Thanks Trish. I may have discovered the secret. After his bath I gave him a quick feed and he was starting to fall asleep.Got him off the boob quickly, swaddled him - which woke him up (was so scared at that point), but perserved and put him down, still awake. In the time it took to sterilise his dummy he was asleep. Amazing how small successes can pick u up!
Weighed at the clinic today and he has put on 150gr in a week. Now 3.3kgs! Feel good about that too.

Hi everyone.
Most of you I know from Belly Buddies, but to the others I don't know congratulations on your bubs and hope all is going well. My name is Terri and I had my little boy Mateo on the 25th October. I am a Brissy girl and a teacher normally but am loving being at home with my bub!
This is the first chance I've had to post as we have had visitors galore and this is the first week Mateo and I have had the house to ourselves. We had been going really well and Ithought I was one of the lucky ones who had a lovely, placid bub but on Friday we both caught a cold and the poor little fella has been miserable since. He is full of mucous and the only way he can get it out is to vomit it up. It's been really upsetting to see him so uncomfortable but today he pretty much slept all day and was breathing heaps easier so am hoping that means he is getting better. The good news is that he is still feeding beautifully and apart from the cold is otherwise a healthy, content little boy.
Trish - i hear ya on the sleep front!! I think my adrenalin from the excitement of having him has worn off as this week I have felt so, so tired!!!
Boomba - congrats on Myles gaining weight and being a healthy little bubba! It is a bit scary sometimes that this whole little person relies soley on you isn't it? Are you a Brissy girl? I used to do pregnancy yoga in West End on Wednesdays (Suzanne Swan, baby yoga) - is that where you do it? I would love to go back but it is expensive and now that we are living off one wage we are on a tight budget! :-)
Saffi - I really hope tonight is a better one for you. Do you think they just have off days sometimes? Last Monday Mateo wanted to fed every 1-2 hours for all of Monday afternoon, night and Tuesday morning and we couldn't put him down otherwise he would just scream and he wasn't hungry or windy or anything else. By Tuesday arvey he was fine and back to his 3-4 hour feeds and sleeping contently in between! All for no apparent reason! What I have found really great (especially since he has been sick) is to just keep him on me in the baby bjorn sling. He is as happy as larry and I can still get things done as I was finding having to walk around and sit with him for hours on end really frustrating.
Anyway, good to catch up on how everyone is doing and am looking forward to getting to know everyone else.
Here's hoping for a good night for all filled with at least a little sleep! :-)
Terri. xoxo
-
Saffi - didn't see your post as had to feed half way through writing! Well done! Let's hope he stays like that now! xo

Hi,
Viv's Question Of The Day - Mothers Groups
With Eliza I went to the local MCHN group like someone else mentioned where they meet for 6 weeks and cover a topic per week then after that you can keep meeting up if you like. It was good and I did enjoy some adult conversatio once a week. We moved away when Eliza was 6 months old and I never got into one here.
This time I probably won't join one. I have afriend here who had twins on the 23rd Oct and another friend due in December so I will probably meet up with them, plus our cloth nappy group has about 3 pregnancies going at the moment so we have bubbas galore here.
For first time Mums I think its a great idea, but if you don't like it or you don't click with your group then you can just ditch it. I did try a couple of Playgroups up here for Eliza when she was little but they were very clicky and I felt like an intruder so I didn't keep going.
Took the girls for a walk tonight in the double pram, very cute. Both are asleep for the first time in the evening since Amara was born. She is usually super festy now and screaming so I am enjoying the silence.
Night, sleepy vibes to all bubbas!
-
Have put some photos of Mateo in gallery. :-)
-
Leah have spoken to Craig and he said if we can arrange a meet up while we r up your way thats cool. IL's live at Tanilba Bay so might be able to catch up on way home. We leave VIC on 29th Nov....In Tanilba the 2nd and 3rd, driving back towards mums on the 4th..(so if we were able to visit it be the 4th).
The kids are OK in the car when they wanna be....thinking of leaving really late at night to take advantage of darkness and hoping they will sleep thru!!
-
Welcome Star (Terri) and Mateo - congrats on your little boy
Went to the dr this afternoon abt Maddi and James. James' cough is just his asthma so got to up the dosage on his puffers, he did have a low grade fever so usign Nurofen - give him a couple of days and hopefully he should settle down - though he is still awake coughing alot.
Maddi is now on a different formula - Novalac Reflux - from the chemist. Dr said sounds likes she has definite reflux with possible heartburn. But I also have to collect a urine sample and then go back in a couple of days. First feed went well and Maddi had no spews at all but the second feed took ages (over an hour) and she seems unsettled again although nowhere as bad.
