Hi Mummas,
Glad to hear all bubbas seem to be doing well and what newborns are supposed to do LOL, keep us awake at night!
Amara has settled more at night and has given up the party scene thank goodness, she has been going 4 hours at night which is better.
She only lost 20 grams from her birthweight in her first week so it will be interesting to see how much she has gained when I go for her next weigh on the 30th. She is still a Booby Piglet.
Had my first outing out with 2 kids by myself today - to the park and all went fine. Amara slept and Eliza was being really silly at first but then she seemed to come good. As well as the new baby she was/is going through a challenging phase. Preschool tomorrow, so she will have some extra fun. Hopefully Friday we will visit my Mum, whom Eliza adores so the rest of the week should be nice.
Eliza & Amara's great grandfather visited last Friday, he is 90, he wouldn't hold Amara cos she said she is too small LOL!
She is asleep now so I might go and rest myself since hubby has taken Eliza to the library.
Oh and re: dummies
We too give one to Amara when she is unsettled but only at night. Eliza had one too but only for sleeps, never during awake time. It worked well for us and she gave it up last Christmas no worries at all. We told her Santa needed it for the baby elves. She has never asked for it again. And we also use Happy Baby, I was told to use them by my lactation consultant as they are the closest to boobies.
Sleepy dust to all the bubbas,
Hello Mummies and bubbies!
Firstly congrats to Catherine and Danny! Well done on a quick birth, cant wait to see some pics! Welcome Rochelle!:confetti:
Mo cant wait to see the pics of Maddi! Congrats on making her a star in the paper!
Ange I am sure you could put some sparkles on your potato sack to make it pretty!ha! I know what you mean about trying to hide the belly you were once so proud of! I dont think anyone even looks at me anymore there too busy with Myles, so i just let it all hang out!ha!
Nick I am so very sorry for your loss! She obviously wanted to meet your little man! 65yrs of marriage is wonderfull, i hope DH and I can do that!:hugs:
Ursula Arent those smiles just gorgeous when you know there not gas!haha! Thats great that Maddis feeds are getting shorter, maybe she will be a quick drinker long sleeper!
Leah great to hear that Amara is not being a party animal anymore! Isnt your Grandad cute not wanting to hold her cause she was too small! My great uncle was the same!
peta glad to see your still resting and Kaylee is doing well
Well it was a better night last night, cant say much about the afternoon though! He is still having his feral arvos! He slpet for 5 1/2 hrs last night which was wonderfull! Today is DH and mine 4yr wedding anniversary yay! But there will be no romanitc dinner or presents just time together with our little man! I think thats a good enough present!
A quick question about bubbas soft spot! Myles seems to sink in then out occasionally is this normal? It can become quite sunken but when he cries its normal! Its kinda freaking me out a little!:dunno:
Cuddles to mummies and bubbies!
Just a quick hello... yes I'm still resting, well trying to without going stir-mad!
Today is my first day home alone all day with Kaylee and no help... so far so good :)!
After the 8am feed I had hoped to go back to bed, after being up for a good part of the night with Kaylee = but she had different ideas, just didn't want to settle. So after a couple of top-ups I put her in the sling and she finally went to sleep - too scared to move her now. But have managed to get a few things done with her in the sling, including getting the kitchen cleaned up! Hopefully I will get a nap later, if she will let me... Otherwise, plan to spend most the day on the couch with her in front of the TV, can't do much else = must rest arg!
Amber - congrats on your 4-year anniversary! It's our 3-year anniversary on 21st Nov... As for Myles' spft spot, I would keep an eye on it - the midwife said if it sinks in it can be a sign of dehydration - is he getting enough liquid?? Otherwise, I have no idea!
Kaylee makes lots of noises in her sleep, does anyone else's baby??
Sometimes I find it hard to sleep at night when she is sleeping because of the noises - mum thinks she might be having bad dreams :(
Nic - hope everything is ok for you and you heal quickly! I have been told I will most likely have to have a c/s if I have another bubs = so think I would rather be booked in than go through what I did this time... but would be doing with a toddler = have told Steve he will need to take at least a month off next time! He isn't so sure he wants a next time atm, hasn't got over seeing me go through everything I did this time...
Anyways - must go rest.
Hugs and lots of love to all the mummies and gorgeous bubbies!
Hello ladies.
I am supposed to be in the November group, but due to pre-eclampsia, had to have bub earlier by 3 weeks.
Things are going well. BFing is pretty good except he gets the nipple in his mouth and doesn't know it is there so moves his head from side to side trying to find it! Once he is on he is fine and slurps like a trooper, but he gets so frustrated when he can't find it.
Other than that, agree with you on the blues side of things. On the one hand I am so happy he is here with us and we just love him so so much. On the other I am terrified of all the bad things in the world that could harm him. I know I will get over it but they say the first bub is the most overwhelming? It is nice to know others are in the same boat, makes me feel more normal.
