment then fourtnightly from there.
I go to a Bulk Billing Dr here in Beenleigh and she is the best Dr I could ask for. She always has time for me and never rushes me. I always walk in with a list of questions to ask her cause I never remember!! Lol.
I have a male Dr now and he is really good!! But in the past have gone for female Drs.
If any of you are interested...register for online services on Centrelink website and you can view when your payments will be.
I just checked mine and the baby bonus is schelduled to go in on the 12th November.
Hi all, it's so strange not being on BellyBelly all the time! Had Kieran in bed with us last night so I could get some sleep as he didn't want to settle in his own bed and I was too tired to keep trying. Today he is sleeping really well for his naps, only needing to be settled a couple of times for a few seconds. MCHN is coming over between 3-3:30pm so I'm looking forward to finding out if he is still gaining weight nicely.
Joel is finally calming down and behaving a bit better. He still has his moments, but he is nowhere near as bad as he was the first couple of days. Hopefully by mid next week when DH goes back to work he will be back to his normal happy self. I keep having nightmares wondering how I will cope when DH goes back!
Looking forward to our baby bonus! We ordered some block out Roman blinds for Joel's room yesterday because his room lights right up when the sun comes up and he is waking far too early. The baby bonus will help pay for those! We have to wait 2-3 weeks until they are ready though because it is getting close to Christmas. I don't know if I can wait that long! Don't they understand I need my sleep?!
Hope everyone is having a great day!
My MCHN is ment to be here between 12-4.....i hate when i get given a huge time frame!!
Jasmine is sleeping well...wont wake for feeds thru the day....keeps us up all night!
So starting tonight....Craig will go bed early....and ill stay up, then tomorrow i can sleep and he watches the kids....take it in turns goin to bed early each night!
forgot to mention the erotic dreams. i have had those the entire pregnancy and even after surgery. wtf. it's because i wasn't getting any i suppose... really, really raunchy dreams. yay :confetti:
We haven't cracked open the baby bonus or medicare or health fund paperwork just yet but after reading everyones posts I think i'll do it now!
Re another baby... we definately want another one and will probably wait until Hayley is about 2 or thereabouts. Although DH came out last night saying how much he is loving us now being a 'family' and that a second baby should be on the cards sooner than we had discussed! I think he is just besotted with his daughter....
Re DTD - so don't feel like it at the moment, am still sore and tender with the stitches as well as still bleeding so there is no chance we're back at it just yet.
Does anyone else wake up sweating? I never used to have a perspiration problem but I feel like I'm drenched in sweat when I wake up - its very odd.... And no, its not from having any hot dreams!
Right, off to do some paperwork!
aagghhh - why can you never find a black pen when you need it! I have a billion blue pens but no black....
Kate- yep re the sweat. i never sweat much but have been waking up sweating a lot lately.
i was in hosp too but thought it was the crappy matress beds that are plasticy, but still happening since being home?? dunno why that is?
i always have way out dreams about anything and everything. cant remember if the erotic ones have increased or not but i know i had a few of them whilst pg!
well Tyron is 3 1/2weeks old and still waiting for a MCHN phone call to organise a visit, quiet annoyed at that. i rang them on Monday they didnt have any of my details and she entered them in and said i will get a call, still waiting....
Hehehehe, KateP, wait till you have to hide all the pens and all other writing/drawing implements!!
We started to DTD again monday. and again last night. DH is happy! Sorry, TMI!
Nic, those MCHN are a bit slack! Hope they come soon. The girls are being ratbags once again today, oh to be on a island with a ****tail.
Have a good one everybody.
Bec
Kate - I too wake up in a sweat at night. I really don't sweat ordinarily unless I am being quite active on a summers day, and even then its nothing like what it had been lately! Its a grosse feeling!
RE DTD - REALLY don't feel like it at all! Last thing on my mind, but will definately hold out at least the 6 weeks due to the extent of tearing I had. I still have a fair bit of pain too so have no idea how long it will take for that to go away.
Tiera sleeps quite well at night. She had a feed at 9:30pm last night then didn't wake until 3:30am, so we got a great sleep in ten. I woke at 1:30am and 2:30am the to check on her as she hadn't woken and she was fast asleep. She then woke again at about 4:30 and wouldn't go back to sleep, so I layed on the lounge with her and we slept there until about 7am this morning. My main prob is I put her to sleep in my arms most of the time, rather than putting her to bed while she is settled so she can put herself to sleep. As of her first sleep today, she will be putting herself to sleep, even if I have a let her cry a bit.
Hope everyone is having a great day.
Pish - Did you have a third degree tear?
Trish - Im the same, DS is finally starting to calm down! I even got him to have an afdternoon nap today!!! Yippee!!!! First time since Chels has been born.
Im starting to feel like DTD now (TMI) but cant cause of this stupid bleeding! Grrr. How much longer?????
Hope everyone else is well!
MCHN came and Kieran had put on 90g in 3 days which is great! She said 20g + per day is good, so I'm glad the porker is putting on 30g a day. I told her that he is pretty unsettled after a feed and she suggested that we try Infacol to help his digestive system and bring up burps. I said that the box said not to use it until 1 month of age, but she said you can use it from 4 days onwards. I have just sent DH out to buy some now! She also showed me a great settling technique to get him to sleep which I'd actually worked out for myself earlier today, but it was great to see an expert do it and it actually worked. He cried for less than a minute and hasn't woken up since! I am hoping it works for me tonight so I don't have to bring him in to bed with me.
