i just popping on whlie i try not to listen to alexander cry himself to sleep.. the last 2 days we have been trying to get him to self settle.. it put him down at 2.10pm and its is 2.14.. he started to cry and then slowly he would have a break in between the cries.. he is now talking to himself !! yipee..
BBL - need to do housework
-
jett had a high temp last night of 38.2, he seemed better this morning but now he is sooky and lethargic. His temp is 38.8. I dont know what to do, should i take him to the ER?????????
:(
-
4 minutes is great Annie to self-settle! Enjoy the housework.
Rach - Try not to stress to much about your bub's diet, if you and your DH eat a well-balanced and healthy diet that is low in salt/sugar/preservatives, then this will be perfect for Jack (he just might need more fat/dairy in his diet than the average adult). You can find iron in non-meat sources too...legumes (like red lentils), whole grains (including wholemeal bread), wheat germ, oatmeal, green leafy vegetables, peas, broccoli, potatoes, nuts, seeds, peaches and dried fruit. Just be sure to include lots of Vitamin C rich foods to increase iron absorbtion by the body.
Rikki - How cold is it today?! brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr is all I can say. I hate to think what our gas bill is going to be like with me home this winter. Happy Anniversary too you and Sam - enjoy your night out.
Caddie - How are you going hon?
Kellxx - It is a shame we all live so far apart as you are right, we would make one awesome mummy group!
Shell - I hope this quick to fall asleep thing is a new phase for Ash. How awesome!
Not much to report here except Xander is finally on the move properly. He is still cranky and frustrated tho because now he can stand, he wants to walk. Oh, and I think he has a mild case of gastro too which is majorly yuckko. I've got a bad cold and Scott has gastro too... so all in all, sick household over here.
Maz, Belle, AnnaT, Ambz and anyone else lurking... big hellos!
-
Dunno Annat, is he teething do you think? That can cause higher temps. Lethargic isn't that great though.
Maybe post in the general section, cos you'll probably get an answer pretty quick there. My first thought is that he's teething or got a cold and the temp is his body fighting infection, but would be good to see what others think too. Go with your gut I reckon.
Might also be good to call one of those health lines, they might have ideas for bringing his temp down if needed?
ETA: Oh Anna, River gets annoyed and frustrated too, he drives us crazy! He just yells when he can't do something and we're like just be quiet already! We're slowly going insane.
-
AnnaT - When Xander had Roseola, his temp soared up over 40 degrees so I took him to the doc and he was border-line needing hospy admission. Generally, 40 degrees is considered 'too high' for bubbas. You should be able to keep him at home and try a dose of panadol... if his temp doesn't drop after an hour or so, or he becomes floppy and lethargic; ring the GP and talk to them about what to do. Or you could also phone the Health help line (in your purple book) as they are really helpful. Just remember that, even tho fevers make us panic, generally they do no harm in themselves, they can actually be helpful and usually a sign that his body is fighting off an infection.
ETA: With higher temps, just be on the look out for febrile convulsions - normally they aren't a problem if it happens (unless it lasts more than 5 mins, then call ambulance) but if he has one it is pretty scary to watch. Just a heads up in case it does occur that to try not to panic! Xander has one with his high fever, the doc's weren't really concerned at all about it as heaps of bubs have them.
-
Hello,
Firstly I want to say thanks to everyone for making me feel better about my mothers grp. Today I went out with 2 friends that also have bubs aged 10 months, and they are so much nicer. They dont compare anything.
Well done on Eithan's first tooth
Rach - as Shell said, babies iron store become lower after 6 months of age. If you dont want to give hom meat, you dont have to tho. It is totally your choice. You will find that most of the Farax products are high in Iron, so you could also add spoonfulls of that to his meals.
AnnaT - Tim is a paramedic, and he says that you best bet is to give "nurse oncall" a call. They will tell you what you need to do. As Anna** said you need to look out for febrile convulsions. They can be a bit scary. James was having them when he had Roseola. (Which is another thing it could be.)
Anna** I hope bub doesn pick up the gastro bug.
OH I have to go. Someone on the phone. BBL
-
Hey everyone,
Helen - well done on Eithan's first tooth, yay,
AnnaT - How is Jett doing now?
Rikki - Big congratulations on your wedding anniversary, hope you guys do something nice to celebrate.
Caddie - how are you doing?

Im slack I know and im sorry that I havent gotten on more lately...its been hard being extremely sick with a flue and having sick kids to look after and taking another to school at the same time. pLease girls....sending you all heaps of hugs and sloopy kisses in way of saying sorry.
