don't know. weight gain in 1 wk, th-th, was only ~80grams. starting to get heavier nappies tho the past 2 days. only been giving her formula at night 50-100ml.
horror drive to hospy yesterday. cried for full 20 mins. when i rushed to get him out of the seat when we got there, she saw me and just started cooing.
-
btw, what will happen if i only feed from 1 bb? she seems to have a total dislike for the left but quite happy to suck on the right. pretty sure there's milk in the left but also think there's not as much. struggle to try to get her to feed on left before i give in and give her the right one.
eta: have added a couple of more recent photos in the gallery

Hey Fianne, don't worry too much about what she's doing ATM - Alister is exaclty the same, just gets this 'mmm-mmmmmm-mmmmmm' thing going until someone pays him attention and then he's smiling and laughing, so I think it's just for attention plain and simple LOL. Drives me mental though because i know there is nothing wrong with him, but he's at the age now where he wants to be involved in everything. And he chews on anything he can get a hold of - hands, feet, clothes, toys and I know he isn't hungry when he does it. Don't worry about her weight either - its not a sign you aren't feeding her enough, how many poos does she do in a day?
Katie, the first day went well. Erin is happy to keep going to school LOL, but she was very tired last night.
Gracie, I took Alister with me when I had my hair done a few weeks ago and he was fine for most of it, but got tired just before I was done. Fingers crosed Lewis is a good boy.
Hi SupaB! great to see you. T sounds like she is just perfect. I haven't seen any ads for McCleods daughters either actually.
Hi Arte. Alister can lift himself on his arms, but spends nearly all tummy time flapping them around to the sides of him, trying to move around and grab toys.
Leanne, a girls night sounds fantastic, lucky thing you are. I hope you have a great time.
Not much going on here. It's strange not having Erin around, but very peaceful I must admit. She had a good day yesterday, but one of the boys she went to preschool with is a real bugger kid and was a bit of a bully to her and others that were in the same group is luckily not in the same class, but Erin said he was being mean to her during group playtime. I think I may have to keep an eye on it and see how it goes. I might need to say something to her teacher.
Alister is just Alister LOL, but like I mentioned above, driving me nuts with his 'I want attention" grizzling. It's hard too when the kids get him wound up, then they get bored and leave him, but he's not had enough, so then I have to take over then. I laybyed some clothes yesterday for winter for him and i was a bit dissapointed in what target had so far. I hope Myer is better.

Fianne, try holding her in a 'football hold' under your arm to see if she will take the left side that way. Off to have a squizz at her piccies...
-
sherie, thanks. will try the football hold later. used to do 2 poos a day but she's been doing 1 in 3-4 days recently.

Arte - Maddie is the same as Will with the tummy time. I was worrying about it too. Your mum has done very well to hold back on the advice till now. Is Will waking because he is hungry or just because he can? :) Its Will that is thumb sucking as well isnt it? Maddie is still sucking away on her thumb, I've tried pulling it out but it always sneaks back in lol given up now. Is Will still sneaking it in too?
Ozstar - Hope Logan starts sleeping through for you again. Maybe he is growth spurting?
Gracie - How did you go at the hairdressers?
Noni - Hope you had a good flight and enjoy your time in Melb. I saw Sydney had bad storms again last night and I thought of you - hope nothing got damaged.
Leemar - Even though we love our babies to bits, its soooo good to have a night away from it all with the girls. Even going to the gym I find is absolutely excellent. Leave dad to deal with it hehe.
Supablondie - Sounds like you are really enjoying being a mum, its great isnt it!?
JordieC - Haha thats always the way isnt it! Little girls and their Dads....
Sherie - Thanks for the tips regarding the excema. I'm going to buy some QV wash for her today and some cream. My DP's side of the family have hay fever, while my side have asthma, so she was bound to get it I think. Last night I washed her in Cetaphil (I had some as I use it as my facial cleanser) and put paw paw on it. I bath her every night as her bed time routine, it works very well, so I dont think I'll stop bathing her every night.
Far out Maddie slept and slept yesterday, must have been the needles. Usually I put her to bed at 7ish and she will sleep through (dream feed at 9) but Wednesday night she had a late night, bed at 8.15 and she slept like a little champion, did not wake until 10AM!!!!!! She then went back down for another two hours at 11am.
Where have Marydean & LP gone?? :(
-
Fianne - I think I read somewhere if they are having 6 or more wet nappies a day they are getting enough. I would think if you fed more from one boobie then you would have one big balloon boobie and one deflated boobie lol ohhh I'm sorry I'm not BFing so I really am of no help to you.
Sherie - I'm another mcleods fan! Except I think it went a bit downhill after Tess left....or maybe even after Clare died. The first few seasons are the best.

