Babies born September 1st-15th 2008 #4

Hi ladies a quick one from me too! We have been so busy with the party and with my best friend losing her mother last week. The funeral was today and was so sad. On a better note Emily's birthday and dedication went well. I remembered why we never have parties tho cause I HATE them...well hosting them anyway. I was so anxious about it I didn't enjoy it much. Everyone said it was great tho. Em had a great time I didn't see much of her either! She was off with so many different ppl and her little walker. SHe is taking so many steps on her own I think crawling will be a thing of the past very soon.

Pam just wanted to say I'm glad things are going well with bubs. Stay in here we love you and hearing all your pg related news!!

And Lee let me know when you are back so I can send Remy's pressie don't want to send it til I know u'll be home to get it. I think u are due back around the 15th???

Oh so many birthday wishes, I hope I haven't missed anyone at all. Between here and FB I can't keep up LOL...

Not much happening here, some more teeth have popped up and I had a bit of a rough night last night so I suspect there will be a few more on the way.
Bella only started properly crawling the day after her birthday, and has now begun pulling herself up on the furniture. So, I think she will catch up to all these clever little babes that are already on the go.

Was hoping my father and step-mother might have been able to come down from Brisbane but no such luck. Oh well. I'm sure it will be special all the same.

Jen, I haven't forgotten you! I got in a birthday wish for Nathan earlier in the thread! Matthew's not walking yet and I'm not sorry about that either, as I'm having trouble keeping up with him crawling all over the place and getting into things! Still breastfeeding too and getting lots of wake ups for top ups during the night. Would love a good night's sleep!

Donna, hope Molly's immunisations go well tomorrow. Enjoyed looking at the Moo's birthday photos too. Looks like she had a lovely time!

Suzie, how many teeth does Arabella have now? Sounds like she's catching up very quickly!

Matthew seems to be biting a lot lately. It seems to be a bit of a game for him. He crawls up to me and bites me on a foot or leg and then giggles. He was also biting me on the shoulder and leaving teeth marks but that seems to have eased off a little. Sometimes I think he bites because he's tired or hungry but the rest of the time, I think it's for fun. The carer said he's also been biting her and suggested that it might be time for me to bite him back. I haven't! He's not doing it to hurt. Just not sure how to deal with it. I've tried the tactic of telling him no and that it hurts and moving him away from me. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Thanks Pam and Suzie. Our thread's gone a bit quiet. Must be all these birthdays! Tenille, Matthew really loves the puppy you sent. Thank you, my lovely baby buddies! I hope Ashlyn liked the pressie we sent.

We had a very quiet birthday at home although it started early, with Matthew on the go about 6ish :p I'd had about three-four hours of broken sleep, having stayed up late to bake the cake and wrap presents. Cake, pleasingly, turned out well but unfortunately Matthew didn't really sample much of it. He was far more interested in banging his spoon into the bowl and mashing his piece of cake, than actually tasting it. He's hardly eaten anything really over the weekend (except bf). Not sure if it's the heat or that he's been too excited. I've posted photos on FB. I had him measured for his 12-month stats on Friday afternoon and he's weighing in at 11.27kg (dressed weight), 78cm length and 48cm head circumference. Bucketnut. :lol: He'll be getting his immunisation needles during the school holidays as that's when the next immunisation day falls at the clinic.

Hope everyone's okay and doing well.

Kerry, I'm glad Matthew liked his puppy. I'm sure it will be a lot more fun for him when he's on the move. Ashlyn loved the microphone and she loves it when I put the sunny's on her. I don't think I'll have much trouble keeping them on her, lol.

Ashlyn's birthday didn't go so well. Spent in between hossy and Dr's surgery. Last week we thought she had croup, but she didn't get better after the steriod treatment. Ended up having chest x-rays because they thought she might have pnemonia(sp?). Turns out she had bronciolitis. Nothing we could give her so we have just had to wait it out. Some very sleepless nights around here. Hope to give her a small party on the weekend.

