Hope you dont mind me coming into this thread. Xavier was born 28th Sept but no one seems to post in my thread and I do read and keep up with you all in this thread.

A little history I moved to Brisbane from the UK at 32 wks pregnant and had Xavier on due date. He is my second child I have a daughter Erykah who is 3 1/2 born in Melbourne. We lived there for 3 yrs before moving back to the UK and now we are settling into life in Brisbane.

Well I can sympathise with Captain on the sleep front I feel like Xavier feeds more at night than during the day. From about 7pm he cluster feeds I got him down last night by 8.30 and he woke again at 9.30 for a feed. Got him back to sleep and then he woke at 1, 4 and then up at 6.30 that was a good night. I am thankful that he goes straight back to sleep after feeding as my daughter had me up most of the night. He has reflux and is on Zantac which I tried to take him off over new year but he was very distressed and unsettled so I put him back on to it. He has 2mls a day so I have reduced it by a ml to the doseage the dr said.

I dont co sleep but he sleeps in a cot in our room for the moment I am moving him into his room when our visitor leaves at the end of Jan.

I have taken Xavier for his first swim lesson this morning. He was due a sleep typical and so was a little tetchy. I was not entirely happy with some of the things they were expecting him to do and he was crying. I felt all clumsy with the holds they wanted us to do and he was wriggling and I felt like he could slip out of my hands at any moment.

I wonder if there is something wrong with me as I love water really love swimming but I am very nervous with my kids around water. I just cant relax and to see Xavier with his face going into the water had me all panicked

Oh got to dash as Xavier waking up so best feed him

    Will be around again soon

welcome jo! i feel the same with Liberty in the bath so dh baths her. i've been practicing in the wading pool as there's more space and i don't have to worry about bumping her head on the tap. she goes to swimming next week and although i'm a bit nervous, at least there's an instructor to help if she does slip through my hands and swallows too much water. the little wiggle worm has slipped through before so she'll probably do it again. her latest trick is sucking our arms and legs when we're in the wading pool or bath to suck up the water.

i loved reading about baby-led solids so thanks ladies for telling me about it, i'll have to show brett.

breastfeeding is going to crapola as she's been doing lots of breast refusal and will only breastfeed if in a deep sleep ? I put a message on ur face book thank u so much jen for telling me about the forums on the aba website. i am a subscriber but haven't really been on their website much. thankfully it seems like loads of people go through the same thing when their baby is 4 months old so its not just me. i've been trying lots of different tricks. i think its because she has been on alternate feeds and bottle is easier than breastfeeding? i'm trying to hand-express to get a let down before i put her on too. i'm also trying to return to full time breastfeeding as she seems to be better now too.
captain - liberty wakes up heaps in the night too. my "good" night last night was only getting woken up 4 times. thankfully i don't have another little one to run around after in the morning *bigs hugs to you*
speaking of poo-splosions. yesterday she hadn't pooed in a few days and when I put her in her swimmers she did a small poo in them so I went to change her and from the changetable she pooed all on the wall, the cd player, the cds (beause of course I don?t put them away properly) ? whoops!!
Well my ?10 minutes? (don?t get me started on this) is up and hubby?s over watching her (he?s already asked me 3 times when I?m coming back?)

    Hi Ladies,

Welcome jo. We are a pretty good posting bunch here. We have our quiet times but are posting up a storm at the moment.

Lauren :-( that bf is "crapola" I hope Liberty gets the hang of it again. Your FB says you have to move, how come? Where do you live now?
That sounds like a nasty poo!

Captain- i hope you get some help with your sleep. I'm starting to get anxious emily's good sleeping will change soon becuase she is just about too big for the bassinet and we need to move her to her cot in her own room. No cc for us either. Pinky McKay is coming to sydney and doing a sleep seminar so I'm going to that on the 17th Jan. I'm hoping she has some good tips. I like her books.

mto2- i have never heard of amber beads? Your fb said nath was feeding for 3 hours ...how are your boobs after that!?

Sue- I think amounts on the cans are a ploy to make u use more formula!

Emily is having her needles tomorrow, it doesn't sit totally right with me either but I will still do it. I've heard Some daycare places in our area won't take kids without them.

I'm not looking forward to DH going back to work on Monday. It has been nice having him around, he's been getting up to Em every second day sometimes every day, while he's been on hols. It will be good to get back into our routine tho.

ok bub's in bed now, finally!! we live on the coast of northern nsw, near tweed. we got a letter from the real estate because the owner wants to move back in. they gave us until march 13. thing is hubby's work is still tentative and we're not sure how much longer it will continue and he's been applying for other jobs but hasn't gotten anything yet. so we don't want to sign another lease until we know what's happening with his work. hopefully a place will come up for rent that's for sale at the same time so we can do a monthly lease again. but the reason why we don't know where we want to move is because we'd like to live a little further south near our friends in the mullum/byron area or near brett's sister down ballina way but then the jobs are up near my family in brisbane (but we're not keen on living in the city again). so fingers crossed either we are able to get a monthly lease somewhere or he gets another job between now and march!!

sorry about my little poopy before, just getting frustrated that as soon as she cries dh hands her back to me and that he feels like he doesn't know what he's doing so he would prefer to be playing army computer games than to give me a break...*sigh* men!! and he's all stressed because of his job, not knowing where we're going to live, etc and b/c of new years with my MIL (which is another whole big drama, long story short she was really drunk and wanted to hold liberty and hubby said no and we were out for dinner and let's just say she wasn't quiet about being upset she wasn't able to hold bubby) she's now threatening to run away... i seriously need a reality tv show of my life!! anyway she's been on the phone heaps to hubby doing the whole "no one loves me" bla bla so he's busy with her... hmmmm wondering if my AF is coming soon the way i'm grumping haha...

Hi Al hope you all doing great

Jo, welcome I see your the same age as me I moved over here when I was 29 weeks pregnant from Ireland I had joined the forum well before that and came through with all these wonderful ladies in our due date thread, they are a great bunch so stick with us.

Mummatotwo! crawling that early lol I would be so proud but so upset at the same time, you want them to say little for as long as you can dont you, well done on donating your breastmilk to another baby thats brilliant. I think as well when we express they say that baby will get more cant remember how much they say extra they get, im sure you know that all ready though.

eej Eireann has to have her tomorrow as well, I hope she is ok.good luck with Emily, I fed Eireann the last time, its meant to help with the pain.

Lauren sounds like things are not great for you, its awful living in limbo land and wondering what to do isnt it. My Dh is a welder and his company shut down and let every one go just before christmas, now he cant get work at all here in Brisbane or sunshine coast. he got a job working on a racetrack cutting grass and that . at least its something.

well today has been a nightmare, My 2 year old fell and banged his head off the tiles, I knew when i heard the bang it was bad, I ran over picked him up, he was doing the slient scream were they hold their breath. but I sat down with him and he got sick every were. which scared the life out of me. to make matters wore I had no credit and my phone was dead. I was chatting on gmail chat to a good friend in Brisbane so she rang DH to tell him to come home. thank god for the internet I say. he is ok now they kept him in a while and sent us home. He is fast asleep so ill have to check on him in a while to make sure he is ok.
but they weighed him and I was able to weigh Eireann she is 6.16kgs does that sound about right for her age. Shane was 12.6 kgs he is 3 in April Im wondering if he is on the small side .

oh to top that off we were buying a van off ex friends, giving them money each week and we have just paid the rego and had to pay a fortune on getting it fixed it was always breaking down, but we were happy with it. well we got a phone call and they want to have it back, they want money upfront or give it back so they know with it just been christmas and DH not having a job for nearly a month we havent got the cash. so we have to give it back. they wont even give us back the rego we paid. we thought something was up when they wouldnt give us the rego sticker.

any way that my lot for today. take care xx

Oh hun that is so rude!! I would be refusing to return it until they give you the $ you have spent or take them to small claims. You would win if the agreement was installments.
Lauren it makes a huge difference! I am not doing anything this year for Jaidans bday, he isn't in school or anything atm so doesn't have many little friends to invite. I think i'll leave birthdays until he starts school next year

Ashtons whinging is driving me CRAZY! I hope these teeth come through soon

OMG, I'm starting to realize how much of a little chubby Ashlyn is. I just had her weighed and she was 7.7kg and is only 63cm long. CHN didn't have any more ideas on the sleep issues. She said I'm doing everything right, it's just a matter of time before she should start sleeping a bit longer.

Niamh, I'd be fighting the ex friend, especially after all the money you've put into the car. Hope this is the last tie you have to them and you want have to deal with them again. Hope your little one is feeling better. His weight sounds fine for a 2yo.

Mel, poor Ashton, hope the teeth come quickly. That's great that your partner is such a big help.

Lauren, Dh is the same with handing Ashlyn back as soon as she cries. He just doesn't knwo what to do with her. Sounds like you are both under a bit of stress though. Hope you find something soon.

Eej, that would be great to go to see Pinky Mackay, wonder if she ever comes to Perth? How did Emily go with her needles?

Jo, Hi. Hope you start getting a bit more sleep to. It can be so hard some days.

Pam, how's the challenge going for you? Has your milk supply settled? I've been using my milk as a gauge to see how much I should eat, so if it drops I just eat/drink a bit more. Seems to be working.

I have to say, I love my Hug-a-bub! We went to AQWA (aquarium of WA) and it was really crowded. But with the sling I didn't have to worry about trying to push through crowds with a pram. Had a good day.

Matthew had his needles this morning and so far, touch wood, is all right. No high temperatures like last time. Thank goodness! A very quick weigh in (proper check will be done next Friday) and Matthew was 7.85kg dressed in singlet, nappy and cotton shorts. I guess that's good.

Picked up car from Wagga yesterday okay - disturbingly, the on board computer kept flashing up: check coolant level, for the last part of the journey. Put a cup of water in this morning as it was a bit low and all fine now. I'll book it in for a service next week and have the radiator checked. I'm surprised as it's basically a new car and shouldn't be having those sorts of problems with only 6500km on the clock, even if it's a 2006 model. Sigh. It still looks pretty, but, and I like looking at it, all clean and white, in the driveway.

Welcome Jo! Swimming lessons sounds like a great idea but I'd be a bit panicked too and I would hate it if Matthew cried. I almost start crying myself when he's really upset!

Captain, those slings are great. I lashed out yesterday morning and bought a carry frame to wear Matthew on my back for when he gets a little heavier. I figure it will be handy when I'm in Hong Kong with him. I must start looking at air tickets!

Pam, glad all is okay. I've been calling Matthew a pudding too.

Mel, hope Ashton's teeth are through soon. I keep thinking Matthew will be getting teeth soon the way he's gumming everything.

Niamh, how terrible about the fall! I hope he's okay now. Poor little man. How did Eireann go with her needles? What a pain your ex-friends have been! I hope it all comes back to bite them one day.

Lauren, hope everything gets sorted out with finding a place and your DH's job. Everything happens at once, doesn't it. Murphy's law.

Eej, shame they can't be on holidays (paid, of course) all the time! We'll just have to win the Lotto.

Sue, it's lovely co-sleeping - except when they turn into wriggle worms! I'm sure Matthew chases me from one side of the bed to the other some nights. No way he would accept being wrapped now, he doesn't like anything over him. Little monkey.

Mummatotwo, sounds like tooth city at your place. How did Nath's needle day go? On the poo front, Matthew sometimes is filling his pants two to three times a day. We go through so many nappies, I should have shares in Huggies.

Have to go - washing to hang out and a dog to feed. And time to check on Matthew.

    Happy New Year All

    Howdy gorgeous chicks,

I Hope everyone is well and had a fantastic NY.

Wanna hear something funny - not ha ha funny but weird funny?

So last night I had this weird dream, I cannot remember much about other than I was handed this baby girl and was told she was mine and her name was "Ebony Rose" eeeerrrr yeah not keen on the name so much but I wake up in a coughing fit and need to go out to the couch so I don't bother DH with my coughing. Yep you guessed it still sick.

Can you believe 18 days and counting.

Anyhoo you may or may not have read that my period has been delayed due to my illness I think I am around 18-20 dpo. I have done 2 HPT both with a result.
DH has been walking around going "I am such a stud your UTD" and I am like "NO way man the HPT don't lie I am NOT pregnant, my nipples aren't darker, I don't even feel pregnant, I am just late because I have been so sick and all the meds I have been on have affected everything"

DH doesn't believe me so to prove he is NOT such a stud I buy another HPK get home from work and go and do it.

I don't cheat, so I just left it to cook and 3 min later we both went and checked the test and I'll be damned I got a

Now I am still a little skeptical, about the result given that I had 2 negative results and I won't get toooooo excited about it until I get a little u/s and see that hb but

    OH MY GOD

PLease PLease do not post anything on my FB page as if this pregnancy sticks we will not be sharing anything until we get the 13 week mark.

I promised you will all be the first to know so I will leave it a few days before I post in the PA section just so you all get a chance to catch up

I am so ready to be a mummy, I will have to go and work out the DD chinese chart says girl and it was right with Niki, maybe she will have a little blister

    Hi all

Thanks for such a warm welcome.

Niamh - I think you post on British expats your ex friends need someone to treat them the way they have treated you. If i was you I wouldnt hand the car back until they pay the Rego. Do you have a receipt for payment??? Cheeky buggers you dont need enemies with friends like them do you??

Well I am not sure what is going on with my little man he is so unsettled all of a sudden in the evenings yeah I know its normal but to get to 13wks and then start. He had bad reflux at 4wks and this is well under control but suddenly he wont settle if laying flat again even though he has been able to for the last 7 or 8 wks. I dont get it. I have looked at the gums and no sign of any teeth even though he chews his hands and dribbles a lot recently. His bum is a little red and he has gone from poos every 10 days to every other day.

I am tired from spending all evening getting him settled to then go to bed at 10pm and get woken every 2 hrs with him wide awake. At 5am he is screaming in his sleep and wakes himself up.

I had him self settling but that is now back out the window.

Oh well wont be stressing too much his routine will change all over again soon (I hope)

I got an appointment with the physio for my pelvic floor as I have leakage since having my first child not much but enough to bother me.

I have not gone with the swimming lessons having spoken to friends they all thought what they expected me to do with a 3 mth old as not on. One friend said that the baby should always have bodily contact with the mother to feel reassured. He was happy when close to me but when I had to push him towards the side while grasping his thighs and his head going into the water due to been too tired to hold his head up and screaming I said enough is enough and got out the pool. I am going to take him to the heated pool when not warm enough outside and if its warm enough take him into our pool.

Anyway I am heading to bed as shattered and both my kids are now tucked up in bed. Question is for how long !!!!!!! DH is fast asleep shattered from getting up with DD at 6am every morning

Have a great weekend if I dont get on again till next week

    Jo

PS Nae that is great news fingers crossed for you