Hi Ladies,
Well I had some what of a emotional break down today I finally reached my breaking point however I am over it now and want to just move on at getting strong again. I think it was just work, kids, house and DH finally got to me. I am usually a strong person and dont like feeling sorry for myself but I suppose sometimes we all get to that stage and somehow get back on top of things. Sorry for the rant...

Leanne, hope you are feeling better now. I snap every once in a while and I only have one bub and I don't work.
Haley, W is still sucking his thumb. I let him do it when he is tired, but if he is just doing it for something to do I pull it out. I did see him start to wake then put his thumb in his mouth and go back to sleep the other day so it may be good for helping him to self settle. I am a bit worried though because I started nail chewing from an early age and can't stop.
Noni, did your house survive the storm o.k? You have had a run of bad weather lately. Hope you are having a good time.
Fianne, good luck with the football hold to get her to drink from lefty. I often feed lying on the bed with both of us on our sides facing tummy to tummy to feed W. When he has dozed off I can climb away and don't have to move him. W has a preference for righty too, he will only drink from the right side before bed time.
It is unlike MD to be MIA for so long - anyone know where she is? And LP too. Hope it is only a temporary absence.
-
leanne, big big hugs to you. you soo deserve a rant and breakdown. it shames me to say that i breakdown as well (like this morning) and i don't do anything but care for 1 baby.
as for my b/feeding woes. spoke to lc that i saw last friday and her weight gain's not enough and she's not settled enough for me to continue with what i've been doing. i'm now to give her 40-60 mls of formula 4-5 times a day and a bigger bottle at night. would give the formula after i b/feed. and hope that the fenugreek and dom peridon (yes, i'm giving in and going to my gp for a script for it) works. after this, if it still doesn't work, i'm putting her on full formula. no more breast and formula combination.

Thanks Girls,
I am feeling much better now. Unfortunatly I am the type of person that bottles things up so as not to bother anybody and then one day it all just snaps. All is good. We just turned Olivias seat around today and I just realised that my baby is growing up. Well babies. Any way have a wonderful day to all.Its my brothers birthday and we are going out for lunch.
-
hmmm...wonder what mischief everyone's up to. it's soooo quiet in here.... :shhh:
leanne, glad to hear that all's well with you now. chin up, you're doing great. enjoy your brother's bday lunch.
had lunch at mt glorious for mother's group yesterday...great place. bit of a drive though....well, 45 mins but it felt really far because it's up the mountain. unfortunately, i had a crying baby ALL THE WAY HOME. good thing that i've already "hardened" myself to her cries....well, a bit anyway....and as usual, as soon as i got the car in the car port, she saw me, it was cooing and not crying i got. *sigh. a couple of the mothers in that mother's group mentioned turning their babies to face forward already and am thinking i might do the same. she might like car rides better if she faces forward rather than back. also thinking of graduating her from capsule to car seat. oh no! our babies are growing up!!!
-
I have been wondering as well when to turn the car seat around. Maddie lifts her head up iykwim and looks around.
Leanne - I am the same with bottling it all up. Glad you are feeling better.
Fianne - You have done so well with the BFing, give it one last shot like you said. Max will be fine on solely formula. I've also noticed a lot of the girls from my mums group that were BFing have now put their bubs onto formula so dont worry, you have done an excellent job with BFing.
Arte - Thumb sucking is helping Maddie to self settle too. Oh well we cant really do much about it lol.
I took Madeline to the CHN yesterday, and apparently she is behind with tummy time. Just when I wasnt worrying about it, seems I now have something to worry about. She has to spend majority of her awake time on her tummy now and then we go back to the CHN in two weeks to see if theres any improvement. So far she is hating it hehe poor thing. I told my mum who rushed out and bought her the Lamaze spin & explore tummy time gym - anyone have this and if so does it help make a baby enjoy tt? Apparently you can only use it up to 5 mths of age.... lol thanks mum. :)
-
hi hayley! thanks so much for your encouragement. you've been a big help to my confused state of mind. your comment on how the BFing mums in your mums group are switching to formula now has reminded me that i am happy to have gone through 3 months + of BFing when i couldn't even contemplate getting through 1 month at the start. and that i don't see myself BFing up to 1 year anyway which means that i'll be weaning her off the breasts soon so why am i pushing this so hard now?
i realized that it was partly due to my selfishness that i'm pushing it at this time. to make it more convenient for us when we travel to the u.s. in march. this is so not right of me. i feel so guilty but at the same time, i'm also happy that i've woken up and realized the mistake i'm making.
but in fairness to myself, i really thought that the milk was coming in which was why i decided to give it another go. now, i know better and will just stick to what i've been doing. :)
thanks to everyone for your encouragements. i think, like all the advice that we get from all around, this was an idea that i had to try and discard for myself. i think i might've gone with regrets if i didn't really give it a good try to go purely BFing.