Happy Birthday's to all our special one year olds!!!! One is such a CUTE age, I love it!!

I'm back home!!! 2am and have woken STARVING from going to bed at 8. It'll take me a week to reset my clock. Had a great 6 weeks in France/Italy - but I definately would not recommend a long haul flight to anyone at my stage of preganancy - I'm shattered like I've never felt before. The support stockings and clexane injections worked really well though - felt like a junkie in airport loo's shooting up though lol. Anyway, can recover now!!

Remy turned one and that was lovely for all of us over there. Didn't get in as much shopping as I should have, due to heatwave/feeling tired etc, but didn't matter. Couldn't believe how gorgeous the bub/kids clothes were in France, and so cheap for good quality - stuffed as much as I could in the suitcase.

Had pretty crappy internet connections - so am a bit out of touch with everyone's news in here - can you update me as you pop in and let me know how you all are. More new pregnancies or babies!!!

Pam - had a quick read back and so glad your pregnancy is going well!

Ezymay - did Emily's pressie arrive? Hope she liked it!!

My growing bub has definately been thriving with 6 weeks away - all my worries about kicks were unfounded - he/she kicks me like crazy often now. Have an Ob appointment tomorrow, so can't wait to get another look at the little thing!!

Sorry have not done personals - but will - so much to do when you have been away, staring at a pile of mail a foot high!!

Hi girls. I keep coming in here to update but never seem to do it.
Moo girl had her 12 month check up last week and she weighs 9.9kg and is 76cm long. I think from memory she is in the 75 percentile for height but 50th for weight. She was meant to get her shots last week but was sick so we got them yesterday.
Moo still only has 2 teeth but her top teeth are threatening to come through. One day I could have sworn they were nearly through only for them to go back in again. Extremely frustrating for both of us. She has been having rough nights sleep so I am tired and grumpy :)

Off to have my 12 week scan tomorrow, I am so nervous, my MS is hardly around at all anymore..

Wednesday night I had the worst dreams and then lay awake for the rest of the night terrified of going to the scan and getting the awful news there is no HB.. it was so bad I went to the hospital as soon as I dropped DS off at kindy...when I got to maternity I felt a bit silly but I still asked the lovely midwife on duty if they could listen to my concerns, she was so nice to me that I started crying right there???? She got me an appointemnt an hour later at the clinic and in the meantime asked if I would like to try the doppler, would I ever!!!! Welll that turned into a nightmare instead of relieving my fears, we did'nt hear the HB, she told me not to worry that it is very early to hear by doppler and that they might organize a scan for me...I get to my appointment was whiskd in and out within 10 mins... she refused to feel my pelvis to see if it looked okay for dates, said that they had tried the doppler so no point in trying again????????? what the... you just never know my bladder was fuller and bubs might have been in a better position?? So I have walked away, completely decided that I will NOT give birth there, I completely know why I decided to not go with them again, for every caring midwife there are another 10 who seem really jaded and unhelpful??? So no choice but till wait until tomorrow, I just hope the news is good we are driving to Melb which is a 2 hour trip, it will be long one home if it is all bad news. Surely it can't be possible that I get the same sorry no heartbeat news at this scan as I have at 2 others..

Sorry girls, thanks for all you continued support...I just have to express, not that it's relaxed me in any way!!!! I have everything crossed I can come in tomorrow night and annouce good scan results. (fingers, toes, everyhting crossed)

Oh Pam! Big hugs! I know how anxious you must be feeling and how very hard it is to stay calm. I have everything crossed for you and your new bubba-growing - the odds are on your side, you know that. Hi girls, well bubs was kicking, squirming and in general doing all the right things, brain, stomach, hands, feet look normal heart rate 164BPM...neck measurement a bit high, so we are going to amnio, trying to stay positive.. I feel like things will be okay, it seems this bub is meant to be :pray: plus after having all the MCs I have I feel like my body won't hang onto a bub that is not viable, so we will see. OB, sonographer said that there will be a slightly higher chance of MC still, so its a wiating game...oh and he reckons another beautiful baby girl, which is what I thought..gut feeling tells me that is right, so we are thinking of names JIC things go wrong.. anyone got any suggestions, old fashioned names is our preference, but we are a bit stressed to think rationally at the moment.
Thanks for all your support we are going to need it over the next few weeks until amnio can be done and results come in..