Tiff - Tiera sounds like a great night sleeper!
rallybbek - I take my hat off to you having two other children to care for. I'm finding one older child difficult to deal with!
Nic - Can't believe you haven't heard from your MCHN! Is it just a busy time for them ATM?
Kim - Does Jasmine feed if you wake her up for daytime feeds? I wake Kieran after 3 hours if he doesn't wake up during the day (probably sounds cruel of me!). I did this with Joel too and he started sleeping through the night pretty quickly, by 5.5 weeks he slept 8 hours through the night. I really hope Kieran does the same thing! I know not all parents are happy to do this though so please disregard my comments if it doesn't suit you guys ;)
Becky - Glad to hear your DS is calming down too! It gives you hope doesn't it?
Trish - What is this settling technique? Not that I can really complain, Chels is a very good baby, but sometimes after her midnight feed, she just wants to play.........
Becky - We swaddled him in a muslin(sp?) wrap in a way that allows him to move his hands around within it and he can kick his legs (though it probably doesn't matter how you swaddle them as long as they are comfy) then put him to bed on his side - propped safely with a bunny rug - popped a dummy in his mouth (don't worry if you don't use one), put one hand on his shoulder and held the dummy in his mouth while using the other hand to pat him on the back. He cried seriously for less than a minute then he got quieter, then he stopped altogether and has been asleep for over an hour now! I tried this earlier today (didn't swaddle as well as the MCHN did) and it worked, though he woke up after about 5 minutes so I just did it again and didn't hear from him again. She said that if they are still crying after 2 minutes, pick them up and cuddle them, then put them down and start again. Fingers crossed it works just as well for us tonight!
i can definitely put my hand up for the sweating thing. i wake up with the back of my head drenched.
i remember blaming the plastic beds at hospital too. i figured it was just getting hot here in queensland. maybe not.
just add it to the list of parts of me leaking stuff... *drains boob onto towel*
sigh.
james is having a little tantie in his rocker - one of those, god knows why tantrums.
awesome.
Yay we got our birth certificate today!!!! Now to track down that holiday!
Sweating at night! I was a ball of sweat everynight even with the aircon on 18degrees! Its stopped now along with the dreams of Myles being rolled on! The sweating was so gross i felt like I had just jumped in a pool! eww! At least now I know I am not the only one! x
Trish - Do you do it while he is wide awake? Or do you get him semi tired first. I find Chels is a great sleeper - if and when she is tired, but if she is not rired, she just wont sleep!
Becky - I do it when he is wide awake, but showing signs he is getting tired (cranky, jerky movements, etc...). Your little one sound like she likes her wake time!
What a lot of chatter to catch up on.
Had a s@#$ of a night with L, up at 2am, again at 4 and again at 6! I think I know where we stuffed up. L slept from about 8.30pm and didn't have a feed since around then. I was comatose on the lounge from about 9.30, DH went to bed around 11 and I went to bed around 11.30. So poor L didn't have a feed since 8! I will need to make sure one of us does a late evening feed. Can't say that will stop the overnight feed but might stop being every 2 hours which is a bit much (I think!).
Trish - will give that settling technique a try. Go the dummy!!! I went back to swaddling this morning and he did seem more settled. Its cooler up here atm but when it is so hot it seems cruel to wrap them up even if in muslin.
We lodged the medicare forms at the office and she enrolled L into medicare, did the safety net registration, and got us all on the one card, as well as paying a claim all in the one visit. Still needed to phone the call centre about the baby bonus and the family tax stuff, but it sped up the process I thought.
With all the talk of DTD got me thinking about contraception. Was on the pill for 11 years before we started trying (so been off pill and all other types of contraception for over 3 years). There is no way I'm going back on the pill. I suspect some of my prob's in conceiving was because of the pill! Don't think DH would be keen on condoms. Might look into getting an IUD. What are the rest of you thinking?? Did use a billings type method to help me get pregnant but don't trust that it will stop me from falling pg.
The hospital referred me for an at home MCHN visit. When I hadn't heard from them I rang and got in to the clinic on Monday this week. The service rang yesterday (a week after discharge) to set up a home visit. Suppose I was a little impatient, but you are told to get in contact with them asap - which I did!
Happy cause I fit into some prepregnancy pants today. Lost about 7 kilos so far. If only it was that easy normally.
Smelly nappy to change!
hey ladies,
im on the sweat band wagon as well... hard core sweating in the middle of the night... its gross!
Trish i hate waking for feeds...but if i dont Jasmine only gets 4..maybe 5 feeds in a day if im lucky. She feeds well then goes back to sleep. Today was forst day i really started wakign for feeds however.
My MCHN came and Jas has put on 330grams in 2 weeks!! Woohoo bubba!
She also has sticky eye atm so thats not so nice :(
Oh...and the other thing....she has this red mark on her head and it was annoying me...turns out its a stock mark....kinda cute :P
I have a LC appointment next week so i can switch to fully BF.
Kim - you must be pleased with Jas' weight gain. That must be some good stuff you are feeding her LOL. L also has a sticky eye atm too. Looks gross but is not contagious and will go away by itself (so Baby Love says).