I just wanted to wish Chrissy the world of luck tomorrow. Plesae honey try not to stress to much, we'll all be thinking off you all tomorrow. Have a scotch and a ciggy hon. I hope that you recieve something in the mail in the next few days to...just a little something to say we love ya.

xoxo
-
Chrissy- As Maz said we wish you the world of luck tomor. I will pray for him to get thru it without problems. Let us know how things go.
Maz- Stop apologising! You are wonder woman going along with 3 kids being preg and unwell, don't know how you do it! Hopefully all those nasty bugs clear up and you all get better.
AnnaT- How is Jett? I read your post in the other section, so I presume you've taken him off to the Dr or hospy, best to get temps checked out if they going on for too long. I remember when Ash had her temp I rang ER and they said to definately bring her in.
Anna**- Keep all those gastro germs away from me! Xander sounds like he's really on the move, I bet he'll be walking real soon.
*Annie*- So did Alexander go to sleep easily after chatting to himself? We did a modified version of CC awhile back to help Ash learn to self settle and by day 3 she was doing really well.
Ash been bit off today. She been really tired and sleepy, and very clingy and whingy. Hope shes not coming down with anything, she had 3 naps today plus went to bed an hour earlier.
In my mums group Ash is the most on the move of all the bubs and its not good cause while they relax I'm chasing Ash to stop her from pulling books off there book shelves, stopping her from using there big vases to stand on, I couldn't really sit down, she wasn't interested in playing with the other bubs and toys she just wanted to explore!
-
That's a great idea Ness!
Hope everything's okay with you and Jett Annat. Let us know how things are.
Lol at Ash! You've got yourself a little Dora there Shell!
Maz, no one's thinking 'oh man, that Maz doesn't care about us cos she's never on'. You've got house, family, a business and a bump to take care of. Is there any sign of your sickness easing yet?
-
thanks so much girls
thanks nessa for that virtual card, and thanks for your well wishes last night belle, i was around but on the phone for hours as i arrived back home yesterday arvo, and i will be home all day today with no hospital visits today.
craig is ok, he is absoultly sh**ing himself, but he desperatly needs the operation or he will be dead by the end of the year, so he is trying to deal with it all, i am ok, but i have not stopped this last 10 days, i can fianally have a day at home, he will be in intensive care for 3 days and we are hoping he will be out of hospital for my birthday on 27th,1 week away.
i have had a sh%% fight with the airlines trying to get a refund or credit for my flights, the flights cost me $600 all up and since i had to cancell, it was going to cost $40 per ticket cancelation fee which added up to $400, Pi&&ed off, i kept ringing and ringing, and i was just hitting my head up against a brick wall, finaly yeaterday i was able to cancel on compassionate grounds and not loose any money, and i receive a credit so i can use the money to pay for the trip when i decide i can afford to take the kids.......AT FUC*** LAST i had sucess.
And i wont start on centrlink.........thats another story !!!
anyway thanks again for your well wishes, hope you all have a great day.
-

Cause she was all sleepy yesterday then last night put her to bed just before 6:30 and did not hear a peep til 6:30 this morn, then after feed went back to sleep til 9:30! I didn't sleep well though, snuck in at 1 and 4 to make sure she still breathing cause she has never ever slept that long. I was getting worried.

Nothing much to report here. We are heading to Woodend for the next few days, so I will be back Saturday.
-
That's okay Kell, have fun on your BB holdiay! Make sure you come back when you're ready though.
Friday morning hey Caddie. That's great that you're positive about it. Are you still feeling healthy? The ferry sounds like a lot of fun! So have fun!
River is currently screaming at his chest of drawers, which he's kneeling in front of. Not sure what he hopes to achieve by that...Oh, he's trying to stand up.
Chrissy, that's fantastic that you were able to get your moolah back. And don't worry about Centrelink...hopefully next time you'll get someone different and awesome (they do exist, but they're rare).
That's a great sleep Shell! Fantastic!
Have fun at Woodend Meg.
Hope you're feeling better soon Mazzie moo.
Helen, what's happening down your end?
Okay, well River's still wailing at his drawers, obviously he's not a quitter - didn't get that from me! And I need to get us showered and bathed and a shopping list done in oh, about 10 mins? Not great. Mum's coming to entertain River while we go grocery shopping, and also shopping for wedding clothes, I'm singing at my mates wedding with some other mates and sheesh, who gets married in winter, for goodness sake! (yes, yes, I know you do Rikki, happy anniversary) I'm thinking a long sleeved dress...on like, no money at all...hmm.
-
Nelle - we want to seee pics of you in the dress matie.

