Candy Jay: Good for you with the expressing. I know its hard, my sister expressed exclusively for about 8 months. I was and am very proud of her! Its an amazing thing you are doing for bubby! If you need help or encouragement get in contact with the ABA, i am sure you have already they might not be able to make it easier, but they are wonderful for encouragement also!
Kell, sorry to hear that you are having some issues with the sleeping, it gets really hard huh!
Sorry to all that i have missed, i am really exhausted at the moment. I am going to go and get my eyes tested, i dont know if they are shot or its from exhaustion, but everything is going fuzzy...
Nath is doing really really well, still feeding beautifully, and starting to settle into a sleep routine at night.. well not a routine, but a bit of regularity to it. He only woke once a couple of nights ago, but has slipped back into about 3 times for a feed, then he just drifts off to sleep with me in bed, i really like the co sleeping. I think it will be hard for me to stop, but i worry when he is more mobile.
I am not weighing him anymore, but am surprised that he is already in 00's. Is this normal for 6 weeks old? What size clothing are your babies in?
If anyone wants to see pics, i have uploaded a heap of them to :
DropShots.com
thats both the kids, there are some birth/newborn pics in there too. Ill delete this link after a few days in my post...
I have to have my 6 week check up next week and i am petrafied, i hate having the pap smears. How on earth am i meant to do that with a toddler chucking a tanty too? no one to look after him while i am "invaded". Any tips?
love to all, and hope you are all well.

Hi everyone,
I'm having a bit of a panic attack. Something has happened to my milk today! I have hardly got any when I've pumped. Usually I have heaps. I don't know what's different about today. I need 600mls to keep up wih Emily but have barely got 3/4 of that today when normally I get well over it. Its really worried me, which i guess makes it worse.
Sorry for lack of personals I'm stressing badly!
-
Eej, big hugs. Try not to panic. Have you been drinking the same amount of water as you normally do? Getting enough sleep? Do you drink Aktavite? There's a thread on improving milk supply and heaps were saying that Aktavite really helped them. Hope your next pump is back to normal.
I'm still having trouble settling Matthew. Will see if I can get some help tomorrow. I'm just so very tired. Feel shattered.
-
Oh Erin darlin please don't panic! Sometimes Mothers have bad expressing days as well as the good expressing days. Keep on keeping on and see what tomorrow brings! I would say try to rest, but with a newborn, thats impossible!
Kerry, I hear you on the sleep deprivation. I can only give cyber  and lots of sleepy vibes to young Master Matthew. Sleep for your Mummy precious one, please!
All I came in here to say is - Bonds Easysuits - Easy? Pigs Bum! I had to physically WRESTLE Seven into hers (bought one today to use as jim jams). I had to pull her legs RIGHT up to her bloody ears to get them into the feet - thank heavens babies are flexible! The poor thing is going to be either wearing this until she gets so big the seams pop, or I am going to cut her out of it! Ridiculous. Give me a wondersuit anyday.
Bonds will be hearing about this........*shakes fist in air*
-
Hi everyone, I did a huge long post yesterday but my computer went spako(my fault I let the batttery run down )and I lost the whole thing. Now I'm way far behind, so here goes....
Kell, I took a look at those suits and thought, no way they look to hard, especially for a clothy bum.
Kerry hope you get some sleep tonight and can get the help you need tomorrow.
Eej, don't panic hon. Kell is right, every day is different. Hopefully tomorrow you have a better day.
Mummatotwo, the photo's are gorgeous! 00 is a pretty good size. I think it depends on the brand of clothes too. Ashlyn is in 000 for most clothes, but for things like bonds wondersuits they're getting a bit tight and she'd be better in 00. I have no idea what she weighs, hopefully will be finding out tomorrow.
Sue, don't feel bad about using the meds and formula. You've got to do what's best for bubs. When Danielle was a bub I was paroniod about giving her to much panadol, but I think it was worse holding back and leaving her in pain. Poor thing, by the time she was 8 months she'd had more painkillers than I'd ever used!