Maddison did get weighed and she is 4.2kg and 58cm - just like her brother she is going to be tall.
Night Night mummies and babies - time to catch the zzzzzzzzzz's while Maddi does.
-
OK girls, very stupid question but.......How do you know if you have a hemmoroid without looking???
Sorry if TMI!!!
-
Becky- There are different types, they can be internal or external. They are basically a varicose vein in your bum. They can vary in size from a tiny bubble to worm like i think.
I guess i have one b/c it was a little painful to poo, and when i wiped there was a little bit of blood. If it is internal you cant feel or see anything. However i believe you would feel an external one. My GF says she pops hers back in now and then if it pops out?! i googled it and checked out a few! LOL
Hope no-one is sitting at their computer eating. Sorry. :p
Now this is probably a one off, but i put L to sleep at 10pm and i had to wake her at 6.30am for a feed! My bazookas were killing me. Can you believe that???? She had her worst night sleep the night before and was unsettled all arvo, so must have worn herself right out. I feel on top of the world!
I did wake at 4am in a panic and flew out of bed to see if she was still breathing.
To add to that great news, she has started smiling when you smile at her. V.Cool.
Hi Star. :) i love Mateo's name. Is that French? I met a guy called Matteo in France once.... Hope his cold is on the way out.
Re: Mothers group, the next one in this area starts in Jan, hopefully we wont be living here by then. But if we are i might sneak along to see how it goes. They do a resus course for babies, which i'd be interested in. I don't like my MCHN much though and i think she runs the first 6 weeks, so will see.....
Going for a wax today, can't bring myself to have the usual braz yet. Get the feeling it might hurt more after all the trauma down there lately?!
I have really shared this morn havn't i? :cryinglaugh:
-
ROFL - Um... that story about your friend Ange... was a bit much! Jks.. Did make me think twice about the sultanas in my ceral bowl. Could it not be a fissure?
-
yeah sorry! maybe it is a fissure, but i wasn't sure if they were painful or not.....
-
Hee hee! LOL at the popping in and out of the worm!!
Ange - am so envious of your night's sleep!! That's awesome! My husband is Italian so that's where my little man's name comes from. I find people either love it or hate it, but it suits him so we're happy with it. What is your little girl's name?
Brissy/GC girls - would love to catch up with bubs. A suggestion - there is a massive park in Logan where we take our kids to do cross country. There is a big playground for Mums with older kids as well and lots of nice shady trees etc. Kind of halfway for all of us?
Well, we had a great night's sleep last night. Mateo grizzled on and off pretty much from 7pm till 10ish which was fine cause I don't mind when we are both up and about anyway. Had a feed, went to sleep, woke at 2am and then 5am and is still sound asleep now - Yey!!! Feel 100% Amazing what a little sleep can do hey? :-)
-
If you have a fissure u will know about it! Trust me...i still have mine from when Chelsea was born. If it feels like ur trying to push razors outta ya butt...u more then likely have one!
HAd a good sleep last night. Jasmine went to sleep at 8pm and never woke til 2am for a feed! There was no way i was waking her at 10pm for a feed cos she is a bugger to get back to sleep!!
-
Star- Her name is Luella, but we often call her Falguni around these parts! :)
Sounds like it was a good sleeping night last night.
-
peta - while james weighs a ton and seemed huge, he is just very long, so he still fits doubles well and in some brands triples. his bonds wondersuit in a triple is too snug now. he was like a giraffe, all gangly limbs and head, his body is actually still quite normal sized.
we're hoping that head contains a huge brain, so he can come up with the next internet company and keep his parents in diamonds and rubies with his billions.
i think we're going to have a very tall d00d on our hands (dad is 6'2, uncles are 6'4ish)
cath et al - very keen to have a GC or Bris meetup. I sort of 'know' you guys so it seems a little easier and more appealing that just chancing it with the community health group. would it be too much to come up with a weekly day/time so we can plot for it, rather than changing it each time which gets complex with all the various schedules.
haemmy's... my suggestion, classy as it is, squat over a mirror girlfriend, you'll soon see what's going on in buttville....
-
i would LOVE a catch up, that would be a great idea. Logan sounds good. sunday and monday are doable for me but would prefer any other day. hope we actually do meet up, unlike when we had the idea six months ago lol
-
Logan sounds good to me... Is everyone Ok with Logan and it being held at a park? The only thing I am concerned about is the QLD heat in a park on the little bubbas...