We have had some outings, to the doctor to check on my blood pressure and to the shops. DH is so wonderful with him, I can't imagine doing it without him.
Well, I am glad to be a part of this group, hope to share more ideas from here on in.
:)
Hey dragonbub, i had PE too, but developed it at 39 weeks, your little man was a good size considering you had PE and he was 3 weeks early. The blues definately get better. i am feeling 100% on the last couple of weeks. How's your BP, mine's still a bit up and down but generally ok.
Happy anniversary Amber! re: myles soft spot, lu has too uch hair and i never notice it, maybe you notice myles's more b/c he is a cute little bald bub! If you are worried i would call health nurse just to put your mind at ease....
Peta- Lu is a regular snuffleuffagus in her sleep. Carries on like a pork chop, grunting groaning, whimpering, she makes more noise when she's asleep than when she's awake! Now back and rest young lady!
Leah- is Eliza just loving her little sis?
Nic- sorry to hear about your nan :hugs:
Mo- maddi is a star already! woot!
Ursula- thanks for the cyber drinks on facebook, i've been needing them!
Speaking of drinking i have been craving beer!
You'll all be pleased to know my placid bub had a feral afternoon yesterday, squarking every hour to be fed. She's back on track today though! :p
Lucky i have a lap top, what else would i do while feeding her about 8 hours of every day?!
Welcome Dragonbub, congrats on the safe arrival of your Bub
Forgot to add, i am very jelous your babies smile, mine is still a stone face, oh there is sometimes poo-face, and the squark face but no smiley face yet! Not even if there is wind! Darn it.....
happy annaversary amber!! hope you guys had a lovely day!
Hi dragonbub and congrats on your baby! whats his name? Hope your recovering well.
Peta- yep i hear you on the c/s when you already have a toddler! its very difficult with Nixon only 18months and not being able to lift him. i must admit i have already picked him up gently a few times, i didnt really have an option he woke and wanted to get out of bed today and DH had gone out and wasnt back yet. i think the 6 weeks is a bit of overkill but gotta keep reminding myself it hasnt even been 2 weeks yet!
My nan's funeral is tomorrow so MIL is coming to mind Nixon. we just think it would be beatter and easier on us if he didnt come, he is too young to know remember and understand and she offered so we accepted.
i havent found time for a nap today, when both the boys are down instead of resting i take the op to get things done. Nixon is running amok atm and just pulling out EVERYTHING... so been trying to re organise things that he cannot get too.
ah it used to be nice to have a change table with all the stuff u need in it creams powder etc, cannot have them there now Nix can reach everything and sick of chasing him for them!
Q: is anyone NOT using huggies those that are in sposies? Tyron seems to keep wetting through them, dunno if im not putting them on right (although i think i have enough nappy experience!) twice today he was weed through all up his back and it seems to have happened a number of times in the last few days...
hope everyone is well
nic - i'm using infant babylove on Eli atm and havent had any issues cept the occasional 3am nappy change thats not quite done tight enough/high enough.
Eli was out of huggies newborn in like a week - they looked uncomfy n small.
Weighed him yesterday - at exactly 3 weeks he was 5040g. Li'l porker!
anyways time for b-e-d!
I love Maddi's smile & she even screws her face up at you if you give her too many kisses lol.
Sarah that's a great weight gain for Eli.
Morning - I had sleep last night for 5 hours straight I feel like a new woman!!!!
Nic - can't help with nappy Q, we using Huggies newborn, but I remember it happening with James back then and I used snugglers and made sure his doodle always pointed down so he couldn't wee upwards. But I don't think snugglers are that good anymore.
Sarah - woot on the weight gain for Elijah....
Welcome Dragonbub - how's the BP going. I had PE with both pregnancies (both bubs early too), bubs is a good size and don't worry abt feeling blue it's all part of the baby deal...
Ange - no probs with the drinks. I might try sending food soon LOL!!! How's your BP - do you have any swelling left, spots in eyes or dizzyness??? I found by week 4 last time was when my body started to go back to normal and leave the high BP symptoms behind.....I'm sure Luella will giving you a beaming toothless grin real soon....
Peta - rest, rest, rest......thank god for the sling in helping our bubs settle.....Maddison spent the majority of Wed in her baby bjorn cos she just wouldn't sleep....How's Kaylee????
Amber - checked out Myles professional photos and all of them are gorgeous, I esp. love the one where Myles and Daddy are looking at each other....
Leah - Yay for Amara leaving the party night life behind, atleast for the next 18 years we hope....nice info abt the Happy Baby dummy as well didn't know that....actually had nurse say yesterday that those dummies are v. popular
Mo - Maddi in the papers already - congrats. Seems both our girls are claiming fame - while Maddison was in hospital they asked if they could bath her and take photos which are being used in their "How to bath a baby phamplet"
Hi to all other mummies!!!!!