Donna, Yay for making it to the 6 week mark. How did it go with the LC?
Hello to everyone I missed. Sorry sounds like Ashlyn is starting to stir (again!)
She's doing pretty well, but starting to have issues because I think I've been overusing the dummy. *slap over the wrist for me* We're of to the pead tomorrow for a checkup, but I really don't think we need to go.
Better run she's definately awake now.
-
Thanks girls, I did some pumping overnight which I hope will help. I did read about the activite so I'm off to get some today! I still have a script for motillium so i might fill that just in case.
Kell-I have been saying that for ages, I call them NOT easy suits. Alll my GFs agree. They say for older children they get easier but then they have easy access to stick their hands into their nappies! Which one of my GFs son does...yuck!
Sue- I hope Arabella is feeling better. Have you tried Fess for her nose?
Captain-our pead said he doesn't belive in babies should be in pain either, he told us to give Em Braures 3 times a day to relive the colicky times she has. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to give her something all the time, but am reassured by the Dr saying its ok.
Mummatotwo- the photo's are lovely! Emily is still in some 0000 but mostly 000. Not a fan of pap smears either but have to be done don't they.
Indie- I hope the LC helped.
kerry- I hope Mathew settles for you. I have found Pinky McKay's book- 100 ways to calm the crying- has some good tips in it. Baby Love- Robyn Barker is good too.
We went to the pead for our 6 week check on Wednesday and he is very happy with her growth which is following the curve but for her age she is just slightly below average. She weighs 4.4 kg clothed.
I have to say we have a pretty good baby. At night if she doesn't go straight to sleep when i put her down she will just coo and giggle to herself until she does go to sleep. She never cries at night, I think its cause when she starts stiring around feed time, I get to her before she starts crying. That's why I like having her in our room. She does get unsettled a fair bit in the evenings but we can calm her down.
I hope writing this does't jinx me!
Better go and get ready for the day- I need to get on to that activite!
-
Morning all,
Just quickly jumping on as I need some help, Madeleine has started to sleep well during the night only waking once but this means shes up all day long. What do you do with them all day? I can't seem to get anything done as she just cries when I put her down, I put her in her rocker & that lasts 5 minutes... I have her in her cot with the mobile going and some toys in there but she'll start any minute. Yesterday she didn't have a sleep until 5pm, I went for a long walk at 2pm as she wouldn't stop screaming.
I know she's 6 weeks & crying peaks, I just don't know how to keep her entertained & still be able to get some things done like a shower & cleaning?
Ohh on the easy suits... I have no idea why they thought to call them easy, we bought some stupid huh! and i've wrestled Madeleine in them after her bath at night, they look so cute but what a pain.
Sorry for the lack of personals but she's started again
-
Well, the "not-so-easy-suit" is off and its never going back on! Even trying to change her bum was hard!
Anyway, another late one for us last night - 1.15am and Daddy had to put her to sleep coz I wasn't cutting it. So, another slow moving day with nothing getting done. Shes currently feeding as we speak.
Eej - I hope today is a better day and the Aktavite does the trick.
Captain - Why do you think youve been using the dummy too much? What trouble is it causing for you hun? Seven is so anti-dummy its not funny. I keep it with me though, JIC, but I keep expecting to find a liitle picket sign saying "No More Dummies" - shes that against them!
On the upside, DF tried her on her first bottle last night with EBM - in preparation for our wedding ceremony in case she gets hungry during that. It took a bit of tongue gymnastics but she got it - then came straight to me for a top up once she was done - the porker!
If she keeps eating like this she wont fit into her Baptism gown that her Brother wore at almost 4 months!
Must go and try and get SOMETHING done around the house today.