Viv - I am going to the CHC mothers group today... It's not very good, I find the mother's there quite random... But I'm going just to get Ro weighed. I like the sound of a regular meet-up! Our GC group is great, just not regular... They are coming over my house tomorrow if you'd like to join. I live in Pacific Pines, which is the exit after Molendinar on the Smith St MWY.
-
Logan sounds good to me. Just concerned with the weather being so hot and the rain coming out of no where lately so I was thinking maybe the Hyperdome cause they have their piazza area outside with a little playground for those with the toddlers but all the coffee shops and that are air conditioned.
-
piazza is a wise choice.
catherine - am so there for tomorrow - what time? will have to get dh to bring me over. how long does it usually go for? email yer addy?
-
Welcome Terri! I do a yoga class at burliegh heads doem the coast. Its run by a very dear friend! I love your bubbas name very cute!
Brissy meet up! The piazza at hyperdome sounds good! Just tell me where and when!
Trish I did start that post at like 4pm and didnt finish till an hr or so later so it took me a while, but once he was down i managaed better! Hope you and bubba are well!
Ha Ange Falguni I had totally forgotten about Lil L aslias!:p
Well off to the Ob now so have a great day ladies!x
-
falguni will stick forever. it's just how it is.
while my mother may have settled on 'Vivienne' at the urgings of my siblings, her initial name choice for me was.... MARIGOLD! can we not?
-
GC/brissy girls - Logan Hyperdome sounds perfect. Would prefer a weekday,'tho can do a weekend, and the only days that don't suit me are 19/11, 20/11, 23/11, 6/12 and 13/12. Really look forward to meeting you all. Could we look at sometime in the next month, before Xmas festivities start to take up all our time? Maybe the first week of December?
Star - hi stranger! Glad to hear things are going well with you, DH and Mateo. Loved the photos. He certainly has a thick crop of dark hair.
After our hellish day yesterday, L slept straight through from 7pm to 3am, and then we were up every hour or so after that. He then slept from about 8am to 10.30ish. I am learning more of the triggers that he is sleepy. He fell asleep in my arms and I even took off my top to place in his basinette so he could "smell" me and think I was still near. I read that somewhere.
Got 2 lots of visitors coming today. Should break the monotony of the day
-
Viv- oh yeah if you wanna reveal who your SS was after we all open thats fine but if someone wants to stay anonimuios we cant force it upon them! (unless u have a tactic up your sleeve!)
Ursula- i just needed to know for your SS whether you wanted the present just for Maddy or half for you and half for her or just for you! Your ss is waiting to get something until she knows for sure.
Mothers group- its mostly for first time mums. i joined one in melb with Nixon. we did the 6wk thing and exchanged numbers and then started meeting at each others houses once a fortnight.
we also went to vairous mums and bubs movie sessions highly recommend that while u can! once they get to a certain age its too hard but when they are so young its great!
Then we also started a swimming group together. most of the dads took the kids.
toward the one yr mark it started slowing down cause a lot of mums went back to work and i have heard since they very rarely meet up. its a shame i enjoyed it.
there end up being 8 of us and 2 have since had another baby and another 2 are pg. so if i were down there still id prob be still seeing these ones, but not to be. when we finally work out where we are living i want to join a play group.
wow Ange what a great sleep whoo hoo! Tyron did 2 good stints last night. 6pm-12.45am and then next feed at 6.45am. but he has been very sooky thismorning, hasnt let me get anything done so im wearing him in the HAB now.
my gf with 13m old twins is driving up from melb to stay with us for a couple of days so excited to see them! but ofcourse i had a zillion things i wanted to get done which so far i havent been able to do.
-
I've always hated my name, even thought about changing it.
I wish someone had tried to talk my mum out of calling me Morwenna.
Ever since i had to put Maddi on fomula she's been sleeping great, she just doesn't sleep much through the day but she's alseep by 7-8pm usually, then i wake her around 11:30pm, then she sleeps till 6am, She's even sleeping in her cot more which is great, but i miss not having her so close to me.
-
Saffi - same thing is happening with Tahlia at the moment, she is happy having a comfort suck, falls asleep in my arms, I put her back in her bassinette and she screams, its very tiring...
Star - great pics of Mateo - what a cutie!
Tahlia had a restless night last night, woke up at about 9pm and was awake till about 11 - she had a wind pain, however when I try to get it out of her she can smell my milk and wants to comfort suck. DH can get a burp from her in about 5 mins but he is back at work so I dont want him to sleep deprived as he might hurt himself at work if he is tired... She sleeps so well during the day, I have to try and figure out how to teach her the difference between night and day
I've uploaded some new pics of Tahlia to my gallery for those that are interested
-
Waaaaaaah, i wanna go to piazza! *stamps feet*
So many brissy gals. A friend just had a baby up that way, she lives in North Lakes. Due to visit them in the next 6 months, so might crash the party then!