hope you are all well
xoxo anna
-
*Annie*- Doesn't sound like much fun. Can you take sudofed or something? Your still BFing? I not sure what you can or can't have if you are.
Nelle- You are becoming the wedding singer, how many have you sung at now? I'll have to book you in when we eventually get around to getting married. So did River make his way to standing up?
Meg- Enjoy woodend, a friend of mine is thinking of moving up there.
Caddie- At least its only a couple more days then you might get a better idea of whats going on. Ferry and lunch sounds nice, weather okay over there? Might have to pop across and join you for that lunch.
Ash still funny today, I don't know if I should be concerned or not, she's very clingy and whingy and just tiring easily. Usually she's up for 2.5- 3 hours before naps but today after like an 1-1.5hrs she starting to get really grizzly and yawning her head off. My sister suggested maybe she's going thru a growth spurt or something. Its tiring for me too, my arms are sore from holding her all the time.
-
We ended up being admitted overnight to the paeds ward. The ER docs thought it was a bad double ear infection which is what the paeds diagnosed too. They said I did the right thing bringing him in seeing as the panadol and nurophen werent working to bring down his fever. After numerous rounds of antibiotics, pain meds and fluids through an IV we are home and he is looking a tad bit better but Im on alert to look for signs of change and if he nosedives again I have to go straight back as they can sometimes be wrong with diagnosis.
Thanks for all the concern!
-
Wowee Annat! Sounds like you def did the right thing in taking the Jettstar in!
I know Shell, and weddings are fun! I was worried for awhile that I was becoming the Funeral singer! :p I think I'm singing with my jazz band in November sometime (I know ages away), I'll let you know, and you can come and watch me make mistakes.
Oh and Shell, how about a sling of some sort? I love mine for when Riv gets all grouchy and clingy.
Hope you're feeling better soon Annie.
Well, mum and I took awhile to get our act together (okay, mainly me), so we're waiting for Rans to be home in a few minutes so we can leave River at home - hurrah!
-
$hit AnnaT - glad you went with your gut and thank god your home.
My WOO HOO in my previous post was for Shell..SO WOO HOO Shell for having a full nights sleep. Brain dead me forgot to put your name in ROFL
Annie - I hear you on the sinus issues....I sound digusting talking cause my nose is blocked and my eyes are puffy...look like I ve had one bender of a wekeend and its only wednesday. Thank you agian for asking me about those patterns you worht a million bucks.
Looking at the clock wondering how Craigy boy and Chrissy are doing...............
-
Maz- ha ha i did guess it was for me, preggy brain playing on you. Do you know what time roughly Craig was expected out of surgery?
Nelle- Definately, I'd love to come see your band, let me know closer to the time, Nov long way away! You getting in months of practise?
AnnaT- Luckily you went in, hope he recovers quick smart, so awful when they are ill. Give Jett lots of big hugs from me. Must've been awful seeing him like that.
I should be doing something other than the internet while Ash is asleep but seriously can't be stuffed. Her grizzling always really tires me out.
-
It was horrible Shell. Esp when they put in the IV line and talked about taking a urine sample from his bladder because he wouldnt pee. Just as they were going ahead with it he pee'd in the baggy they stuck on him :cryinglaugh: Scared him into going potty I think. He was a real trooper through the whole thing though, I had to do it on my own because Ry was at work and wouldnt finish til 5pm. The nurses loved on him every chance they got and he lapped it up. It was so awful seeing him sleep and cry like that, he spent most of yesterday and this morning sleeping on me in bed.
Lesson learnt though, in future I will run to the ER even if it turns out to be nothing serious and I look like an idiot, my god I shudder at the thought of what would have happened if I had left it :(
-
Oh wow....so much has happened over night.
Kell - we will miss you:(!
Nessa - sorry I mised you in my last post :)
AnnaT - hugs to you and Jett - so glad you took Jett to the hospy - what a scary time and to see your little boy like that, hugs, it would have been frightening, just goes to show you that our mothers instincts are always right!!!`
Ash - teething, separation anxiety, growth spurt, in general just having a few off days??? I hope poor Ash is starting to feel better now.
Maz - hugs to you - pregnant, sick and looking after three kids - no wonder you havn't been on here much - hope things start to improve for you.
Nelle - way to go on the wedding singing, you should put a music clip on your blog!!.
Annie - hope you are feeling better.

xoxo anna
-
Nessa.. haha lucky you! I think someone wants some attention tonight!
AnnaT.. poor Jett.. i hope he starts picking up now.. poor thing.