Love & Hugs
-
Eej, that's so cute that she coo's and giggles to sleep. What a good bub!! I don't think you'll jinx yourself, some bubs are just like that. Ashlyn has good days and bad days, but nothing to bad.
CJ, sorry don't really have any idea what to do. Perhaps she's overstimulated and it's making it hard for her to nap during the day.
Kell, I was using the dummy to try to settle Ashlyn during the day so I could deal with Danielle. But already she's starting to expect it and cry if it falls out. It was making her naps really unsettled nd not good quality. So last night we ditched it and it was fantastic. It took a while to get her to sleep, but it was a much more solid sleep, IYKWIM. She woke up for a feed after 4hours, yipee, and then when she woke up a 4, it was just a nappy change and she settled again really easy and didn't really feed. See how tonight goes.
I went and bought some clothes yesterday. Feel good because I have some nice things that fit. Not so good that I've gone up 2 sizes. Oh well, it took 9 months to get here, I'll give myself 9 months to try and lose it. Danielle just told me I look beautiful, the little darling.
Well we're off to the pead now, can't wait to see how much she weighs
Hugs
-
Well, last night was much better with Matthew spending most of it in his bassinet. And he's sleeping now as I write. :) Happy about that. I took him to the early childhood centre this morning and he has put on 340g since Thursday last week. He now weighs 4.81kg undressed (10pd10oz), so I'm pleased about that too. However he has a rash on his face (hormone and heat rash, we think) and a touch of cradlecap on his eyebrows. Re: him being unsettled, I was told to make sure he doesn't just "snack" off me during the day but gets a really good tummy full. And a relaxation bath in the evenings. The nurse said I need to expect that he will be unsettled if we have the day out or people over. Sigh.
Candy Jay, do you have a sling or pouch to put her into during the day? I sympathise because I have had a couple of days like that with Matthew. And nights... It's so exhausting!
I bought one of those easy suits as well! And I also thought it was ridiculously difficult to get it on and off him on the one and only time I've used it.
Time to hang out some washing! Back later
-
Candy Jay, I was going to suggest a sling or a wrap too. I was lent a Hug-a-bub and i am using that when i need to get things done around the house. Because Nath is like your babe, must be in my arms or on my breast... will not sit independantly.. which is ok now that i have an alternative.
Kel, I bought nath a easy suit, only because it was on clearance at kmart. what a waste of 9.00!! its in the cupboard now, there poor little legs! i normally dont mind bonds clothes for kids, but thats jsut pathetic.
Eej, nope i dont think it will jinx you, babe obviously feels safe and secure with your presence! I never did any self settling techniques with Blake, and when he was ready, he went into his cot and put himself to sleep. Iam a firm beleiver that they do it in there own time and we have to comfort them through it ;) sounds like you are doing amazing well done!
Kerry, glad last night was a bit easier for you!
We are all good today, both the boys are in bed and i am just looking at how to increase my supply, i might try the activite milkshake.. Hubby loves activite so its readily availible in this house.
Nath has 00's in heaps of different brands, but in bonds is a 0. It sux, i bought so much 0000's expecting a tiny baby, but he is just stacking it on. He doesnt look HUGE, but chubbing out and oh so long! He can only wear the short sleeved rompers and pants over them, because his feet are too damn big for the rompers with feet in them! Blake has big feet too, but this is crazy.
Well all saints is about to start, and its the only show i watch in peace theses days, so raspberries to all, and hope you have a peaceful milk filled day!

hi girls. Araella is coughing her ring out today, poor little thing. She is so blocked up that the spew is running out of her nose. Have given her a couple of doses of panadol today and she has been sleeping heaps.
kerry - Arabella was snacking and it just seemed to make her grizzly and fussy, so I am trying to fobb her off for as long as I can. Bella had heaps of cradle cap on her brows so I got a washer with some baby wash this morning and gave it a good clean and it is almost all gone. pml, she looked like she was going to be a redhead with it.
captain - I have bought myself a couple of nice outfits too, I just cut the tag off so I dont keep seeing the size. I was getting sick of wearing my gym pants out.
kell - hmmm, I give the bonds suits the big thumbs down too. They look so cute though. Bella gets a bit frustrated with the bottle too. DF bought a diff brand of dummy for her and I cracked it, telling him that she was so used to the one type. His pov was that a dummy is a dummy, he ended up eating his words when she spat it back out.
gotta run, bell?'s coughing.. bbl to finish what I started...