MARIGOLD? LMAO. i guess with so many kids she had to get creative.
Mo- i like your name!
Kellied- how good are their noses, they can smell milk a mile away hey?
she's falguni when she's evil, luella when she's good. :)
-
Ditto your waaah re piazza Ange - we have so many friends who've moved up to Brissy/Gold Coast and we dream that one day we'll be there too!!!
Great pics Star and Kellie! Your bubs are just adorable :)
I must go and find my camera cord to download a few new pics as well.....
We've had a good day today - i got a few more hours sleep this morning and then after Hayleys lunch time feed I even got to read my Marie claire from cover to cover! bliss!!! :):):):)
So all the Brissy/GC gals are planning a catch up - how about all the Sydney girls and bubs?? Anyone keen??
-
The catch ups sound like a great idea, pity I live in vic! Toby has been great today, had a foul day yesterday and monday.
Lucky you kate for ggetting to read a mag from cover to cover. I swear my kids hear my bum hit the chair when i am going to read eat or have a coffee. LOL so I am always never finishing what i started.
Have a good day.
Bec

Hi everyone!
Some exciting news for me today!! My sister had a baby girl this morning!!! Our babies are exactly 2 weeks apart in age, that is so awesome! The bizarre thing is that her SIL is currently in labour and should have her bub on the same day! They were due on the same day too (16/11), how weird is that?? I can't wait to go and visit them tonight.
We spent the morning in Port Melbourne, looked at a property for sale, had a coffee, took Joel to a park there and I b'fed Kieran in the car, so it was nice to get out for once. I'm feeling a bit house-bound at the moment and it will only get worse when DH goes back to work tomorrow :( .
Re: mothers group. I also joined one throught the child health centre with Joel when he was 6 weeks. We all got along great so kept meeting weekly. When the bubs turned 12 months most girls went back to work. A few of us girls continued to meet on and off and I'm still really good friends with a couple of them, but we don't meet up that often. The whole group is planning a meet up in December though, so that should be nice. I highly recommend giving your group a go, you never know who you will meet!
Star - Great to hear from you again! Mateo is such a handsome little man!
Saffi - Sounds like you got a little bit of peace last night. I wonder if Lachlan is in any discomfort? I know babies want to be held a lot when they are in pain or discomfort. I had a nightmare of a time with Joel when he was tiny. He would only sleep during the day if I held him (no probs sleeping at night in his cot) and would crack it if I tried to put him in his cradle or cot. Even during his wake time, he would only last 5 or 10 minutes before wanting to be picked up. After lots of tears from both of us we finally discovered that he had a dislocated shoulder from birth that was never picked up! We took him to a paediactric chiropracter who sorted him out and things got a lot better after that.
Anyway, I think I've written a small novel. Sorry for my ramblings everyone!
-
Port Melb, is lovely trish. Wouldn't mind living there! We got married at the yacht club.
Off to OB for 6 week check tomorrow. What exactly do they 'check' BTW?
-
PMSL @ Marigold... Can I introduce you as Marigold tomorrow Vivienne? Only 4 of the girls are coming, the rest are MIA. But Claire is actually one of the ladies who was in the 1-15th Octo Belly Buddy group... She ended up having Joshie via c/s in September. They are coming around 12.30-1ish... But you are more than welcome to pop around anytime that suits you. Really not sure what time it will finish up, so pick a time! I would pick you up, but I only have one bub seat attachment thingy... :(
Well Rochelle has been unsettled today.. I'm not sure whether it's because we have had a long day out or because my supply is shotty... I feel like I have no milk :( I'm seriously considering switching over to formula, It would be so much easier... But like Mo said, I would miss that closeness and I do love BF'ing. Back to the fenugreek and expressing for me I thinking!
Hope all are well! :)
-
I had one day of no expressing..and my milk is gone.....:(
So my EBM days are over before i seen my LC....down in the dumps here..my own stupid fault. Yet another failure by me. I seem to be full of them...great mum arent i...NOT
-
aw Kim dont beat yourself up! You are doing a great job! Are you sure your all dried up? Maybe speak to the LC and see what she says? You are a great mum!:hugs: We are always here to talk!
Trish hope your sisters sil had her baby too! how exciting! Hope you had a nice time visiting! What did they call her?