Girls thanks for all your replies and support. I had a good talk to DH today who has made me really think about a few things. Im so lucky to have him, i dont know how i would get through each day without him to be honest. Might have to make a bit of effort for him tonight. Ive been feeling quite down lately. I suffered from alot of depression and insecurities when i was younger.. i kinda turned my back on it hoping it was gone, tried to build myself a back bone, but just a few little things have kinda kicked it back into gear slightly again. And i guess when youre a stay at home mum and are home alot, little things are always the biggest to effect you. Ness, thankyou so much for being there for me, and well all of you.. please just forgive me for being a bit of a nutter at the moment.. im just all over the place with everything at present.
-
Big Hugs Kellxx. We all understand and are here for you to lean on.
-
Kell i need to find this book and send it to you unless i send it to someone else! Its called the rise and fall of the yummy mummy and basically about how we lose our sense of self with comedy thrown in.I found it funny anyway.
Flowers ness! woohoo thats nice. My hubby been asking for it lately too but well im just tired and out of sorts but seem to use that excuse alot lately.I need to have a few wines to let me run loose i think.
Annie whats up? I missed it? Are you sick?
Maz whats this with vy and a mouse?
Helen, thats great eithan has a tooth! I have a friend with a 11 month across the road and no teeth yet for her.
Ferry was nice, millana enjoyed it but when you head out for the day its hard on ruby due to less sleep. So early in bed for her tonight. But i had a lovely beef rendang for lunch! and a glass of wine.
Oh and another thing.Im going to see christina aguilera.A friends hubby didnt want to go so i got his ticket and its a girly night out now.Not until the 13th july and if i need any procedures done regarding my tummy it can wait until after that date.
My sis comes home on tues for 4 weeks.Thats another great thing happening. So i have had bad news and then 2 good things to look forward too.
Going to go watch a movie.World trade centre. BBL if it doesnt go too late.
-
Kell- Don't stray too far, anytime you are feeling down jump on here or if I'm on msn we'll have a chat. It can be hard being at home alot cause you find everything pops into your mind and stays there. Its great that you have such a supportive hubby.
Chrissy- Hope all is well with Craig, thank god the surgery is over and now you are on the road to recovery.
Ness- wow, my Df has bought me flowers only a handful of times and only once was on his own idea, all the other times were me hinting for weeks bout it! What did he do wrong last night anyways? So is hubby getting lucky? ;)
Annie- Hope all those drops and things work wonders for you.
Anna**- Did you end up working out something to help Xander wean from the dummy? Any success there?
caddie- How exciting with the wireless, I'd love to curl up in bed with my electric blanket on and chat on here. Glad you had great day today and yay on your sister coming. Keep looking at the good things and try not stress too much on the bad.
Rach75- Ash isn't quite herself lately either. Hope Jack settles tonight for you at a better time.
AnnaT- I'm same, I remember when Ash had her temp awhile back, she had it all night then all next day and everyone I knew kept saying just wait and see just a virus but I thought nup, not gonna take chance and went to ER. It could easily just end up as nothing but better to put mind at ease. How is Jett now? Improved alot?
Nelle- I was looking at your blog and your sling reminded me off this mum I saw at southland. She had a similar one and had one on each shoulder with these gorgeous twins sitting in each one. Looked so cute, looked like she had a shoulder bag with bubs sitting in them, wanted to take a pic.
Well thankfully Ash has settled well for the night, I hope she sleeps thru again but want to her wake happily tomor. Going out to Chadstone tomor with my sister for shopping well prolly just alot window shopping and lunch at the pancake palour.
-
Okay, well I got me a dress and some shoes, but it's too cold to get off the couch to take pics for you, I've warmed a nice patch of leather and I'm not ready to give it up! Have fun shopping tomorrow Shell!
Hey your girly night out sounds fun Caddie! It's less than a month away too! Good to hear the ferry and meal was nice.
Kell that's wicked you got to talk to your dh, talking really helps. Maybe that's why I talk so much.
A step for Annika! Wowee Ness! And flowers...ooh la la mate! Speaking of that, maybe I should have gotten flowers for dh...I've been somewhat insane lately...maybe it's cos I was ovulating...that's like playing with fire really isn't it...:p Ah well. Kay Serrah Serrah.
What's the weather like in WA girls? Are you going to send us any nice weather? We're freeeeezing here on the east coast!!!
-
It's freeeezing here too Nelle, but at least it isn't raining as well. Just the kind of cold that chills you to the bone.
Shell - No real luck with the dummy weaning thing, most seem to be CC based or wait till he's older and understands a bit better. I've given up for now anyway as the little tike has mild gastro and is pretty miserable... couldn't bear to take away his dummy too!
Caddie - That's a pretty good movie, I saw it a while back. Enjoy.