-
Hi girls, man you all talk up a storm!!!!! I feel so guilty when I get on here with my lack of personals..... Oh well I'ii try today, big DD has taken poppy for a walk and my other 2 darlings are having a rest.
Nic, poor little Arabella, must be awful for her and you. All my babes have had reflux except Poppy so I know the feeling... Gabe always had wet clothes and that was wearing a bib?????
Mumma, hope you enjoyed your show, I love sitting down at night and chilling out over a few of my favs...Nath is growing in leaps and bounds, you are doing a great BF job:rolleyes: I am jealous...
Kerry, glad Mathew is doing better today:), motherhood the toughest job out and nothing can prepare you for what is about to happen????? You think you know what lack of sleep is until you have a baby. I have my days when I feel really overwhelmed and end up having a good cry usually around teatime when the household all goes a bit nutty and so much to do. poppy has a bit of a rash as well on her face, seems to be related to heat, hope it is'nt eczema, looks a bit like and the other kids all had it. i find people think it is there right to comment on things like that eg; ways to get rid of it, what it may be, how pretty she would be without it????????:o
Captain, I had a look at clothes, desperatly need them but need an elastic waist and finding it hard to get something nice that's not grannyish, if it fits in the waist it has a spot for an overhang in the regular size?????? Will struggle to lose weight because my tiredness is making me eat rubbish, cravings for sweeties.:shhh: Good luck with your weight loss, yes 9 months is definately a good goal, how these celebs do it who knows!!!!
Kell, great to hear you got a cute outfit for Seven, sounds like your BF is going great guns as well, she is going really well. Easy suits, very cute, not so easy and definately not a mans job!!!!! I think I found a good way to get them on that does'nt include feet up at babes ears, bend feet up to nappy change height pop them in then flick the elastic part up over nappy then feet in..... seems easier to me.
CandyJay, I am finding the same as you Poppy hates being put down for any length of time and that's with 2 little people to entertain her, so the pouch rules in our house she loves it, not so much my back and gets loads of sleep in it, they say sleep promotes sleep and it sems to be true in our case, the better she sleeps during the day reflects during the night.
eej you are doing such a great job with your pumping, glad the pumping overnight worked, good idea getting your script filled.
indie hope you had success today at the lactation consultants:pray:you are doing a good job and any amount of BF you get in is perfect, 2 months is a good goal and when you get there you might think another month would'nt hurt.
Iserve, we think Poppy is cute as well, you would be surprised at how many people make reference to therir grandfathers after they have asked her name. My dad is Pa so we never think of it in that way.
Poppy is in a size 000 for length, but finding they are wide in some brands eg:pumpkin patch 00 in Bonds wondersuits, she is doing well and weighs 4444 grams at last measure, has slept through for the first night 2 nights ago 10pm to 6am, last night from 10-4.30am so looking forward to it being a regular occurance, freaked a littl ebit and did the check to see if she was breathing thing and of course woke her up.
Well we went for our 6 week check up today, not much of a check, Poppy did'nt even get looked at (this was through the GP as my OB has gone to Melb now)aske dfor a pap smear but she was too busy and will wait till next time. Have a little health scare of my own at the moment found a lump the size of a 20 cent piece in my throat yesterday morning and after asking the doc today have been sent for bloods test for thyriod conditions, the worst thing is my aunty has just been diagonized with thryoid cancer advanced and has only a short time left.... so I am feeling quite anxious also my brother has had a neck cancer, I have everything crossed that it is just a swollen gland surely we could'nt be so unlucky??????? Doc seemed a bit concerned though....