Ange you can come crash our party anytime! My checkup was just talking about contraception(just said were not dtd anytime soon;)) then she just checked sticthes and did an internal just to see if I was still in working order!
Catherine its a beuatiful thing when you feed them hey! Just keep persistant and maybe see your LC? Hope Rochelle settles for you tonigt!
Mo thats a pretty name, but I spose most people dont like their names!
Sorry if i missed anyone! hope your all well!x
Appointment went well today I am in working order, so i think DH is going to want to DTD soon:rolleyes:!
Anyway have to go and get some sleep cause were heading out to see some friends tomorrow and want to be fresh and alert ha as if thats going to happen!:p
-
Awww Kim are you sure your milk is gone? Maybe you don't have enough fluid.
I know when i didn't drink a lot of water my milk supply was horrible.
Your a great mum Kim don't ever doubt yourself, at least you tried to b/f.
Sometimes it just doesn't work out the way you want it to, i know i felt like a failure when i had to stop but you girls all made me feel much better about my choice.
(((hugs))).
Catherine maybe you could give Rochelle some top ups with formula when she is really unsettled, that way you can still b/f, but it gives you a little break if you need it :)
Ange at my appointment i had pap smear done (what fun) & he just made sure me & bubs was ok.
No birth control talk here, he's a do what you want kinda guy.
Hope your appointment goes well.
Bec i know there is at least 2 other Vic girls in here so maybe us Vic girl could have a meet-up one day as well :)
Just wanted to say i love everyone's baby pics very cute in deed :D
-
Catherine- When L is unsettled and has big feeding days, my boobs stay soft and never reach that hard phase, but they always bounce back to their usual fullness when she settles down with the feeding. When it has happened It made me think i was low on milk, but as she was still wetting 8+ nappies a day, i assume she was getting enough. Now i feel more relaxed about it, i trust my hooters to produce!
I dont feel like i am making sense tonight.... does that make sense to ya?
GLad app went well Amber. Good luck with DTD! :p
-
WOW - a chatty bunch today :)... now let me see if I can remember what I have read and what I wanted to respond to...
**stamps feet, throws arms around and cries hysterically** i wanna go to the piazza too - in a whinny voice!
Not sure who mentioned it, but we didn't have such a good sleeping night last night... the two nights before that were better!
ARG! can't think what else I wanted to say.
Off to get my hair cut shortly!! Amazing how exciting these little things can be, especially being able to go do something on your own - Kaylee staying home with daddy!
-
Kim! You and I need to perserve! In 6 months time we will be so proud if we are still BF!! Try Fenugreek, increase water intake, eat well and rest! I think that was probably my down fall today, I was out all day walking around etc. No rest = crap supply... for me anyway... and it probably is just me because I was warned that about this time women with implants usually find their supply drops.
I am going to try and perserve... Ange, Nah It's not just my boobs are all floppy. She is tugging at my nipples in frustration and screaming. I have been giving her 50-100mls of formula in the evening after I have offered her both breasts and she guzzles it. She doesn't have the bottle every night, just the days I have either done too much, haven't drunk enough water or haven't eaten well during the day.. or perhaps a combination. But i trust she is getting enough the rest of the time as she has put on 360grams since last Wednesday - but today is just blah!
Woot on DTD soon Amber!... Daniel would be too jealous if he only knew!
-
I second the Fenugreek, got some seed the other day - tastes like carp but did the trick.
Mo - I totally LOVE your name, it was on my shortlist but our surname starts with M and I promised I would not name our baby so it could have the nickname M&M LOL!
Must go, A recently spewed everywhere all on me carpet etc etc and I am now waiting for her to want to feed and E has also decided to wake up tonight crying sigh..............
Kim - would love to catch up if you have time, we are sort of on the way back from the Bay to the freeway.
Night all,
-
I so 2nd a VIC meetup!!!
Hmm maybe it was cos ive not been eating or drinking...and sleeping that milk has gone. I managed 10 ml in 20 mins...WOW......not good. Thanks girls for ur words....im struggling big time
Will try plan to see ya Leah..id love that :)
-
I knew getting to read Marie claire cover to cover this afternoon was going to mean tonight was going to be crap....
Hayley hasn't slept in the last 5 hours.... hoping she goes off soon then sleeps till late...the alternative isnt' a pleasing thought....
Kim - you are a fabulous woman and mum who has had a rough day or so by the sounds. I think you are a superwoman for having your two gorgeous little girls who are both happy and healthy. You've done your darndest to BF and if it isn't happening then don't beat yourself up. We're all here for you :hugs:
