Question time.. how soon after starting your bubs on rice cereal did you introduce another food? The Heinz For Baby website says a week, which ive been going off, and my mums being a nag and says "Jody (my sister) waited a month before she gave anything else" blah blah.. but that was with my nephew who was 4 months at the time, Jess is a month older than that. Like Jess just scoffs down his rice cereal and loves it so was thinking of giving him a little veges this weekend.. just curious what you guys did.

Grr,millana jumping around like shew wasnt sick or anything.She had me up literally all night except from 2am to 4am i got a sleep.I gave her some painstop as she has a cold but now wants to go outside and paint at 730am.No way.Ruby had me up from 4am to 530am and then i went back to bed for1/2hr and i then got up as my useless husband couldnt keep her quiet for 1/2hr whilst i had a kip. I told him he can drive to our friends house 2hrs away as i dont want to fall asleep at the wheel. I hope she doesnt play up at my friends house.

kel - I wait a couple of days before trying new foods. But like Maz said, whenever you're comfortable. Nina had custard for the first time at daycare yesterday and I'm not really comfortable giving her custard yet (the whole sweet tooth thingy) so I've asked them not to give it to her anymore. ATM I'm just sticking with meat, vegies, rice cereal & fruit.
Had a good night here, I tried a new thing when she woke up, gave her some water while she was still in bed, instead of feeding her, AND IT WORKED!!!! She drunk it then went back to sleep. She woke at 4 as well, cause she was sweating, I had turned the a/c off, but it was too hot for her.
Heath reckons she still needs booby during the night, but I reckon it's ok to give water as it's mainly a comfort thing ... what do you girls reckon??
Sharleen.. you are a great mother mate.. my MIL makes me feel the same way. But its true, theyre your children and you can raise them whichever way you like.
Thanks guys re the solids info.. am gonna do what we feel happy with and give him some veges today or tomorrow. He seems really bad on the teething and clingy side today.. is asleep now but will see how he goes.

we've been waiting two days between introducing new foods, but certainly did not wait a month. i think do what you feel is best... ainsleigh has had carrots, avocado, pumpkin, watermelon and pears so far. i waited two weeks before i introduced the sweet food (fruits) as i did not want her developing a sweet tooth. i still give her rice cereal in the morning, but now mixed with pear and then vege in the late afternoon. i cook all my own food up (just microwave it) and all is going well. good luck for all the girls starting solids... be prepared for a big mess :D
as for MIL's... thank goodness mine lives on the other side of the country as i think i would get the same sort of thing... although she only has sons so can't compare me to her daughter (which i think is worse IYKWIM)

Sharleen- my MIL is abit the same age, she raised her kids nearly 40 years ago and forgets things have changed and that poeple do different things. i know she means well its just the way she says things sometimes.
Kell- We still haven't dtd, we attempted that once but was too painful I bought some lubricant but I'm still to scared! I know when we do try again I'm just gonna tense up.
Hope jesse settles for you. Ash has been a bit whingy also and really biting on her hand so I'm wondering if its teeth too.

Ash slept from 10:30-3:30 again last night! Yay! Then til 7 then didn't want to get up til 9! So introducing that dreamfeed has worked well. Hopefully bit by bit we can try stretch out time between wakings.
All this solids talk is getting me excited, we're going to start Ash next weekend, going to MCHN wed to chat about it cause I'm still slightly confused bout it all and knowing how much to give and when to increase intake and when to up it to 2 meals a day etc. I think she is ready, she's just so interested in food and will take EBM off a spoon so can't wait.

Though I'm in a mood at him today anyway, so I don't care today :p
Ended up giving Riv a bit of Heinz baby juice, to get him to think the sippy cup was a good idea. So he drank from that, so I might try water in it today and see if we get bonjela face again. Apparently I didn't like plain water as a kid, so I hope Riv's not like that.
Yay that Nina took the water and went back to sleep Jodi! Might be a comfort thing, or could just be she was thirsty cos of the weather?

