Noni, I think they get teeth around 5-8 months but some do get them earlier. I have wondered about Will because he chews anything that goes near his mouth and drools constantly but nothing has appeared so I guess he just likes to chew.
LP, I am glad you are getting the girls while they are still young enough and have a chance at a good life. Hopefully getting their hearing sorted will result in a big change for the better. My mum fostered her cousin for two years but she was 14 when she came to live with us and hadn't been to school regularly since she was 8. She didn't even know the concept of times tables when she moved in. Mum made a huge effort to keep her in school and help her try to catch up, but it was too late and as soon as she was 16 she quit school and moved back to her mothers.
DH got a $30 coles-myer voucher from work, so I taxed it and went clothes shopping for W. I rang around for a rainforest jumperoo but they are hard to find. There was one at a Babyco, but it was a half hour drive in unfamiliar territory so I ordered it online and got it $20 cheaper.

arte i thought it was 5-8mthstoo but her gums look kinda lumpy amd feel really hard.. shes grizzly n clingy n dribbley.... maybe i shld take her to the dr incase its something else....
well done on the discounted jumperoo they are great fun!
-
noni- Hannah is very dribbly at the moment, and sucks on her hands all day. I bought her a teething ring this afternoon - so i'll see if she likes it.
LP - that sure is a large number of kids for christmas!!!!! Bubbles should keep the younger ones occupied for a little while. Maybe print off some colouring in pages and have some felt pens handy for when they get a little tired. If you feel like it, you could make some playdough and use cookie cutters.

Bottle-feeding mummies, i'm just curious - How long do your bubba's go between feeds, how much do they drink per feed, and how many bottles per day?
Scarlet has 5, 200ml bottles in a whole 24hr period and can go for about 4 1/2 or 5 hrs without a feed during the day, obviously longer at night.
I just read a thread about an 11 month old drinking 7-8 200ml bottles per day... I thought the amount of feeds per day decreased & the quantity increased (ie: 280 or 300ml) as they got older?
ETA: that's confusing, what i mean is; I thought that as they get older you give them more milk in a bottle and therefore less feeds. Lol. Sorry if i sound like a complete moron - I'm now just worrying that i will be making and feeding Scarlet bottles 7 times a day for the next year!
ETA (again): I Don't think i make sence, If you choose to ignore me i will not be offended! LOL
-
lp - Asha is drinking i think around 5 in 24 hours and she drinks anywhere from 100mls to 160mls about a week ago she was drinking 160mls almost every time but shes slowed down the past few days.. she goes around 4hrs between bottles though atm shes very irregular with them sometimes going 3 and sometimes 5 lol.. if i feed her at 12:30pm though she will last until dp feeds her at around 6:30 - 7am and then after that another 3-4hrs though this morning she woke up and wanted to feed 2hrs later.. so i suppose that dosn't really help you because shes kinda out of wack atm i think shes hungry just getting tired feeding coz shes not quick enough so i am switching over to the no2 3mth flowing teats and will see how she goes.. basically before this all started she was on 160mls every four hours on the dot then the 6-7 hours over night then back to the 4hrs..
what u said completely makes sence.. i think it depends on how much solids the child is having and how hungry they are in general.. idk if as u have more milk in the bottle they drop feeds once you get to a certain age as they are getting bigger and need more iykwim? but if they are having adequate solids there will deffinately be less bottles..
lol i hope i made sence!!!

LP I cant believe how many people will be at your house for Christmas. After everything in all your posts today I am left wondering if you wear your undies on the outside, I certainly think your a Supermum ;). Sorry I cant help with the bottles, dont different brands have differnt ml's anyway? Like S26 might be 180ml for a 3 month old and Karicare might be 200? I say if Scarley is happy and putting on weight not to worry about it.
Arte well done flogging DH's Myer voucher. I love Myer vouchers as there are so many places to spend it.
Callt I hope you and K start getting a little more sleep soon. Logan isnt sleeping through yet so your not alone. We have 2 major shopping centres up here and they both have great parents rooms. One has a big lounge area when you walk in and a play area for older kids then rooms off the back for changing and toilets. The on at the other shopping centre I just discovered on the weekend as Myer was full, it had little boothes with sliding doors and a lounge inside for feeding, they were spacious too.
Jazmum, Chevron is beautiful some of the houses on the island are gorgeous.
Renne at least your neighbours called you to come and pick up the dogs, how embarrassing though you poor thing.
I tried to have a bath with Logan tonight but I left it to late and he was so tired he started screaming before I even got him in the water, he normally loves the bath and shower (he loves being naked lol) so it was awful hearing him scream, plus the bathroom echos so it sounded so much worse.