Pam, I'm sooooo very glad that bubs was kicking and squirming for you today! Did you have bloods done as well? PM me with your address again (I've misplaced it!!) when you'd like me to send the doppler to you. It's one that shows the heart rate and is supposed to be sensitive enough for use from 10 weeks, although I waited until I was 14 weeks before trying. A little girl, the doctor thinks? How lovely!! I hope you are able to destress before the amnio - am sending you calming vibes and thinking of you. Names? I'd picked out Eleanor if I'd been having a girl and I also like Hannah and Grace.

Donna, is the Moo sleeping better yet? How did she go with the vaccinations?

Lee, how did your appointment with your ob go? I'm glad you're home safely! I found the flight to HK hard with Matthew at 5 months so I admire you for managing with a 1yo and being pregnant!!

Tenille, hope Ashlyn's party goes well this weekend! Poor little mite, must have been scary (for you both) to have the chest x-rays and to have been so sick. Has she fully recovered now? :hug:

Had a torrid day shopping in Griffith today with Matthew. He was overtired and wanted to be out of his stroller and crawling. He roared in Target until I took him out of the stroller and then was trying to lunge out of my arms so I had to strap him back into the stroller. What a struggle! Normally he sleeps most of the drive but today he fought sleep until the last ten minutes both there and back. In bed at 8pm with one wake up already. Hope we get a sleep in tomorrow!

Pam I'm glad bubs was moving lots for you. It sounds pretty good to me! Have you had an amnio before? I had one with Emily. It was a little scary but not as bad as I had thought. The risk factor is given as one in 200 but that's an average of all doctors who perfom the prodecure so your dotcors will probably be a lot better! The personal odds of the one that did mine was one in 700. I hope all goes well. I'm sure it will

We have been doing ok. Emily is walking heaps! But also falling a fair bit too...so many bumps on the head. I think she is getting some more teeth I hope they pop through soon. She loves playing the Ta game where we hand each other things over and over saying ta. Its very cute.
I love having my DH home with her. He is loving it too. I hate leaving them on the days I have to go to work tho. Work sucks!

Ez - Thanks. I didn't mean to upset anyone by writing that on FB just had to get it out :) Was having a bad day. Poor Emily and her head bumps but it must be exciting that she is walking more. Moo is just standing but drops down when you try and help her walk.

Well Molly is being a horror at the moment. It looks like 3 of her top teeth are coming through. The problem is that they come down then go back again. Molly wont let you give her any medicine so I have to make her scream to get painkillers into her. She is having a good day today even though she has a big goose egg on her head :) We put up her swing set yesterday (her b'day present from us and my parents) and after an initial scream she loves it.

Not much else to report here ATM. Trying to resist the urge to go buy Moo the same outfit that I bought Madeleine for her birthday.

Hi girls another post about me, sorry!!!!

I was very naughty today, I had a referral from the local hospital for an US scan handed out before I decided to go with the other hospital and DH said we might as well use it an more or less get a second opinon??? So I went for another scan today, guy was very through and got a much smaller neck meausrement, I then fessed up and told him about our other scan, he was a bit taken aback and said that he doubted they would take 2 results for the combined test,but he would still submit it, but most likely it would be the first that counted, but he could'nt get naywhere close to that previous measuremnt so he is submitting 1.8mm which will put me in a whole nother catergory and they also have someone (a superior check the measurements as well) so now I have to explain to my OB why I had another scan done:redface:that was'nt requested by him.... becuase I need him to know that there is another measurement... I think I will still get the amnio done JIC, but every other time I have just accepted the scan measurrements as right and now I am not sure that you can be so sure?????:doh: either way I feel more relaxed and feel like bubs will definately be alright.
Donna go buy the outfit...glad Molly loves he swing, Poppy has an outside one which she spends her life in laughing, especially when you have a brother and sister pulling faces and doing funny things...