HI girls, whooohooo Eithan is 6mths old, thanks for all of your well wishes.
PMSL Nelle- Eithan gives me that face with water too, then he looks at me with big eyes as if too say where's the milk. I am thinking of putting in a few mls of juice. and then wean him back to plain water. That's what I did with Bella, and these days plain water is her main choice for a drink.
About solids, I just tried Eithan on pretty much anything. The same one for a few days, we went haywire as I didnt want to, but DH couldnt see why if he didnt have a reaction with pear, he should be right with most things. However the apricot and peach ones is a no go, he seems to get tummy pain with that one. I am feeding vegies aswell but am putting off the meat ones until 7-8mths old.
OMG Eithan slept for 1hr this morning and is now doing it again this afternoon. I am so lost and guess what the house is reasonably tidy. DH wont know what hit him when he comes home tonight.

Shellbell/Nelle.. im always scared too.. last night Gray asked if we could DTD and i was like hmmm yeh ok.. he said we can just try when youre not so worried, i said im gonna be worried any time anyways.. and i think that made the pain worse. Even with lube. He said we can stop, i dont wanna hurt you.. i said well if thats the case we'll never be having sex again! so without getting too graphical, until he was pretty much in it hurt.. if he just well, dabbed in and out it hurt.. so once he slowly was all the way in, moving around was alot better then. Ehh why do we have to go through this!!!???

Re water.. Ive been giving Jess water with a few drops of apple juice in it and he'd been taking some sips.. then today i thought id try him on just plain water and he took longer sips.. seems to like the plain stuff more. How much water does your lil mulligrubs drink a day?

it is so hot here that i feel sick from the heat. yuck.
well went and saw sil baby last night she is so little that her head was only 29cm and her body 48cm she looks like a premmy baby. my sil said she wanted a fatty baby like my two lol. but i said she looks cute and maybe she will take after her dad being short lol.
kell- riley can drink up to 500ml of water a day it depends if it is hot.
well im off here for a while it is too hot sitting near the computer

Well had a good day with Jess and his sleeping/feeding patterns. Decided to try the 2 naps thing.. so he woke at 7am, went down for an hour and a bit at 10.30am then went down for another hour and a half at 2pm and then went to bed EASILY at 8pm! Gave him some veges this evening.. he screwed his face up at them at first and spat some out but in the end started to get there. Think its just the different taste... hes so use to the boring milk.. so will give it another go tomorrow. But yeh, we had a great day.

Been out to IL's all arvo so of course Ashleigh would not have a sleep so trying to settle her for bed was a nightmare cause she is just so overtired! Took well over an hour to get her to fall asleep, she is now in there grizzling, (she's only been asleep 20mins!) I'm hoping I won't have to go back in and resettle. Its just wasy to hot to deal with anything tonight! I can't even eat dinner cause the heat has just made me feel so yuck. Df is out so have to deal on my own.
Where is the cool change? And next week looks like its gonna warm up again!
Kell- I wish I could have some sort of routine, Ash sleeps whenever I'm lucky to get her down, everyday is different and feeds are all over the place too.

Gave Julia some cereal tonight and she loved it! woofed it down! YAY!! shes so funny shes been watching me eat and drink water and beer for the past two weeks so DH and I decided to try her on rice cereal tonight!...shall be giving it to her from now on for sure, got some yummy apple and pear to try too for her...

Kellxx - I find the same thing when DTD at the moment... which makes it kind hard to TTC! :lol: I have been assured by my Dr that it will get better 'the more you do it'. As to intoducing solids ... I did many by themselves for about 2 days each, but now I just buy jar food (so much for my great intentions of homemaking everything) which is mixed stuff, but if he had a reaction, I would have a fair idea of what caused it as there are generally only one or two new foods in them.
Sh*t, gotta fly again... Xander is being his usual self and screaming.

hey girls, Nina has a cold and was extremely cranky before. She threw up big time, twice before. We've managed to get some Panadol and Demzin into her. She's asleep now, hopefully tonight won't be too bad.