Very glad to get that of my chest.
Anyway must go and wash bottles:o so not fuuuunnnnn...
-
donna - i had bad attachment for the first few weeks and my nipples were so sore, bruised and bleeding that i cried every feed so i understand what you're going through *hugs* hope it gets better for you!! I remember hating the lactation people because they'd tell me how I was doing it wrong and they'd somehow get her on properly but I could never do it myself. It made me feel like a bad mum. Liberty attaches better now so that it doesn't hurt anymore but its nowhere near the "right" way to do it, she's just made up her own way. :)
blackduckies - i find that all the sizes are all over the place too. And also that they're quite wide.
We just had a weight check today at the drs and she's now up to 4kg. So she gained 700g in two weeks thanks to demand feeding (the other scales mustn't have been right that she was weighed on last week). She hasn't grown in length (still 51cm since birth) and hubby said "well if she keeps on going at this rate, growing wider and not longer she's going to turn into a ball" haha. My 6 week postnatal check was also today and my "bits" are still sore at times (a pap smear at 3 weeks didn't help - stupid doctor thought it was my 6 week check then). Dr said it was normal and it could be sore for another couple of months?? Hope not!
g2g bub's hungry and cracking it.............
-
blackduckies, we are doing pretty well with BF, abotu time though. We had a rough trot with blake.
Donna, have you considered using nipple sheilds? That might help you out a bit?
-
Hi Ladies,
So, we had a VERY ordinary day with Seven yesterday. She was NOT herself at all. She was in arms except for 15 minutes when we were in the car, and thats it! I was so sore and tired at the end of the day.
At first I put it down to the heat causing her to act up, then I realised I was on a 'test' run without Zantac. Idiot Mummy! Never ever will I do that again, not until she is at least eating solids. Poor girl, I thought she was going to be up all night because she slept most of the day, when she wasn't crying, but we 'slinged' it for a bit and she fell asleep at midnight and then slept ok for the night.
I HAVE given Zantac this morning. *shakes head at self*
I hope you are all well.
Love & Hugs

ahhh, baby asleep and my tummy is full for a change. Had a great morning and then a shyte afternoon. I am begining to get so frustrated with df because he does jack all around the house and spends very litle time with Arabella. I'd give anything for him just to provide us with a homecooked meal for tea each night. I feel like my milk supply is dwindling, I'd say because I hardly eat a decent meal, I am run down from doing everything my bloody self.:wall: I have given Bella two bottles of formula today and I feel just crap about it. Ok, selfish whinge over.....
Pam - oooher mate, Ihope you get the all clear from your results. I''ll be thinking of you.
Kell - How amazing is it that such a small little person feels like a lead weight after a few hours.
iserveanawsoneGod - wowee, that is a healthy weight gain. I am sooo slack at getting bella weighed.
Aaaaahhhhh, nooooooo, baby stirring, please :pray:let me have just an hour to myself.....
-
Sue, hope you were able to get that our to yourself. I know how you're feeling. I spent most of the day with Matthew on the breast, as it was the only way he would settle. Luckily I'd managed to sneak an express in at lunchtime, so I was able to give him a bottle at dinner time. Still I ended up in tears. It's just so wearing. It was 9:15pm before he finally let go and went to sleep properly in his bassinet. I'm dreading the six week screaming if this is what he's like now!
Pam, hope you get the all clear. I'd be worried too with that family history so am saying a prayer for you and sending you good health vibes. Wow at Poppy sleeping through the night - sounds heavenly!!
Kell, how did the Zantac go? Is Seven back to her normal self? Sounds like you had a rough day.
After today's efforts, I'm starting to rethink my position on a dummy for Matthew. Is anyone else finding a dummy to be successful?
He stirs. Must go!