ezymay no never had an amnio before, not so scared abut the procedure just the results, I forgot that you have one done with Em... why did you end up having it done? I love it when DH is around, so having your man at home must be really special, I can understand why you would hate going off to work.

Kerry thanks for the name suggestions, I like Hannah, will meantion it to DH.. I intially thought I might hold off on the doppler but after today, think why not.. it will give me peace of mind in between appointments and if naything happens I can always send it back???:pray: On Matthew testing his teeth out on you, I rckon just be firm with him look into his eyes and tell him NO, make sure you don't smile then put him down and move away from him, it might seem abit mean, but they learn really quickly, you could even tell him it HURTS MUMMY!!!

Hi everyone else, where do you all post now???

Just have to have a little celebration in here. Tonight is the first night Molly has gone to sleep in her cot (at night) for over a week. She has been screaming and going to sleep on my lap. Hopefully we have crossed that bridge and she will go back to normal sleeping. :cheer:
It also looks like Molly's teeth have finally broken through. She was sitting and playing today. While I was putting folded washing in the basket she started to cry. I didn't really see what happened but the next thing I knew a big blob of blood dropped out of her mouth. She wouldn't let me look but from what I could see (besides her new teeth) it looks like she put her bottom teeth up into her top lip. I think I started crying as much as her. How silly is that. I worked in child care for 5 years and just dealt with injuries like that but my own kid and I fall to pieces. I think I was more upset that I was sitting right across from her but didn't see what happened.
Miss Molly is growing so quickly. She is starting to grow out of herr size 0's but the size one's are too long. Its a little frustrating :)

Pam - I don't think that you are norty at all for getting the second scan done. I am sure all will be just fine. I hope that the amnio comes and goes quickly so that you can relax and enjoy the rest of the pg. LOL about DH going for his snip now, I think I may have convinced mine to go, will keep you posted, he is such a bloody sook I reckon he'll chicken out.

Kerry - Bella only has 5 teeth, she's gotten them a little out of sync though. 3 on the bottom and 2 on top. Sounds like you had a hectic day shopping, Bella used to love shopping now she just gets super annoyed and struggles in her pram. She's way too heavy to carry any more, my back is getting so sore from picking her up.

Donna - :redface::redface::redface:, Bella is wearing size 2's, she is a little on the chubby side.. A lady came up to me in the grocery store and told me that my DD is a fine specimen, WTF, felt like asking if she was calling my baby fat LOL..

Ez - oh how cute saying ta.. we have been teaching Bella to clap hands to the song ?f you're happy and you know it clap your hands ", she's almost got it down pat now. Oh why do they need to grow up.

Lee - Welcome home and happy birthday to Remy... Bet you found it hard to get the old body clock back in tune. Hope your pg is going well.

Molly finally got her top two teeth. They came through and she has gone back to sleeping well again. Yay. We are currently trying to drop her feed during the night but not having much luck :)

Sue - Nothing wrong with size 2. My friend's baby was born nearly 4 weeks after Molly and he is in size 2 as well.

Pam - great to know all is well - and don't feel strange or wrong about getting another opinion (and a better one!!) - doctors are human and I've known quite a few to make errors and be wrong. I feel sure your little girl (or maybe still boy???) is fine and strong - so glad you are not getting all the bleeding and worries of previous pregnancies.

Pam, I'd have done the same (in fact, I did do something very similar last year when I was having a bit of a panic and used a referral for an ultrasound that I'd been given by a different ob - the relief of seeing that everything was all right was so worth it!) and I hope you're able to relax a little more now. Erin, yes, we got the Sunday sleep in and it was very, very nice. Been getting some early starts this week though. Be all right if we were sleeping through the night but no sign of that! Feeding, feeding, feeding.