katie - i know on nestle nan formula tin its pretty vague it says like up to 2 weeks n 4 weeks mayve? i forgot how much it says then up to 2mths 160 i think 5 bottles per day then up t0 4 mths 180 5 per day so u kinda have to figure it out for yourself i remember karicare was the same

LP - Rory is on 180mls every 4 hours during the day like clock-work. Just an example he had his first feed at 6:30pm today, then 10:30pm, 2:30pm, 6:30pm and he just had his last one at 9:00 but that was a 120ml top up bottle before I put him to bed as he wont feed now until 6:00am-ish tomorrow morning.
S26 recommend 5 x 180 bottles over 24 hours for his age (2 - 4 months). And then when he is 4 - 6 months he will be on 5 x 240mls bottles over 24hrs. When he is over 6 months he will have more mls but only 4 x bottles.
Ozstar - Looks like we both have little nudie babies haha. I was giving Rory a bath this evening when he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. At first he smiled a little and then his face turned into shock horror and screamed the house down. The poor darling was so upset he wasn’t breathing right, he was almost hyperventilating (sp)! I have never seen him cry like that before so I was panicking and almost crying myself.
There are some pretty fancy parents rooms around! I feel like im in a super secret society when im in some LOL!
DId another HPT today and got a BIG FAT NEGATIVE :) whooohoooooooo! Although I would love another bub real soon I just wouldn’t be able to appreciate Rory and the new bub/pregnancy the way I want to. Okay that sounded really awful but what I mean is I want to devote all my attention solely on Rory for the first few years. And when the time is right for another baby I want to appreciate and nurture my pregnancy like I did with Rory. I don’t want to feel pressured and rushed. I hope that makes sense LOL!
-
lol Renee, poor Rory but that's pretty funny :D... Scarlet loves herself, she's looking in the mirror all the time.
Gratz on your BFN... You don't have to explain yourself! I think the majority of us aren't planning on having another bub just yet *hehe*
-
good morning everyone - hope you all had a good night's sleep. (i didn't :( )
katie - i wish we were staying in one of the really nice houses. I haven't yet tried having a bath with Hannah - I usually get suctioned to the back of the bath and find it hard to get out!!!!
renee - i'm glad that you're happy with your negative result. I know exactly what you're talking about.
-
Morning all,
Renne Logan loves seeing himself in the mirror and cracks the biggest grins at himself ( bit like his father lmao).
Jazmum I would love to go for a wander through one of the houses one day. Did Hannah keep you up?
Noni I am glad Logan isnt on formula, I would find it all to confusing lol. Although I guess once you find the brand your happy with its easy.
Not alot planned today, off to get Logan weighed but thats about it. I might go to Bunnings as I am thinking of getting DH a Blower Vac thingo for Christmas. Only 2 more weeks till Christmas how exciting. Next week is DH's last week of work and on the Friday we leave for our big drive to Sydney.
-
She has been waking during the night and waking early in the morning. I'm so tired my head has been spinning for the past couple of days.
A leaf blower is a good present- my dh loves blowing the leaves around on a saturday