Had my clinic nurse visit yesterday - Maddison has put on another 310g she now weighs 3460g and her head circ is 35.5cm. Had a good discussion abt her magic evening hours and poos - she is constipated (which i suspected) so am adding extra 10mls of boiled water to her milk to help soften them. Also discussed that she maybe suffering from silent reflux cos she gags and coughs alot when burping so raising her mattress by 45 degrees and keeping her upright for 15mins after feeds are our first tactic to use. Resolving the constipation is most important and might even help with the reflux. Nurse also suggested offering Maddison 10-30mls of cooled boiled water late at night to help with settling - tried it last night and she drank the water no probs and did the loudest burp ever afterwards and I think that's why she slept for such a long time.
Anyway seems I've written a novel with one hand......Hope we all have a good day with our new bubbies and toddlers or older children...
Hello Mummies and bubs! We finally made it here... woohoo to that I say Rochelle!
I haven't read through all the posts, just quickly skimmed because i'm a bit sleepy!
Nic, We DO use huggies nappies and has wet through a few of them, mainly because they don't cover her big butt - the lining that you can see in the back doesn't even come up to her bum crack! Lots of junk in that trunk ;)
Ursula, I know Ro is much younger than Maddi, but I have noticed too after her feeds she seems to be gagging and sucking it back down after i've put her down... I mentioned it to the middy today because I wondered if it was the starting of reflux, but she assured me not. Maybe it's different for us because Ro's tummy still has newborn marble size tummy?...
Just wanted to ask for those who are BF, Did the nips hurt at the beginning, are they still hurting or when did they get better? Everyone told me before birth that BF shouldn't hurt if you have the attachment correct. Every feed i asked a midwife to watch us attach etc. and they reckon we did it perfect even though it still hurt to some degree after that inital 30secs. My nipples hurt even to touch my shirt, they are a little blistered and if I don't put lansinoh on em, they go all hard an yuck! Did everyone experience this? It hurts, but i'm going to journey on because i love bf!
Ok - gonna go for a nap now... hope everyone is well and getting enough rest along with their delightful bubbas! :)
Welcome to the group Catherine, Love the pics of Rochelle very cute & i see she has some hair as well :)
My nipples were a little senstive at first but they are fine now, i really haven't had any trouble so i can't help sorry....
i was confused too Catherine- Everyone said it shouldn't hurt, but man, my nips were soooo sore and tender in the beggining, a layer of skin peeled off at one stage. Midwives checked my attachment every time and it was fine, (yep i buzzed every 3 hrs for 5 days! what a PITA i am!) so i think it just takes a while to wear em in.
I did get a crack from one feed with poor attachment, and that was a whole new pain. It is nearly healed, and doesn't hurt much anymore.
Ursula- Reflux AND Constipation, poor little maddi.
Amber- love the proffesional pics, very cool.
Nickers- hope the funeral went ok today
Sarah- 5040g....champion!
Hi,
Just a quickie!
Re: Breastfeeding. I found they hurt ALOT with Eliza and pretty much the same with Amara although it has settled faster. I use Lansinoh and when mine were grazed I used a shield for a few days AHHHH blissful no pain. Once they healed it has been fine.
With Eliza it was worse but I persisted and at about 5 weeks it all clicked and suddenly weas easy and pain free : ) so hang in there girls!
Hi Catherine- welcome to the baby buddies group! just checked out Rochelles pics they are great!
im wondering with the huggies nappies my SIL bought me some which are the ones i am using, they were not in the normal huggies pack or wrapping so wondering if maybe they are seconds??? cause it still continues to happen, anyway will be finished that pack in the next day or so and see if things change re the leaking.... Ursula i had kinda forgotten about making sure his doodle was down lol! but its always his back that gets wet??
My nans funeral was a very nice service. Tyron had a few mentions in speeches as he was the latest addition to the family and only met Nan once. My MIL minded Nixon for us which made things alot easier. as we were driving to the burial the storm hit and we ahd to wait in the car for a while. when it didnt ease up we got out anyway, then 2 min after it was over it stopped raining.... wonder if that was Nan's last say! afterall she ALWAYS had to have the last say!
Ursula- i hope the reflux doesnt get too bad, we went through it with Nix so hope Ty doesnt get it too. What did u use to prob the bed on a 45 degree angle? we were going to get some foam and cut to shape to put underneath.
Nic - ATM we are using a rolled up towel under the mattress but it isn't working very well. Was actually just checking out Babies Galore for a foam wedge but nothing so was thinking about going to Clark Rubber and getting someting cut to size. What did you do for Nixon? This reflux is so new to me and since adding the extra water to her bottles even though her poos are softer, less dry, she seems to be loosing more of her bottle when she is lying down as if it isn't settling in her tummy. The nurse did suggest if it continued we might have to use anti-reflux formula like S26 AR. Wasn't the storm a doozy - perhaps it was your Nan's last hooray.....