Sue, Matthew's not walking on his own yet either but he's loving walk/pushing his car and horse around. He's even mastered reversing with them! So cute! I need to get him some size 2 wondersuits as he's outgrown the 1 in those but he's still fitting Size 1 for shorts, trackydaks, singlets, etc. I have people commenting on his chubby good looks all the time too. :lol: The mother of the woman who minds him for me when I'm at work describes him as "puddingy" :p

Donna, Yay for Molly getting her tooth through. Poor little mite, it's so hard when you see them in pain. Ashlyn has the same problem with clothes, I have to roll up all her pants cause they are just too long. Can't wait til summer when I can pull out the shorts.
Erin, The Ta game sounds so cute. I can't believe they are starting to talk! Where has the time gone? Ashlyn points and says "there" when she wants something. No manners at all, lol.

Ashlyn is doing heaps better now. Is pretty much recovered, thank goodness. It's so good to have my happy little girl back. She is nearly walking, lets go and tries to move her feet but mostly ends up flat on her face. Had her weighed and she is now 10kg and 72cm. So she is only little, funny considering she was so big when she was born. We've had to give up the BF which was sad for me, but I really don't think Ashlyn noticed. She is so into food that she wasn't drinking very much and with me working my supply just disappeared. But I am happy we made it to a year.

Hi girls, oh poor Ashlyn, my DS had RSV ( a progressin from croup) and is very prone to cold flu type things and will be for life according to the pead.

Lee glad you trip went so well, hope your body adjusts soon.. I am having some very slight spotting still in this pregancy..

Sue Poppy has got 5 teeth as well, stillnot walking accept around the furntiure, ut she has to holding with too hands and if it feels dangerous she bellows like she has been hurt.:rolleyes:

Donna I have no doubt the teeth caused some of the sleeping problems, Poppy goes to sleep in her cot but wakes up at anytime from a couple of hours to the middle of the night then she wants to sleep on your arm, DH wants to buy a fake arm..his shoulder is giving him grief!!!! Glad she has slept through for you, hope it continues.

Poppy's 12 month check 75.5cm long 9.3kgs going into size 1 for length mainly, (yes there is a big jump in size frm 0 to 1.) People are always saying how big she is, she is deceptive and looks bigger than what she actually is????

Me: booke dfor amnio on the 13th October my odds have now gone out to 1:300 for downs and 1:4650 for the other Trisomys still high risk but great for my age...the medical professiion seem to be treating me like a miscarragie waiting to happen, i think mainly cause the spotting, so they counsell me on the other things that could be wrong with my baby?? ( I always meantion that I have bleeding in my pregnancies and this is lighter than the other ones, to no avail, maybe they have that obligation??) And they want ot tell me what will happen in a worst case senario eg: labouring verus MC options for hand and foot prints photos, I keep saying I will cross that hurdle if we get there!!!! But it awful because I am kind of in a holding pattern, they kind of say oh make an appointment when this /or that happens happens. I hate it, but I think we are going to prove them wrong.

Pam i'm glad things are sounding better at least the amnio will give you peace of mind. They recommend the test with a risk of 1:300 anyway. Our risk was 1:362 so close enough for us and given that I was younger we really needed to know. I was worried about the risk of m/c but like I said before the Dr performing the procedure had much better personal odds.

Well I am getting very clucky. I ahve so many ppl around me pg or with very young babies. Its not going to happen anytime soon my head says no but my heart says yes.

School holidays have arrived, yay! and I'm enjoying having fun with Matthew, who is wearing himself out at the moment, pushing his wagon, horse and walk&drive learning car around the dining room and up and down the hall. Just wish I had more space for him to go further. Or that we had a nice lawn and paving outside.