Well i'm not having a very good birthday today...
:( Poor Scarlet woke up this morning with spots - I thought she had some tiny bites at first but they're not raised and in the last couple of hours they have started to spread, I don't think it's heat rash because they are really small very dark red spots on her tummy and now her legs...
I put her in her bouncer in the bathroom earlier so i could jump in the shower but i barely got wet before she started screaming like i've never heard her scream before, not even when she had her needles or her ***** test - She had tears pouring down her face, could hardly breathe and i couldn't calm her down, so there i was running around the house with a screaming bub trying to keep half a towel on with our massive windows all open and mass amounts of tourists and school kids walking past to the beach! I plonked her on our bed and ripped off all her clothes to see if anything had bitten/pinched/scratched/hurt her but there was nothing.
I've given her panadol because she has a temp too and she fell asleep mid-screaming so DF is coming home from work to come to the doctors with us (i don't think i can drive with her if she starts screaming like that again).. I feel all shaky, she barely even cries... only has little whimpers so it was a bit of a shock to the system for me. I hope she's okay :(.
-
LP firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :happybirthday:
Secondly aww you poor thing. How is Scarlet doing now? How scary for you I realy hope it is nothing serious.
Just had Logan weighed and he has lost weight, not good! We are going to top him up with formula after each feed and see how he goes, so I will no doubt have a tone of questions for bottle feeding mummies.
Bought DH a petrol power leaf blower, he is going to love it.
-
lp, hope nothing wrong with scarlet. and hope your birthday improves. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! (i did read it right, right? it's your birthday today?)
-
katie, welcome to my world of top up. not the easiest when max keeps falling asleep on the breast so i think she's full but end up w/ a hungry bub an hour later. was top up suggested by someone?
-
Great doctor, doesn't know what the spots are.. lol.. My usual GP isn't in today, Scarlet seems better so i will take her to my usual doctor tomorrow just to make sure.
Yup it's my birthday :).. Thanks! haha i was having a bit of a sook cause i thought all my friends & family forgot but i've just realised the phone is off the hook and i have a billion messages... Yay i feel loved again. lol.
-
Hayley - Firstly happy birthday!! I hope your day improves for you. Have you been to the doc with Scarlet yet? I hope she is ok! Good on you for taking in these two girls. That is the best gift you could ever give them. Make sure you use as many resources as possible ie social workers to help you out. Also I'm wondering if you could get some sort of allowance from centrelink?? Have you planned whats going to happen moneywise, is your brother offering you some money to help out? Wow chrissy is going to be very busy at your place, but getting together with the family is just the best! Maddie drinks 5-6 bottles a day, with most of them being 180mls. Sometimes she has an extra 60ml bottle in the morning for her first feed, as she's gone the whole night without a feed i guess.
Katie - Feel free to ask away as many questions as you like about FF. The leaf blower is a great idea, men like those sort of things dont they hehe. Maybe I should get one for DP one day, maybe then the garden would be spotless!
Jazmum - I hope you have a restful nights sleep tonight.
Renee - Oh how embarrassing! Naughty doggies. Aww poor little Rory! Maddie is the complete opposite, she loves looking at herself in the mirror and cracks big smiles for me. Congrats on the negative test result...haha that sounds a bit weird saying congrats, but we all know what you mean, a baby is a wonderful gift, but not right now!!!
Noni - Is Asha still grizzly and drooling lots? I find Maddie gets that way when she is very tired, and she sucks at her hand like mad. But if you are feeling little bumps, maybe they are starting to come through?
Arte - Well done on the cheap jumperoo buy. They look like so much fun!
Marydean - How is it going with the inlaws!? My MIL is staying with us atm for TWO WKS!!! She lives 100kms south of Perth and is finishing up her nursing degree and is doing her final prac at a hospital in Perth. Its just too far to travel every day. She's ok though, I got a bit *****y with her a month or so ago (which was very hard for me to do because I hate confronting people) and she has calmed down alot hehe.
Gracie - I know the yellow clothes that you are talking about at PP, they are so cute, but this dress was actually from best & less. They have such nice baby clothes there. Glad you liked the doco!
Cally - :hugs: We all have those nights where bubs is just so unsettled that we burst into tears. Its horrible and you feel so exhausted. I hope tonight is better for you.
Well Maddie had a real big laugh yesterday, it was so amazing! This is hard to explain but my dad was holding her in two hands and pushing her up and down in the air. She was laughing her head off!! That is the first time she has had a really big laugh. I took her home and DP and I tried to get her to do it again, but she wouldnt. Thats always the way isnt it, but she just loves my dad for some reason.
I also had to go to the dentist yesterday...now I know why I always put it off. It costs a bomb!!! $420 thank you very much, and I need further work at an estimated $390. THEN I need my wisdom teeth out, which he hasnt quoted me on yet, but I can just imagine.
I also checked out a childcare centre yesterday for Maddie. I'm still in two minds about working. Anyway the centre was so nice, you needed a pin code to get in (they probably all have this but I was impressed), it was very neat and the caregivers were on the floor playing with the bubs. I'm just scared because I get all oh nobody can look after her as well as I do because they dont know her like I do. :(
I'm sure I have missed many of you, sorry, but I cant keep up :) I hope you all have a great day.