Another question for you lovely ladies..
Do you use a pram or a stroller?
We have a pram for Jesse but stupid me didnt realise it only had 2 different positions, upright and down flat.. which makes it hard if i need to feed him out as sitting upright is too upright yet and down flat isnt good for eating. So now im thinking of maybe getting a stroller. Is there a certain age they have to be to use a stroller? Im so attached to the pram and love it but this i think i need something with that mid recline.
Kellxx - I know it'd be a bit of a pain, but couldn't you just take him out of the stroller and put him on your lap to feed him? It's only going to be another month or so before the upright is suitable for him - and would save you a bit of cash. Have you tried sitting him upright just for the feeds? He might be ok if it's only for a short time. Xander is now sitting upright in his pram - and loves it (he can see so much more of the world).
Jodi - Poor little Nina. Hope she gets better fast.

Kellxx - DTD does get better, I think it is one of those things that get easier the more times you do it.
Shellbell - I am with you, Rylee doesn't have a routine, if I can get her to sleep during the day it is a major celebration, she doesn't have any set times for naps etc, I just go with how she seems to be on the day.
Anyway, it is Sat night, DH is out and I have finally got Rylee to bed so I am having a large cup of milo - sitting here on the puter and then will have an early night...

Morning ladies.
Yesterday was AWFUL. Long story short, Dh friends were &#*%$ at the party and the birthday boy put the music up soooo loud (with a mates nightclub worthy speaker system) and Jett got so upset I asked him to turn it down twice but he just smirked at me and turned it up more so then I skitzed it and screamed at them all about being irresponsible. Birthday boy apologised (and he should know better his son was sleeping in the house) but I ended up leaving and get this..................Ry came with me :o So now the **** has really hit the fan and Im sure they *****ed about me all night afterwards. I refuse to feel bad about the whole situation, none of it is my fault Im sick of being disrespected and made fun of.
Good thing my sister is here with her boyfriend. Considering we never got along til I was pregnant, they stayed for about 10min after we left the party gathering up our stuff to bring home. The stupid friend from the tubing incident started on about how I was a drama queen and should just grow up and get over it blah blah well my sister went nuts and told him (and the rest) what for about being disrespectful to me for no reason and in turn being disrespectful to Ry who is supposed to be their friend, they dont have to like me and I dont have to like them but its called being polite unless they give you something bad to be upset about etc etc I knew she'd stick up for me :clap:
So now its going to be very difficult around here but until I get apologies off them all we wont be socialising with them.
Anywho today we are going to GlenRowan and Wangaratta for a lookie with sis + boyfriend. Should be nice. Then Dh and I get to go to dinner and a movie tonight SANS BABY :dance:

quick update.. mum came and visited from Sydney, while see was here my step dad was admitted to hopsy ( he has terminal cancer ) so she had to leave quickly and fly home, so she was only able to stay for a short visit.. still waiting for tests results of step dad but it looks like he has an infection somewhere which he is having trouble fighting.. xoxo
Both kids have tonsilitius... so laying low for the next couple of days.. will be back on line soon

After she finally settled we ended up having a good night, thank god. She seems to sleep longer on really hot nights which would be good if the heat didn't keep waking me up.

nessa, well the kris kringle thingo.........when we were all pregnant some of us (ME) didnt get a baby shower, so we had a online one, and bought a gift for someone..maz sorted all the names as to who was buying for who, xmas came along and we did another and sharleen organised the names etc, so i was just wondering if we are doing a easter one..............but we set a limit of what we spend usually $10-$20,and we have a great time!! lots of naughty chat had...........

thanks for your wishes.. my step dad passed away this evening... looks like it was a blood infection and he was too ill too fight it. He had cancer and it was extremly aggressive.. he only lived 6 months from when he was diahgnosed..xoxo lp

Well Nina is still sick, doesn't seem to be getting any better ATM. Nights are a nightmare too. I don't know if it's cause she's sick, or if it's the growth spurt, OR BOTH! but last night she was waking every 2 hours and Saturday night was just as bad. I am so tired today. Doesn't help that it's raining and quite cool, which is sleeping weather. Nina's just gone to sleep now, so I might try and get some sleep before she wakes up.