Off to Canberra on Tuesday to see Matthew's dad, who I'm hoping won't be too busy to spend some quality time with us. Looking forward to seeing Floriade too.

Any tips for taking wriggling one year olds on plane trips? When you're on your own? We're off to Melbourne for my brother's wedding in a couple of weeks and I'm dreading the two plane trips it's going to take us to get there!

Pam, glad the doppler's arrived safely and hope that you have no trouble with it. I'd sent it to my lovely BB friend Celsie for her pregnancy with Zahley and didn't think to check everything inside before sending it on to you. I trust Celsie though and know she would have left everything in better order than I sent it to her in! Good luck! :)

Its very quiet in here isn't it Kerry. We are still around. I've been feeling really off all week. i think its stress.

Emily is doing well. She walks so well she is a bit of a drama queen tho! When she falls on her butt oh man do you hear about it but when she actually hurts herslef she's over it quickly!

He's balancing without support for much longer now.

Kerry we haerd bubba the first time we used it, had to chase her around a bit, got a little bit then she moved, so hunted for about 5 minutes, very nice to hear her and HB is going at a good rate 143BPM similar to the US . School holidays have finished here, back to kindy today for DS. Have a great trip to see DP, hope he makes an effort!!! Have'nt traveeled with a baby on a before, but I reckon lots of food :pa drink for take off and landing to equalize his ears and just up and move around a bit when you are in the air... with luck he might sleep???:pray:

Erin a couple of years ago I had a bit of high school drama with a long time friend :redface: so awful and embrassing, but sometimes these things happen, we are friends now but I am a lot more wary of her and it will never be the same.

Yes, good idea. Last time we travelled, I had a friend with me so that made it a little easier. I will try lots of food, drink and book, plus toys. Just think I'm going to have my hands full!!

Erin, I just hate daylight saving. At least this time everyone's just started holidays here because it really messes with the kids at the start. I will miss my long mornings at home. I was telling DP that I think it's a capitalist ploy to keep workers at work longer during summer. :lol: Joking!

Off to take Matthew for a walk in his stroller with the aim of getting him to sleep, as he hasn't had a proper nap yet and I have lots of packing to do! :rolleyes:

Hi to everyone else!! Not a great deal to report from me - think I'm nesting, spring cleaning etc..... we are extending a bedroom to make way for the new bub, so have plenty to keep me busy. Am really feeling slow and large already, the more pregnancies the more pregnant you feel!!! This is definately my last one!!!

Kerry, I would take an activity bag, with a couple of new toys in it if possible. One thing that was really popular for mine was an old purse filled with card sized photos of different things. They love pulling it apart, looking at the pictures and searching for more. Hope you have a good trip

No daylight saving here so I don't have to worry about that. Great since Ashlyn is just moving to one sleep a day. That's a big enough change of routine for her atm.

Poor thing has got four molars coming through!! One is almost out and the other 3 are just big lumps. She has big gaps in her mouth because not all of the front teeth have come through. The best thing is she has finally started sleeping through at night!! It has taken a year but finally I am getting some sleep. I'm starting to feel normal again because everything was getting on top of me before. Hope it lasts.

Pam I was only thinking of you 15 weeks congrats and well done, delighted its all gone well so far :) I still have those dresses and I will send them over I'm terrible I have been so busy lately. I joined a group of mothers fighting' to protect children here in Ireland and it is a full time job, I have been on the TV in Ireland and England. but I'm so tired now decided to take it easy this week and take a break from the computer and the girls got worried.

ezymay I feel the same head is screaming no no no but my heart says yes lol DH is a huge no though.

Ashton is walking and talking and has began to 'run' which is so cute. He's a cheeky thing and will look at you with the cheekiest smile when he knows he's doing something naughty!! His new word this week was "cudooool" for cuddle hehe adorable.

Big news here, Jamie and I are expecting a baby!! I'm about 6 weeks today :) Very very excited and hoping for pink pink pink to even out the 5 boys between us :)