in celebration of our decision to go formula, we gave max an additional 100 ml bottle (this was after breastfeeding and 80 mls), which she finished (guess i really must've been starving her this week :( ) and was so full that she could just sit back like a sack of potatoes after the bottle. she was also in such a good mood. and then i saw the tired signs so i wrapped her up and left her on the blanket on the floor while i checked my emails. when i turned back to look at her to see if she was ok, she was asleep!!! no cries, no rocking, no music....just went to sleep!!! this reaffirms that i've made the right decision...finally!!!
-
Fianne I am glad your happy with your decision. You have done a sensational job so far.
Hayley try not to worry to much about the tummy time, what made her say Maddie is behind? Remember all baby's do things at different stages and ages.
Leanne glad your feeling better. I too tend to bottle everything up. You come in here and vent whenever you need too...thats what we are here for. Your doing a great job dealing with everything so far, I dont think I would be dealing with it as good as you have.
Arte I was wondering about LP and MD too, I hope they are just to busy with their kids going back to school etc.
We caught up with our Antenatal class this morning, it was so much fun. Logan is the baby of the group and the only one not on solids, I am also the only one still BF. It was great to catch up and see how much everyone's babies have grown. Logan hasnt been eating very much lately, I am not sure if he is getting more breast milk or something else is going on. He had no weight gain last week so will see how he goes this week, I am not worried he is still a happy little vegimite.
-
Fianne, yay for making a decision that you are happy with. At least when you look back you can see that you gave BF your best shot, I am sure that everyone will be far happier now that you don't need to stress about whether she is getting enough. Well done on getting to 3 months.
Haley, I was also wondering what made the CHN say she is behind in tummy time? W only does a couple of 5 minute (if that) bursts during the day and some days he doesn't do it at all. I am worried about the arm flapping instead of propping himself up but as Katie says they all do things at different times so I am sure he will get there eventually.
Katie, glad you had a good time at your antenatal meet up. W also hasn't been eating much. I haven't weighed him for a couple of weeks so I don't know if he is gaining any. I think he is just distracted, he will drink for a couple of minutes then something shiny will catch his eye. He loves that 'rock your body' song for the So You Think You Can Dance ad. Every time he will stop feeding to sit and watch that stupid ad.
Nothing happening here, just slowly packing. Only 10 more sleeps until we go home.
BTW I was looking at some NZ parenting forums but they aren't very good. I did learn the charming expression of BOMFOC (Body Of Model, Face Off Crimewatch). I think I will just stay on BB

Hello everyone!
Fianne, don't ever think that you were starving her, because you weren't. Formula makes them feel fuller and appear more *satisfied* so it looks like it confirms your worry about supply/quality, but really it's just because it sits *heavier* in their tummys and is harder and takes longer for them to digest. I have really admired you for giving it everything you had to try to make it work and for that you should feel so proud of yourself.
OK, you can all stop worrying about Marydean - she hasn't dissapeared off the face of the earth LOL - she's been in my neck of the woods since Wednesday with her DH and the girls doing her residential part of her degree. We had a meet up today (I took the kids to Wagga and we all went to an indoor play centre) and we had a great time - the kids got along really well and Miss E is such a delightful little baby. We took pics too, so I will post them to the gallery later tonight.
Leanne, hugs for you hun. You sound so much like me - I do the same thing, just keep it inside till I can't hold it in anymore and then just snap. Luckily a good scream at anyone/everyone/no-one and a big cry in the shower is enough to get it all out and feel better again. I turned Alisters seat around about a month ago because he kept trying to sit forward to see better. This coincided with him being able to pull himself to a sitting position in his chair too. its hard to let them grow up when they will always be our *babies*.
Hayley, Alister stil sucks his thumb from time to time if he has lost his dummy, but I don't think he will be like Paige is though.
Hi to everyone else!
